"Bet we could do a whole thread about Tiger Woods"
Most aren't all that interested in Tiger Woods' situation (maybe even sick of hearing about his problem), but his situation brings in a lot of other issues that come into question, and one of them is his right to privacy. Another is the question of 'why'. Being a celebrity comes with a high price. They not only have more 'opportunities' to get off track than the rest of us, but they also often pay a lot higher price than those with so much less to lose.
Tiger definitely has a lot to lose. To start, there's his devoted (past tense, I guess) wife and two babies. Then there's all that endorsement money that he makes, which is apparently a lot more money than he makes golfing. He's also lost the respect of those people who care about such things. I'm sure the list goes on and on. To me, the most interesting question to hear him answer would be: Was it worth it? Although I'm sure he never expected to be caught. I'm not sure he had any control either, given the way he was thinking at the time. Still, it must be pretty embarrasing, and his words may not be as valuable this month, as they were last month.
"Sorry, Tiger. When you make millions of dollars by putting yourself in the public eye in golf and make even more money from endorsements, you don’t get a “simple, human measure of privacy.”
One of the recurring questions involving celebrities and politicians is: What is their right to privacy?
Once you become a public figure — which you become by participating in newsworthy events such as sports or by accepting a job in public office — you forsake the same right to privacy that other people may enjoy." Sorry Tiger – you traded your right to privacy away

A really cute Penguin picture. If you arrow forward (after you get to the link), there are some very scary surfer shots on some scary looking waves. Plus a guy riding a horse and holding an eagle, as well as many other interesting pictures, including: puppies, bears and rabbits (even one of a toilet, which fits in with some of the conversation here today). Chloe, I was just getting something to post
since the comments were edging up, saw something in today's paper that I thought
might be of interest, but it can wait....& I didn't think it was time for more Christmas
things yet...
... sure it's time for Christmas things Coreen. Go ahead and put it up whenever you're ready. If I had seen it first, I would have waited on this one.
There's plenty of room for all of our posts.
Chloe, what I had started had nothing to do with Christmas...
I always enjoyed Jacks music links over on TM, and now he's doing them over on Facebook. So I'm bringing over the last one he linked there, because I just love hearing the old songs that I forgot about long ago. I hope he won't mind, but I think he's decided not to join us here, so it's my way of bringing a little of him over here: I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry - Hank Williams Live
Coreen, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. But whatever it is, what I said still goes. Put it up whenever you're ready.
As to your 'why' do powerful, wealthy celebrities cheat, not sure, but I would guess
that they really don't think they will get caught. They have so many enablers surrounding
them, catering to them, that they may think they are secure, yet in today's instant information age, they should really know that it always will be exposed....there's just too much $$$ to be made by those looking to expose them...
"They have so many enablers surrounding
them, catering to them, that they may think they are secure"
I think you're right Coreen, that along with their inflated ego, and I guess a sense of entitlement. Not sure about that part though.
Not so complicated, its just because they can,
the consequences be damned...
10 is really pushing the envelope and I bet that is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe he wasn't comfortable with all that money. It almost seemed that he wanted to get caught. It's not like they don't see the problems that occur when your a celebrity and get caught in these situations.
Chloe,
Im going to go with your schmuck comment of Tiger. There is a scientific explanation to it also..sort of....at his age, and with his money, and the groupies, the call of evolution, was hard to ignore for him. He is a human animal, and like all animals....they are not monogamous....
"Not so complicated, its just because they can,
the consequences be damned"
LOL Coreen. You just simplified that, and I agree with you. They're no more complicated than the rest of us.
"He is a human animal, and like all animals....they are not monogamous..."
I think there are a few monogamous animals Solar (Ha! But I don't know which ones).
Yeah, I do stand by that schmuck comment. Just look at a picture of his wife, and you can't help but think that he's not bright enough to know what he's got though. I heard a rumor today, that she's been paid by his handlers to stay put for a while. But there's no doubt in my mind that she'll get outa there when the time is right.
Carol, I think 10 is just the tip of the iceberg too.
Well, I'm checking out of here early tonight. It's been a long day. Please Coreen, go ahead and activate your post. I think the main reason I posted this was so I could upload that picture of his beautiful house in Florida. It's just about as good as it gets, imo.
See you all tomorrow.
I heard tonight that his wife may be headed out of the country. That would serve him right if she left. I would be insulted to be offered to be paid to stay with my husband. It would make her look a little shallow and from what I have heard, she isn't.
They thought that wolves, and certain birds, and other species were not...but what they did find out, is that they appeared not to be unfaithful..cos they just has a fling; and did go back to the nest. the ties that bind, are the young .....
Beside the story of her mother being rushed to
a hospital early this am, there was some report
that she had purchased a home in Sweden...
The thing that is sad about Tiger is that he sets back the black golfer's... he will be judged by his golfing crowd, a lot harsher than the general public???
"Dove couples remain together for life unless they are separated by events beyond their control. The are so devoted to each other they will defend each other by an means including sacrificing their own life to protect their mate. The take great care of each other. For example, if one has been involved in a struggle or is ill the other will preen their feathers for them, a sign of affection."

Maybe that's why doves are a sign of peace. If you want peace, mate for life.
Solar, they reported on TV, since all this came out, that the golf guys do have a reputation for being pretty rowdy. We just thought it was a tame sport.
Then there are those guys who just say they are out playing golf. It probably was easier to get away with before they invented cell phones.
I just put up another post, its about circles,
read it today & it made me think about just
how many things revolve around a circle or a round shape.
Carol,
I agree, just that Golf, is supposed to be a different kind of sports..and different kind of people...to me..all people are the different kind..but he was blk, and that is going to be a very big area of future commentaries...
Solar, my post reminded me of you & your views
about life...
Coreen, ...good, and my last comment for the night...he had a standard to hold up..imo..he had a responsibility to all of the young blacks...just like any football or other sports jocks...
You need to look at my new post please....
