Dew Drop Inn

If you happen to be surfing the Net and fall into the "Swamp", do drop in. We are a friendly group of people, who didn't know each other until we happened to run into each other on a different blog. Well, most of us, that is. There are no accidents, we believe, so if you happen to fall in here, stop and stay awhile. Share some of your ideas and beliefs. We would love to hear them.

I went out to my minnow bucket, shinner to some of you, and there was one minnow left in the bucket. He must have been there for at least a week because that was the last time I bought any minnows. I figured if he survived for that long, he must have mission and I was going to help him fulfil that mission. I put him on my hook and set him out.

A little while later I noticed my line was moving. Rats, I caught a gar. We call gar, a trash fish even though a lot of Cajun people like to grind them up and make them into gar balls. I let the little fellow go.

It has been my observation that when the gars are biting, nothing else is. I may try again later.

And Solar, you have to use all the meat on that fish, not just a certain part of their anatomy.

Here's one to greet the day -

O God, let fear die and conviction be born in our lives.
Let your light dawn in our minds as the day dawns on the earth.
Let us not be so busy hurrying into the future and worrying about the past that we lose today -- the only one we have.
God, help us do what we know we have to do today, and leave tomorrow to You.

I'm not sure if you are trying to tell me to do what is on my "to do" list today or not. You must clarify that.

I need to go look for one of those AC/heater window units for the lower level of the camp. I only have AC down there. I have the dual unit on the higher level but not on the lower level. It stays want up there.

I tried those space heaters but unless you sit on them, they are useless. Insulation is not an option since there are too many cheap windows and with the camp up in the air, there will be cold air circulating all around.

I'm not to hep on living in long johns all winter and I'm not ready to move back to the house.

Very nice post Carol. Hopefully some of our interesting lurkers will read it and join us.

""let fear die and conviction be born in our lives."

Ivy, It is good to read that quote this morning. I read TM before I came here, and politics and politicians are beginning to depress me even more. I actually felt fear, when I got a glimpse of what's going on with our governments relationship and dependency on big business, and realized that there is no change happening, in reality. They need a relationship, but it would be nice if government were the ones in charge, and if their goal was to protect the interests of the majority of those who put them in office.

Some of the players and words have been changed, but the same things are still going on. What's scary about it: we don't even 'know' what the game plan is. Well, except, we do know, a lot of people are going to make a lot of money, and a lot of other people are going to lose everything they've got.

I've been reminded why I decided not to think about politics here lately. I've never followed them much, and when I do, I always regret it. Except for the time Bill Clinton was elected. That made me very happy.

Carol, I've got a lot of bees hanging around my feeder. Maybe I should bring it in and clean it, huh? Hopefully, that will help (just hope I don't get a few stings doing it).

Hey guys,

Just want you to know, I'm here in spirit.

Started with a sore throat yesterday (not from
yelling for my NYY!--we still have a way to go)
& just basically feel exhausted.

Love the kitnic, Carol. Hope she starts to answer to Fiddler soon. I missed what you were
talking about outside scaring Maggie yesterday,
hope there is no threat around.

Enjoy the day everyone, I will circle back later, but having trouble keeping my head up.
(No cracks Solar!)

Coreen, It sounds like you have the same illness that Jan's dealing with right now. It started with a sore throat, and went downhill from there.

Carol was worried for Maggie, because she saw some large paw prints close by, and there had been some small animals attacked lately. So she's keeping Maggie close at her side, and being more cautious when going out after dark.

Hope you feel better soon, but guess it will take a few days anyway. Sleep, sleep and more sleep will help. And lots of water.

"No cracks Solar" Huh? what did I do....Im innocent over here...and thanks for saying that over at tm.

Chloe, I know how you feel, but today I felt the need to push the regulars around a little with a lot of comparisons about our two partys ....no big diff.

What make you think that Im trying to get rid of the pinks....Paranoia is not healthy, hahaha

Are all you pinks here getting you electric sweepers ready for the once in a year ride by the moonlight...sometimes you can see some crows going along....

Carol, not to worry I have long Johns on..got a little nippy over here...

Feeling better? I felt great last night Solar. The only thing that tired me out so much, is that I was laughing so hard.

The stuff I said about politics, is just me. I get a little frustrated with anything that feels so hopeless. I swear, caring about politics and politicians is just like standing there, hitting your head against a wall.

Hate to sound like a cynic, but thinking about it doesn't do one bit of good. I'd much rather focus on what I have some control over (I realize that's not a lot), and make my life as stress free and fun as it can be. I'll never completely accomplish that, but it's a lot better than thinking too much about powerlessness, about things we can't change.

I enjoy reading your posts over a TM Solar. Don't change, just keep up the good work there. I don't expect you or others to feel the same way I do. Me, I'm usually the odd man out, and I don't mind it either.

I 'really hate' imposing my thoughts on others. So ignore me whenever possible. :)

Ok, I'm going out into the world now, get myself some lunch (Emma's toothless, so she'll have to have baby food). Then I'm going to invade Walmart (which is my habit several times weekly, when I'm not at Target or Ross), and while I'm there Carol, I'm going to get another feeder so I can replace this one with warm nectar every morning. I like your idea of having a spare feeder to make it easy to change out. I just need to know if we really should leave them up 'all' winter. (?) So at some point, I hope one of you will tell me for sure.

Lowe's had several hummingbird feeders on display. One of them was designed to look like a hot air balloon. I want that one. I had it in my cart. Then I put it back on the shelf. It cost $16.99. It's beautiful, but that seemed pricey. I told myself I want it, but I don't need it. Maybe I'm hoping when I return to the store, it will be on mark-down. Of course, it could also be GONE. That's usually my luck. I still want it.

Hi all, just got back from urgent care - they didn't test me for strep the the PA there said "your throat looks good and it does not look like strep" I guess I have a cold - I don't have any body aches, although I woke up with a bad headache this am. Ibuprofen took care of it. Actually my throat feels better now.

Carol, should I trust what she said (above). Wish I could see you for this.

There were 3-4 little kids in the waiting room coughing like crazy. Hope they are all ok. We have had 1 death of an infant, one 5 year old and 2 teens in the past 2 weeks that they say was due to H1N1. I may stay home for the rest of the week - I have people covering for me with students. A rest sounds real good. I may start on one of the infant quilts I want to make.

Ivy, I love your quotes from Marian Edelman.

I am reading your posts about the govt and stuff. I sneaked over to TM yesterday to see what you all are talking about. I know it is important but it is scary and depressing. I think I will just stay right here with Carol's ponders.

Carol, you are a good writer. You might want to think about publishing something. I am not an expert but I read a lot. You know me, I don't say anything I don't mean.

jan said...

Carol, I was reading about the big paw prints around your place and that you were concerned for Maggie.

Lobie is too old now to do any protection but when she was a young dog, if another dog acted aggressive she could act fierce - bare her teeth and growl -it was downright scary. But she never acted aggressive unless another dog came at her. She could always scare them off without getting into a fight. She has always been great around people and especially young children. When she was about 3 she growled at my dad. He came to see me when I was living in Ark (he lived about 80 miles away in Tulsa). He was mad at me about something and when he came in the house - the door was open - Lobie got between him and me and growled at him and bared her teeth. The thing is she knew him well and had never done that before - or after that. All my dad said was, "I am not coming any further, you will have to come get Lobie." I think she sensed his anger toward me or that I was feeling threatened.

Carol said...

Hi Everyone. Coreen, maybe you caught that sore throat from Jan. Just be wary of that flu. Check you temp. If you start having a temp and aching all over you may want to get one of those antivirals. Usually reduces the course of the illness.

Yes Chloe, that politics is quite disgusting. This country is run by the money brokers. No different with the new Prez. We're just the puppets that they manager to manipulate so that we give them more of what's left of our money to play with. I dread even putting my paycheck in the bank.

And no Solar, monopoly is not my game. Don't have any money left to play with. Those guys on Wallstreet took it. Better make it poker. I like to play cards. Even got a new card table on sale a while back. Haven't even broken it in yet. Bring quarters because I'm past the age where I need to take off anything. You'd be better off if add clothing each time I lost a hand.

I like it over on the Trail but only when they are talking about anything but politics. It's a good thing they do. Some over there need to stay away from stressful subjects. It's killing them. I saw what is was doing to me but kept wallowing in it. Sometimes we just need to punish ourselves.

Carol said...

Jan, thanks but I am a horrible speller and even worse with grammar. I also have a tendency to ramble when I write but that is no secret to you guys.

I was so scared when I put Mag out last night. She didn't get to stay for long. She sensed it.

This morning I took another look at those paw prints. I looked up dog vs coyote on the Net and the prints do look more like dog. It's really hard to tell because they were in deeper mud. I will still be careful.

Maggie almost got eaten by one of my older sisters big dogs several years back. They came to visit and brought their camper and three big dogs. Two were German Shephard type dogs but only one was aggressive with other dogs.

My sister wanted me to let them in my house but I told her that Maggie would look like a squirrel to them. I agreed to walk Maggie out close to them to see their reaction. Well, just as I imagined, one broke off a heavy chain he was attached to and came after Maggie. I had her on a leash but he got her in his mouth anyway.

I went down to grab her and fell on both of them. My upper leg strength was really weak at that time due to the hyperthyroidism. I think I might have hurt Maggie more with my falling on her but she would have been dead if I hadn't.

Maggie was screaming. She was hurt. I also broke a rib in the fall. I got her to the Vet and then me to the little emergency clinic. We were both stove up for a while. I learned then to stick with my intuition. My sister never asked again to let the dogs in the house.

Carol said...

Chloe, I don't think cleaning your feeder will keep the bees away. I see bees, wasps and anoles drinking from my feeders. They all have to share.

The mystery is solved. I took Mag out for a walk and she found the scent of whatever left those tracks. She had her nose to the ground running around in a frenzy trailing that mystery animal's scent. Little blood hound, she is.

Just as we were fixing to go in, two big dogs came up. They are from my next door neighbor's yard. He has about 5-6 over there and they must have broken out. They look and sound scary but they must be harmless since other people bring their little dogs over there all the time.

Just in case there would be trouble, I picked Maggie up. They came up to smell me and Maggie went all snarlly on them. They backed off.

Carol said...

Jan, Lobie knew your dad was angry and you felt threatened. Good thing he stayed away. Our dogs are very sensitive to our feelings, maybe more sensitive that even we are.

I think your Lobie is so sweet looking but I bet she could get tough if she needed to.

I am a little afraid of big dogs ever since Ann W.'s dog cornered me on her porch one day. I was returning a typewriter. I thought the dog was going to eat me and Ann said he probably would have if I had moved.

Also just remembered when we went to Orange for you to borrow that ski outfit to bring skiing. It was one of our student's ski outfits. When we got to her house, we knocked on the door. A deep, Woof Woof, came from behind the door. We knew something big was behind that door.

When the student answered the door this little Chihuahua came running out. I thought, my, what a deep bark for such a little dog. Thought she needed to get that dog's vocal cords checked out. No.....then a big Great Dane strolled out. Yes... more like it. Remember that?

Ivy Green said...

Carol,
I do enjoy your ain't nothin' but a hound dog stories. Still be wary, though. You can't be careful enough.

A former colleague told a story of taking her little Pomeranian out to the lake for a walk. The dog was off-leash. As they were walking, my friend noticed a shadow on the ground, looked up and saw it was a magnificent bald eagle. She stopped to admire the bird above while the dog scampered along a few steps ahead. The eagle circled as the shadow on the ground grew larger when my friend had the realization her dog was in the eagle's sights...and it saw lunch!
She called out for the pup to come, first "calmly," then screaming in panic as she grabbed her dog with the eagle about to dive. Only seconds later, she might possibly have seen her darling dangling from the hunter's talons, taken like Toto in the clutches of a Flying Monkey.
Much as I might admire our national bird, and am happy for its redemption from the endangered species list, the story chills me to this day.

Ivy, I just know you're going to go back to Lowes to get that hummer feeder. But if you wait too long, it may be gone. If I wanted something that badly, I go get it, then give up something else I might spend the money on. ('Course, I'd probably end up getting both things eventually, but saying I won't makes me feel less guilty)

Jan, Glad to hear you're feeling a little better now. Did they test you for the flu? I think the doctors here do that automatically, swab the mouth and get immediate results. Of course, this is second hand - I rarely see a doctor. But I do get my flu shots religiously (not that kind of religion either, Solar) every year, for the last 6 or 7 years, after I got the flu so bad, I said never again.

Carol, In politics, I don't even see us as the puppets. I see the politicians as the puppet, and we just the people everyone either pushes around or ignores us (unless we owe taxes, then they remember who we are).

I'm glad you picked up Maggie around those big dogs, whether they're normally trustworthy or not. Once Maggie started to grow, or worse yet if she snapped at them, that's what sets them off. Something deep in their brain, that say's don't screw with me, and show them what they'll get if they ever do. I've seen that kind of behavior repeatedly from dogs. It's not dangerous with the small ones, but can be deadly when their larger. Knowing this doesn't keep me from loving them all, but I'm careful.

jan said...

Carol, I remember one of the times you are talking about and you leaped upon the hood of the car in one jump - with a typewriter in your arms too. I have never before or since seen anyone else do that.

jan said...

Chloe, they did not test me for the flu. I do not have any fever or body aches except headache, no vomiting or diarrha- I am really congested - I think she just decided its a cold. I think it is too.

There are flu shots available now - our school is having a free flu shot clinic next Mon - so I will get one then. My husb already got one at Walgreens - he didn't want to wait. We don't have H1N1 immunizations here yet.

jan said...

Carol, you could trust Maggie around Lobie. She has lots of little bitty doggie friends. She is really gentle with them too - she gets down with her chest on the ground and lets them jump on her, but she never jumps on them.

Carol said...

Ivy, I don't think I could be any more careful with Maggie. I might could crawl along side of her or over here when she is out walking. After about a minute of that and Maggie would have to carry me back into the house.

Last night I went out before I took her out and checked the property with a flashlight. I have one of those retractable leashes but I don't let it out.

Carol said...

Yeah, I made the mistake of not getting the regular flu shot one year and I was sorry. I had taken a day off, one little ole day, to go Christmas shopping, last minute. I was at Pennys and I started walking closer and closer to the floor. I was almost laying on it when I realized something was definitely wrong.

I also said never again. That's the worst feeling in the world. It's not like, I wonder if I have the flu.....It's I wonder if I will be alive five minutes from now and at times you think that dead might not be a bad option.

Carol said...

Jan, I didn't know if you remembered that jump with the, heavy, portable typewriter. I think I got a 10 for height and maybe a 9 on style. A point could have been taken off for a little too much bend in my knees and I definitely wasn't smiling when I did it.

Someone drove by and I bet they thought I looked a little strange standing on top of my Ford Mustang with a typewriter. I was just glad I still had all my extremities.

Carol said...

Jan, I didn't have problems. You should have gotten to know Lynn W. better. Maybe not. She was a walking disaster or at least disaster followed her everywhere she went. And usually she had a passel of kids with her when it did. I really don't know why anyone would let their kids hang around her.

She never went to the bank drive thru without taking out that little sliding money drawer they push out. When she went to the gas station, she often left with the nozzle still in her tank. She didn't get excited about it. It could have been that the gas station blew up and was on fire and she was whistling down the road with that hose flapping behind her. All in a day's work.

I made the mistake of taking her and her kids to the Guadeloupe River, camping. Yep, as you would expect, they ordered an evacuation of the campground because there was a flood and water was expected to go over the dam up river. They didn't have to ask me twice. We left and I worried that the little town we stayed in that night might also go under water. I prayed the entire trip. We all got back in one piece.

Carol said...

Chloe, be careful, you are starting to pick up that prison lingo....go out into "the world".

jan said...

Ivy, went back and read the end of the continuation. Thanks for the kind words.

jan said...

Carol, I went back to Pineville for 2 summers as a clinical instructor. Those times LW was the lead teacher. She could be kinda cruel to students. The students in those groups went out drinking on Monday nights just like our group, actually more often than just Mon nights. One night, one of the students got really drunk and I guess didn't know where she was - she got up in the middle of the night and "pooped" in a bucket that I think belonged to housekeeping. Well, LW was informed of this the next morning and she grilled all the students until she found out who did it and then she made a living hell out of that girl's experience. I never forgot that.

jan said...

I think we were all lucky she was not the teacher when we went to Pineville. Zola was an angel, now that I think about it. She was probably having her own parties at night.

Carol said...

Well, what did Chloe buy out in "the world" today?

Jan, how often do people poop in a bucket when they get drunk? Solar, did you ever do it? Glad I don't drink often or much. I probably couldn't get out of the bucket. There would be no doubt who the guilty dog was.

Had a lot of rain today Ivy?

How's the throat Coreen?

Anonymous said...

Carol, I bought everything except what I went there for today. I was goofing around there for about an hour, and Emma was very well behaved. But before I even got half way across the multi acre store, she decided she wanted to leave. I thought it would be in my best interest to do so, if you know what I mean. I hate it when people drag fussy babies through a store, then they cry and they continue to shop and let them cry for the whole time they're shopping. I'd never do that.

So now, I'm going to our Lowes tomorrow to take a look at that feeder Ivy saw today, if they even have it. That baloon replica sure would look nice outside my window.

Jan, I'd pay money to see a picture of Carol jumping on that car hood with a typewriter in her hand. I assume you didn't get one though. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better, but it's probably a very good idea to take the week off.

jan said...

So glad someone else is here - I been lonesome - and getting stir crazy from being in so much.

People do some pretty crazy things when they are drunk. When I was in Austin I worked part time at a psych and addiction facility. I sat with a lot of alcoholics who were going through withdrawal. They had some stories to tell. A far cry from taking care of women in labor - or maybe not. I remember one experience in Labor and delivery in Lake Charles. A woman was in preterm labor and the doc had read about using alcohol drips (IV) to stop preterm labor - this was before we knew as much about fetal alcohol syndrome. I was the nurse that stayed with her. It was scary - her getting drunk was not a problem -but her lungs started filling up with fluid. I remember that doc - he was one who didn't like coming in to work on saturdays - and one sat started throwing instruments around the Labor and del room because he was p....d off at having to come in. He was young and had a God complex.

jan said...

Hi Chloe, I always feel bad for moms or dads whose kids are crying in a public place. You are thoughtful to take her and go back another time. I bet the balloon feeder would look great outside your window.

No, unfortunately I didn't get a pic of Carol jumping on top of her car. Besides, she was always the photographer. I do have some great photos of our summer when we were in the psychiatric setting. I can probably get John to scan them and send to you or Carol to post. I better get Carol's permission first.

So I wonder where Carol is. House is on right now - one of my fav's. I am recording it so can zap the commercials when I watch it. I just saw a procedure on the news that House did on his show last week. One of the characters in the show had lost an arm in the war and was having chronic phantom limb pain. House constructed a box with a mirror so that when the guy put his intact hand and arm in the box - the way the mirror was placed, it looked as though he had both arms. It cured his pain - well that seemed a bit far-fetched to me, but they showed the same procedure on the news tonight - had something to do with the brain. Didn't catch the whole thing - but very interesting.

Anonymous said...

That would be great fun, if she doesn't mind you posting those pictures Jan.

Jan, I always feel sorry for the kid who is crying, because I figure they're tired or hungry or something. Whatever it is, they've reached their limit. So I always leave if she's fussy for two reasons: to do what's best for her, and to not to disturb other shoppers (or patrons of restaurants or anywhere else). I knew I was working within a short time frame, and took too much time. You know at that age, there's not much time between naps.

jan said...

Ok, now off to watch House, there is enough recorded now that I won't have to watch coms.

I don't watch any medical shows. I don't find it to be entertaining to watch something I've had to do for so much of my life. I also don't like it when they do things that aren't realistic.

I even have a hard time just watching regular movies when the behavior of the characters in the movie is not consistant with what real people would do in a similar situation. Friends say, well it's just a movie but that doesn't matter to me. It should be realistic. It's OK if it is a science fiction movie and it's suppose to be weird.

Jan, I was kind of crazy back then, especially when we were in Pineville. I would have to see what pics you are talking about. I was pretty goofy.

My daughter's cat may be sick. I phoned her yesterday to see what she wanted to do about it. As expected, the college student is too busy for a trip to the vet, so guess who will be doing that today? Treating a sick cat is my least favorite part of cat ownership. It's then I suspect I might not really be "a cat person" at heart.

But as with all good things, there is a price to pay. So...Hi ho, hi ho, it's off the work I go.....

Hi, Ivy, just getting ready to turn off computer and leave. Sorry about the kitnic. It's not fun taking anything, anyone to the Dr. I hope said kitnic is OK.

You have a great day too. Let us know how it goes. I might be a good yarn. Or you can bring a yarn ball with you to entertain the said kitnic.

Ivy, let us know how your trip to the vet with your daughter's cat goes.

Carol, I dreamed about you last night. I apologized to you in the dream for my comments about LW - it is interesting because I wanted to write you - I am doing that now and apologize because I read back over older posts and realized that you are friends with her so I feel bad about having said unkind things about her - I hope you will forgive me - I should have realized that you and she became friends. I guess I had missed that post where you said you had dinner at her house with her and her kids. I am sure I can chalk my experiences with her to our very different ways of looking at the world. Any friend of yours, I am sure is a good person.

I woke up without a sore thoat this morning - 1st time since Friday. Ah, life is good again. I am going back to work tomorrow. My group of 8 students and I are doing a health fair for Alb public school employees. They have arranged it - we will have a table and do blood pressures and other assessments. Its a good opportunity for students to do some health teaching. I am mainly there in case someone has a higher BP to be back up if student have questions.

Ivy, love your poems - a good way to start and to end the day.

Carol, I find that when I "journal" it is at a difficult time in my life. I havn't written a book but I have done a lot of journaling. When I was in LR, I went through 2 years of intense counseling and about 2 more of some group work. The counselor was a Jungian analyst and much of the work was around my dreams. She saved my life. When I first started going to see her my work life and personal life were in a shambles. I felt like a failure at everything. I wasn't able to keep anything together. The first 6 months that I started the counseling with her I cried through every sesssion. I had to schedule my sessions after work because I couldn't go back to work afterwards. My face would be red swollen for hours. I was able to put a lot of my past into some perspective after that and not blame myself or anyone else for what had happened. I found that I had buried a lot of stuff and it all came out in my dreams. I had no idea that our dreams held so much information. Since then, when I have dreams I am able to work with them as to what their meaning is to my life at that time.

Hi Jan, I think our dreams present of with important and useful information too. It seems to be the things that really are bothering us, things buried in our subconscious that we're getting ready to deal with, as well as the things that are so deeply buried that we can't tolerate bringing them to our concious mind yet. I agree, there's a wealth of information in those dreams, just waiting to be analyzed and incorporate into our conscious mind, and doing that can change our life.

Glad to hear your sore throat is gone Jan. But sorry to hear you had such a bad time going through your therapy (although I realize it was long ago). It's very good to know that you came out of it a happier person.

"You guys have brought me culture and poetry and understanding and wisdom and friendship....many of the things that were missing in my life."

Carol, It's hard to believe those things were missing in your life, because you have also bring them all to us. And you gave us this blog to say anything that eners our mind. We're lucky to have you as a friend.

Ivy, I think that poem you posted this morning means that we're never really alone, and that there is something interesting to find where we're least likely to look. The way she described the 'precise, dainty feet and long sensitive feelers', also sounds like she finds beauty and meaning in everything.

Actually, I'm sure we'll all interpret it in different ways.

Ivy,

Nice poem,,,and I interpret it as does Chloe......it is that synergy thing that I always talk about...we can feel someone at the other side of the world...

cos not too much is separating us from them....not if you think about sorta...like there is only a little bit of air..space that separates you from the nearest person, and the little bit of space that he is exasperated from the next, when we arrive at the other side of the world...

we all are breathing the same air..we are all connected in some way...even if you don't know it...that is why im against war so much...just killing little bits of ourselves....sorry, maybe too early for this...be in and out...

Solar, That is beautiful, what you just said. I'm hear quickly putting together a new post regarding something I just read, and came back and saw your posts. What I just quoted you saying will go nicely at the end of the post, and if you don't mind, I'm going to quote it on the post.

I'm glad to hear that you got the email you've been waiting for, but I wish you were waiting for email more often, if it would keep you on line talking to us.

Carol, you and Ivy & Chloe and Solar have brought all these things to me also. Carol, you said that so well. You are the one that got it all going. All of you have enriched my life so much.

Chloe, thank you for your kindness. It was difficult going through the therapy, but it sure changed my life in the way that medications could not have done. Therapy also gave me the tools to help myself too. Since therapy I look at my dreams in an entirely different way.

Solar, I love what you have said in this last post. I never think of this -that we are all connected - by air we breathe. Something to ponder about.

Hi Jan, You have brought all those things to us also. Everyone here is equally important, and that's the way Carol has designed the site, imo. She deserves a lot of credit.

I'm a firm believer in 'What goes around, comes around'.

Solar, watching the DWTS show last night and the Lambada -reminds me of when I was a pre-teen - my dad would turn off the tv when Elvis was on - and the Ed Sullivan show would only show Elvis from the chest up because of his pelvic movements - such a difference between then and now. When I went to teen dances we had to keep at least 2-3 inches between the boy's body and mine while dancing slow dances- If we didn't the chaperone would come over and separate us.
