Beautiful Saturday
It has been a beautiful day here. The temperature has been perfect. We attended our 10 year old GD's soccer tournament. It was fun watching her and the other girls play. They play so hard. Her dad is one of the coaches for his daughter's team. The soccer field was in a beautiful setting with the mountains well within view. We also saw a beautiful monarche butterfly on one of the flowering bushes in front of our house.

Carol, The comment section is not to 200 yet but wanted to share my day with all of you here.
GD is the shortest one in the picture with dark hair. That is her on the field in the other picture too with the mountains in the background. She has on a yellow shirt in that pic because she is the goalie.
Great pics Jan. I've told you..you can put up a new post every day if you want to. There is no time limit or comment limit.
When a new post goes up..the others are still there. If we wait until we hit 200 it could take a month. If you look back to the beginning of this blog..we often had a new post every day. We've even had two in a day before.
What's the name of the flowers?
Darrell Hammond co hosted CNNs coverage of the Washington Correspondent Dinner. He's a comedian but he comes across with a strangely flat affect. I think he's on too many meds. I'm serious. He does have a history of Bipolar Disorder.
I wonder if you flowers are in the chrysanthemum family? The leaves look like it.
Your GD is sooo cute. I don't know why anyone would mind being short except when it comes to getting something off a high shelf. Then..being taller comes in handy.
I think the cutest clothes are in the petite section of the store. (and often in the plus size also).
Everything petite is cute..even petite feet. Petite shoes are cuter. You may have to hem your pants but at least that is possible. Can't add material to the legs if you're tall and the pants are too short. You have a much bigger selection of dates cuz you don't have to worry about towering over a guy. I could go on.
I could see how retirement could be disorienting. I went all day thinking yesterday was Sunday. Yeap. Maybe not all day but most of the day. I was sooo happy when I realized that it is only Sunday today. Still have that extra day off for vacation.
I don't know if I've ever enjoyed a vacay so much. I think it would be different if it were winter or dead of summer. Can't really get outside at those times and I couldn't handle being couped up for long.
I am going to have to go to a nursery to find out what the flowering bush is. It blooms a lot during the summer into the fall.
Not fun to be short Carol. I am 5 ft 1 in and I cannot reach anything. I have stacking washer and dryer and getting where cannot reach controls on dryer. We are going to have to move them downstairs in basement since I am having difficulty with this. I could use a step-stool but so inconvenient. I have a little room downstairs that I use for storage now anyway and we have our bedroom downstairs so that will work better anyway and then I will have a laundry room. Terry is going to arrange all that for me.
If I could choose my height, I would be about 5ft 7 in. My oldest GD is that ht and I think that would be perfect.
All my GD's are taller. I hope littlest one in the pic is taller than me. I have one GD who is 6 ft tall and is only 14. Steve is her dad. He is 6 ft 1 in and her mom is 5 ft 10.
Thanks Jan, never get tired of seeing those mountains...and your joy & love of your family comes through each time you invite us into your circle....
As far as the 50 shades of gray book...my cousin did read it & she said it was definitely steamy....not on my list but it continues at the top of the NYT ebooks &paperback lists....
TW, politics is an acquired taste
& honestly after ahile it leaves
a bitter taste, so not a bad idea
to just ignore it...
As for why you know so much about my team, maybe just maybe deep inside you appreciate their history & their always striving to be the absolute best there is...
As for those stick figure games Carol checks out...Carol you'd have
to explain it again, I know there
is somewhere on the yankees website that you can see what is happening 'live'....
Yes, now I remember Carol told me she watches it on her computer and thats how the players are represented on the screen, I thought she meant something "different" happened in the game itself, I know what she was talking about now. Yeah, Carol and I were really into it when George was President, never a dull moment when George was the "Decider"......
Well, when I was a child I remember watching the Yankees cause I loved Roger Maris, so good looking..... But growing up in Atlanta, I loved the Braves and you of all people know the history of the sweep in The World Series by the Yanks over the Braves, I think it was 1997. I really don't "hate" the Yankees , their tradition is deep and I do respect that about them, but A-Rod I saw on some interview show last night is now dating a woman wrestler named Tori Wilson, she is very pretty, but looks like she could take him down easy.....
Jan.....I am sooooo jealous of your gorgeous scenery. I love the west , been out there several times, The Grand Canyon, Carlsbad,Painted Desert.....just some beautiful places out there. I do have a dream of traveling again out there but all of my dreams are on hold now, my 79 yr. old Mother lives with me with some serious memory problems, plus no one I know my age is retired like I am. Well, I'm actually retired due to a disability, I'm on social security at age 58, it does have it's perks over 35 years of shift work in the Petro chemical industry. I worked in the lab at W.R. Grace, we produced cracking catalyst that is used to refine oil into gasoline. Traveling alone would not be much fun I don't think
Dang Coreeen, you've got me watching the Yanks and the Tigers on TBS.....aaarrrggghhh......
What can I say, T!!!...Come on over
& remember how much fun it was cheering for the Yankees!!!...
Some trivia...remember they don't have names on the back of their uniforms....at the beginning of every home game, the bleacher creatures chant each Yankee player's name...sometimes on YES & the radio you can hear them in the background...& when the Yankees win at home, New York, New York by
Frank Sinatra is played at the end of the game...
You can still cheer for your Braves in the National League at the same time...
And naturally in June, when your Braves play my Yankees, we can respectfully disagree for those 6 games...
Carol, you get to be the diplomat then, I guess...
They are on TV & radio at the same time all around the house...TBS
is blacked out here right now...& if you are watching, it is indeed
a beautiful day here...but I am
ironing & hemming jeans( naturally the game is on)...being 5'2"
I have to take about 2" off all my
jeans/pants...
Coreen..did you get the gardenia pic I sent you?
Yes, transfered it to my pictures so that I can try to get them on FB background...
What was the background in looked red?...
Georgia, my hubby is almost as old as your mother. and yes, we both have some memory issues- involving "what is that actor's name" or what was the name of that movie?"
Glad you like the west. I must admit I was not that impressed the 1st and 2nd times I came here. I was all of about 21-22 years old the first time. It just looked awfully brown to me then. The second time I came here was in 1979 and I missed taller trees and grass.
Now I love it here. It did grow on me.
Georgia, hope you do make it out here one of these days soon.
Coreen, I am not looking for "steamy" in my reading materials in recent years. I enjoy a well-written novel, not necessarily a romance novel. The Hunter Games have been interesting. I read them because one DIL and a couple of grandchldren were reading them. I liked the 1st and 2nd ones but the 3rd one is not that good but going to finish it.
I do like biographies and interesting memoirs.
Carol, I have been looking on line for the name of the flowering bush I posted. I think it might be a "butterfly bush or plant" They come in a variety of colors and do well in this soil and climate here (where we have little water).
Coreen..I used one of my red aprons to give some contrast for the white gardenias.
I'm watching the game too Coreen. I've already been to Walmart today. Worked on my boat. Made several trips to the house for stuff I needed to do work here.
I'm pooped and vegging on the couch..watching the game. I am going back to the house today.
Congrats to Coreen! Yankees won. I must admit, I watched it all. Also, thanks for the trivia on the Bronx Bombers, like I said you gotta respect the tradition. And their next 24 games, 16 are at home.
Congrats Coreen, another win for your Yankees.
Well..I came home..fixed the Magster and I dinner and then crashed on the couch. I dropped into a coma. Just woke up a little while ago. The TV was blasting..I was laying on the remote.
I don't mind waking up in the middle of the night when I'm off. I can nap any old time I want. Love it.
The weather has been such a blessing for me on my vacay. This vacay has been a gift from God. Thank you God.
And you might like to know Coreen..that with all my working in the yard..digging in some places that haven't been uncovered in years..I haven't seen a single snake. I've been watching.
Seems the only time I see them is when big sis is here. Then they are literally falling out of the sky.
I also had fun today wrestling with the other cowpokes on the Trail. They do give me a workout. They present some compelling material to point out just what a disappointment the O man has been then tell me we should vote for him anyway??
I call that cognitive dissonance or that new word that Patd came up with today.."akrasia". You'll have to go over there for the definition for that one.
I found out the RR is related to our Cajuns down here. Instead of calling her a coonass as we affectionately refer to our peeps here..I decided to call her a "bearass". She has some of them up in her neck of the woods.
We worry about the raccoon's getting our birdseed down here. She has to worry about the bears getting hers.
I'm also all lined up to ride in a Manwich between Tony and Solar in the Kentucky Derby. Can't wait. We're going with the horse that our little Cajun..Calvin Borel.. is driving..Take Charge Indy.
Haven't had time to study that horse yet. I learned..in my time moonlighting as a track nurse..that those thoroughbred horses..running long distance races..do run to form. They were the only races that did. In those short quarter horse races..anything could and did happen. If the horse farts..he loses..or wins. It depends on how much gas is involved.
Did you hear the Prez Slow Jamming the News with Jimmy Fallon?
Slow Jamming the News
Well..I just finished one of my least desirable chores on the list. Well..lets make that almost finished. I needed to change the guts in one of my toilets. I bought a universal kit. They say universal but nothing is totally universal.
The part that seals the flow after you flush was not universal. So it's back to Walmart to get something that looks like what I have. It has stopped running constantly but that rubber part is rotten and I still have to push it down. It won't take a minute to replace that...when I get a new one.
It's not like I'm gonna save myself a plumber..I still need one for several other chores that are way beyond my scope. My kitchen faucet needs changing and one of my outside drain pipes has a leak. Not going after those chores.
Well..I did fix the toilet except that I found other problems with it. The turn off valve will not turn completely off. I ordered a plumber to fix that..change my kitchen faucet and fix a drain pipe outside.
I still have to pressure wash the house. I think I do that on my next vacation.
Are you on vacation this week Carol?
Carol, you are so handy around the house. Any kind of plumbing just not anything I want to learn to do. They only thing I can do is when the inner works of the toilet not working like that little chain comes undone, I can fix that.
I admire you for all those skills you have, both the indoor and the outside skills.
I had my outdoor man come and clean up weeks in our back yard. I did clean the garage today. We have had a moth problem lately. The newscaster says they come down from the mountains when there is no water up there. They have been swarming for about 2 weeks. The garage was full of mostly dead and some live ones. It is no fun cleaning them up.
weeks=weeds
Jan..my skills come from years of being poor and single.
We had our yearly termite swarm the other night. I was out at the camp. I have to turn off all the lights and go to the bedroom. They can get into the living room.
I have been putting out those Spectracide termite traps. Don't know if they work..but they make me feel better having them. You drill holes in the ground around the house and set these tubes with poisoned wood in them. I'm doing it here and at the camp. Waiting to one day lean on a wall and it fall down.
Kathrine and Mark doing a Rumba to classical music?? She's very beautiful..very graceful very sexy. I just don't think her dances are that difficult or complicated.
But that doesn't matter because everyone loves her...especially the judges.
First, some music shouldn't be danced too...classical....
Katherine's rumba was very stylish,
but the music didn't fit...& Mark
should keep his shirt on...nothing there...
Melissa dance was just odd...the lifts were strange, not graceful, especially when she was upside down...& the music didn't help...
William waltz was elegant...but Ave Maria...in catholic churches that is singed at weddings or funerals(though I have no idea why it is sung at both since they are such different occassions...just heard it last week at my friend's sister's funeral...
not singed, sung...what a dummy...
As far as your efforts at tm...not much love for your Buddy...after all he is a repub. & his views are consistent with repub. philosophy...but you really didn't think there would be, did you?!...the general sentiment there is pretty clear at all times..only dems considered...regardless of how flawed they may be...the obama complaints, whining, etc, notwithstanding, there is but one choice....nothing new...
Excellent choreography and dancing with Derek and Maria.
I missed Donald because I was on the phone with Verizon. Having trouble with my connection.
Dang...the judges finally got one right!~
Carol, if you are interested, at 8:57 pm the International Space Station passes directly over us west to east and should be easily visible, I've seen it over my house before. FYI.........
Coreen..they link all kinds of crap about the O man and then say..but I'm gonna vote for him. That's what I consider pod people thinking.
Maybe that space station is screwing with my reception.
Derek is just the best dancer & choreographer....that was a fantastic routine...
Donald did a great waltz as well...
It's weird how some guy on the phone across the country can tweak my system. That makes me think they can screw with our individual Internet if someone wants to.
Like if we write nasty things about someone in power.
Don't care for Jaleel with slow dances.
Oh & Maria has to have tremendous
trust in that move where she fell forward for Derek to catch her just above the floor...that was truly the best dance so far...
Jaleel did a very nice waltz...
Let's not get too tough on grammar or spelling Coreen..even if you're doing it to yourself. You'll make me uncomfortable. English grammar wasn't my best subject in school.
Take that tin-foil hat off Carol...& better not venture outside to see the space station, they might just zap you with some
laser beams!!...
Little Jackie has grown up a bit. She still have one beautiful voice!
Did you ever hear her before. She was on America's Got Talent. She was amazing.
The weather guy did mention the other night that some things would interfere with antenna TV reception.
I'm not afraid of space things Coreen. Maybe aliens? I really don't want to run into one of them unless their planet has trees and a river.
I really liked the team tango...it was very clever & well danced by all of them...
Hardly fair to have all the best dancers on the first team.
Those men have some fine bodes on team Paso.
Team Paso was really good too...& if they have to take off their shirts, at least these 3 guys were guys guys..
I did like their dance as much as the first.
I think I do see the space station but it's behind all my tall trees.
I saw it, I saw it,.....moving quickly NW by SE...my neighbors saw it , took about 15 seconds for it to cross the night sky...cool, huh?
OMG I loved Derek's and Maria's dance. What a genius Derek is. I was spellbound watching them. I feel sorry for Jaleel and Kim to have to follow that.
I too thought Melissa's dance was strange. The lifts were just plain awkward.
Melissa should be the next to go.
That must have been a planet I saw because it wasn't moving. I was watching the show when it passed over.
Jackie is definitely growing up. Her song was ok but not as spectacular as I remember her on America's got Talent.
There was definitely some differences in the dancing tonight.
I liked Donald and Peta's dance. They were on the Ellen show today. I was home today and taped Ellen.
Did you see what's her name on Ellen..you know Annie Hall. Can't think of her name right now. Senior moment.
She's a strange lady. She seems very insecure.
Diane Keaton. She is like that in all the ad lib interviews I have seen her in.
I loved the dancing tonight. I hate to see anyone go home at this point.
I thought both teams were excellent. I was surprised at the scores for Team Paso. I sure thought they would be higher.
Carol, Diane Keaton has always been a little kooky.
Ellen D. is great. She can handle any situation. She sure loves games. She has a big heart.
Watching Smash and then to bed.
My Verizon is really on the blink tonight. I'm on IPhone. I had to vote on iPhone. ATT is working. Verizon better straighten up.
Jan..I loved those old Woody Allen movies.
I don't get that hat Diane wears all the time. I guess she thinks of it as her trademark. It's OK but she needs to lose it some of the time. Her new movie sounds like something I might like. She is a big dog lover. Can relate there.
She said on Ellen she is a big animal lover. She and Ellen talked about both of them rescuing dogs.
I like Woody Allen movies too - old ones and new ones. Woody ticked me off when he had an affair with this step-daughter. But what can you say - he is a man??? they do stupid things. I think they are still together.
Well, back to work tomorrow.
Wonder who will get the "boot" tomorrow night on DWTS?
I do remember that scandal Jan. I think she was the only one who he actually married and I think they still are. Under those circumstances..maybe she was his true soul mate?? I don't think he ever had adopted her before all that happened?? Did he??
My wireless device for my computer is failing. I'm on the phone trying to get that taken care of. It won't stay on line and has bad reception
I think the mom brought charges against him for statutory rape. their affair began before she was 18. I think the mom caught them together. I did not know they married. Think I will look it up on google.
I was mistaken. Woody never adopted Soon Li and mia farrow brought charges against woody for sexually abusing a 7 year old they adopted. Woody did marry Soon Li. He says he never "fathered" her. They have 2 adopted children. The other children do not have anything to do with him. His only bio son with Mia refuses any relationship with Woody on "moral" grounds. He says that Soon Li is his sister and Woody is his father and that Woody "ruined" the family relationships. None of the other children will have anything to do with him. Woody is a creative genius but probably has some type of personality disorder. He may even be a sociopath.
The judge ruled that the sex abuse charges were inconclusive. Woody did seem to use women sexually.
He is now 74 years old.
It also could have been true love?? Just one possibility. I'm sure a scorned wife and the siblings of the girl would feel hurt and angry.
They have been together for a long time.
I guess everyone can look at what we do and judge it. And he may be a jerk. I don't know.
Quit worrying about govt intrusion on your privacy & shutting you off...Google has a lock...especially with your iphony
Carol...
Goggle Street view spy saga
Question...you know my view on the death penalty & you guys have stated your anti-death penalty stance...so since today is the 1 year anniv of the seals taking out that heinous creature bin laden...
curious what was/is your opinion about that kill order...
& before anyone mentions it, I know that any president would have given that order w/o blinking an eye...so all the dem hype by the chicago mafia don axelrod..questioning whether romney would... is about the lamest
& dumbest attack yet...
Coreen..I do think that any president would have done the same. Can't think of any reason why not.
I'm ambivalent about their not taking him alive. Glad we didn't have the responsibility of incarcerating him and trying him. That would have been a big mess. Did think it strange that he was killed and dumped immediately. But no... I don't have a problem with it.
I do think the US did help to create that monster like we did Hussein. He was our ally at one time when we were fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. Just like Hussein was when we were fighting Iran. We gave him most of those WMDs we were so worried about.
Coreen..I certainly don't have anything to hide from big brother. Hey..I know that you guys think that I put too much of myself out here. What you see or read is what you get. I don't even go to any websites that I would think would be questionable. I already assume that we have no privacy.
As far as those porn sites go..I don't think there should be any privacy there. I can't believe any idiots would think they can get by with what they do there. It's kinda ironic that those sites are often frequented by government employees..on their work time. Just how many stories have we heard on the news about those regulatory agencies who weren't doing their jobs because they were downloading porn. Now the secret service with prostitutes. They all need some old lady/den mother to chaperone their activities. That would nip it in the bud.
You know I don't care for either Obama or Romney. Two side of the same coin. Both have been dishonest. Don't trust either of them. Both are beholding to the almighty buck.
I know you don't care for Roemer. No problem there. Yes..he does have some beliefs consistent with Republicans..what they should believe. He also has some consistent with Dems..and Libertarians. I like him. I would like to hear him in a debate with the other two. I'd get a better idea of him then.
Another guy I like is Berney Sanders but would still need to know more about him. I think there are several better choices than what we currently have.
I used to be impressed with that Chuck Hagel. He was a Republican. Would still need to know more about him. What I've heard him say was always reasonable. He didn't always side with his party. A very good quality. This BS about always siding with one's party is so ridiculous...so grade school..whether it be the politicians or those voting for them.
Coreen..you've spent enough time critiquing all my choices. Who do you like and why?
The Pure DWTS site did a good job in their critique of last night's program. Courtney..said that she..I think it is she..thought that Roshon was the very best dancer in the group dances. Old Len said pretty much the same. She said he was MVP of his team..made no mistakes..that his solo killed it.
She critiqued the other dances also. I pretty much agreed with most of her analysis.
If you're interested..go to:
http://www.puredwts.com/2012/04/30/dwts-14-week-7-power-rankings/#more-22306
I really think it should be Melissa who gets the boot tonight. She is the weakest of all the dancers. If she stays..I think it is because Max is so popular or maybe she has a big fan base with Little House watchers.
Already told you I will consider
Mitt Romney as the election draws
closer...I am totally disenchanted
with Obama the President, he may indeed be 'cool' but he has not
been a leader, a persuader who can
get others to compromise to get something done
that benefits the majority...he sat back & ignored the economic crisis he was greeted with
& instead let the dems. craft an
unworkable health care reform that doesn't address the concerns of most which was & remains the continued escalating costs...& then when it was finished he took credit for what is one of what may be one of the most unpopular & unworkable laws passed ever...
unlike others who fault him, I can not point out his negatives in my eyes & then betray my self & vote for him regardless...
whether I vote for Romney remains a question mark, but I do not find romney to be the devil incarnate & the more that the libs attack his success the less I like them & the more I respect him....he actually did make/earn his $$$$, like it or not...and some businesses that are
not profitable have to be dismantled...that is the harsh reality...
I have told you I resent the class envy being pushed by obama, libs etc...oh yeah ows is running around NYC today...while most people are doing what the do...that would be WORKING!!!!
And I have no beef with Buddy...what I have said to you is he is a rep. much like mitt romney who you don't like as you repeatedly find fault with the repubs...buddy is one of them....he is in no way like a dem or Obama....he is not left of them at all...he subscribes to the basic
rep. free market capitalist economy which is America..with some but not overreaching regulation...I don't think govt can be all things to everyone...&
sooner or later govt has to stop spending no matter how painful that may be...they can not just keep taxing those that produce...which has been the dem mantra forever...
Sen. Bernie Sanders...an honorable man...his actions match his words..
but even more unlikely that he would ever have enough backing...& don't think he has the desire to
run for president....
Likewise Chuck Hagel...an honorable man...likely with no desire to run...he might be able to get backing, but since he retired don't remember him trying to stay in public life...
Just heard that a compound in garlic might counter bacterial toxins in meat. Hmmm. I do love my garlic.
I agree with many of your ideas Coreen..not all. I haven't made any decisions yet.
Just got back from the bank and a visit with my financial adviser. She grilled me first on politics and then on nutrition. Wanted to know what I thought of Ron Paul. Not enough I told her. I said he has some good ideas and some scary ones but I just don't know enough.
Her brother is a Ron Paul delegate. She said he is a prof student with too much time on his hands.
She and her husband voted Obama last time and she voted Hillary in primary. Don't often meet anyone like that round these parts. She closed the doors.
She's also gone veggan. She was overweight for years then had a gastric bypass. Lost a lot of weight..got rid of her diabetes. Now she and her husband decided to go veggan. I told her a little of what I know about being a vegetarian. Gave her some websites for good info. We spent more time with that than any money talk.
After I left the bank I stopped at Market Basket. I saw on their ad on my iphone that they had greens on sale. I got three good messes of turnip greens and some turnips. I was inspired by our veggan talk.
I love greens..just about any kind. Like a little vinegar and some jalopenia peppers on them.
I cleaned them and they're cooking up right now.
You guys ever use the terms mess of greens? It refers to a certain quantity. I guess the quantity depends on who's eating the mess. I can certainly make a mess when I cook.
Occasionally Pa would plant turnip out in his rye grass fields for his cows. I loved it when he did that. I'd get a bunch of bags and go pick a mess of perfect greens and turnips. I felt like a kid in a candy field. I ate so many one time that I was pooping green water. Sorry about that but you can overdo it.
Did y'all hear about that one year old baby who was killed by the family dog on the baby's birthday. I can't understand why anyone would leave a baby anywhere close to any dog..even a chihuahua. Even if it is a loving dog. Heck..I'd be even worried about a big brother or big sister if they are kids.
You just can't trust an animal. They are just animals and a kids can look and sound like prey.
Once..big sister tried to insist that her big dogs come into the house here. She and her husband came in a camper so they had somewhere for the dogs to stay. I told her that Maggie looked like a squirrel and they would likely eat her. BS insisted that wouldn't happen.
I decided to walk Maggie outside..a little distance from them. Two were German Sheppard mix and the other an Australian Sheppard.
When I walked Maggie out of their reach..one of the German Sheppards..a female..broke her chain and had Maggie in her teeth. I went down to try and rescue Maggie..lost my balance and fell on her. I broke a rib and Maggie had some injuries. Thank God I fell. It distracted her dog and she let Maggie go. Maggie really never forgave me for falling on her. She does stay out of my fall reach. She will even step aside when I'm coming down the stairs so if I fall..she's safe.
Did you see this Coreen?
"Arianna Criticizes Obama Over Bin Laden Ad"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-tv/arianna-obama-bin-laden-romney-ad_b_1464156.html
Did see that awful story...& agree
that dogs especially large dogs
should not be left with babies, even a cat can cause serious injuries if spooked...
I have a long time friend who has
3 dogs (2 pit bulls, gordon setter)
they are treated like the family naturally, but have to say I do not
go to her house since when you arrive they all run in to 'greet'
you...well when I first met them
the female pitbull along with the others all raced at me & she jumped up to 'greet' me & her head
hit my nose, raised my head & though she didn't hurt me since she didn't mean to, have to say she startled me...if she had not
liked my scent...who knows, my cats?...she could have grabbed me in an instant...my friend always asks me to stop & I make excuses since she is convinced her 'kids' would not ever hurt anyone...
My mess turned out to be a bigger mess than I thought. They do cook down. Y'all want to come over for dinner? There's plenty.
I'm scared of big dogs Coreen. Unless it would be one like Jan's dog. That dog had kindness in her eyes.
I think I could go vegetarian. I do like my milk in my coffee though. Every time I eat meat lately..I don't like it and Maggie gets to finish it. She already has her home cooked food that has plenty of meat in it. I cooked up a big batch of her food today. I freeze it is smaller portions so it doesn't spend too much time in the frig.
Oh..those greens are gooood.
Well girls..tomorrow is the last day of my vacay. It's back to work Thursday. I thought I might not like starting my vacay on Thursday but then I thought..I will only have two days to work..then a weekend. Since I start another two weeks after three more days..it was a good decision.
I've had one of the best vacays I've ever had and it was just a staycation. I really enjoyed all the work I did. Next vacay will be to work on Pa's stuff. That may not be as much fun.
I did acquire a new appreciation for William last night. His interaction with little Jackie before his dance and his not wanting to take his shirt off.
I can't believe it. Melissa is safe and Jaleel and Roshon are in the bottom two. What a rip. Who are the people voting out there? They certainly can't recognize talent and they must spend a lot of time watching Little House on the Prairie. Melissa's scores were awful last night.
Good thing Pee Wee Herman isn't running for president.
Well..I'm afraid my guy may go tonight.
Dang...it finally went my way tonight. I think it came down to Roshon's performance from last night.
It still isn't fair that Melissa was saved and Jaleel went down tonight.
But it was fair that Roshon finally got some good attention from the judges. I gave him all my votes last night. Not because he was best..even though he was in the team dancing..but because he is good and gets screwed.
Girls..I found this article interesting.
50 Shades of F***ed Up
"What ticks me off about Fifty Shades of Grey is not the book itself but the media's spin on it and the questions it raises and doesn't raise.
At a time when women are coming into their own power, have more economic control over their lives, sometimes earn more than their husbands, for the first time compose more than half the workforce, and have an opportunity to change the domination game by claiming their power, some in the media are using this book to ask questions like, "Are you sure you want control? Isn't it sexy to be out of control?""
The woman who wrote that article has an impressive bio.
We just finished watching DWTS. Although Melissa did not dance as well last night, I did not mind seeing Jaleel leave. I suspect Melissa has a big fan base. I am very happy it was not Roshon. He is a real sweety pie.
Jan..I didn't hear all of this comment on the show tonight but someone in the Pure DWTS website left this comment...
"I’m gonna give Jaleel major props for his praise of Roshon. Love what he said about Len being the old man that won’t give a kid candy and Roshon being that little kid"
Made me respect Jaleel more. He did make a graceful exit.
I've heard several interviews with Diane Keaton but the one she did with Colbert..on Monday night.. was definitely the weirdest. She is a weird bird.
Jan..you need to check it out if you didn't see his Monday night show. It's available on line. Go to Colbertnation.com and find full episodes. I have to watch it on line here at the house. His Monday night show was very good. You can also watch Jon Stewart's Daily Show on line.
It's weird that I learn some really interesting things that are going on when I watch those two shows. Often things that cable news seems to miss. Strange.
I think that I've decided to move back here to the house. I still love my camp and the ambiance out there but really like having a washer/dryer that's easy to use every day and a kitchen with normal cooking appliances and a shower with room to spare. It was a little bit of a challenge living out there. Now I'll have to get the satellite people to move my equipment back here. I will still have to go there every day to take care of my plants and my critters. I will miss seeing that river from my couch. Living out there does incorporate the outdoors into my indoor living space better. I don't have to move from my couch to feel like I'm outside.
Carol, You can still spend nights in your camp at times. You now have a "vacation" home.
Was up early this morn. Had a little allergic attack. I have now had my 3 cups of tea and am ready for my walk. I do my walk in one mile laps. Cannot get to far from the potty after all that tea. The tea does help with the arthuritis however so I can do the walk. Then will get ready for work. I have a couple of tots to observe this morning for speech delay. Have to do it in the morning as they nap in the afternoon.
Yes Jan..I stayed out there Friday and Saturday night last week. That's what I used to do. I'd go on weekend and holidays and then went for Easter 3 years ago and stayed.
I kinda thought that since I didn't have time for a vacation..I'd be on vacation every day after work and on weekends. It was also less cluttered out there. No so anymore. I cluttered that place up too and after clearing things here for roomy..this place was less cluttered. I don't like cluttered but it follows me everywhere I go. It haunts me.
I will still have to go there every day to check things..feed the critters..and water my plants. It still gives me peace to sit and watch the river run. Good thing it's only 1.7 miles away.
Maggie also loves road trips. She's been real spoiled since I've been on vacay. She and I have bonded. She can read me like a book and she hates it when I'm stressed. If I'm on the phone and my voice gets louder..she runs for cover. Even if I'm on my computer writing something that is heated..she will run for cover. She can totally read my mind. Almost better than I can read my own. I can use her for my tension monitor.
I'm waiting for my plumber to show up. He's got several things to fix and I'm putting in a new faucet in the kitchen. It's been dripping.
I went to Lowes to get a new one. They had all these fancy new kitchen faucets. I ended up with this real neat one. I hope it will work. It was pretty expensive. I have a large kitchen..which has been good for someone who used to love to cook. The camp was a real challenge for cooking but as you guys know..I've catered much bigger parties there than I ever did hear at the house. It took most of my rooms there and lots of different cooking appliances to do it.
This little autistic child is on the Today Show. He's a genius on the piano. His talent is almost like it's coming from the sky. He doesn't even seem to be paying attention to what he's doing. Weird. There are so many strange things in life that just don't make any sense.
Now this is pretty impressive....
36 miles of wool, 3 years for the artist to hand crochet....
Giant crocheted lions
for the London Olympics
That was pretty impressive Coreen. I bet she suffered some carpal tunnel syndrome when she finished that project.
Plumber..who was suppose to be here around 8..just got here. I haven't even taken a shower. Thought I'd wait until he was though. He seems to have to run out to his truck a couple of times for every piece he needs. They charge by the hour..85 bucks. I looked on line and that's really not a bad price. They may want to stretch the time out.
Carol, I watched the Colbert show you suggested with Diane Keaton. It was a strange interview. John watched it with me and thinks she was drinking or taking something. She has always been kooky, but this was strange.
Coreen, those crocheted lions are amazing. What a lot of work. Beautiful!
Jan..that's the first time I've seen Colbert have no control of an interview.
boy was Phillip off pitch on Lovin Feeling.
He almost ruined it for Joshus..who did a good job.
Judges didn't mention it but Phillip was definitely off tune in the beginning of the song.
I came in from outside late and missed someone..don't know who. I'll have to check it out on line later.
These are some of my fav songs.
I don't like them screwed with.
Jessica did well and it's hard to do a Tina T song and come off well.
Shut up Randy. She's not Tina Turner dummy.
Curious about what was going on between Joshua and Phillip??
Something going on with Joshua.
I'm having difficulty with those faces Phillip makes. It's almost like he's trying to pass gas.
Lot of people just love him but I don't see any versatility in him.
Yes, Steven did lose control in that show. He actually said, "Do you want to say any f***** thing about your book?" He was obviously feeling his loss of control in this statement. I wonder if she planned to do that to make him lose control.
Dang..Joshua killed that last song.
OMG that was terrible. They murdered one of my favorite songs - You've lost that loving feeling.
In the first round, Joshua either gave or gave up his flower. John asked if he was "deflowered" He is pretty corny sometimes.
The girls did much better on their trio. And they seemed to really like each other.
Skylar is really growing on me. She is such a performer. She could win this.
Well, there is no doubt in my mind that Jessica has the VOICE. the other 2 girls have strong voices but she has the range and purity to her voice that is from Heaven. STill my girl. The only other girl I have heard sing like that on Idol is Katherine McPhee and she is in a major TV show now.
Problem is Jan..it's a popularity contest..like DWTS. And Jessica and Joshua aren't that popular with the teeny boppers. I split my votes between Joshua and Jessica. I think I may have given Joshua a few more. I had to have hit at least 50 votes..they don't tell you and I loose count.
I think Joshua did OK on the Lovin Feeling but Phillip was so off key that he tried to drag Joshua off. I wonder if that was what pissed Joshua off. Something was going on.
Jan..I just listened to Josh and Phil sing Loving Feeling again. Neither sounded very good at first but I think Joshua was better. Then Joshua got much better and Phillip about the same.

I do agree Carol about the popularity contest. I would not be surprised to see either Jessica or Joshua leave b/c the TB's favor the others. However, we did our "entertainment" duty. I too voted for the 2 J's. Am tired and going to bed. Hope you have a good day tomorrow. Do you work 2 days and then on vac'tion again?
Actually Phillip had trouble with his timing at the beginning. Close your eyes and listen.
cute white guys tend to win this contest lately. So Joshua and Jessica don't fit the profile.
I will listen tomorrow. Cannot stay awake. Up at 5 am this morn.
It's hard to compete with the Righteous Brothers. And Phillip and Joshua's voices aren't compatible.
I have to go back to work tomorrow. I'm nervous about it. Pray for me.
To bed and to sleep..I hope. Nite all.
I tried to read the trial info about when Edward's wife learned about his lover. I couldn't even get thru it. I'm not sure that his having a jury is going to help him. I just bet some on that jury have been in his wife's shoes at some point in their lives. I know I have and it's easy to identify with how Ms Edwards must have felt and then to add cancer to the mix..not pretty. I think that maybe Edwards should have taken a deal. Maybe not.
And why did Edwards have to pick such a slut puppy? I can understand a person in a marriage needing to cheat at times. I really can. I realize that sex is a vital need for many and there are reasons that one person in a marriage can't provide that. Do we think that they should dissolve the marriage because of that? I guess that is the one million dollar question. Not looking for your answer here. It's just a ponder.
When you are a public figure..with the media attention that Edward's had..and with all the enemies that politicians have..especially when running for office..it's pretty much a given that it will become public. Too bad the sex organs don't come with some kind of warning alarm.
Questions I have also pondered Carol.
The saddest thing for me is how this is affecting Edward's children.
I have been reading about this too. Unfortunately all of the salacious stuff is interesting!!!
Rielle Hunter sounds like she was going after Edwards to feather her own nest. She probably was trying to get pregnant. I do believe some women are the "hunters" in these situations (no pun intended - just cannot think of another word). Anderson Cooper had a show on the other night about young women who follow prof. athletes
Had to leave the page for a while, my sister called and we had a long talk.
Back to Edwards.... I do believe Rielle was on the prowl for him just like Monica Lewinsky was on the prowl for Clinton. I think there are some women who go after men who are powerful. I had a friend like that in Austin. She was single and a doct student. She went after men who were powerful. Her father was a significant person in her life and she was only attracted to powerful men. She knew how to attract and snare them too.
Well, I need to go for my walk.
Carol, I am looking forward to hearing how work is going for you today.
Well..I made it thru my first day back. Not bad. My relief wasn't there much so I had and will have lots of patients to see to catch up. At least he didn't make any changes in my policies that would undermine what I have achieved over 7 years. I'm very grateful for that.
I agree with you about Hunter Jan.
Jan or Coreen..have anything for a post?
