Fat Butts May Be Healthy

I really hope I don't accidentally turn this place into a porn site, but will have to take my chances, since we are getting dangerously close to reaching our roll over limit of comments (I consider this an emergency!). Besides, we're here to ponder 'all' things, and maybe it's time to 'broaden' our horizons. Just remember, necessity made me do it!

All fat is not created equal.

"Having junk in your trunk is healthier than a spare tire around the gut, new research suggests. The extra padding on the backside and thighs could even help to protect against disease.

"The fact that body fat's distribution is quite important for your health has been known for some time now .......hip and thigh fat can help to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease."

....... there you have it folks! If you want more, you'll need to go to the link.

While I was scrounging around for information over at 'Live Science' I ran across this article too. I hope it's wrong, but still, it sounds important.

Lost Sleep Can't Be Made Up, Study Suggests
The following study involved a small number of people, so therefore further research would be needed to verify the results:

"If you think staying in bed on the weekends will make up for a weeks' worth of sleep deprivation, think again. A new study finds that going long periods without sleep can lead to a sort of "sleep debt" that cannot simply be undone with a little extra snoozing from time to time.

.... our natural sleep-wake cycle, or circadian rhythm ..... goes hand-in-hand with the periods of light/dark we experiences as the sun rises and sets. Our natural tendency to want to be awake during the day may mask signs of sleep debt when it's light out. But this protective effect may go away as darkness arrives, the researchers say.

.. Chronic sleep loss could leave these individuals "vulnerable to accidents and errors," the researchers say." http://www.livescience.com/health/lost-sleep-catch-up-100113.html

Funny article Chloe, but I see a full day of bad puns coming.

Nice pooper.!

I saw that same article the other day, and was going to say something about it..butt, i didn't want to be the but of the jokes that I know would be coming from U pinks....so I left it out in the end, and no butts about it. Nice day of 35 today, and Im surprised that im able to get on line...

Solar said...

Out the door for a little while, later.! o I forgot...scratch, scratch....ahhhhh scratch...

MG Solar, You were worried about the pinks! You're the one we have to worry about. I cringe to think about what you'll say next. Ha!

Also, I think the story you have to worry about is the one about not being able to make up for lost sleep. I scanned the comments over at TM, and if I'm not mistaken, you were still commenting after 1 AM! You need to forget about those butts big guy, and catch up with your sleep!

I'm sure Solar will have plenty of them to come.

One last thing:

Ivy, I woke up this morning wondering how your pup is doing. I may have missed it, but did you ever get her results back from the vet, saying what kind of rash it was?

Please let us know if she's doing any better.

Solar said...

I wonder why there are different shape of butts, on women....I think that I know now....

Ivy Green said...

A loaded topic, Chloe.

Chloe,
Thanks for asking about Meg. She seems to be responding to the meds. They haven't said what kind of bug it is. It's going to take a long time to recover completely, if she ever does. She'll always be susceptible because of her poor immune system. But she's been perky and never misses a meal. That's what a dog's life is all about, right?

Carol said...

Well, I'd say that some things look better in hindsight. Since it is not a local phenomena I came home from work and got on my giselle and did some floor exercises.

Increasing exercise was one of my New Years resolution and I'm sorry to say that goal lasted only a couple of days. I told you Solar you needed to crack the whip.

The sleep info you discussed here is what I have read for quite a while now. Adequate time sleeping is important and can't be made up later. Also it is best that we keep the same sleep routine every day of the week instead of trying to catch up on weekends.

Good post Chloe. I am one of those women who has always had an ample derierre and good sized thighs too. When I was younger I had a fairly flat belly. Well those of us in that category have the last laugh. the article said after menopause that we women tend to lose our butts and thighs but I don't think so. Some of us don't.

Oh man, I can tell I made a BIGGGGGG mistake with this post. I sure never thought Solar would be telling me to get back here and comment on butts. LOL Solar!

What I was really talking about was weight distribution in relation to our health. I should have known better!

Someone, QUICK! Put up another post before Solar comes up with any more butt jokes. Please!

Solar, Do you remember the ass emoticons we all had a lot of fun at TM with:

(_E=MC2_) = Smart Ass
(_$_) = Rich Ass
(_x_) = Kiss My Ass

Not at all sure that the 'underlying study' has
any merit, but it sure gives new meaning to the

Chloe, thank you for asking about Abigail. She is doing very well. I have not seen her since last Tuesday. Amie has had her mother with her and Amie's dad (my son) lives in town and I know they have been over to visit. Amie's husb has 2 sets of parents in town too. I am giving the parents some time to get settled. I have just told them to let me know if there is anyting they need. As soon as I hear more, I will let everyone know.

Ivy Green said...

Jan,
Thanks for the kind words about Meg. She has a terrible skin infection, mostly affecting her tail, that is made more difficult to treat by her diabetes and immune disorder. I talked at length with her vet today who surprised me with a recommendation we use iodine diluted in the baths. We'd been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide, but she said stop using that and use the iodine. My mother always had iodine around the house. I hadn't thought about iodine in years, didn't even know it was still on the market.

Solar said...

anybody butt me???

Solar said...

Ivy, sorry about you puppy also.....I just don't know what to say sometimes about those kind of things....

Solar said...

I wasn't even going to say anything at all butt, it just all came out.......ok, ok, that's the last one,,no if ands, or butts about it.....

Anonymous said...

It must be a bacterial infection then, Ivy. I guess she's hoping that iodine will keep it from spreading. I'm not sure about hydrogen peroxide. I know it cleans, and I guess it kills bacteria too. At least it doesn't burn like iodine. But diluted, I imagine it won't burn.

Yes, the ballroom dancing contests were
interesting, dancing with the stars started like that, and while I still enjoy watching it,
the routines are pretty over the top, more
like a vegas show then ballroom dancing.

And I give all the dancers credit, since it surely is not easy.

Where's Mary, didn't you say you used to dance?

Solar said...

I watched dancing with the stars a cpl of times when it came out...but i knew-know that sooner or later, it all turns into a show to get work for out of work actors. the reality show made me make up my mind not to watch any tve...and the commercials didn;t help either....

Chloe,

You posted the NYT article about Harold Ford
earlier, are you a fan...Upfront, I am...

If he decides to run in NY, watch for the NYT
to come out for him, they did an editorial
last week directed at the party bosses trying
to orchestrate the senate race, & it was pretty
clear they like Haorld Ford, together with
several recent complimentary pieces about him.

But the long knives are out, over at Daily Beast, Peter Beinert? tries pretty hard to undermine him.

Anonymous said...

"(Carol, soon you will be up & running again all

Anonymous said...

Yes, I am a Harold Ford fan, Coreen. To know him is to love him. Well, I guess in this case, it'd have to be, to know 'of' him.

Anonymous said...

"I always kick my self in the butt"

.. I knew you'd slip another one in there.

Coreen said...

And Harold Ford has mended fences with Don Imus, (that is where I first heard of Harold Ford) who was a huge supporter when he was running for senator in TN, but got angry with
Ford when Ford did not back Imus during the
Rutgers dustup, harold stayed silent & Imus
was pretty angry about it, but the other day
when NY Gov. Paterson was on, Imus mentioned
that Harold had apologized & though Imus
called him a 'weasel'(lovingly) he said Harold
was coming back on the show soon & all is forgiven.

Solar said...

Coreen, I am not talking out of school, I said as much to them a while back...I don't think that anyone is a click, until they think that they are the in group, and treat others as the out group....

I know that blogs are set up to talk to the ones that you want to..only...but after 1-2 years you might just want to say hI...

Chloe doesn't know, that I know, she comments on my posts sometimes...jut to let me know that someone is there...talking to me.....I like the challenge..of getting the smart ones ( t hey are all smart) to comment...i think...but getting a little tired about it...I do think that it is a very good blog, i learn something most of the times....and that is my reason to go there...and to harass keep the war talk straight a little...only Pogo will call them out like I do...about the wars....sorry if im breaking our rule not to talk about tm...i do like it, and would not even talk about it ..if i didn't, but they did chase a few independents out by not talking to them at all...ignoring them...

Carol said...

Chloe, today I pulled up the blog on Iphony while I was standing in our nurse's station in one of our clinics waiting for them to call out the patient. Usually I can't get any reception in the jail but I was close to a window. I saw that first butt pic
and thought I hit the wrong button.

Then I laughed and showed it to our mental health director and told her that someone in our group was feeling a little frisky today. I was sure it probably came from Solar or Don and was surprised when I saw your name on the post.

It did help to motivate me to start working out even if there is no hope for my butt without some of those steroids. A nice ass requires some muscle building. That is probably why it's healthier to have a nice ass.

Anonymous said...

It would have been nuts for Harold to involve himself in that mess. I felt sorry for Imus, but what could Harold have done.

I used to like to watch Imus, and that is where i first seen H. I used to like Harold Ford a lot but if the party bosses really want him, I worry. I've lost faith in the Dems, really don't want to be one anymore.

When the Repubs were in charge it was easy to blame them for everything that went wrong. Then we got a few more Dems than Repubs in legislative branch and things didn't get better but we could blame it on the fact that there weren't enough of us to make any changes. Now we got the whole enchilada and who can we blame for the mess?

don1one said...

Poor solar, always the butt of our jokes. I look for smile lines first, any woman putting up with me will need a good sense of humor.

I've pretty much given up the news programs since New Years. I've decided it just stresses me and doesn't make a bit of difference in my life. I'll read a little bit of huffpost, a little red state, some WaPo, some Washington Times, and local headlines. Lots of health and science and twitter where i talk walleye fishing with the squirel.

Anonymous said...

"this way I won't be disappointed..."

That's the best way to be. Don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed.

Just go by your gut feeling. If you like them, you like them, so you give them a chance.

And Carol, you'll have to be disciplined when you get all those channels out there. Decide ahead of time how you're going to handle it. No depressing stuff is the important thing. You are what you think. Remember that.

If one was to take a back seat and look at how this mess got us here...it was both of the D's and the R's ...Clinton had a lot to do with it...when he allowed large corps to open up offices over seas, (subsidiaries) and not pay any taxes...lot of loop holes..and a few other things that he did...but the worst was what the Bush admin did...he and Greenspan did not take care of us...and now Obama has shown to me...that he cares more for the Banks, and wall st, just like they all did before them.....we have been sold the idea, that wall st has to make very big $ in order for us to live on the crumbs...I think that we should have let it all fall down...we are still in the same pa rogue.....
