Time Travel- part two

Time travel will be possible in the future: Once that we can stop them from collapsing almost as soon as they materialize. They are trying to do this by studying the effect of shooting light through it..it slows the process down, and the light appears on the other side.

This will involve looking further into dark matter; the problem with investigating dark matter is that it is reversing the life time of the Universe; as far as I know. Some think that the Universe will never end. This changes; because when you look into dark matter; and studying it; it alters it's positive energy, into negative energy when tampered with; and doing so..we could end the Universe. There are still studies being done all of this. Will explain this picture and book down the road:

Chloe,

“I think if we did ever get to the point of manipulating time, then we'd also be able to manipulate the aging process. Now 'that' would really interest me.”

We are already manipulating time; and the aging process by the way that we are change the foods that we eat, that have chemicals in them..and the water that we drink. We will grow food in laboratories. Right now there are scientist that are working on meat that is produced by combining chemicals; and won't come from animals.

Young baby Emma's generation, or the next, probably will on average live to be around 120 years old; by manipulating their genes, dna etc. Future humans will live to be 200 years old. ( how they lived to be 700 in the Bible?) In this sense the reality of time does not exist (aging time.that we made) when we pass; time goes on ..the time that we invented; that is.

That is why I once argued with Brian, and a cpl of others that time was not real; we just invented it for our purposes. Once in Brittan; t he government re-arranged their calender for business purposes; and took away 12 ( I think) day's in the existing year. The people were not very happy about this. They insisted that the government took 12 day from their lives and want them back..
You also said something like “ Solar knowing you, you probably figured out a way to time
travel” I have...wanna hear?...

You better believe I wanna hear Solar!
And I love the Cows, Pigs, Wars and Witches poster. It is so cool. But I can't read the small print on it, darn it.

Another great post Solar!

Carol said...

Solar I believe this is all possible but not here on this earth. It may even, to a certain extent, be possible just prior to death, during the dying process. That was the orb at Joe's Crab Shack. Mom figured it out in her last days here, when she joined us at the restaurant. Another reason not to keep us here when our spirits are ready to move on.

Anonymous said...

Solar, When I mentioned manipulating the aging process, I was actually hoping (fantasizing?) that they could reverse aging and make us younger again. I do realize that we live longer than people used to live, because of diet, water, medicine, hygiene, etc., and find it interesting that you can 'predict' how long future generations will live. You're a wealth of information Solar.

Carol said...

And if Don is still here and doesn't know what I'm talking about, you will have to go look at orb pic at Joe's Crab Shack.

Solar said...

Carol, could be. I lost some wording at the top...it should that once we stop the worm holes from collapsing....

Anonymous said...

I like your space picture (google id) Solar. What attracts you to space so much? I ask that, because it doesn't attract me. It's so sterile and lifeless (my perception) out there. So far removed from everything meaningful to me.

Carol, Are you sure 'you' didn't 'take' your mom there with you? Are you positive you weren't involved, that you don't underestimate your abilities?

Solar said...

Carol,

I think that Don could help us with the orbs very much...it's just that I think that it was pure energy, and the mind working at the same time..sometimes we see what we want to see..I do not doubt that you felt the energy..cos it happened to me, on the day that Bill Sailer died...he was as good a friend as anyone could have..he died in my arms and I felt his energy pass...

Solar said...

Chloe, the small print on that book cover reads:

One of Americas leading Anthropologist offers solutions to the perplexing question of why people behave the way they do...this is right up your alley...

It gives a lot of info..a little of it in the next cple of post's...wanna hear it?

Carol said...

I kind of believe and certainly hope that life on the other side is a lot more interesting than it is on this side.

Carol said...

I didn't imagine that orb and it wasn't a flaw in the pic. I didn't imagine all the orbs at the house after mom died either. They weren't there before and weren't there a week later.

I have found a way to time travel. It is in the mind; even if we could physically time travel now; it would be our mind that experiences it. Science once again provides they way, in these forms:

Starting with Coreen's wanting to “ see the life of Christ unfold”. This is the closest that I have come to read, and find it's sources credible. We time travel with the sciences of Anthropology; Archeology; as well as all of the other ology's ( little lazy here) In the Book pictures above:

Anthropologist Marvin Harris wrote a book called “ Cows, Pigs, Wars, and Witches. The Riddles of Culture”

In this book the riddle of the Messiahs, and the secrete of the Prince Of Peace took me back in time thru Historians that lived and wrote about it at that time. Dates, names, church, religions, and the politics of that time..it follows Jesus's life quite well. I never would have had this type of information,,thru the normal books...this is the information that i gave about the witches came from..nice chapter on the truth of why in India they don't eat cow...and it's not what you think..I will guarantee that.!

I have another way also..and then one last comment...

Carol said...

There were also about 6 different people with differen't cameras photographing them.

Solar said...

Carol,

I want all of that to be true..just that I don't know enough about it..to say that they were, or not..it is too important to just say yes..and definitely can't explain the orbs before and after...I will send you Dons E-mail..maybe he can help us a little ..you can send him the pics..

Carol said...

And if could create my reality right now I'd create someone to clean the house and someone else to give me a full body massage.

Carol said...

I'm concentrating real hard!

Solar said...

Yes you are hold on....im coming..hey thats a song..hold on. remember? ok

Chloe...still around?

Yeah, I wanna hear it Solar.
I wonder if I can download that book onto my laptop?

"I kind of believe and certainly hope that life on the other side is a lot more interesting than it is on this side."

That may be true, but all we have for sure is what we have now. Are you saying that you don't think life is interesting? All those wondrous things that you've been sharing with us aren't enough, that you hope there's more?

Remember in Jack Nicholson's movie, where he asked that question. Is this as good as it gets? Well, I think it's enough, and then some. And any of those times in my past, when I didn't feel that way, then I know I was depressed. Because, when I'm feeling good, I'm overwhelmed by how great things are. There are times when I just take a quick breath at the wonder of all the beauty around me. Obviously, those moments can be fleeting, but the more they happen, the more I change.

Anonymous said...

I'm here Solar. I was just busy tappin' away on that comment.

"I'd create someone to clean the house and someone else to give me a full body massage."

Lot's of guys out there Carol, that would be glad to do those things for you. You'd be surprised.

Carol said...

I'm not saying that I'm not happy with this life because I am. Death, as we understand it, is not the end, it is the beginning of a new adventure. I think we have more wonderful things to come. This isn't all there is.

Carol said...

Around here I'd have to clean the house and give the massage.

Chloe,

your last post, add to it the love of nature...the Universe, ever thing..that is synergy...

BLOOD WINDOW TO THE PAST:

This one answers Coreen's other question she had at one time ( Halloween) she wondered how its is that almost all cultures tell the similar stories about a women ghost (is there any other..ok ok) that is dressed in white, and is seen around cemeteries. I think that it was the Human migration of all parts of the earth.!

Another exiting way that I traveled in time; is with Professors; Luca Cavalli Sforza, and Spencer Wells. Luca C. Sforza started the research of dna in modern humans that in part led to the undeniable conclusion that there are no Races-we are all the one Race..

Prof. Spencer Wells a young Geneticist; left his young family, his wife and his very young daughter to go backwards into time. (left them for ten years) I have a PBS tape from years ago. “Journey of Man thru dna” it will change minds about who we are. You can be even more closely related to some stranger on the other side of the world....than you would be to your own Grandma Chloe...

By taking hundreds of thousand of blood sample for ten years he traveled all the way back to the oldest people living on Earth..the Bush Men..they have the oldest blood...He then goes Physically to where it all started....In Africa..and takes the Human Journey out of Africa....

First stop was Australia ( this is where almost all handed down stories to the American Indian comes from. And all other peoples—then they made some of their own...culture wise), then onto Asia,.and then spread out..he goes on to Europe, and then to Russia, and Mongolian..where he travel the nomad life with them in the cold..herding rain deer...elk?? along the way, he show the physical change that comes from time..temperature, and food...he show pictures of people that look exactly like an American Indian...twins....he shows how the Aborigine were the first to set foot in America..but stopped due to not being able to cross all the way due to ice.

During this time...the Mongolians catch up with the Aborigine, and win the first tribal battles of the North..The surviving Aborigine scatter to the south; giving us the people of South America...at the time that I first saw this information..there were two Sister-the last surviving people that had the aborigine blood in them..I forgot..Guatemala or something like that.. I was a great tip into the past through dna...changed a lot of the way that I thought of things.

Now my list of whom I would want to spend time with; and then will shut up for a year..sorry this was so long....

My list of people that I would want to visit in the past if it was possible.

My great, great, Grand parents...three brothers left a town Called Navarret and came to the new world..one Farmer, One Military, and one Business man...from what I know know..our family history could fill a book, with all of the trimmings...sex, drugs, and rock-n- roll..they brought me and my bothers, and sister to escape ....from the blood shed that very big money and religion was the cause of many deaths...lots of unanswered question to find out...I wasn't going to put this one down..but you all know my past anyway....

Another one would be; Baruch Spinoza, the philosopher , and mind biology that is true to this day, he lived during A. Einsteins time..and turned him down to work with him. He was his equal, but the Church made it impossible for him. Next up is President Polk..slap him around a little and put a rifle in his hands in one of the battles....when he invaded Mexico..including Texas; after they refused to sell to him...he stole 44% of that country....

Next up..would be my first choice...but I don't thing that Leonardo Da Vinci would give me the time of day.... I would have loved to spend some time with George Washington Carver..

The one that I chose to go on a trip..is Darwin..I would have been a hide away on the Beagle the Ship that he went to the Galapagos..I would have shared his findings, ...they are as true today,,as they were then, lots, of time to spend talking to him....Now it's time to stop dreaming and get back to the reality.......sorry for these long assed post's ..see you next time...HA.,!

Anonymous said...

"And stop just long enough to go get him a beer."

I just wish you'd never seen that overweight, lazy, beer guzzling guy on that Halloween night. I think that image has stayed with you, and you may not realize how many really great men there are in this world.

Chlo,

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, as usual...you just might share more of the DNA that you have with someone else..you could share the same dna with your Grandma Chloe (that was a joke) maybe 94.5% and share the same with a total stranger..95% the thing is that we all are almost the same..very little difference..that is another story about the True Eve...

Carol said...

You know most of the famous people out there, not including our distant relatives, have already left us their best with their art work, music, literature, inventions, philosophy, etc. Visiting them might only make us realize they might also have been unhappy and tormented souls because often the most creative people were also the most tormented. Maybe we are better off just sharing the gifts they left us and not knowing anymore.

Anonymous said...

Wow Solar, That sure is a nice list of people you'd like to meet. Sounds exhausting.

I personally don't want to live longer, I'm looking forward to finding the answer to what is on the other side, if anything.

I think as children our minds are more open to the non-being of being. Notice how babies and animals seem to have a sixth sense? I heard this week it takes years for a baby's brain to understand the concept of 2. We understand 1 and more, but we have to trick our minds into learning 2 and 3 and 4. Just like counting, I think the here and now that we perceive is done by ignoring all the other things that don't fit. When we die and we're no longer bound by a belief in our physical substance, then we are open to the other things in the universe.

Gravity is known as a weak force. One of the theories is that gravity is just seen as weak here in our universe, but an objects gravity may actually exist in many dimensions, with each dimension splitting up a stronger force into a weaker force.

That could explain the orbs and why we only sometimes see them. They're like the flying objects that often show up on videos of birthdays or wedding receptions. None of the attendees remembers ever seeing them, but the tapes show cigar shaped objects flying through the area.

I often see things just out of the corner of my eye, and can sometimes follow them if I don't look directly at them. I'm sure you've all had this happen to you. Who knows, but I think we make our lives shallow when we refuse to admit they could exist.

Anonymous said...

"Seems like there is always a price to pay for having a great talent ."

Yeah, but there are plenty of people who have more than their share of problems and don't have any talent too. This may sound strange, but I think Michael's biggest problem was that he had too much money (and maybe even a child's mind). There's no doubt he was a great talent. But I don't know if I blame his talent as causing all his problems.

Anonymous said...

... but, I'm not missing your point Carol. Smart, talented people can be pretty neurotic. nite.

Solar said...

Chloe,

Mary, I am sorry you don't have a quilt store there. I don't remember seeing much about quilting when in Louisiana. Lots of quilters in Montana - its really cold there and quilting is something to do on long winter nights. Montana is where I learned to quilt. Someone who quilts is Corky Craft. Do you know her? Carol knows her. If you would like a little help making a baby quilt, I bet she would be willing to help.

Hi Coreen, you are right - I finished the baby quilt top and my back feels 98% better. I think when we have deadlines to meet is when we get the shoulder and back pain. We are going to Ark for Thanksgiving and I am going to take the quilt and hand quilt it on the way. I bought this super-duper quilting frame that I can hold on my lap and now I am going to get to use it. Just got it this summer. Had to pay a guy to put it together for me. It was worth it to not have the hassle of trying to do it myself. John is not great at that sort of thing either.

I agree Don. Our extrasensory perceptiveness we have learned to tune out. Because we either don't believe or are afraid to believe. Children just haven't gotten to that when they are really young and those imaginary friends they have are only imaginary to the rest of us.

I had a similar case once of a woman who had to go on leave because of allergies and breathing problems. Didn't understand why we thought she could try coming back to work after co-workers reported running into her at a smoke-filled bar.

I remember one day a good while back talking to this cowhand my stepfather had helping us work some cows. He was a young fellow with young children. I can't remember how we got on the conversation but he told this story about his little girl talking to an imaginary indian girl under a rose bush. He was convinced the little girl saw something. He was just a good old country boy but he believed there was something to it. Seems like it did turn out to be an area where some Native Americans lived in the past.

I am reading backwards at the comments. I don't know if I actually believe in an afterlife. I heard all about that growing up in the churches we went to. I guess I am skeptical.

Like Chloe says (hope I understood it right) since we don't know if there truly is something after death, it might be good to enjoy what we have here in this life. My dad died 4 years ago, and now I do wonder - how many more years do I have - and I am thinking that I want to make the most of what is left, just in case there is nothing more after that.

jan said...

Carol, that is a neat story. I agree that children see things we do not.

I think artistic ability comes with a lot of randomness in the brain circuits, which also cause depression and schizophrenia.

And another interesting theory Mary for the 30+ coming from unnamed town in the center of the map...maybe they are an abnormal psych class that have been assigned this blog as a class project. It's possible. No one else except Mary has offered any of their theories.

Damn, here comes that fly again.

Carol said...

I hope I have left you with enough to ponder this morning while I go slave over a three day back log of work to catch up on.

Carol said...

Oh and one more thing. When I turned off Iphoney last night I must not have stopped my MotionX tracking device. I got up this morning and my battery was almost dead. I turned it on and the program was still running. It had all these blue trails that weren't there last night when I went to bed.....Don't know what that means but I intend to figure it out.

Carol said...

Another interesting antidote before I rush off. Remember a while back when I said I went to Harbor Freight and ended up buying stuff I didn't need?

One of those items happened to be an electronic fly swatter and I remembered it this morning. It was still in the package. It was only $2.95. How could I pass that bargain up?

Well I unpackaged it and powered it up and went after that fly. It took me a little time but I zapped him and his friend good. Saw those electronic parts light up.

I was so pleased until I found that one of those flies landed in my last cup of coffee. Fly karma.

""I do believe Michael's talent and his father's pushing that talent was the single most significant factor in his misery. "

Carol, I think you're right. His success, at way too early an age, was a very significant part of his problem. But I also think it was complicated. I don't really think he was miserable all the time, and I think that he did find enjoyment in his life (he often had fun Carol). But he did have a major problem with coping, and I think all the people in his life that pushed him were adding to the problem. That's a huge amount of responsibility he felt he had to take on.

" Can anyone think of any of the great, famous, talented artists of the past that also had a wonderful life?"

How can anyone possibly answer that question about another person?

But I will say that I have NO DOUBT that there have been great, famous, talented people who have had a wonderful life, and we gain nothing by assuming otherwise.

Hey where did you go...U rang my door bell; and then took off.....'Pinks'

Anonymous said...

Yes, I think I do know what number we're on Solar. Do you?

Oh, I guess you wouldn't be asking me if you did.. haha! I 'think' we're on 38. Does that sound right?

Anonymous said...

I rang your doorbell??
I sat there with my finger on your doorbell for at least a half hour! It's about time you woke up and heard it!! I did everything except honk my horn. I didn't want to wake up the neighbors.

Anonymous said...

That Bullwinkle book, or 'Book of Winkle', whatever it is you call it, is the biggest load...uh, I mean work of fiction I've ever heard. You can't just go changing it to fit your needs, whenever you want. Next thing I know, I'll find out you're a politician.

Anonymous said...

See what I mean?
Mr. in and out, is already out. Ha!
You finally answer the door, then immediately slam it in my face. How rude.

Ok then, I'm leaving (finally).

Anonymous said...

Well fine, I've been hanging around all morning and everyone just ups and leaves.

Solar said...

Ok, I had to answer the phone..and I missed you two trick or theater's...your a little late..and take off that costume...and park that electric powered broom...

Solar said...

I see that we woke up today a little testy...

Anonymous said...

Is there any other way to wake up on a work day?

Solar said...

Been real busy for the last few hours.and have not accomplished anything..just busy....lots of e-mail, and phone calls..but nothing done...

Makes me ask myself..like I do my workers....What are you doing?..nothing.....how do you know when your finished?

Solar said...

Chlo,

If those are the next #'s you have to give the next three...and it the book of Winkle..and it is blasphemy what you said..and it is written and it should be done...

I am fascinated by old crazy quilts. I don't have one. I found a book on creating crazy quilts at the quilt store yesterday - I was looking through all the quilt books - and this one really jumped out at me. It is so neat. If you have ever seen a crazy quilt made many years ago - it doesn't look like any other quilt. They are usually made of fabrics like velvets and silks and they are embellished with lovely old embroidered stitches and sometimes little bits of beads and lace the women had laying around. After the baby quilts are done (one more to go), a crazy quilt is my next project. I even like name - "Crazy quilt."

"That some of the Aborigine were taken as wives, and prisoners by the Mongolians..they also became the American Indian..."

Solar, interesting that you mention this, b/c many American Indians look somewhat Asian. I have a student in my class who is Chinese and she was pointing out to me that my eyes look a little Asian. I never thought about that - I suppose that may come from my Cherokee heritage. My eyes are not round (like my mothers) but are slighly slanted up on the ends like my dad's eyes. He is the one who is part Cherokee.

I just looked at the map and the star with 32 visitors looks like it is behind or very close to Emporia Kansas so whoever it is they are in a midwestern state.

Solar said...

Jan,

Get that tape ( pbs) Journey of Man thru DNA ...you will see that the resemblance

from the Mongolian to the American Indian....striking..could me twins, and 507- apart...see you a little later...was waiting for someone at the front door but nada..my damn door bell got broken...by some immpatient person this am...

Solar said...

was reaching for the phone again...that should be 50-70 years apart...

jan said...

Carol, I looked at one of those links you posted about creativity and psychosis. Do you remember when we were taking our psych nursing course and we discussed someone who was "manic-depressive" I can't remember his name but he wrote several books. After reading several books about Florence N. Our mother-nurse-founder, I think she might have been manic depressive or bi-polar - remember - how they taked about how she wrote "copius notes" I remember those words. Do you remember that the last 30 years of her life she kept "to her bed." I bet that was depression.

gotta go get ready for a road trip tomorrow. We are going to Ark for T'giv. We will drive about 500 miles tomorrow and about 500 wed. I am all pumped up. I like road trips. John and I sing and entertain ourselves. We have a song we sing whenever we cross a state line. For Texas, its the "Eyes of Texas" for OK, its the song from "Oklahoma" When we come back to NM we sing "La Cucaracha" We havn't found a song for Arkansas yet. See, no wonder I like crazy quilts. I am a little crazy myself.

Solar said...

Jan,

Sounds like a lot of fun...stay in touch if you can...

Mary said...

Jan,
Have a good trip and Happy Thanksgiving". Take your computer and maybe you can keep in touch. I like your comments.

jan said...

Solar, I will try to stay in touch. I won't be taking my computer (desk top) but John has his and I may be able to persuade him to let me borrow his on occasion.

jan said...

Mary, got your comment after wrote my last one- One of these days I am buying myself a laptop.

Mary said...

Jan, You and your husband sound like yall have alot of fun. That's so neat. I would love to meet someone like that. I've always loved living by myself but as I've gotten older, I sometimes think it would be nice to have a companion.

jan said...

Solar, I will try to get that DVD.
Bye for now. off to run errands.

Solar said...

Jan,

U tell big John, that I want to have a cpl of words with him...

Mary said...

Jan, Get an IPhone and you can travel with that. Didn't you say you were about due for a new phone?

Solar said...

Jan,

Cancel those cpl of words..just kidding..Mary's idea is much gooder.!

Carol said...

Jan, I couldn't think of any Arkansas songs but since you mentioned driving 500 miles before you stop, I would suggest the song 500 Miles. Here's The Brother's Four singing it. I know you know it. I bet ya would enjoy that song.

500 Miles

Is it little Stevie you are going to visit? Tell little Stevie "hi" for me.

I really don't like the article I linked this morning. They were using the criteria of someone having thought they saw a UFO as criteria for being nuts. Hey I don't think a person who saw a UFO would have to be nuts. Scratch that research.

Carol said...

Hey Ivy, I think everyone in La wants to fire Les Miles. Do you know where we could find a good coach???

Carol said...

Don, you were saying that having to go to work would make someone testy in the morning. Well Don I got a real boost this morning zapping that fly with my $2.95 Electronic Fly Zapper. Never used one before.

It was so much fun that I've been looking for another one to zap all afternoon. This may sound scary but I felt no remorse.

Carol said...

It looks like a small tennis racket and the fly really lights up. A lot more fun than playing tennis.

Sorry about the double post but the first one didn't show up until after I wrote the second one.

Carol said...

Well tonight on DWTS I thought Mya came in last. I was torn between Donnie and Kelly. Kelly got dropped but I blame her partner. She kept up a big smile and didn't let it keep her from doing well with the remaider of her dance.

I voted, but my vote is a secret.

Anonymous said...

38-37-36? She sounds odd.

I might get an android, but not an iPhone. The Verizon network has better coverage, and the app is open so there will be more in time.

Mary, you sound like me. I scared myself when I started talking about selling my rv and finding a couple of acres in Florida so I can putter around the garden. Hard to believe I'd completely quit traveling, but I'm a lot less enthusiastic about packing these days.

Carol said...

Some of the new inmates I saw today looked more like they should have been pledging a sorority not sitting in jail. I wonder what's going on. I wonder what the sorority girls look like these days?

Jan, ya'll have a great and safe trip. Check in if you can. Take some pics.

Carol said...

Those numbers kind of like a light bulb shape huh Don? That's Chloe and Solar's way of saying lights out.

Solar said...

Chloe,

I can say that those are the numbers; but they are not...but you have the right sounding ones. They are 28,27,26 . But not to worry; we still have a way to go..could be a tie...

Solar said...

Don, Funny. Thought we were talking about Mae West or something...

Carol said...

Did you ever get your door bell fixed Solar?

Solar said...

Carol,

An electric fly swatter? didn't know that they existed...that a Southern thing?

Solar said...

Naw, Chloe, and Don leaned on it too much; and now if they want to come by so early in the moring...they will just have to whistle...specially Chloe..ever hear her whistle....

were is the list of people that you want to visit...from the past...

Carol said...

It's a Harbor Freight thing Solar. You have one of those up there?

Carol said...

Haven't come up with my list yet Solar but still pondering it.

Don,

Those numbers are no big secrete..but when we reach 0 I will tell you about it...

I paid only $2.99. On sale. Well worth the price this morning except it cost me my last cup of coffee when the dead fly landed in it.

Solar said...

I imagine that we do.... well I did get up kinda early and will call it a night...still expecting some mail, and I don't want to have to answer it...since it will require a back and forth...night.

Solar said...

Carol, I would have drank that coffee...how much of it could the fly drink?.....never mind...thats a guy thing..have to try and gross the other guy out...

Like my favorite guy in Nerds..Buger...later

Mae has quite the beer belly. And I had nothin' to do besides bug you, it was a rainy day today.

I love Harbor Freight.

Carol,
Are they upset he didn't get a role in the Sandra Bullock movie, "Blind Side?"

Carol said...

No Ivy. Upset about his coaching. Maybe he should try acting.

Solar said...

Hey, Don. I was thinking over my list of people that I would want to visit in the past..and Leonardo D. still topped the list...can you imagine try to keep up with him..and they way that his mind worked...no way that I could have...

Anonymous said...

Leonardo seemed to know things that were precognitive, I'd like to know why. If you ever watched the David whateverhisnamewas show on inventions, they usually build on prior knowledge in steps and often occur in many places at once. Da Vinci jumped leaps and bounds into inventions that wouldn't be developed until the 19th and 20th centuries. How did that happen?

Solar said...

Don,

I don't know..just that that is the reason for my other names. They share this special talent...most thinkers-inventors..and analytical minds were.....night ..just wanted to mention that.

Solar said...

In one of the books that I read..forgot which one...it talked about Shakespeare and how he; in his plays had a lot of the same great traits.....never got around to reading any Shakespeare..but hope to one day....like Chloe say's " I mean it this time; nite..."

Here on the edge of the Swamp we are known to wax and wane about the nature of crime-and-punishment. Professor (and TV commentator) Jonathan Turley has written an article on the return of "shaming" as a modern form of justice. Aren't we as a culture supposed to be more mature than this? Or maybe shame has its proper place?

Return of the Scarlet Letter?

Food for ponder (not to replace turkey and stuffing).

Anonymous said...

I wonder if it would be effective. Peer pressure can be very effective if you subscribe to the theories of Maslow. But today, we either live our lives largely anonymous or create peer groups distributed around the world via the internet.
Being left on the corner of my community to be shamed would have little effect on me, because I have little connection to the retired army people around me.

I hope we eventually go back to a minimalist lifestyle with distributed enclaves that are smaller and closer. I don't think that will happen for a while though.

jan said...

Carol, I will tell Steve "hi" from you. He is not little Stevie any more - He is 43 year old, & 6 ft 3 in.

500 miles is a perfect song. We will have to try it out.

Mary, I do need a new phone. My granddaughter's husband loaned us a GPS system to try. Now that I would like - no monthly fee for this one.

I used to say I didn't want any technology smarter than me - and I have lived to eat those words.

Mary, John and I do have fun together. We have had problems. In our early years together we had counseling two times and both therapists quit their practices shortly after counseling us. I am not sure what that says. We did hang in there and now I'm glad we did - and I think John would say the same.

jan said...

I just spilled nail polish remover in the bathroom - smells awful - opend a window to air it out - could get pretty cold in there tonight - that is what happens when I get in a hurry - all thumbs. I told you I was a klutz.

jan said...

Nite all. If I don't get on here before then, have a good turkey day. I will be thinking of all of you.

jan said...

Oh, one more thing,
Carol, I wonder who you voted for in DWTS. It was a toss-up tonight. I didn't vote but I would still have voted for Mya. If she loses, its my fault for not voting.

Anonymous said...

"They are 28,27,26"

Now you tell me!
Ok then, since you said those three, then I guess coming up will be 25,24,23... or did I just say them? Ha!

"Are they upset he didn't get a role in the Sandra Bullock movie, "Blind Side?"

BTW, That's an excellent movie.

Carol said...

Have a wonderful trip Jan and I'm sure one of your boys will let you check in with us. Tell them it only takes about 5-6 hours a day. And if they don't we have powers that might convince them. All of a sudden some Swamp mud will show up on them. That mud has some nasty side effects. Can't even talk about it here, too gross.

Carol said...

Morning Chloe. Is that you so early in the morning?

Carol said...

I've been getting some error messages when I try to post. Anyone else?

Carol said...

And to answer your question Jan. I voted for Kelly. She was the ugly duckling that turned into a swan. She made the most progress.

Actually she kind of reminds me of some of my girls in the joint. She really beamed in her last performance. Her partner dropped her, don't know who to blame for that, and she tried not to let it throw her off. She popped up with a million dollar smile and kept right on going. That was probably a huge accomplishment for her.

Mya didn't impress me at all last night. Donnie was also good but he is a performer. He has everything he needs.

Carol said...

Chloe, do you have a new post coming? Need to cuz this one is closing in on too many comments. Solar did a great job of stimulating ponders. Even sucked in some new traffic. Maybe even ET.

Anonymous said...

Morning all,

Where's Solar? Sleeping in again?

Carol,
I wonder if all of the anger we here on tv and see in demonstrations is affecting our culture, or if I just need to get away from the news desk occasionally.
Most of us have coping mechanisms so we're not affected, but children and some limited adults might not. If it is affecting some of our population, I would think you would see it in the average profile of your girls.

Carol said...

And Ivy, I'm not sure that shame would have any effect. Humans are adaptable. I've sure learned that working in corrections. Most people can pretty much adapt to whatever they have to.

Carol said...

And Don, one of the reasons I moved out to the Swamp was to fight my news addiction. It was doing a number on me both physically and mentally. It started in 2001 when GWB was elected. I had the news on the TV 24/7/365. I kept it on while I slept so when I woke up I could see if anything new was going on. I was obsessed with it. Now I only have 30 minutes of national news and often miss that because when it comes on I'm usually busy doing something else. I still scan the Net for any big developments and try to keep up some with
TM.

It is also one of the reasons I haven't gotten a dish out here. Afraid I might get back into that unhealthy habit.

Carol said...

And I've learned that it doesn't matter who is in charge of the government. The money people still control it all. We can't change that. I've finally stopped caring to a certain extent.

Maybe someone like Ron Paul would have been a good choice?? He doesn't seem to be as easily influenced by power and money? What do you guys think?

Anonymous said...

I like Ron Paul, but I'm a libertarian at heart.

While Paul is accused of holding extreme ideas, when you really listen he has some well thought out ideas and applies common sense on how to implement them.

He certainly scared the hoohoo out of the establishment though. Newspapers and magazines refused to give him credit for primary election wins, even though he out-performed Rudy.

BTW, I think I masked my original question. Do you think the anger in the media is affecting prison population profiles?

Carol said...

I still don't understand your question Don? It's early and my brain is still in sleep mode.

Carol said...

Zapped another fly. It' now 40-love. Ya know, the tennis racket.

Carol said...

After 6A on work days, I don't have time to respond with any deep ponders. I'm getting ready for work. Can only pop over for a couple of seconds.

Carol said...

And Don, if this is what you mean, most people in jail or prison, are not people who know what's going on in the world, only in their world. They are totally into their own needs and wants.

Ivy Green said...

Carol said... "They are totally into their own needs and wants."

Carol,
The same thing is true (in my experience) of terminally ill and dying people. They have no capacity for anything except what's happening to them. Perhaps it's also understandable of inmates to the extent they have few hopes for the future.

Ivy Green said...

6p01127900efbf28a4 said..."Do you think the anger in the media is affecting prison population profiles?"

Don,
What do you mean both by "anger in the media" and "prison population profiles?"

Anonymous said...

Let me give an example. I lived in a small town on the California coast that has been fighting over a sewer system for 20 years. The water quality board threated to see them out of existence, the utilities board went ahead and selected a site near the bay and released bids without consulting the voters, and a group of hard core people that hated everything in life made life as miserable as they could for everyone else. There were a lot of people in between these positions, but the battle came to consume the entire community.

You couldn't go anywhere in time without being affected by it. Let a board member walk into a coffee shop and everyone started arguing. It became a constant topic of conversation and the entire town suffered from the problem, whether you followed this topic or even cared.

But talking to parents, the biggest problem was in schools with the kids. They started taking out their parent's bad mood on each other, doing some mean things to kids they saw as weaker than them. I imagine as children they were on the bottom rung of this anger at home.

We had a large artist community with the usual mental health issues as well as many minorities that were never assimilated so we had a large group vulnerable to the whims of the primarily anglo population.

We were lucky to have a great group of sheriffs in the area. If they had been abusive it could have really been a problem.

I followed the police logs about what they ran into, but I'm sure a lot of problems were handled before it got that far.

I think this anger is like climate change. You still have weather cycles day to day, but their is a long term trend to worse storms.

I wonder if the anger I see building in people since 2001 affects the population as a whole. Look at congress, they even quit playing their annual baseball games the bitterness became so pervasive. Changes would probably be easiest to see in the most vulnerable populations, children, minorities, women, and the mentally ill.

I just want to make sure that everyone knows, if they have a Thanksgiving post, to please go ahead and post it. Mine isn't very 'Thanksgivingeeey'.
