Whooo's watching who?

We spend a lot of time watching the birds, our pets and the other wildlife that share our neighborhoods and homes but are they watching back?
I looked up in a tree to see what I could see
and lo and behold, an owl is looking back at me.

Carol, I think they're always aware of us. Whether we're interesting enough to watch (beyond their own self defense) I'm not so sure. Another great shot you caught there!

(btw, I'm not all that sure we're at the top of the heirarchy, so that's a good question you ask there, who's watching who -- hoo, hoo)

You're right Chloe. We may be the species under scrutiny. We are the ants under the microscope.

That owl can move faster and higher. I'm stuck on the ground and pretty slow these days.

It's Sunday, and I think that I will let that "who--hoo, hoo" slide by.....

Carol, Like Sally said, "thats a nice camera for the price" but you forgot to tell us about the other two animals in the tree....

When im excavating for a house foundation, or digging down, removing concrete, or anything. Im alway's amazed at the living things that are in the soil.

We have no Idea of how many different specimens are in the earth. Just to give you an Idea; when you are at the beach, and take a handfull of sand; in your hands, you are holding billions of living organisms.........

The good book doesn't tell you anything about any of these things, but some priest or some one will say it does, point to some passage that no one know who worte, but swears that it is true cos its in the book. ( thats why I truly believe int he book of winkle, it was written, with plenty of eye witness and notorized.....)

Any way, I agree with the flat earthers, the bible should be tought in the same classroom as science; IMO, by the end of the day, the end of the month, the end of the course, their would have been a lot more converts toward the sciences, and another step to ending organized religion......

Carol,

Your morning photos are a pleasure to find.

Sorry I can't keep up with you guys in the
regular conversations.

Can tell you though that when I feed the birds
& squirrels each morning & evening---I often wonder what may be watching me from my woods.

We have fox & coyote & deer (have seen them on occasion & at times you can hear rustling in the trees)

Have not seen an owl in several years---when
I first moved to this house (1998) I also saw bluebirds---not jays---& they were the most beautiful blue--but again not for several years.

Morning Solar, good thoughts. You saw something else in the tree? I'll have to take another look.

I took another look. Click to enlarge the picture and look just a little east southeast from the tail of the owl, on the left branch coming off the large truck. It looks like the face of a panda bear looking at us. Maybe even the trees are looking back at us.

Morning Coreen.

Barn owl.

Just watched that little green heron that Ivy identified for me, catch and eat a little fish. I'm glad he likes to visit over here at Owl Camp.

C-Bob named the camp Owl Camp. I like that name. I have a family of barred owls that come back to this very tall bald cypress tree right next to the water and only a few feet from the camp.

I first noticed the owls 2 years ago. They are back every Spring to lay eggs and raise babies. The picture today is of one of the babies.

Morning Ivy. We missed you!

The Barred Owl has my favorite "hoot" but the Barn Owl has the lovliest face.

Yesterday was a day of sadness. Today is the day to shake it off and move ahead.

You are probably right about your owl, Carol. I was thinking his face was white and heart-shaped. My bifocals may need adjusting.

A day of sadness? Care to share? Don't have to. Hope today is wonderful.

I'm working on it. I try to focus on the solution rather than the problem.

Where have you guys been all day? You're supposed to be cheering me up.

My daughter surprised us and came home from college for dinner. That cheered me up. Her campus is only 15 miles away, but it might as well be a million for as much as she comes home. Does her own laundry so she doesn't need Mom so much.

Carol said...

Well Ivy you didn't seem to want to talk about it. I'd have been there for you.

Carol said...

She needs you but just not for the laundry. I think that is a good thing.

Just ate an entire bunch of asparagus. Boy is my urine going to stink tonight. Sorry about that.

Thanks, Carol. Maybe later. I probably should just have kept quiet, but I couldn't post here and pretend I was cheerful when I wasn't feeling it.

As I've said elsewhere about the word "wait" being a complete sentence. There are times you have to wait until the sun shines again because it always does.

I've felt a little funk in the air today also. A pleasant enough day. Not so horribly hot as usual, a little north breeze.

I started the weekend good but I think I'm feeling the funk from everyone else.

My daughter is amazing. Sometimes she has more wisdom than her mother. Once in a while, I have some for her.

Humor. A good laugh does more than anything to chase away the blues.

I saw somebody's joke-post on TM about God saying "Get your own dirt." That was a hoot. When I repeated it to my daughter is when my day turned around.

Another thing is, you can start your day over at any time.

It must be tough when a child leaves the nest. The worst I have to deal with is Maggie going under the bed and that even hurts my feelers.

Anonymous said...

Some of them you must throw out of the nest. I have one of those too.

Carol said...

How many children do you have?

Anonymous said...

One of each of the two-leggeds. Three of the four leggeds, not counting a cat-on-loan.

Is the boy home or gone?
