Finance your Mosque with people who hate our hate.

If you don't have the money to finance your project, you need a good marketing plan. What better way to do it than to get everyone on the news talking about your project, ad nauseam. It's best if that project is controversial so it will get the attention of the news media. This one is perfect. And hate seems to be a good part of that marketing plan. .

Since Fox News does have the biggest viewing audience, and they love to stir the sh--, this sh-- in particular, they are doing the best advertisement for this Muslim Community Center and I bet it is all for free. Hmmmmm. I still think it is a brilliant marketing plan. I bet there is money rolling in somewhere whether this center is built near ground zero or not.

Jon Stewart made some connections last night that proposed the question....."is Fox News a Terrorist Command Center?" He used some silly connections Murdock has with questional people. Jon used the kind of connections their Network is often quilty of making. It was funny but...what is it they say about things that are said in jest?....they are often true.

Since it has been reported that this project had no financing, if they do actually get the money together, we will know that it was financed by....people who hate our hate.

And the Emon, however you spell it, is currently touring the Middle East, compliments of the State Department. Do you think he might pick up a few donations over there for his project now, without even officially asking?

If anyone, anyone, has a new post you want to put up, please do. This is just what I was pondering this morning. If you turn on the news today, there's not much more you can ponder. I really am sick of this ponder and wish they would all STFU about it!

Carol, you have someone from Kuwait tuning into the swamp this morning. Take a look. TGIF right back atcha.

I am back to work PT. I have been asked to be a Marshall at Convocation today. One of my favorite things to do. I love to see our little baby students begin and then watch them as they graduate. Go nursing grads. Go out there and make me proud!

Good post Carol. You always give us something to think about - oops - Ponder!

Have fun today!

I still don't think their
choice for placement of that community center is
a good idea. It will be close to a
bar and strip club. I don't think
their clientele would
appreciate it being
there even though one
of the stripers said it was cool with her. Too bad we don't all have the tolerance of a stipper. LOL

Oh, and I want to make a recommendation to Obama. He might need to think about having Jesus tattooed on one of his arms. He does like to take his shirt off and that tattoo might save him from having to set up a photo op, with his family, at one of the churches in Washington DC. He can just flash that tattoo every now and again.

Carol, you managed to get your last thoughts in under the wire...tick tock tick tock...but now its the weekend...so hope everyone gets to
relax at least a little...

Not much to add to your ponder...

Hope you manage to deal with SF w/o too much
stress...

I'm working on that speech Coreen.

I really wasn't trying to be serious today Coreen. It was my attempt at sarcastic humor. So, it didn't work out.

For some good news...the La Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries is working on a proposal to reintroduce Whooping Cranes to our area.
Whoopee! They use to live here many years ago.

"The Whooping Crane (Grus americana), the tallest North American bird, is an endangered crane species named for its whooping sound and call. Along with the Sandhill Crane, it is one of only two crane species found in North America. The whooping crane's lifespan is estimated to be 22 to 24 years in the wild. There is an estimate of only 400+ left in the wild."

Ya know our last several presidents seemed to be defiant is some sort of way. Clinton, in "don't tell me I can't hit on women", George in "don't tell me I have to sound intelligent", and now Obama, in "don't tell me I have to do anything you want me to do".

I'm still trying Coreen.

Hi folks, had a nice Friday nite. 9 year old GD came over while her parents went to a party. We went out for ice cream. She is a sweetie. We played 21 and she is getting good. We are up past our bedtime. Good nite.

Fishing was real slow here at the Swamp yesterday. It's like that at times. Sometimes when that happens I try changing bait a time or two. Sometimes I just stick with the same bait I like using. That's what nice about the Swamp. There are no real rules here. And if there were, the rules police didn't jump in to mention one.

Jan, I was wondering why you just TGIF? It's seems to me that after you retire, you would TGIF,S,S,M,T,W,T. Why is Friday still special? Is it just a habit? Actually, TGIF ain't that big a deal to me anymore. Saturday isn't particularly a day I get to look forward to. It can be more distressing than the other five.

When some people retire, like SF, every day is distressing. Some people aren't cut out for retirement. They don't know what to do with themselves. That is the case with SF. He never learned how to relax and really enjoy himself. Hard work was his pleasure. Well, I'm not sure if it was his pleasure or he was just a glutten for punishment all his life.

I remember some of the early years being around SF. His philosophy was "idle time is the Devil's workshop". Really. He even said that every now and again. I could tell that he judged us in how hard we were willing to work. I did some real busting my ass when I was around him. That's kinda why I was his favorite. Being hyperthyroid all those years made that a little easier. I couldn't sit still. And if I was stressed about something, it was even worse.

One year, when SF had his open heart surgery, I plowed up a garden area he had fenced in. It was probably about 50ft x 25ft, at least. Digging in the soil was very therapeutic for me. I plowed up that garden using a shovel and a baby tiller. And the soil was rock pan hard. My baby tiller was bouncing off the ground. I looked like a mole on speed.

Actually planting that garden was really done for mom. She was the one who really appreciated a vegetable garden and what she could eat out of it. SF just appreciated my work ethic.

Many a time I planted that entire garden to work off some steam but, as always was the case, summer showed up. Plowing and planting was done in the cool of early Spring. Then the weeds started growing and the intolerable heat set in. It always amazed me how weeds will grow faster and hardier than anything else. They always ended up taking over the garden and I couldn't be there all the time to keep up with them. I wouldn't have even wanted to.

Once, I even collected and covered the entire garden with a ton of oak leaves but those weeds found their way through them. If we can find the secret of how those weeds have become so hardy, we can find the secret to everlasting life.

I think that's because the weeds are in their element, Carol. The stuff we're planting is us messing around with nature - trying to outsmart what comes (or doesn't come) naturally. Nature doesn't need to 'make' things happen, they just do (they just 'are').

Jan, I hope you let us know how your first days at work have going, and if you're enjoying them. Are you working everyday? Whatever it is, I hope you're glad to be back (I already know that they appreciate you!)

Carol, it sounds like you are really in your element out "fishin on the river." I wish I liked to fish. It just never appealed to me. I am somewhat of a "hothouse" flower. I love walking outside if it is not too hot. I don't like the heat and sun. Actually the sun has always given me a headache. I wear very dark sunglasses out when I walk.

I also loved hearing about all the work you did on your SF's farm working the soil and putting in a garden. We have a great area for a garden in our back yard - and yes- it is now just weeds. I don't care for gardening. I did a bunch of weeding a few weeks ago - and wound up with bad back pain. John has asthma so he can't garden either. I think we will keep the house a few more years and then get a condo. I love flowers so will probably just have a few pots of flowers.

Hi Chloe, I did have 2 home visits this week to do health screenings with families in Head Start. A home visit takes me about 3 hours from start to finish - driving there, doing the assessment and then the write-up. I will do about 3 of those a week. This is my primary responsibility. I am expected to put in 10 hours a week. Some weeks may be a little longer and some a little shorter. I do enjoy this type of work. So it does not seem like work. This fall, I won't have students with me, but will in the spring. I love this type of work because it is working with young families.
