Baby girl went to bed with her owl.

Couldn't resist putting this one in. I don't give a hoot, cuz her's so coot.
Lil Maggie gets very few toys because Cesar, the dog whisperer. says that too many toys causes anxiety in your dog. My sister's dog, Pedi, has a truck load of toys and that dog is so anxious that that most of the family is still carrying the mental scars from some of his displays. Whew!
I need to share a page from the journal I kept when mom was dying and we were all staying in the same house with our respective pups. That experience made "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" seems like a day at the park.
Well, last week, while shopping at my favorite, just around the corner Wally World store, I passed this little owl, it said, "take me home." Actually it hoots, but it's little hooter broke shortly after I got it home, which was a blessing. Another problem I have with dog toys is that they all say, "made in China". I'm a little nervous about that "made in China" stuff for dogs and children. I just don't trust it anymore since the dog food ingredients that came from China killed so many dogs and cats. Why can't someone here in America start a dog toy business. Just go to your favorite dog store and try to find a doggie toy that says, made in the USA.
Since the dog food scare, I have even been cooking the Magster her own dog food. I can't afford to lose my best friend because a best friend is not easy to come by. Even if I'm too tired to cook something for myself, I find the energy to cook her up something. I only have to do it about twice a week because she is cool with leftovers in between.
I am sure that there are some commercially prepared dog foods that are probably safe and maybe even safer than what we eat but who knows? I test Maggie's food first. If it doesn't kill me then it's good enough for her.
If you decide to cook your own dog food make sure not to include things that have been determined to be dangerous to dogs, ie onions, grapes, raisins, and chocolate. There is a more inclusive list available on Wikipedia.

Mornin' Carol. Mr. Owl is the perfect companion for Maggie. Does he have a squeaker? If so, and if Maggie is a chewer, you might want to perform a squeaker-ectomy. My pups have learned to excise a squeaker in five minutes or less. Loose squeakers are a swallowing hazard.

Charlotte returned sometime during the night. More later.

As for Solar's contribution...well, he did make the effort, and he kept it on the up-and-up. Two in his favor.

Oh, I see you mentioned he's got a hooter, but it broke If it's a round plastic thing, you might want to remove it.

We can't edit our comments, only delete (trash can) and do-over. Not worth it for lack of a punctuation mark.

Maggie doesn't look the least bit anxious here. I say let her keep her owl.

Morning Ivy, I'm rushing to get ready for work. Might be a good day to add your post. You have several pet options, including Charlette to talk about. Now, I'm not trying to pressure you or anything.....

Carol,

I know of people who believe in a raw food diet for dogs because it's more "natural." What are your thoughts about that?

Mine get dry dog food, one of them a vet prescription for diabetic.

Bedtime is Maggie's favorite time. She knows all the signs when I am getting ready to head for the bed, that is, if she is not already under it. She has been doing better lately with staying out from under it.

One of the signs that I was headed to bed used to be the little chime sound when I turned off my computer. Now, if she is in the bed, and she hears that sound, she gets kind of anxious thinking, what do I do now, I'm already in bed.

Carol, It must confuse her if you get up with insomnia, and turn the computer back on. I keep a cheap set of earplugs attached to my laptop, so no one can hear it, if I do that. It sounds so loud in the middle of the night.

A very, very cute picture of a very, very cut Maggie with a very cute owl. )

Ivy,
You can edit your posts by pushing preview first. It'll then give you an edit option.
(not that it does me much good, I'm always in too much of a hurry to be careful)

Bear Woman came through..."Charlotte" has been identified...film at 11.

Chloe,

I only saw my mistake after the comment was posted. Too late to edit after post has gone through except by deleting.

solarcrete said...

Ivy,

You go first if U want. I will follow up with my thread starter afterward?

Anonymous said...

Gotcha Ivy. I learned that lesson the hard way. If you make a mistake and delete it after you've posted it, it leaves a big message that you deleted it. Dumb.

Solar, Why don't you go ahead and post. You can both post something on the same day. The suspense is killing me.

I'd like to give Carol's Maggie-Owl post more time. Maggie deserves the spotlight. She is the Star of the Show!

It's the start of a three-day holiday...we have all weekend to get silly.

solarcrete said...

Ivy, "we have all weekend to get silly" I think that we got a good running start last night.....I have to get my notes together, and will post, when I do. I will just need to experiment on how to post a pic..but I will....last nights was a test run, and it did what I wanted it to....get all of you pinks in a frenzy...HA!

solarcrete said...

You called me an animal...go head and suffer.! Im sensitive over here ya know.... hahaha

Carol said...

I have inmates and had nursing students with less excuses than ya'll are coming up with. Maggie's little pic won't disappear if you guys add a post. Her pic will be there until they google us down.

And Pedi's mom informed me today that her dog's name is Petey, after Peter Rabbit. And she has eliminated some of his toys. I think they only take up half the house now and she'll have the loans she needed to pay for them, paid off in about a year. So I stand corrected. As for his being a psychopathic puppy, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anonymous said...

Ha! I just call 'em like I see 'em Solar. If the shoe fits, wear it.
(rp)

Carol, that talk you had with us about excuses is funny. Made me laugh. You compared us to you inmates. I don't think that's ever happened to me before. :)

Carol, I look good in stripes, good, chains bad.....

solarcrete said...

Side Saddle Sally, would look good in stripes, and chains: She is very special to me, so give her chain some lag to it, so she can get around a little, but not too much..about one or two ft. should do it.....

Ivy Green said...

Carol,

Do you upload your photos to the blog directly from your computer, or from your camera, or from your photo bucket? Anything here I need to know? The devil's in the details, so I try to pay attention to them.

Anonymous said...

Ivy, I know you didn't ask me, the easiest way for me is to first drag the picture out of my camera, or windows photo gallery, or wherever, and put it somewhere easy to find long enough to upload it. Therefore I copy and paste it or drag it onto my desktop. That way, when the programs ask where to get the picture file from (under browse) , you can just tell it desktop (which is always easy to find) and if you click on desktop, it will be there on the list it gives you. Then double click it and it should upload.

When you get to the post site on Carols blog, there's a menu at the top of the post area: the third symbol one from the right is a picture. If you click on that one, theres' a popup that says add an image, you click browse. A list will come up on the left to ask you where you want to go get your picture to upload. That's where I go to desktop to find it, having saved it there earlier, because it's less confusing. But you wil have other files you can choose from too. ( If your camera is hooked to your computer, then it'll probably come up on under the 'computer' tab.)

Sorry to be so wordy, it's much easier than it sounds. Just play around with it. Once you get the picture you want to post onto your computer, it'll be a cinch.

I'm sure Carol and Solar can explain it better than me.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I get some some lag in my chain? Gee Solar, thanks. You're all heart. ha ha ha

I think I'll just ask Carol to put you in solitary confinement. How ya like that?

solarcrete said...

Chlo,

That's exactly what I do, and how I do it. Another thing, is that if I have a pic, on my picture file, or anywhere else, I copy it to my shared pics, or just like you said. I write down the #'s if any, and upload it like you described it....I will make my post on Sunday am...Im in and out cos, of things going on all of the time, and will type it on my note pad or somewhere first so I won't loose it.

solarcrete said...

As long as I can talk to you. That will be fine.!!!

Anonymous said...

Same here Solar.

solarcrete said...

I wonder if Carol, has any favorite inmates.....or out mates??? jejeje

solarcrete said...

Chloe,

I have that pic, of your water fall, and will rotate it with my other favorites. Did you get the one that I posted in my facebook? If not I will try to sen it to you directly. It should have enough pixels.

Ivy Green said...

Thanks, Chloe and Solar. Carol, is that what you are doing, uploading from your computer pictures? Mine are in an adobe file on the laptop. I want to make sure they can't be used to hack back into the computer. I just went through a virus thing which I don't even think is done with me yet.

Carol said...

Hello, I'm back.

Just got back from mowing a tough acre of hay. Actually grass but it could be hay. Need some hay Chloe? I had to hurry because rain is expected for the entire weekend. Drats. I wanted to fish.

I go to my computer and pick the drive that has my memory card plugged in. I download right from my camera memory card.

I also noticed that they have a icon on the post area that say hyperlink. I haven't really played with this much. I'm always in such a hurry. What's the words in that song? Rush and rush until life's no fun.....

Where's those posts ya'll promised? I thought I might have inspired you with my Magster pic. Chloe and Ivy have animals and Solar is one.....He, he, he....

Carol said...

You too Jan, you have those cute pups.

solarcrete said...

Hey, all I asked, is if you had a boyfriend on the inside, of jail, or on the outside....and not that serial killer.

solarcrete said...

If you wouldn't think that I was after your camp, and your giant beaver, and your giant corc. I would come over and stay a while, but......

Carol said...

Never will have a boyfriend in the joint Solar. If I couldn't find a suitable one on the outside in all these years, I don't think I'm gonna find one on the inside.

Believe me they do try to get chummy. It is strickly all professional. I address them as Ms or Mr. and they address me as Ms....

solarcrete said...

That's too bad, cause your a great gal, glad you have Maggie, any way Ms.....later

solarcrete said...

Oh, one last thing. The next time that you see Don-1 over at tm. give him an invite to come over hear. please. I think that he would, and would like it.

solarcrete said...

ps, especially if the scientist friend of Ivy's is around a little.

Carol said...

You give him an invite Solar. He may think this is a girly place.

Carol said...

Was it Don or Dexter who said he studied meditation at age 16?

Carol said...

It was someone on the night shift.

Carol said...

Solar, are you saying it is too bad that I can't find a boyfriend in the joint?

My biggest problem with looking in the "free world" was too busy with school/work most of my life and being in a career where there were mostly women around. The good ones were all taken and I wasn't going to just settle as so many do. I guess it is never too late. He better like to fish, clean house and do dishes.

Anonymous said...

How about mowing the lawn, doing the shopping and washing the car. You've got cooking covered already. But he'd have to be good with Maggie.

Carol, Why don't we work on this guys description. Write down exactly what you would consider. It might be fun.

Anonymous said...

And don't forget cleaning the pool.

Carol said...

I'll definitely keep the cooking, I have that ZTR. I could give up the weedeating. The truck doesn't often get a bath.

Carol said...

Oops a part of that was missing. It was suppose to read, I keep the mowing because of the ZTR. I hit something on this computer and things disappear.

Carol said...

Have you ever had that happen where you hit something and everything just disappears?

Carol said...

Used to be, you could go up to edit and hit undo change but that is not there anymore.

Carol said...

Like in Fried Green Tomatoes, I would like a flock of geese to come, pick up the pool and fly off with it. Did you see that movie?

Carol said...

It wasn't a pool though, it was a lake.

Anonymous said...

Yes. If your courser highlights everything (as it does sometimes on my laptop) then you type something else, it all disappears.

Anonymous said...

Hell yeah, I saw that movie. But if we put together that guy for you, he can take care of that pool too. And it does add to your property value.

Anonymous said...

What's ZTR?

Anonymous said...

Plus, he'd be around to get old with you. That could be a comfort, if it was the right guy.

Boy Bill Moyers said a mouthful in an editorial at the end of his program tonight. A must hear or read.

Solar, Don1one said he is on Twitter. You could probably contact him there if you wanted. You can easily sign up for a twitter log in, under any name you want. I did a while back, just so I could read Craigs and other links. I don't remember my id anymore.

I think this may be him: don1one

Chloe, I can't one more piece of multimedia technology into my life right now. I'm at my multimedia limit.

Carol said...

That is suppose to be fit one more piece...I'm pooped tonight.

Carol said...

Do you remember which one of those night guys said he studied meditation at age 16?

Anonymous said...

Wow Carol, That was a mouth full. I liked this one sentence that seemed to summarize the last few paragraphs:

"No one's ever conquered Washington politics by constantly saying "pretty please" to the guys trying to cut your throat."

Carol said...

Stanford research said all this multimedia, multitasking was going to ruin my memory and it has.

Anonymous said...

I'm almost positive it was Don1. Solar would remember. Send out a smoke signal for him.

Carol said...

The guys on the Trail would like what he had to say. I hope they hear it.

Carol said...

He pops in and out.

Anonymous said...

I don't believe that. It's all about synapses. And when you multitask, the synapses are going crazy. I think it keeps your brain younger.

Carol said...

Friday night is the only night I can get some political discussion on network TV. It is on PBS. Washington Week on now. Bill Moyers just over.

Carol said...

Bill Moyers is alway good. He has great guests.

I think you can get reruns on his website
