Here's Renee's latest...

Carol, for some reason the pics Renee emails come through really tiny & unless I enlarge them when setting up they stay really small..I set them on 'medium' & that causes some blurring...

You know how you can click on & see them, could you try from yours
to see if the pics look tiny like I'm getting here?....(This doesn't happen with yours or mine), have no explanation why they are showing up like thumbnail size....or how to correct it w/o blurring the pics...

Carol said...

I see that but don't know why it happened. Maybe it is because of them being emailed to you. I can set Renee up to put up her own posts. It's not hard to do Renee and Rick can help probably.

She needs to send you the info that goes with each pic and you can add that to the post.

Carol said...

I got some kind of error when trying to add her. Something may be down right now. I'll try again later.

Carol said...

I would like to be able to blow them up. Who is that in pic #3?

Carol said...

Comment from Renee:

just want you to know that I emailed Coreen some more pictures. If she puts them up later tonight... I will be at my local library and might not be able to comment on them right away.

I play scrabble every other Monday night there with a group of friends.

Carol said...

DWTS starts tonight and I will be watching. The Voice doesn't start until next week, I think.

Even though I don't have my DVR here, I can watch either online after they have aired.

Carol said...

First hummer spotted at the feeder at 5:50p. A male Ruby-Throated. The males come through first.

Coreen said...

I emailed Renee, when I saw the pics she sent...the pic is of Renee...but I didn't know that at first!...

Carol said...

I just went to the Ruby-Throated migration site map and reported my sighting.

jan said...

Carol, that is so cool that you play scrabble with some friends at the library. Good for the brain and spirit.

Carol said...

Not me Jan. It's Renee. I just posted her comment from the last blog post.

jan said...

Renee, love the pics. Your house looks so inviting. Is that you in the last Pic? What is the painting about and who painted it? It is lovely.

jan said...

I am laughing to and at myself. Sorry Renee and Carol. I do this all the time. I do think that is so cool.

Carol said...

Are you going to watch DWTS? It starts tonight. I guess I will be watching it this season afterall. I'm already getting excited and I enjoy watching it with you guys.

jan said...

We are in Catoosa OK. I am on the same time zone as Louisiana. Plan to watch DWTS tonight.

Carol said...

Jan, I started Jung's book. I'm on page 9. I'm a slow reader and the left cataract doesn't help. I'm supposed to read the first 6 chapters. That's 200 pages!

Carol said...

You're showing up in Owasso.

Coreen said...

Sticking with my 2 pre-show favs...Dorothy & Ingo (my aussie soapstar)...

Coreen said...

Well they paired Kelly P? with Derek & it worked superbly...whoever she is, she came out like gangbusters...

Carol said...

Never heard of her either but she is cute and was great. 7??? I guess they want to have room to improve.

Carol said...

Crying has already started.

Coreen said...

The boxer looked really good...

And you're going to 'kvetching' about the scores already!...

Carol said...

Well if she got a 7, what are they going to do to the others.

Carol said...

He is cute and to come off all those injuries. Damn.

Carol said...

I didn't think they liked lifts so early.

Carol said...

What ya think Coreen?

RebelliousRenee said...

I'm baaaack... did I win, you ask.... hell no... I rarely win. The women I play with are all retired and they play all the time and are good. I only play with them.... but I'm learning.

Coreen... don't sweat the mistaken identity... I really did laugh my butt off.

Yes... that's a picture of me in front of my bird feeders.

Carol said...

Who took the pic Renee? Tell them to get closer. We will make photographers outta y'all.

Carol said...

We will be dancing on Monday nights Renee. I have to be careful because I can break something vicariously.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... I put a picture of that painting up on TM. Carol asked if I would put it here too.

It was painted by my mother when she was 16 yrs old. It's parishioners on their way to church on a winter morning.... it's the church where she grew up in the little town of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada.

She gave it to her youngest sister. When my mother and I visited her family up there 20 yrs ago, her sister, my Aunt Dorette, said it should now belong to me. My mother died 2 yrs ago a week from tomorrow. I cherish that painting.

Coreen said...

Not so crazy about the 'contemporary' whatever that is...but Jax (Ingo) has always been a big fav from General Hospital...right now he is not on the show again for the umpteenth time....so I like him & the dance was not bad...

Carol said...

That Gleb is hot hot hot.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
Rick took it... that one and the picture of the house were taken on the same day... the day we got back from vacation. He took it as a joke.... I had on an old t-shirt and he thought it was funny considering all the snow we had.... but it was in the 50s that day. Bathing suit weather to us :)

Sorry... I'm not into DWTS. Gonna go watch a basketball game... the Celtics are beating the Miami Heat... at least so far.

Coreen said...

Renee, I think the story about your mom's painting & your aunt giving it to you is so touching...

And I immediately thought that painting could be a christmas card (if you celebrate christmas)...

Carol said...

50s very cold to me.

Carol said...

Hugley is bad! He may be first to go.

Carol said...

At least it will be an easy elimination.

Carol said...

16 did great.

Coreen said...

Yes, dl was a bust...

but the 16 year old Zendaya? was
really good even though not so crazy about contemporary....

Carol said...

I thought the dance was beautiful.

Carol said...

Don't care for the bachelor.

Carol said...

Judges were too kind to him.

Carol said...

Judges are what I dislike the most about DWTS. Len was too easy on him. I guess they are going to drag him through as long as possible.

Carol said...

Scores too high.

Coreen said...

The bachelor was clunky, but not horrible like dl...

whoever Aly is she was pretty good, has a good partner so the potential is there...

Carol said...

Aly very good but what would we expect?

Carol said...

She was one of the fab five, the US gymnastic team.

Carol said...

Lovely for Dorothy.

Coreen said...

Is that who she is...

Dorothy's contemporary was lovely, but not a fan of that in this show....

Carol said...

She moves pretty good for a full figured girl. Wynonna.

Carol said...

I hope Wynonna can stick around long enough to knock off some of the weight.

Coreen said...

All I could think of is zoftig, buxom, a redhaired mae west...

And Andy Dick...shades of george Hamilton...odd but enjoyable...

Carol said...

I missed him while voting. Wanted to get that over with. Didn't leave any votes for Jacoby but I'm sure he'll get plenty of votes.

Carol said...

Coreen Why don't you add some narrative to Renee's pics. You can go back and edit.

Carol said...

I enjoyed Jacoby!

Carol said...

He was sexy.

Coreen said...

The football players don't fail to amaze...a bit frenetic but...

Coreen said...

check out time...it's 5-0

Carol said...

Well, what did Jano think?

jan said...

Kellie Pickler was a contestant on Idol several years ago. She made it to about the last 7 I think. She did go on to become a country singer. She has been on TV several times in past years. She stood out on Idol because of her very southern/country accent. She was popular on Idol but not a great singer.

jan said...

I thought Kellie did a great job. But of course, who is her partner?

I loved the football player. He is an entertaining dancer.

Len is too critical with new dancers.

jan said...

Renee, love the painting. Beautiful. A real treasure for you I am sure.

jan said...

Sorry I did not get on and comment with you all. I was doing work on taxes while watching.

My favs were the 16 y/o, Kellie, and the football player.

Got to go. Going to the Walgreens next door and then back to work on taxes. We take everything to our Acct tomorrow.

Carol said...

Jan, I can't wait until you can get back to your Jung Memories book and help me to understand some stuff. Jung was writing this book when he was in his 80s and I think he has some trouble remembering his childhood. It seemed very dark to me.

I got to a place that has me confused. He had some kind of beautiful thought at a sight at a Cathedral and he's feeling quilty about it. I think he left out part of that memory. I think in the middle of the beautiful thought, he has some really wicked thought that he won't even mention but feels intense quilt about. He feels so quilty that he's going back through his ancestors, to Adam and Eve, to see who to blame.

I've been rereading the same few pages, trying to figure it out. I'll never get through 200 if I keep doing that.

I would say that one thing I've learned is don't wait until your in your 80s to try and remember and write about your early childhood. I hope he just forgot about the good parts. I also think that he invented neuroses, probably the first to experience it.

Carol said...

It's cooled off a little. I was really hot last night. A little cool front came through and dropped the temp down into the 50s, Renee's summer. I did learn to adapt more to cooler temps and now I'll have to learn to adapt to warmer ones. The only problem is that it will have to stick to one or the other for me to adapt.

Carol said...

I heard a howling sound outside and turned on the light out there and opened the door and the wind was really blowing hard. I looked at all my weather places and they don't mention any wind. The moss in the trees is almost horizonal from the wind and they don't mention it.

There are times when I wonder if I'm still sleeping or maybe I have passed but it's the same here as it is there. When you live alone, it's hard to tell. Maggie is still here with me so if I passed, she came with me and so did the camp.

Carol said...

Just reading this Jung stuff can make you start thinking weird stuff.

Coreen said...

Snow has come & gone...about 4" with an icy crust on top...rain kept the amount down...road/driveway plowed, wet/slushy...if it warms up it will melt but so far no sun today...

Renee, how did you guys do?...

All of our snow was gone except for
mounds of plowed snow in parking lots, so now its back again!...

Carol said...

New York now has a country radio station. I just heard that people in New York buy more country music than the people in Nashville do.

Carol said...

Hope with the weather, everything is OK with Renee and no power problems.

RebelliousRenee said...

No power problems here... just slept in for a bit this morning. We've got about 6 inches so far, and it's suppose to snow all day. No turning to rain for us. Since we had about a foot of snow already on the ground... we'll probably have 2 feet+ by the time this storm moves on.

I do feel badly for the wild animals in a winter such as this. Many deer will not make it... and the bears will start coming out of their dens soon... no food for them. I guess it's mother nature's way of keeping their populations in check.

RebelliousRenee said...

On the bright side... I can't go anywhere... so this means I have no excuse to not get some work done today.

oh... and my beloved Celtics lost the game last night by one measly basket. But it was the most exciting basketball game I've seen this year.

Carol said...

Good to know that you still have power Renee.

It's beautiful here with lower humidity than yesterday and cooler. They say that it will still get up to the low 80s but not feel that bad because of the lower humidity.

Just remember when we're cooking, you guys are having nice temps. How hot can it get there in the summer?

Carol said...

I just finished looking over the Pure DWTS website. It's fun to read after watching the show.

I think that Hugley was definitely on the bottom but they could lose that Sean guy. He was the "bachelor". I really don't understand that show or anyone who could watch it. It shows such a disrespect for the institution of marriage. Women or men who could compete for a spouse?? Really??

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
it can get pretty hot and humid here too... but it's usually only for a short while. We can get into the 90s... it takes 3-days in a row of those temps to be considered a heatwave... we usually get one or two of those a summer.

Don't worry... this is really just a bit of snow... spring is almost here and it will melt eventually. Coreen, I can see your eyeballs rolling :)

Carol said...

Renee, I'll just have to settle for my heat because I can deal with it, just crank down the AC and hide inside. I physically couldn't deal with that snow. It would be kinda like dealing with the river out here when it rises and goes over the road. That doesn't happen that often but it is incapacitating.

Carol said...

I guess it all depends on what you get used to. One day a year or so ago it sleeted and was freezing out. Both of my decks outside my two doors had over a quarter inch of ice on them. I'm certainly glad that I was thinking ahead because there were many people who didn't and ended up busting their butts at their houses.

I pondered for a while how I was going to get out and down my stairs to get to work. I finally came up with the solution. I got a bunch of towels. I laid them out end to end over the deck and down the stairs and went down on my butt so I'd be there and couldn't end up falling on it. It worked. The towels stuck to the ice. I might have even been able to walk on them but didn't want to take a chance.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
I have to admit, that if anything happened to Rick... I'd either move further south... not too far... but enough to get the amount of snow that Coreen gets. Or, I'd sell this house and move into a condo. I'd never try to tackle this place by myself in winter.

We are being plowed now... that's why I'm out of my studio... it's my job to write his check. Our plowman just told me he wants this to be the last storm as much as I want it to be.... he's sick of plowing.

RebelliousRenee said...

In early December of 2008, we had an epic ice storm. We had every wire... electrical, phone, and cable... pulled right off of our house. This happened mainly over night... we just laid in bed listening to the snap! snap! of trees breaking... it sounded like bombs going off. In the morning... it looked like a bomb had gone off in our yard. Trees were down everywhere. All our wire were laying on our porch. Luckily... our cars were ok. But it took us a day to chainsaw our way out of the driveway and 2 days with the whole neighborhood's help to chainsaw our way to the main highway.

Yeah.... it probably looked like your hurricane, Rita.
We had no power for 12 days. 4 days later, it snowed a foot... 2 days after that, it snowed another foot and a half. We had the national guard stationed in our high school.

They got the power on for the main highway. Anyone who lived along it, opened their homes for the rest of us to take showers. The church up the street fed us all hot meals. It was hard... but it was interesting.

But now, when a weatherman says "ice"... we all cringe. I hope to never see a repeat of that.

Carol said...

Renee, I know what you're talking about with an ice storm. We also had one of them in 1997. I just looked up the date. Lost power for at least 5 days. The power pole to the house was ripped clean off.

I know that tree branch bomb sound also. I live amoung tons of very tall trees. That's a very errie sound. A very dangerous sound. I assumed you peeps up that way must have those all the time. I guess not.

I have a little fireplace at my house but that was useless. The only time I was warm was running to get the fire wood. If I sat on the hearth, I could get one butt cheek at a time warm. I had family who didn't lose power but I had a zoo living with me at that time, a cat or two, a dog and a bird. Couldn't move all of them and freezing to death was preferrable to dealing with the family who still had power.

Carol said...

No Rita was different. Check with those people over in Jersey and Rita was far more powerful than Sandy, more powerful than Katrina. Both my places were 23 days without power. Every house still standing was wearing a blue roof, vinyl. Some for years. A good portion of my camp roof, where I held up, was laying in the front yard under a couple of trees. There were two half trees laying on the other part of the camp with little strip of bark still attaching them to the other half of the tree.

I do think I would prefer no power for 23 days with heat than 23 days with ice cold. And it was hotter than hell. We had record heat after Rita. We had gone from 1957 to 2005 without a significant hurricane here. I hope we make it that long again. I still suffer PTSD during every hurricane season.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... no... we don't get ice storms on a regular basis. Rain in the winter up here is not a usual thing.

We heat our house with a pellet stove. Pellets are made from the waste products of the wood industry... they are compressed and look just like rabbit food. The pellet stove unfortunately does require electricity to start it and to move it's fan. But we do have a wood stove for backup... everyone I know up here has one.

I hear ya on the relative thing and wanting to keep your animals safe. We chose to stay in our house because of our 3 cats.

RebelliousRenee said...

Wow... Rita sounded terrible...
we don't really have to worry too much about hurricanes... we are far inland. And we don't live near a river.... just a little brook about 200 yards in front of the house... it's never flooded our yard.

Major hurricanes do sound worst than our ice storm. Hope you don't suffer one again, Carol.

Coreen said...

The sun comes out at 5 p.m. along with some blue sky!...roads were
in great shape in spite of the storm...

Renee talking about your 2008 ice storm reminded me that we had one here but it was in 1973 (somewhere I have pics of that storm the trees were coated with thick ice)...I found this story about it from 2008 when the locals were talking about what was happening to you...
Region remembers ice storm of 1973

jan said...

We are still in OK. Went to see our accountant today. So glad to give over all my stuff to him.

We meet with my property manager here tomorrow. Drawing up new contracts then meet with attorney in afternoon. If all goes well, we will start home on Thurs.

The weather has been great - 60's in the afternoon and 40s at night. Ryley has been a great little traveler. I recommend the LaQuinta's if traveling with a pooch. The one here in Catoosa is new.

jan said...

Ark and OK both have more ice storms than snow storms. They are treacherous.

Carol said...

I have sympathy for you Jan. Those are not fun activities. Ryley is probably helping to keep you sane. I look forward to having you back with us more.

Carol said...

Do either of you DWTS fans know what they are going to do tonight? I don't think anyone gets voted off tonight.

jan said...

Is DWTS on tonight? I don't have a paper and don't have the running TV guide on this TV. Let me know Carol.

Yes, all this business stuff is stress city for me. I loved working and getting a paycheck and someone else taking care of all of the deductions, etc.

My dad and mom had businesses all their lives.

It has been great having Ryley. I keep her close to me and she reduces my stress level. I see why having a pet keeps one's blood pressure down. Just tending to her needs takes my mind off all this stuff.

jan said...

Renee, I agree with Coreen, the picture your mother painted would make beautiful Christmas cards.

Carol said...

I worked as an independent contractor when I worked in the ER. I said, never again. Not worth it. When I went to work for that Doc I insisted that we do it the old fashioned way. So his slut puppy secretary was withholding my taxes and SS and not paying them into the gov. Fortunately, I wasn't responsible for that.

Carol said...

DWTS starts at 8 and goes to 9, according to the guide on my Dish. I'm not sure what they will do tonight. Not enough time for everyone to dance again but they said they would have another dance before the elimination started.

Carol said...

Renee, I watched you little video on Frost Heaves, linked on TM. It was very cute.

Carol said...

I looked to see if there was actually a town called Frost Heaves. Doesn't look like there is.

Coreen said...

Didn't DWTS elimination shows the night after dancing do the same kind of thing...recap some of the dances & fill time til the elimination?...My guess is that's what is on...

Frost Heaves looks like a little of good old new england humor...since you can't get there from here!...

Carol said...

Frost heaving is an activity that can occur in the soil. I didn't read enough about it to understand it. Don't think I'll ever see it here.

Carol said...

How do you guys keep from busting you asses when walking in ice and snow. Have any cleats on your boots?

Carol said...

Coreen, I hope they do replay some of the dances. I missed Andy's dance and would like to see it. I read that he did pretty good, better than anyone expected.

jan said...

Carol, thanks for the info on DWTS.

jan said...

DL is funny but did not do much dancing last night.

jan said...

Are you guys there?

jan said...

Andy is dancing.

jan said...

Actually, I thought Andy did pretty well.

Carol said...

I agree Jan. I just saw him. He did much better than I would have expected. I hope he doesn't get the boot too soon.

Carol said...

I've seen Andy on entertainment shows but didn't know all that he has gone through. It takes some real courage to do this.

Carol said...

I'm going to enjoy watching that Gleb. I need to get that cataract fixed, fast!

jan said...

The woman with the dog is a pretty good dancer but she seems too aloof. I don't think she will last long. Not much personality.

Carol said...

Who's watching her anyway?

Carol said...

I like the new pros.

jan said...

Me too.

Carol said...

Don't miss Max's attitude.

Carol said...

On that Pure DWTS site, many people said that Jacoby is a really neat guy. Some people were misreading his attitude last night.

Carol said...

He had little time to practice since he was still recovering.

jan said...

I liked Jacoby's dancing. He was entertaining.

Carol said...

I read that "contemporary" is a new category this season.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... the town is actually Peterborough,NH. It's a small artsy fartsy town. The play, Our Town, by Thorton Wilder was also actually Peterborough also. The town is also the home of this nation's first public library.

There 's a really neat little playhouse there.... waaaay out in the woods in a converted barn. Frost Heaves is a show put on by locals... they do one in spring... and one at Christmas time.

jan said...

I love the play "Our Town." Have never seen it in the theatre.

jan said...

Didn't Shawn, the gymnast win last season?

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... I hope your taxes go well. I LOVE having pets... I couldn't imagine my life without at least one.

Yeah... the picture would make a good Christmas card. I'll think about it.... I'm usually going crazy at Christmas time... I have a fair (in Peterborough) and I have a half dozen galleries that I need to supply with scarves.

Carol said...

Neat Renee. I bet those shows are fun.

RebelliousRenee said...

Hockey game has started again....
the Bruins are winning.

have a nice night...

Carol said...

I didn't watch much of DWTS last season. I was watching the Voice.

Does Kellie sing anything I know?

jan said...

Some good dancers tonight. Of the stars I think the women are the better dancers. But Jacoby can do better, I think.

Carol said...

Agree.

jan said...

I have not really followed Kellie's career. I have seen her occasionally on different shows but don't know what specific songs she is singing. I am pretty sure its country.

jan said...

Going to bed. Oh yes, already in bed. Just going to put up computer.

When we get home, I promised John we would look at new phones. Ours are going on 4 years, I think. Guess we will look at smart phones.

Night all.

Carol said...

Nite.

Carol said...

Anyone see the story about that punk murderer who had killer inked across his t-shirt in court for his sentencing hearing? That's some piss poor security. If they didn't know about that, what else could he have had on him?

Most inmates, before their trial and before sentencing, are kept in a local jail. They can be somewhat lax about some things. That kid will do some serious learning when he gets his ass to prison. They will knock that attitude out of him. That smug attitude won't last for long.

Our guys got away with more than they could in the state prisons. When we evacuated them during our hurricane and hurricane threats, they went to prisons around the state. I heard some interesting stories about how they were greeted when they got off the buses. They didn't come back so cocky.

Carol said...

I'll tell you Jan those family estate issues are a pain in the butt. SF died over a year ago. I'm the executrex/trustee. I have a bookkeeper, a lawyer, an CPA, we have some high faluting appraisal group that was hired over 3 months ago to appraise the property because they were the only ones who we could get to do it. It's their specialty. They said it would be 90 days and I don't think they have done shit. Couldn't find another soul who would do the job. Nothing seems to be moving along. There's SFs long time hired hand and a cowboy in the heir group. Everyone is making something off this stuff but my family and I'm having to take flack from everyone. All I got is the stress of it all.

The cowboy group decided they would cut and bale hay, after the cows were gone, and charge the estate to do it. Have that hay stacked up. I sold the cows because the market was very good at the time and I couldn't even get liability insurance on the fields because SF had let it lapse. I wasn't included in that decision to bale hay. Heard tell it was being sold, no profit to the estate. No way for me to monitor that. These people live there and I'm 40 miles away. And they have the gall to threatening me like I'm slowing shit down. I've gotten nada but a pain in the ass from all this.

Bookkeeper is pissed because they are tormenting her. They won't call me. Why not? I've got phone and know how to use it.

I have an appointment with the lawyer today. Nothing moving there. I've known this guy for a long time and I do trust him.

Twin decides she wants the family house and is in the process of just moving into it. It's too big for her and needs a ton of work.
She's in worse shape than I am. Others are bitching at me for that. I, at least thought that maybe she could learn that it's not a good idea and keep an eye on the others out there. Even she is tormenting me because others don't like the idea. I'm in the middle of a bitch fest...or a kvetch fest. All I want to do is hide in Jung's psyche. It's dark there but less dangerous.

Carol said...

My SF and I were the best of buddies and I was his only son/daughter since he never had kids. He never really did anything much for me besides that. I loved him very much and greatly enjoyed our time together. I did do a whole lot for him over the years. I was half the husband he didn't have time to be for mom. She preferred me because they really didn't even like each other for years. He did trust me to leave me with this mess. So, SF, if you're listening, do what you can to help.

Carol said...

There are some in this group that could be monitoring this blog, probably aren't anymore. I don't care. If they are...good!

Carol said...

The wind is howling again. Maybe it's Pa talking to me. He needs to speak human.

The joint is rocking and stuff is flying at the place. When the weather is bad, it's more obvious out here in this tree house. It has survived a lot so I guess I'm safe.

Carol said...

I used to have more of a wind break to the north but the neighbors on that side, who are never out here, cleared all their trees away. They kinda had to to build a bulk head but that left me exposed.

Maggie is still laying on the couch so I guess we are OK. She has kinda a 6th sense about weather. She takes cover a good bit ahead of really bad stuff. I usually follow her lead.

Carol said...

Jan, I thought that John, the early adopter, already had a smart phone. How did he hold out on that? I know that you do texting and if you are trying to do that on a regular cell phone I'm impressed. It's hard enough on a smart phone but on a regular phone...you need some sort of award for that. It's not like it's in your DNA like it is for the kids these days. But then the kids these days all have a smart phone, even if they live in the ghetto. The ghetto kids probably have the smartest of smart phones.
They are pretty smart about getting one of those.

Carol said...

I'd look at one of the android models. I'm sure John has been studying the issue. I don't like several things about iPhone. It has issues with stuff on the Net. I think just the name sells a lot of them. They could put out poopie and people would buy it if it's got the Apple name. Now Coreen, who refuses to use a cell phone would recommend the iPhone. She has stock.

Check out the HCTs, the LGs and the Samsungs.

Carol said...

Speaking of stock market, which I did mention, it's been really kicking ass and taking names. Interesting that in these troubled financial times, it's bordering on a record high if not already there. What does that tell us?? It tells us that the money people are alive and doing very very well.

My little Bristol Myers stock is kicking ass. I bought it at 34 and it's over 39 now. My other stock is not doing well, it's lost about half what the other gained. It had a new fat drug. I've always been of the opinion that investing in obesity is a good investment, especially if the product to treat obesity doesn't require work. I guess that new drug may have killed a few people but then...that is one solution to the problem..but probably not a very desirable solution. LOL?

I've personally been investing myself in obesity. Or it's been investing in me. I always knew that when I got that damn thyroid fixed, that is what I would have to look forward to. That's why I left it alone for so long until it took out most of the density in my bones. Now I'm going to be a fat person with no bones to hold me up. Can't win.

The gale force winds have died down...for now.

Carol said...

Jan, it seems like if you went to bed at 10, 9 Albu time, you'd be awake by now..if you did manage to get any sleep.

When we woman hit menapause, we also get a pause on sleeping. You have to catch what you can, when you can. God didn't do us any favors, did she. Maybe she isn't a she afterall. Maybe she is a she. I've always said that women don't do their species any favors. They get up in those high positions and are damned if they are going to help any of their sisters get a leg up. Maybe God set the standard there.

Carol said...

I'm full of wisdom this morning..huh. Or at least I think I am and really, who else matters? Just like Renee, all it matters is that we keep ourselves laughing. LOLOLOL

Carol said...

OK, wake up one of you bitches.

Carol said...

I'm going to have to put on some blue jeans to go see the lawyer. I've been wearing warm ups, easier to sneak the fat on. Now, I'm going to have to stuff that fat into a restricted waist line. That will impede the area that I have been using to breath since chest breathing has been out of the question. I wonder how long I can hold my breath???

Carol said...

I see that they have taken banning assault weapons off the table. I guess it will end up coming down to asking everyone to promise to be very careful with their personal arsenals.

Carol said...

Morning Renee. Finally got your butt up?

Carol said...

Is that blunt enough for ya? I'm practicing just in case I get to visit yous guys up there.

Carol said...

Maggie finally got off the couch and saundered into her bunker. Five minutes later the rain came. I told ya.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... just quickly popping in here to tell you I have to go get blood work done this morning before my diabetic checkup on Monday. While I'm in the city, I usually grab a few groceries. I probably won't be back until later this afternoon.

Sorry about all the executor troubles. I went through it too... but my parents didn't have much. It was just my brother, sister, and I as heirs. Luckily, my sister didn't act up too much.... she didn't want to know much except when was the check coming. Dang... it does take a long time though. I feel for you. See ya later.

Carol said...

There's the thunder. She knew it.

Carol said...

Here's to a great HA1C.

Carol said...

Only a few groceries? If I lived that far out in the boonies, I'd be pulling a u-haul for groceries. But that's me.

A young injured Iraq veteran sent this letter to Bush and Cheney

"I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans—my fellow veterans—whose future you stole."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/19/tomas-young-letter-iraq_n_2908335.html

If my theory is correct, the two of them, when they pass, will have to experience all the pain they caused all those soldiers. Not going to be a fun experience.

Carol said...

With this gun issue, the Repubs are creeps and the Dems are weanies. The rational public is behind more than what the politicians are willing to do. Both are no good!

Carol said...

I'm going into my attorney's office today and tell him that he better put the pedal to the metal on this estate business. He's gonna have to take the flack for how slow this is going and be the one who does the explaining. Many do believe he is dragging this out. I don't think so but I don't think he is pushing the envelope either. Most lawyer have lots of tasks in the works and it's no benefit for them to move things along when they charge by the hour for their work.

Carol said...

My type S personality, slow, is ready to go but my appt is not until a little later. My S personality is still more A than most A's are. I think that I can work in a nap. Will set the alarm on phone.

jan said...

Good morning swamp rats. We are sleeping until about 7 am. Of course, it is 6 am in NM. It is going to be another busy day for me.

Yes Carol, being the executor of an estate when someone dies is not a fun job. I never want to to do it again.

I did have a great lawyer who handled all the estate issues and did a wonderful job.

This issue with the property my dad left is something that my sister did.

jan said...

I had a strange dream last night. But going to work on it some today.

jan said...

The atty I had for the estate is not the one I have now. They handle different matters.

jan said...

If all goes well today, we will head home tomorrow.

To celebrate finishing the taxes we stopped at the ice cream place. Within one hour of finishing my sundae I was having this God-awful cramping. I should know better but I fall off the wagon once in a while. My Indian blood does not like dairy or alcohol. I can live without the alcohol but give in to the dairy on occasion.

Better this morning.

jan said...

Carol, what a moving letter the soldier wrote to Bush and Cheney. If there is any Karma, these 2 will pay for what they did.

jan said...

Renee, good luck on your tests today. I have had my A1C higher than normal in past. Last check up it was normal. Hope yours is in good range today.

jan said...

Carol, hope your weather not too bad. It is supposed to rain here tomorrow.

RebelliousRenee said...

I'm back.
Carol... I don't do cell phones either. I have one in my car in case of an emergency. But if you ask what it's # is, I usually answer "how the f**k should I know".

I don't like the idea of being "connected" at all times.
I see it as being chained to a machine.... not for me.

Won't know my A1C until Monday... it's usually in the 6.4 - 6.8 range.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... I'm slightly lactose intolerant too. I can get by using those lactaid tablets. But I don't indulge too much. I do allow myself to have a kiddie ice cream several times in summer... but that's it... mostly because of the sugar.

Carol... if you can figure out a way to make me a contributor to this blog... I don't have a problem with learning to put up my own pictures.

RebelliousRenee said...

Right now we have someone taking the snow and ice off of our roof. We've developed an ice dam and Rick is nervous that it might have damaged our roof. He's talking about having a new one put one this summer.

Coreen said...

So it's spring...don't feel real
springy...seeing all the white, I'm not a happy camper!...& I can't leave the car window open yet...

Renee, 2 seasons ago I had the snow on the roof cleared off...they came with a cherrypicker
to clear it...even had to have the snow pushed back along the driveway where it was plowed, since there was no room to plow any more, they used a 'bobcat' to push the snow back to make room...that was a terrible year, luckily this year the snow has melted after each storm so there is no buildup...I did not get any icedams, but one of my friends did & it caused leaks throughout her second floor & even the first floor. hardwood floors damaged, ceiling damaged, she had buckets all around when it started melting, before she had someone clear the roof...so hope you don't have any leaks...

Coreen said...

And while I do have a cellphone in my pocketbook, it is more often than not dead, I forget to charge the battery!...it baffles me how
all these people stay on their cell all the time, since they have to be recharged....

I don't know the phone # on the cell, Renee...but I do have
a phone in my latest car (don't know that # either) (also told if I had an iphone or smartphone, it could be programmed into this car...one of my friends had the car dealer do that because she can not live w/o all her contacts in the phone!...

And Carol, yes one of these days I am going to go & get an iphone...not an imitation!, the real deal, forget those androids....

Carol said...

Is this cell phone phenomena specific to your area?? How about your friends?? I feel serious anxiety if I leave home without my cell phone but I don't use it when around other people unless it's an emergency. It took a very long time to remember my phone number but I don't have a land line and I move between two places. I had to use that phone for so long being on call 24/7. Now, I don't use it that often...as a phone. No one to call anymore. I probably have a crap load of roll over minutes. I did cut the minutes in half when I quit work. I do use the Internet feature. I take you guys with me anywhere I go.

Yeah Coreen, like you're an expert on what is an imitation. I know what your point is thought...it's all about the money. You own Apple stock. LOL.

Carol said...

Had a very productive meeting with the lawyer. Things are moving.

It's beautiful out today. 67 and only 50% humidity. What I call a Seattle summer day, at least it was when I went to visit. I still have on jeans, a sweat shirt and warm up jacket. Comfortable in that.

Carol said...

I had my lawyer laughing today. He enjoys my humor. I've known him for over 30 years. He's a sweetheart. I used to teach with his wife. I loved her. Jan knows her..Pat Dow. She asked about you Jan. I told her we kept in touch often.

Pat's Jan's age and she has medical related businesses, those BP machines and medical record storage. She probably makes more than her husband does.

Carol said...

Pat also has a good sense of humor. I remember her keeping me laughing when we taught together. We actually all started grad school together, for at least the first semester. We did a lot of laughing then. She dropped out and Jan and I continued. I think she did go back later, somewhere else?? She didn't continue to teach for long. She focused more on her businesses.

Carol said...

Yes...Happy Spring. It certainly feels it here. I wish I could keep this weather all year. Wouldn't do well with swimming but I could give that up.

Carol said...

I stopped by Krogers and got another rack of baby backs. They were on sale for $2.49/lb. I already have a couple of racks in the freezer that I got on sale. I like to stack up my racks for when I have visitors. I make the world's best BBQ sauce. Some people actually drink it. Well, they would if I even ran out of meat that I cooked to put it on. I never do run out.

The first time I cooked them for big sis I told her that I was going to BBQ some. She said...I don't think I'll like them. I said..OK, you don't have to eat any. LOL, I couldn't get her to stop.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... I LOVE barbecued ribs. And no, the cell phone thing isn't a northeast thing. It has to do with my personality. I don't have children... am my own boss.... Rick would never try to tell me what to do cuz he knows I'd just laugh. I want to walk out of my front door without anyone being able to bother me. I value my privacy.

But that's just me... I understand why others love their cell phones.... I say "go for it" if that's what someone wants. I know there are very good reasons for having one.... like being in touch with one's children, spouse, parents, friends, clients, and just because.

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen... there are no leaks. And the guy said he got to the ice dam in time. Very little damage to our roof... he can fix it later when the snow melts. It's the roof to an addition we put on 12 yrs ago. The roof over the main part of the house, may still have to be replaced this year.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol....
go to Dylanratigan.com. Dylan has resurfaced and has sent an email to all those that subscribe to his website. I just got it.... it's long and I'm not going to paste it here. He's moved to southern California... San Diego.
He will be on tv tomorrow and Friday.

Carol said...

Renee, unless there is a drone looking in my windows, I have lots of privacy. I do have those hummers looking in and they do now have hummer drones soooo.....

Unless it's business, not often, I don't get many calls anymore. I don't miss being on the phone. My brain needs a break from whatever is emitted from those phones. I mainly only talk on speaker now.

In the summer, when theres a lot of boats out on the river cruising at night and I have my lights on in here and no privacy curtains, people can see in here. I was sitting on my couch one night. I made a little waving motion with my hand when a pontoon passed. Everyone on the boat waved back. I make sure now that I don't scratch my butt in here when there's a boat passing and I wear clothes.

Carol said...

Thanks for info on Dylan. I've been hunting him.

Carol said...

I just entered those dates, places and times for Dylan in my phone calendar. Thanks. My phone is my brain.

Carol said...

Renee, I finally tracked down why I was having trouble inviting you to be an author. I kept getting an error message. It was because I was using Internet Explorer. Google doesn't like that. I used my Google browser and it worked. You should be receiving an invitation. Just follow those instructions.

Carol said...

Let me know when you receive your invitation. Does Rick use a cell phone? I bet he does.

Carol said...

I get Walmart brand of lactose free milk. They have it in full, reduced fat or skim. Breyer's a has a great natural vanilla bean ice cream that is lactose free.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
I've received the invite... I will be cooking supper in a few minutes... I'll try it after we eat.

Of course Rick has a cell phone... how'd you think I got mine... I didn't go buy one, he bought 2. Don't know what brand it is.... and don't know which data plan we have. All I know is if I use it (and I have), it works. Rick used it a lot more when he worked than he does now... just like you.

I have a friend that buys lactose free milk. It would probably go bad before I could use it up... so I don't bother. Rick doesn't have a problem. He eats cereal every morning. I eat eggs. I buy regular milk and just use the lactaid tablets on the rare occasion I feel like having Cheerios.

Carol said...

Renee, that lactose free milk has a long expiration date. Stuff I just got is good until late May. I mainly use milk for coffee. I may end up throwing a little out when I get a new half gallon when it gets low. I end up wasting very little. I use a little in a pasta roni garlic herb angel hair pasta mix I make. It's good and quick. Can't think of anything else I use it for.

Carol said...

I also depend on my phone as a help I've fallen and can't get up device. If that happened I could lay forever before found. I make sure it is on me at all times.

The time I fell down my steps and broke three vertebrae, this new friend had come over to spend the night to go fishing the next morning. It was a miracle she was here. I couldnt breath much less move She even stayed with me after I got out of the hospital until I got on my feet again.

Carol said...

BYW Jan, we are swamp turtles not rats. Nothing against rats but turtles ate cuter.

Carol said...

Renee you have to accept the invite first. Then your name will go on the list of contributors. When you are ready to do a blog post you can. Go up to New Post top right of page. You'll get a box kinda like TM. Has a place to insert pics. I don't think you can screw up anything unless you really work at it.

Carol said...

Perfect spring day. 73 and 24% humidity. Perrrrfect.

I do prefer using the Google browser. It has a spell check. I missed that when I used IE. I can't remember why I went back to IE. I think it was because something I was trying to use preferred it.

Carol said...

I can't tell the difference between the lactose free and regular milk but I'm not a milk connoisseur.

Carol said...

Look, Renee is now on the list. You have to go back to the first page to see.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
well... I apparently put myself on the list... but I somehow screwed up. It now says I have to get another invite from the host in order to put up my own column. Sorry... I dont't know what I did. I did not ask Rick for help. I want to be able to do it on my own.

Carol... you need to send me another invite.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... disregard that request to send another invite...
I figured it out.

Carol said...

I just looked and it says you are an author. I can't invite you again. What browser are you using?

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
never mind.... there's a new post...
I figured it out and have made a new post with a pic of
Rick and I...

Carol, good to hear you talked to Pat Dow. She was the reason I started teaching. She encouraged me to apply for that summer psych teaching job. Pat is like you. She can tell some great stories - usually on herself. I remember one she told about her dog getting hit by a car. She had just gotten out of the shower and ran outside with a towel around herself. You might ask her about it sometime. When you see her again, tell her I said "hi" Her hubby is a great guy too.

jan said...

I think the dog was ok.
