Please, someone tell me that those music signs that I pasted onto the post didn't turn everything to gibberish. It's English on my computer, but it always is on mine.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!

Here's your horoscope - see if it fits...(?)

"The Sun trine Moon in your Solar Return chart is a fortunate aspect. It suggests that your domestic and career needs are not in competition with one another this year. Your inner needs tend to be mirrored by external events, and vice versa. This aspect is very powerful and rewarding. It suggests that you will be on top of your game this year, for the most part, and positive connections with others can be made rather easily. A comfortable level of personal popularity helps to keep conflict to a minimum. With the ability to handle your emotions successfully, there is less stress on both your mind and body. Your self-confidence and positive attitude will reward you.

The year ahead is strong for strengthening relationships, as well as for learning and expanding your horizons through contact with others. For the most part, you experience harmony between what's in your heart and what's in your head. Avoiding the tendency towards "pie in the sky" thinking will be necessary in order to keep grounded. Impractical ventures may hold a strong lure for you, and it is best to avoid jumping into new endeavors without thinking things over first."

I'm going to check back in before I turn into a pumpkin, to see if the post came out in computer code on anyone's computer - I'm paranoid, because of past problems.

I hope someone leaves a comment, so I can rest easy, or fix it.

Solar, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

Please don't let the business disappointment get in the way of that.

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!!

... oh, and for those who don't know it already, that top pic is one of Solar's favorites, so I thought it needed to be there.

I'll bet you anything, he wishes he were there right now, lost in it's beauty.

Right Solar?

Happy Birthday Solar, tomorrow, I think?

It turned out great Chloe, no gibberish!

Carol said...

I recognize the pic Chloe.

You Leo, the lion, huh Solar? That's why you're so bossy.

Carol said...

Seems like I remember that Solar likes to start celebrating early on his birthday. He's up for the sun rise. He makes it an all day thing.

Anonymous said...

... thanks Carol, now I'll rest easy. Now I'm going to go get showered, and ready to do just that - rest.

Yes, it is tomorrow, isn't it Solar?

See you tomorrow.

Leo's are one of my favorite signs Solar. I am supposed to be compatible with Leos. John is also a Leo but his B'day is not until August.

jan said...

Oh yes, Solar, I have 2 grandchildren whose birthdays are July 24. One will be 21 and the other 13. I won't ask how old you will be.

Solar, Happy Birthday to You! Hope you didn't tie one on too much last night at the wedding, so that you have to start your birthday with a hangover.

Seems I remember that your fly is a little religious. Does that mean they don't drink? Many of your fly are Catholic and down here most of the Catholics, I know, do like to drink. They start at communion and don't stop but I told ya we are a drinking culture down here.

We have a large Catholic population down here. I told you I was even considering joining until I learned that the ladies doing my conversion program were saying a Novena to get Bush elected. That's when I came to my senses. My joining was actually just part of a grief response after mom died.

What most attracted me to the Catholic church was that it was SF and mom's church, it was a sweet little church, where they lived, and the Catholic church really likes Mary, not my sister. Yep, you guys know how much I like Big Mary, the mother. She's the one that's out there kicking Bonnie's ass right now, and doing a pretty good job.

Back to religion and alcohol. Now the Baptists around here, they still like to drink but not when any of their church peeps are around. I don't think drinking is legal in the Baptish church. The liguor stays locked and hidden away until everyone's gone and then they wheel it out. Methodists come in a close second to the Baptists.

Now as for Jewish...I never really knew any. One guy in jail tried to tell me he was Jewish because he wanted a special Kosher diet. I had to chuckle because I don't think there are many Jewish people in jail. And as for special diets, we don't have any.

There actually aren't too many religious people in jail, at least not until they get there, and then they seem to find religion real quick. If I had a nickel for every one who told me they found Jesus in jail. He must hang out there.

Now, how was that for flight of ideas.

Carol said...

And speaking of Jewish, I sure miss ya Ivy. Could you drop in with a little pome?? We need our culture queen here.

Last night Mag and I carted down to visit my RR friends. They told me that tonight they were doing a gig down the road. They said it was going to be a Bonnie blast. That's the tropical system out in the Gulf. Any excuse for a get together. Music, food, and, of course, booze will be involved.

Coreen said...

Solar, many happy wishes...hope you have a great birthday...

Coreen said...

Good news that Bonnie has weakened & hopefully
won't gather any steam so that wherever she goes, it is only a big rain event, nothing damaging...

I miss Ivy too, Carol.

Ivy, we're putting out a culture call to you! We'll 'go to pot' without you.

Speaking of party states, we live in one too, Carol - and California wasn't much better.
The bad thing here though is that they don't look down on drinking and driving as much as they did in Ca. When we first moved here, you'd see all the convenience stores brown bag wrapping beers for the road. That would have been unheard of where we came from. They actually were encouraging drinking and driving. They still do it here, but not as much - they've gotten a lot more strict.

Texas is gentrifying somewhat since the early 90's. So many people from such a wide range of states have moved here, that there's been an uplift in awareness. Just another example of 'change' being a good thing. Makes us step back and rethink things.

Anonymous said...

... I should have said gentrifying 'a lot'.

Anonymous said...

Only a little in the drunk driving cases though:

Percentage of those killed in Traffic Related Accidents due to alcohol

The following table of stats shows the total state-by-state auto accident fatalities in 2008 and the percentage of car crash deaths that involved a driver who had .08% blood-alcohol content or higher.
.... go about a quarter of the way down the page on this one to see the charts.

Carol said...

Very interesing Chloe. We can always depend on you to find the most interesting things.

Carol said...

That "gentrifying" was a new word for me.

jan said...

I am so happy for you in LA that Bonnie is fading out for you. You all need a break for a change.

Chloe, I lived in TX for 7 years and there was more drinking and driving there than in any state I have lived in. Three years ago, here in NM a drunk driver got on a service road going the wrong way and took out a whole family of 5 people. One was a masters student in our nurs program. The drunk guy had just got off a plane - drunk - stopped at a convenience store and bought a 6 pack - he died in the crash too. It is a huge problem in NM also. It is the main killer of teens here.

jan said...

Chloe, thanks for posting that link with the drunk driving stats. I thought NM would be higher. Interesting that Utah is lowest all 3 years. I noticed Montana was one of highest. I lived there 2 years. Several of the Northwestern states had very high stats - wyoming, N. Dakota, Montana. Lots of open roads in those states with long distances between towns - also long harsh winters with not much to do.

jan said...

Ivy, I miss you too. Hope you are having a good summer. I miss your pics of birds and spiders and your lovely pomes.

Solar, just heard there was some serious flooding in your neck of the woods. Lots of water on the roads. Stay dry buddy.

I'm heading to SF's now. I did some of my chores and will have to finish tomorrow.

Chloe,

A great surprise this Am When I awoke and sat at the pc. I usually just get up and go out for the whole day. Make the rounds at the museums and downtown area...

Thanks for a great Morning Birthday Surprise, you always make me feel great, and so do you all. ....thanks to you all as well!

Carol,

Yes there was a lot of drinking going on yesterday.! Catholics like to drink heavy and do stupid things, b/c they know that all will be forgiven.....

No I did not drink that much, I don't want to deal with the hangovers that I used to get...I did have some wine, and cpl of soothes and water, but spread out...and danced a lot again....

I saw more of the little ones, the ones that i parley get to see, and a cpl of new ones that were just born, didn't even know their names...

The "Christians that said that they didn't want to drink at the last wedding were doing a good job of it at this one....I think that they didn't in last one, is just b/c it was to say that they did not at theirs, and give the idea that they are much cleaner about tier habits when they get together..matter of fact, I heard something along these lines....

We got hammered last night real bad ( heavy, heavy storms) on the way to the reception....I did not go to the Church this time.....and when we left around 1 am...it was so bad that it took us twice as long to get home.!

Thats what happens when im in a real dark mood.! Chloe, no im just kidding, Im not as mad as much as disappointed in a missed opportunity.....been around to long to not know that sometimes that things can go the opposite way of what I want them too.

When my Son was growing up, and he would ask me for something...I made sure that he understood that he knew that there were two possibilities....a yes and a no...nothing was to be taken for granted.!

When some one asks for a favor, or when we ask for a favor, we must accept the no reply just as gracious as the yes...and not get pissed b/c it was not done for us....disappointed yes but not mad???

Last night there were three different deacons from three different Catholic churches I knew two of them, the third kept asking my why I did not go to church..my bro...knew that he was heading for trouble...

But all I did was to ask if he knew why he was there. He said no, i said that the two other would turn the ladder ( hopefully in the right direction, clock wise) while he held onto the light bulb...my bro laughed his ass off......

I did have to chase him away tho...he would not give up....I asked him if he knew who made the first ( true story) slot...(hey U are a gambler huh ?) slot machine.....he said no.

I was the Catholic Church, they invented a slot machine that dispensed Holy Water..only a little of it for a coin, and then shut off.....not if that doesn't bring Ivy around.......

Ps Chloe thanks for the Pic in the post, yes it is one of my fav's, and yes I would like to be there right now.....not too many places that are left that no human ape has put foot on.....

soothes??? scotches and water

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Solar, Happy Birthday to you.
I love your story of your talk with the deacon yesterday LOL. good for you.

jan said...

Chloe, if memory serves me right, while I was living in TX they passed a law that you could have an open container in the car (alcohol) while driving. Did I dream that?

jan said...

Interesting thing about religion and alcohol. When I was growing up, my mother took us to several different protestant churches - all pretty fundamentalist. All "preached" about "demon drink" Finally, in my adult years, I joined the Episcopal church. ONe of the things I liked about it was that one's decision to use alcohol was a personal decision - not mandated by dogma. I have never understood why some churches that believe the bible is "God's Word" mandate no alcohol when there are many bible passages that talk about drinking wine and even getting drunk at weddings - as being perfectly ok.

Solar said...

Jan,

Another cool fact...I love reading all about Anthropology b/c they cover the back-ground of the times being discussed...

During the time of Jesus, he was in a city ( while growing up) he hung around some magicians, or something like that, anyway's at the wedding of Cana:

He turned water into wine...(some even suggested that this was his own wedding???) by using a magic pitcher:

There are two holes, and two compartments in the pitchers, if you hold your thumb over one of the holes...you can get water, or wine .....what a miracle no?

Happy to see that the Birthday Boy checked in, and is doing well. Hope you're spending your day just the way you like it Solar. Have fun!

"... been around to long to not know that sometimes that things can go the opposite way of what I want them too."

Yep, Solar - me too.
I never count on anything until it's a done deal.

... and this Solar: "When my Son was growing up, and he would ask me for something...I made sure that he understood that he knew that there were two possibilities....a yes and a no...nothing was to be taken for granted.!"

You've done such a good job raising your son. I figure an important part of our job is making sure they're ready to face the world once they're old enough - and it ounds like he's doing well.

Jan, Memory served you well regarding that open container law here. I looked it up to see exactly when the law changed (to being illegal to carry an open container in your vehicle), and it was only about 9 yrs ago (about half the time we've lived here). We couldn't believe it when we moved here, and we found out it was legal then. Texas Open Container Law- Frequently Asked Questions
