Lobie, we miss you

We lost our good friend and companion, Lobie, one year ago today. We miss you Lobie. We will take your ashes and spread on the small golf course where we used to walk with you. You found us 12 years ago while we were living in AR. You were just one year old and came out of the woods behind our house. We thought you might be part coyote. You were hungry and scavenging for food wherever you could find it. You adopted us. It was a lovely 11 years. We will never forget you.

Maggie and I are sitting here together and feeling your pain, Jan and John. Lobie is watching over you guys and looking forward to that walk on the golf course.

And I heard her say...thanks for the wonderful 11 years, catch you later!

Coreen said...

Jan, such a lovely tribute to Lobie...those of us with fur families understood fully the sadness you have experienced, along with the
joy of having him as a member of your family...

Just know that Lobie will be walking with you along that golf course...wagging his tail, so happy to be with you there...

Carol, about your interest in the 9/11 controversy...I know that has been a cottage
industry for all these years, just ponder with
caution & not get too caught up in its premise...conspiracy theories of any kind can wreak havoc with one's thoughts/imagination...

As for Hurrican Erin, have no recollection of
it threatening the NYC/CT/NE area at that time...

But burned into my memory is the visuals of that morning, which yes started out as an absolutely exquisite morning...a brilliant blue
sky, pleasant temperatures....turned into
an unimaginable horror....I think I said it
before, I was getting ready to go to my office
(the same office now) TV on NYC channels
& on radio Imus when the first reports came
on live...most thinking it was a small plane
that hit the tower, the horror started when the 2nd jet struck & from then on, it was
a nightmare....watching the smoking towers...
at the time, I left my house before the towers
collapsed & by the time I got to my office about 20 minutes away...my mom had called to say the first tower fell down...It was incomprehensible at the time...

SNL may be worth a look tonite...if this NYPost
bit is accurate...

All eyes will be on "Saturday Night Live" tonight to see how the "Not Ready for Primetime Players" skewer news of Osama bin Laden's death.

We have a hint of their plans. Sources tell us that they spotted this week's host, Tina Fey, in rehearsals playing Ariel from "The Little Mermaid." Fey, done up as a mermaid, was leading the full "SNL" cast in a musical showstopper of the classic Disney tune "Under the Sea."

For the number's finale, bin Laden's corpse is "dropped from the rafters," according to our source, and into the drink, lampooning the terrorist's trip to a watery grave. It's unclear which "SNL" cast members will take on the other beloved "Little Mermaid" characters (though Bill Hader does look like a crab). Not all "SNL" sketches make it from rehearsals on to the show, but we sure hope this one does. An "SNL" rep could not be reached for comment.

Carol said...

Coreen, you're right. I'll leave it alone. There's no doubt in my mind that Binny orchestrated the initial damage to those towers but it was successful beyond his wildest expectations cuz he had some powerful help. Don't know who that was or what the motive was. Wouldn't want to know. Just hope they also get there's and it would take God to do it but she can.

Carol said...

I'll check out SNL.

Yes, Carol, those cretins never imagined the
total destruction that resulted from their
actions...whether it was fate, dumb luck, flawed design, inferior materials, or the
wild theories about who really caused it, can only hope that retribution to them & theirs will be delivered for all times to come...

Which brings me to the comment about the 5-21-11 event known as raptures...have no idea what
that really means, but tell me,what happens when those that believe this see that it does nothappen, what do they do then...do they have afall back plan to explain what it means if it
doesn't happen...or is it oh well, next case...

I do like the Nostradamus stuff though, for the life of me, whenever I watch any of the
shows that try to convince you that he predicted future events by his quatrains...I never see it...I come away saying wow what good
imaginations these guys have...but I do find it fascinating...another cottage industry in his writings...

Justlike the people that claim to communicate
with the dead...in particular I have watched in awe John Edwards (the psychic) tv shows...again I don't get it, would like to think it is real, but I guess unless he could tell me something specific to some departed loved one, I just am skeptical...

Coreen said...

Something I forgot about the other day...those
Black Hawks used in the misssion to kill bin laden, come from here in Stratford, CT...Sikorsky's plant is on the Housatonic River less than 10 miles from where I live...

Over the years, I have seen military choppers on their test pad & hovering (you can
see the test pad from the Merritt Parkway which
goes right by the plant)...have to say those
black choppers are pretty scary looking things
& when they fly overhead are really loud...I have seen a group of them flying over here on
occassion & they are real impressive...(though
the ones I have seen have no visible weaponry)...just big & thunderous....

Carol said...

Coreen, do you know who this guy is who is predicting the date of the Rapture?? What's his claim to fame??

I saw on TM that Jack is offering to take care of the fur babies if we leave them behind. And just for a measly 100 bucks. I wonder if that includes pick up or is that extra?

Carol said...

With the price of gas, I'm sure it's extra.

Carol said...

Coreen, if those coppers are loud, I quess they couldn't sneak in.

Coreen said...

Don't know for sure Carol, Jan mentioned as a small child she was scared of the rapture...what I just looked up suggests it would be when millions of people go poof...
She may know a lot more than me...Seems catholics don't subcribe to the idea...

Now again what do these believers say on 5-22-11 when this doesn't happen...what is the cover story?...

Coreen said...

They could if there really is a stealth tech
that was developed...it would have to be a real
big deal thing...I have corporate choppers fly over the house quite often, they are much smaller than the BH, but they too shake the house...

Carol said...

Coreen, whoever that guy is, who is preaching this Rapture date, was on C2C a while back. I didn't hear him but a friend, who listens when she works the midnight shift, did. She said that George invited him on the day after the Rapture date but he wouldn't accept the invitation. I purposely chose not to listen to that show.

Someone in the know says that no one will know when the Rapture will come. I would rather be surprised. We are either prepared or we're not.

Carol said...

I found this:

"It is true that the English word "rapture" is not in the Bible, but it comes to us through the writings of William Shakespeare from the Latin "raptus", meaning to seize or transport. According to W.W. Skeat’s "Etymology of the English Language, 1879", the word "rapture" was coined by William Shakespeare. The English word "rapture" that he coined means "to be transported by a lofty emotion or ecstasy".

It's game time for yankees at texas rangers & the temp is 89,but they said its dry....is it that hot in LA tonite Carol...

As for the rapture thing...all I can think of is brother love's travelin salvation show...

beyond the rapture what do you think about the
psychics...like John Edward...is it just a desire to connect to those gone or what...

Coreen said...

Have you ever heard of feliway products for trying to calm down cats, contains feline pheromone to get them to be less aggressive...I bought a diffuser & plugged it in so far I think its giving me a headache, plus though it says it has no odor I know there is something different in the air...

So far all the cats are sleeping in different
rooms, I'll give it a try but not for long...

Carol said...

That lady I talked about and listed a link to, a short while back, has the same ability that John Edwards has and I think she also works with him. She was very interesting. She says we all have the ability but it's work to tune into it. I really try to avoid hearing voices.

Children and animals are very intune. Maggie gets spooked at times, other than storms, and I wonder if there is something she's seeing. I don't look to see if there is. I don't mind catching them in my pics but don't want a personal encounter. Not interested in meeting any UFO occupants either.

Coreen said...

Was the guy on C2C Harold Camping...looks like
he may be the one predicting 5-21-11...

I had to laugh when I read this, says he is the Family Radio founder & has put up billboards in the midwest & of all places Bridgeport, CT...
Rapture will not occur on 5-21-11

Coreen said...

Yes, John Edward also says the ability is within all of us...but untapped..But I still have a really hard time in buying into it...
His show isn't on anymore, but I do know that when he appears anywhere around here, its a sell-out before you even find out about it...
don't know if the tv show is done or not...

Carol said...

Coreen, I just went back to look and I think it was this guy Chris McCain of Family Radio who was talking about it but it is that Harold Camping's prediction. I didn't listen to that one.

Carol said...

Coreen I found a rolled up flyer in my yard one day about it. I threw it away. Hope it didn't contain an application or a ticket.

Carol said...

She missed her ticket to ride...

Carol said...

And it was Chris McCann, not McCain.

Carol said...

There have been weekdays, when I've taken the day off and didn't see a soul around, that I thought that maybe the Rapture came and left me behind. It wasn't bad except the thought that I might run out of groceries. Wouldn't want that to happen.

Coreen said...

You wonder why I love this game...

the yanks were behind 5 - 0 after 2 innings...Colon has pitched terribly so far...after they scratch out 1 run with a walk to georgy, double by derek, walk to granderson, double by mark, & then along comes robbie canno, he hits a bases clearing triple to score 3 runs....so the yanks are back in it...behind 5-4...now its the bottom of the 3rd...

Carol said...

And current temp is 75. I found the temp today very comfortable. Humidity 79% but comfortable.

Carol said...

How's the Jetster doing?? Is he worth the money they're paying him??

Coreen said...

There is constant grumbling on NY sports radio
that Derek is now too old, he should be moved
down in the batting order, bla, bla, bla...
I suspect from anti-yankee fans who claim they
aren't...but since the kid is my fav, for me
he has provided so many fantastic moments, that
whatever he was able to negotiate is fine with me...

He's having a slow start, but so are the rest of the guys...time will tell whether his avg
goes up & he starts consistently hitting...
to silence all the envious haters...

You have to see this Coreen...mind control cat ears.

We had a really pleasant day, just about 70, off & on sunny/cloudy, but all in all a nice day...

Last night we went to see Felix Cavalliere & the Rascals in Ridgefield...remember them...
years ago they were the young rascals...

He looked nothing like he did way back when, now a little bald, but his show was terrific...he had an excellent
backup drummer, guitar & bass, with him on his
keyboard...they did an hour, 15 min...

Carol said...

"It's a beautiful morning" the Rascals. And it was.

Coreen said...

Love the cat ears...imagine wearing them when
your in your 'joint'...they would go over big...but don't see them catching on real soon...

Coreen said...

It absolutely was & that's just what I was thinking when we took the plexiglass coverings off the porch screens this a.m...

Carol said...

And tomorrow we'll be "Groovin, on a Sunday afternoon"

And then it will be...Just another manic Monday.

I don't know how long it will be before bedtime Lappy gets out of the hospital. I sure miss her. I have to get up and come into my living room in the morning to get on the computer and go to bed without a lappy. It's tough.

Sorry Coreen.

Hi folks, it has been a busy day here in our household. We went to breakfast with #2 son, Terry and DIL and GD to a local place. I decided to NOT be good and eat something I would not fix for myself at home. I had french toast with bananas and strawberries. It was outstanding. I ate every bite. That is something I rarely do but this tasted so good.

jan said...

After breakfast I went to a little boutique and bought myself a couple of summer skirts and tops with a birthday gift card. Then I went to the YMCA to swim off the french toast. It has been a good day.

Our temp today was up to 85 degrees F.

jan said...

We did not go to the golf course and spread Lobie's ashes like we planned. We will do it another day.

jan said...

I have been reading what you all have written. Interesting stuff.

My understanding of the concept of the rapture came from fundamentalist churches I attended as a young child. It is said that the rapture will happen in the "Twinkling of an eye - those who are ready to go (saved and baptised) will be caught up and those who are not will be left behind).

Personally, and as an adult, I think this is a bunch of crap. There are some recent popular authors who have written a series of books about all this crap, including "the rapture." The first book is titled "Left Behind. " I have seen them on the grocery store book shelves. I have not read any of them and will NOT read them. I think they have caught the eyes of some young people.

jan said...

Coreen, you are right as this stuff about the rapture is not a Catholic concept. It is not discussed in the Episcopal church either. Thank God! I think it is talked about some in the Baptist church. The Methodist church is sort of "wishy washy" about it. The Methodist ministers who are well-educated tend to discount it.

Coreen said...

It's ok Carol, there's another game tomorrow...

Pretty sure you had the game because that channel probably carries the texas team games...

Going to try to watch SNL for that skit...

Jan, happy you got to enjoy the day...

Just find it odd that reasoning people
would fall for that rapture stuff...but seems
many have...and when it doesn't happen like
the preacher says, what do they say then...

also thought this rapture/end days preaching had something to do with Israel, which is why conservatives/christians have embraced Israel & at the same time liberals-dems are turning on Israel...

my guess is that the conservative/christian embracing Israel may be part of the reason dems/libs are more & more anti-Israel...

Time to get going...take care all...

Carol said...

Coreen and Jan, it is amazing what reasoning people will believe. It even surprises some of the people running our government just how naive we can be but then they are banking on it. Literally.

Carol said...

Mr. Scottieman doesn't have a new blog post up yet. Hope he's OK today. When I get used to keeping up with people and they don't show up, I worry.

Carol said...

Scottieman did check in. He's packing for
Figi. For a moment I felt jealous until I stepped outside and remembered that I am in paradise.

Sitting out here on my wharf, in the still of morning, listening to the sounds of the birds and other wildlife. I am blessed.

Carol said...

A very Happy Mother's Day to all.

Carol said...

I've been watching your Yanks Coreen.

Coreen said...

Hope everyone has had a happy mother's day...
Went out earlier for dinner with mom & my cousin...

Came home in time to see the Yankees show why
they are called the Bronx Bombers...

Carol, maybe now they will alll shut their mouths saying Derek is over...

game over, they are talking to
Derek & the first thing he says is Happy mother's day mom...Just love him....

Coreen said...

If you saw them again, I still think its because you are watching a regional channel that carries the texas rangers games...

Carol said...

It was Fox Sports SW. I saw Derek's two back to back HRs and Cevelli's grand slam.

Coreen said...

Carol, the rangers will be coming to the stadium June 14,15,16...my guess is you will see those games against the yankees as well...

I keep telling you...I just love this game...things can happen in a nanosecond...when
we left the restaurant the Yankees were behind...& I do love to see the home runs....
but honestly, they need to start getting just
hits as well, in the end they can not just
win hitting the long ball for the entire season...they need to play little ball too...

Did you have a calm day there...It was really nice earlier, but now it got totally grey...

Carol said...

Yes, Maggie and I had a nice day. Early this morning we weren't sure if the Rapture had come and left us behind but we weren't sweating it.

Carol said...

I saw where that same guy had predicted an earlier rapture back in 1994, I think. This is at least his second prediction. We will worry more when it's his third, OK.

jan said...

Sorry to miss out on all the conversation yesterday. I took the day off from technology. Well, I did watch a little TV last night.

jan said...

Carol, your morning outside watching birds and rest of wildlife sounds like heaven to me.

It is a beautiful time of year here. Many flowers in bloom. I will take some pics to post later.

jan said...

Religion, like falling in love, is one of those things that defies logic.

jan said...

Coreen, sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. How fortunate that you have your mother.
