Grandson's pictures of Alaska

My grandson and his wife and baby just sent these pics of their trip in Alaska. They are beautiful so thought I would share here. They were visiting his aunt in Haines.

Great pics Jan. Did they just go or was this a trip from earlier this year? This would be a perfect time to go to Alaska to beat the heat. I'm having lots of trouble dealing with it this year.

I had to mow both places this weekend. Did it early in the morning. The grass is growing really fast now. With the drought we had earlier this summer I could almost go a month without mowing. Now, can barely wait a week but I still do. I'm not doing the yard at my house except every 2 weeks. No neighbor on one side and the other can't really see my grass.

I read that two people testified Saturday in the penalty phase of Warren Jeffs trial. One a woman and another, a man. The woman was molested by him when she was very young and the man was molested when he was just 5 years old. Jeffs took him out of a church service and assaulted him in a bathroom. Told him it was God's will.

I'm getting a spiritual message that God wants Jeff's willy cut off. Death and/or life in prison is way too good for him.

I can't understand why any of the people in those cults would want anything to do with a God that would want any of that stuff to happen. I'd be an instant athiest.

I never knew this kind of stuff went on in this country. I knew about poligemy but not what has been going on in these sects. I do believe that some of the politicians in the states where these sects reside, Utah and Arizona, knew about this. I think that all of them should not only be impeached but also charged with aiding and abetting in those crimes.

I pray that the people of this country do not let up the pressure in stopping this horror from happening until every last member of these cults gets out. This is not something we can ignore or go back to business as usual.

And after they get all of the top men in that sect, they need to go after the women. The first should be that woman who was Jeff's scribe. She is one of his wives. She kept a written record of everything he did.

Coreen, the Yanks are on ESPN tonight. Jeter sure has been impressive tonight. He's earning his paycheck.

Impressive pics...I know there are bears, but
are those eagles too...

Yes Carol, Derek is just the best...I get really tired of all those naysayers who keep
saying he's old, past his prime, yada,yada,yada...

But that said I am not a happy camper tonite...they should not have lost with CC yesterday, & as this game continues, the odds
are the yankees won't win...being in boston & all...but I'm here til its over...lots of
bad language being uttered too...

The Grandkids just got back to Colo after their trip to Alaska. They had a wonderful visit with Gary's (my GS) aunt on his mother's side. Yes, those are eagles and bears. I can't believe they were so lucky to get pics of all the wild life. My granddaughter in law has a great new camera and she is doing a great job. I think she is the one who took most of pics.

jan said...

I agree Carol, Alaska would be a great place to be this summer. See how they are dressed.

I bet you are looking forward to weather where you don't have to mow so much.

jan said...

Ditto on Jeffs. He is the worst kind of pedophile. I hear they are not treated to well in the prison system.

jan said...

Coreen, LOL on the bad language. I do some of that too.

jan said...

We are leaving for OK in the morning. My sis wants John to do the funeral service for her husband. We will be in Weatherford tomorrow night - then Tulsa.

Carol said...

Jan..I don't know what they do in other jails/prisons but at our joint..they keep most of the sex offenders in the same place. I think that's a good idea.

Jeffs is such a perv..he probably likes just about every sexual perversion. Maybe not getting drilled.

Carol said...

Saw that homer Coreen.

Carol said...

Jan..how long was your sister's husband really sick before he died? I understand that she hasn't been in the best of health. Maybe she can now focus on herself.

Carol said...

I dunno Coreen...I'm feeling kinda good about the game!

Carol said...

Maybe cuz I'm getting to watch for a change. More fun to watch the real thing than watch that stick game.

Carol said...

I still have the stick game up because it gives the statistics.

Carol said...

What's weird is..my stick game is ahead of the TV game.

Carol said...

I can hear you cursing now with those two wild pitches....but whew..they got out of it OK.

Carol, he was diagnosed with lung CA in Nov. 3 years ago. They took out some of his lungs. Then they did chemo and radiation 2 years ago. He actually did quite well until about 6 or so months ago then started choking when he swallowed and got to where he got real SOB when he moved around much. Sis says he got up to go to BR and to shower and that was about it. We saw him in May and he looked much worse than the last time we had seen him in March. Then when we went 3 weeks ago, I knew he would not be around long. So he has been pretty sick for about 3 months.

jan said...

My sis has had Crohns since age 27 and she is now 68. She has had 3 resections of her intestines and has had a colostomy for about 4-5 years. She has a port and hooks herself up to TPN 5 nights a week for 8-9 hours/night. If she does not do that her wt gets low. Without the TPN she probably would not be here. With TPN she can keep her wt between 90-100 lbs. She is about 5 ft tall. She has severe osteoporosis and has to be extremely careful not to break any bones. She has a tremendous will to live and takes care of all of this without any help. She could teach people about colostomies and TPN. She is an expert.

jan said...

Coreen, good luck to your yanks.

I am off to bed. Hope to pop in here tomorrow night. I have a meeting at work that i need to attend before we leave.

Carol said...

Jan, you guys be careful driving today.

Coreen..I'm sorry about the game. When I fell asleep..they lost. Couldn't keep my eyes open.

Anonymous said...

Thats ok Carol, another 49 games to go...but I really hate getting beat by the red sox...I say again that is the only team I really hate & their fans too, maybe even more...

Anonymous said...

Jan, again sorry for you & your family's loss...stay safe on your solemn journey...and
though I don't know him, I think that John
will provide the caring and comforting presense
for all of you...

Carol said...

Who do we play next Coreen? The Angels? Can we please kick their butts?

Carol said...

Coreen, I like the yankees cuz they're your team but I don't hold anything against Boston fans. I think that R Renee is a Boston fan. I like her even though I'm sticking with the Yankees. I've even had some grief over that from my fellow southerners. It's not as much hate as you might think though.

I do understand the rivalry there is with those teams. Sometimes it can be extreme like that Giant's fan who was beaten into a coma. I think he was a Giant's fan wasn't he?? That's crazy and criminal.

Carol said...

Warren Jeffs just got his karma, life plus 20 years. God bless Texas.

jan said...

We are in Tulsa. It is tues at noon. I could not get into computer last night- John got into his. I think it was the weather. We had some really bad wind about 30 miles before Weatherford - 3 eighteen wheelers turned over on the highway. TV said 95 an hour winds. We just missed it.

Over to see Sis now. Back tonight. This is a good motel - no password and right into computer.

Carol said...

Darn Jan, you guys were lucky you missed that storm. Do you think it might have been a tornado or just straight line winds?

How is your sister doing?

jan said...

Straight line winds. No tornado.

Can't sleep. It is thundering.

My sister is tired and in pain with the shingles. She has some patches for the pain the doc gave her yesteday and some other meds for pain. She has one area on her back, one under her arm and 2 across her chest. It is hard for her to be away from home. Service is thurs at 10 am. I will be glad when it is all over - for her. I think she will be fine then.

jan said...

We met here at the motel yesterday evening - her daughter, Sis and John and I to plan the service. She did not even feel like staying for dinner.

jan said...

thurnder, lightening, driving rain last night. Went down to the lobby to read from 2-4. enjoyed the rain and storm. We never have this in albuq.

jan said...

Finally to sleep about 4:30 - slept until 8:30. Feel fine.

jan said...

I am glad I have a job!

Carol said...

Could you explain that last comment Jan? Any particular reason?

Carol said...

I'm getting ready for my first short getaway for pleasure. Wish I was going somewhere cool. I think it will be warmer in NO than it is here.

I'm taking off tomorrow so I can do my weekend chores before I go. Just finished giving Maggie a bad haircut and a good bath. She's hiding right now.

jan said...

Carol, in my comment about a "job" I was referring to the stock market drops in past week.

jan said...

Carol, just enjoy your long weekend.

I love your comment about giving Maggie a bad haircut. Does she usually hide after her haircut and bath. Who is keeping Maggie while you are gone?

jan said...

Today is John's annual "39th" Birthday. Happy Birthday Dear John. He has spent most of the day working on the service he is doing for my sister's husband tomorrow morning.

jan said...

We are leaving the funeral home and heading back toward Alb. - staying again in Weatherford tomorrow night.

Carol said...

Yep Jan.. those critters in Washington want to make sure those of us supporting them keep working until we drop while they and their rich friends hide their money who knows where.

I've avoided the regular news for many weeks now by watching all those crime stories. I took a peek at the regular news and it's worse than the murder and mayhem I've been following.

I knew that another big crash was coming. That didn't surprise me.

Carol said...

Happy Birthday John.

Carol, have fun in NO, regardless of the weather...was only there once, kinda remember
waling in the latin qtr, driving over the lake ponchatrain bridge, but thats about it....

Is NO far away, flying/driving?...hope you can
find time for a few pics too...

Carol said...

E-trade baby's reaction

jan said...

Carol, enjoy your NO adventure. I hope it is cooler. We are in Weatherford. My computer is working, yaaay!

the funeral service went well. John, as always, did a great job! I slept all the way to Weatherford. I am getting like a baby - can't sleep in my bed, but as soon as I get in a car - I sleep great.

jan said...

Have you all seen the reports about eating processed meats. And here we have been eating at Subway instead of McDonalds on our trips.

jan said...

Carol, are you driving to NO?

jan said...

Ditto Coreen. Take pics Carol.

Carol said...

Jan, I'm glad the funeral went well. I knew John would do a great job.

I took the day off today to do all my weekend chores. I have most of them done so now it's time to get packed up. We're driving. It's a little over 3 hours to get there.

Now, I have to take Maggie to doggy camp. I was worried about that since the kennels are outside. They are on a nice breeze way but it's dang hot outside and Maggie doesn't get to spend hardly anytime outside since her mama is so heat intolerant. She get about 20 seconds to do her business and then I drag her in.

I talked to Doggy camp lady a little while ago and she said they aren't going to be staying outside because of the heat. Whew!

Carol said...

And guess what???? I just talked to the friend I'm going with and her son got us two tickets to go to a Saint's game tomorrow night. Can you believe that? She was waiting to surprise me. It's a preseason game and they are playing the 49ers. I've never been to a pro football game.

And yes, I gased up my camera for my trip. I will be taking pics.

Well, off to bring the Magster to camp. Be back later.

jan said...

So glad to hear little Magster will be staying inside. I am relieved for you and her to hear this.

BTW, loved the video of ETrade baby.

jan said...

I have to tell you all that I have an issue with using babies or children to project adult ideas and language. I am really surprised that no one has objected to this in the media.

jan said...

Wow Carol, what a great deal to go to a Saint's game. If it is televised where we live I will watch and look for you.

Carol said...

Jan, it's a preseason game and I think will only be on local cable channels and those NFL total season cable or satelite networks subscriptions.

Carol said...

And sorry, I just love those E-trade baby commercials. They're my favorites.

Carol said...

I don't think E trade baby is being stressed Jan. I bet they are just videoing baby and then putting together pics and ideas. All babies have videos done.

Now what I think is horrible is those pagents they have for those tots and young children. That's abuse.

Carol said...

In Aimes Iowa..in addition to the straw poll..they are giving 5 buck gallbladder tests. For 5 bucks you get some fried butter on a stick. If that don't explode your gallbladder..it's in good shape.

I quess mine is not in good shape because I'm getting quesy just thinking about it.

Carol said...

I wouldn't worry about your Subway sandwiches Jan. I would try to avoid that fried butter on a stick though.

Carol said...

Looks like Obama may have freed Liz Warren up to run for the Senate. We need a lot of her type to clean out the entire bunch of them. Heard that most people don't even like their very own critter anymore.

Carol said...

Heard last night on the Jimmy Fallon Show that 9 million people watch Jersey Shores. I think that indicates we have some serious problems in this country.

That is just one of the forms of mindless entertainment. Doesn't require you do any thinking there.

Carol said...

I had no doubt that we have some serious problems in this country but I'm still not sure exactly why people continue to elect such crooks to run it. Elect these rich people who could care less about any of the real problems..who only care about keeping rich people rich and making the middle class pay for it. And they also want to destroy any safety nets for those in the middle class if they get into any trouble.

I still believe that there is something that is involved in controlling the minds of the electorate. Still think that possibly the overuse of some of these antidepressants might be involved. Many people who take them seem to want to avoid thinking about anything stressful and sometimes even anything intellectual. Kinda difficult to come up with any solutions to problems if we ignore them.

Does seem like things took a nose dive about the same time antidepressants became so popular.

Anonymous said...

Carol, have a safe trip....enjoy the game...
could you take some pics of the Saints dome
to have when the season gets going....

As for Jimmy Fallon, he should be so lucky to
ever have 9 million viewers...

And that would be the same Jimmy Fallon who paid $35,800 to be in the presence of Obama
the other night at a Manhattan fundraiser given by Harvey Weinstein....

Lest we forget they are all such magnificent hypocrites...both sides of the aisle...

Carol said...

I agree, I dislike both sides.

Stopped at a strip mall. I finished getting what I needed. Waiting.

jan said...

We just got home. So good!

Carol, bet you are on your way or maybe already in NO. You have not said much about the friend you are going with.

Have a good drink of something fun. I love the food in New Orleans. No better any place I have been.

jan said...

I do agree about the politics stuff. I am disappointed in most of our public servants. I think it would be great if Eliz Warren is elected to the Senate. I wish Hillary was back in the senate too.

jan said...

Heck-fire, we need some more good women in the Senate and the House.

Carol said...

Got to NO and went to the game. We were up high and that was scary. Have a little fear of heights in my old age. The boys won 25 to 3. Brees didn't play much. Took pics.

Carol said...

Coreen Jimmy wasn't making fun of Jersey Shore, I was, so hit me with your best shot. Jimmy had Snookie on his show and was bragging about how many people watched her show. she's actually pretty amusing in a interview. It's all those people watching a show where people get drunk and puke that I don't understand. Sorry if it's your fav show.

jan said...

Glad you got to your game and they won Carol.

Never watched Jersey Shore. Sorry Coreen.

I am not doing well today. John is participating in his best friend's funeral today. It is at a Presbyterian church. Went to the wrong one. So will miss it. John may be pissed at me. oh well!

We are keeping little CeCe again - little white dog. She likes coming to our house. I take her for walks. The last time she was here, she slept in our upstairs bathroom. I made her a comfy bed and had her water in there too. She slept with my son and his wife in bed. I have never let a dog sleep in a bed. She does get on the couch with me. When she went home, she started sleeping in their bathroom. Go figure!

Carol said...

Dont go on vacation in august in NO. We've done a lot of
walking in the steamy heat and there were moments I worried about my survival.

Carol said...

There were all these people in red cheap dresses, everywhere. Included guys and girls. Ya know guys in dresses isn't anything new for NO but with the number of guys involved there would have to be an epidemic of transvestitism. I finally asked and was told it was some kind of charity run. The way these people were partying, I don't think they could run to the bathroom fast. I got pics and it's a good thing it's not scratch and sniff. Pew e. Didn't bring Lappy, on Iphony.

I'm up early. Have to try to keep with my schedule. I can also sneak on some news. Ya know that no one likes to keep up with the news like I do.

Carol said...

Heard that CA has to return to Orlando to serve her probation. Judge Perry didn't let me down with that ruling. Serving probation while in protective custody was a big joke. I'm sure her shifty attorneys will find a way to stay that order.

jan said...

looking forward to seeing your pictures Carol.

jan said...

I enjoyed a quiet day at home. John went with his best friend's wife and family to take best friend's ashes to Ghost Ranch to scatter them.
