Anyone home yet?

Even Hubs is joking, "That dike oughta start breaking pretty soon!"

Carol said...

I thought it did. If it takes too much longer you will need to go get your pillow and blankey to take with you.

Carol said...

Sorry, I didn't have time to work on this post. It was just a last minute thought.

I could have pulled up some material on the benefits of having your colonoscopy but then Don, Solar and I would have to feel guilty for not having ours. Don't need any more reasons for guilt.

I found some stuff about the gorgeous moon Jan commented on today...

Gibbous Moon

"The full moon after next Wednesday's will be on Thursday, December 31, 2009. That means there will be two full moons during a single month this year, a relatively rare occurrence. That's why it's called a BLUE MOON, as in "once in a blue moon"."

Are you on the launch pad yet? If it takes much longer, you may make the Guinness Golytely record book.

Ivy Green said...

That's my goal. Gotta make your mark somewhere.

Ivy Green said...

I've never had a "normal" system. That's why they were running G.I. series on me when I was 9.

Carol said...

Sorry.

Ivy Green said...

Guess it's about time to pack it in. Not expecting much sleep tonight, but I will at least try to get a little cat nap.

Speaking of cat naps, did Fiddle figure out her new bed? I got one of those huts for Miss College's Cat. I've seen her in it once.

Hubs wanted me to let you know he's tried to be supportive tonight, but that my mood has not been great. I did have to run out on him a few times.

I'm neither Catholic nor Jewish Carol, no guilt. An article on the balance of technology and good old common sense and nutrition might be nice. I'm sure you have lots of stories.

My grandmother was a nurse and disliked doctors, and lived into her 90s, my mother has had multiple tumors from working with carcinogenic solvents and refused chemo and radiation and is close to 80, and I'm big into herbal teas and nutrition. I'm fighting a few things but with the stress in my life it's amazing there's not more. I think more than anything we believe we're healthy, therefore we are.

In Turkey I saw a place in Ephesus where they gave patients opium and then laid them on tables. The tables had tubes connected to them and staff would talk into the tubes telling the patients they were healed. The patients thought the gods were talking to them and in many cases would go get well.

I think the real secret of the French diet is that they eat fresh food, live slower, get together with friends and family to talk and laugh, and have lots of fun annoying the rest of the world.

Ivy, I'm just curious. Type A or Type B?

Carol said...

I agree with you on that one Don 100%. It's called the placebo effect.

That opium would probably cure me of everything also.

I'm going to check out my new book on tape. With the way it came to me, I think I have to. Nite. Good luck tomorrow Ivy. We'll keep you in our thoughts.

Ivy Green said...

Don, do you mean Blood type? A+.

As far as the temperament, I don't know...not an A, at least not anymore.

Your mother is a bit like mine.

Anonymous said...

Sorry Ivy, I meant temperament. If I can generalize, which I'm sure will break out more arguments, Type A's have fewer infection and viruses, but more gastro-intestinal illnesses and allergies, B's just the opposite. You had mentioned problems early, and I was going through the series early too. My biggest problem is that I internalize everything.

Good luck. Are you going to get any sleep?

Ivy Green said...

Carol,
Enjoy your tape. Did you say you got a series set or just "Dragonfly?" You may miss a sub-plot or two if not starting at the beginning.

Ivy Green said...

Don,
It does sound like I could still be a Type A temperament from the catalogue of ailments.

Ivy Green said...

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm not counting on sleep tonight. It usually requires an ambien and I'm not taking one of those tonight. Were you here when we had our big Ambien thread? That was interesting. Sounded like you have a thought or two about that.

Hi Ivy, I hope everything is working for you. I could not get my comments to work earlier so I just left and rented a movie.

Hope all is going well and you are getting all cleaned out.

I have laughed until my sides hurt at your's and Carol's running commentaries.

Ivy Green said...

Jan,
You know us "I's". We love to bring laughter to others even at our own expense...as long as we are in on the joke.

I'm "moving along." The directions said to finish drinking the yuk stuff by 10 pm, and I polished it off by 9:30. I never thought I would get it all down.

Hubs may have thought he was supportive, but he had the nerve to eat a piece of pumpkin pie right in front of me. He warms his in the microwave; I like to eat it cold.

Did you open the moon link?

jan said...

Ivy, thanks for the post on the moon. A Gibbous moon - did not know that.

When I was a teenager, I loved the song "blue moon" I sang in a trio with 2 other girls. We sang a lot at small town meetings like the Lions Club and places like that. Once we sang with Leon McAuliffe in Tulsa.

Ivy, I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Write as soon as you are feeling well. I want to hear how it went.

Don, I am a type A I suppose - Allergies and GI disturbances are sure my issues.

Carol, I think it is definitely synchronicity that your river rat friend left those tapes at you door just when we were talking about the author.

jan said...

one of the songs we sang in our little girls trio was "Blue Moon" Didn't know then what a blue moon was - just thought it was a song.

jan said...

We rented the movie "Angels and Demons" with Tom Hanks. It was fun and fast moving. A great surprise ending. Now I want to see Rome.

Ivy Green said...

I wasn't familiar with the term "gibbous moon" until a few years ago...when a colleague named her sailboat that and used the term as part of her e-mail.

Ivy Green said...

I think I have to see "Angels." Didn't read that book, though I'm sure it's on our bookshelf (on Hubs's side, I'm sure).

Carol said...

I heard that Angel and Demons book wasn't any good. Maybe it was just a let down after his other book that was so good. You liked the movie Jan?

I hope you did make some good progress finally last night Ivy or that Doc may get a unpleasant surprise when he sticks that tube in. You might want to warn him that there may be a geyser coming.

Where was Chloe last night. Maybe she read about that "once in a blue moon" and she had several projects that she'd been saving for that time. I have used that expression but never knew where it came from. It is interesting how we use certain expressions that we have no clue the reason they came about.

Carol said...

I'm a type A also Don. I wonder if it is because I was hyperthyroid all those years. I really think I had it ever since high school. Looking back, I remember the exact time my body made the transition. Fortunately or unfortunately it wasn't diagnosed until less than 10 years ago, and then I had to diagnosis it myself. I was diagnosed as everything but.

Carol said...

I hope Fiddler found used her Kitty Cube last night. I will look for evidence of cat hair in it.

jan said...

I didn't read the book "Angels & Demons" but John did and he did not think it was that good. We both just read the new one "The Lost Symbol" and loved it. I liked the movie A&D however.

jan said...

The movie, A&D was not as good as the first one. It also was about the Catholic church and their election of the pope. I like about anything with Tom Hanks. As I mentioned earlier the movie made me want to go to Rome.

jan said...

Carol, we knew when we were going to school in Houston that you had something - you had the rapid heart rate and we (or you) kept trying to figure out what that was about.

jan said...

oops! I just realized we have a new post. Oh Well, I like talking to myself.
