Get out the vote...REALLY? Undecided voter....REALLY?

I wake up every morning with some ponder on my mind.  This morning it was about voting.  Most of us have watched Dancing with the Stars or American Idol or one of the shows where the viewing audience is asked to vote for who they think is the best dancer or singer.  IMO, it usually isn’t the best who wins.  People vote for who they like, who looks best, who is the most popular and sometimes who’s the worst just to screw it up.  It’s not really that important who wins these contests.  It’s not a big deal but voting for the leader of the free world is pretty important.

There’s such an effort to get people out to vote for the presidential election.  Do we really want someone who isn’t interested, out there picking someone for the most important job in the world?  I was pondering that this morning.  There are already too many people choosing a president using much of the same criteria they use to choose who is going to be the American Idol or who will get the mirror ball.  Some make their selection based on who mom or dad voted for.  Some couldn’t tell you what their candidate believes.  We can’t change that but…..if a person isn’t really interested in voting, LEAVE THEM ALONE.  I’d rather see only those who really care, selecting our next leader.  Call me nuts.

If I ever wake up and the world makes sense, I'll know that I have passed.

Speaking of passed, that's a term that the Long Island Medium uses all the time. I take it that she lives in Long Island. Anyone heard how she did with this storm? Looking at all the pics, I really can't tell how extensive the destruction from Sandy was. The TV will focus on the worst so I'm not sure how much is as bad as what they are showing.

Since you are familiar with that area, do you know how much of Long Island was destroyed?

Fox News pondered whether the benefit concert put on last night to help raise money for those affected by the super storm was actually just an excuse for an Obama rally. Typical. They report that most involved in the concert are Obama supporters. I watched the concert and didn't hear a single word about voting for Obama. Didn't even think about it and I didn't know the politics of those performing. Maybe it's just that people who support Obama are also people who care about their fellow man and want to lend a hand.

Fox News also questioned the timing of the concert..so close to the election. Well, unless God is involved in this conspiracy, having a benefit concert after a horrible disaster seems to be an appropriate decision. Duh.

I'm going to meet some old friends for lunch. Their having a birthday party for one of my neighbor's. She's 80 today and still looks really good, better than I do.

I like your ponders. Hope you had a good lunch. I posted some pics of my granddaughter and her little ones a few minutes ago. Also some pics of Ryley. We gave her a bath today. Much easier than last time. She did very well. So did we.

Watching the LSU/Alabama game. Bama is winning 14-3 but it's not as bad as I was expecting. A dumb penalty by one of our players and a dumb play called by our coach set us back.

I'll go check out your pics. The BD lunch was nice. This lady's daughter was my next door neighbor and bestest friend for years. Then she and her husband moved to Malaysia. They are back in the states but up in Illinois. We've lost touch. You know how I am when a good friend leaves me.

Saw the pics. All the babies are adorable. Have you started cutting
Ryley's hair yet. Maggie does not cooperate with me to cut her hair but I do try. When I'm finished she looks like some poor homeless mutt but neither of us much care what we look like.

Today at the lunch I met this lady who worked with my neighbor who had the BD. She's an artist and teaches watercolor painting. Sitting next to her was a little synchronicity. I've always wanted to learn to paint with watercolor. I dabbled with some. My dragonfly avatar is one of my watercolor attempts. When I finally learn to adapt to this retirement and get my long list of chores done, I'm going to take some classes with her.

Yes Carol, I know what you do when a friend leaves town!!!! Redemption is good.

I think it would be great if you did some painting. I took some lessons in LR but did not go any further with it. I kept thinking I would someday do some painting but here I am and no paintings.

The groomer cut Ryley's hair so short she will not need another haircut for a while. A neighbor lady can do grooming and she said she would show me how when Ryley's hair grows out.

We bathed her in a basin in the sink = that is we soaped her down and then I took her in the shower with me and rinsed her off then handed her off to John and he wrapped her in towels and we both took turns drying her. It was not hard. I had a t-shirt on and was soaked. But all in all it was a not a difficult task.

Thanks Carol for letting me know how you bathe Maggie.

Our little QB finally played well tonight.

I agree. Alabama is a tough opponent.

We were really overrated at #5 IMO. Tonight, we looked like we earned it.
