2012, the end?

We have discussed lately, how we get hints from the Universe about what we should do or not do. Some of us try to pay attention. I mentioned that I thought that those hints keep getting rougher until we do pay attention? I think the entire world has been getting some really big, rough hints lately, hints that we all need to wake up and smell the coffee, before it's too late. Oh, that wasn't a good metaphor this morning since I can't have any and it's one of the reasons that I have put off having my blood drawn for that lab work.

Most of the hints we have been getting lately have involved making us pay attention to all the greed/gluttony that is going on in the world and just how destructive that is. The other hint seems to be pointing to the need to find safer energy sources. I think that even the most inattentive of us should be seeing the light by now.

If 2012 isn't going to be the end of the world, it certainly must be the end of our old way of thinking and doing business. If we don't make any changes, after seeing and experiencing all these huge hints we are getting, we just very well might self-destruct. No shit!

And almost all of this mess can be traced back to our government. The ones we elect to protect us.

Carol, you are up mighty early. So glad you are in less pain and some of the swelling is down.

I woke at 4 am. Sometimes when I wake that early I just lay there and try to go back to sleep. I have so much on my mind today I decided to go ahead and get up. I have some skin dryness and itching. I think it is probably stress. I took an antihistamine - that usually helps a lot. This has been going on for some time. I have a routine medical appt and I think I will ask to get a referral to a dermatologist. I use the mildest detergent there is to wash clothes so I don't think it is that.

Carol said...

Jan, there are two things that will contribute to the dry skin and dry skin does itch alot.

Two things are aging and humidity. Isn't your humidity there very low?

jan said...

Carol, yes - we are a high desert. Our humidity is usually between 7-20. I carry a water bottle with me all the time to remind me to drink. We have been here 7 years and usually one acclimates to the humidity but my dry skin problem is worse than ever. It is probably aging.

jan said...

I have probably contributed to the problem with swimming several days this week too. I love hot water baths as well and last week we did those hot mineral water baths in Pagosa Springs. So, I guess its no wonder my skin is dry and itchy.

Carol said...

Yes Jan, those are also two very significant things. Hot water is horrible for the skin. Swimming just kills me. I used to get out of my pool feeling like I had bees on me. Do they use chlorine? I've heard that the salt systems, not salty water, makes your skin feel great. Several people have told me that.

Carol said...

I can't wait to get some coffee after my blood is drawn and before the tooth extraction. Will have to drink it fast.

With all those factors Jan, I wonder if you would be wasting your money on a Dermatologist. Need a mega moisturizer.

My pool is still filling but should be close today. The new system is in but hasn't been started yet.

My Dentist said that after my tooth extraction I should lay very low so I don't get a dry socket. I got 4 after my wisdom teeth were removed and I think I had one with that other extraction. That ought to make for a fun weekend.

Coreen said...

Carol,

Hope both of your procedures are as painless as possible today...I don't like blood tests, have to close my eyes, even though it really doesn't hurt... & you're going reminded me I forgot to go for mine...my doctor's request is in my checkbook....

Carol said...

All done and it wasn't bad at all, at least not yet. He was good with the tooth extraction. I barely noticed the tugging. I think the last Dentist was standing in my lap, pulling. The Dentist makes all the difference in the world. He told me it all depends on using the proper tools. Getting the tooth out should be a finesse thing and not a power thing.

Orders to lay low for the weekend. That better include grocery shopping and washing clothes cuz Maggie won't do it.

Chloe, when I find old posts that I missed, I always worry that someone may think I'm ignoring them also. I never have ignored anyone here even though I will have to admit I sometimes did it on TM. Not often there either unless the post got too long and complex for my attention span.

Carol said...

Obama is calling it ridiculous that all three of the companies involved with that oil drilling platform pointing the finger of blame at one another for this spill. It really isn't that ridiculous, they are probably all at fault and they are each providing the evidence for the other's involvement. And they should all three pay for it. It will probably take much of their collective worth to cover the cost. Another hint from the Universe, if you're going to be wreckless, you will pay the price. Their chickens have come home to roost.

Coreen said...

Carol, seems it all worked out really well...

Hope the recovery time goes equally well...

Coreen said...

By the way, I finally sent a pic to TM, did you
send any, what about everyone else?

Coreen said...

About that pool of yours....once it is cleaned,
refilled & started, are you going to try to
get your exercise by regular swimming...& does
Mary find the time to use it...

Is the guy getting it ready going to keep it up or is that an added regular chore to your
list...

Carol said...

Coreen, the pool is filled and the pump is running. It has a few leaves in it but the guy will be back to do some vacuuming and final cleaning. He will be doing the pool maintenance.

Carol said...

Mary doesn't get out this way very often. I will try to make myself do some swimming, especially when my older sister gets here.
She may spend most of June here so it should get a workout.

Carol said...

I'm kinda getting hungry. The Dentist said to stick to things that can't get in the hole today so all I've had is a little juice. I guess it will be a juice fast today. Might end up dropping a pound. Maybe this evening I'll try a baked potato.

Carol said...

Yes Coreen, I did send a pic of little Vertigo. I told him it was OK if he didn't want to include it.

Coreen said...

Thought Mary was closer by...Also did not realize your other sister was going to be there
for awhile...I think that's great for all of you...

I can see you are going to be getting real
exercise with that pool, a much nicer way to
'exercise' & most effective as well.... & think it wise thatthe 'guy' is going to keep it up, since I know that around here, those I know with a pool find the upkeep a drag...plus here only get at most 3 months tops use...

By the way the cold, rainy weather left this p.m., supposed to be in the low 70s for a couple of days...we'll see if they are right...

Coreen said...

Here's something I read the other day about
Arizona & New Mexico & the different effect
of illegal immigration....seems NM may be a
'sanctuary state', if not already...likely as
more of the Arizona illegals move on....(the graphic in the article gives a brief comparison
of the differences)

Side by side, but divided over immigration

Carol said...

Just went to check the pool and feed the Fiddler. The pool is not perfectly sparkling yet but on it's way. I'm not sure he has even put the salt in yet. He has to wait until all the other levels are perfect. It still does require some other chemicals.

Coreen, I heard on NPR this morning that Albuquerque will only check immigration status when someone is arrested. Will check everyone's status, no profiling, and it will be done by ICE. They will have an office in the jail. So if you stay out of trouble, you don't get checked. I think that is fair.

jan said...

Carol, from your comments it sounds like you are feeling ok. Do you have any pain? I hope this is over for you. Soup is good. I love soup. Something warm will be better than something cold for you.

NM and Arizona are very different politically. One of our governor's parents was Mexican. He is also a democrat. Arizona is more republican. A lot of retirees in Arizona. Our governor was not happy with the new law in Arizona about stopping people because they might "look like" an illegal alien.

jan said...

Your pool sounds like is is going to be great for swimming. Your sis should enjoy it. I am happy for you that she will be staying longer.

Carol said...

Every time I see that oil gushing out of that pipe, it hurts my heart. I just can't believe, with all the money they have had in the oil industry, that they didn't have a better plan for what to do in case of this kind of accident.

It turns out that a tooth problem has been a pretty effective weight loss program. I wouldn't recommend it though.

What practically made me practically double over in pain was when those first six dead dolphins washed up on shore the other day. That visual was all I needed to completely take in what a truly horrible catastrophe this is.

Carol said...

We are going to have a rainy day today and that, this year, is unusual. I think we are about 8+ inches behind in rainfall totals. I'm not complaining too much since it has cut down how often I have to mow.

Anonymous said...

Sure am glad that you're feeling better Carol.

... also, that you've got your pool in shape, and expecting a long visit from your sister next month.

Gotta love summer.

Carol said...

Are you also behind in rainfall this year? I guess you probably are.

"f we don't make any changes, after seeing and experiencing all these huge hints we are getting, we just very well might self-destruct."

I'm starting to realize more and more that our mass thinking is continually and methodically controlled by those in power. Controlling the majority of peoples thinking is pretty much down to a science now. They've got all the tools in place (media, etc.) - they tell us in constant polls exactly what we should be and 'are' thinking. It's gotten to the point where it's impossible to tell what's real and what's fabricated.

Therefore, I don't pay much attention. Since I've been taking that attitude, my personal life has been running much more efficiently and I'm closer to accomplishing the things I want to accomplish.

... at least this way, I have some feeling of control (and peace).

Anonymous said...

Carol, Yes... we've been way behind in rain fall. But you and I have almost identical weather at times.

We had a real downpour late yesterday and into the night though. Did you?

We have like a 30 or 40% chance of rain today through tomorrow, then a chance of rain the rest of the week.

It's most welcome.

Carol said...

Yep Chloe, we caught a rain last night and have about a 50% chance for the next two days or so.

We, are some of the few, that did pay attention Chloe. When I ask at work, they have no idea what is going on in the world or country. Most take the position of, what they don't know won't hurt them. We, also, have had to adopt a little of that attitude to survive. Of course, it is not in our nature to totally tune out but it is good that we cut down considerably, balance it.

I do want those in power to know that we are still watching and we are not happy and we do plan to use our votes to tell them that.

Carol said...

This morning I went out and hooked up a couple of jug lines to a rope. I tied the rope on the wharf. I baited each jug line with some freeze dried weinies, those that have been in the freezer too long. Just playing. Makes me feel like a kid again. It's fun to play.

Anonymous said...

Ha Carol. It is fun to play - keeps you young.

Carol said...

The fish kept snagging my weinies because
they were too soft so I microwaved
them. Seems they don't care for microwaved meat either.

I notice that overcast isn't depressing to me in the spring and summer. Everything's fine, as long as I warm, and it's so green out that it looks even more beautiful. I have never seen the tree's and vine's - green everything - any more thick and plush than it is this year.

I can almost forget there is a world outside my little tree barrier, and all I can hear is bird chirping. Life is good.

Anonymous said...

Microwaving them makes them rubbery.

Anonymous said...

.. you tryin' to catch dinner?

Carol said...

Checking out for some catfish Chloe. They usually like anything. And I was going for rubbery. It hangs on the hook longer.

Carol said...

High period starts around noonish. I wonder if the fish know that?

Carol said...

Coreen, do you have a new post waiting in the wings?? If so, let her rip sister.

Carol said...

And how are your Yanks doing??

Carol said...

Well, I'm off to do my Saturday morning chores. Ugh.

When I first saw the headline, I mistakenly assumed it was a teen boy who made this sail around the world - but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a petite looking female (and this was her her first steps on land in 210 days). Girl Power!!

Australian teen completes round-the-world sail
"A 16-year-old Australian who spent seven months at sea in her pink yacht sailed across the finish line of her round-the-world journey Saturday, becoming the youngest sailor to circle the globe solo, nonstop and unassisted.

Thousands of spectators erupted into cheers as Jessica Watson sailed into Sydney Harbour, the finale to an epic adventure in which she battled 40-foot (12-meter) waves, homesickness and critics who said she'd never make it home alive.

"She said she'd sail around the world, and she has," a tearful Julie Watson said as she watched her grinning daughter cruise past the finish line from a nearby boat. "She's home.""

Bird alert. I just saw the most colorful bird I have ever seen here. It had a red head and yellow neck. I have not seen one like this here before. Any ideas what it was? We don't have many colorful birds here

OK, I think I it was a western tanager. It is still out in our big tree in the front. I will try to get a picture.

Solar, Hellllllp

I need a good diet and workout plan so I can gain weight and I want it all to go to my butt and legs. Do you have any suggestions??

Carol said...

"Like water off a duck's back". I saw that today and it's true, it rolls right off. They don't mind the rain either. Good thing cuz it's pouring.

Jan, if you didn't get your bird identified, you may have to wait for our resident bird expert to come home, to the Swamp that is.

Just got back from doing my weekend rounds/chores. My pool guy and his girl friend were working on the pool. His girlfriend is also one of my nurses. That makes it nice. I think I will have a couple more friends, and friends that like to do some of the things I like to do. I have friends but no one to play with.

Oh, and I did buy some Blue Bell, the no sugar, low fat vanilla. I tried a Breyers brand because it beat Blue Bell by having 10 less calories per serving. It also had 50% less taste.

I'm still eating soft stuff and I'm tired of baked potatoes. Good excuse for the ice cream. I'm not crazy about soup Jan, unless it is the homemade hearty variety with chewy stuff in it.

And this morning I hit my goal weight. That liquid diet for two days did it. Only thing is, I still have that blubber around my waist. Huh.

Don't brag Mary.

Chloe, this is the year of the WOMAN. Hear me roar. Hip, hip, hooray!

Carol said...

It's lightening and thundering and I had Maggie covered up on the couch next to me but the phone rang and I got up and walked away. She dissappeared. I thought I knew all of her crawl spaces but I couldn't find her in any of them. I got really nervous, thought she had spontaneously combusted. Nope, I found another crawl space. I think she prepares for a tornado every time it thunders.

Carol said...

I just found something interesting on Link TV Solar. Title, "Orwell Rolls In His Grave". About truth and the media. You like that channel, don't you?

Carol said...

Chloe, it talks about some of the things we have often pondered here, like who controls the media and are they telling us what they want us to believe? If anyone is interested, it re-airs several times.

Special: Orwell Rolls in His Grave

Carol said...

I tuned in late so I will have to watch it again at a later date.

Carol said...

Lots to ponder from this program folks! It's probably why C2C seems to have things on that program days or weeks or years before the MSM has them. They probably get by with it because the power elite think that no one will take C2C too seriously since they cover strange things like ghost, UFOs and the like.

Carol said...

Something else in the news to gasp at:

Secretive Speed Traders In Spotlight After Flash Crash On Wall Street

When I puruse the news online, I gasp so often that I hyperventilate.

Anonymous said...

"Can a media system controlled by just a few corporations really deliver on the promise of the First Amendment? Or is this just the beginning of an Orwellian nightmare where lies can become truth?"

Yep, that was exactly what I was thinking the other day when I realized (even more clearly than usual) just how brainwashed we are Carol. Repeating whatever they want us to believe over and over and over works eventually, at least with a lot of people. Like Jack (TM) is fond of saying: Perception is Reality.

I'm going to continue on my quest for the truth though, and tune them out.

Anonymous said...

... btw, I'm not going over to TM anymore. I had the worst feeling last time I was there (over a week ago). Some of the things that were said... well I suddenly realized with complete clarity, that at times when I was there I felt like I was visiting hell.

I'm trying to remember that quote that Sturge quoted once.

... ok, found it (although this is a little longer version):

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.

And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
Friedrich Nietzsche

Anonymous said...

... sorry to have said that with such brutal honesty, and I truly meant no ill feelings toward those people that participate over there - but those words I said created a perfect visual of what I felt. On the spot I made a decision to never go back.

Anonymous said...

"Lots to ponder from this program folks! It's probably why C2C seems to have things on that program days or weeks or years before the MSM has them."

You've found a source for truth Carol.
And the reason they discuss those other things, is because they aren't filtering information the way the MSM does. They talk about about what people are talking about. They give their audience some credit for being intelligent.

Anonymous said...

"When I puruse the news online, I gasp so often that I hyperventilate."

... at least you can read the headline, and move on. It's surprising how much information you can get from a headline.

Anonymous said...

Carol, We've got a star from the 'real' Washington (DC) now! Isn't this the first time?

Anonymous said...

... and Richmond. Isn't that where the FBI is?

Uh, oh. They're coming after me. Ha! I'd better keep my big mouth shut and lay low for a while.

Carol said...

Love that quote Chloe and I could have used it long ago. It would have made what I often tell my patient/peeps at work much easier. I have been gropping my way thru an explanation when your's is so nice and neat.

I have fought many monsters over the years and yes, I have often become a monster in the process. It took years for me to see the light. Maybe finally last year, LOL Sometimes I still slip up.

I've tried to explain it like this....it is OK to get angry when you see an injustice but if all people see is your anger then you have lost what you are trying to accomplish. That was me and I didn't recognize it until I saw that in someone else I admired. She fought so many dragons and was so angry and no one gave her any credit for what she accomplished, they just saw her as angry.

That is a great ponder for this morning Chloe. A great Sunday school lesson.

Carol said...

I sometimes wonder if you guys are real or are you just my conscience talking to me?? It is something I have pondered.

Anonymous said...

"Sometimes I still slip up."

Me too Carol. That's why I have to keep reminding myself of these things that I believe to be true. I don't want to give up.

"it is OK to get angry when you see an injustice"

Absolutely Carol!
I used to be angry all the time. And like you say, no one takes you seriously after a while.

Thanks for turning my ranting into something positive. Not many people can do that.

Carol said...

And I have also pondered if we are being watched also Chloe. Interesting little stars out there. But we do represent some intelligent people and people who care about our country and fellow man. Let them watch us. Let them learn what good people are thinking. I welcome them with open arms.

Chloe, Sometime stepping back & just observing things around are just as helpful & insightful...not always necessary to jump into the fray, especially when group think takes on a life of its own...

Carol said...

Hey Chloe, what's that Washington right under Richmond??

Carol said...

And Chloe, I do think that some of the power elite do monitor blogs to see what people are thinking. They need to know in order to decide how to manipulate us. The media needs to know what people are interested in so they can decide what to feed us.

Carol said...

Oh, and we also care about our fellow critters. This morning I got up late and Maggie reached up and got her little harness off the place I had it and carried it in the living room, like she might find some other idiot to get up and take her out. She still hasn't learned how to put it on herself.

Carol said...

It is great that we have places like PBS and Link and others that aren't totally financed by corporations. We need to send our donations to keep them going. It is the only chance we have of getting to the truth. We need people channels. We could also use a people newspaper. One totally financed by people except for ads. One that covers important stuff and on the front page not buried in the back.

Carol said...

I also worry that one day they may censor the Internet. It's OK by me if they censor out the porn but they seem to enjoy having that little bait out there to snag dummies who think they are talking to some sweet young thing instead of a big burley cop.

Carol said...

And Chloe, Keith O needs to learn what we have learned. At first I liked some of his anger and then he got carried away with it and it was a turn off.

He is now ranting about Sarah, saw it on HP, and bitching about how she mocked Rachel. He mocks people all the time, especially Sarah. He gives her meaning and he doesn't realize it....or does he??

Carol said...

I still like to check in with Craig's blog. He is a good guy and we must support good guys since there aren't many of them left. I was so proud of him for standing up to MSNBC, for not allowing them to use him.

Anonymous said...

I used to like Keith too Carol - until he started in against the Clinton's.

The FBI is in Quantico, Virginia (which is about an hour and a half north of Richmond) - I just looked it up. http://www.fbi.gov/hq/td/academy/academy.htm

I don't know about that Washington - is it the wrong one again? Coreen probably knows that map a lot better than I do.

I just had something hit one of my kitchen windows. Thought it was a bird and it was, a prothonatary Warbler. It is still sitting upright so it must just be stunned.

I came home one day and two of the same bird were dead on that deck. It scared me, I thought that maybe I had the bird flu out there. I repressed it and didn't mention it. Why are they running into that window? It's not one that looks like you can fly throught it like the one in my living room. I have kept a few little Christmas bird decals up to warn them in that room.

OK, it's now fish 4-5 and Carol zip. I baited the two jug lines, that I have attached to a rope, with weinies. They kept taking the weinies, even the microwaved rubbery ones.

I was catching some small brim in my crab trap. I got that crab trap a long time ago when I hung out with a friend who had a camp down on a large salt water lake. Crabs are salt water creatures even though I have occasionally caught a disoriented one here.

Catfish like fish so I cut up one of my small brim and used it to bait my jug lines. Still the fish got away, one even took the hook off. Yesterday I got some chicken livers and this morning I am trying those. It's a challenge.

Carol,

Just catching up. I only have had a little time to read some of the post from time to time...glad that it was not your front tooth...u have a nice smile.!!

Glad that U have found that LINK tv channel..it is very interesting imo...and the music that they show from around the world......I give it a....10.....easy to listen to, and we can dance to it...wanna ...?

Carol, after reading to other news sources from other country's and tuning in on that Link I feel very well informed...they are way ahead of what is reported here.....

Chloe,

Yes we are being manipulated all of the time...all of our habits are recorded by the powers of the large corps.....and our government...that's why I don't give any info out.....once again, I think that all of our biggest problems have all been planned out.....it started when the already large corps....were allowed to merge, buy outs, take overs etc....now the to big to fail is the latest thing that they sold us on....I don't think that we had to bail out anyone....not less than one year later they all are reporting large profits....

Over at tm they keep trying to shoot me down when I say that we need a flat income tax, and a flat tax, and to tweak it so it does not hurt the poor......Jamie especially like the progressive tax....just like anything else...any laws...they are in need of looking at, and redoing them....the "GREEDY" crooks of our government know them inside and out...and take advantage of us when we argue about the Rich, and the Poor....one can tune in on an argument about this..and nothing will be said differently...still arguing about the welfare queen, and the Rich kings......

Carol said...

Thanks Solar for taking the time to drop in and share you thoughts and ideas. Hope you know how much we appreciate you and them. Hope you take a little time today to relax and smell the roses. You deserve to.

Solar said...

Carol,

I can do the cave man thing from time to time as well as any other overbearing ape....but don't until im pushed into it...and that goes for the part of me that like to argue, and get a little aggressive...that has been very hard, and still is for me to change...I have had to be very aggressive most of my life, for many reasons....but when it comes for true freinds, and some family members im just a puppy, and can be manipulated, to a certain point....I like going over to tm to do some argueing about stuff....they are nice people and give as good as they get.....im to the point over at tm....that for me it is not even fighting....some of it seriouse, but also entertaining...love the way that XR, try's and sometimes does correct me in anything that I post...he does have an extreme knowledged about history...but fudges things his way.....don't we all.....

I laid a trap for him that took a little while...when I finally put some bait on the hook...he took it...just like your catfish....I fried hime a little on one side, then the other...he could not sleep, or think of anything else for 24 hrs...then he finally had to ask me....I told him while I was peeeeeing in my pants....love the way that Jack's mind works.....some with Patd'....Pogo is great when he is instructive about the law and corps...but not when he tries to make me go to HP....and U did it again.....U want aggressive.....just make me go to that joint again......

Yes Women clean up pretty well.....don't give me openings like that...a little tempting....

But one of the reasons that I know that women are the better of the two sexes, is that they do clean up after us....and other things......but they gave up being the better sex, a long, long, time ago.!!

Anthropology tells us that the reason that they gave up being the better sex is that they needed to raise agressive male children.....the more agressive the better that they ate, and were protected from the raiding groups of bands.....these traits are just one of the few that were completly controlled by the women....

They could have killed of the baby boy's and raised them to not be so dominate, aggressive, and overbearing....they could have raised them to be "sissy's" but not to fear...imo in the future you gal will have the last say....u won't have to be as physically strong in order to protect them selves...modern weapons, and technology, sciences will see to this.....

Solar said...

Carol,

Please, you don't have to thank me or anyone else for coming to the swamp....it feels just right for me...a few more men would be to my liking...but they will come in time...when they get the balls to talk to U pinks as equals.... right DON????

Carol said...

Good analysis as usual Solar. There are good
people at TM and the one's who aren't

may be a little miffed at us for bailing

Some may be glad we're gone.

I think I got close to three inches of rain yesterday and I heard on the news we are about 9 inches behind.

Time for cutting my neighbors grass. I don't think that Mary my neighbor is going to be around too much longer...last time that I saw her she was scolding me for not visiting her for a while...she said to just go and give her a little kiss on the forehead like I do...and go on my way....she asked about me daughter Judy a few times...told her that she was fine....thing is that Judy is my wife...Mary does not remember this now......

Maria......Read about u wanting to gain some weight....that is a little harder to do...believe it or not.....don't eat any bad food fats tho...dairies, and breads, cookies..etc....there are good fats.that u can eat...

Whole grain breads, Brown rice, meats at a small portions, beans, I will get some information for us to work with..but the first thing that U should do...it measure the caloric intake at the present time.....what u eat is important..but so is the amount...U will need to increase your calorie intake...to do this..U must eat six time a day.....and you will still need to exercise...for energy and for that nice looking ..........and legs that u will be getting...of course as your instructor....In order to see yr progress, I will be needing a lot of pics......:-)))

Craig does want you included in his video"...Regular commenters, irregulars, and dedicated lurkers are invited. Self-pics are preferred, but favorite pets, plants and places are OK."

I'm doing it because I trust and appreciate Craig. He is the only pundit I do trust. He hasn't sold out. He's his own man. Help me to think here. Is there any others that we can trust like we trust him??

My pool is sparking and he hasn't even added the salt yet, waiting for the other variables to be perfect. One of the problems that made it impossible for me to get it cleared up last year was that the sand in the filter was hard and clobbed up at the bottom. It was not working. I had the sand filter cleaned and new sand inserted when I did everything else.

Hi folks, Glad to see several of you are still around. I have been off " child sitting" with 17 y/o and 8 y/o granddaughters. Their parents needed a weekend away. The 2 are lots of fun. We let them pick out the restaurant for dinner last night. They picked an 'all you can eat' chinese place. It was ok, but a calorie-filled meal. 8 y/o GD worked hers off last night by staying out and playing with a couple of neighborhood kids - riding their bikes and playing different outdoor games. I, on the other hand, read and stayed in front of the tube. I did go on a long walk this morn and spent some time this afternoon on the elliptical.

Just got my Time magazine and one of your favorite gals is featured, Eliz. Warren. A good article about her and 2 other women who are trying to "clean up some of th mess" created by the financial barons of Wall Street.

Carol, I hope your pic of little owl gets included in his video.

Jan, your kid weekend sounded like fun.

Carol, Your fishing adventures sound like fun too. Have you caught anything?

We jumped at the chance to be away from our house this weekend and be with the girls. We both were feeling blue as Friday was the anniversary of Lobie's death. Friday night we went out to get away from the house. We went to a movie, Letters to Juliet. It was a sweet movie and took our minds off the anniversary. Spending time at my son's house with the girls helped a lot too. We are feeling ok tonight but I still keep waiting for Lobie to come in the kitchen when I am cooking.

Chloe, I havn't heard from you about what Emma is doing lately. Is she doing some talking now? Since you have not said anything, I assume she is completely over her little accident.

Solar, I completely agree with your suggestions to Mary about putting some weight on. I have never had a problem putting weight on in the legs and b..t. In my lifetime I have done a lot of skating, skiing, bike riding and swimming. My legs are very strong and muscular. I am thankful for that.

Mary, I do want to recommend any of these activities for building up the muscle tone in your legs. Do you have access to a bike of any kind?

jan said...

Mary, if you can get out to Carol's pool or any pool a good exercise for the muscles in your derierre (an old fashioned word for buttocks) is to use a kickboard and keeping your legs straight but doing some bending at the knee, this will strengthen and build the muscles in your butt and back of your thighs.

No Jan, I did not get any catfish. Right around the camp is not good catfish territory even though I have caught some here. Now, right across the river is but I would have had to go out in the boat. I do have lots of brim here but eating them is too much work. I have some fish frozen but I was mainly enjoying the game.

I haven't checked the pool temp but I bet it is still a little cool for my taste. It should be warming up soon.

Carol, How is your mouth feeling now?

jan said...

I would like to know if that salt method for your pool is better for your skin.

jan said...

Do you have a system that warms the pool or do you put hot water into the pool?

Carol said...

No Jan, it's regular old hose water when it goes in but after a while in the hot Louisiana sun, it warms up. In August, the water can get up to 92 or so and it's like swimming in a bathtub. That's not refreshing on a hot day.

I wouldn't want to see a bill for putting in 25,000 gallons of hot water in a pool or heating it. It seems that just running that pool pump to circulate that water makes the electric bill go up about $100/mo.

Carol said...

Jan, when I looked it up online, it's hard to tell which system is better. People like the salt water system because of how it makes your skin feel. It's like a water softener. It still involves chlorine since, somehow, the salt is converted to chlorine when needed but there is a byproducts that does not occur with the salt...or something. Ya still have to shock it once a week but my pool dude says he'll do that. I hated handling that chlorine.

If I would have researched it before, I might not have done it. If I would have had the dang sand changed in the sand filter last year, I might have had a nice pool last year. That pool is a money pit. Think long and hard before putting one in. Think, how much do I like to work outside in the heat and how much money do I want to throw away? But I'm a hoarder. I can't throw away things and it's not so easy to throw away a 18x36 foot inground pool.

You do dumb things when you are young and have lots of energy. Oh, I had help in making that decision. I had someone really cheering for it and actually split the cost for the initial installation. I created a monster of a yard to have to take care of back 25 years ago and I liked being around water.

"...not always necessary to jump into the fray,"

Coreen, are you calling us fray?

Seems like when that little Washington and Richmond star showed up everyone ran for the hills. You want me to have to make a stand again the establishment all alone here??? Old and toothless as I am? Well only one less tooth but.....

You know, if we had to point the finger of blame for all the crap that is going on, I think our news media is to blame. Once it was owned by those screwing us there was no one left to help inform us that they were screwing us.

You know there were people out there that knew! Somehow the news media has to become independent from those who are screwing us or they aren't worth paying attention to anymore.

And on that program I watched the other night on Link, who do you think was there when people were expressing their displeasure of some of the things that were going to happen that turned out just as they worried they would????? It was Dennis K. Yep, little ole Dennis K. They made him look like a nut case but he was there and he was right. I

Anytime someone is made to look like a nutcase, we better pay attention. It will be someone on the fringe that might be able to save us.

One more comment before we finish this post....I think the Universe has given us all the hints/warnings we need, both economically and environmentally, short of annihilating us all together. Now what do we do with them??
