Joshua Ledet..Our own homegrown American Idol

We had the privilege of having our own Joshua Ledet home for a couple of days to celebrate his being in the final three of American Idol.  His hometown of Westlake honored him with a parade. For his visit, the town of Westlake changed the name to:

Stephanie and her mom attended the parade

Joshua saw Stephanie's mom..his teacher/friend.  He was excited to see her and yelled out her name to say hi. If you can read his lips..you'll know her name.

Later in the day there was a pep rally at Burton Coliseum.  Even with tickets, there was a long wait to get in.  Complimentary tickets were given out the day before.  Since everyone wanted to see the rally, the tickets ran out in one hour. I don't do long lines so fortunately, my friend Stephanie's mom, who lives and works in Westlake, got me one.  I ended up doing a long line anyway.  It was worth the effort. It was for our Idol.

We had our signs ready.  Cindy made the signs.  I don't do signs either.  It helps to have young friends.

Due to the rush to get prepared for Josh's visit they must have forgotten to set up a good sound system.  We migrated down to the area in front of the stage so we could hear and see better. They were letting the youngsters stand out in front of the stage.  I walked right down there..behind Stephanie..hoping no one would notice that I wasn't one of them.  I stayed in her shadow.

I caught a short video of Josh singing one of his songs..unfortunately..it wouldn't download. I need another app for that or an android or something.  You also need to be young to figure that out. They are now born with it in their DNA.  I've only got the cancer gene in mine and I hope to sneak past that one too.

Cindy's daughter works at a local private airport and got a autographed picture from Joshua when he arrived.  See..I have connections.

Good Luck Joshua..no matter what happens..you'll always be our number one American Idol!  Some of your older fans are voting their fingers to the bone..even having to put in all those dumb letters and numbers, that we can barely see, to do it.

Joshua Ledet is a great example of the kind of people we grow down here in southwest Louisiana.

I want you to know that the sign.. in that first pic.. is a HUGE sign across the road going into Westlake. Westlake is known as the home to lots of industry in the area. Now it's also known as the hometown of our American Idol. I prefer the latter.

I really enjoyed your Mother's Day post Coreen. I can still look at it often. What happened to you yesterday Coreen? I hope you are OK. I know you might be having a little grief over your Yankee boys. Hey..they can make up the deficit..much easier than my boys ..the Saints..will be able to.

Carol said...

If you will notice..in the third pic..Josh is wearing Mardi Gras beads.. with our Saint's logo. And Cindy made a Who Dat poster. Around these parts..the Saints are in our blood and we will be cheering whether they are playing like the Saints or the Aints .

Great pics Carol, I didn't know they even changed the sign over the RR tracks, they should have put that shot in the paper, and I saw that video on NBC news, and you know it me me cry, I'm the biggest tear baby in the land.

Georgia said...

Yes Coreen you Mother's Day post was beautiful, some of those pics of Carol's Mom, I have not even seen, I love the one of her and Carol. Sorry about the Yankees yesterday and Andy gave up the 4 runs?????????? hmmmmmmm....but the Braves are looking good, when do we hook up? I think you said in June. Looking forward to that...

Carol said...

TW..New York plays the Braves on June 11..12 and 13. Hint..hint..it's all on the Internet.

Can't wait for Wednesday night to see what all the actual Idol crew filmed of his homecoming.....They had to be impressed with the "Who Dat Nation" and hopefully got to try some of our great food....

where in NY or Atlanta?

Carol said...

Oh..and I'm still going round and round with Dish. They have another..the third..technician coming out tomorrow. I've never seen anything like this fiasco. They should owe me free service for a year when they get through.

The last lady I talked to asked me about answering another survey. I told her it wouldn't be in her best interest because they only thing positive I could say at this time was she sounded like an American and that question wasn't on the survey!

Carol said...

It's at Atlanta TW.

Copy and paste this into your address line.

Oh..I forgot..you don't know how to do that. Call me. Even us older turkeys know how to do that.

Carol, wonderful post of Joshua. John went through it with me. He said he will vote this week although he hates having to type in those stupid numbers too.

Seeing the pics and reading your descriptions was almost like being there.

I hope you remember I was the one who told you about Joshua. Your big sis was here and you were not watching Idol yet.

jan said...

Good luck Jessica, I hope you are in the finals, but all my votes, and John's, are going for Joshua.

jan said...

BTW, my little 10 y/o GD is going to be fine. She has an intestinal virus. She was very dehydrated. She got 2 bags of fluid in the hosp last night. They got back to the motel at 2 am. Glad it was not appendicitis as she probably would have had to have surgery there.

jan said...

Coreen, are you OK? Missing you.

I must ditto Carol. The Mother's Day post was spectacular. That was lots of work putting it up. I am so happy that I can go back and see all the pictures again.

Carol said...

Jan..I'm so glad you GD is OK. I had a feeling it wasn't an appendicitis.

When we chat here..we can't see the posts anyway. We have to pull it up on another tab just to see the pics so it really doesn't matter if we change posts every day..the pics are there.

Carol said...

Yes Jan..I was restricted in my TV viewing at the time. Thanks for telling me about Joshua. Those programs do cause me some distress because of that voting business..both for DWTS and for Idol. I may one day have to give them both up. I'm also trying to lighten my stress load.

Because Joshua is from the area..I couldn't have ignored it for long. Thank you guys for helping him. I worry about both he and Jessica. Like it or not..it's a white boy world. Talent doesn't really matter.

Coreen said...

Glad you enjoyed your adventure, a likely once in a lifetime event...even if it was exhausting...

Hope you get your dish working soon...not a big item in this area...I do know one person who had it briefly (the year Yankees were not on cable...& he hated it,
weather interference, trees blocking signal, yada, yada...dumped it as soon as YES & cablevision came to an agreement)....

As far as a Yankee loss, too early to get overly concerned, would have like Andy to have won his 1st time out...but they just didn't get him any runs..so next game...

I was talking to TW and she was LOL because she was watching Ellen. Ellen was showing some text messages..that did include older people trying to use a young person medium.

A daughter texted her mother that she got an A on a test and her mom texted back
WTF that's great. Daughter asked what she meant by that. Mother thought that WTF meant well that's wonderful.

Another one. This older person was texting everyone about some family member's death and was signing it off..LOL. Someone asked her why she was laughing about someone dying and the woman was shocked because she thought that LOL meant lots of love.

It's dangerous when we old folks try to use that young people technology. We can get ourselves in a lot of trouble.

jan said...

I am LOL about the ellen show -that is too funny. I don't use any acronyms unless I find out what they mean.

BTW Carol, WTF does Rut Rho mean?

jan said...

BTW did you see this news headline:

Statistics show that teen pregnancy drops off significantly after age 25.

here is another:

another -

another -

Any one want to fund some great research !!!

Carol said...

WTF. Means what the f---

Carol said...

Sorry. Rut rho is just ut oh the way some old cartoon character said it. I mis read what you asked.

Carol said...

And no Jan..I don't want to invest in any of that research. I've already invested enough in very bad causes.

Carol said...

TW..said that "rut rho" came from Scooby-Doo..the great dane.

Carol said...

I finally edited our blog contributors list to reflect those of us who still contribute.

Carol said...

Coreen..cable once told me that they would never be out here. Probably doesn't pay for them to run lines out here. I really don't know if that ever changed. It is more expensive to get less. TW has cable and she has more problems than I have.

Carol said...

I have to fast tonight for some lab tomorrow. I've been procrastinating that. I get my blood drawn at 8a so I can't eat past 8p. Hey..I'm just getting started good at that time.

My blood work was only ordered 6 months ago..not that bad. I have a Dr appt the next day so I couldn't put it off a minute longer. One of the problems has been getting to the office for them to draw my blood when I'm working. Yeah..that's it..that's my excuse.

Carol said...

Not even any soda water. Sniff sniff. Hey..that's also when I get most of my fluid intake.

Coreen said...

Well I am supposed to get my yearly blood test too...& I have also been avoiding it for about a month...but here they tell you not to eat after midnight...which means I have to go to the lab before 9 am. then come home to get re-ready before I go to the office...so I keep 'forgetting'...I have a note from last week on the calendar & still haven't gotten together in the a.m. to go...maybe this week....we'll see...

Carol said...

Coreen..does your blood work include a fasting lipid level?? That's cholesterol..triglycerides.. etc. If so..you need a 12 hour fast.

Carol said...

William looks rough. Making faces. This certainly isn't his dance. But the judges will probably go ga ga.

Carol said...

No Bruno..he'll never go to bed with you. Give it up.

Well..leave it up to Carrie Ann to give him a tad of criticism.

Carol said...

He ought to be happy with those scores. I think William was even surprised.

Coreen said...

Have no idea Carol...it is to check choles. levels, but never told 12 hrs...

missed william's dance...& just switched to agt & howard (stern) not mandel...is already doing his shtick...a male stripper magician...I didn't see it either but he only had shorts on & some sort of chain hanging from a nipple & mandel was on stage...that would be a vintage stern stunt...

Are you familiar with howard stern's show....radio & he had a tv show way back full of lesbians, dwarfs, you name it...it was way ahead of its time...

Carol said...

Well..Kathrine finally did some real dancing tonight..and did a bang up job.

Carol said...

Trust me Coreen..you need a 12 hour fast for lipid levels.

"You must fast at least 12 hours before taking a cholesterol blood test to get an accurate reading on triglycerides. The American Heart Association warns against quick cholesterol tests you find in malls and health fairs because fasting is imperative to obtaining an accurate result."

Read more: How Long to Fast Before a Blood Test | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/way_5332776_long-fast-before-blood-test.html#ixzz1utRZd7Gc

Coreen said...

Not going to worry about it Carol...don't take any chol. meds, so far...

Carol said...

Sorry Donald..my fav..but you just don't do slow dances well. At least not in my opinion. He was very jerky

Coreen said...

Haven't changed my opinion...I like Katherine & Maria...either of them would be fine with me as the winner...

meanwhile back at agt...Howard appears to be taking command of the show...he is a natural at off the cuff comedy...he has a lot of
experience...like everyday on the radio...

Coreen said...

missed donald but maria & derek as expected....very well done...

did you see that the britain's got talent winner was a 17 yr old girl & her dog "pudsey" who did some sort of routine to mission impossible theme...did not watch it but it is on youtube...

Carol said...

Well..I didn't care for the choreography of that Argentine Tango. Not that she didn't do well. It figures that the judges loved it. Probably everyone else did also. I certainly march to a different drummer. But I gave up voting for this show anyway and won't watch the results show.

Carol said...

I liked William's salsa much better than his first dance.

Carol said...

I didn't see the dog act but will look it up. TW was also talking about it. I was outside.

Carol said...

I'm rushing to get in my chocolate and my last Coke.

Carol said...

I may have to do my blood test later in the AM. I think it will be easier to not eat or drink in the morning.

Carol said...

That was not a salsa..it was a samba. Sorry. He does do ass shaking very well.

Carol said...

Oh dang. He hurt her at the end. That was his fault. She was doing well.

Carol said...

That should have been three 10s up until the end. I hope her back didn't go out. I think it started when he pulled her thru his legs. For her to feel that kind of pain while in full adrenalin mode..worries me.

Carol said...

I can't understand why more of these celebrities aren't carted off in ambulances every week. They aren't the athletes that the pros are and they are put thru some extremely strenuous athletic activities. I hope Kathrine can move on.

Carol said...

I changed my mind..it wasn't Mark's fault. Her back went out.

Carol said...

I like Donald's fast dances so much more. I really like the guy.

Carol said...

Thanks to Dish..I can't rewind or pause or record my locals. I'm still watching with the rabbit ears.

Carol said...

I think I like Maria better than Kathrine.

Carol said...

I miss young Roshon.

Carol said...

I finally caught a little Howard. He's a softy.

Carol said...

And he thought Idol needed some tougher judges.

Carol said...

Howard is a hoot on AGT.

Carol said...

If I'm down to only one of these shows next week..it will be AGT to watch Howard.

Carol said...

It's a love and tear fest on AGT

Carol said...

And Jan and John..I want to thank you in advance for voting for Joshua. Now I'm going to have to talk TW into also voting. She doesn't vote. Maybe she'll let me put in her info and vote for her. That's the least she can do..if I'll volunteer to do the work.

jan said...

I am worried about Katherine. Maria and Derek dance so well together.

Carol said...

Here's that Hulu of those texting mistakes on Ellen. I screwed up on that WTF one. The mom thought it meant "well that's fantastic"

This has been the most productive day I've had on any of my vacation days. Phew.

I accomplished a lot. Did manage to make it this morning without my coffee for my blood draw. It's tough when I get up at 5a and can't have coffee until close to 9a. Your turn Coreen. Get er done! Thank God Mickey D's..AKA McDonalds..was next door to the office. I only got one cup in so I've got some brewing right now.

I moved most of my potted veggies here to the house and have them out by the pool. I had to drive slow so I didn't damage them. It's a good thing the camp is close to the house.

I had lots of heavy lifting with all I had to move. I do have some neat stuff to help with most of it. I used this luggage hauler I bought for moving stuff at the camp. Then I hooked up my dump wagon to my lawnmower here and drove up the the back of my truck and slide the stuff in. I also picked up a 40 lb bag of bird seed and a huge bag of potting soil. I have one of those mules here and I dumped some of the stuff from my dump wagon right onto the mule..not a real one even thought I might need one of those also. It was fun playing with all my toys.

I also had scheduled my front windshield to be changed and the Dish people were coming again. I scheduled them both for the same time period to kill two birds with one stone. The glass people do it right in the driveway and it doesn't take long.

Another Dish technician came out and as I figured..the dish was all set up right this time. I argued with several people on the phone. It was a screw up at the main office. The right hand doesn't have a clue what the left is doing. Well everything now works and I'm pooped.

Carol said...

American's Got Talent is very entertaining! Interesting variety of talent..cool judges..and many of the acts bring tears.

Carol said...

Well..I did see the end of DWTS. I like Donald the best of the rest but.. IMO I do think they've eliminated some of the better dancers now.

I still think that Kathrine is very beautiful but not as good a dancer and I'm worried that her back may very well go out again.

I've never heard of.." reflectorical spasm" or anything close to that. I think someone made that up. It's not in any medical dictionary or regular dictionary. If they're going to come up with something..they ought to pick something that is an actual diagnosis or even symptom.

Carol said...

I've had a lifetime of muscle spasms. I'm an old pro at it. They don't go away for a while and I certainly couldn't be up doing anything close to dancing for a good while after. With pretty strong drugs I could get up and walk..sometimes not.

I guess you can fool some of the people..some of the time..and that's usually good enough.

Actually..if she's moving pretty well..it is possible that she just screwed up last night and put on a show for sympathy..and it worked.

jan said...

DWTS results is disappointing. I hate to see Derek and Maria go but Derek has won several times. I do the others are not as good dancers. Oh well. it is a popularity contest, just like Idol, at this point.

jan said...

Ok, you guys can laugh at me now. I went to the grocery store tonight to pick up a few things tonight. Not many people there and by myself. I love trips like that where I don't get hurried. I like to browse through the quilt magazines and books to see if there is something I cannot live without. Well, guess what? The book, 50 shades of grey was there. I thought, "oh, I don't need to read that." Well, got to the car and thought I would like to have some low fat choc milk, so went back in to get some and decided to buy the book. Not going to read it yet as I am reading a really good book about the Ambassador to Germany who was there starting in the early 1930's. Very interesting. Now, You can laugh at me.

Carol said...

Oh Jan..I'm not laughing at ya. You were suppose to read it and do a book report on that book or was that Coreen? There is a lot of curiosity over that book. I know that it got to you. It's suppose to be on every woman's bedside stand. If I had a hor that still moned..I might get it to read. And then drag Mr. Entergy out and dust him off. We haven't visited in a while. I'll just bet he's lonely..he doesn't have yard work to do.

I'm dying to know what women are finding so fascinating about the book.

Carol said...

And cut the crap sister..stick the Ambassator by the toilet where he can stimulate something else and get to that slutty book..OK? Time's a wasting. We don't have time to dilly dally here.

Carol said...

And somehow..I'm thinking that you may already be half way through it. You don't need no cultured book for cover here. We need to learn to be open..it's not like I'm asking you to get a mirror out and look at your vagina. It's too late for that. That's the distance in our bifocals that doesn't focus in anyway.

Carol said...

LOL? WTF?

Carol said...

Well..I didn't give DWTS much of my valuable time last night..I'm proud to say. I'm really tired of the white boy with less talent sticking around and hope the same thing doesn't happen with Idol. It's well on it's way to doing that. Joshua and Jessica are light years better than Phillip but the voting public is tone deaf but unfortunately not color blind.

At least I get one more week to listen to my two fav's sing.

Carol said...

If you missed AGT..check this out.

David Garibaldi and His CMYKs

jan said...

OK Carol, just for you I will start the - 50 shades of Grey book tonight. I save my book readin for bedtime. I will let you know.

However, the book about the beginning of Nazi Germany is most interesting. For some reason that period interests me. What is so frightening is how anti- semitic most countries were - including the U.S. People hated the Jews. It is really scary.

jan said...

I will also watch America's got talent next week too. I have lost interest in DWTS now. I don't really care who wins now.

Coreen said...

So DWTS disappoints again...only switched to see the ending...it was a surprise that they dumped Maria/Derek...but it is only entertainment...

As for AGT, only have seen bits & pieces...howard is well howard, thought he does seem more subdued than his persona on his own show...but he seems comfortable...

Have you ever listened or watched
Howard?

Coreen said...

As far as the 50 shades...all three
books remain on top of the NYTimes ebook & paperback lists...

No Carol, I am not inclined to buy/read it...but I was the one
who asked Jan awhile ago if she had heard of it...after I read about the phenom in the NYT a few weeks ago...

I do know 2 women who have read it...but other than the sex, can't say it could be described as anything other than a very explicit Harlequin romance novel...
which most women have read at some point...the ones with that long haired Fabio model for the cover pic...

Coreen said...

Jan, hatred for Jewish people
is alive and well today...lest anyone forget...the holocaust deniers & their ilk are all around...

Coreen said...

Wendy Williams is on now...she is doing her morning gossip...

Here's my query...Spanx...have you
worn any of them...FYI, I have not...I did buy a spanx camisole top once, but it was soooo
tight, I could not wear it...

Well Wendy just said some celebs wear more than 1...Adele wore 3
at the grammies...& the black actress from the help wore 4 to the oscars...then Wendy went on her
own style of gossip about how well
'unfriendly' spanx are to the wearer...gotta love Wendy!!!...

Coreen said...

And Carol, do you walk around using your iphone..not sure about where you live...but it is becoming
common for people walking
around here to be attacked & robbed for their iphone...

Carol said...

I remember Coreen that you introduced us to that book. I wanted Jan to read it..didn't think you would.

Carol said...

Jan..thanks for making that sacrifice to read the book. John may thank me!
