Fat Butts May Be Healthy

I really hope I don't accidentally turn this place into a porn site, but will have to take my chances, since we are getting dangerously close to reaching our roll over limit of comments (I consider this an emergency!). Besides, we're here to ponder 'all' things, and maybe it's time to 'broaden' our horizons. Just remember, necessity made me do it!

All fat is not created equal.

"Having junk in your trunk is healthier than a spare tire around the gut, new research suggests. The extra padding on the backside and thighs could even help to protect against disease.

"The fact that body fat's distribution is quite important for your health has been known for some time now .......hip and thigh fat can help to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease."

....... there you have it folks! If you want more, you'll need to go to the link.

While I was scrounging around for information over at 'Live Science' I ran across this article too. I hope it's wrong, but still, it sounds important.

Lost Sleep Can't Be Made Up, Study Suggests
The following study involved a small number of people, so therefore further research would be needed to verify the results:

"If you think staying in bed on the weekends will make up for a weeks' worth of sleep deprivation, think again. A new study finds that going long periods without sleep can lead to a sort of "sleep debt" that cannot simply be undone with a little extra snoozing from time to time.

.... our natural sleep-wake cycle, or circadian rhythm ..... goes hand-in-hand with the periods of light/dark we experiences as the sun rises and sets. Our natural tendency to want to be awake during the day may mask signs of sleep debt when it's light out. But this protective effect may go away as darkness arrives, the researchers say.

.. Chronic sleep loss could leave these individuals "vulnerable to accidents and errors," the researchers say." http://www.livescience.com/health/lost-sleep-catch-up-100113.html

Funny article Chloe, but I see a full day of bad puns coming.

Solar said...

Nice pooper.!

I saw that same article the other day, and was going to say something about it..butt, i didn't want to be the but of the jokes that I know would be coming from U pinks....so I left it out in the end, and no butts about it. Nice day of 35 today, and Im surprised that im able to get on line...

Solar said...

Out the door for a little while, later.! o I forgot...scratch, scratch....ahhhhh scratch...

Chloe said...

MG Solar, You were worried about the pinks! You're the one we have to worry about. I cringe to think about what you'll say next. Ha!

Also, I think the story you have to worry about is the one about not being able to make up for lost sleep. I scanned the comments over at TM, and if I'm not mistaken, you were still commenting after 1 AM! You need to forget about those butts big guy, and catch up with your sleep!

Chloe said...

"I see a full day of bad puns coming."

... none from you Don? Ha! On second thought,
I'm sure Solar will have plenty of them to come.

One last thing:

Ivy, I woke up this morning wondering how your pup is doing. I may have missed it, but did you ever get her results back from the vet, saying what kind of rash it was?

Please let us know if she's doing any better.

Solar said...

I wonder why there are different shape of butts, on women....I think that I know now....

Ivy Green said...

A loaded topic, Chloe.

Ivy Green said...

Chloe,
Thanks for asking about Meg. She seems to be responding to the meds. They haven't said what kind of bug it is. It's going to take a long time to recover completely, if she ever does. She'll always be susceptible because of her poor immune system. But she's been perky and never misses a meal. That's what a dog's life is all about, right?

Carol said...

Well, I'd say that some things look better in hindsight. Since it is not a local phenomena I came home from work and got on my giselle and did some floor exercises.

Increasing exercise was one of my New Years resolution and I'm sorry to say that goal lasted only a couple of days. I told you Solar you needed to crack the whip.

The sleep info you discussed here is what I have read for quite a while now. Adequate time sleeping is important and can't be made up later. Also it is best that we keep the same sleep routine every day of the week instead of trying to catch up on weekends.

jan said...

Good post Chloe. I am one of those women who has always had an ample derierre and good sized thighs too. When I was younger I had a fairly flat belly. Well those of us in that category have the last laugh. the article said after menopause that we women tend to lose our butts and thighs but I don't think so. Some of us don't.

A lot of people have made fun of Jennifer Lopez for her big butt but I think she looks great.

Otey,

Now where were we, with wondering what, we are to do with wide bottoms......Life is all about Ass:

U will notice that the pink that put up this post is not here talking about her _ _ _, I want he to talk about this a little bit more...

Carol said...

Chloe, where did you find the dog butt pic?

Now that young buck in pic #2 must have a serious butt workout program or he had a butt implant. He's got one fine tush.

Chloe said...

Oh man, I can tell I made a BIGGGGGG mistake with this post. I sure never thought Solar would be telling me to get back here and comment on butts. LOL Solar!

What I was really talking about was weight distribution in relation to our health. I should have known better!

Someone, QUICK! Put up another post before Solar comes up with any more butt jokes. Please!

Chloe said...

Solar, Do you remember the ass emoticons we all had a lot of fun at TM with:

(_!_) = Normal Ass
(__!__) = Big Ass
(!) = Tight Ass
(_?_) = Dumb Ass
(_E=MC2_) = Smart Ass
(_$_) = Rich Ass
(_x_) = Kiss My Ass
(_X_) = Get Off My Ass

Carol, That dog was on the internet, just like the rest of the pics. Anything you want, you can find out there.

Chloe,

U R really pushing it...I read that, and another article about robot sex..and have a joke about it...Maria wanna hear it??

Chloe said...

Jan! How is little Abigail? Have you been out to see her again?

Chloe said...

Mary, Say no!!

jan said...

"But she's been perky and never misses a meal. That's what a dog's life is all about, right?"

Ivy, I am so sorry to hear your Meg is ailing. I suspect being perky and still being able to eat is a very good sign.

Solar said...

Chloe, that was a lot of fun....the last one was mine....and I think I said to you know hoooo.!

Coreen said...

Not at all sure that the 'underlying study' has
any merit, but it sure gives new meaning to the
phrase 'fat ass'....

jan said...

Chloe, thank you for asking about Abigail. She is doing very well. I have not seen her since last Tuesday. Amie has had her mother with her and Amie's dad (my son) lives in town and I know they have been over to visit. Amie's husb has 2 sets of parents in town too. I am giving the parents some time to get settled. I have just told them to let me know if there is anyting they need. As soon as I hear more, I will let everyone know.

Solar said...

Coreen, is very conveniently not sitting in on this one...butt she will be in a little while, if she just stop sitting it out.....

Solar said...

Glad to hear everything is going well though, Jan. Sounds like quite a crowd there already, and she's probably awfully tired.

I love getting Max all riled up...and XR is fun...cept when he talked to patsi like that...

Carol, good for you getting on the floor, and working you butt off...should do that at least 2-3 times per wk....get someone like that guy in pic #2 they don't cost much.....

Chloe said...

... would you quit with the 'butt' please! You're killin' me here. LOL

don1one said...

I understand Solar. I'm getting rid of a very painful customer right now, and I always worry too much. Wish my give a damn would bust.

Is there no end to the bad puns here?

I've heard the butt men admire most is the best size for carrying a woman through pregnancy. I'm not sure if that's Jennifer size or not, though there's definitely some cultural differences.

Chloe said...

LOL. Now he's even numbered the pictures!

Solar said...

yeah Butt.!

Chloe said...

Coreen... anybody, please put up a new post.

Solar said...

Don,

Ivy Green said...

Jan,
Thanks for the kind words about Meg. She has a terrible skin infection, mostly affecting her tail, that is made more difficult to treat by her diabetes and immune disorder. I talked at length with her vet today who surprised me with a recommendation we use iodine diluted in the baths. We'd been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide, but she said stop using that and use the iodine. My mother always had iodine around the house. I hadn't thought about iodine in years, didn't even know it was still on the market.

Solar said...

anybody butt me???

Solar said...

Ivy, sorry about you puppy also.....I just don't know what to say sometimes about those kind of things....

Solar said...

I wasn't even going to say anything at all butt, it just all came out.......ok, ok, that's the last one,,no if ands, or butts about it.....

Chloe said...

It must be a bacterial infection then, Ivy. I guess she's hoping that iodine will keep it from spreading. I'm not sure about hydrogen peroxide. I know it cleans, and I guess it kills bacteria too. At least it doesn't burn like iodine. But diluted, I imagine it won't burn.

Chloe said...

Solar, I think you would be a good one to put up a post. You could always do one on the sex robot.

U know I used to like watching the ballroom dancing on pbs...they put a lot into the training to compete...and they were very graceful doing it....

Solar said...

I got pistol whipped twice in boot camp, one of those times...broke my collar bone...the name of my master drill instructor was Estrada....Erick Estradas' Father..the shit....It never healed right...and to this day it does not connect right...like a dent by the shoulder...

don1one said...

Wow. Much safer in the Air Force. Though I did spend a good amount of my time in trouble.

Coreen said...

Yes, the ballroom dancing contests were
interesting, dancing with the stars started like that, and while I still enjoy watching it,
the routines are pretty over the top, more
like a vegas show then ballroom dancing.

And I give all the dancers credit, since it surely is not easy.

Where's Mary, didn't you say you used to dance?

Solar said...

I watched dancing with the stars a cpl of times when it came out...but i knew-know that sooner or later, it all turns into a show to get work for out of work actors. the reality show made me make up my mind not to watch any tve...and the commercials didn;t help either....

Solar said...

I always kick my self in the butt, I should have enlisted into the Air Force...could have gotten an education....

Carol, If you're around, I think CBob is looking for you. He just made posts to some of the people he is missing, and I think this one was to you:

Chloe, C-bob is a pretty wise man. I have no wisdom to offer anyone.

Solar said...

C-bob, is asking people back...he should try talking to more than a cpl of them...once in a while...not just the click....

don1one said...

Did you know the Air Force uniform was based on a blue business suit? Very different experience.

I had some friends that taught ballroom dancing and they'd haul me in when they needed an extra guy. I never really cared for it though. I think maybe if I had one partner all of the time so I could get really good, but my mind just sort of shut off while I was dancing.

Chloe said...

That's silly Carol. You're the wisest of them all.

Yep Solar, it does seem like a click.

Coreen said...

On CNBC, now, "inside the mind of google"...
a company that mystifies me....it will be repeated at midnight, if anyone is interested
(Carol, soon you will be up & running again all
over the TV)

And Solar, you noticed the clique mentality,
but I guess are we a clique?!...

Chloe said...

... we welcome others with open arms, don't we?

Coreen said...

Chloe,

You posted the NYT article about Harold Ford
earlier, are you a fan...Upfront, I am...

If he decides to run in NY, watch for the NYT
to come out for him, they did an editorial
last week directed at the party bosses trying
to orchestrate the senate race, & it was pretty
clear they like Haorld Ford, together with
several recent complimentary pieces about him.

But the long knives are out, over at Daily Beast, Peter Beinert? tries pretty hard to undermine him.

Chloe said...

"(Carol, soon you will be up & running again all
over the TV)"

Just remember to be selective, Carol.

Chloe said...

Yes, I am a Harold Ford fan, Coreen. To know him is to love him. Well, I guess in this case, it'd have to be, to know 'of' him.

Chloe said...

"I always kick my self in the butt"

.. I knew you'd slip another one in there.

Coreen said...

And Harold Ford has mended fences with Don Imus, (that is where I first heard of Harold Ford) who was a huge supporter when he was running for senator in TN, but got angry with
Ford when Ford did not back Imus during the
Rutgers dustup, harold stayed silent & Imus
was pretty angry about it, but the other day
when NY Gov. Paterson was on, Imus mentioned
that Harold had apologized & though Imus
called him a 'weasel'(lovingly) he said Harold
was coming back on the show soon & all is forgiven.

Solar said...

Coreen, I am not talking out of school, I said as much to them a while back...I don't think that anyone is a click, until they think that they are the in group, and treat others as the out group....

I know that blogs are set up to talk to the ones that you want to..only...but after 1-2 years you might just want to say hI...

Chloe doesn't know, that I know, she comments on my posts sometimes...jut to let me know that someone is there...talking to me.....I like the challenge..of getting the smart ones ( t hey are all smart) to comment...i think...but getting a little tired about it...I do think that it is a very good blog, i learn something most of the times....and that is my reason to go there...and to harass keep the war talk straight a little...only Pogo will call them out like I do...about the wars....sorry if im breaking our rule not to talk about tm...i do like it, and would not even talk about it ..if i didn't, but they did chase a few independents out by not talking to them at all...ignoring them...

Carol said...

Chloe, today I pulled up the blog on Iphony while I was standing in our nurse's station in one of our clinics waiting for them to call out the patient. Usually I can't get any reception in the jail but I was close to a window. I saw that first butt pic
and thought I hit the wrong button.

Then I laughed and showed it to our mental health director and told her that someone in our group was feeling a little frisky today. I was sure it probably came from Solar or Don and was surprised when I saw your name on the post.

It did help to motivate me to start working out even if there is no hope for my butt without some of those steroids. A nice ass requires some muscle building. That is probably why it's healthier to have a nice ass.

Chloe said...

It would have been nuts for Harold to involve himself in that mess. I felt sorry for Imus, but what could Harold have done.

Coreen said...

In Imus' eyes, not run & hide & stay silent....

Chloe said...

"I saw that first butt pic
and thought I hit the wrong button."

Carol, I was just laughing so hard when I read your post. I wish I'd figured some way to sign Solar's name to it. That would have been hilarious.

Solar said...

I used to like to watch Imus, and that is where i first seen H. Ford also..I hope that he gets a break...what I have seen of him..I liked...but I hope that he doesn't owe too many favors for keeping him around so long...and waiting for the chance..they pick the chance for him...the dnc does that is....what will he pay back with???

Chloe said...

I like Imus Coreen, but have never listened to him much. I guess he felt betrayed, who wouldn't have.

Chloe said...

"what will he pay back with???"

.. it's hard to trust any of them any more, isn't it Solar?

Coreen said...

Harold Ford is the Chairman of the Dem. Leadership Council & is working for a Wall Street firm & his wife's stepdad is a former
big wheel wall streeter, so it will be interesting to see this develop...

Chloe said...

It's funny that Jan mentioned J Lo, because picture #2 (numbered by Solar) looks like the bottom half is J Lo, and they just put that guys top half on the pic.

Carol said...

I'm kind of glad I don't have my satelitte out here right now. I would feel compelled to watch all that horror in Haiti. When those catastrophies occur I feel it is my duty to try to suffer along with the people experiencing them. I did that with Katrina and the tsunami.

I will send my donation to the Red Cross, pray for them and keep my head in the sand this time. I just can't watch it.

Chloe said...

I just felt like I'd be discriminating if I didn't put a guys pic in there too.

Solar said...

sorry I keep saying click...clique that should read.

Solar said...

Chloe,

I like H. Ford, don't get me wrong...but i also like Chris Dodd, and Frank...and others...been very mad about that..now I just won't expect anything other than what I know will happen.....this way I won't be disappointed...

Solar said...

Coreen, thanks for that info..the wall street part....not another one.!!

Coreen said...

Carol, another place to donate is the William
Clinton Foundation, it is pretty simple to do so there.

Also, some friends who text said there is a way
to donate $5 or $50 by texting a word, but not surewhat it is, but it must be on the internet somewhere.

Solar said...

Ok, Im going to butt out for a while...later

Coreen said...

$5, or $10 (not $50) my mistake

Carol said...

I used to like Harold Ford a lot but if the party bosses really want him, I worry. I've lost faith in the Dems, really don't want to be one anymore.

When the Repubs were in charge it was easy to blame them for everything that went wrong. Then we got a few more Dems than Repubs in legislative branch and things didn't get better but we could blame it on the fact that there weren't enough of us to make any changes. Now we got the whole enchilada and who can we blame for the mess?

don1one said...

Poor solar, always the butt of our jokes. I look for smile lines first, any woman putting up with me will need a good sense of humor.

I've pretty much given up the news programs since New Years. I've decided it just stresses me and doesn't make a bit of difference in my life. I'll read a little bit of huffpost, a little red state, some WaPo, some Washington Times, and local headlines. Lots of health and science and twitter where i talk walleye fishing with the squirel.

Chloe said...

"this way I won't be disappointed..."

That's the best way to be. Don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed.

Just go by your gut feeling. If you like them, you like them, so you give them a chance.

And Carol, you'll have to be disciplined when you get all those channels out there. Decide ahead of time how you're going to handle it. No depressing stuff is the important thing. You are what you think. Remember that.

nite.

Solar said...

Carol,

If one was to take a back seat and look at how this mess got us here...it was both of the D's and the R's ...Clinton had a lot to do with it...when he allowed large corps to open up offices over seas, (subsidiaries) and not pay any taxes...lot of loop holes..and a few other things that he did...but the worst was what the Bush admin did...he and Greenspan did not take care of us...and now Obama has shown to me...that he cares more for the Banks, and wall st, just like they all did before them.....we have been sold the idea, that wall st has to make very big $ in order for us to live on the crumbs...I think that we should have let it all fall down...we are still in the same pa rogue.....

Coreen said...

Carol, I have nothing against the Red Cross at all, but mentioned Bill Clinton's Foundation
since it contacted me (& probably you since you
gave to Hillary, I think) & I found it very
easy to just do it there.

Carol said...

Coreen said...

I really don't disagree with anything you are saying Solar...

I have stopped waiting for that champion to
correct the world's evils & now simply try to
take care of my own little world as best as I can...

Carol said...

Yes Coreen, I get a email every day asking for donations. I made many to Hilliary, first time in my life giving significant money to any campaign.

The Red Cross was good to us during our hurricane.

There were also some neat little church organization from somewhere that were here handing out food, water and supplies. I wish I had their names to return the favor with some donations.

thornwil said...

Coreen & Carol,
Text the word HAITI to 90999. It will automatically donate $10.00.

Coreen said...

Carol, you have first hand knowledge of the
help that the Red Cross gave, so selecting them would seem to be a good way to go.

Solar said...

Same here Coreen, and it looks like all of us do. I have noticed, that we are basically people that respects Mother Earth, and all of its inhabitants...if we just...all take care of our little parts of the world...it will be that much better....we are all doing that I think...Ivy, You, Carol, Don, all of you with the birds, and all...the thing is that someone always comes along to f it up for the rest...and then we have to start all over again...they know this...and that is what gets me pissed off....feeling like a chump....well, I think that I will wind down, and see if I can get some sleep tonight..night John boy....

don1one said...

I like the Salvation Army. I haven't liked the Red Cross since I saw how their employees lived overseas. I think too much of the donations go to helping themselves.

Ivy, I feel so bad for poor Meg and for you. I know I have felt so helpless when Lobie has been sick. They can't say anything, like babies.

When I was growing up there were so few medications my parents kept, but iodine was one of them. I don't think they use hydrogen peroxide much any more other than to clean up blood on a wound. I will defer to Carol and Mary. I have been out of hospital care for some time.

Carol, I too like the Red Cross. I have a nurse friend who volunteered with the RC for years when disaster struck. She and her husband were often assigned in different parts of the US. She didn't do any overseas assignments. She always spoke highly of Red Cross.

Carol, you are a kind and generous person.

I have not commented much on political issues. Sorry, I just don't often have an opinion. But I have learned a lot here about politics and it motivates me to read more about the people you all talk about. So keep writin and I will keep readin.
