It is Ivy. It's been happening on and off for a few days now. I think they're doing some kind of maintenance on the site is all. It'll eventually get back to normal.
I don't know enough about codex, and it takes a lot of reading...but I think thats what it is...the blog needs
a theme from Carol...or something. I still wouldn't worry about anything tho, not if it is happening to all of us...it has to be the blog...I think that it drank some of that swamp water.!
Afraid to try something else...the original code is going through..and that is what is allowing us to post...but it is lacking something more to keep up the avatars...if some of us delete our avatars, and let only a few post theirs..and this does not disrupt anything,, then that is what it is....Im going to erase mine altogether now.
Definitely by way of the swamp...I( Carol) would do a system restore to an earlier time..lets say two weeks ago...this should re-set what ever went wrong...?
Solar, I didn't realize we could click on the blank and see the pic. Your's of you pulling out your hair is so funny. Do you have any idea how often I've felt like doing just that on one of these computers.
Coreen, you don't have to do a New Post to be on the contributor list, just accept the invite and the blog will put you on the list. You need to be there.
Carol, 100% Unitarian Universalist, but I'm not sure about some of my answers. Some of the stuff, I answered according to how I've felt about it in the past, and still do on some level, but may be in the process of some changes. Then again, maybe not.
You do know I'm not a believer in the traditional sense, but I do have a lot of belief and faith in human beings, all animals and nature. I think you know that.
Mine is different than the first couple of times I did it years back. I used to come our Unitarian Universalism. I think the last time it was Buddhism. I guess I am evolving..or confused.
I just looked it up on Wiki, and I must admit that I completely agree with this first section of what it says, but not beyond that, so I'm quoting that section I agree with:
The Principles and purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association
"We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote"
* The inherent worth and dignity of every person; * Justice, equity and compassion in human relations; * Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; * A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; * The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; * The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; * Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
Solar, I was going to ask you your take on the whole thing. As you know, I am not a believer. I also don't acknowledge 'labels' like heathen, or any of the others. So I was very reluctant to answer those questions. But I did learn something. I'm happy with that list of stuff that I quoted from Wiki, and in no way do I think they have anything to do with religion. Nor would I ever belong to a group that had anything to do with religion.
If you guys look at that list, do you see it as having anything to do with religion? Like I said, I absolutely do not.
Ok, I would never contribute to the spiritual growth of a congregation... but I think a lot of what we discuss here at the Swamp has to do with spiritual growth. I think hummingbirds and daisies are spiritual. So may we 'are' contributing to the spirtual growth of the Church of the River.
Mainly because of the negative thing we associate with witches. The Wiccans are suppose to be different. I really don't know much about their philosophy.
I am partial to some of the Saints. Saint Anthony has helped me find many things that I had lost. And the two Marys. I have a thing for them also. I'm also partial to my sister Mary.
The problem I have with the whole witch thing is that it's about control. It's one thing to want control in our own lives, and I know we're capable of doing pretty much anything we want, with control of our thoughts.
But, when you start mixing up brews, and think you can control others too, that's going to far.
I did not even have to think twice about where i was going to end up in that test...the only reason that some one would not know, is because they are not sure of what they think....bet you 2 to 1 a religious person would agonize over it....trying to say the right things...don't get me started.....
I agree with you Solar. But the wording was a little tricky, imo. I have to believe in a Universal Intelligence, because it's just the way I think of the harmony of all of nature. But it has nothing to do with a god. Like you've said in the past, each person is that, within himself a whole.
Those religious people you're talking about would agonize, because they need a 'religion' to tell them what to think, and they'd have to worry about their answer falling into what they've been 'taught'. Like you say, taught=brainwashing. And I agree.
You said that very well. All organizations that want you to participate; is just to control you or someone else thru the number of people that are in it...justification in numbers...that why I don't like religions...even the satanic ones...but I do love Halloween....cos it scares the peeps and make them wonder about stuff...
Solar, You've been through a lot, I think. Most people aren't brave enough to come as far as you've come in overcoming beliefs that were instilled in them when they were very young. I really respect you for that. I say overcoming, because you began to see that some things just didn't make sense, and you rethought it all, and have now created a new philosophy that makes almost total sense to you. And in doing so, I think the world has become a much more beautiful place to you.
Hey, I did all that stuff too. And here we are. Forever changed.
The last time I did any trick or treating was years ago when I took my older sisters kids out to do it. She was living down here for a short time after her divorce. Had to be over 30 years ago.
We just went in the neighborhood where I grew up. She was staying at the house we grew up in. One memory really stuck with me.
We went up to one house and knocked on the door. The door was open and this fat assed guy was sitting in his lazyboy watching TV, only a foot from the door. He didn't even look over at us.
His pregnant wife, looked like she was ready to drop the baby at any minute, had to crawl over the jerk to give the kids some candy. Had a dishrag in her hand. She was so sweet and told the kids how good they looked.
I felt so bad for that woman. I wondered how could such a sweet lady be stuck with such a fat jerk. Just ruined the entire experience for me. It was scary Halloween alright.
Carol, I'm just curious, and have to ask why that bother you so much that it ruined your Halloween, and you remember it to this day. Was it because you felt so sorry for that woman, and knew you'd never let yourself get into a situation like that... I mean he sounds horrible, and it sounds like the lady deserved a better man, but what you saw was such a small snapshot of them.
Reading, about all of the sciences and seeing all of the program that have been (most) available on the cable science networks for the past 20-25 years has given me that knew philosophy, and it keeps growing with more and more things that are being discovered...
For some reason, their miserable life flashed though my head. I think that short moment in time was probably representative of their entire relationship. I don't know why it bothered me except that it did. Yes, I was glad that it wasn't me.
There are probably many women who are trapped in relationships like that because they don't think they deserve anything better or don't think they are capable of taking care of themselves until they can find something better.
Before people put names on the saints...they were gods before...god of wind, lost items, of animals etc, etc. another thing that religion took over for their own...did you know that it was against church law to believe in Christmas at one time?
Solar, seems I read something like that when looking up info on the origin of the Christmas traditions. Might have been one of the cable news channels. They usually have programs about that before Christmas.
If we just take a look at that synergy thing, that makes the most sense to me; and just in case that my common sense is not working just right. There is always somewhere-where we can get the answers. Some of these answers are in the Bible, just that they were taken from somewhere else..
but when we were in the early phase of evolution..they looked out for each other..they shared food, water and respected life..they had too, in order to survive...the ten commandments were copies of past laws, written and un-written.
I hope we haven't offended anyone with our conversation tonight. I broke my rule again.
One thing I have to say before I leave tonight, is that I have the greatest respect for other peoples beliefs in their religions. I have no desire whatsoever to change their minds.
I think what they believe is just as real as what I believe. Just different.
Carol, You came up with a diabetes program, so I bet you could come up with one for self esteem, if you could convince someone that it would help in the inmates rehabilitation. (?)
I didn't see that last post you made Solar. Well said, and I agree with you. It all makes sense, and we do need something to test our ideas against sometimes.

I tried to post and link without any practice...just a test
AH, there is my new avatar...me going ape on my computer and throwing it against the wall.!
Sorry to interrupt last thread.
There's no error message on my page now.
Solar, Have I told you lately how much I adore you? I just got back and delighted to see that you made a 'Testing' post. You always make me laugh.
Solar,
Whatever you did, it looks like you fixed it.
Ivy, Yes! Solar fixed the problem. You rock Solar!
Oh my gosh, the last two posts are missing the pictures again.
I may have spoken too soon...I've got that warning symbol again, but this time the message says "Done!" I am clueless.
The problem must be on "their" end.
Love your new picture though Solar. I see that it's 'you' beating on your computer. Don't we all feel like doing that from time to time. Ha!
I' going to the Man Cave. Hubs has the Alabama game on the big screen. Back in a bit...
It is Ivy. It's been happening on and off for a few days now. I think they're doing some kind of maintenance on the site is all. It'll eventually get back to normal.
At least we can still communicate. Here we are complaining because we don't have perfect a perfect world.
And I can't even type a perfect comment...lol
Chloe,

a theme from Carol...or something. I still wouldn't worry about anything tho, not if it is happening to all of us...it has to be the blog...I think that it drank some of that swamp water.!
Let me see if dragonfly will show up.
Afraid to try something else...the original code is going through..and that is what is allowing us to post...but it is lacking something more to keep up the avatars...if some of us delete our avatars, and let only a few post theirs..and this does not disrupt anything,, then that is what it is....Im going to erase mine altogether now.
We do have someone from Russian Federation lurking. Maybe the KGB is screwing with us.
I think it has the pig flu or swamp fever. It will be better tomorrow.
My soup is good. Full of health. Just in case I missed a vegetable, I added some spicy V8.
"I think that it drank some of that swamp water.!"
Carol, You need to put up a warning: Don't drink the water!!
Chloe,
Im not letting you take anything back tho.
I just tried a new pc burn out avatar..lets see if it posts?
Carol, That V8 is a great idea. There you go making me hungry again.
Solar, I just changed mine too, and it's there on my profile, but not here. But I know it's a site issue, and they'll eventually fix it.
Definitely by way of the swamp...I( Carol) would do a system restore to an earlier time..lets say two weeks ago...this should re-set what ever went wrong...?
I think it is just the site. Don't worry unless it never comes back.
Well, I guess I don't rock anymore...just roll a little now.
If you click on the empty square, your pic does come up on your profile
You do to still Rock Solar!
Chloe,
Love your new Pic, the Panther again. Try clicking on mine...this what i felt like most of this past week.
Coreen, I just saw that BEAUTIFUL picture of the daisies on your profile. Daisies are my favorite flower. I 'love' that picture!
Carol, Can you post your email address for Coreen, so she can send you her email and then you can invite her to contribute.
Coreen, I'll be glad to help you figure it out the first time.
Solar, I didn't realize we could click on the blank and see the pic. Your's of you pulling out your hair is so funny. Do you have any idea how often I've felt like doing just that on one of these computers.
Chloe, Solar, have ya'll ever gone to Beliefnet.com and taken their test on Belief-O-Matic?
Belief-O-Matic
It may come if with heathen but you can handle it.
Yes, now close you eyes Russia. thcl777ataoldotcom. Why do we do this?? That's and L after the c, not a one.
The Belief-O-Matic tells you which religion your beliefs are most consistant with. I think I came out most consistant with Buddhist.
I was only kiddin with that heathen remark. Are you laughing??
Coreen, you don't have to do a New Post to be on the contributor list, just accept the invite and the blog will put you on the list. You need to be there.
Carol,
Said that I was 100% heathen, and 15% Catholic...
1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
2. Mahayana Buddhism (98%)
3. New Age (92%)
4. Unitarian Universalism (90%)
5. Theravada Buddhism (80%)
6. New Thought (77%)
This was my top choices. Catholic was last
Mine is different than the first couple of times I did it years back. I used to come our Unitarian Universalism. I think the last time it was Buddhism. I guess I am evolving..or confused.

Really, did you take the test Solar?
I guess being New Pagan, I could be a witch.
I did Carol. The questions seemed subjective...but aren't they all. I forgot but said that i was 80% tao and such.but not high on any religion
I'm sure Solar took the test Carol.
Solar, I was going to ask you your take on the whole thing. As you know, I am not a believer. I also don't acknowledge 'labels' like heathen, or any of the others. Tao is an important one Solar. A good one. That's what Champ often talks about.
Would you like to be a witch Carol?
No, but I'm sure a few of my inmates have thought I was one. Usually when they can't manipulate me.
Ok, I would never contribute to the spiritual growth of a congregation... but I think a lot of what we discuss here at the Swamp has to do with spiritual growth. I think hummingbirds and daisies are spiritual. So may we 'are' contributing to the spirtual growth of the Church of the River.
Don't you hate it when someone tries to manipulate you? You're smarter than they are Carol, so that alone is enough to make them not like you.
Mainly because of the negative thing we associate with witches. The Wiccans are suppose to be different. I really don't know much about their philosophy.
The Church of the River is a very cool church.
"Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part"
... with a little rewording, that list could make a great creed to live by, imo.
I am partial to some of the Saints. Saint Anthony has helped me find many things that I had lost. And the two Marys. I have a thing for them also. I'm also partial to my sister Mary.

I'm happy that she even reads the blog. I'm not going to push it. She hates using a computer except to shop.
I was just being selfish Carol. I'd like to get to know her, but no, don't push.
Halloween is just fun! That's all. And the kids love it. Just like Christmas. It's fun (and exhausting).
Solar, You've been through a lot, I think. Most people aren't brave enough to come as far as you've come in overcoming beliefs that were instilled in them when they were very young. I really respect you for that. Hey Carol, You don't have any witches brews in those cookbooks of yours, do you? :)
The last time I did any trick or treating was years ago when I took my older sisters kids out to do it. She was living down here for a short time after her divorce. Had to be over 30 years ago.

Don't do brews. They would most likely backfire on me.
I guess that Im the only one that doesn't use a broom...right...haha
I do have a strong belief in karma. It keeps me in line.
dang, can't stay out of trouble..
Carol, I'm just curious, and have to ask why that bother you so much that it ruined your Halloween, and you remember it to this day. Was it because you felt so sorry for that woman, and knew you'd never let yourself get into a situation like that... That's because you 'like' being in trouble.
.. remember what you said, it's your pleasure.. being in trouble.
Chloe,

"it keeps growing with more and more things that are being discovered."
So we do create our own existence then, don't we. You've come a long way Solar. Ain't it great.
For some reason, their miserable life flashed though my head. I think that short moment in time was probably representative of their entire relationship. I don't know why it bothered me except that it did. Yes, I was glad that it wasn't me.

"There are probably many women who are trapped in relationships like that because they don't think they deserve anything better"
There's no doubt in my mind that's true. If people could just convince themselves that they deserve more, their whole life would change.
Solar, seems I read something like that when looking up info on the origin of the Christmas traditions. Might have been one of the cable news channels. They usually have programs about that before Christmas.
The Christmas ritual incorporates many pagan traditions.
Chlo,

I wish there was more done at our prison to help women with their self esteems. The only programs they have are religious ones. They aren't much help.
I hope we haven't offended anyone with our conversation tonight. I broke my rule again.
One thing I have to say before I leave tonight, is that I have the greatest respect for other peoples beliefs in their religions. I have no desire whatsoever to change their minds.

See you tomorrow.
Carol, You came up with a diabetes program, so I bet you could come up with one for self esteem, if you could convince someone that it would help in the inmates rehabilitation. (?)
I'm gone.
I didn't see that last post you made Solar. Well said, and I agree with you. It all makes sense, and we do need something to test our ideas against sometimes.
Chloe,
Im going to tell you this just one time, and it is not what you thinK.
.. oh, and Solar. People still look out for each other. Evolution hasn't taken that away. It's just a lot more crowded now.
How do you know?
U roll.!!
Goooood nite Mr. Rock and Roll.
Now-- say good night Gracie HA.! that should make that short piece of celery laugh also.
Nite guys.
nite,
Carol, sleep well.
G.night Ivy, sorry I didn't let you get a word in edge wise...
Don't have cable Ivy. How did Alabama do?
Nite John Boy and Mary Ellen.
Good night Carol.
Thanks for the Swamp and the River Church.
River Church never closes it's doors. May be talking to the UK or Russia, or some other far away place though.
Someone else's turn to do the service tomorrow.
Carol,
Tide rolled 'em.
Ivy, who'd they roll?
Almost had my last eye shut.
Sorry, Carol. South Carolina...
Testing, one two three
