Mother nature giveth and mother nature taketh away

We all enjoy the beauty mother nature gives us but then she decides to show her nasty side with destructive storms.

I caught an early morning  sunrise.  I haven't seen one is a while.  It only last a minute or two and I miss it if I'm not watching for it.
My little grape tomato plant has lots of little tomatoes on it.
Can you smell the lovely scent of the gardenia Coreen?
This is a mimosa tree blooming on the camp road.
A wild flower blooming on the side of the camp road.
The morning glory's have taken over the trees.
This is an interesting bush in a neighbor's yard.  Don't know what it is.

Carol, loving the pics...want to reach out & pick that gardenia...

I also like the mimosa tree...you see them here & there, mostly closer to LI Sound, not inland...

Morning glory remind me of old
gardens, established gardens...

Can't remember seeing a sunrise recently, guess I don't get up early enough...

Renee, am sure you & rick will enjoy the week's break from everyday routine...looks like the weather will be cooperating too, no storms on the horizon...

Leaving the tech toys behind, good way to clear one's head, we all probably need to do that every so often...

Carol said...

Coreen, I planted two mimosa trees in my yard at the house years ago. One died and one lived for years but just died last year. Unfortunately, they spread their seeds everywhere and are all over my yard. I say unfortunately because they seem to want to come up along the cement and their roots are pushing up the cement.

Carol said...

Coreen, I wake up early, too early, but then fall asleep and miss that sunrise. When I worked, I caught it frequently.

RebelliousRenee said...

Gorgeous sunset! Beatiful flowers!

Carol... Rick and I frequently go the beaches in Southern Maine.... whenever we see someone taking a picture of their lobster dinner... we, and all the New England natives snicker and think "must be from Kansas, Iowa, or someplace like it"...

the thought that it would be me making a spectacle of myself by taking those pictures just don't sit right....

Carol said...

Silly girl Renee. Some of those people may have a blog or work in food editing.

To me, a nice meal is a work of art like any other work of art. Maybe you have to really be into cooking to appreciate that. I took a video camera into a really nice Whole Foods in Seattle until a manager made me stop. I guess they thought I was a spy. Now, I've never taken pics of a meal in a restaurant, only stuff I've cooked. I've posted pics of some of the stuff I cooked here. Someone on my Facebook posts pics of stuff she cooks. I enjoy looking at them. It's OK if you want to call me a spectacle. I'm sure I've been called worse. And one really nice advantage of getting old, probably the only advantage, I don't care what people think about me anymore.

Carol said...

Also, one thing nice about a smartphone, no one would notice if you're using it to take pics.

Carol said...

TWC and CNN are both talking about hurricanes. Today starts that season. I don't want to hear about it. Prefer to maintain some denial.

Carol said...

One of my pet peeves at a restaurant is parents letting their unruly children run wild. I was at a very nice place in Seattle, on the Sound, and this couple next to us has several children running, screaming and stomping crackers into the carpet. Ruined my meal. They didn't seem to notice. The kids were old enough to be disciplined.

jan said...

Beautiful pictures Carol. I can almost smell the gardenia.

jan said...

There is nothing more beautiful than a sunrise or sunset. Yours is spectacular. All the flowering plants are lovely.

jan said...

Renee, enjoy your vacation. I used to beg John to leave all the technology behind on vacations. Finally gave up.

jan said...

I love to watch young children in all kinds of settings, but I too dislike it when children are running loose and parents sit by and allow it to happen.

My SIL was telling about going to a concert recently and having to sit through it with a baby crying behind her. No excuse for that. The parents are irresponsible.

Carol said...

Jan, how's your knee doing?

Carol said...

Last night I ran across the hockey game. It was on NBC or I probably wouldn't have. Since it was Renee's team playing, I stopped for about 15 minutes to watch. Didn't have a clue what was going on. Made me a little dizzy. Almost looked like a boxing match. I was wondering if that is usual to have that many fights??

I had trouble finding the puck. There was a little tiny something stuck to my TV screen and I kept thinking it was the puck. I did clean that off.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... ROFL!

Yeah... they do fight in hockey. But it's the playoffs and they don't fight as much as in the regular season.
If you're squeamish about it... it's not the sport for you.

As for seeing the puck.... thank god for high definition television. If you watch, you get used to automatically seeing the puck.

And my guys are the underdogs in this series.... and they won! 3-0.

RebelliousRenee said...

Waving goodbye now....

I'll see you guys next weekend...

Everyone take care!

jan said...

Bye Renee.

Carol, my knee is better. I am sleeping better at night. Still hurts but not as much. I am using the walker mainly to steady myself. I leaned on it too much the first day and my hands were a little bruised. John bought me a basket for it so I can get my own water and snacks. I was able yesterday to keep kitchen sort of clean and do a little laundry. I have not been out of the house since Thursday. We are going over to Bill's house for dinner tonight. I am anxious to see GS and see how he is doing. He is wearing a sling on the shoulder he dislocated. He will wear that until his surgery in a week. The docs don't want it dislocated again.

jan said...

youngest son in ARK slipped and sprained something in lower leg last night. My GD called and told me. At first they did not know if it was broken. He went to ER. He is in a lot of pain, but is home.

Carol said...

Have a blast Renee. I do wish I was there. Haven't had a vacay in over 7 years. I plan to do it this year. I have some making up to do.

Gee, there aren't as many fights in the playoffs. After what I saw last night, the regular games must be a constant brawl.

Carol said...

Glad your knee is better Jan. Don't push it.

Carol said...

It's going to be a stormy day today. I don't mind that, a rainy day is kinda nice as long as it's not a Oklahoma rainy day. I need to get Maggie out but she refused because she knew some thunder was getting close. Looks like she may have missed her best chance. Hope she is better in holding her urine than I am.

Carol said...

Just heard that 3 experienced storm chasers were among the 9 killed in that last Oklahoma tornado. Mike Bettes and his crew came very close as did another storm chasing crew who filmed a very scary chase.

Coreen said...

Amazed, looked out at the hisbiscus on the front steps this a.m. & there were 3 large rose-pink flowers in full bloom...

It's still hot & humid, but I was able to transfer the New Guineas to pots before the sun came over, luckily yesterday my plumber came & fixed the broken
water pipe in the garage that froze over the winter, so I have water outside the garage again...yeah...

The hazy, hot, humids are supposed to break overnight when a front comes through from the midwest with
rain/stormy weather...hopefully the week will be back to the 70s...

Carol said...

We have lots of hibiscus around here. If there potted, we have to protect them if we have a hard freeze. I see lots of large ones in yards out here and I doubt they do anything to protect them.

Carol said...

My plumbing guy was supposed to come to my house today. I figured the weather canceled that but I just talked to him and he is looking for the right size machine to do the job. He will call me if he can find one. He works for a big AC/plumbing contractor but does work on the side. We have had a little break in the weather and it looks like most of it is down south right now. I hope I can get the pipe cleared before I need to wash clothes again.

Carol said...

When I think of how much it costs to keep up my places, I just think about what you, Coreen, pay in taxes and I don't feel as bad.

jan said...

Got out and went to lunch and to the fabric store to buy some thread for sewing projects. Used a cane. It worked fine but do not want to be out for long. Was great to get out of the house. Back again and ac on now. Temps outside are in 80's, I think.

Carol said...

I've been back at the house all afternoon with the plumber. No luck yet. I'm going to have that part of the plumbing changed when he can get to it. Nothing but trouble with an old house.

On iPhone so can't check your links yet. I gave up heels years ago and often don't wear a bar anymore. If hits in a bad place on my back. I do wear a seat belt. It saves lives. The other two hurt too much.

Carol said...

I really don't need a bra. That distressed me when I was young but now it's a blessing.

jan said...

PBS station here having a Downton Abbey marathon. I am not watching it. Have seen enough to last until the next season starts.

jan said...

I agree about bras and hi heels. Have not worn any heels for years. I do have a couple of wedgees that are about 1 1/2 inches at back but don't wear those any longer either. I don't wear a bra all the time. I wear clothing that does not need one. I seldom wear slacks. I wear skirts and a knit top with a shirt jacket most of time.

I am such a failure at putting up a link to something that moves me. I just saw a video from CNN that was amazing. If you are interested, please paste this on google and see if you get the video. You won't be sorry.

jan said...

Another title to this is simply "embrace the shake"

Carol said...

I did put your link up. The formula to do it is a pain in the ass but it makes it a tad easier for someone to go to it. Not really that much easier. Cut and paste is almost as easy. I haven't watched it yet. I'm watching something on TV right now. I check it out later.

Art that embraces our limits

Carol said...

There's an interview with Maggie Smith on 60 minutes. Jan, if you check in you can catch it. It's at the end of the program.

Carol said...

Well my plumbing work didn't work. He has to come back tomorrow with the right size reamer. I think I just wasted a bunch of money. He was usually cheaper but he didn't have the equipment he needed. I couldn't very well tell him that he just wasted both of our time and my money. I find people that seem to be a good deal but after a while, they don't turn out to be.

Carol said...

I feel really sad about the death of those storm chasers. I spent a good bit of time over the last couple of weeks watching tornado chasing videos thinking the entire time..it's a matter of time before some of those guys are killed by a tornado. I even Googled to see if any had been killed before. No matter how experienced they are, they are pushing the limits and mother nature isn't predictable. The head of the team killed had been doing the work for 30 years. His luck ran out. His wife lost both her husband and her son. That's sad.

They keep saying he died doing what he loved but I don't think those guys actually acknowledge that they could die any minute. Mike Bettes, of TWC certainly has reconsidered ever chasing tornadoes again after his near death experience. I don't think he is OK dying doing something he loves.

jan said...

Carol, missed the Maggie Smith interview. Went out to Bill's house. GS is doing ok. Wish you could meet him. He is a really sweet kid. Good looking too. What a bummer - to be young and have seizures. He is wanting a service dog. He was at a friend's house when he had the first seizure Thurs night. She has a little chiwawa dog and she told GS that just before he had the seizure, the dog started barking and was looking at him. He is living at home now and his parents did not want another dog (the other one died about 2 years ago. Now they are considering it.

jan said...

So sad about the storm chasers.

Carol said...

The LIM shows are good tonight. I don't know which is the new one but the two I've seen tonight are both new to me.

Carol said...

There are dogs that can sense impending seizures. I wonder if most dog pets can. Dogs are sensitive. Just found this article.

Seizure-Alert Dogs Save Humans With Early Warnings

Carol said...

Evidently they can't train a dog to detect seizures. It may be difficult to find a seizure alert dog. I think that your GS's friend just may have one.

Carol said...

Jan, I watched that Ted Talk on "art that embraces." The talent that guy has has got to be something channeled from somewhere else. Whether he is thinking inside or outside the box, that gift is coming from outside the planet. His talent is a phenomena.

Carol said...

Thanks for sharing that Ted Talk video Jan. It was fascinating.

Carol said...

Seems there are people with certain deficits that have some type of unusual talent. Certain types of mental illness is associated with artist talent. I read that brain damage sometimes brings out unusual artist talent. I'm hoping with all my deficits I can find some artist talent. I'm pretty much prepared with supplies, I'm going to have to work on finding some talent.

jan said...

Glad you liked the artist. He is so unusual. He seems to be interested in how he can use creativity. He is also a great speaker. I liked the fact that he was not dressed like he was going to do a speaking engagement. He is sort of a Mr. Rogers character with his buttoned up sweater.

Carol, the doc in the box prescribed Salsalate tablets 2000mg taken 2 twice a day. I have taken them 4 days now and this morning had a terrible rash across my chest. I did not think about the rash until a few minutes agao when I took a shower. It is a rash of almost bloody bumps and very itchy and now painful. Cannot stand for any clothing to touch it. I put some desitin ointment on it and took some benedryl and called the pharmacy. Do you think I am allergic to it. Have not eaten anything different. BTW, my mother was allergic to ASA.

I thought it would be easier to call and talk to you instead of doing my assessment online

Carol, enjoyed our telephone visit. Lets not lose our momentum to get together this coming fall.

jan said...

Enjoying all the music on the Voice. I especially liked Amber's version of "Crazy." One of my favorite songs. My guess it will be Holly who will leave.

Michelle and Sasha were both excellent.

Carol said...

I agree Jan, and so was Amber. I broke down and voted last night..for Usher, Shakira and Adam's artists. I like Danielle but she has a good fan base. I know how much the other coaches don't want their last artist to leave. They are like mama birds protecting their babies. Daneille is young and cute but she's no better than the others. I also agree that it's Holly's turn to go. I'd then send the boys packing even though I do like them also.

Crazy is one of my favs. Your boy Willie wrote it, I'm sure you know, and no one can touch Patsy Cline's version of it even though Amber did a good job of making it her own.

Did you hear the controversy about Adam from last week? When two of his artist's were eliminated they said he said...I hate America. It pissed people off. Not me. I know he was just feeling the grief and sometimes...I feel the same way..when I don't like the way the majority vote. That probably happens more often than not since I don't often agree with the majority. America is a big girl and she can take it.

Carol said...

It may have been my imagination but it seemed the other coaches were cautious about how much praise they gave Blake's team. They seemed to be sticking together. I think someone from Blake's team won the last two seasons.

Carol said...

I saw in the news that MSNBC has been taking a beating in the ratings lately. I think that is because they are stuck only on politics, ignoring other breaking news, and I think many people, even the political junkies are kinda burned out on. I certainly am and I see it elsewhere also. Politics has gotten to be so silly, stupid. I'm tired of hearing about all those political morons. They aren't worth talking or hearing about.

jan said...

Carol, look at your e-mail.

Carol said...

Check your email.

jan said...

Is Adam from England. I don't detect an accent.

I didn't vote, but had I voted I would have voted for Michele and Sasha.

Carol said...

Just heard that gov Christie is calling for a special election to elect a new congressman to replace the one who just died. I respect him for that. He could have just appointed a Repub.

Carol said...

I only voted so I wouldn't feel quilty if one of the coaches with only one singer left would get that singer eliminated. Guilt constantly torments me. I can find so many things to feel quilty about.

Carol said...

Adam is from the USA. He was just pissed at those voting. I can relate to that and I'm an American.

Coreen said...

Chris Christie is the real deal...like him or not...he does

Isn't New Jersey a Dem state Coreen? He's not appointing a Dem, he's letting the voters decide. I respect him for that. Most politicians don't care what the voters want, they only care about their party. I think he's a breath of fresh air.

Carol said...

I have to keep moving my evening walking to later in the evening because of the heat. I still make myself do it. I almost didn't get back before the Voice started. Two of my favs made it thru the eliminations. You'll be happy also Jan.

Carol said...

Amber and Danielle sang together tonight and I think I like Amber's voice better than Danielle's.

Carol said...

I'm even happier now. All three of my peeps made it tonight. I'm sure it was my votes that put them through. Not.

Carol said...

I find it interesting that those commercials for prescription drugs on TV list all those horrible side effects even death. Who would want to go to their docs and ask for one of them. When they get a script from their doctors for most of their meds, I don't think most patients really pay attention to side effects. Unfortunately, I already know the side effects and am scared to death of most drugs.

jan said...

I too am scared of drugs until I am in a lot of pain.

Carol, Yes Michelle and Sasha made it through.

I do like Gov. Christie. I think he is a good guy.

jan said...

Knee feels better tonight after getting some GOOD drugs. That Salsalate was not good. Now have prednisone. Just 25 mg for 5 days.

jan said...

Well, cannot enter any sports contests - lol.

jan said...

We watched America's got talent tonight. Nice to see some variety. Just cannot get interested in any other TV programs.

Carol said...

Jan, I don't know if I would go as far as to call prednisone a good drug. Yes, it is very effective for many things but...it has it's issues. It can F with the immune system. It's a hormone. Hope you slept OK. It can also keep you up.

Carol said...

I had to laugh as I looked at how each of the Voice coaches looked so endearingly at their last singer while they sang last night. You would think they were one of their parents. You could see the pride and the love in their eyes. It just made me love those coaches so much more. I wonder if others are feeling the same way I am. The last singer for the three with only one left were in the top 4 saved. And we were right, it was Holly who was eliminated. Still felt bad for her. I hope they all have a career.

Carol said...

I did watch America's Got Talent. Those judges were interesting. They seemed to be nice also. Maybe nice is a new trend. I hope so. I only saw the first half then I got a phone call from one of my old work buddies. I didn't mind missing the rotten acts and I'll see the good ones again. Up until I got the call, I can't say I was that impressed even with the one they voted to go through. I just don't know how many times that guy can miss getting struck by a rattlesnake for entertainment. I guess some people like brutal entertainment.

Carol said...

Speaking of brutal entertainment, I heard stuff about the end of this season's Game of Thrones. I know nothing about the series but evidently the finale was horrible with a lot of killing in it. Do we really need that right now, with all the real killings we have by crazy murderers and mother nature??

Carol said...

It's amazing how many channel we now have to watch on cable but how many programs they have on those channels not worth watching.

I heard that this week on HLN, they all go to jail. They want to experience what it's like on the inside. They have been announcing for a while that...Nancy Grace goes to jail. That might be worth me watching one more time. I'd like to see her in jail. A day may softener her a little. But with her toughness, she'd fit right in. I think that her jail experience airs tonight.

The entire correctional system is out of control here in the US. It's a big business for some and it's costing us taxpayers a fortune. There's seldom any rehab, it just creates bigger criminals. The other night they had one of the TV judges on and he had spent some time in prison as a youth. When he got out, he got some help with his education and now he's a judge. He was talking about how expensive it is to keep one inmate incarcerated..said around 36,000 thou a year. For the money, we end up creating bigger, tougher criminals. That money could better be invested to educate and train a person for a productive, tax paying life. I often pondered that while working in corrections and I agree.

Carol said...

I heard a little of our local news last night where they were talking about changing some laws here in La to reduce the jail time for simple drug possession. You wouldn't believe how expensive it can get to keep someone in jail and many come in because they found a piece of a joint on them..after they stopped them because they were just walking through their own neighborhoods, minding their own business. Too often I had those peeps in medical with all kinds of expensive things they needed or wanted fixed. Many have no money for a lawyer or for bail so they just sit in jail waiting their turn for the over loaded public defenders. It's just crazy. Most involved don't see the effects of all that.

Carol said...

The hospital that contracted me for the jail is closing their ER and inpatient care. They now will only have some clinics open. The inmates who need more than what they can provide at the jail will now have to go to an out of town charity hospital or a local, full pay, hospital. I timed my exit just right. I always cared about how expensive things were even thought no one else seemed to. It's a worry I'm glad I no longer have.

Carol said...

Another thing I think is a damn shame is going after young people who have sex with another younger person. Most young people are having sex but are lucky enough not to get caught. I've seen what is does to those young people who are incarcerated charged with a sex crime and labeled for life. You might as well shoot them, their lives are essentially over. I just think that unless it's an assault, young people should not be charged for having sex.

jan said...

Carol, well - the jail could not replace you so they are just closing it down. I am not surprised.

I did not sleep well last night. I don't think I slept more than about one or 2 hours.

jan said...

My knee is better but it did hurt last night. I did not take the pain med. I am going to work at 8 am and do not want to take a chance on being "under the influence." I am working until 1 pm so will come home and nap.

Carol said...

People often complain of not being able to sleep when they take prednisone. It kinda speeds people.

Carol said...

Jan, the jail is not closing down. It's the charity hospital that is closing most of their services here locally. The jail does really good business here.

jan said...

Carol, I put that sentence together wrong. I did read that it was the health services that were closing, not the jail. My bad!

Coreen, I read the article about Christie. Whatever his motives, I think it's refreshing for a politician to think more of his constituents than his party. That is not the norm. I really hate the party system. BTW, how did Christie get elected in a blue state in the first place?

Carol said...

I support what Michelle did. How can you finish making a speech when someone in the front of the crowd is screaming at you? I wouldn't want to try to scream over the person and she either had to do that or just quit the speech. I think she did what she had to do.

Yesterday, as I'm sure you know, TM turned 8 years old. No surprise to me. What has surprised me is that our little blog is almost 4 years old. Our birth date is August 16.

I did a little research on the life span of a blog and found that most blogs are abandoned pretty fast, 60 to 80% within one month. If they make it past that, then 3 years is the next marker. We've passed both...so far.

I can find what I was doing every day for the last almost 4 years, not that much of it is worth remembering.

Carol said...

Coreen, I'm a little afraid to ask but...what do you think about the new A-Rod allegations? Someone on Yahoo Sports yesterday said that they thought that the Yankees might not be too disappointed if he does get a suspension. It could save them a bundle of money. I know you have been a loyal fan of his but he is not really very productive anymore but still very expensive. The Yankees could put that money to better use.

Coreen said...

I have more of a problem with the
hypocrisy of MLB regarding the steroid generation than with the
individual players who have used or allegedly used these various meds to get an edge...

When the MLB needed a boost after the 94 strike year they made a
determination to let players that were excelling hitting homeruns like bond, mcguire, sosa, et al, do whatever they did, because it was making them money...

Whatever led them to decide to wring their hands & take measures to 'rid' the game of steroid users, they then targeted various players...in the meantime the players were trying to get an edge
& bought into all the stuff that
is now a topic of great handwringing...I have no idea what anebolic steroids are other than what I have read over the years, what I recall is that bodybuilders
were maybe the first to use the various things that then drifted into sports...

You know I have always felt that athletes should get as much money as they can from the owners since the athletes have a limited life expectancy for their athletic skills & the owners are making even more when those athletes succeed, from seats at the games, to the lucrative tv contracts, the advertising, & so forth...

Alex has never been a fan fav in NY, he was always 2nd to Derek...I don't dislike Alex, but never understood what he & his handlers
did in creating his image or lack thereof, his antics have always come across as vain, self-serving, & not well thought out in trying to
win over the fanbase...

What comes of the latest investigation who knows...there are
so many angles there, do know that the espn headline that broke the other night seems more sensational then what may be actually happening...& there will be a long way to go before it unravels...

meantime Alex has not played since last year, not sure he will ever play...for whatever reasons...

Coreen said...

As to why Christie won in a true blue state, don't know why voters do what they do...he was what northeast republicans always were
fiscally conservative & socially liberal(the type that the current Republ base has effectively removed from office wherever they could)...he beat Corzine who I beleive was not very popular by then & having been a US atty, had name recognition & was able to convince Indie voters that he was going to work to reign in govt spending &
try to cut the tax burden for those that pay...

Around here, Repubs. can win if they win over large # of indie
voters, since there always many more registered dems then repubs.(in the large urban cities, & yes that translates to minority & low income registered voters) & the suburbs & rural areas with less # of voters are either repub or indies...

Carol said...

What I understand about the steroids used in sports is that it is a form of testosterone or something that boosts testosterone levels. They increase muscle mass and endurance but they have many long term consequences. Athletes might be willing to suffer those consequences for money and fame but it's least fair for them.

Carol said...

Jan, how's your knee and rash. No hear from yesterday. Everything OK?

Carol said...

We had two storms come thru yesterday. After watching all those deadly storms in Oklahoma, I've become storm phobic. It's not impossible to get tornadoes around here but fairly rare and usually not as strong. Maggie and I sat in the chair together watching the trees rocking and rolling. Too many windows around here when there's a storm. The camp did a little swaying also. Maggie, not a lap dog, gets real chummy when there's a storm out.

The winds was so bad that a big tree came down and landed on part of a camp just three camps down. Fortunately, no one lives there.

Looks like Renee will also have a rainy day today.

I am envious of all of your rain you guys are getting. I apologize for that cuz I know you have had enough. We are not getting any rain. The weather teases us with storm clouds some evenings and then nothing happens.

Carol, I am wondering how you are doing too. The prednisone is helping some. I can get around better but still pain at night. It must be less at night cuz I am sleeping better. Last night was best night's sleep in over a week and I didn't take any pain med either.

I do have an appt with my primary on 6/27. I am wanting an MRI to see what exactly the problem is so will know exactly what is needed. I will do whatever it takes.

Carol said...

Sorry that it's so dry there Jan. I think there are a lot of people who would donate their rain to you if they could.

Glad your knee is better. Too bad you can't contact your doc to have that MRI before your appointment or move up your appt. Could you call him?

My health seems to be back to pre-misery state. Don't want to brag too soon. Back to eating most everything, even one cup of coffee in the morning. I had lost my taste for more than that a good while before my terrible belly ache.

I'm baaaaaack....
Yup... it's raining cats and dogs all over New England. We decided not to stick around at the Cape today. We packed up last night.... just got up this morning... ate breakfast... and were on the road heading for home by 9:30am.... drove down our driveway around noontime.

We had an excellent time. Ate lots of food... drank lots of wine and beer. Went over to Martha's Vineyard to see OldSeaHag on Wednesday. Someone Rick used to work with recently retired on the Cape. He and his wife had us over for dinner Tuesday. They put on a lovely feast for us.

Now I'm off to catch up over at TM.

Welcome home Renee. Have pics?? When you put up your pics, give some details, if you want to. I'd kinda like to enjoy your vacation also.

Carol said...

Coreen, do you have a rain gauge? I like to know how much we get. I got a cheap one at Farm Supply that has big numbers on it. What the news reports is never what I get.

jan said...

Welcome Home Renee. Great you had an excellent time. Nothing better than good food and drink and good company, and not necessarily in that order.

What a difference a day makes...the sun is out, there is a big breeze & it may hit 80...

Wound up a big rainstorm with minor street flooding, but no significant damage....

No rain gauge here Carol...

Jan, good to hear that you are getting some relief from your pain...hopefully the tests will provide some answers as to what is happening & how to remedy it...about the rain, wish we could help but mother nature decides what & where & how much...

Renee, glad you enjoyed your vacaction break, guess its back to weaving up a storm for awhile & lucky you, your team's hockey season continues....

jan said...

Coreen, happy for you that you did not have a weather crisis and that sunny, warm days are ahead. Yes, we do have to accept the weather conditions where ever we are. I have to keep reminding myself, "I live in a desert."

I am feeling well enough to get back to work on GS's t-shirt quilt. His birthday is 7/24 and I would like to have it done for his b'day. I am pacing myself and only working on the quilt at short intervals and taking rest periods so I do not get tensed up.

Coreen, almost everything reminds me of a song. Your words to start off your last comment, "What a difference a day makes,( 24 little hours.}" I think it was a song my dad sang when I was very young.

jan said...

Carol, I am so glad your tummy is doing better.

Coreen said...

Yes, Jan, your musical sense is right on...Here's Dinah Washington singing...

I grew up listening to r&r on the radio & this is the only version I know from the early 60s...

What Difference a day makes

Sitting here waiting for plumber. He told last night he would be here at 9. It's almost 10:30. Can't even get him on the phone

Been busy doing laundry, grocery shopping, straightening out the house from 3 cats, etc, etc.

Yeah... I took pictures.... Rick did too. Will post some in a day or 2.

Glad everyone is feeling better.
Yes, Coreen.... except for a couple days at the end of this month to see Craig... weaving is my main game until my fair in August.

oh yeah.... Go Bruins! We want the cup!

Why is it that our gov is monitoring all of us to watch for terrorists but they totally ignore it when a foreign country gives them one of the bomber brother's on a platter?? I'm sure all of us that have spoken out on TM are probably already on their watch list.

They have all sorts of ways to monitor us. Even my little Nintindo DS, handheld video game, has a camera. It has a little camera that faces me. Can't understand what the use of that is because I cannot see any way to download those pics if I use it. I guess that maybe our video games can even watch us. It does have a wifi connection even though I have no wifi around here.

I think they are not as interested in terrorists as they are in what we buy and eat. Most likely big business just wants that info to target us with ads. Any time I look up some product online, every website I visit after doing it has a page full of ads for that product. Have you noticed that?

After two hours of waiting, I gave up on the plumber and came back to the camp.

jan said...

Coreen, thanks for posting the link to Dinah Washington singing "What a difference..." Loved listening to it.

Carol, so frustrating when you wait like that for a service person who tells you they will be there and don't show.

Renee, That is the thing about a vacation. There is always so much to do when you get back home. Take it easy.

I finally heard from my plumber yesterday, text message. He apologized, said he had family come over late and they went out. I assume that maybe he got really drunk?? He also said he lost his cellphone and just found it. Said he would come today. When I had called, it went directly to voice mail. I told him that today he could text me when he was headed that way.
