What's your flavor?

When you reach in the bowl of Dum Dum pops today, what flavor are you going to choose?  Will it be your favorite flavor, one you can tolerate but not your favorite, or the one with the ?.

Who’s really in charge of the outcome of this election?  Is it us?  Is it big power and money?  Is it an even higher power?  That would be an easy choice for me.  I’d vote for a higher power but I really think that would be the least likely.

I do think a higher power does give us signs but leaves it up to us to ponder them and use them to help us with our decisions.  I think this storm, right before the election, was a powerful hint.

No matter what the outcome, we will survive and thrive.  That’s what humans do.  We are a tough and resilient species.

This is the t-shirt I will wear to go vote today.  I'm still grieving over that loss.  I'm sure here in Louisiana that I'll get some strange looks.  There's a new gun law constitutional amendment on the ballot today.  I do hope that bringing one to the polls is still illegal!

Thanks Jan. Yep, soon I'll be on the take. I'm 62 and now I qualify for my entitlements. I've already enrolled and my first check will come in January. Call me one of the 47% and proud to be there.

Chloe, last night you left me some good advice to ponder. For most of my career I made choices that weren't exactly my idea. I do think there was a higher power, channeling through several others, who directed me toward the choices I made. Both mom and Jan were involved in that channeling. Mom made my basic career choice and Jan encouraged me to try teaching. Neither would have been my choice, but both were good choices and looking back, I don't regret either choice.

I've already had to go and rescue kitties this morning. Two were on the floor and crying. I put both back on the love seat and tried to fix it up where they won't fall off again, at least for a little while. I hope mama kitty doesn't desert the little ones and let me take over the entire job.

Carol, I think we all have had others make some of our choices, especially when we are young. My dad controlled much of my early life like your mother did yours. He thought he knew better than me who I should marry and what I should do with my life. I let him do that. However, I finally found my own will to make things happen. However, I made some foolish choices too. But I also make some good ones. Like you, I have never regretted going into nursing as a career.

I read the other day that we learn much more from our bad choices or our bad experiences in life than from our good ones. That is so true for me.

It has been a tough few days for me. My GS here had another seizure night before last. When he went down on the floor, he went down hard and had to have several stitches over his right eye. His face is really battered but after X-rays and check ups no permanent or serious damage. He is not sure, but he thinks he missed his morning dose of his anti seizure med. He did take his evening dose but had the seizure about 2-4 hours after. He will be getting another MRI this week (was scheduled in April) and will be seeing the neurologist.

Can't think of a better person to have been given the task of caring for the mother cat & her kittens...

Just another adventure to add to your list of life events to tackle...

My big concern for the cat family is as you know already the risk of predators getting to them...

My black cat kit-kit was feral & we
were able to trap her just before she had kittens (but I had help from a woman who rescued cats, particulary feral cats...she was one of a kind...she has since moved to France...) Ursala was dedicated to helping them & she did
the kittens were born with her help
at her home, she had them adopted & returned kit-kit to me...I almost wanted to keep them all (six) but it was best she found good homes for them all...

Kitkit lives here & while she doesn't go near any other people, she is fine with me & one of the other cats, but not the little one...

As you know, none of my cats go outside...Honestly kit kit never makes any effort to try to leave the house...she is very content to stay indoors...

So you were able to tame Kit Kit. That's good to know. Mama kitty watches me like a hawk. She does run up to the back door when she needs more food in her bowl.

I don't have any dogs that come in the yard unless they come and I miss seeing them. Haven't seen a raccoon in a long time. It's mainly possums and armadillos.

I may end up with the chore of having to take over raising the babies but at least I'm now in a position to be available.

Yes, Carol, kit kit is fine now, pet her, pick her up, sleeps on the beds, brush her, she is just skittish around most people...

At the same time we found kitkit, we also found the male feral cat we called him bully, he was the father of the kittens...we fed him
changed the porch to a place he could go for warmth & protection, but never in more than 2 years did I get to touch him...in the end after surviving a couple of winters, in the spring he left the porch one morning & we never found him, looked all around the area for a longtime....that waa a depressing failure that we could not protect him from whatever...& he was a tough strong cat...

Coreen said...

Oh before I forget, the most important thing is to try to catch mother cat in the near future after the kits are ok, to have her spayed...so that no more kits are
born to worry about...& I know you are protective of your 'family'...just as I am of mine...

I still have to go vote. Was thinking about wearing my...Hillary, Madam president, t-shirt. Bet I would get some strange looks.

Actually, I think I will. Since she's not on the ballot, I can't be accused of campaigning at a voting site.

I just added a pic to my post. Some of you may get a kick out of it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAROL!!

I hope it's a good one -- and am glad that you're finally going to start getting back a few of those benefits you paid into for so long.

I just saw this on the net, and can't resist quoting it for your birthday:

"Forget about the past, you can’t change it,

Forget about the future, you can’t predict it,

Forget about the present, I didn’t get you one!"

... maybe it's just my weird sense of humor, but... I woulda if I coulda.

I agree with you, by the way, about what a strong influence those we respect and trust can have on us.

Still, it was you that made the final choice. I'm like you.. always looking for signs and omens along the way.

I don't like Woody Allen anymore, but think that is what he's always looking for (at least in his spiels): the meaning of life.

Emma has a movie called 'Ants'. It's animated, but very well narrated, humorous and ironic -- and the voice is that of Woody Allen.

At the beginning of the movie there's a very clever scene (and for some reason, M's favorite -- where the ant (Woody Allen) is in a therapy session. It's so humorous. At the end when he tells the therapist: 'I just feel 'so' insignificant', the therapist happily congratulates him by telling he's made a major break through.

When Woody asks "I have??", the therapist tell him: Yes! You are insignificant!!

Out of context, but it really is funny in the movie (and true I guess).

Unknown said...

... when I said true, I really don't think that anyone is insignificant.

But it did appear to have the same meaning that you were trying to portray to me when you told me we are merely a speck (in the big picture).

You might remember that I said yeah, but that spec is all we have. I still believe that. We can use our life for bad or good, but we can never 'really' change anyone else if they're un-open to new ideas or change.

Again happy, happy birthday... and I like you just the way you are. :)

.. love your shirt btw. Didn't even know you had it.

Thank you Chloe. Glad you are back and leaving your ponders. Gives me more to ponder.

I voted. Have a I voted sticker sitting on Hillary's head. Then I got myself a BD present, a Mickey Ds choc chip frapee and ff. At least a thou calories. It's a gorgeous day and Mag and I are out at the camp enjoying it. Can't write much because on iPhone.

Just heard a Romney supporter call in to HLN. She
Was from Texas. She said she voted for Romney because Obama passed a law that would allow babies who were born alive to be left to die. Yep, she represents many of the Romney supporters. Probably watches Fox News or listens to Glen Beck.

Warren is the projected winner! Yeehah! I can go to bed now.
