I went to Facebook yesterday to see if Chloe ever listed her birthday and it said Jan's birthday is tomorrow. What fortunate timing. Thanks Solar. I don't think anyone else has listed their birthdays. Chickens...

Carol, what a surprise. Thank you for this bright and cheery picture and birthday greeting. I did not realize my b'day was on Facebook. I have not gone to facebook in so long. You are right, 4/13 is the day I was born it was Easter.

I woke up at 3 am this morning - just could not sleep any longer. Lobie got up with me. She thought it was her breakfast time. I explained to her that it was too early. She eats when we get up - between 5-7 am. She is pretty good about waiting.

So Chloe,we all are waiting - when is your birthday. It is a lovely thing - to have friends remember your birthday so -Fess up!

Jan, hope you have a great day today. Do you have to work?

As for John, I'd have him see a cardiologist. Think he should maybe do one of those Holter monitors to make sure he is not having some kind of arrhythmias causing his dizziness and the syncopal episode. It's non invasive, it just monitors what your heart is doing over a period, thru sleep and activity.

Also you can check his Bp and his pulse rate and rhythm when he is feeling funny. Look at his medications. Some can cause dizziness. There are so many things that can cause dizziness.

Of course, it might be his fall that is causing his dizziness. Did he lose consciousness when he hit the ground?

Just the allergy stuff has many feeling dizzy right now. That's due to the allergy affect on the inner ear but because he had that nasty fall and his age, I wouldn't just write it off as that.

I've been stressing about work. I told you my big boss told me the other day that my job was the only one that was safe at my hospital. When I have gotten that kind of compliment in the past, it's always coupled with, now what else can you do for us. I'm not kidding about that.

Five years and I have not had one minute that I can actually call my own. Any minute the phone can ring and start me stressing. I stress just thinking about that. I do whine about it but haven't come up with any reasonable alternatives.

I've studied the medical staff at other institutions about our size and they have a lot more than just a me to do the job but now their looking at something else they can stuff into my work responsibility.

It's always been my experience that when you kill yourself for a job, you don't get any thanks or respect for it, someone just looks for something else you can do, to finish you off.

Carol, thanks for all those suggestions. He did lose consciousness - but I don't know for how long. He thinks for several minutes. Someone at the YMCA said 15 seconds but he tells me that when he first remembers anything, the paramedics were there and it takes more than 15 seconds for them to get there.

His thyroid and statins should not cause dizziness but his inhalers probably do. It could be allergies. I will check is vitals when he is dizzy. He sees his regular doc every 3 months now so I will go with him on his next visit and see about these things.

Carol, I agree that if you are a responsible employee, you get the work piled on as much as you will take. I hope you can find some way to reduce the stress and get some more time off.

Any loss of consciousness is usually considered having a concussion. That indicates brain trauma and can cause several problems that can last for a while. Did they do a CT scan of his brain? That also might be indicated.

jan said...

Carol, have you looked around for any other jobs? Would you even consider something else?

jan said...

They did not do a CT scan of his brain - but they gave him some literature on concussions. I think that is what is going on and he does too. He is pretty careful when he is dizzy now. His dizziness is not just when he is standing up, but also sometimes when he just turns his head. He was at the univ hosp which is the major trauma center - so I think his treatment was good. My understanding is they don't like to do the CT and other scans unless other symptoms indicate it - for the cost and for the possible long term effects. I think John's age has something to do with their not doing the Scan too.

Happy, Happy Birthday Jan!
What a beautiful day to celebrate. April has to be one of the best months of the year.

Like Carol, I hope you have a great day today! Will you and John be going out to dinner?

Jan, just for fun, from cafe astrology:

Born April 13 - Your Year Ahead
You are likely to make new and stimulating connections this year and to have a strong need for sharing interests with others. You are especially imaginative and creative, and channeling this energy into something productive can bring rewards. You may be finishing off important projects this year as you instinctively prepare for a new chapter in your life. Loving and mind-expanding relationships are more easily attracted in the year ahead.

... I think it is interesting that it talks about you finishing off important projects this year, and preparing for a new chapter in your life.

Jan,

Happy birthday.! enjoy a true holiday. I would not let your husband do any more exercises until he is thoroughly checked out and given an ok to do so.!!

I celebrate my birthday alone..for 24 hrs....I get up (used to) at midnight and get my exercise in, take a nice long shower.....go have a big breakfast, visit a cpl of parks that we played a lot of sport at....( great memoirs) and start hitting the museums, walk around down town, go to the Shea aquarium, maybe call a friend and take her/him out for lunch....don't tell them whey...

I take my time around the city..then take my wife out for a birthday dinner. the last things that i do is to visit a park where i played a lot of sports at...hit a cpl of pubs that are still owned by the same families...get home around 12:30 the next day, and get some rest......i think that this year on July 24th i will go golfing...9 holes early in the am.....

Chloe it's yr turn ....and all of the others...this is a true holiday imo

Chloe, thank you so much for the birthday wishes. Yes, we will go out for a quiet birthday dinner later this evening.

thank you also for the "cafe astrology" How interesting about finishing projects for a new chapter in my life.

Solar, thank you for your kind thoughts. I love hearing what you will be doing for your birthday. It is lovely to hear what others enjoy for their birthday.

Since I awoke so early (3 am), I finished my retirement packet that I have been working on about 5 am. John arose about 6 am and we visited and then I took a 2 hour nap. So now am ready for the day.

Love to all of you - my friends - here at the Swamp. I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

What's you sun sign Chloe? How about the rest of yous?

Jan, I do love working in corrections but just don't want to be abused anymore. I'm trying to grow a backbone and that's not easy to do at my age, and with osteoporosis. The only way I know how to change is to get really angry about the way things are, and that finally happens after I've put up with way too much for way too long. I don't have to guts to do anything until I've built up a really good mad. It's certainly not a healthy way to make changes but it has been the only way I know to do it.

Then when you try to change, as I mentioned before, they look at you like you have lost your mind. I pretty much have to lose some of it to get things to change. No one really respects anyone who allows others to abuse them.

Carol, It's all about setting limits. Just let whoever you have to let know, know that you've taken on more than you can handle, and that it's going to have to change. Then delegate some of the responsibility to others, and make sure everyone knows what's expected from them. You should probably write it down.

After that, stick to your guns.

I'm a Pisces. My birthday was the last day of that god awful month, February.

Carol, I'm the same way as you - I usually have to get mad in order to make changes, and sometimes even that doesn't work.

I've been doing a little 'Spring' cleaning, and I've decided to give up my 'pack rat' ways. I'm actually beginning to succeed, and have thrown out quite a bit of stuff, but have a long ways to go. Hope I can stay in the groove long enough to get 'er done.

Carol said...

Well, just thanks Chloe for letting us pass it up without a little celebration. Rats. I knew that was going to happen. You always make over everyone else but won't let anyone make over you. That's also something you need to work on.

... I have a lot of things I need to work on Carol.

Don't want the day to pass by without wishing Happy Birthday to Jan. Hope you had a great day. No one deserves it more. Glad to know you were born on Easter Sunday and not Friday the Thirteenth. Of course, if you had been, that would have been your lucky day!

:)

I just saw one Love bug couple on my door outside. We got by all last year without much of a Love bug problem. Will we be lucky again? Also, I haven't seen any hatchings of those ugly Lubber grasshopper that hang out around the river. They usually start hatching out around March.

Neither have any preditors except for windshield for the Love Bugs and my big feet for the grasshoppers. I'm forced to do the Lubber stomp. It is good exercise but I'd rather find some other way to get it.

Didn't get a visual on BBV today but I think he's back up in the Cypress owl tree, his home base. I think he's up on the highest branch on the tree but I can't see up there because it is directly above my head and the branch is too big. I saw mama bring food up there and the neighbor did think he saw him up there. He can see up there from his place. If it is him up there he had to do some pretty good hop flying to get there. He's definitely making progress.

Ivy, thank you for your birthday wishes. I do think of the #13 as my lucky number.

Chloe, I agree with Carol. Now I know when your birthday is. You don't need to tell the year.

I just linked two funny Tina Fey videos from SNL last weekend, that I found on Huff Post. I got one of those error messages and don't want to start over. The comment may show up later, sometime it does. If not, you can go to Huffington Post and find them.

13 is also my lucky number Jan. How was dinner tonight? How is John feeling?

Nite. Happy three more hours of BD.

I have put up a new post. Thanks to all for the wonderful birthday wishes. I had a great day.
