Happy Birthday Big Sis!

She's not exactly a bigger sister, but a sister who I do look up to anyway.

Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Happy B. D. Sis....Hope it's a great day for you.!

Was not able to leave....lots of moving parts going on...and im not moving until the stand still enough to understand them all....

Carol said...

Solar, I hope you can get those moving parts to hold still for a while...

Coreen, was that young pinch hitter, who made the 3 run homer, someone that you knew could do that or was that a unexpected surprise?

Carol said...

I'm still at home. And still in bed. And probably won't go to work today. And it's pouring outside so it's an appropriate day to be under the weather.

Carol, I hope your sister has a wonderful birthday.

I hope you get to feeling better too. That gastointeritis is no fun. I keep a supply of pedialite when I get it. For recovery, I make myself some white rice and apple sauce when I am able to eat again.

Carol said...

Thanks guys for the get well wishes. I've been in the bed all day, well not all day, I do have to make quite a few runs. I am getting the opportunity to catch up on some rest I've been behind on. I know you really can't catch up but I'm trying anyway.

I just came to a realization that it may be Taco Bell. Seems the last time I ate there, I had a similar problem but not as bad. This does have infectious written all over it. Won't tell you why.

Carol said...

Jan, I do boiled potatoes as soon as I can eat again. An old country surgeon, a long time ago, told me that was the best thing to eat. It has worked for me every time and I like potatoes more than rice.

Chloe, batten down the hatches cuz it looks like we may be getting that tropical storm. So far, it's not suppose to develop much over a tropical storm and it will move in quick. Still, I will have to get all the boats out of the water and stuff off the ground out here . I haven't even gotten the two new wheels back on one of my boat trailers. My neighbor's cousin changed the wheel bearings but never came back to put the two new wheels, I ordered, back on. I called him today to do it.

Tropical update on the Weather Channel in two minutes. 50 minutes after the hour.

Coreen, your Yanks seem to like that number 10. I guess they got a taste for it yesterday and liked it. I can't see or hear the game but I can check into that little game day thingy and follow what's going on. You know I'm bored here.

I'm still keeping my eye on Bonnie. She's been changing her mind a lot. Won't know exactly where she's going or how rough she'll be until she gets closer. I have to know whether to pull the fleet out of the water and move all my stuff up off the ground out here.

I just spent time on the phone with ATT to complain about my Iphony dropping calls. When I talk ATT to ATT, I can't hold on to a call long enough to get a sentence out. It's been horrible all day today. I can't get no...satisfaction.

Satisfaction

I was 15 y/o when that song came out. Do you remember where you were?

I do remember listening to that album at my sis's house in Mobile Ala. I spent a summer there when I was 16. We spent of good bit of that summer camping/fishing on Dauphin Island. There wasn't that much on the island at that time. It was a memorable summer.

Carol said...

It was the summer of 1966. Song came out in 1965.

Well back to The Three Stooges but there's a lot more than just three. I turned the news on this morning, ya know, to slap me awake. It's like throwing cold water in the face first thing in the morning.

Well, the first thing I see is one of the regular CNN reporters, losing his dignity, chasing someone at the Ag Dept, and I do mean chasing. They're looking for Cheryl Cook so they can try to get the White House and Obama involved in this Ms Sherrod's mess. I think she may have been the one who told Ms Sherrod that the admin wanted her to stop on the side of the road and phone in her resignation, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.

They call this investigative reporting?????? ROFLMAO

I heard on C2C, that out of the 100 people from that Deep Water Horizon rig they called to testify at a hearing in New Orleans the other day, not one showed up. Heard that BP is rigging phoney photographs to fool us suckers and they won't answer any questions.

BP are the pirates in the Gulf, holding the entire country hostage and the stooges are chasing some secretary. Give me a break.

This whole charade probably has Karl Rove written all over it. He's our SIMS master. Probably has the big Dick involved also. (remember this was all started by one of those right wing stooges) They want our eyes off BP and what better way to get the dogs off than to throw them a good racism bone to fight over. Think about it people. We are sooooo easy. Duh.

Oh, and BP may have been involved in getting the Lockerbie Bomber outta jail so they could make an oil deal with Libia. Seems he ain't dying afterall.

Carol said...

And how many people have these Pirates killed? How many lives have they disrupted? How many lives are they putting in jeopardy?? How much money have they cost this country??? AND THEY ARE STILL RUNNING THIS SHOW PEOPLE!

For far less, we would have sent the army after them.

Carol said...

And Jan, you're special, you got my first text message, ever. I just added texting to my cell phone plan. I don't do texting but when I get one, I sometimes want to text back. I was paying $108/mo and didn't even have texting??? I called last night to fix that. I think I got my bill down a bit last night but if it is like what usually happens when I try to get something adjusted, it probably doubled. I'll watch it.

This is a prayer said in the Catholic churchs in the south. I like it.

"Prayer for Safety in Hurricane Season
O God, Master of this passing world,
hear the humble voices of your children.
The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order
and returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea.
We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control:
the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant,
can awake from its seeming lethargy,
overstep its conventional boundaries,
invade our land,
and spread chaos and disaster.

During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father.
Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid
and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.

O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother,
we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf,
so that spared from the calamities common to this area
and animated with a true spirit of gratitude,
we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son
to reach the heavenly Jerusalem
where a stormless eternity awaits us.
Amen."

Carol said...

That prayer was: "A prayer for hurricane season - written by the bishop of Lafayette after Hurricane Audrey in the 1950's" Audrey took over 500 people in my area.

Carol, when I sent your text message, I just assumed you had texting. I just began texting when I got my new phone about 6 months ago. My grandkids don't like to talk on the phone - they mostly text.

when I lived in LA, there was a hurricane that wiped out a lot of Mississippi gulf coast. I think it was Camille. That was in about 1968 or 69 if memory serves me right.

We will say prayers for you all for this storm.

Carol, in response to what you said above, I think it was Coreen that said earlier, "money drives everything" I think for most men and some women that is true. I am for getting more women in positions of power. Women like Hillary especially. I think what the Sherrod woman did for that one farmer was how women work in situations and that is to help out the "little guy" I think women do care more about education and preventing problems and the environment b/c women care more about future generations rather than having more money and more power. So I am just one of the little people but I vote and I can get out and campaign for the right people in politics and I think the right people are more women who stand up for all us little people. Maybe what we can do is get more women in our age group (and we are a powerful force) to get out and work to get good women in offices of power.

Not sure what happened, another post I thought
was here is not...it was sent right after Carol's post about the hurricane prayer...trying again...

Carol, you are feeling better....though not sure if catching up on the 'news of the day' might just set you back...

as far as the approaching TS Bonnie....hope
it either weakens or goes elsewhere...& a
prayer certainly can not hurt...

I never made it out of here; and I don't think that I have saved my Ohio project....GREED got in the way of doing some fine work for a few years.!!

We were going to partner up with a cpl of people...one was another corporation and I trusted from the start.

The person that I met one year ago, was trusted by someone I know, and seemed like he was straight all the way.

After opening up two new corps with him as the Pres, and me the Vice...we opened up a bank acct. in Ohio.

While I was steering things one way, he was trying to take advantage of it in another way...i found out that he had others sign onto our company, he sold the vice presidency to two other people....

I did not have any $ invested in anything...but did have the ear or the official at Toledo Ohio's top people. I have called them to let them know that, for the time being things were on hold.

Will be working to see if i can save all of the paper work that was done for the past year establishing these two corps....

In a little while I will be going to another wedding, this one is one of my brother Al's daughters...he had 4 and one son...she is the next to last to go.....the last one just got engaged and that will be his last.....won't be reporting this wedding....seen one u seen them all...

Solar said...

Actually that was what he brought to the table....the contacts at Cleveland......I took over from him, just in order to keep control of things......he zigged when I zagged...now all we are going to get, it Nada.....he is going to get a broken jaw when I see him tho......

Carol said...

Sorry Solar, there are very few people who you can trust these days, I'm sorry to have to say. It's a dog eat dog world and I'm keeping my eye on my Magster. Even when you do something nice for someone, they look for another way to take advantage of ya. I've lived and learned.

Coreen, I'm all better today and glad since I'm hungry. Actually quite starved.

Carol said...

Jan, I agree but we still have to be careful with some of those women. There are a couple of nut cases out there.

Solar said...

Glad that u are feeling better.!

Solar, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. What a heart breaker - all that blood, sweat and tears, then the guy went for a quick buck.

Can't you start over bidding the work by yourself, since you're the one with the lead now?

Carol, The map looks like that storm may be north of both of us - although closer to you, if I'm viewing the map correctly (and right smack over New Orleans). But who knows, it could change direction. It wouldn't take much.

Bonnie lands near Miami, headed for Gulf oil spill Bonnie is expected to strengthen when it moves over the Gulf late Friday and Saturday

Ships evacuate spill site as tropical storm nears (AP)

Carol said...

Chloe, my prayers are working. Thanks to all who participated. She's falling apart, almost crippled, but I don't want to get too excited. She keep moving her track over to the east. Yes projected dead on for New Orleans now. Not good for them.

She might not even be a good thunderstorm left in her but she still has some warm waters of the Gulf to go over.

Ya gotta read this:

Can you believe that Rush L was blasting Shep Smith, of Fox News, because he didn't run the, out of context, video of Ms Sherrod? What smelly balls that pig has. Sorry but he brings out the evil in me.

Smith said"

“We on Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons,” Smith said. “Among them: We didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because the history of the videos on the site where it was posted. In short, we did not and do not trust the source.”

Rush Limbaugh: Fox 'caved' on Shirley Sherrod

Way to go Shep, my hero. Yes, I do remember that I fussed at him once but I did apolize. I still love him and I have complimented him every other time. He is the only "fair and balanced" that Fox News has. I'm surprised he hasn't been booted off that Network.

Carol said...

Considering all the news networks, I think Shep Smith tops the list for ethical, responsible journalism.

Carol said...

Well, the Mag and I will take a cart ride. She's bored.

Anonymous said...

I like Shep too, Carol - as far as I'm concerned, he's the best there is (although I rarely watch news anymore, but one of these days something will happen to pull me back in).

As far a Limbaugh goes, I don't ever listen to word he has to say. Always consider the source. Rush Limbaugh doesn't even exist in my world.

... hope you and Mag enjoy your outdoor time together. You've got a whole weekend ahead of you. I just LOVE this time of the year.

Since our great insurance reform was passed, my insurance almost doubled, and Emma's health insurance more than doubled. Yep, that bill really helped us out.
