People on the river are happy to give...

Yesterday, this little fellow asked me to borrow my boat to do some fishing from. I said sure, because ".....people on the river are happy to give."
Still waiting. Waiting for your ponders....

That was so generous of you to loan your boat to a friend Carol. Keep in mind, next time he'll probably bring the whole family. :)

That song was perfect!

Is that a Little Green Heron hitching a ride on your boat?

Speaking of rides, the Crazy Train pulled into the station this morning, and I have a ticket. It's a round trip fare, so I'll be back.

P.S. My "gremlin" turns out to be a "worm," so my computer is going into the shop for the weekend. I still have this desk top contraption, but it is stuck to the desk which I can't carry with me on the Crazy Train. But I will check in whenever and however I can.

Yes Ivy, I think you are correct. I didn't know what kind of bird it was. I was going to look it up when I got home today and you saved me some work. I just checked in my bird book and it looks the same.

My digital camera is not anything special and I was in the house shooting through a window with the zoom on so the clarity isn't that good. I knew if I tried to go outside, it would fly away.

Time to crank up the feeders, there seems to be more hummingbird activity.

I hope your worm was not contagious?? You could have left the computer outside and let the birds take care of that worm.

Off early today. TGIF!

I wanted to answer a comment made in an email by my friend Jan here.

Thank's for the compliment Jan. You are the one who got me started teaching. I would have never done it without you. The last thing I ever thought I could do was teach. We learn so much more from our students than we ever teach them and our fear of not being good enough drives us.

I do remember that it was your fear that, maybe, it was late for you to be a student when you went back to college, that drove you to excel. Excel right to the top of our nursing class. And both you and Katie taught me how to study. Sleeping with my books didn't work very well.

You were a significant guide and teacher in my life.

I pulled out my trusty little "baby laptop" which despite what Bill Curtis says, is not the easiest keyboard to work on. My regular computer was diagnosed with 58 trojans, adwares and malwares. It is out getting de-wormed, de-loused, and de-bedbugged, as we speak. I thought I was adequately "protected," but obviously not. I am wondering what, if anything, I ought to say to my other cyber-friends and e-pals. I hate to think I unwittingly passed along a communicable disease. For shame, for shame...

Carol, I liked hearing you talk about teaching. It's got to be a tough job, and it's nice that you were open minded enough to learn from your students. That just served to make you a better teacher.

I think a lot of women from our generation are driven by the fear of not being good enough.

Ivy, Didn't you have anti virus and spy ware on it. If not, I'm sure the repairman will install it now.

Chloe, I had Webroot. Apparently not up to the job.

Fear is the great motivator Chloe. We would probably be surprised to know just how many people are fearful of something. Even people who seem so confident.

I use Trend Micro for viruses/spyware.

I'll say, Ivy. Make sure they install something better. Although I do know one anti virus program doesn't catch it all. I got a virus once, and Best Buy had to run eleven different anti virus programs, until one of them found my problem.

Carol, You're right! I just finished posting something on Craig's about how politicians use fear to win.

Carol, Now that I posted a couple of things on TM, watch! Everyone will clear out for hours.

Anonymous said...

Hey, I laughed, but I'm serious.

I'l be one of the ones who clears out because I have to get to hubs's gig. It's not personal - duty calls.

My students were always so afraid of me and I didn't give them any reason to be. The other instructors would line them up and grill them like an army sargent each day before their clinical day.

I didn't have to grill mine. They usually came prepared because of their fear. I even made sure there was a crash cart handy in case one fell out on me.

By the time the semester was over they were OK.

That ought to fun Ivy. Party hardy.

Have fun Ivy! Take pictures.

Come on Carol, you must have some idea why they were afraid. (?) You don't seem intimidating.

Gotta go feed the animals. Will check back later.

I'd rather be home watching the Kennedy memorial broadcast. It's hard to comprehend that a month ago, I stood in the very center of that cavernous glassed-walled room where the casket now lies. I looked around, and realized there was not another soul there other than me looking out across a great expanse of water on that misty, overcast day. Tonight, there are hundreds if not thousands of mourners crowded into that same room, and millions more watching.

It was reported that there are nasty people saying ugly disrespectful things at this time of sorrow. I don't know about that because I can't hear them over the sound of the ocean.

Where is hubs playing tonight and what kind of music do they play?

Anonymous said...

It is a private party. They have just a handful of rock classics to play, and they have changed some lyrics to make parodies for a colleague they are wishing farewell. I hope they won't be compared to the most recent musician who played for this same crowd. That was Tab Benoit from your neck-of-the-woods, Carol.

Now I got to vamoose or I will be late...

Carol said...

I just looked up Tab Benoit on Youtube. I've never heard of him even though Benoit is a very familiar name in this neck of the woods. He's a La. blues musician.

I just love that Youtube. You can find just about anything on it from music to what an alligator looks like just before it eats you. The later is kind of nice to know, especially out here on the river.

We had such a great time with Tab Benoit. He knows how to M-A-R-D-I-G-R-A-S!

Tonight, however, it was "Seventh Street South's" turn to shine. The boys did themselves proud.

Such a wonderful place to live. Did your visitor share the fish? The memorial wake for Senator Kennedy was an excellent, joyous goodbye. Now for the more somber funeral.

Carol, I just read what you said about school and teaching. I remember you first in nutrition class. You were about 9 and I was about 50. I did feel ancient. I was actually 27 when I started to school and now I have students who are in their 40's and 50's. But with all you young whipper-snappers, I did feel old. I was terrified of failing. My dad told me I was too unstable to be a nurse - all because when I was 13 I cried when I read the book, Little Women. Sorry, I think this was supposed to be just a comment. Jan
