OK, all the pics are from out here except pic 3,4,and 5. Those were taken at Tomato Woman's house where I had lunch today. She made baby back ribs, baked beans and potato salad. I made some spinach/artichoke dip. It was all delicious.

Carol said...

The bird pics are doves on the feeder. Doves are ground feeders and don't usually get on a feeder. Then there are those silly squirrels. And a dinosaur at the end, no, that's just an anole trying to act bad.

Carol said...

HLN replayed the opening of the defense and prosecution of the Casey Anthony case. I taped it and am watching it. There's a lot I didn't know about the case.

The defense did present some doubt concepts, not sure how reasonable. Casey would have to testify to put any of those doubt concepts into the case. Even though she has proved herself a liar, I don't think she is smart enough to pull it off.

jan said...

Carol, I love the pics especially the one of you. You look just like you did years ago= except you now have beautiful white hair. The tomatoes look good enough to take a bite through the screen.

jan said...

This conference is so interesting but pretty intense. I don't know if we will last until Friday.

jan said...

We may need to pace ourselves and not go to all the classes.

Carol said...

Oh yes I've changed. I'm 20 lbs overweight. I did find out that my thyroid was too low and am now on a low dose thyroid replacement. Much of it is due to hand to mouth syndrome.

Carol said...

And I'm a large stuffed in a medium t-shirt.

Carol said...

Jan, with the temps they are predicting for your area this week, I don't think anything would be interesting enough to keep me away from the AC. I'm just too old and intolerant. My roughing it days are over.

Carol said...

I've spent a good part of today and this evening catching up on the Casey Anthony trial. This one is hair raising. I've always been interested in true crime, not the TV fiction dramas, the real thing.

This girl had been lying to her family for a long time. I can't believe they didn't see thru her lies. Mother is a nurse and dad a security guard and ex cop, both trained in interviewing people and human behavior.

Mary and I did a few devious things growing up and mom usually didn't fall for any of our lies. She was more apt to believe we were lying when we weren't except for one time when she believed us when we were lying. She went to bat for us and that made more of an impression on me than anything else. I felt so bad about that that I never lied to her again.

jan said...

Carol, how interesting about your mom going to bat for you and then making the decision to never lie to her again. I believe that was unconditional love you perceived coming from your mom - and that was what made you decide to not lie to her again. I think when parents have those expectations of their children, that the child will "live up" to the parents' expectations. Great story about your young life.

jan said...

One of the things I like about this conference is that the speakers are using "stories" to get their message across.

jan said...

I am sorry I am missing the Casey Anthony trial, but I will catch up when we get home.

So Carol, what do you think happened?

jan said...

I do miss AC very much.

jan said...

Carol, I really do not believe you are overweight. What is your BMI?

Carol said...

Jan, it seems pretty obvious that she killed her child. The evidence is just too air tight. Her defense is throwing her dad, a last minute plan, under the bus by saying that he molested her when she was very young and that he found little Cayles's floating in the pool and yelled at her that she would go to jail for neglect. They say he helped to hide the truth.

The drowning idea just doesn't hold water in my book. It would have been easier to just report the drowning and have a good explanation for how it happened. It is the number one cause of death for young children in Florida.

And her dad was a cop, he could have come up with something. The defense is saying that he covered it up because he didn't want any investigation that might discover his sexual abuse of his daughter. That's possible but a stretch.

The molestation might be true and might even explain how she could be such a cold calculating person. This is a stretch but I wonder if she could have even developed a multiple personality. That usually occurs when an individual has such a traumatic event in their early life that they create another personality to cope with it. I've heard it described as a creative alternative to insanity. It's extremely rare but too bad the defense didn't go for that one except that they would have to admit that she did kill the child.

Casey did not do anything to prepare for a defense for the murder except dumb lies. She was in serious denial..off partying, getting tatoos, hanging with a new boyfriend, like nothing had happened and no one would be looking for her kid.

I'd also suspect some Xanax might be involved. I've seen some of our peeps do some crazy horrible things under it's influence but, again, they would have to admit she did kill the child.

Carol said...

For my height and bone size, my ideal body weight should be close to 130. I'm pusing 150. And I'm using my height, before I got knocked down at least a couple of inches with my compression fractures.

Carol said...

I was trying to hide my gut behind the tomato plants but Tomato woman's mother kept chasing us with my camera. And I forgot to suck it in.

Carol said...

I guess I could say that when my spine was compressed it made me bulge in the middle. Would you fall for that one???

Carol said...

And Jan, to keep up with this trial you would have to spend every minute of every day and no one, but me, would want to do that. Sure glad that all of our TV programs are over...except that I think America's Got Talent is soon to start, this week, I think. Well, good thing I have a DVR.

Carol said...

Something I haven't heard is..what was this Casey like years prior to Cayley's disappearance? She was lying to her parents for at least a couple of years when she said she was going to work and she hadn't worked in 2 years. Now how did her parents not realize this?? What was she doing for money??

Carol said...

What is extra interesting about the coverage of this trial is that the camera focuses on Casey when someone is testifying about something she did. You can watch her facial expressions. Also they will pan to her parents when something involving them is in the testimony.

Hi guys...

Carol, I'm jealous...everything is growing
so big there...and those tomatoes!!...they look
so good...If I planted any tomato plants, you have to wait til like August/Sept to get the
fruit...

Jan, sorry about the lack of AC at your retreat...while I really don't like AC, it is
a necessary evil...luckily we don't need it
all year...another reason I could not live
in the Southern states...that & the never-ending humidity that exists further south

jan said...

Carol, thanks for the update on the Casey A. trial. I don't know why but I find it hard to believe she actually killed her child. Very strange not working for 2 years. I too wonder what the heck she was doing during that time.

jan said...

Coreen, I thought about you today when we were having a presentation by a woman - the theme was the Beatles. It was great. The 3 presentations this morn were my favorites of the conf so far. All 3 presenters were women. All 3 are authors too. I know you are wondering " how can this relate to dreams?"

We have a break between lunch and 3:30.

I took a long walk this morning for about 45 min. It helped a lot. I feel normal again. We do a good bit of walking between sessions and back and forth to meals.

jan said...

I am getting used to the lack of AC. I am sleeping very well - so it can't be too bad.

jan said...

Carol, for someone your ht. 150 is good. You have always been thin, so any fat at all much seem like a lot to you. When you are 5 ft 1 in like me 5 lbs is a lot. I am sure I am gaining wt on this trip, but I don't care. Although I may be singing a different tune in a couple of weeks.

Carol said...

Yep Coreen, this heat grows nice tomatoes until it gets to about July and then the plants cook. It's over but if you grow them, you have so many up until that time that you're kinda of ready to see them go.

I don't grow the big ones because I grow mine in pots and don't have much luck with the bigs ones in pots. I grow the grape ones and they do well in pots and they also hang on longer. I have mine where the trees block the hottest sun.

I'm not that crazy about the big tomatoes unless it's for a BLT. I use mine in my salads and the grape ones are better for salads, IMO. I can get all the big ones I want from Tomato Woman. She sent me home with a mess of them yesterday.

Carol said...

Jan, it sounds like you are enjoying the conference and glad you are tolerating the heat. The cooler evenings are probably nice if you have a fan.

Carol...nothing like cutting up a garden grown fresh tomato (the big guys-Big Boys, Beefsteaks, etc) a little oregano, gorgy cheese, vinegar/oil (balsamic is good) or Marie's red wine vinegar is nice.... luckily around here, there are a few farms/farmer's markets in the surrounding towns... that
sell veggies in season, so I don't have to try
to grow them myself...the only trouble is its
feast or famine...since the growing season is so short...

Anyway I am still jealous of tomato woman's crop...I can almost taste the ones in the pic...by the way, did I notice Miracle gro
in one of the pics...great stuff....

Carol said...

You have to use the right Miracle Grow for Tomatoes. Tomato Woman and I argued about that. She was using the all purpose and was getting too much leaf growth and not as much fruit. Finally she listened to me and she got more fruit growth.

Since I grow my plants in pots I use a weak solution of the liguid fertilizer almost every time I water. I have to water at least 4 times a day when it's this hot. I come home for lunch to water and still have to water the moment I get hom.

Anonymous said...

Oh & it was 80+ today...not too humid though...
can't complain....we are supposed to go back
to the 70s by the weekend, that would be ideal...

And yes I know about miracle gro I use the one for roses, & miracid for the holly...though
I should have fed the holly already....I did
use miracle gro for tomatoes when I did grow
them...

Carol said...

Well, I've caught up with the testimony in the Anthony case today. I'm surprised I could get thru all of it. I did fast forward all the commentary and commercials.

Casey was a pathological liar. She made up so many things. I don't know how far back that went but at least since Caylee was born. That's as far back as they cover except when she said she was graduating high school and the family planned a party and at the last minute they found out she was actually short a credit.

Casey had fantasy friends, relationships, job, the nanny etc. I think her mom bought most of it. Casey was so committed to her lies that she would even make plans for these people to spend time with her parents and they just wouldn't show up.

It almost appears, to what I can surmise from the little info I have, that Casey even believed her own lies. Weird. I'd like to hear a psychological analysis of this girls behavior. I wonder if that will be included anywhere in this trial. Since no one is claiming insanity, it may not be appropriate to include it. This is a fascinating case.

Carol said...

I'm trying to figure out a motive for Casey's killing her precious child. I think one was to eliminate something that tied her down and I'm starting to lean toward that maybe her action was a giant FU to her mom and her dad.

Her mom is definitely conflicted. She doesn't want to give up the whole truth either.

Carol said...

Jan, are you going to tell us how the Beatles and dreams relate?

Carol said...

Casey's mom's testimony was extremely sad but I didn't get much insight about Casey from it. I think I got the most from the short, still incomplete testimony from a relatively new friend, one Casey met just 6 months before the murder. This woman may be the first real, not imaginary, friend that Casey had.

jan said...

Carol, I appreciate all your insights and info from the Casey Anthony case. Casey may be a true sociopath. From your descriptions I would guess this. Family members who love them have a very difficult time believing they are so flawed.

jan said...

I would love to explain the association between the dreamwork stuff and the Beatles. The woman/author who did this presentation has this as a chapter in her book. She used the Beatles to put forth her theory of how the Beatles were so important in our country's evolution from a very paternalistic society (1950's) to one where feminine energy has greater acceptance. When the Beatles emerged on the American stage in 1963, women and thus "feminine ideals" were not valued at all - she illustrated this in the fact that only teaching and nursing were open to majority of women as careers. She also illustrated this by showing how men's hair was super-short and the Beathles all had longer (not long) hair that was combed around their faces to show a softer side and more feminine side of their faces.

jan said...

She divided the Beatles music into 4 categories: Soldier influence, Poet influence, King influence, and wise man influence and categorized each one of the Beatles and all of their music into these categories. She also further divided their music into "early Beatles music" and "later Beatles music."

I am not really sure how she connected all this to dreaming. However, dream work and dream interpretation is viewed as more feminine and soul work.

jan said...

So to answer your question, I am going to have to give this some more thought as to how the Beatles relates to dreams or dreamwork.

jan said...

The woman/author who did this presentation has been a major mover in dreamwork in this country - she just also happened to write one of the chapters in her book on the Beatles. I will have to read her chapter to try and talk about your questions Carol.

jan said...

Back later.

Carol said...

That's very interesting Jan. I'm looking forward to more of your explanation. Interesting analysis of the Beatles.

Catholic churchs here use this prayer during hurricane season. Since the season officially started today, I think it is a good time to post it. I did it last year.

Prayer for Hurricane Season
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen.

Originally dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Audrey in 1957.

jan said...

Just here for a few minutes. We have another class in about 15 minutes. We get little free time, but it is all so interesting. I don't feel the least fatigued because it is interesting and fun. The meals are healthy and good. Lots of fruit and veggies. There is dessert noon and evening meals and of course I don't pass that up either. I am walking every morning. I miss swimming - we have a lake but I will wait for a pool.

jan said...

I need to take some pictures tomorrow. Have not taken any here as yet. I know I will come back again next year - "God willing and the creek doesn't rise" An old OK saying

jan said...

Hi Carol, Great prayer. Wow, did not realize hurricane season already here.

Carol said...

Here's an article that Chloe might find interesting. I tried to get thru it but didn't have enough "will" to make it.

.Free Will (And Why You Still Don't Have It)

jan said...

Carol, I remember when the whole thing came out on TV about Kaylee Anthony missing. Casey's mother was the main one who "sounded an alert" about her missing granddaughter.

jan said...

oops, gotta go.

Hurricane season starts today & hopefully will
be a quiet season all-around, but in the meantime it looks like a possible
tornado set down in Springfield, MA today...we
have been seeing video of it in the CT River,
& the damage it did to some bldgs...

We did not have any bad weather...it seems
to have passed both north & south of CT...

I saw where that tornado did some damage to a building in Springfield.

Beatles & dreams...don't quite get it...

As for influences on the Beatles music...pretty sure their early music was
influenced by early American rock & roll...Chuck Berry I believe has been mentioned
by at least one of them...Not at all sure what
the 4 categories the author refers to means
at all...

And yes there is a big change from 'early' to 'later' Beatles...

As far as the jump from 50s to 60 paternal vs.
feminine coming of age through the Beatles...again need a whole lot more information to process that as well...

Always thought that one of the 'liberating'
events for women in the 60s was
the introduction & widespread use of birth
control pills....again not sure how the Beatles
ties into that beyond their music as a backdrop
for romance/fun/sex...

Anonymous said...

Jan, hope you will flesh out all that Beatles
reasoning at some point...

Carol said...

Jan, I think Cindy Anthony is probably feeling tons of guilt for insisting that her daughter take responsibility for her own child. Because she did what she thought was the right thing, she lost a beautiful grandchild and will lose a daughter. I think the grief she displayed yesterday on the stand reflected that realization.

As parents you just never can know how these things will turn out. Raising kids can be like playing Russian roulette.

Carol said...

Coreen, there already is a tropical system in the Atlantic, near Florida. I don't think it is predicted to do much though. Hope not.

Carol said...

Jan, we used that same saying around these parts. We have lots of creeks.

Carol said...

There was a star flashing on our map today with the name Hurricane. That made me jump just a little. Don't particularly want a hurricane lurking on our blog.

Looked it up and the town is in West Virginia.

Hurricane, West Virginia

Carol said...

Temp hit 99 today. Yuk.

jan said...

I just found an Asheville star and it is flashing. That is so cool!

Coreen, I bought the book this woman wrote that has the chapter about the Beatles in it. It made sense when she was talking about it in her presentation. I probably am not telling it with any clarity. I am going to have to read her book and the chapter. She lives in Athens Georgia and has been responsible for starting the much of the dreamwork movement. It is a small movement and is going on mainly in churches - here in the southeast. Her name is Joyce Rockwood Hudson and the name of the book is Natural Spriituality: Recovering the wisdom tradition in Christianity.

This conference is being held in an episcopal camp but the 130 or so attendees are from all Christian denominations including Baptists and Catholics. Lots of Episcopalians, Methodists & Presbyterians. I have not seen any of the Jewish or Islamic faiths.

jan said...

99 is pretty high Carol. It is June 1st. It hit 91 here today but we are in the mountains.

jan said...

Carol, I can imagine this must be really hard on the grandmother. I don't know if I have told you but I did my dissertation research on teen mothers. I did home evaluations using a specific tool in which I assessed the infant's home for "stimulation" of the child. IN the homes in which the child was being provided the "richest" emotional and physical environment, the grandparents were involved with the child yet giving the mother support in her parenting. I made home visits in homes of caucasian, african american and hispanic teen mothers. The African american and hispanic families were doing the best jobs of this.

jan said...

It is very hard as a grandmother to step back and not be in control. I feel for Cindy Anthony. I am sure she thought she was doing what she should do. I wonder how in the world was she able to be fooled into thinking her daughter was working for that length of time.

jan said...

So Carol, do you have any doubt that Casey killed her daughter?

jan said...

BTW, we have not watched any TV here - there is one in a "commons" room next door. Have not missed it. Of course, we have been able to use our computers - so we are not entirely unplugged.

Good night all.

Carol said...

Casey blows my mind with her lying. She created a story for the police with lots of details, people, places, times and all of it were lies. When she gave names, she gave first, middle and last. How often do people give a middle name for someone??

Did she not realize that the police would check everything out?? It was as if she thought if she thought it, it would materialize. I've never seen anything like it.

This girl is seriously abby normal. I can't find any reasonable doubt that she's guilty. I do see how the defense is trying to insert some and it's a stretch. Everything they alluded to will require Casey to testify and I can't see her defense allowing someone, who is so notorious for lying, to testify.

I know a insanity defense is almost impossible and that a person can be nuts and not still be considered insane by the legal system, but I think that might be their best bet. I don't know if this girl was intouch with reality. She created her reality from moment to moment.

Coreen, can the defense change their strategy later if their original strategy starts to fizzle?

Carol said...

Another interesting thing is that both her friend, in her testimony, and her brother, in his testimony said that Casey told them that her mother told her she was an unfit mother. Why? Mother didn't testify to that. She testified that she was a good mother, a natural mother.

Most everyone else testified that she was such a great mother also. There was no details as to why her mother told her that she was unfit.

Still, the best testimony re: a motive, was from the very short testimony of her girl friend. She just met this friend in Jan of 2008. Her child was killed in June of that year.

This is one of the few friends that wasn't fictitious. She was partying with this friend but she often couldn't go out because she had to take care of Caylee. Her mom insisted that she take care of her daughter.

Casey did a computer search on chlorform and breaking a neck along with other things in Mar of that year. Chloroform seems to be involved in cause of death.

She met this new boyfriend in May of 2008. It seemed that it became increasing necessary for her not to be burdened with the care of her daughter.

Oh, and after she killed her daughter Casey stayed for a week with this friend. Then the friend went out of town, left Casey her car, and while she was out of town, Casey cleaned out her bank account. She was on video all over town, shopping. Didn't she realize that she would find out???

Guys, the lights are on but nobody's home!

Turned out to be a glorious day here...

Carol, no very little about the trial you are
interested in...no idea what the defense strategy may be...if its an insanity defense,
likely that would be an affirmative defense that the defense would have to prove she was
not capable of forming the necessary intent
& other elements of the charges...usually the
burden of proof to establish this is very high...but as I said I have no idea what their strategy might be...

Remember the burden is on the State to prove
each & every element of the crimes charged by
the strictest burden of proof, i.e., beyond a reasonable doubt...

Have not listened to any of the commentary about the trial...

Personally, I have no sympathy for her, her family at all...the likelihood of the mother
not having done it seems quite low....the proverbial random mysterious stranger commiting these types of crimes...flimsy at best...

jan said...

Casey Anthony trial sounds so interesting. I am looking forward to my Time magazines to see what they are saying also. However Carol, you are doing a great job of keeping me up on the details.

Tonight is our last night here. We will have breakfast in the morning and then take off. If nothing else comes out of this, I am so relaxed. No thoughts at all of work or if the house is all together. Fortunately my son, Terry is keeping an eye on the house and watering what few plants we have in front.

jan said...

We are having a lovely thunder storm and rain this afternoon and evening. So nice.

jan said...

Coreen, so glad you had a glorious day also.

jan said...

Carol, I know I said it before, but Casey must be sociopathic. Sounds like a calculated and coldblooded murder. I feel so sad for the little girl and those who loved her.

Anonymous said...

And why is this Casey trial commanding so much
attention, apparently she's just another woman who killed a child for her own selfish reasons...here's another trial that happened
apparently in the same court last week where
the woman was found guilty of manslaughter, but
hardly a blip on the media's screen...

Carol said...

Jan, I'm glad you had a good retreat and relaxed and enjoyed it. I also envy your little thunderstorm. A thunderstorm would cool it down. It's 102 right now and dry as a bone. It was 103 on my way home from work. I can't remember having this kind of heat this early in the year.

Carol said...

Coreen, the defense strategy is that Casey lies so much because she is a victim of sexual abuse and that her child drowned in the pool and her father found the child and covered up the death. It's a big stretch. I don't think it will fly but it's all they have.

Carol said...

Almost everything that comes out of Casey's mouth is a lie and she will even offer proof that shows that she is lying. It's almost like if she says it, she thinks it will materialize as the truth. It's crazy.

Carol said...

And Casey is so committed to her lies that even when they are proved to be a lie and a better option comes up, she won't change her story.

When the police interviewed her trying to get one speck of truth out of her they offered several possible scenarios for the child's death which included drowning in the pool and she never bit on it. Now the defense is using that one.

I really don't think that Casey is the one who came up with that scenario, I think someone on the defense team is just throwing it in as a possibility. I just can't believe they would ever allow her to testify. She has no credibility.

Anonymous said...

Just turned to HLN...they are talking about her
web of lies...& showing tapes of her in jail
talking to her parents...contrasting it to her
claims of abuse by her father...

Tell me have the parents cut her loose yet...

Carol said...

Coreen, her parents are conflicted. Her family is still supporting her even though she threw her father and brother under the bus. Well, actually she didn't, her lawyer has. I really feel that she's not in on that plan.

Carol said...

You know she just didn't wake up two years ago and turn into this lying machine. She has to have been doing that for years. I still can't figure out how her mom bought that she had a job. I think she was stealing from her family, little hints, but she had to have been doing something else illegal for money. I'm also dying to hear whether she had any history of drug abuse.

But what is interesting about her lies is the deal she puts into them. Lots of detail. When most people lie, they are short and sweet. Her extensive detail might make people more likely to believe them.

Coreen, I often wonder why one news story gets so much publicity and another that is similar gets no media attn. I remember when the child was first missing - I think that could partly be the reason for the media attn. The child was missing for a month or more before finding her body. I think Casey's mother really drew attn to the fact that the child was missing.

I've had to record my boys so I can keep up with the trial that takes every waking minute, and a good bit of my sleeping ones, to keep up with.

Carol said...

I'll need to do some napping this weekend to catch up on my sleep. I just don't want to miss anything. I've never quite met anyone like this girl and it seems that no one else has either.

Last night when I was watching the Issues with Jane.., on HLN, they had a Shrink who is one of my homey's. Yep, he's a local shrink. Don't know how he got on that show but Jane barely let him talk and when she did, it was about something they didn't need a shrink to talk about.

There so much behavioral analysis that I want to hear but the lawyers hogged all that and that isn't their expertise. They gave him a tape over the mouth question. He seemed frustrated. I even sent an email to Jane telling her to let the Shrink talk.

Carol said...

Jan, drive safe going home. I haven't seen what the weather is doing..or what anything else is doing. Hey the Rapture may have come and I had my face stuck in this trial. If something important comes up, please drop me a note.

Carol said...

Where are you going to land tonight Jan and will you be connected??

I've been back to trying to catch up with the trial. I'm seeing something with Casey that I also see with many of my inmates. I have even discussed it here before. Many of these people, like Casey, commit crimes and have no insight into the consequences. It also doesn't appear that she was prepared at all for how she could get out of this. Her only plan was it didn't happen.

If this was premeditated, she would have planned this out better. Even though she did research on the Internet about neck breaking and chloroform, I don't think she was planning out a premeditated murder.

I have the feeling that circumstances occurred that set off this action. Maybe she even planned to use or did use the chloroform prior to sedate her child so she could do things. I don't know if the child's death was a botched sedation or if she snapped with anger because her mom wouldn't give her a break by babysitting while she went out to party.

She told her friend Amy that she could get her mom to take care of Caylee for an upcoming night out because her mom owed her?? There has been no questioning of Cindy Anthony whether Casey asked her to babysit prior to the murder even though her friend testified just prior to her mom's testimony that Casey wanted her to. I wonder why?? I don't think the prosecution wanted to push her mom any further than they had to and the defense certainly wasn't going to go there.

How does the duck tape over the face and nose come in?? Could be that it was a last minute attempt to make it look like murder, by someone else?? But why add a little heart over the mouth?? It really makes no sense, at least to anyone with sense.

She made a comment, during one of the jailhouse visits with her parents, when they asked about where Casey could be, that she's probably closer than you think. They found her just down the road. Was she giving them a hint??

Hi Carol, we are in Jackson Tenn tonight. This is 1st time we have seen TV or newspapers for 5 days. Everything is about Casey A. and John Edwards.

Gosh it was hot today. We have been in a bubble. The temp here is hi 90's. We do have a temp indicator in the car. It showed 100 in some areas on the trip.

jan said...

What are your plans for weekend Carol and Coreen?

jan said...

We are going to stop tomorrow night in Ft. Smith, AR, John's birthplace where he also spent his growing up years. John wants to revisit houses where he once lived. He no longer has family there but it will be a trip down memory lane for him. It is a nice town too.

Carol said...

Hi Jan. Don't see a Jackson star. There's a Johnson City star but it's on the east end of Tennessee. How far did you get today?

I'm just going to do chores and quess what else?? Yep, follow this trial and maybe an extra nap since I'm behind in my sleep trying to keep up with the testimony.

The jury is doing Saturdays also since they are sequestered. They are now into the forensics. Most of the day today was Casey talking with her family on the jail video. Her dad doesn't come across as a molester or like he knew Caylee was dead. It kinda blew a hole in the defense theory.

All of Casey's family was working hard to try to get info from Casey without pissing her off. They were trying to handle her with kid gloves. I could see their frustration. I was even thinking that some stress positions or a little water boarding might be in order. Just kiddin.

Carol said...

Something Lee, Casey's brother, said in his testimony stuck with me. I don't know if he said Casey told him this or if it was just something he said his mom said. It was that Casey made a lot of mistakes in her life but the best mistake she ever made was having little Caylee.

It made me think...if she was really pissed at her mom prior to killing her daughter, maybe one motive was that she was going to do away with the one mistake her mom really appreciated. The ultimate FU mom.

Carol said...

Another thing that I think is weird is why did Casey dump the child's body in her own neighborhood, right down the road from her home?? It's obvious that the body was in the car for a period of time so she could have driven it far away and dumped it but she didn't??? Makes me think that she wanted to be caught.

jan said...

We are in the eastern end of Tennessee so I think my star is Johnson City. We are only 100 miles from Memphis.

We could have made it to Memphis yesterday but John does not like to drive more than 500 miles a day.

jan said...

I watched some of the stuff on Casey yesterday and comments from many experts. One expert that really struck home to me was a woman attorney who had been sexually abused as a child herself. She said the family is extremely dysfunctional. She think that Casey could very well have been abused by her dad and the reason she shows such strange facial expressions is the fact that she dissociates.

jan said...

Back on the road again.

Have a great Saturday!

Good morning...

All quiet here...and it's three day in a row of beautiful weather...

Jan, I see you are moving along on the way
home...

Is today when you will stop in the town John
grew up in?...you know that going along on your
various road adventures has been informative & fun...so hope you have more in store for us...

By the way, does John do all the long-distance
driving?...

When you get time to relax...I'm in the middle of reading The Fifth Witness, by Michael Connelly, another of the 'Lincoln Lawyer' series, a good read...topical...Mickey Haller,
attorney is defending a woman charged with
murdering the banker who's bank foreclosed on
her home....

Carol, you might even like this story...

Actually reading the real book, a large print one, my mom got it & enjoyed it....have to say, I do enjoy turning the pages of the book,
but you still can't pry my kindle away from me...

jan said...

Hi Coreen, sounds like a good book. Was the Lincoln Lawyer good. I might read that too.

John and I share the driving. I have to admit he drives more than I do. Today, I drove more b/c we were driving a longer distance.

We stopped in John's home town and went to the cemetery where his parents and other family members are buried. We looked up all the graves. He wanted some dates. We were going to spend the night there (in Ft Smith) but it was only 3:30 and we decided to get further down the road so we can get home tomorrow. We drove until 8 pm tonight. It will only take us 7 hours to get home tomorrow. We can hardly wait.

jan said...

We are in Weatherford. I will look for the star.

jan said...

Carol, where are you?????

jan said...

Coreen, I didn't bring my Nook on this trip. Too many techie things to have to plug in. I brought 2 books I has been wanting to read. Read them both. So I will definitely continue to read books as well as the Nook. I bought some books at the conference on dreams too.

I am looking for some books to put on Nook so I will check out the 2 you mentioned above.

Carol said...

Morning guys. Took the day off yesterday. Be careful driving Jan/John. I bet you really miss your home, sweet home. It's nice to go on adventures and get away but there's no place like home, no place like home. When I used to go on vacations, once the vacation was over I just wanted to beam home, no wait.

Carol said...

I saw on the news this morning that little Mason, the hurricane dog, got his broken front legs set. I'm sure you guys were all aware of that and I did see pics of him when I fast forwarded thru the news to catch up with the trial. I told you that I was behind on everything else that went on last week.

It's amazing how much heart, unlike us humans, our little critters have to overcome pain to get back to their fly. Doesn't even matter if they come from a dysfunctional family. Great contrast to the Casey Anthony family story. That was a very dysfunctional family but I just wonder what percentage of our population comes from dysfunctional families. It seems that the longer and more time a fly stays together, the more dysfunctional they become.

I think it might be a good thing to live far away from your family of origin and just visit every now and again. Then you can really appreciate the fly. Family members just know each too well and know how to push each other's buttons. Fortunately most families don't get to the point where they kill one another.

Carol said...

I did see some of the trial yesterday but now they are into the forensics and even though I like forensic science, it isn't that interesting. I'm cool just to know what they found but don't want to listen to all the to and fro from the attorneys on it. I'm much more interested in the behavior aspect of the people.

jan said...

Carol, how very true. I moved away from my FOO (fam of origin) when I was 24-25 and lived away from them for many years. When I moved closer to them from 1999 to 2003 I was constantly in turmoil. Moving away again was the best thing I could do for myself. I live close to my 2 older sons and their families but that is working out ok for me. I hope it is for them. They tell me it is. We get together for family get togethers but if they have problems they don't tell me about them until after they are resolved. I try not to give advise.

Carol said...

We caught a few short thunderbumper last night. I heard a little rumble and thought I might be hallucinating. I looked at the radar on my Iphone and sure enough there was a little red spot, enough to get Maggie's attention. I was cheering it on. I heard some rain but when I checked the rain gauge this morning, it just had some moisture in it, nothing measurable.

Carol said...

Have you heard that Florida is considering or has inacted a law to test welfare recipeints for drugs? They will lose their welfare if they are on drugs, I assume. Or will they offer a substance abuse program?? Very expensive and not that effective. I've heard that La is considering the same thing. I just hope they give them fair warning.

I've often pondered and debated that concept with others in the past. I used to think it was a good idea but after spending time working in corrections, I have a strong feeling that it just won't work. I do think that a considerable number of people on the welfare rolls may use drugs. Which came first the drug abuse or the welfare?? Don't know. What will happen to those people and their children if you cut off all their financial resources? Does that turn them into productive citizens?? I think not. Will it turn them into bigger criminals?? I think so.

Another problem I've pondered for years is how to discourage poor people from having lots of kids. It seems the poorer someone is, the more fertile. I guess sex is cheap entertainment.

I do a pregnancy history on all female that come thru medical and the number of pregnancies each of them have had is astounding. Young women, maybe 20, with 5-6 pregancies already. Many of the children are not even in their custody. I sometimes ask if they ever considered a tubal ligation and many say no, they don't want one. What is the answer to that?? Nothing humane.

Carol said...

Jan, I was pondering so hard that I didn't see you slip in. You guys be safe on the road today.

Carol said...

Jan, you seem to have worked out a good relationship with your kids who live close. You are lucky there. It's when you have to deal with any financial, health, or relationship issues that things get crazy.

Carol said...

Jan, when you get home, if you are interested in hearing some of the testimony from the Casey Anthony trial, the Orlando Sentinel has a website with lots of short videos from the trial. I found things there that I even missed and I'm recording every station that is covering the trial.

Casey Anthony Trial

Carol said...

If you go to look at some of those videos, and they are interesting, check out this one "Unedited: Judge sentences woman for comtempt." That video will give you an idea of some of the types of people and reactions I deal with on an everyday basis. It will give you an understanding of why I feel the need to come home and hide and babble when I'm off work.

I've been running an ER from the house today. We tried something new today. One of my patients had a severe skin reaction to an antibiotic. My nurse took pics and sent them to me on my Iphone. I was able to see exactly what the lesions looked like, more severe than the usual urticaria from drugs, but is a medication reaction, most likely to Bactrim. It was severe enough to send him to the ER.

Carol said...

Coreen, what do you think about that Anthony Weiner twat shot or should we call it the teeter twitter? (Let's see if those catch on.) I really liked that guy and would be terribly disappointed if he sent that out on purpose.

Carol said...

It's another hot, 100+, day and dry. It is so dry that I've been putting out some mini water bowls for the little anoles and/or other tiny critters that needs a drink. The river might be right here but that's a long hike for an anole.

Carol said...

I just finished making some Gazpacho with Tomato Woman's big juice tomatos, my home grown cucumbers, and my home grown Basil. It's so good and so easy. Peel the cucumber and dice up small. Peel the tomato and dice up small. Hold the tomato over your bowl so not to lose a drop of juice. Cut up the Basil leaves small and add salt and pepper. Chill for an hour and it's delicioso. It actually tastes like it has a dressing on it.

jan said...

We are home again. We got in about 3 pm this afternoon. I went swimming as soon as we unloaded the car. I had some fluid retention in my legs and feet from traveling and the water gets rid of it. I unpacked and put stuff away when we got home. We got some baked chicken and some rice and veggie california rolls at the store for supper.

Good to be home.

jan said...

The temp was in mid 90's here when we got home. The ac was not on while we were gone but the house was not too hot - 83 degrees inside. It cooled pretty quickly.

I am a little tired. so off to bed.

Carol said...

Jan, glad you are home safe. Is there a problem with smoke in your area? Saw that on your weather last night.

jan said...

We heard about the fires in Arizona from John' brother who lives in Little Rock. When we got closer to Alb there was a white haze over the west. I can actually smell it. There are air quality warnings.

jan said...

It is nice to have my tea in our own house. It is dry here too Carol, but we are used to it.

jan said...

We were not expected by my work to be back until this afternoon, so I have a totally free day from work.

jan said...

Your gazpacho sounds great.

jan said...

When we arrived home, all of our outside plants were blooming so had been watered regularly. Also the yard was clean and free of any weeds and debris from winds we have had. The back yard was also completely clean of weeds and stuff. I thought my son Terry had done this. Later in the evening a little old man that does spring and fall yard cleaning came by. He had done all the cleaning and came by every other day to water. He recognized that we must be gone so just took it upon himself to do this. Of course I paid him for his good work. He said he has not been getting much work lately.

jan said...

It is 57 degrees out this morning. ONe of the things I love about living here is that it can be 95 degrees in the afternoon and evening and the temps drop down in early morning. We continue to sleep in our little finished basement bedroom as it is cool down there and we can turn off our ac at night. I have windows open this morning and we probably won't have to turn on ac until about 2-3 this afternoon. It does get hotter later in summer and will be in 70's in early morning and up in hi 90's in afternoons.

Anonymous said...

We had several days in a row of delightful weather, mid 70s daytime, 50s at night, no humidity, but the end is near...may reach 90
by mid-week & humid...

Glad you got home w/o any mishaps Jan...

Carol, you have been sweltering for quite awhile, any relief in sight, & are you close to the Gulf itself, are there beaches on your Gulf coast?...

I keep hoping that our summer this year will be one where 90s doesn't happen at all, that would please me...

Anonymous said...

Carol, looks like you may just have to be disappointed in Anthony Weiner...

seems there are more dumb pics he was sending
out...the NYC media won't give him a pass...he
missed the annual Israel parade yesterday...& with the latest revelations, he has some splainin' to do...

What is more humorous is the efforts of the
liberal media to cover for his sleezy actions...there is a Barbara Walters view clip
with her claiming oh he was just trying to tell his wife how much he missed her....(walters explanation, not a fact)....

Best comment in the NY bits...that he looks like Arnold Horschak from Welcome back Kotter...& I see it...a little schumck...

Anonymous said...

By the way...today is the 67th anniversary of D Day, when the allied forces landed in Normandy...the beginning of the march to defeat Hitler & win the War...

jan said...

Coreen, I envy your temps. It is only 87 here but feels like 97. Maybe my temp regulating system (body) is broken. 90 is supposed to be our high.

Anonymous said...

Carol...Flash...Anthony Weiner on the radio
in hastily called news conference to confess
he lied...it was him in the pics (there were more to come), he's deeply sorry to everyone...
it was dumb, destructive, humiliated, shameful
(his words, not mine)...has no explanation as
to why he did what he did...was doing it for
3 years, several women he sent texts & pics too...facebook/twitter....

Anonymous said...

I even felt sorry for him, he was choked up,
remorseful...apologetic...

He is not resigning, he loves his wife, she loves him, he never met any of the women personally...just on the internet....

Instinct tells me he survives in the long run
as congressmen (but whether he gets to run for
NYC mayor which it is claimed he wants, remains
a big if)....

So I ask you guys who study human behavior, why
do these guys do this stuff...

He says he has no explanation of why he did it,
no deep meaning, he just did....so what is his
defect...what is he missing in his life...

By the way, he can't be all that bad, in one of the pics out there he is sitting on a sofa
with the family's 2 cats next to him...

Carol said...

Coreen, I heard from a friend that he fessed up. I have absolutely no idea why he did something so stupid.

I thought he was so smart and neat. Now I think he's a total idiot. Would he think that someone wouldn't leak this all over, in these super multi-media days?

I saw only one pic that showed just an underwear shot with the outline of an erect penis. Did any of the others identify the wearer of the underwear??

When he was first asked if he did it, I thought he was being very evasive.

Carol said...

Coreen, I think his behavior would qualify as a form of exhibitionism. Were they just provocative shots in underwear or was there any skin in the pics? And was he selling underwear? Maybe he gets big contributions from Fruit of the Loom.

Carol said...

There have been thunderstorms all around but none over me. I'm begging for some rain here. The surrounding showers has cooled it off. 78 instead of over 100.

Carol said...

I find those type of underwear shots very provacative, but in a magazine not something you want to see from a government official.

Carol said...

And Coreen, they are always warning kids/young people to be careful what they text or put on these social media sites???

Anonymous said...

Which still makes me wonder what in the h*ll are these guys thinking of...is it the idea of oh I can get away with anything cause I'm a big deal...

I will never get it...they are really dumb...& then when they are caught, today they will always get caught...their first instinct is to
lie their way out...& we all know what happens
then...

like I said a true schumuck...in all meanings of the word...

as far as the risqueness of the pics..beyond
the bare chest ons, there apparently is at least one that is described as very graphic..,
& there are a slew of text messages of some
pretty raunchy comments between him & at least
one of the women...

And sorry about your weather...& it seems that
it may be heading my way...hot & steamy for the
rest of the week...

Carol said...

Still following the CA case. Today's forensics were a little more interesting but still slow and tedious. They are presenting the stench of death forensics.

I have a question Coreen. I think in the indictment they list 1st degree murder then next aggravated manslaughter. If the jury doesn't go for 1st, are they only left with the aggravated manslaughter? Or can they drop it to 2nd if it is not listed in the indictment?

jan said...

Carol, bought a "people" magazine today with caylee A. on front thinking there would be more info on the case. No such luck. Nothing more than what you told me. Oh well, some pure fun reading before sleep.

jan said...

We have the smoke debris here in Alb really bad tonight. The sun was a red ball in the sky tonight - surely a result of the smoke. We have air quality warnings until Thurs. Not recommending doing anything outside that is not necessary. A good time to use the indoor workout equipment.

Anonymous said...

Usually the charge of murder includes lesser
included offenses, such as degrees of murder & manslaughter...

Would seem likely that is the case in Florida,
& haven't the discussions said that it may be aggravated manslaughter of a child by some
negligent act...with the death penalty available if aggravating circumstances are
involved...

All contingent on the state meeting its burden
to prove each & every element of the crimes charged beyond a reasonable doubt...

Anonymous said...

Here's an Ask the Judge Q&A about the case Carol...Scroll down a few questions & he says there are lesser included offenses that will
be part of the verdict forms...
Ask the Judge

Carol said...

Thanks Coreen. Found what I wanted there. I couldn't go for 1st, at least not at this time. I don't think there was any significant planning involved in the murder. I even wonder if she might have forgotten that she had the child's body in her car. She may have gone into an instant denial mode after it happened. I also think this girl creates her reality as she goes but I'm seeing that same phenomena in a lot of people these days.

Carol said...

I was very impressed with the decomposition expert. He was able to present his material so that most people could understand it.

Carol said...

Coreen, 94 predicted for you tomorrow. Add about 7-8 degrees and triple the humidity and you can immagine how we feel down here.

jan said...

We can see some blue sky this morning. It is cool - so sitting out on porch despite warnings of air quality.

jan said...

I am not convinced Casey killed her daughter. Maybe it is my own defense mechanism that I don't want to believe it. I have a good friend here who went thru the nursing PhD program here and did her research on women who killed their children. She spent many hours talking with the women in prison here, in Colo and in Arizona in jail for murdering their kids. From her research, there were 2 categories - one group who were drug users and the other group who she felt had a "break with reality" She taught after finishing her degree but has gone back to a small community to practice (she is a NP) and I have lost touch with her.

jan said...

Carol, we had Terry over for lunch yesterday. He has essentially raised 6 kids, 3 from his first marriage, 2 stepchildren in current marriage and a 9 year old in current marriage. His oldest 2 are 30 and 29 and they are having babies. Two of Terry's kids (his 22 y/o and her 18 y/o) just moved out of their house into apartments of their own. So now it is just he and his wife and the 9 y/o at home. He is doing great with it. His wife works for attorneys and is going back to school. She has 2 years to complete a bacc degree and she plans to go to law school.

jan said...

Back to work today.

Carol said...

Jan, it's obvious you haven't heard much of this case if you think she didn't kill her daughter. Even not many people who come on those TV programs, who are defense attorneys and are usually pulling for the defense, think she didn't kill her daughter. The few that do say they think she's innocent are really stretching.

I don't think anyone would want to believe that someone could kill their own child but it does happen and more often than we realize.

Carol said...

Jan, it's pretty obvious that even her mamma thought she killed the child when she first heard that the child was missing for 31 days and the car smelled like it had had a dead body in it. She's the one who called 911 and wanted her daughter arrested initially.

After a while, mom either went into denial mode or just felt the need to protect her daughter from the death penalty.

The body of that dead child had to be in the trunk of that car for a little while, while she's driving it around. Someone disposes of the body and then it stinks so bad that she abandoned the vehicle next to a dumpster.

From the day the child allegedly died, she went into party mode and never mentioned to a single soul that her child was missing. Those are just a few of the facts mame.

The only defense offered so far is that her dad molested her and that her dad found the child drowned in the pool. I can buy the molestation since it is so common but would an ex cop stuff her dead child in her trunk and let her ride around with it??? Kinda hard to swallow that one.

Carol said...

Jan, I just heard that Issues with Jane, on Headline News will be analyzing the relationship between Casey and her mom tonight. There were definitely some issues there.

It's on at 6p here but not sure what time it might be on in your area, maybe 7. I tape "In Sessons" on Tru TV and all day of Headline News everyday since the trial is pretty much covered from about 10a until about 10p at HLN.

Carol said...

I just found this website, ID Investigation Discovery that has all these Casey Anthony case legal files on it. Those are really interesting. I just read an interview done by the police of her friend Amy and her boyfriend Tony. Seems I learned more there than I did watching the trial so far. I didn't hear a lot of that in the testimony so maybe they plan to recall these people later.

This is the site if anyone is interested. I doubt any of you guys are as into this as I am.

http://investigation.discovery.com/blogs/criminal-report/casey_anthony_full_coverage/files/caylee_anthony_files.html

Casey was staying with both Amy and Tony right after her child went missing. Neither knew that her child was missing. She told them Caylee was with the nanny. They never noticed a thing different about Casey's behavior.

Casey's mom found Amy's number and called her to see if she knew where her daughter was. She ended up picking Amy up at a mall in Florida and Amy brought her to Tony's house where Casey was staying. That was her mom's first physical contact with her daughter in a month.

Amy got an ear full from her mother on that ride. Casey and her mother did not have a good relationship. Casey took money from her parents, her grandparents and lied all the time. That short conversation was very revealing! Jan, Casey is a psycho/sociopath, thru and thru.

Carol said...

I've been doing a little pondering on this teeter twitter situation with Rep Weiner. He's really disappointed me. While listening to Dr Drew discuss it, I'm thinking that the Internet and all this new social media does provide a lot of temptations for men and I guess women also. I was wondering if he may have thought that acting out his sexual fantasies this way was better than a actually physically cheating on his wife. I just can't understand why these guys don't realize it will all eventually come out and ruin them.

jan said...

I "hear" you Carol. You are right, I have not been following the trial. So much has passed with the trial that it would be too much to catch up. While in the NC mts we did not have TV or newspapers and so busy with classes I only tuned in my computer to the blog and my e-mail.

jan said...

worked all day today so still did not have time to read up on trial. I am trying to catch up on all the developmental screenings with kiddos.

We have had so much wind this spring. I do not remember a spring like this. We have privacy fencing all the way around our back yard that is concrete blocks. The previous owners had put a small piece of some white heavy plastic fencing between the garage and house and some of it broke and blew down 2 nights ago. John and I got some wire at Home Depot and did some wiring of the fencing as a temp fix. We will have to investigate some new fencing, but this will buy us a little time.

Oh that's great Jan. I hope your sister is as impressed as I am with this technology. Everyday, I continue to be impressed. I'm still like a kid in a candy shop. So much info and so little time.

Jan, Terry has had quite a crew to raise. He was blessed with a great mom, and stepdad. And with some dang good genes. But even with all of that, things can go wrong. He must have been a wonderful dad and he also had a lot of luck going with him,

Carol said...

It's so scary to think of all that can go wrong and you end up with the kind of peeps I see everyday.

I've seen what I would consider great parents with rotten kids and rotten parents with good kids. You just never know.

I just can't imagine how horrible it must be for the Anthony grandparents of that beautiful child. Cindy Anthony is a nurse also.

Carol said...

Chloe, I hope everything is OK with you. It's worrisome when one of our fly goes AWOL. We have such a small fly here.

No problem if anyone needs a break but I just don't want it to be because they are sick or have some other crisis going on. Whatever the reason, my prayers are with you. Hope it's a nice vacation.

Carol said...

Coreen, you have a high of 94 predicted for tomorrow. Do you think you'll hit it? Also possibility of thunderstorms. Might want to wish for one of those coolers.

We had a couple of days of 30% chance of rain and I got nada. I watched that radar and tried to move those clouds over my area with my mind. Didn't work. Maggie might be countering my actions.

Carol said...

Coreen, I see in the MLB standings that your Yanks are leading the pack. That's good.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Carol, the hot weather got here today...low 90s & humid....with more tomorrow...

Are you taking a break from the trial coverage...

The Weiner fiasco is still in the NY news...they announced that his wife Huma (Hillary's assistant) is having a baby...& looks like prominent democrats are now calling
for him to resign, together with the release
of the 'x' rated pic of well his weiner by Opie & Anthony sirius/xm radio hosts...

Americas got talent is on..a knife throwing act
with guns too...so far I haven't seen any standout act...oh they are going to Vegas!!!

Jan, I saw some of the Voice acts...those I saw were very good singers, though I don't know
what the show's object is...

Not a happy camper tonight...the yanks are losing to the hated red sox 7 - 4, top of 6th
& the bases are loaded with red sox!!!& they
lost to them last night...I loath the red sox...

Carol said...

LOL Coreen. I'll have to confess that I did try to find Weiner's weiner but it has been taken down. OK, I'm not that innocent. I was just wanting to see for myself if it was as fine as he thinks it is.

Carol said...

Just from a medical prospective, of course.

Carol said...

I've seen quite a repertoire of weiners so I can judge.

You mean its gone already!!! I didn't know that...

And no Coreen, I'm still glued to the trial coverage. If one of the jurors drops out, I'm ready to step in.

I never get to do jury duty. I've only been called once but my employer sent in a lettet that they couldn't do without me. Hey, I coulda done without them.

Anonymous said...

Funny where I come from, we don't want to do
jury duty...I have had to sit in the court
several times, never got picked, but stayed
there all day...

Really not intrigued with watching this trial, or for that matter any trial...I've seen enough
over the years in Court....

the couple of days I tried to watch the recaps
it seemed that it was all just repeating the
same clips over & over, with the talking heads
saying the same thing...I lost interest very
quickly...

Years ago attorneys were exempt from jury duty,
but then they changed the law & included just about everyone, even judges can be called now....

Carol said...

I wish people would all start to realize that our cellphones and computers track all of our technological behavior. If you have a satelitte, it probably tracks everything you watch on TV. There is no privacy!

I think our cell records go to some building somewhere for storage and even if we erase what is on our computeres, it stays there until some other data overwrites it. Then you would have to be using most of your memory and that's hard to do with todays computers.

Coreen, I hate to watch medical programs on TV. I get enough of that stuff with my job. But I love the law and criminology. I watch a lot of those true crime and forensic programs on Tru TV, Discovery ID, etc.

And every now and again you get one of those sweet little miracles. Just heard on the HLN news that this tiny bird and her nest survived a tornado that demolished the tree it was in and the house that was next to the tree. The nest ended up landing on a motorcycle. Mamma bird laid her eggs in it and is now sitting on them. Life just doesn't always make sense..does it?

I haven't even been checking in on the blogs (actually haven't even been on the computer except to read headlines most days, if that), but decided to take a quick peek here and at TM this morning. I can't be here long enough to catch up on the posts or comments -- though I checked enough to see you are all doing well -- I am happy for that.

Thanks for the link, Carol. To be honest, the following quote is the only thing in it that I completely agreed with, the rest just looked like so much mumble-jumble to me -- it's meaning lost in way too many words (but just the same, I enjoyed reading it, and I do appreciate you linking it.

"But the fact that our choices depend on prior causes does not mean that they do not matter. If I had not decided to write my last book, it wouldn't have written itself. My choice to write it was unquestionably the primary cause of its coming into being. Decisions, intentions, efforts, goals, willpower, etc., are causal states of the brain, leading to specific behaviors, and behaviors lead to outcomes in the world. Human choice, therefore, is as important as fanciers of free will believe. And to "just sit back and see what happens" is itself a choice that will produce its own consequences".

... oh, and ran across this earlier Carol:

Had you seen it? I'm not sure what to make of it.

The thing that made me feel like saying anything at all today started with a post that Bowmanc made over at TM (I've always liked him). It was hard for me not to yell: Hear, hear!! or something to that effect about him comments, but I knew I'd just aggravate someone over there, and I'm not interesting in annoying anyone, even if it's only by pointing out the obvious. So I kept my mouth shut, and admired what he wrote and the heartfelt way he said it. http://blogs.cqrollcall.com/trailmix/2011/06/wiener-watch.html#comment-338216

Oh! And TIR said this, and I think it is so funny (and probably true for me too).

"My short term memory sucks, so I'll be able to tell you what you said yesterday come next year or so."

It was so good to see a couple of people there (TM) that refuse to fit into the pattern that one is expected to fit into there (unless they enjoy being bombasted and ridiculed in the worst possible way).

People do love to surround themselves by like minded people -- if only they knew how much they are missing out on by doing that.

As 'forever' though, I do believe in free choice and am constantly trying to avoid being so judgmental. I'll be the first to admit that I have way too many opinions myself.

If I ever decide to participate in any kind of blogging (on a regular basis) again, I think I'll use the name 'Nemo' (I'm not kidding about this -- I've already created an email for it.

I saw the name used in a period movie I watched, and it simply means 'no body or no one'.

I was taken by it. Don't take my wanting to be know as 'no one' as a sign of depression or anything. To the contrary, it just seems like a natural evolution for me. Plus, I see humor in almost everything -- at least everything that is 'off center'.

ROFLMAO!!

"* The ethics panel will grill Weiner.

* Are there any photos of his buns?

* He does not relish the prospect.

* His wife is being chili.

* This story has more layers than an onion.

* He has not mustard up enough courage to resign."

Hi Chloe, glad to know you are OK. I understand that you are very busy.

I don't think there is much to that marketing link. I think they are trying to sell a product. Wow, we are ranked 20 millionth. Out of how many? Can't be too many more blogs than that.

Hey, that article I linked for you was too deep for me. I only read something like that if I absolutely have to.

I was looking at the crime scene photos online and in one pic there were three very clear and distinct orbs. These are police photos.

I finally caught a very nice rain today, an inch. Along with the rain was some high winds that knocked over one of my tomatos, my cucumber and all the chairs. My friend, 20 miles down the road, didn't get a drop.

Jan..do you have some vacation pics??

I have my Lappy 1 back home. My geek did not get a chance to fix her after a month. He has a new job..not where I work anymore and has lots of computers to work on. I decided to just get her back.

When I turned her on..Windows took forever to come up. That's was what was wrong when I sent her to be fixed. I had left her on all night one night and the next morning..the virus protection was turned off and wouldn't turn back on. The Windows program was nuts.

When I got her home I decided to try to restore her to a time prior to when that all started. I did that with my new laptop when it started acting up after downloading this game. It worked on that one. After I did the restore..she was back to normal again. My comma still doesn't work but that's due to that key that sticks.

It's nice to have a computer in my bedroom again. Not sure how long she will last.

Oh..and several pics they have shown on TV this evening of the Caylee crime scene have one orb in them. You may not notice if you aren't looking for them.

Interesting. Maybe little Caylee was waiting for someone to find her. What's also interesting is that they are daytime photos.

Coreen, is exposing bare genitals on the Net..a public site.. a crime? If not..it should be. We've been making fun of Weiner but his behavior is deviant. I hope we aren't establishing some new social mores with all this kind of stuff.

Someone should come up with a new app for cell phones and computers that pops up a screen when the user does something stupid like this. It could say...ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS...HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE CONSEQUENCES??

Jan and Coreen...have any new pics you can put up? Jan..you should have some more vac pics and Coreen..we have not seen your flower garden yet.
