Ok Jan... I've reposted them. I added one on .... I tried to take a picture of the Phoebe that sits on our power lines over our shed in the front yard. But I see I didn't get the bird. Just imagine it sitting on the wires singing.... "phoebe"... "phoebe"...

Carol said...

Thanks Renee. Now get outside and get some more pics of your neck of the woods. You need to play with your new camera. When you go out, take your camera and show us around your town. I'd love to see it.

jan said...

Thank you Renee. I am imagining the Phoebe right now.

Instead of going to the movie, we rented one from Redbox - Hyde Park on the Hudson. Most enjoyable. I wonder how much of it is true. We certainly have a tradition of our presidents having their affairs. We did enjoy the movie. Had a difficult time understanding some of the dialogue, but we got the "picture" Pun intended.

Carol....
that's gonna have to wait. I'm really busy this week. Need to end off the scarves I'm weaving and reset up my loom for my housewares... plus get us ready for a trip. We're going on vacation to Cape Cod Massachusetts for a week next Sunday. Really looking forward to stuffed quahogs and clam chowder... or should I say "chowda".

Wow, not much to report but the weather... it went from humid & hot 85 to cold & rainy...it was humid all week, yesterday outside the office it was humid & 65 at noon, an hour later when I looked out it had dropped to 54 & the wind started blowing...by the time I came home it was raining, windy & 49...this morning its 44 & yes, I shut the ac & put the heat on to take the chill out of the house...but wait they are saying by next weekend we just may be hitting 90...go figure...

Carol said...

I looked at the weather forecast up that way yesterday and saw that it wasn't going to be a nice weekend. One report even said maybe snow up your way tonight Renee. Better bring in my fuchsia.

Carol said...

OK, I give, what is a stuffed quahogs? Doesn't sound good.

Carol said...

Bring your camera with you on your trips and take lots of pics.

Coreen said...

Renee, is that the weekend for Craig's celebration...

for you guys it's 'chowda', for me
it's still chowder...but honestly I like Manhattan style better...

quahog is a type of clam Carol...

Renee, my fav is raw Cherrystones, but no bigger than the size of a quarter...my friends all say I only like 'illegals' & not referring to immigrants...when digging for clams, there is a legal size tto the clams that can be taken....

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... of course I'll take my camera.

A quahog is a large clam... they steam it, cut it up, mix it up with bread stuffing and spices, and serve it back in it's shell... aka.. stuffed quahog. You fork up bits of it and dip it in the melted butter... YUM!

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen... when it comes to steamers (which I LOVE), I too prefer Cherrystones.... the smaller the better.

Tomatos in clam chowda is a fucking sin I tell ya! :)

Craig's celebration in Gloucester is at the end of June...
the 30th to be exact. We will be taking a 2-night/3-day mini vacation then.

We will probably go over to Martha's Vineyard while at the Cape and spend a day with OldSeaHag... it would be nice to see her new grandchild, Finn.

RebelliousRenee said...

Oh yeah.... and Carol...
when they say it may snow this weekend in New Hampshire... they mean in the northern part where there are much bigger mountains. We live in the southern part right along the Massachusetts border.

No snow coming here in May.

I do remember some clam chowder I had at a resort in Colorado, the one in with the white sauce, and it was great but I would only eat it if it was homemade. I don't like any kind of canned soups. Canned is the only way I could get it here.

Coreen....
I don't know if you follow hockey.... but just want to say that the New York Rangers goalie, Lundqvist is the real deal and single handedly kept the Rangers in this series....

I salute him as a worthy opponent!

Now GO BRUINS!...

OMG....
I think I see this funny color in the sky....

it's purple.... no, it's aqua.... no... IT'S BLUE!!!

A Whole Foods store about a mile from us often has clam chowder and lobster chowder. I had some LC the other day there and it was delicious. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water for more.

jan said...

You guys were talking about some foods I have not heard of. Reminds me there are so many places in this country I have never visited.

Beautiful morning here in ALB. We are sitting on our front porch enjoying the birds. Have not seen a hummer yet this year. So far a quiet weekend for us. I did get my sewing room in better order over past few days. Also got my sewing machine out and cleaned and ready to start on Ben's t-shirt quilt.

Ryley has recovered from her tooth cleaning and extraction. Her skin lesion that was caused by an abcessed upper tooth has cleared. She was on antibiotics for about 4 weeks. So glad that is over. I must be more disciplined at cleaning her teeth. She does not like it and neither do I.

jan said...

Renee, your week on Cape Cod sounds lovely. I look forward to seeing some pictures from there if you have time to take some. Enjoy your vacation.

jan said...

How are you feeling Carol?

Coreen said...

Congrats to your Bruins Renee...who says winning isn't everything...good luck with the next round...your season continues...

And yes those blue skies reached down here, but the winds from the north are really chilly....hard to believe that the end of the week is going to be in the 80s pushing 90...oh well...

Carol said...

Feeling better Jan. Thanks Jan.

I've been hanking for this crawfish bisque they have at this high dollar resturarant here. I did have an intolerance to eating boiled crawfish but I was able to tolerate a small cup of the bisque. I might just go get a bowl to take out.

I hope when you say blue, you mean sunshine. Pleasant here.

The CBS morning show was good. Had a section on birding. Some of the scenes in Indiana looked like could have been shot on my river.

Gardenia's are in bloom Coreen. I'm savoring.

Coreen said...

Not sure that 'specialty' soups like chowders & bisques are easily
duplicated outside restaurants & here fish markets...I like lobster bisque & pick it up at the local fish market...

Coreen said...

Love those gardenias Carol...happy to hear you are feeling a little better & its pleasant there now...

And happy to hear little Ryley is much better Jan...sounds like you & John are relaxing & enjoying the Memorial Day weekend...

Do they have Memorial Day parades, here there are small ones in most
town usually on Monday with the marchers veterans, boy scouts & local town officials, maybe a high school band too...

Liked the segment on David Copperfield on Sunday morning...I like magic, always amazed & never have any idea how they do that!...

The sky here is off/on blue, lots of gray clouds still hanging around with bursts of sunshine, but the wind is brutal still...

Do you guys ever get a craving for some strange food? I have been having a craving for sauerkraut for a couple of weeks but didn't have any and was afraid to try it. The other day I bought a can and had it ready. I gave a little a try yesterday and it did OK. I haven't had any in a long time. It's not something I even think about. I thought about it because I was reading about foods that were probiotic.

Carol said...

Are you doing a Memorial Day post tomorrow Coreen? Also, when you go out to eat somewhere guys, takes pics of the place and food. I love to see good food. Also, describe the food...in detail.

Also, take pics when you go out in your home towns. I like to see around the places you live. We can't have too many pics. You can put new ones up as often as you want. I love to look at the pics. I took some pics of some flowers today when Maggie and I went out for our walk this morning. We have been doing good with our twice a day walks. We go before the sun has much time to heat up the road and after the sun gets off the road.

Carol said...

Renee, keep us up with how your Bruins do. I don't hear about hockey.

I saw that all three of our BB teams have 30 wins up until today. Cool. I keep up with the scores every day.

It's warm here but very pleasant. Partly cloudy with a very nice breeze. I love this kind of weather. I went outside yesterday evening and felt a little cool. It was 76 which is hardly cool but it was so pleasant feeling. Our bodies learn to tolerate the temp as it changes. Of course, I will never tolerate the high heat we get here. I have to stay inside during the hot parts of the day.

You notice that TM was also burned out on politics. They are like us. Sometimes we just get tired of beating a dead horse. Politics is Craig's career so he can't afford to get too far away from it but he also needs a fish camp holiday every now and again.

Carol, I miss gardenias. We had a couple of gardenia bushes in Little Rock. Always loved it when they were blooming.

I get food cravings too. Don't often have hamburgers but sometimes just have to have one. Do not like to cook them. Cooking any meat turns me off for what I am cooking. We have a little local burger place whose hamburgers I like a lot. The only think I would like is if they had chopped onions cooked in the burger.

I sometimes get a craving for Haagen Daz Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream It is absolutely my favorite ice cream. So good and so rich.

We have been eating off of a seedless watermelon -one of the best I have eaten. Growing up in rural OK, watermelon and home made ice cream were our favorite treats.

jan said...

Coreen, have not been to a parade in a long time. Sounds like fun. Hope your wind ends soon.

We too are happy Ryley is better. We do enjoy her company so much. I think I am more attached to her than I have been to any dog. I think it is because she has required so much care recently and that she sits up with us on the couch. Her hair is so soft and I like having her on my lap.

jan said...

Carol, LOL I never think of taking pics of food. You and John would get along great. He dearly loves to eat. I think that is why he loves to take cruises. There is a constant smorgas board of food.

Carol said...

I've also been having a good hamburger craving also but don't have any good ones close by. To make my own, which I wouldn't mind doing, I'd have to have too much stuff that would go to waste.

I don't think Haagen Daz ice cream would qualify for a strange food craving. Most of us would enjoy that any time of the day.

Carol said...

I don't think that it is weird to enjoy pics of good food Jan. The magazines are full of them. Do you ever enjoy looking at those pics. Yesterday I looked up pics of both clam chowder and those quahogs. Both looked yummy. Our Emeril Lagasse had a recipe for those quahogs. I bet his would be good.

Yesterday, at the grocery store, I was looking at canned clams. If I had someone else to cook for, I would try making some clam chowda. Don't want to do that just for me. I did look at recipes for it and most used canned clams. I found a brand that did come from the USA. Wouldn't buy foreign seafood.
