Coreen, The picturs are wonderful - I love the colors and all the leaves. I have not seen any houses around here decorated for Halloween. My neighbors have put out pumpkins.

Carol said...

Coreen, did you go take all those pics? You may have missed your calling.

Coreen said...

Thanks guys, & yes see what you have done Carol....you have created a 'monster'.

Jan, the autumn color changing is great, but
it leaves lots of work---I have had to use my trusty electric leaf blower twice to just
clean the leaves from our driveway----& its about 500' long.

Going down for my tea---see you a little later.

Just saw on national news a mother and son rescued from an SUV on a flooded street in Lake Charles, LA. I don't know if that was last night or this morn. It was dark there.

Coreen, so glad to hear you like tea also. I love it - and feel it helps my osteo arthritis too. If I try to walk in the morning before I have tea, all the joints smart a bit - but after my tea, I can walk with no problem.

jan said...

Coreen, Do you all bag your leaves or compost them?

jan said...

Carol and Coleen, you both work magic with a camera.

That story is a couple of days old Jan.

I've already had one small pot of coffee. I have to have my coffee. Studies keep changing their minds about what coffee will do for ya. One day, it's good and the next it's bad. Well it's good for me. Keeps me moving forward and keeps me using up the TP.

I'm making up a new batch of nectar. Those kids are eating me out of house and home with their sweet tooth they are.

One just came up to me outside and said "get after it sister, we're running low.

Great pictures Coreen. I was surprised to see that police line tape - I don't think I've ever seen it for sale here, and I didn't realize you could use it. It sure adds to the effect.

Carol, I notice we have a severe weather alert (so does Solar), but then it says sunny all day here. I don't get it. I guess my yahoo buddies are talking about only a few areas.

Well, wanted to pop in, but now I have to get back to work. See y'all later.

ps A 500' driveway Coreen? Man, that's long. You must have a lot of property. It sure is beautiful - I can see that.

Chloe, you aren't getting out of posting your Emma pics. I promised a haunting if ya didn't and a haunting you will get. I'm sending Solar. Ya hear me Solar? Get your space craft warmed up.

Carol said...

Supposed to be clear there Chloe. Maybe they're talking about flood warnings for creeks and rivers around you. That's still is a problem.

Yes Jan, it seems like when you go through the worst trauma in your life, that is the time when all your support systems have bitten the dust. It must be some kind of test and that must be in the rules. You have to do it without any help. It's a bitch. But you passed the test, maybe a few more gray hairs, but you passed.

I did hit a shrink for one visit during my rough period. It was my Bipolar friend's shrink. She just loved him and he was a very cool guy.

When I went for my visit, I took a folder with me so I could look like I was there for some business and not like I was nuts and needed a shrink. You know these small towns and pretty many medical people know me.

I was the first patient scheduled after lunch and the office was still closed and locked when I got there. I was trying to be inconspictuous. Didn't work because for some strange reason I set off my truck alarm and the entire medical area was notified that I was there.

Finally made it in the office and the clerk gave me a history form to fill out. It had one question that asked if there was any history of mental illness in the family. I answered, yes, the entire family is nuts.

Another question asked to describe my current problem and I wrote, too long a story, I have written a book about it. I was sitting there chuckling about the questions and my answers when I realized that that might make me look a little crazy to the receptionist but then I thought she is probably used to it.

When I got to see the shrink, I found out I had completely overlooked the section that evaluated for attention deficit disorder. How ironic.

The shrink recognized that I had a lot falling on my head at the time and then the fat lady hit me also. He offered me either counseling or better living through chemistry. I passed on both. I told him that I was still hanging by a thread but if that one started to unravel, I'd let him know.

Can I hear you? Yeah since early this am...I can hear all of you; loud and clear. Solor, I think we have a UFO lurking here. Look at the map. It's off the west coast of Africa and it says "Unknown".....

Solar said...

The sun is hurting me too much right now.!

Carol said...

Ahhhh, they just dropped the hydrologic prediction for the river finally. It is within a safe level for traveling back and forth. Thank's Mary, not my sister.

jan said...

Carol, you do have a way with words - you keep me laughing on here.

jan said...

Your story about going to see a therapist is great. I bet the people in that office got a kick out of your answers on the intake form.

Carol said...

Jan, there is a fine line between crazy and creative. A very fine line, almost minuscule. Maybe even one in the same, huh?

Solar said...

Carol,

Not a fine line...just the other end of it....hahaha...oops awuuuuu.

Solar said...

Finished my chores,,now for my exercise's...later

Carol said...

Rub it in Solar, your healthy behaviors, while I'm sitting here on my a-- eating hot pepper cheese and some good whole grain, gluten free, yummy crackers I got at Sam's yesterday. They had them there to sample some dips. The dips were OK, I make better, but the crackers were really good. Have a sesame seed taste.

They are also low sodium, and cholesterol free which I took care of by adding the cheese.

Carol said...

I want to get up and do my chores but I'm taking a post 2 days of stress cool down. That cool down period requires laziness and lots of eating of junk food. It's in the rule book. Check that out Solar.

Carol said...

Oh, and I've been on the phone, with work, all morning handling mini crises. The only difference with being at work today and being at home is that, at home, I can stay close to a food source.

Solar said...

Carol,

Looked it up in the book of Winkle: I does have some leneincy for the stress that you went through. It also says to walk it off...hey I don't make this stuff up..its all left here in print.

It also say's that the pinks should belly dance..to work it off that way, and to send pixxx's to the Pres...thats me..so pics please.....Hey.! I don't make this stuff up..all right here in the "Book Of Winkle"

Carol said...

Well, how bout that. I just got back from blowing off the decks and a walk with Maggie. I'm fixing to do that belly dance but the camera is nowhere in sight. I'll try to find it. Now what did Maggie do with it?

We posted on this somewhere, probably TM, but here they come again...protect yourself from "Emotional Vampires," and most of all, don't let yourself turn into one. lol

They'll suck the life out of you if you let them

Ivy Green said...

Thanks, Coreen, for the Halloween pictures. There has been a proliferation of scary-themed decorations in our neighborhood too. Personally, I prefer basic fall themes, i.e., leaves, pumpkins, mums, maybe a scarecrow or two, but the "Monster Mash" is a bit overboard for my tastes. I 'spose the little ones really love it though. The holiday is really for them.

Halloween means the end of October, really one of my favorite months (next to September :) and it makes me a little sad to see it go.

Back from Sat chores. We are going to a movie tonight - was trying to decide between Amelia and Whip It - I was getting my hair cut and heard the woman in the next chair talking about "whip it" said it was a good movie and mostly shot in Austin. Anyone heard anything else?

Carol said...

Interesing article you posted there Ivy. I have mostly number 2s to deal with. I can't think of any of the others but lots of 2s, lots and lots of 2s.

Sorry for your loss Ivy. November can be nice too.

jan said...

Ivy, sept & oct are 2 of my fav months too. Sad to see them go. It seems they go faster than the other months.

Tea!! What is your favorite? I like Chai Spice and a holiday one from Celestial Seasonings called "Nutcracker Sweet."

I have really gotten into tea-drinking since returning from the U.K. In Banchory, Scotland, I bought a "tea-for-one" china tea set decorated in a "garden birds of Britain" theme that was in a store-front window. It was the only one on hand, and a little old lady had to climb inside the store-front window to retrieve it. It was a "must have" for me. I identified some of the birds I saw on my nature walk, and the little old lady named the rest of them for me. Hand-carried it home through four plane-changes and through U.S. customs. What a treasure, and I make tea almost every afternoon now.

My hair cutter really skinned me alive - I like it short but I don't know about this. Oh well, it will grow out.

Carol said...

Jan couldn't find anything on Whip It on Rotten Tomatoes. That's a good site to see what people are thinking about a movie.

Rotten Tomatoes

jan said...

Ivy, Hmmmm I think I will make myself a pot of tea - sounds good on a cold afternoon. I have had a chai tea but not the Nutcracker Suite - sounds great.

Carol said...

Jan, are you sure that is not at the Adult Entertainment Theater?? Whip It??

jan said...

Ivy, your tea set sounds lovely - wish I could offer all of you a nice cup of tea. I think it is a lovely British custom to have tea in the afternoon - so civilized!

jan said...

Carol, I am having spasms of laughter - Whip it is about a young girl who joins a girl roller derby.

jan said...

Let me look up the name again.

jan said...

Yes, it is Whip It. Drew Barrymore directs it and Ellen Page is the young girl.

jan said...

Carol, are rolling in your floor b/c you got me again???

jan said...

Off to make tea, back soon.

Carol said...

Well, I couldn't find it on Rotten Tomatoes.

Carol said...

Oops I found it. It was down past the adult entertainment advertisements.

Carol said...

82% liked it on Rotten Tomatoes.

Carol said...

I'd have some tea too, it might just class me up a bit. All I have is Sleepy Time Tea and some organic Green Tea that expired last year. Which do you think I should make?

Carol said...

I have a little tea pot too Ivy. Or is it I'm a little tea pot?? Nope, I'm not short and stout so it must be I have a little tea pot.

Anonymous said...

Carol, I put up a new thread.

I have to catch up on all the comments here, but I did see the one where you thought I'd be too lazy to post Emma's pictures. Now way! I'm anxious to show her off.

Anonymous said...

Jeez..Now = No

Ivy Green said...

As soon as you mentioned Drew Barrymore I recognized daughter (aka, "Miss College") saw that movie last weekend. She said it was great. She chose between it and "Wild Things", deciding to save "Wild Things" to see when BF wasn't working. She invited me to go with her, but it was too last minute, she ended up going on her own. I was proud of her for not staying home alone, and not being too self-conscious to go out by herself to a matinee.

jan said...

Carol, sleepy time tea will probably best be drunk at night before sleep. I don't think tea goes bad so the green tea would be fine. If anyone knows different - speak up!

Solar said...

Everybody had a cemetery story to scare the you ones...thats where is was bitten for the first time.....and here is a story a little different for my haloween contribution...go head and laugh now, but...

Coreen, I always keep my promises...here is you're U F O....the best I can do in a short amount of time. I just sat down and remembered it all, as if it was yesterday.!

It was dark, raining and cold: Just the way that I like Halloween Nights. This is my 200th one and they all seem the same, all blend together into one long memory of my victims. I was looking for my victim, my next meal. Earlier I found some prey that was walking along the streets by her self.

As I approached my prey, she stumbled twice and seemed unsure of her steps..that's when I took her and tasted her sweet nectar of blood..it had been one whole year since I have had a meal. I do not like to make my victims suffer; so as fast as I could, I found the Vein in her neck...It tasted sweet at first..and then I started to gag, and choke....she must have been in one of those Louisiana all night bars, and tasted like cheap liquor ...she tasted like Ripple, and some kind of chocolate covered crackers...I stopped drinking, and was not satisfied...and felt a little tipsy...Ripple. she probably Buys it from WM when not from the tervina's

That's when I saw them; the male called the female Coreen..I said it several times to my self; and decided that she was going to be my next meal. As I neared I could smell the quality of her wine...she was young and healthy, sorta like a celery stalk..but not tall, and short hair.

I did not even pay any attention to the male; I think that his name was Greg, he did not look like much to me and was insignificant, and will not be mentioned again (maybe)...I was concentrating on the sweet red nectar of Coreens blood; and mine for the taking.

I made ready to dine on the pulsating vein of the beautiful Coreen, or was it Doreen??....I still remember one of my favorites from long, long ago Chloe....or was it Chloe...memories all bend together until I can dine on quality. When all of a sudden when I was ready to take her into the night skies with me, a bright lite appeared above them both.

It was the hunters coming for me; they had been dogging me all night. What a stroke of luck, they beamed Greg up into their U F O :-) This all happened in a blink of an eye, and left me all alone and in need to feed......

As I was ready to pounce.......all of a sudden the morning sun was coming, and forced me to stop in mid air. At a 90% angle; I left at the speed of light...leaving little Coreen (is that a name of a song?) for the next time....

Solar said...

At top: you= young..is = i..running back and forth to hand out candy...lots of beautiful kids..almost over know. end at seven..
