I was just remembering back when it was getting closer to mom's last time here on this earth. My older sister was in visiting. She brought this little book she found at a bookstore by Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross, the expert on death and dying. It was her description of heaven. I don't know how she knew what it would be like but she described it so wonderfully.
We thought it might be nice to give mom something to look forward to. My older sister was reading the book out loud to me, loud enough for mom to hear. That was the plan.
Mom wasn't talking at all at that time. She would say only a few things. She did have the remote control of the TV which she was never watched anymore. Shortly after my sister started reading from the book out loud, my mom turned up the TV volume. My sister and I looked at each other and smiled. Mom wasn't ready to think about heaven yet.
"they are brain mappings from ancestral memories, and handed down thru dna and word of mouth story telling, once again as far as I know, and have read...the Aborigine told of these ancestors..."
Solar, I was amazed to read your post! I have said that to a few people, and they always look at me like, huh? It makes total sense to me, and to find out it's been said by someone else... well, by you, is so reassuring to hear!
definitely lost some post, and have tried here for a while...I think that we overwhelmed the system,,right now it is reading, "your comment was published"
Chloe, that was only part of that post, but that one gets the Idea across..thanks
You know Carol, maybe we should have called it the Cuckoo's Nest, instead of the Swamp. You know, like: I'll meet you over at the Cuckoo's nest, and you'd know just what I meant. :)
"I think past life memories are actually ancestral memories."
I just had a post that was eaten? some-one ate my post?
The Aborigine talk of these things...as passed on from one generation to the next...but if I remember a little bit about it-its also part of the brain mappings, that we have, and part of who we are..I don't believe in ghosts..but i do in re-incarnation.. October 4, 2009 7:23:00 PM PDT
I will re-read that book, about the brain, and all. Joy, sorrow and the feeling brain...everything in life is...Joy..or Sorrow, and the brain helps us control it for our own good..that why you say that we make our selves the better when we go thru some sort of harrowing experience and survive it...the brain is-has adjusted in its way of protecting you...wish that I understood all of it..Im going to read it until i do..or m ost of it....you might remember that we talked a little bit about it..of emotions, and feelings...
Thanks Solar. I think you really do understand it. If you're like me, you can understand something, and at the same time have trouble putting it into your own words.
The way you described what you said in that post was perfect, and I am most grateful that you understood what I meant.
"Very accurate Chlo, they are brain mappings from ancestral memories, and handed down thru dna and word of mouth story telling, once again as far as I know, and have read...the Aborigine told of these ancestors..."
There is plenty more grist here for tomorrow's mill. I'm heading to the book barn for now, worn out and shivering from another wrestling match with wet dogs, eye ointments, radio collars, and the rest. I know when I read back here in the morning I will be able to pick up where y'all left off.
You know with all the complexity involved in life. So much we don't understand. Much some do understand but not me unfortunately. It just can't be puff it is over. I believe there is so much more after we leave these old worn bodies behind.
I want to sound a little co-coherent about it..so another time. ok..I will think about it..it was a Walter Cronkite show that I taped a long time ago...and it had a very profound effect on me, and was a part of the jigsaw puzzle that i know that ties it all together for me..about the sciences and religion,,the truths and as you have said my quest to understand, and I think that you said Carol, that Im a man on a mission...that was when you heard about my father, and religion....let me think about it and put it all together...
No Chloe, It was a much longer one, that I said that-that is why you (I have never said anything when you say this --but) sometimes say that what we go thru, sometimes the suffering , the hardships, makes us a better person..it is part of the brain protecting the self-the organism, us..thru the process of emotions and feelings..
Solar, I don't know if I ever said it makes us a better person. What I normally say (and think) is that it makes us a 'different' person.
I'm sure you are correct, about the brain protecting us, but that's not really what I was getting at.
The reason we are 'different' after hardships (or any other experience) to me is, imo, because we are the sum of our total experiences. The way I see things may seem simplistic to others, but I honestly think it really is simple. I can see how our psychology works so clearly, and because of that, everything makes total sense.
Oh, and to not discount predispositions that we're born with, I do think that that sum total also takes in the experiences of our ancestors (like we were talking about earlier) too. So ancestors provided us with our predisposition, so to speak. Those past life memory maps.
Ok, now it is working Carol, I saw the orbs in your picture. I love the picture of you and your mother together. That is how I remember you both. I showed the pics to my husband and he says you are and were a real beauty.
Ivy, thanks to your hubs for the suggestions to spice up the chicken dish.
Chloe, I definitely want to see the movie with Matt Damon.
"Jan or Chloe, would either of you know "what to look for" in interpreting dreams? I'm still trying to figure one out from last week. Mostly what comes out for me is whatever is hidden in my "guilty sub-conscience" Ivy, I may have missed a later posting, but I have had a little experience in helping someone make sense of their dreams. If you want to tell a little about it, I "will be listening."
I should not have gone in to watch my recording of "Medium" I again missed the good chatter. Oh well, there will be other times. I am off to start the book by Jean Shinoda Bolen that - I think Chloe recommended or maybe Ivy or was it Carol - If there is no one to read my "nite all" will I really have left???
"If there is no one to read my "nite all" will I really have left???"
Hi Jan, That's what so nice about this place Jan. Even when you leave, you leave behind a little bit of yourself we can all read and think about. So I guess you 'really' haven't left.
"I do think that that sum total also takes in the experiences of our ancestors (like we were talking about earlier) too. So ancestors provided us with our predisposition, so to speak. Those past life memory maps." Chloe, Are you familiar with Carl Jung's theory of the "collective unconscious" Do you think there is a similarity between what you are talking about above and Jung's theory?
I love the book by Shinoda Bolen - I feel much identity with what she writes. She experienced a painful divorce just before writing this book and as I was reading this it felt like she was telling my story about my divorce. I have barely begun the book, and am hooked. Whoever mentioned it many posts ago, thank you.
Hi Jan, It was me, though Chloe may know the book too. I have read and re-read it. Best "bargain table" book I ever found. I have since purchased many of her other works. I couldn't help but "channel" Bolen while at "the Stones" in Banchory.
The stones are in a place called Mulloch Wood. Sadly, it looked like someone was beginning to chop down the woods.
I would love to return to see the more famous stones at Stonehenge.
Jan, What I was talking about is not nearly as complicated as anything Jung would say. It wasn't anything I've read, but of course, it must be a accumulation of everything I've ever read and/or thought about.
I was talking about something very simplistic, regarding how I think we get to be who we are as individuals with our own personality and value system. I don't believe in past lives, or really any of the metaphysical beliefs that some people have, so when someone mentioned something about past lives, I said that I think that any memory or feeling of a past life is actually an ancestral memory, passed onto us in our DNA. Solar saw that, and commented on it, so those things I wrote were in response to what he said.
If any psychologist has had an influence on me, it would probably be Skinner, because of the way he simplified cause and effect. Also Darwin's Theory of Evolution, because I see most everything as some form of evolution.
And so, in that paragraph that you quoted, where I said we are the sum total of our experiences, and part of that equation takes in our predisposition, I was just trying to say where I thought our predisposition comes from. I mean, lets face it, we're born with it - that's the meaning of the word.
Ohhh, At least one or two of my hummers are still here. I thought they were gone over the weekend, but it may be that I was just not in my office much, looking out that particular window. I'm hepped.
Good evening folkes. Chloe, my hummers are still around. They take breaks when you don't see any and then there's a feeding frenzy. I'm sure you still have some if you look at the right time.
I was pooped today and came home and took a nap. When I got up, I went and got out my Orb book, The Orb Project. I bought it a while back but besides looking at some of the photographs, I didn't read any of it. Was waiting until I had some time with nothing to do. Hah, that will never happen. I will try to get into it now.
I'm not sure I understand what orbs are but I know they are significant and represent some spiritual phenomena. I am pretty sure that orb that came to the restaurant with us did represent mom is some sort of way. She was going through some kind of transition at that time. Mentally she wasn't totally here on this earth but she hadn't left either.
Mom certainly was not someone who was interested in any phenomena. Wasn't a particularly spiritual person even though she did attend church regularly. Even so, mom did love her three girls and Joe's Crab Shack and she wasn't going to be left behind when we went.
Another thing I believe is that certain phenomena is more likely to manifest itself to those who are open to receiving it. Just like you have noticed more synchronicity when you started looking for it.
In my book, this orb phenomena was studied independently by two guys who didn't even know each other. One was a professor of systematic theology at a college in Ireland and the other has a PhD in physics. He worked for many years in materials research at NASA, UCLA and as a research prof. at Stanford.
Jan, how's you hubby doing with getting the pics in the computer? We're looking forward to seeing the balloons. You can send the pics and stuff to me or to Chloe.
And Jan if you are looking for someone who mentioned a book, it has to be Ivy, Chloe or Solar. I'm still in my, can't read anything fun until I catch up on my homework reading. I will cheat a little with my orb book reading.
Jan said it may take her husb. a while to get those pictures downloaded. He has a new apple computer, and is still learning the differences from the windows he previously had.
Jan, Carol right. I'll be glad to post it for you if she is busy. Anything you ever need, just ask. You have my email.
Carol, I'm gone through a lot of times in the past, where I was more open to signs, like those orbs are to you. And when I was open to them (signs), they would turn up frequently. And they brought me comfort too.
I think you're right about your mother. No one knew her better than you and your sisters. Whether she got there on her own, or if she went along with you three, I'm sure she was there.
Mondays are draining for me, so I may not be prolific this evening. Carol, I wanted to say the answer to your question of last night, about who from the past would have gone on my trip with me, may have been revealed. It was not the answer I was expecting, so I'm going to let my brain "sleep on it" another night before attempting to respond. How did you come with that question, anyway? It's very intriguing.
Chloe, I think I may have a group of guardian angels helping me out.
I have been out fighting mosquitoes trying to figure out how to do a time lapse with my digital camera to get a good shot of the moon. It's getting better but not there yet. I did figure a few things out with the camera.
I have two tripods at the house and can't find either one. I hate to go buy another one but I need one because even balancing the camera on something, I still shake. You can't shake with a slow shutter speed.
I hope you guys don't think I'm too kooky with this orb stuff but I really think and feel there is something to it and it is something good not evil. I wouldn't never mess with anything evil.
The entire way my orb experiences were introduced to me was very interesting. And it came at a time when I was really examining things in life and recording what I was experiencing.
That was a fantastic photo. It almost looked like a painting. Did they realize there was a huge owl in the photo. They seemed to talking about the trees.

I wouldn't have been able to get to sleep if I hadn't come back to make the spotted owl photo my desktop image. It's a stunning photo. I don't imagine that's an easy bird to see, let alone get the photos, and one as amazing as this.
Sorry for the interruption to our regular programming...now I'm going again...
I just sent 7 photos of the balloons to you Carol. Its been a crazy day. Had a flat tire to begin with. So glad we have Triple A. Still had a busy day at work. My husb got pics all on his computer - then had to go through all of them. They are pretty amateurish - photography is definitely not my talent - but some came out ok.
I am looking back to see who posted the Owl - can't find who did it - The owl is magnificent. It does look like a painting. I think Owls are beautiful and such mysterious creatures.
Well I am off to bed to read Shinoda Bolen again. I like her a lot. We ordered another 2 of her books from Amazon.

Found 'ja. You can run, but you can't hide.
You're right though, Jan vamoosed, and Randall's not touching us with a ten-foot pole. Whoooo can blame them?

This wouldn't scare either Jan or Randal. Randal would get into it.
Won't scare Solar either. He may be lost though. It might make some interesting reading for our lurkers.
Solar, From the last thread:

May need to change the name of our blog to Someone flew over the Cuckoo's nest.
Carol, Solar was lost. That's why I just brought that post from the other thread over here. He thinks his comments and the rest have been lost.
I don't think we flew over the Cuckoo's nest, I think we're in it.
LOL Chloe
Well there are a few birds flying over us.
testing, I lost quit a few of you're comments , and a few of my posts...
So Solar still is in cyberspace?
There there Solar but we went over 200 so it turns over to another page.
It was sort of like a snowball rolling down a mountain.
Ok, here we go again.
Earth calling Solar, Can you hear us??
Testing, testing.

Paul, I only copied part of the post. The rest is back with the others, on page 2. At the bottom of page 1, there's a link to go to the newer posts.
I was so surprised and delighted to read what you said.

Tony is probably still trying to figure out how we got to where we are and I'm pretty sure he won't figure it out.
I don't know Carol. Tony's a smart guy.
I'm listening Solar, go on....
Chloe,
I will re-read that book, about the brain, and all. Thanks Chlo,
There was one before that one, dang now im going to find it..or remember it..but will leave things as they are for now..and not hog the blog...
You're not hogging the blog Solar. We're interested.
Thanks Solar.
I think you really do understand it. If you're like me, you can understand something, and at the same time have trouble putting it into your own words.
The way you described what you said in that post was perfect, and I am most grateful that you understood what I meant.
You are never hogging anything. Keep talking. I told you we love your posts.

Not all who wander are lost...

Night Ivy. See you tomorrow.
I need to head out too.
You know with all the complexity involved in life. So much we don't understand. Much some do understand but not me unfortunately. It just can't be puff it is over. I believe there is so much more after we leave these old worn bodies behind.

I left a note at the bottom of the last thread for any who might wander there...
'nitey nite.
Me three. It's already past my bed time.
Nite all. Keep pondering!
Carol,
I haven't forgotten your question. I will "dream on it."

Having problems getting acceptance of my posts. I don't know what the problem is.
Ok, now it is working
Carol, I saw the orbs in your picture. I love the picture of you and your mother together. That is how I remember you both. I showed the pics to my husband and he says you are and were a real beauty.

We each assume that duty at one time or another.

I agree with you Carol. In much the same way that we don't change unless we're open and ready.
There are a lot of law's of nature that are there and in effect, whether we're aware of them or not.
I even used to have my own personal Guardian Angel Carol, and he (yes, he) never let me down. I actually miss him.
Mondays are draining for me, so I may not be prolific this evening. Ivy, I think it is possible someone who may have already passed may have wanted to share that experience with you and/or your hubs. Just a ponder.
The entire way my orb experiences were introduced to me was very interesting. And it came at a time when I was really examining things in life and recording what I was experiencing.
I really think that when you are open, experiences will enter. Just don't open yourself to negative experiences.
In that way, we can really create our reality and not just as an illusion or delusion or hallucination.
Solar is working on this also. He just hasn't found the exactly way to share it yet. He is on to something though.
This photo made me catch my breath...
Northern Spotted Owl
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2009/10/redwoods/bourne-text
That was a fantastic photo. It almost looked like a painting. Did they realize there was a huge owl in the photo. They seemed to talking about the trees.
Did that owl have on fuzzy booties?
If you look through the other pics on that site you will see a bear and a banana slug. Some of our favorite critters.
Carol,
There could have been a clearer label on this online photo. The same photo is in the magazine's print copy. It's labelled, "A tagged northern spotted owl swoops toward a researcher's lure in a young redwood forest." I didn't think it could be a real photo either, it looks so surreal. I thought you'd like it. Now I see why the environmentalists worked so hard to save that bird.
"...our favorite critters."
Carol,
Thanks, I need to look again to spot the other critters...
Beautiful bear photo...!
I think we're on to one of the "secrets of the universe" with our slug stories...
Yep Ivy, we're on top of it.
Cuz we're open to it.
Gonna put a lid on it for the night...guess we wore out "Crazy" last night...
Nite all. Going to bed with my orb book. That should keep me awake about 10 minutes.
