I went over to Youtube to share one of my favorite videos, clicked to share it, and it showed up here 4 times. I was terrified to go under the hood (log dashboard) to delete the extra's, but knew I had to. Luckily the right ones disappeared.

I think I may be in some kind of strange electrical (or something similar) field this week, because if anything can go wrong, it will.

If you go to Youtube, select a vide, then click on share a menu will come up that allows you to click on blogger and the video turns up at the top of our blog (if anyone else wants to try).

I thought I could accomplish the above, without going over to the dangers post area (where my last blog disappeared the other day... but.

Anyway, as you can see, I've just found another way to not be doing what it is that I'm supposed to be doing.

Have a great day everyone!

ps If anyone has a special request to put up a video, I can try to add it to the one above if you link it for me.

Or, you can share it yourself, and it will provide a new post automatically. It's fun!

BTW, Carol.
There is definitely something weird about Blogger going on. First my comment disappeared, then I redid it and it was on here twice... so I deleted the double entry (as you can see).

It's either Blogger or my strange 'electric field' zone I'm in. Don't know, for sure, which.

Would like to fix a few of the typo's on my first comment above, but I don't dare!

I just clicked on it from the blog and it worked on my computer, Carol. (?)

Here's the youtube link to it:

Can you play other videos on your computer?

I think Cyber Goblins is the perfect word to describe our online problems, Carol.

This is the first definition that popped up when I searched for Goblin: A grotesque elfin creature of folklore, thought to work mischief or evil.

Mischief and evil says it all... although some days are worse (and better) than others. It's always a struggle, though.

The bad days we'll just blame on the 'Cyber Goblin's'. :)

Ok where are Coreen and Jan.? Hello out there

I'm chasing my dinner, lemon chicken wings with some bluBell Mooilleum crunch ice cream that I grated some goldbricking dark Easter eggs into. Yummy

jan said...

I am Here you all.

Chloe, I just played the youtube video by Frankie S. John and I both listened to it all the way through. The ending surprised us. I have heard the song before but have never really listened to the words. Great song except for the end. Thanks for posting it and also thanks for posting instructions on how to post from utube.

jan said...

One of the things I love about the old songs is you can hear all the lyrics and the words usually have a lot of meaning. I am really sounding like an old-timer - Aren't I?

jan said...

Carol, I remember your lemon chicken wings. So yummy. I could never get mine to turn out like yours. I think you have a secret to them.

jan said...

Carol, my favorite Bluebell ice cream is Moolinium crunch. My ALL TIME favorite ice cream is Haagen Dazs vanilla swiss almond. It is to die for. Do not need anything on it. Perfect just like it is. So much fat in it but sooooo delish.

jan said...

I buy the vanilla swiss almond (one pint) on special occasions and eat the entire pint by myself.

jan said...

oops! forgot to mention how my sis is doing. She is doing well. They took out her IV line in her chest and left it open to heal from the bottom -up because of the bad infection. good news is they told her the infection is one that can be treated with several antibiotics - meaning that is not resistant to antibiotics. In this day and age = that is really good news. I think she went home today. She is in good spirits.

jan said...

Well, I may not come here often but when I do - I am a blog hog. Lol

Carol said...

Jan, I got 1/2 gal. Size today. I was running out too fast with the pint size.

Carol said...

Lately, I've been the blog hog, posting and commentsbut I don't care.y"all shouldn't either.

Unknown said...

I'm a lot safer when I stick with the pint sizes, but the half gals. are so much more cost effective... at least that's what I tell myself.

I can't believe it, but I didn't even know there was a Moolinium crunch flavor. I'll have to get some today. Also will try the Haagen Dazs vanilla swiss almond. Since I want to try both, I'll get them in the pint size, but I doubt they'll last long in this house.

Unknown said...

Jan, I love that song (and Frank Sinatra)... but what really also grabs me in that video is that young, little dancer. It just makes the lyrics mean more to me.

I figure someone made that video for a College project or something personal... really like that it is not overly professional. He obviously has some dance training, but not necessarily a lot.

The end of the video doesn't bother me... because I know the whole song just starts over again, just like a cycle.

We're up, we're down... but then we're back up again. The up part probably can't happen as well, without the occasional down.

Unknown said...

I'm so glad that your sister is doing better. I've missed hearing from you also (as I know Carol has).

I think when we come here and share a little, tiny piece of our life... we benefit in some way. We learn from each other.

Unknown said...

Why do I feel like I get all my news, while stumbling around the internet, from 'The Guardian'... thank you, UK.

We now know the government's Tamiflu stockpile wouldn't have done us much good in the event of a flu epidemic. But the secrecy surrounding clinical trials means there's a lot we don't know about other medicines we take

Today we found out that Tamiflu doesn't work so well after all. Roche, the drug company behind it, withheld vital information on its clinical trials for half a decade, but the Cochrane Collaboration, a global not-for-profit organisation of 14,000 academics, finally obtained all the information. Putting the evidence together, it has found that Tamiflu has little or no impact on complications of flu infection, such as pneumonia.

Unknown said...

... I know, undoubtedly, our news here has talked about this (somewhere), but it seems I always hear every thing first, front and center, from The Guardian.

I really resent that our media tries to influence what we focus on... so much.

Not sure how it could get much closer to censorship, but as always, this is 'just' my opinion.

I usually feel like we're being duped.

RebelliousRenee said...

Just came back from grocery shopping. I bought a half gallon of Eddie's orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream… it taste just like a creamsicle.

I really shouldn't be eating too much ice cream…
but you know what… it's all you guys fault! :)

RebelliousRenee said...

Chloe… I really don't believe there is such as thing as "free press" anywhere in this world. I don't believe the Brits are anymore truthful than this country. Their media is infamous for being tabloid like and sensational. IMO, it's best to read many sources and try to distinguish the truth in between the lines… although at times that can be difficult.

just my 2 cents...

jan said...

Renee, orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream sound good.

Unknown said...

Renee,

I agree with you, regarding your doubt that there is 'free press' anywhere in the world, and know that everyone has an agenda.

I just like to get news from 'The Guardian', because they seem to be 'free' with the news from over here (for obvious reasons), whether it is flattering or not. I'm sure they're more guarded about what's happening in their own country.

I do hunt for my news, and make up my own mind... but, still resent it when our government (and everyone else) tells us how they're sharing everything with us, and we know for a fact they're not (and maybe can't, I don't know, but that's not my point).

I've been hearing my whole life that we have more freedom than anyone else in the world, and most specifically 'freedom of speech'... that was supposedly what set us apart from most other parts of the world. So I think it understandable that I complain about being lied to, no matter how necessary those lying think it to be.

I think that makes our government, and my extension our media... and everyone else out there trying to sell us something, hypocritical.

... I guess, in their opinion, that's not a bad thing. They apparently think it's a good thing, because they have to keep the masses under control.

I don't really focus that much on this stuff, just don't ignore it either.

Unknown said...

Your ice cream sounds delish. When I was a kid, the 50/50 bar (that's what they called vanilla/orange way back then) was my favorite. Things came up yesterday, and I didn't get my ice cream, but will today.

Also, I think I'll make enchilada's this weekend. You can't get them out as good as the ones you can make at home.

Now there's a miracle! I'm going to cook.

Coreen said...

Chloe…
if you get the English Al Jazeera channel, IMO it's the best straight news channel that I've seen. It reports news from all over the world without any sensationalism or left/right bent. It reminds me of the old CNN with Ted Turner at the helm.

I don't watch it everyday… but when I do, so far I'm impressed.

Coreen said...

I have had the NYT delivered daily for more than 20 years & have to say that more often than not, I am no longer in agreement with the editorial content of the paper of record...

I keep saying one of these days I have to get rid of them, but it does still have some interesting information...

I do find myself having to sift between the facts & the opinion which permeates just about every article written, regardless of their claim that their 'news' pieces are straightforward w/o
a writer's views interjected, that's just not the case...

Hey… did you guys know that New Englanders eat more ice cream than any other part of this country. It's like after a long hard winter we all go crazy and eat as much of the stuff as we can. All the ice cream stands are opening up this weekend around here even though there's still snow on the ground. I guarantee they will be mobbed!

sorry… I don't know how to hyper link

Unknown said...

Why New Englanders Eat So Much Ice Cream

I, for one, eat more Ice Cream in the winter than I do in the heat. It tastes better in a colder climate, for some reason.

My theory is what Carol said, it has lots of fat and calories, which the body needs when it's cold out... or in Carol's case, helps you gain weight (although I can't even imagine 'wanting' to do that). :)

I don't really think the ice cream would be that much better... one place than another, except as it pertains to supply and demand. Down here, it's hard to compete with Blue Bell, as it has a good, un-fatty taste about it, and when you live in a hot climate, the last thing you crave is ultra fatty food (ideally, that would be preferable, anyway).

Icee's are so popular in hot areas, surely because they simply and quickly cool you down.

Geographical differences (I think) always have a reason.

Unknown said...

I think I know why we all eat so much ice cream.

... because it's so good!!

jan said...

Interesting about New Englanders and ice cream. In OK, Braums Dairy has ice cream places in OK, TX and other states within 100 miles. It is good ice cream - like Bluebell - which is in TX. Oklahomans like their ice cream too.

jan said...

John and his family members eat lots of ice cream too.

jan said...

When I was growing up in rural OK. We made ice cream on sat or sun nights- in those big tubs where you put ice and salt - We would take turns sitting on the tub while daddy turned the crank. That was the highlight of the summer evenings. My mother liked her homemade ice cream with puffed wheat on top. I liked mine vanilla and plain. It was so good.

One more for the road...
Them Vs Us Mentality - Is it Dividing Us?
Them Vs Us Mentality - Is it Dividing Us?
It seems to me that yes, the "Them vs. Us" mentality is unnerving and one of the issues in the sound and fury of human societies and civilizations. This occurs because the easiest way to build a team is to pick an enemy and call up in arms to fight against something or someone rather than with working someone or for something.

Leaders, even natural leaders choose the path of least resistance to gather their armies (real or figuratively) using such primate politic tactics. But then again so do Chimpanzees. Remember these folks are only human, not much to work with.

Now then, one could say that is an unfair comment, but is it really? After all, the primate politics battles that we are witnessing on TV and in the mainstream media, are dividing us and like that famous quotation; "Divide and Conquer" are we so busy conquering ourselves that we fail to see the utter destruction we are causing?

We are all in this together, and we will either succeed together or fail together, so we need to ask ourselves, which is it going to be? If change is what we seek, then we need to change incrementally and for the right reasons if we want to secure the right results.

... this article is referring to politics, but think it may pertain to most human relations.
Great day, everyone!

Unknown said...

... oops, good to see you, Jan.

I'm dashing out of here, since I've spent too long indulging myself this morning.

RebelliousRenee said...

Chloe… thanks for hyperlinking that article for me. I know, I know… I have to learn how to do it myself and stop acting like such a luddite.

Coreen… I didn't mean to ignore you this morning. I agree that most of us try to find sources of news that aligns with our own point of view.

Hey… our boys are playing against each other… game one to you. As for this "controversy" concerning pine tar on your pitcher's hand last night… yeah, like they all don't try to do it. I only watched the first 2 innings (switched over to the Bruins hockey game). I hear your pitcher was really good and our boys weren't hitting. Methinks the baseball talk show hosts are just drumming up some drama to try to get fans to be more into the sport. And the beat goes on….

jan said...

I agree Chloe, the reason we like ice cream is - it is so good!

jan said...

There is really nothing quite like ice cream.

jan said...

I was pregnant with my youngest son while living in Argentina - in 1965-66. We had refrigerators but frozen foods were scarce. I suppose there were commercial freezers in restaurants. There was not much ice cream. You did not buy it at the Almacen (grocery story). One night I was craving ice cream and Bob when out searching for some for me. He was very kind to me in those years - that changed. He found some at a restaurant in a hotel where we stayed when we first got there. When he brought it home it was not in a carton, but wrapped in heavy butcher paper. It was not really runny but was softer than ice cream we buy here. The butter fat content was very high. It was good. BTW, our milk, that first year we were there, was delivered to our door in a bottle and in a horse drawn carriage.

This is the page with how to link, Renee... How to Post Links in Blogger Comments
... but we all agreed a long time ago that it's just as easy for everyone to just copy and paste if we prefer that, and that's always easier when we're in a hurry. The way you did it is just fine. Even once you get it the formula way, it still can get confusing sometimes. It just took me a few times to get it right. I messed up one of the formula's and it was hard to see which one it was. The comment wouldn't accept my HTML until I got them both right. It can be a real pain.

The way Jan linked her pics worked easily too, because I just copied and pasted her exact words in my search bar, and the sight came right up (hopefully it's the right one). Really beautiful pics, make sure to check out the ones on the bottom of the page too.

A bear was here last night. But luckily, my bird feeders were safe inside my house. My feeder station is a contraption my father built for me. It's a steel pole with long bolts sticking out. Since I'm short, we put long aluminum pins and ess hooks onto the bolts… it's a way of lowering the feeders so that I can reach them in order to take them down and refill them.

The pins and hooks were on the ground this morning when I went to put my feeders back up. The only thing that could reach them and take them down is a bear.

Thank god I started taking the feeders in earlier than I usually do.

Guys, I need a new wifi option. What would you suggest? This Verizon is not cutting it and I'm probably paying a fortune for it. I just can't get the connection speed,

Carol, I just now checked my email and got the one you sent with your phone number that you sent 3 days ago. The mail.com site is the pits.

Have you solved your Window's 8 problems.

Unknown said...

... what am I talking about? No one has solved their Windows 8 problems!

jan said...

We use comcast here for wifi as well as TV and phone It is expensive. But it works well most of time. We also have the DVR box. We don't do anything but basic cable for TV

Carol said...

Chloe, my problem is my internet connection speed. Its too slow and weak. They told me I needed something better. I told them I had to have something mobile since I also needed it at my camp. They suggested thatbi get something better for my home and use my Verizon at the camp

Unknown said...

That sounds like good advice, Carol.

Verizon is limited. Didn't you say you have Dish Network before. You can call them and ATT, or whoever else might offer service in your area. The price for unlimited is actually very reasonable (usually).

I mentioned we did finally get UVerse (AT&t) wiring out here, and we have an order in for a few days after Easter for them to come out to install it.

I've been waiting for them to get out this far for a long time, although I have been happy with the AT&T we've had so far... it's just that the new lines will be about 5 times faster.

The package we get will be everything we used to have on DirecTv also, but for a fraction of the cost, since phone, WIFI and and TV package are all included in one bundle.

You can get online and easily search for what's offered in your zip code. Then once you know, call for options and prices.

Carol said...

Chloe, I have Dish for tv. I'll check into getting an internet connection also. Until I do , my computers are pretty much useless. I've been using my IPad more now. It works better than mySurface right now. The Surface keeps telling me that I'm not connected I am using it nod to read the blog. Incan do a few things on it. I did buy a windows8.1 for dummies for my Kendal. Haven't learned much yet. After what you told me , I'm paranoid of this operating system.

jan said...

We cannot get Uverse in NM. I checked.

Unknown said...

Carol,

We had trouble getting 8 to connect to the internet too... and we have a good WIFI that works well on our 7 and other computers.

We'd call 8 customer support, they'd finally work with us to finally get a connection, and the next time we'd turn on the computer, it wouldn't work again.

Network Connections should be easily (fairly) figured out and mostly automatic, except for passwords. But not with 8... at least for us.

No matter what though, you're smart to get a good WIFI set up. If you do use ATT WIFI, be sure to get a price both ways: WIFI only and then the whole TV pkg. You may end up saying money with the pkg. rather than having different companies for each service.

Unknown said...

... and there is no dish involved. It'll all come through the phone line.

Carol said...

What is This "uverse" you guys are talking about??

I don't even have a AT&T land line except that cheap plug in thing. AT&T kept ripping me off with my old land line.

jan said...

I don't know if you all watch DWTS any longer but it is worth a watch to see Meryl Davis and Charlie White dance. They won the ice dancing gold medal at the Olympics this year. John and I loved their performances at the Olympics and love watching them on DWTS now. They are both charming and have stolen America's hearts. They are such good winners because they are humble and wish each other well despite being competitors now on DWTS. If you get an opportunity to see them skate on TV, it is worth the time.

Coreen said...

Carol, ATT calls it's fiber optic
delivery system 'uverse' which offers TV, phone, hi speed internet services...

I have ATT broadband internet connection, but not through ATT fiber optic system, but the old ATT outlet in the wall...however, I have been told by ATT if I want a faster speed internet connect I will have to switch to the fiber optic system...so far mine works fine, but I don't think they offer that to new service any longer...

I still have a land line & cell phone both through ATT as are all my office phones/internet...but I do not have 'uverse' services...

I do not have my TV through ATT either, still have it through cable which around here is Cable vision...

Both Cablevision (Optimum) & ATT are constantly bombarding me with
'deals' to 'bundle' those services through them...but I don't buy into the hype...

I do know that if you have a land line through ATT uverse, if your
electricity goes out, you do not have phone service...that is not the case with the old fashioned outlet in the wall (as long as the phone does not use electricity as some of the new desk models need) the old time
wall outlet phones still work during a power failure...

Also, I am told that internet through your cable provider is much faster than the fiber optic
services...& in power failure you do not have tv, whether cable or fiber optic...even with a generator I did not have TV (cable) the couple of times I lost electricity...though I did have internet because the connect was through the old fashioned telephone line...

Don't know anyone around here that has satellite/dish tv & whatever they may offer, though I do see a lot of those dishes on houses in the city area, more so than the suburbs...Cable is the prime delivery service for TV in this area...

jan said...

Cable is prime delivery service here too. It is expensive but works well.

jan said...

Our communication services such as computer, land line, cell phones, TV are the major part of our bills. Elect and gas and water are much less. It is the communication age for sure.

jan said...

I think when our Verizon contract is over in a year, John and I will probably opt for something very low tech and much lower in cost. We don't use our cell phones much except for calls and texts. We really do not use other services and as I look at finally retiring, will not use very much unless there is a drastic change of some kind.

jan said...

Actually, our utilites and communication systems are about the same each month.

Unknown said...

Great information, Coreen!

It all came down do cost both effective and efficiency for us. I've considered the power outage factor, but I figure during a power outage, entertainment is the least of our problems. Also, thankfully, we now have a good whole house generator.

... and as Coreen said, you need a wired phone to have no loss of phone service during a power outage. Land lines are so much less important for calls now, because so many of us depend on our cell.

As far as internet connection and TV/Movie streaming, in our house we want speed. That's what excited me most about the UVerse, along with the fact that's it's so much cheaper than direct TV (DirecTV is so overpriced... it bugged me).

Unknown said...

Haven't heard any complaints here from anyone with UVerse, only good things.

ATT is a great company, but we don't use their cell phones because we've heard many say their carrier drops a lot of calls. We can't afford to have that happen. Cell phones take priority over land lines for us.

That said, I, for one, appreciate the way Coreen laid out the pro's and con's of all sides. She did a much better job of it than I could ever do... agree with everything she said.

ps People here do have cable, but mostly only those in apartments because it's pre-installed. This is now such a huge area, that life has change really quickly. Cable has begun to phase out (here).

Unknown said...

... off to take M to the park.

Will take my cell to check in to the site (those things sure do come in handy... especially since they always keep you connected to the web).

ps
Jan, you might want to check into one of those companies that charge a flat monthly fee for everyone... I think it's about $45 month for internet, unlimited calling and text message and everything... but cheaper if you don't want it all. Out here they have 'Cricket' and 'Boost' (off the top of my head).

Have a good one, all!

Carol said...

Guys, I called dish to try to set up their internet service and the guy said it would probably not meet my needs . They work with AT&T Uverse so I'm gonna use them. It is a self setup so I hope I can manage it.

Going to link this, so you will make sure you do your updates on your new slate.

“Windows 8.1 Update is a cumulative update to Windows 8.1,” said Microsoft Senior Product Marketing Manager Ben Hunter in an apparently innocuous blog post aimed at IT professionals. Then came the clanger: “It also becomes the new servicing baseline for Windows 8.1, so next month’s security updates (on May 13th, the next ‘Patch Tuesday’) will be dependent on Windows 8.1 Update.”

In English: If you have not installed Update 1 by 13 May then Windows 8.1 will no longer receive security updates until you do. This is your 4 week countdown warning.

I up that morning, wentboutbon the back porch and there stood a possum, baring his teeth. They are seriously ugly animals. I tried hitting it with mybpoolmpole. Wouldn't budge. MI called Greta. She said she wouldvbrina bb gun. That was better than what inhad, a pool pole. She did show yo with her guns a bb pistol and a bb shot gun. To use the rifle, yea have to pump it. It takes quite a bitbof pressure anndbon one pull , inhit myself in the ribs on the Rt side. I felt the rib popalong with intense pain. I could swear insawvthatvpossum laugh. I later grabedva bottle ofvclorox kitchen cleaner and sprayed it in his face

OMG Carole…. I know I shouldn't laugh at your pain… but that scene you painted between you and that possum read like a cartoon. Hope you heal fast.

Jan… happy belated birthday!

Carol,

I am so sorry for what happened because of that opossum... I really, really am afraid of them (actually, I have a phobia of them and rodents.. I even cringe at the thought).

The one you encountered must have been rabid, or it wouldn't have been so aggressive. They normally just take off when they see a human. Any feral animal is extremely dangerous.

All you needed... the pain of yet another broken rib.

I am having cell phone problems, and am going down to Sprint today to have them straightened out.

I think the main problem is my new phone number, so it will probably be changed today. I will text it to you if it is.

Jan, Happy (belated) Birthday!

Sorry I didn't know about it... apparently it is in April? What a beautiful month to be born in. Hope it was great.

... please let us know how you celebrated!

Renee,

I, too, received my 'Goldfinch' in the mail.

It'll be a while before I can start it, but can't wait. Easter is a really big deal for kids, and have been busy preparing for Emma's party at school. Thank goodness these schools have such big holiday celebrations, that makes it easier to prepare for them with Emma.

Sunday we will be going out to a nice buffet that a Landry's sets up every year... so we won't have to cook. I'm looking forward to every thing, except the crowd.

It's in The Woodlands, because that's where the nicest restaurants are here. It shouldn't take more than 15 or 20 minutes to get there, since there 'shouldn't be much traffic Sunday (one of the few good things about holidays in my mind).

... there's no school tomorrow, so I am sure to have a busy three days.

When M is off school, there's very little me time. By Monday, I am sure to be in need of some unwinding and regrouping.

Oy!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My daughter in law made me a cake and we had dinner at their house. I have wonderful kids. They always call or see me. Birthdays are a big deal in my family. We do something for everyone's birthday.

Chloe, enjoy M's time off with you. I loved Easter as a kid. We colored lots of eggs and hid them and hunted them until they were all broken. No plastic eggs. Only the real thing. Never ate them. Mother always made or bought us an Easter outfit including hats and gloves. When I think of that, I think that is so funny. And then there was always an Easter picture of all of us with the family kodak.

Carol, what finally happened to the possum after you sprayed it in the face?
