Season's Change

Autumn has arrived...each year for about two weeks these are some of the scenes I am fortunate to have the pleasure of seeing daily....the color of the trees go from lush green to many hues of
yellow, gold, orange, rust, red, wine....the beauty of Mother Nature is all around to enjoy....

The reservoir in town, the lack of rain has left
a visible reminder....several feet of rocks along the sides are exposed.....

At my office in the center of town....

Coreen,
Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. We don't get the brilliant colors here. We do get some yellows and golds. It is actually illegal to plan elm and maple trees here now. There are a few in town but these were planted years ago before the restrictions.

So I am enjoying seeing all your colors.

We just voted.

Carol said...

Always look forward to your beautiful fall pics Coreen. All we have here is green, a little brown and sightly less leaves.

We finally got a little rain here. Two inches in my rain gauge here over the last two days and I don't think it is over. Rain has been a nice change here with as dry as it has been.

I voted also Jan and I'm waiting to see if our country will be circling the drain later tonight. Hope all the predictions are wrong.

One thing we can look forward to is a significant reduction in those crazy bully campaign ads. That will be a welcome relief.

I think it is ironic in how there was all this news about kids being bullied and that it has to stop but all we saw on TV was politicians bullying one another. Think any of those kids noticed?

Coreen said...

Glad to provide some autumn to your neck of the woods...for the couple of weeks the trees
are in full autumn bloom, it is really pretty
driving through the wooded roads...but now
sadly the leaves are falling & soon the trees
will be bare...I did blow the first wave of
leaves from the driveway last weekend, could not see it...but will wait for the guys to come & clean the entire yard at the end of November....

I voted this morning...CT is supposed to be
clearly democratic wins for both the senate & the governorship...no incumbents running for either office, but if the last Q poll has any
validity, it said that indies were breaking
for Republicans...which would be a minor upset...We had the WWE wrestling woman spending
upwards of $40 million to get the senate seat
vacated by Chris Dodd, polls say Dick Blumenthal has a good lead, but if the indies
go republ. she may pull it off...

Polls close here in 45 minutes...

Oh & it was 35 this morning...cold....

Carol said...

Rand Paul won. Gurgling sound begins.

Coreen said...

Jan, glad you liked the dancing at the movies
video...I thought it was really well done...

Thought it would be hard to choose who the
best guy dancer was...Travolta, Patrick Swayze,
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire...but in the end...hands down...Fred Astaire gets my vote...
but they all looked good....

As for DWTS, all of them did good last night...
Bristol is the weakest...& should be gone tonight...but since it is a popularity contest
to some degree...who knows...

Coreen said...

Carol, as far as election results, will you
be personally impacted by the results around the country...

Over time I have learned that regardless of election results, my personal life will continue with little impact, so I mainly watch
for the historical perspective, not for any sense of personal gain/loss....

Carol said...

Coreen, I think the entire country was impacted by the last time the Republicans got control of our government.

Carol said...

Lately my computer just turns itself off while I'm online. I don't know what is causing that. It just powers off.

Coreen said...

In all honesty, my life does not change regardless of who is in control of this government...

I may not agree with aspects of one or the
other's philosophy, but in the end, my life
is not changed by what they do....thankfully I
have no one in the military (exception the family in North Carolina)...which would color
my opinions greatly if a member of my immediate
family was in the military...

And yes, I too lost significant $$$ as a result
of the banking fiasco, but to blame only the
republicans would be foolish on my part as the
blame is on all sides for failing to do their
respective jobs for quite some time...

all those in d.c. are so far out of touch with those of us out on Main Street who are actually working & paying taxes....they do not look out for me...they want my vote at election & my taxes all the other time....beyond that, I'm on my own...as are most people...

Carol said...

You're right.

Carol said...

I really think Bristol is ready to call it quits on DWTS.

Carol said...

Just heard your wrestler lady went down Coreen.

Coreen said...

Not sure Carol, there is a problem in Bpt. the
largest city in the state...seems pea-brain
registrars of voters ordered on 21,000 paper
ballots, there are 69,000 registered voters,
& as of early this afternoon 11 of the 23 polling precincts had run out of the ballots...
so the AG, SOS, went to Court & the polls remain open in those places in Bpt. til 10 p.m.

Bpt. is heavily democratic...& is important
to the candidates for gov, senate, & 4th district Congress...I was listening to the SOS
on local TV, so if they called it for Blumenthal on national TV, did not see it yet...hard to imagine w/o the votes from Bpt.

If 'Linda' as all her ads say went down for the
count...there must be some WWE slogan to go with it...I know, I know...be nice...

Coreen said...

Oh, & the mayor in Bpt. is using the reverse 911 phone system to call bpt. homes to tell them they can still go vote if their precinct was one of
those w/o ballots earlier...

Carol said...

With the challenge they announced for next week, if I were on DWTS, I'd be hoping to get voted off tonight. That getting the music they have to dance to just before having to dance to it might be fair for the pros but pretty tough for the star dancers. I bet Bristol is praying to go home.

Carol said...

I'm now afraid for one of my favorites.

Carol said...

That was a surprise.

Carol said...

Well, how did your state's do yesterday? I'm gonna say that my state just proved that too much alcohol does kill brain cells. Maybe the entire country did. And another thing...people don't make good decisions when they are angry.

And Obama should have learned that it doesn't pay to play nice with the other side. He tried to cater to them and it didn't turn out too well.

I'm happy to see that some of the real nut jobs didn't make it. Whew. I'm sorry to see Russ Fiengold go. He always seemed so reasonable.

And more important...I was sorry to see Rick get kicked off DWTS. It should have been either Bristol or Kurt. When they got down to the end of the program, I thought it was going to be Kyle. I would have been even more disappointed if that would have happened.

jan said...

Had a lot to read this am.

I was disappointed that my woman gov candidate did not win here in NM. She didn't lose by much. We do have a woman gov now however.

Some of my candidates here in NM won. So I am happy.

As for DWTS - I think Bristoll wants to go home. I too was disappointed that Rick had to go home. I thought he deserved to stay. It is definitely a popularity contest. I am sure the tea party or repubs are voting for Bristoll. She needs to go home to her baby.

Carol said...

I've been watching Oprah out camping with Gail at Yosimite. Brings back some good memories. After watching, I decided I would go camping with Oprah but not with Gail. Gail's a wimp and not a good sport.

Oprah said she never realized how much work camping is. Oh boy, I do. Ya have to really love it and it helps to be young or have lots of help. Just living at a camp is almost too much work for me now.

Carol said...

I was looking at the weather this week for all of our areas and we are getting down to 36 Friday. I see Birmingham will be freezing Friday and Saturday night. Is that normal? Isn't it a little early for those kind of lows?

Carol said...

Yeap Ivy, I still keep up with your weather. I haven't forgotten you. Still read your Scottie man blog. It's been very interesting. He's learning to adjust to being a single man and learning that animals are often more company than people. I learned that also as I learned to live alone. I hope everything is alright with you and you fly.

And you also Chloe. Hope everything is OK with you and the fly. And you too Solar.

Hope y'all haven't been going thru the blahs that I have. As you have probably noticed I have to strain to come up with something to write about. I've theorized that it might be some leaking methane from the Gulf floor. It seems that many others are experiencing the same condition I am so I am wondering if it is environmental. Maybe it a super collective blah. Hope not but it could explain the election results. And I don't think that's going to make anything better. Maybe give us more to cry about.

jan said...

I have the blahs too and we don't have any methane here.

Carol said...

I've run out of comedy shows to watch and usually I check in to the news but I can't stomach seeing that John Boehner's face again and hear him say he knows what the American people want. I think many of us would like for him and the rest of the politicians to take a long vacation to Haiti. Maybe they would get an idea of what we don't want.

Carol said...

The conservative pundits were comparing this new Republican victory to a tsunami or earthquake. Last night Jon Stewart asked the question...do they realize that all their metaphors killed thousands of people.

Carol said...

And I heard yesterday, before I hit the barf level and that didn't take long, that the Repubs are interpreting that the American people elected them because we want the top 2% of the richest to get that tax cut. And then I heard Obama say that he might could compromise on that. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

That's why the American people keep changing parties so often...you fools don't have a clue. You find a why to interpret things in order to do what you want for yourselves and your rich friends and big business.

Obama, your party didn't take a hit because you didn't compromise. It most likely took a hit because you didn't kick ass and take names!

Carol said...

The American people are saying we are going to keep shaking it up until some of you idiots finally get it.

Carol said...

Some people do not like to eat foods that are a lot of trouble to eat but I do. I like to peel and eat shrimp, used to like eating boiled crawfish before I developed my allergy to them, still love to pick through boiled crabs to get the meat out and don't mind gnawing on my little spicy chicken wings. I consider it eating and entertainment and the eating lasts longer, which is a plus.

And speaking of foods that are a lot of trouble to eat, this evening I finally found a good looking pomegranate at the grocery store. I've loved pomegrantes since I was a little kid and I can only find them at this time of year. The only problem is when I eat them, I have to wear some surgical gloves or if I don't, I have to bleach my hands when I'm through.

Jan, do they grow pomegrantes where you live?

jan said...

LOL, as a matter of fact, I have seen pomegranite trees here. I don't care for them. I like most other fruits though.

jan said...

It is funny to me Carol that you like those foods you have to work to eat. I don't. Now I don't mind peeling and chopping veggies for soups or fruit for my smoothies. I love shrimp but I don't like it if I have to prepare it - same with chicken. I buy it already cooked. cleaning, cutting or Cooking it ruins it for me.

jan said...

I was hungry for a hamburger tonight. There are some places that make good burgers here but they take to long, so we just went to Wendy's. Not a great burger but satisfying.

Carol said...

If those really rich people/big businesses/corps wouldn't have spent all that money to get the Repubs in office, would they have needed their big tax break???

Isn't it telling that they don't mind spending their money, non tax deductable, to screw most people in this country but they don't want to use it to pay taxes that would help so many people???

This is something that the American people need to ponder, ponder hard!

jan said...

Coreen, I am enjoying your fall pictures so much. It has been a stressful week - job, personal - you name it - so every time I check here to see if anyone has written anything, I see these beautiful fall scenes and I linger for awhile, take some deep breaths and just enjoy.

jan said...

Carol, hope you will forgive me but I have so much stress in my life right now that if I looked at the news, I would go "jump in a lake" somewhere. No politics for me. I have enough of that in my family and job. LOL

Coreen said...

Thinking it may be the season's change that has
caused that blah feeling...I know I do not like
waking up in the dark...but since we change the
clocks tomorrow, that should help....but it will be dark on the way home which I don't like
either...

Jan, glad you get a little pleasure from the
pics...am hoping some day you find time to
show us more of NM (& those watermelon mountains...I haven't forgotten, but I can wait)...

As for politics, most people don't get overly
involved/excited by it...& that is probably a good thing...like I said, election results don't really change most people's daily lives...

It's been a gloomy week, raining & chilly...
Lots of leaves came down...but it is going to get better...& a little warmer next week....

Carol said...

Jan, I think I focus on the political crap because that is a horror that's not so personal for me but it is something I can bitch about.

SF is starting to threaten to take over his finances again and his bookkeeper lady has been doing such a good job of trying to dig him out of debt. She still has a long way to go.

SF is threatening BK lady and I'm scared she is going to quit. If she quits I don't know what I will do. She has been one of the only good things re: SF. I'm not sure how to handle things. He gave me POA but he could still change that unless I take him to court and have him ruled incompetent. He is definitely incompetent but I don't want to deal with that.

I'm so stressed these days that I'm not even handling my own afairs too well much less SF's.

I'm meeting my friend for Mexican tonight. I little break.

jan said...

Carol,
Hope your Mexican dinner tonight and being with a friend helped your stress.

I remember the thing that Chloe posted recently about how it is family relationships or the relationships with the ones we love that stress us the most. I say "Amen" to that. I don't know what "Amen" really means and I don't want to ask John for fear he will give me one of his sermons. LOL.

jan said...

We just got through watching the Dateline show on Mary Winkler, the woman in Tennessee who shot her preacher husband a few years ago. It was chilling.

Carol said...

Jan, from my childhood church days I remember that Amen was suppose to mean...let it be so, or something like that. Now I will look it up.

Wiki:

"So be it; truly" Or "Verily," and "Truly."

And I guess Mary Winkler demonstrated that preacher's can get on your last nerve. I'm not sure because I didn't see the show. Did she come up with a good reason to bump off the preach or was she just having a bad day?

Carol said...

I enjoyed the Mexican food last night and the company. I do need to get out more often. I'm gonna take Mary out to one of our casinos tonight to get out again.

It's 37 outside or at least that's what Yahoo is reporting. Cooler here than where you are Coreen or at least that's what Yahoo says.

Carol said...

Would we be better off under a President Hillary Clinton?

I guess it does no good to cry over spilt milk.

Coreen said...

Good morning...

Carol, Happy Birthday to you and Mary...

enjoy your casino trip...good luck...

And the morning is starting partly cloudy about
40...

Carol said...

Thanks Coreen. I have been trying to forget that. I'm still hovering around my bed. It's warmer in here. 57 in my kitchen so I just run into the kitchen for warm coffee and run back.

Solar said...

Carol,

Looking in to see that it's yours and Maria's Birthday. Have a good one.! One of the very few day's that are real Holiday's imo.

What we need here at the swamp in order to have a party....is for Chloe, and Ivy to bring the booze...or punch or whatever you pinks want to drink....I like a hard liquor with a budwieser chaser....but coffee is just fine also....im the same with or without....

Very sunny but a little cool here today....just perfect weather.!

jan said...

Carol
I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

jan said...

Mary,
I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

jan said...

Mary Winkler's husband was abusive in every sense of the term. the reason she shot him was because he was smothering their baby. She did not ask for help when all the abuse was going on - which didn't help her. Most of the men interviewed thought she got away with murder. Most of the women interviewed believed her. She got voluntary manslaughter. She served a sentence, but mostly took place in a pysch place. She didn't get her 3 little girls back for 2-3 years. Now, she is raising them in Tennessee, living a simple life. She regrets she didn't try to get help. He was a preacher and she thought she needed to protect him. I believe her.

jan said...

Carol, thanks for the explanation of "Amen."

jan said...

Enjoying a quiet Sat at home.

John is watching the Alabama vs LSU game. Ivy, I bet you are watching it too.

I will make some chick and vegie soup tonight. Its a soup kind of day.

Carol, I bet you and Mary are celebrating your birthdays. Hope you both win big at the casino tonight.

jan said...

Chloe and Coreen, I wonder what you two are doing today???

jan said...

Hi Solar,
Good to hear from you. I could stand a margarita right now. That is my fav alcoholic drink. I could do with a cup of tea or a good iced coffee just as well.

Carol said...

Just trying to save you a sermon Jan.

How's tricks Solar? Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the BD wishes.

I went to visit with SF. I decided I wouldn't discuss his wanting to take back over his finances and praying he wouldn't mention it either. My prayers were answered, he didn't. Just hope that his BK lady can handle his tormenting her.

Watching LSU and Alabama play. Was expecting Alabama to stomp us but we're into the 4th quarter and only one point behind. Amazing.

jan said...

Coreen, Is your weather any better today?

jan said...

Carol, pretty exciting game - huh?

jan said...

John is rootin for LSU. He always is for anyone who is playing Ala. His ex is from Alabama. Sorry Ivy. I am rootin for Ala.

Carol said...

LSU won. I'll be doggone.

Carol said...

Off to meet Mary.

Carol said...

I thought it would be a lot easier to get up this morning because I could sleep an hour later but nope, I still had to peal myself out from under the covers. I think some of my blah is due to my age. 40 didn't bother me, 50 didn't bother me but 60, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I've been feeling it for a while now. A couple of months ago it slammed me. I don't have the get up and go that I used to. I guess I'm going to have to work at it harder than I used to, ie get out and exercise.....

Carol said...

My alarm clock didn't do much but...I turned on Morning Joe and that did blast me awake. They are still trying to figure our why the Dems lost.

Ya know I pondered why anyone would want to run for president in times like these and I was a little glad, not really, that my Hillary didn't make it because I do think they would be drilling her right now if she did. I think she would have done a better job but they still would have drilled her. That right wing drill machine is just too powerful and the American people are too naive. I'm being nice using the word naive.

It was the right wing drill machine that made it impossible for Hillary to win in the first place. They started that action years ago. The Dems machine picked Obama because he didn't have a history to go after and they could shout that race card claim if things got heavy in that area. It worked.

The right has and does put out a lot of misinformation and many don't listen to the news, it's too hard to, so they only hear sound bites and those sound bites stuck. The propaganda put out by the right is very dangerous.

Carol said...

Coreen, your weather sounds a little rough this morning, wet, cold and windy. I heard that on MJ also.

jan said...

Carol, I agree on all you said above about the current political scene.

It is lovely weather here in the 60's today.

Carol, I recommend the exercise. I think it is the one reason I have been able to fend off depression and obesity. Both are in my fam history. I make myself exercise whether I want to or not. Most of the time I love to walk and swim. If I get out of the routine of doing it, I can tell by my blood pressure. It is low, but if I don't exercise it starts gradually climbing. I find that very interesting.

jan said...

Stay dry Coreen.

Coreen said...

We got through the morning...the driveway had about 1/2 inch of ice pellets this a.m...very windy, cold, ice pellets, freezing rain...those that had to drive to work early had the problems, but then it cleared up...but still very windy...a cold biting wind...temp never went above 41 outside my office all day...but the rest of the week should get better

jan said...

Coreen, Yikes!

Coreen said...

Though I do honestly think Hillary would have been a leader first & foremost...& she would have addressed the economy, not wasted precious time on an ill conceived health care plan that did not address the basic problem...the ever escalating costs..I am relieved that she has not been
subjected to the venom from the left & right
that would have been non-stop, regardless of what she attempted....on any front...

Pres. Obama's flaw is that he is not a leader,
never was, maybe if he had worked a little longer learning he might have become effective..but as it turns out he just isn't...

That said, I see no opponent on the horizon
who will replace him, so in the end, he will
manage to get by the next 2 years & be re-elected...he wins, maybe we don't, but he does...

Coreen said...

It was a bit early for the winter blast Jan,
& the wind is howling still...but the sun
did come out for a short time this p.m....I hated coming home in the almost dark this evening...

Carol said...

Ouch Coreen. That weather doesn't sound appealing.

It was cool here early but it warmed up nicely during the day and turned into a beautiful day.

I like the getting up later and it being a little lighter in the morning when I leave for work and we still have daylight when I get home. You guys have longer summer days and shorter winter days so you may leave and return in the dark in the winter.

Last night I kept feeling like it was time for bed when it was still early. I guess we will be experiencing a little jet lag for a while.

Coreen said...

Here's a news update from CT...you may have
heard about the 2 cretins that massacred a family here a couple of years ago (mother & 2 young daughters, while beating the father badly, the details are just exceedingly horrific)...well tonight the jury that convicted the 1st one to go to trial, has finally after 4 days of deliberating, voted the death penalty to this scumbag...Everyone here was somewhat uneasy as to why it took them so long to come back with the finding... (& yes I am pro-death penalty...if ever there was a case that demands it...this was one)....

Carol said...

Coreen, I read somewhere that Hillary would have most likely made a few of those health care changes and spent more time on the economy.

I wanted them to take baby steps. It was too big a problem to try to solve with one big bill. I don't think any of us understood just what all was changed and how it would effect us. I wonder if anyone really did. They did a horrible job of explaining things to the public which gave the Right the opportunity to scare everyone.

Hell, I don't think most of us even know what all Obama accomplished over the last two years. They didn't explain that to us. I wonder if they just think we're all too stupid to understand.

The left just said trust us, we helped you and the right said trust us, you got screwed. Since more people are feeling like they have been screwed lately, the right won.

Carol said...

Anyone interested in reading George's book? I am. I read at least 4 books about the Bush presidency and the only other book I've read about or by a president was Bill Clinton's. I think I got his book on CD so I could listen to it in my vehicle. That was back when I spent so much time on the road.

As much as I hated Bush's presidency, I still found him to be an interesting character. Matt Lauer is interviewing him tonight and Oprah will tomorrow. I'll tape Matt's interview tonight so I can watch DWTS.

What may also surprise and/or disgust you all is that I also find Sarah P interesting and entertaining. I wouldn't want her for any political office but I still like to listen to her when she is not discussing politics. I do plan to watch her reality show in Alaska.

I could be very wrong but I believe that Sarah's political ambitions now are more to see how much money she can rake in. Hey I can't blame her for that. They made her a celebrity and she taking that to the bank. If she told us she wasn't interested in running for president/vice president, the bottom would likely drop out of her stock.

Carol said...

Remember that tonight on DWTS they are having to learn a dance and then get the music 45 minutes before they go on to do it. I bet that's going to be an adventure.

Carol said...

Kyle was so graceful with that dance. He is really good and he doesn't get the breaks from the voters or the judges. I think he should have recieved some 10s on that dance.

Carol said...

Is anyone else getting a little tired of Jennifer's whining? Yes, we all know how hard it must be. Yes, we realize your 50 but get over it. With all her ortho reports each week I feel like I'm back at work.

Carol said...

Tonight I'm trying a different voting strategy. All my votes go to Kyle because I think he may be the next to go and he doesn't deserve that. If I spread my votes around, like I usually do, it's like not voting at all.

Carol said...

Bristol is making progress. Levi might be a little sorry he's not going home with her tonight.

Coreen said...

They all did very well...Brandy was just beautiful, graceful....I do like Jennifer as well...

If I had the last word...though she is greatly
improved, I still say Bristol should go...then
between Kurt & Kyle...Kyle has the edge to stay...

Carol said...

I'm still having problems focusing on Brandi's dancing because Max is always wearing something that brings out the fineness of his derriere. Don't particularly care for his personality but his ass.....more than makes up for it.

Carol said...

Coreen, Kyle is way better than Kurt. I do like Kurt though. I really like all of them.

Carol said...

Well, at least two of the judges finally gave Kyle what he deserved. They made that insta dance look easy. They did at least get a song we recognized.

Carol said...

Well, I did know that song.

Coreen said...

Now Jennifer & Derek...that was exquisite... a very sensual dance...Derek's choreography is the edge....

Everything Bruno said & more....

Wow 3 10s....

As for Max...sorry absolutely no appeal for me
there...remember, I like my Hawaii 5-0 guys!!!..

Carol said...

Jennifer's dance looked more like a Yoga exercise.

Carol said...

Jennifer's dance was so much less involved than Kyle's but they got all 10s. Not fair!

Carol said...

She had a few nice stretches but not much dancing.

Coreen said...

Didn't you have similar feelings about last
season's group....to quote Yogi...deja vu all over again....

Carol said...

Coreen, just put a bag over Max's head and focus on the glutes!

Carol said...

I didn't recognize any of the songs by their names but I did recognize them when I heard them.

Carol said...

Yeap Coreen, I never go for the easy ones, for the ringers.

Carol said...

And a 10 for the baby driving her walker down the Interstate commercial.

And speaking for baby commercials, I love that new E trade baby commercial where baby pulls out his Iphony.

Carol said...

Watching this dancing always makes me feel like I've had a workout. I think I even got my heart rate up into the aerobic area. Almost as good as exercise.

Coreen said...

What's with Carrie Ann...she is more confrontational each week...& my instinct is that she doesn't like Bristol's mom &/or her
political views & takes veiled shots at Sarah
through Bristol...but that being said...I still
think Bristol should leave the show next...&
Kurt is another candidate for exiting soon...

Have no clue about the commercials, I guess I
tune them out pretty quick..

Coreen said...

Now is the dustup between Maks & Carrie Ann, an
act...or is there real animosity?....

Carol said...

I don't think Carrie Ann and Max like each other. He's not that easy to like.

Carol said...

If DWTS turns out like this last election did....Bristol just may win that mirror ball.

Solar said...

Did not read too much about DWTS, or baseball, football , but there is definably a sadness going on at the swamp.....get over it.!! This is ours...yours blog...U should be able to say whatever you want....if someone getts a little mad....and they will from time to time......so What....get over it.!!

Lets see........Texas...I hate that frikin state...they drag people behind pick-up trks........Texas......I love the frikin state.....cos I love a swamp gal that lives in it....Chloe lives there, and that all I have to know..

Ivy,

I see that your back, great.!! I have learned a lot about birds, in a book that im almost finished with....amazing.!!!

Solar said...

Forgot, love all of the states that you are all in also.....Coreen, we are getting plenty of nice weather...lots of sun, and at night, cool but not cold....

Solar said...

that should read ...definitely...sorry

Carol said...

You have a buzz last night Solar? Hope so.

Carol said...

Jan, missed seeing your critique of the show last night. Coreen and I seldom agree. We usually represent two diverse points of view.

Solar said...

Carol,

.....hoping that you are feeling better, and no, not buzzed, just that I felt after reading the last week of posts that there were some tensions going on here at the swamp, if not then im sorry for misinterpreting.....but where is everyone?

Working at night, sometimes days, and sometimes afternoons, has had an effect im me tho....seems like im always trying to catch up on lost sleep.

It's a good thing for me; that I can get enough sleep to go on if I can get 4-6 hrs of solid sleep. I have been trying a cpl of things that have been very helpful in doing this:

Just before I wind down and ready to go to bed, I yell and wake up Judy ( just kidding ) by yelling out Im home ( used to do it when I had a room mate, my buddy John would get pissed, but nothing he could do, I was tougher than he was....jejeje, he did get even with me tho, wanna hear?)

Anyway just before going to bed, I lie on my back on the floor, and spread out my arms over my head until I can feel a slight stretch, same with my leg, and sit up, do some yoga stretches, and it seems to re-align my torso...take my pill, for my back, half of a over the counter sleeping pill, so I can slow down my mind ( too many people talking all at the same time....in my little ole cabeza) and generally it does the trick...when it doesn't...then it does seem like I drank a little....sorrrrry.!

John, and I were in the Marine Corps together, we enlisted on the buddy system. We still get together once every cpl of months to go back to the future...drive the girls nuts...."every time that you two get together, relive the old day's we never know when you are coming home...in two hrs, or the next day"....that why we plan our meetings on the weekends...who cares if the grass and other GIVEN chores doesn't get done HA.!

The way that John used to get even, was that when I came in late, he used to get up real early, and go into the shower, leave the door open, and start singing....he was a terrible singer.....

Imagine hearing this over and over, and over on a hang over, and over:

"There is a HOLE in the bucket ( representing t he shower) dear Lisa, dear Lisa, there is a HoLLLLLLLEEEEE in the bucket dear Lisa, dear Lise,......There is a HOLEEEE in the bucket dear Lisa, dear lisa.......

WELLLLLLL, fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, Wellll fix it dear Henry, dear Henry........GRRRRR then he would pretend that all was ok with the whole freakin world......and let the sun in all of the rooms...I would shout at him.....hey Flea Head, wait till I get U and kick your ass.!!!...which made him roar out in laughter..........

But he would leave early, cos he know that if I did get up, he would get thrown back into the shower.....to clean up his signing......I love the dirty tricks that we used to play on each other...the jokes that is....

Once when he had a very important date ( candle light dinner ) at the apartment.......I....but thats another story....later

Chloe, Ivy, Coreen, Maria, Jan,wanna hear it??? but don't let the little Pinks hear it.....

Ok, here is my opinion on last night's dances: I think Brandy's dances and her pro (who I also don't like) were fabulous. She has those long legs and was such a match for her pro. I do not like Macks at all. He is an egotistical jerk who uses control with the stars who dance with him. don't think he is sexy or anything else desirable. I still am burning about the way he swatted Brandy on the butt several times in their rehearsals several weeks ago. I think the show should not keep him on after this season. But Brandy deserves a chance. She is outstanding.

I love watching Kyle and ?? Kyle has stolen my heart. He is a gentleman and so funny. He has come such a long way in this competition. If the prize had anything to do with progress, he should get it.

I too am tired of hearing Jennifer complain, but how many women her age do as well in dancing. Usually the older women are gone by this stage of the game. I loved the dances she and ? (there goes the memory) did.

Warner is doing ok but he probably will go this time. He is such a nice guy and seems like a good hubby and dad. He is tops in my book and will look for him when his team plays. Bristol did so much better this week. Her baby is with family - that may have made a difference.

I think it will be either Bristol or Warner who go.

Hi Solar, sounds like you and John have a great relationship. I wish Carol and I could get together every few months and talk about "auld" times. We could tell some tales too and every so often, we do.

Carol said...

Solar, does John live close by? It must be nice to get together with your old friend. Just don't get too roudy and end up in jail. Take my word for it, jail ain't comfortable.

I miss Ivy and Chloe also but I'm sure they are busy with more exciting things to do than drop in here. Just hope everything is good with both of them and their families.

Carol said...

And Solar, Ivy and Chloe hung in here for a year and that was probably a record for a little simple blog like this one. I still miss their friendship.

Jan, it might be Kurt who leaves tonight but I doubt it will be Bristol even though I think she would welcome it. It doesn't appear to me that she is that passionate about continuing. I hope it isn't Kyle but the way things have gone this season, it could be anyone.

And Kurt retired from football in January this year. I just looked it up.

Carol said...

What was the mystery missle fired off California?? C2C might have something to say about it. Maybe they will get to the bottom of it.

Just read that C2C will be talking about it tonight in their first hour. Too late for me since that's at midnight my time. I'll catch it tomorrow on the computer.

I think my laptop just crashed for good. It's been powering down spontaneously. I thought I figured out the problem but it just happened again and won't come back. I'm on Iphony. Can't seem to keep a
laptop much more than a year.

jan said...

No surprise that Kurt was voted off tonight. He is a true gentleman.

Carol said...

I agree Jan.

Bringing my laptop to a
guy at work. Hope he can fix it. Problem is when I
went to pick up this computer from
Best Buy they gave me the box
and start up disk for another computer. I had them prepare it for
me. I'm thru with them.

jan said...

Carol, I am so sorry to hear about your laptop. Having problems with a computer is the most frustrating thing. Thank heavens for your iphony. I hope your computer problems are resolved soon.

jan said...

Chloe and Ivy, I miss you too.

Carol said...

Jan, iphony is no
picnic to use but I think I needed to get away from the computer for a
while.

I needed to find the start up disk for my computer and had looked. It would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Prayed to
St Anthony, saint of lost things. Found that needle! Miracle! Got
computer to my friend. Hope there's another miracle.

Coreen said...

Do you think maybe computers are made to fail
after a certain time....

Hope you have some luck with getting it fixed, Carol...but if not, beside best buy, how about staples or p.c. richards....costco & the like
don't they carry computers as well...

Carol, do you think the iphone is worth it..I keep toying with the idea of getting one...a friend was visiting & seemed to work pretty well...

And no surprises on DWTS...though Bristol really should be gone...a testimony to the Palin phenom....but are there enough of them
in the end....

Carol said...

Computer guy said poor quality control for these computers
these days. Gave him two laptops I've had over last three years. Old one totally crashed. He said that one needs
a new hard drive, about 60 bucks. My current one just needs to be cleaned and reloaded. Said that should be done at least
once a year. I was also using a universial power cord. He said that may have been the problem.

jan said...

Ouch on the computer stuff. I could not live without mine now but did for many years.

Carol said...

Computer guy is a deputy who works on computers for fun and side
business.

I'm off tomorrow
for Veterans Day. I hired my secretary
to come help me clean and organize el campo. That
has been weighing heavy on my
psyche.

Coreen the new iPhone
4 is even better but using it as
a sub for a laptop is not
something I think you would
easily tolerate being that you don't even
know where your cellphone is. You have to
be mini gadget tolerant

Carol said...

Jan, last night I was jonsing within minutes of
it being out. Even shaking
a little. I felt totally lost this morning. Using Iphony is
like taking a Tylenol when you really need heroin.

Coreen said...

Good memory, Carol...I still rarely use the cellphone...dead in my pocket book...I think I'll go get it & charge it...

Meantime...stumbled on this tv viewers poll...what dems & repubs watch...I may just not be a 'real dem'...I don't watch any of the
shows in their list...

Dems/repubs like different TV shows

Carol said...

Modern Family is on the Repub list???
Don't agree with those lists. Probably
written by a Repub and
we know we can't trust them.

jan said...

OMG, I must be a Republican. Several of those were my favs. The only one I like on the dem side is "The Good Wife"

jan said...

My oldest son is a republican and we like the same shows. So go figure.

jan said...

Coreen, I did not remember (I probably missed it somewhere) that you don't always carry a cell phone. I carry mine mostly for work. When I was not working this summer, had very few calls.

jan said...

I definitely am not mini-gadget tolerant. I only use my cell for calls and occasional texts - my sons and grandkids text.

Carol said...

I recently got texting and it's nice for just sending a
quick note when you don't
want to disturb someone.

No The Middle or Modern Family tonight. Drats.

jan said...

yeah! bummer- I missed Modern Family. Rented a movie, Winter's Bone, that won some awards. I liked it but John said he didn't get it and he slept through it. It was about this 17 y/o girl trying to take care of her younger bro and sis. Her mom was mentally ill and dad had disappeared. Setting was Ozarks in Missouri. Pretty involved plot so won't say anymore. Her life reminded me of some of my dreams.

That was my evening. It has been a stressful day. Had to go head-to-head with one of my bosses. I think I won today's battle, but in the end will probably lose the war in some way. Isn't that the way it usually turns out.

Carol said...

Jan, are they trying to work you more than you bargained
for?

Carol said...

Hear about the Twinkie diet? It would
work for me since I don't like them.
