Donald danced well, but I didn't like the rag on Donald's head, or the bare chest routine...he looked like either a pirate or a slave...take your pic...
Meantime, forgot to mention over at TM you were talking about new people...there is someone going by movingon...My instinct is that he/she is not your usual lib/prog that hangs out at TM...I have noticed the links provided are to well much less than prog/lib links & not articles that are lib friendly...tonight is a perfect example & Craig picked up on it...
will be interesting to see who the in crowd reacts or ignores he/she...
I liked Maria & Derek...but Derek always delivers...I think I like that they are well matched in height....I don't like when the woman is much shorter than the guy...
Ball game over...Yankees win their first of the year!!!....
Howdy, Flub a dub (my fav), Buffalo Bob with Howdy & Flub, Flub with Dilly Dally, Mr. Bluster & then there was Claribelle the Clown...who never spoke accept on the very last show when he said 'goodbye kids'...Bob Keeshan who became Captain Kangaroo was the first Claribelle...and oh, I really don't like clowns...
When I bought my weed wacker..I got a Sear's credit card. I didn't want one but I got a nice discount to do it.
It's a Master Card..didn't know that. It has a 25+% interest rate. I tried to get online to pay my bill and it took three calls for help and then I couldn't get to a place where I could pay with a bank card. I mailed in the money. I also cut that card up into a hundred pieces. No wonder Sears is having problems.
Coreen..how did your Howdy Doody ponder evolve. I bet I didn't get as much TV viewing time as you did.
We never watched TV as kids. We were outside playing. Didn't have any AC back then either. I don't know how we survived it. Our house had a giant attic fan. Kinda remember it sounding like a plane getting ready to take off. It sucked in air from all the open windows. It wasn't too bad.
We were a lot more tolerant then than we are now. It's such a big difference for kids then and now. They are pretty spoiled now.
Jon Stewart was comparing the Easter celebration of Christian and Jews. Saying the Jewish people got ripped when it came to their celebration but really most of the celebration doesn't really have anything to do with religion. It's all pagan stuff and doesn't matter what religion you belong to or if you have a religion at all. It's just another reason to eat..drink..spend money and get fat.
Thought I mentioned that my mother worked at GE so we were one of the few families with a TV...It was like a 7" screen with a glass bubble thing in front to make the picture bigger...
All the kids in the neighborhood came there to watch what I think was the first kid's show....
So I have always had a TV...today there is one in just about every room...For me, TV is like a radio its on, background, even if I don't actually watch it...
Girardi says he is going to rest the guys like Alex & Derek during the season, but no Alex is not just the DH, will play at 3rd as well....
Well..Melissa G tweeted that she had a mild concussion and whiplash. She was whisked off to the hospital last night.
Tomato Woman said she didn't see it. I went to the website and watched it and didn't she her head impact the floor..didn't see any whip or any lash. She might be just tired and worried that she's the next to go.
News said that dental xrays are being linked to brain tumors. I guess I finally found a good thing about avoiding Dentists. I have a Dentist-o-phobia. And with all my cell phone use..I don't need anything else that causes brain tumors.
There were lots of rumor about Ashley Judd have plastic surgery. I didn't think it looked like plastic work. Her face was round. She's come out to say that it was the result of taking cortisone. That's exactly what it looks like.
Haven't seen or heard the first hummer this year. Yesterday I freaked when I remembered that..since I moved here..I hadn't put out my feeders. I went to do it at lunch today. I even put out one here and nada. With all that honeysuckle on my fence..I'd think I'd see some hummers. I hope nothing is wrong. Maybe they sneaked thru in January.
Actually..it would have been best if Melissa went. She must be pretty fragile if she has to be carted off in an ambulance..with oxygen.. after no obvious trauma. I wonder if she'll even be back.
Then poor Sheri could have survived another week. She might have been out last week but the judges did that little save..that y'all didn't notice..that I've never seen done before. I had to go back to re-watch to make sure that it did really happen.
Well..we went from thousands of visitors..visiting the holy post Coreen put up a couple a years ago to just little old me. I'd say that was a big drop. But I can't say that I'm not used to being alone. I am. Just alone with my ponders.
Seems everyone is still waiting. I clicked all over that map..north..south..east and west.. and people are either waiting or saw one or two. Where are they??
News says that oil refineries are going broke so we can expect higher prices. WTF? Who's getting all the money we're spending on our gas??? We're getting scammed by someone.
Hi ya'all. I did not check in last night. I was surprised that Shari was booted off DWTS. I thought she would be wildly popular withe the audience. I frankly am ready for Kaleel to go. I like the young man, Roshon but he apparently have a big enough fan base. I agree, I think that it might be best for Melissa Gilbert to have gone.
Coreen, I remember Howdy Doody. It was one of few children' shows in my day. I seldom watched it though. I actually did not care much for TV, especially daytime TV.
Coreen, have to LOL about your comment about Donald's rag on his head and bare chest. I thought his dancing was good on that routine but did not pay that much attention to his rag and chest. I do like him. I think he is a good guy.
I went out this morning to feed my cats and thought I heard a hummer buzz by. I hung up a feeder so I rounded the pool to see if I saw any activity at the feeder.
Big Red..a wild cat..that's been hanging out here for about 2 years was laying under the feeder. I assumed she might be interested in a hummer.
I got up close and Red didn't move. She's totally wild and doesn't let me get within 50 ft of her. I can even look at her and she runs. She was fat and sassy.
I came back around where I could see her face and her eyes were open. I got closer and saw that she appeared to be breathing.
I got my pool pole and touched her and she only barely moved one paw toward it. I'm thinking oh..shit..what am I going to do.
I saw no signs of trauma. I had to go to work and my secretary's husband in the chief at animal control I called her before I left the house and she told me I had to pack up the cat to take it to them. I don't have anything to pack her in. I was scared to pick her up.
I got to work and she told me that animal control doesn't deal with cats..that are still alive that I'd have to trap the cat. I told her the cat couldn't move.
That agency will come for an alligator..bear.. rabid dog but not a sick kitty???? WTF. I'm planning on writing a letter to the Editor of our paper.
I'm useless with sick animals..useless. I can take care of any human problems but turn into a jellyfish with sick or injured animals..especially a wild animal.
I came home for lunch expecting Red to be dead. She was still breathing and in the same position I left her in. She was in a shady area. I started calling everyone I knew who might be able to help me. Nada.
I'm thinking..why me Lord. I try to take care of all animals. I cripped over here with crutches when I couldn't even make it that far to make sure my kitties were fed. The couple of days I couldn't get here because I was flooded in..I got my neighbor to come feed them.
I tried to call animal control but couldn't even find their number. Looked online and all I got was everything else related to animals.
I tried to call my secretary again..she's at lunch and doesn't answer her cell. By then.. I was a basket case.
I talked with one of my nurses at work and she said she'd come help me. I hated taking her away from work but I was desperate. I needed drugs by this time.
I found a box..leather gloves..sheet. My nurse friend got here and we..together got her gently into the box. She carried her to animal control and I followed. I asked them to please put her down gently.
I would have taken her to my Vet but she's so wild that that wouldn't work.
We did try to look around her to see if there was any clues to what happened to her. No wounds..no blood or secretions anywhere. She was plump and healthy looking. No signs of vomiting or diarrhea. She couldn't move. She was paralyzed.
It's nothing like what's wrong with Fiddler. Fiddler is looking better but she still needs to go to the Vet.
Today I need a good drunk..but that would only make me feel worse. But if I could drink..I'd be snockered already.
Can't for the life of me figure out what lesson I'm suppose to learn from this. Believe me..I was asking the Universe.
Carol, so sorry for your traumatic day...I know you did the best you could to try to help your feral cat big red...
Feral cats are so difficult to help...I know we have tried...most of the time, it does not turn out well...they just will not let you get close to them...
Carol, you have already formed an opinion that Zimmerman is guilty of some crime?!...
I would not have thought you would jump to a conclusion until all the evidence is presented...
have you allowed yourself to fall for the media trial of this person without all the facts surrounding the incident?...
I have no idea what happened other than he killed another man... whether he will be found guilty of any crime remains to be determined...
It has been fascinating to again watch the alignment in this case... the liberal media led by msnbc acting like the villagers with pitchforks in the old frankenstein movie...& appears that dems for the most part have immediately rallied around the premise that absolutely Zimmerman is a murderer...out to get a black kid...
from the claim that their were racial slurs on a tape, that a video showed no injuries, the claimed expert voice analysis, the so-called witness statements...all of which are so far inconclusive, but it did not stop the media saturation of these points as facts....
Wouldn't it be prudent to wait til the evidence is presented to form an opinion...
And you can't listen to the media. They always get it wrong.
I would like to hear the evidence and in Florida they have the Sunshine law or something like that. All the evidence will be available to the public. I like that.
I both love and hate the law but I do find it fascinating. Next life..I'll be an attorney. Not sure whether prosecutor or defense. I'd prefer to switch hit.
Maybe the devil's advocate, but more an observer of the vast divide between people that I find fascinating...
Also an effort to provide some balance rather than polarization which is more & more pronounced...TM is a perfect example more & more...
Whatever one side, be it conservative or liberal, takes a position on, the other side instantly responds with the opposite...
The right/left red/blue divide just keeps getting wider & deeper...I see little hope for any comprosmise...& without that nothing constructive gets done...
And your comment was 'now let's see if Floridians can find anyone guilty of anything'...
but no fear, no intention of hitting you with any shot...just want you to analyze all the evidence & then make a decision...
There's a little thunder storm cloud headed this way. Maggie heard a little rumble..she jumped on the back of one of the couches to look out the window. She looked at me with this.."oh sh--" look on her face and headed under the back of the other couch. Her funny.
You remind me so much of my family..back in the good old days. We all choose sides and went at it. If we started to agree we regrouped and went at it again.
I bet you were my sister in a past life or maybe some other relative. No accident that we found each other.
Let's see I worked in the state attorneys office while in law school...they were more rigid & by the book...
I also was friends with several public defenders (they have an awful job...huge caseloads, with def. who are more often then not guilty, little time for prep or discovery) they were much more laid back, accepting of personal foibles....& the one I was close too (he died of a heart attack) thought I was a repub. at heart!!!...
I'm probably as much conservative as I am liberal. If you don't remember..Obama wasn't exactly my choice.
I like one of the Romney's but I'm not sure which one would show up if he became president. The Obama that I felt obligated to vote for certainly didn't show up..did he?
If I would have had to try Casey Anthony..I would never have gone after murder one. I would have gone after 2nd or a lessor charge. That was their biggest mistake.
Barely had time to catch my guy Joshua Ledet on Idol before I had to flip over to Modern Family. One thing I love about him is that he's still humble. I hope he stays that way. He does come from a great part of the country.
Can't stand that commercial for Jack in the Box where the guy wants to marry bacon. If we start letting people marry a meat..the next thing you know is they will want to marry a fruit...
Carol, I feel so badly for the terrible day you had with Red. You are such a good friend to animals. It is hard to know what could have happened to Red. But you did everything you could, and more than anyone else I know. It may be a while but you will one day figure out what the universe was trying to tell you.
By the way do you remember the little kitten that came out of the wall in the apartment we lived in. We were fortunate that a vet lived next door. We tried to keep the cat. We named it Gato. It kept attacking Steve.
The talent was great on Idol tonight. I really liked the last girl's song. She did very well tonight. My favorites are Jessica and Joshua. I hope one of them wins.
Coreen, I did not think I was nervous about the audit with the feds. But apparently it was having an effect on me as today I was totally wiped out. I worked several hours today but crashed tonight.
I did finish the book a couple of nights ago. After getting into it, I found it hard to put it down. I am going to read the next 2 books. I think we will see the movie this weekend.
Have you heard about the premature baby born in Argentina. that was declared dead. The mother wanted to take a picture with the baby. She had been in a coffin in a refrigerator for 12 hours. they had to open the coffin with a crowbar. The mother touched the baby's hand and she cried. They renamed her Luz Milagros which means light and miracle. I hope she survives. She is so small she still might not make it but you go little Luz Milagros. I am rootin for you.
Remember that Fiddler was a..I don't want to fail another test..cat. I ran and got food for her right after I avoided giving the one legged prostitute the ride that day.
I might be afraid to deal with animal medical emergencies when I can easily deal with human medical emergencies but I often prefer the company of animals to the company of people.
Coreen..your friend who died of the heart attack ain't the only one who thinks your a closet Republican. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come up with that thought. But I love you anyway.
Jan..I didn't hear about the little miracle baby. I also hope she makes it. If not..she did get to say hi and bye. It's crazy that they can make that kind of mistake but maybe it WAS just a miracle. I believe in them.
Coreen..I've had a feeling that maybe Zimmerman has a few loose screws. I think he was all into this neighborhood watch thing..stalking a perceived perp..in a hoody.. and it got out of hand. I kinda have the feeling that he truly believes he was in the right. He might ought to consider a mental defense but we'll see. That's just a feeling..OK.
And who do we suspect will come to his defense.. team...Jose Bias? Garagos? Got any other ideas? Even though I like watching these trials..they have gotten to be complete media circuses. I don't like that at all. Cut the crap and just show us the facts people. I don't like that reality TV format.
And who do you think I blame for all this kind of stuff?? I blame the crazy gun people. The ones who want people to wear guns on their belts. I heard some blurb about some new gun laws headed my way.. where people can have guns anywhere..college..church. These people are effing nuts.
Theses are the same people who call themselves "right to life" people. They are mainly... right to snuff it out.. people. There are not too many ways these people respect any life..not human..animal or planet. Think about it.
The only place they pretend to respect life is in the area of abortion. I think that's just a red herring. A way to manipulate the religious right into thinking that they really care. Doesn't fool me one bit.
And the ones who are pushing all this..everyone should have a gun..laws are often in the 1%. They had better think this out. That "one" percent is a very small number. They don't think ahead.
They had better consider that in the other 99% there are a bunch of very angry and unstable people. Many have been trained to use guns and other ammo. And they are good at warring. And they're coming home with lots of time on their hands and no jobs to keep them out of trouble. That one percent had better start building stronger gated communities. Their karma is just around the corner! Mark my words people. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
People are often sooo naive. My job kinda keeps me from getting/being there. I see what's ahead. I see some scary new trends. I see some interesting new people joining the ranks of the "criminals".
I see people who I think should be in college. They used to be.. but they found faster..what they think are easier.. ways to make money. Why bust your ass trying to find one of the few jobs that are available when they take money from YOU!.
And ponder this..these books and movies like the "Hunger Games" may not be just entertainment.. it may be what we might expect for the future. Maybe we should all be paying attention to the story.
Jan, I have not read hunger games...as with the girl who books the graphic, explicit violence was not my idea of entertainment, so it diminishes my opinion of a book, so I have held off getting the hunger games, at this point, likely not to bother...which is why I read books or watch movies...
I don't mind the 'bad guy dying' or getting revenge on them, but I don't need to see/read the gruesome details to get the point...
I do love action movies with a heavy body count....but don't like slasher type movies with all the gore/blood...
Carol, not likely a closet anything...just a realist, pragmatist...remember 'don't tread on me'....
I tend to observe both words/actions...& often those that one would think should be looking out for your interests turns out to be a fraud...case in point the current dem. party & this administration...by the way, remember JFK would likely not be welcome in today's dem. party...
Carol, if you think a 'revolution' is imminent...ows & all that...think again...as long as they have their iphones, ipads & starbucks...not a chance....lots of complaining but no real action...that would take actually 'work'....
I don't know Coreen..camping out at those "occupy" places didn't look too comfortable and they were also willing to line up for pepper spray to the face.
And Jan.. I might want to see the Hunger Games. Might be something I need to know. What you think? Don't have time read books. I'm up to my ass in jobs right now.
I called my boss's cell phone yesterday to ask the progress on my vac request. Nada. I sent a text message today saying that I needed that vac starting April 18..this year! If nada again..I'll just leave a message..ON VACATION..DON'T CALL OR DISTURB.
Jan..tell us a little about the story. Aren't there people killing one another for sport? And if so..did that bother anyone?
In my old age I do have trouble watching anything violent. If a bad guy gets it..I can take it but even then I have to tell myself it's just a movie. It's just a movie.
If it's a suspense movie..I like lots of suspense and little gore..or no gore.
Young people and many old alike..have been desensitized by those violent video games. I think it even can screw up their ability to differentiate between fantasy and reality.
I knew his ER doc. He loved those video games. One night..maybe more.. he had his gun at work and was out..at break..shooting out street lights and at signs. He was canned. Now works for corrections. I think he may have had a mental health history.
Jan, just how graphic is the violence in the book...I can not understand how this was primarily a tween/teen/young adult whatever they are categorized as...market...
And what about the book made you not want to put it down...is it an easy, quick read...I am tempted since I like scifi/ vampire/witch/werewolf stories....
Oh, almost forgot again...have you heard about the book that is being called 'mommy porn' erotic, heating up bedrooms....50 Shades of Grey...read about it a couple of weeks ago in NYT & forgot to ask...I have not read these either...
there are 2 other books in the trilogy...50 Shades Darker & 50 Shades Freed...I think the author is a woman E.I. James 50 Shades of Gray Why Mommy Porn is Hot
Since I have no medical background any thoughts from you two on these products being pushed by Dr.Oz this p.m.
I already take a slew of vitamins/supplemnts...
AlgaeCal for bone strengh
Hawthorne Extract for heart health
Vinpocetine for brain function anti-alzheimer protection
sesame seeds sprinkled on cereal and/or salads, (
I missed what the benefits were though as I only saw the last bit of the show...I don't watch Dr. Oz but I know lots of people think he is just a wealth of good info-my aunt & my cousin both think he is a wealth of good info)
Boy did Hillary Rosen put her foot in her mouth by saying that Ann Romney didn't work a single day in her life. Hush your mouth sister.
There is no harder job than raising kids! I'd find it soooo much easier to go to work... at any job.. than have to chase after and raise 7 kids. Why can't these people think before they speak.
What Hillary Rosen said is the perfect example of how vicious women are against their own species. It's exactly what I was talking about. Is she a man in drag???
Was just going to mention the Hillary Rosen foot in mouth comment...
You would think that all these high powered talking heads would use their head before they spout off....& she was a PR consultant...
I suppose her intent was to take a shot at Ann Romney because she did not have to earn a living, while working as a full time mom, that is, she's rich so it can't be so tough...all part of the class warfare that the dems are using to divide & conquer...
So does it shift the idea that only dems. help women & the repubs. wage war against women...who knows...
Coreen.. I believe you need to be careful with supplements. There's new research that vitamins in supplements can have the opposite effect as the vitamins in foods..ie the beta carotines. Best to eat foods high in the same vitamins if you can.
Also no real good quality control with supplements. No significant laws govern supplements. May not even contain what they say they do.
I feel pretty comfortable with vit C supplements. That vitamin is so easily destroyed by heat..light and time of the shelf of the foods that are high in that vitamin.
Now some of these weird food products..I don't know. I do watch Oz every now and again.
No not a man in drag but I believe an openly gay single mom raising 2 kids after separating from her partner...pure politics...she wanted to demonize Ann Romney because of the Romney's wealth....class warfare on display for all to see....
People think that if a physician says it..it's gospel. Let me tell you that most physicians know about as much about nutrition as the regular person on the street.
They aren't real brilliant about pharmaceuticals either. Most of their education comes from the pharmeceutical reps. Really!
Dr. Oz just reads and talks to experts. Listen with a discriminating ear.
I too think Hilary Rosen put her foot in her mouth. I work with women who are working and taking care of their children. The most difficult job in the world is being a mother in this culture, but women who work and are mothers have the toughest job.
The story in the Hunger Games is an interesting one. It is a sci fi - futuristic plot. They are not killing for sport. They are killing to survive. It is a situation of "kill or be killed."
I too refrained from reading the book until my family members were reading it and - just like watching and keeping up with football- I wold have not read it otherwise, but I like to join in the conversations when we get together = I like to keep up.
I watch some of Oz. I agree with Carol, I think it is better to eat a well balanced diet than to take supplements. Some new research shows that taking supplements over the long term is associated with higher risks of long term problems.
Coreen, I just read a book by Ann Patchett, State of Wonder. Very interesting. Well Written. I highly recommend it. I am going to read some other books she has written. I find an author I like and tend to read other books they have writtten.
Carol, I think you would like this book too. It is about a woman who works for a drug company. won't say more than that.
I had 3 boys - and after having granddaughters, I will honestly say that, I think boys are easier- once they get past 3-4 years old. They are more straight-forward, don't play psychological games.
Carol, you are so right, any number of kids is a lot of work. I have families I follow who have "special needs" kids. Talk about a lot of work. I don't know how some of these women do it.
Boy, this whole think about what Hilary Rosen said is BIG news tonight. It is everywhere.
One needs to be very careful about what we say about women and their kids and how much work it is to be a mommy. I would not want to be Hilary Rosen right now.
Carol, Your telling earlier about how you and your family had discussions/disagreements about issues gave me a lot of insight into our relationship. In my family, the children were not allowed to express an opinion as a child or a teenager. I reared my children differently. It has been difficult for me to express a different opinion in a group. I do it, but at a cost to me. I do believe our early experiences as children, in our families, have an enormous influence on our behavior as adults.
I do not consider myself the least big "fragile" but when I am on the other side of an argument and I have strong feelings about something, I find it is better for me to just keep my mouth shut or in the case of this blog or FB to not share how I feel. I become too emotional and do not want to say anything that will harm a relationship. I saw that happen with 2 friends recently on facebook. It is a shame, because politics will change with the wind, and I value friendships more than that.
Carol, I don't agree. Maybe it is important for you to expess an opinion about a poiitical issue or something going on in the world. It just simply does not mean that much to me. I got over-emotional in the discussion about Casey Anthony and have vowed to myself to not get that emotional again over something that I have no control over. We have a difference of opinion about that issue and I realize that I will not change your mind and I will not be able to change your mind - so why discuss something that is not something that we either one have control over.
Actually my buttons are pretty obvious. People I've worked with over the years pushed them all the time..just to watch me react. I even had salesmen..who knew me..do it.
I finally caught on when someone said something that would normally make me react and a big smile came across their face when I started my tirade. I thought..what a dummy am I.
I am perfectly fine with you and Coreen having differences of opinion. Does not bother me a bit. I like your discussions but most of time I don't have an opinion one way or other.
I did have a strong emotional reaction to the issue of Casey Anthony and realize I should have just opted out.
That's OK also Jan. You are a peacemaker. We need peacemakers.
I do often love the battles. I do try to be more careful with you but if you do express something where I have a different opinion..I'll let it be known.
Anytime anyone expresses an opinion..there's sort of an invitation for an opposing opinion..IMO.
And they are just little old opinions..not life or death. No big deal. Like AHs everyone had one and no body thinks there's stinks. I like that saying.
Of course..knowing anatomy and physiology like I do...I'm sure mine does stink.
My pool kid came by the other day..did half of what he was suppose to do. He couldn't put more salt in because he couldn't find the tool he needed. That tool is actually my tool..that came with my expensive pool cover.
My pool is doing something screwy but I can't look under the cover because the kid has my tool that he can't find..that I need. Did you follow that?
Dang..you can't get good help. I want my tool back and I might just have to learn to take care of this dang salt system myself. I'm the only one who I can depend on...some of the time.
I did text my boss telling him that I was going to start my vacation on April 19. He finally texted me back that he could only give me two weeks. That's generous after 7 years without a break.
Carol you have strong opinions that you voice & many times I simply don't find those opinions mine...
Has nothing to do with pushing anyone's button...not my style...simply pointing out there are other equally valid opinions is not pushing your buttons...
I found your Zimmerman conclusions to be based on the media spin, which as I said is totally inconclusive...
And.. of course Coreen...I don't agree. I don't base my opinions of media spin. I dig for as many facts as I can find from as many sources. I don't trust the media.
With Casey..I read every bit of evidence that the State of Florida had online..much of it more than once. I found it all very fascinating. I wasn't listening to all those idiots on TV.
You guys are as married to your opinions as I am. And you do have them.
If you want me to be specific again...I have nothing to say about the Anthony verdict...the state didn't prove their case, end of story...
As far as the Zimmerman situation, I was responding to you saying maybe this time a Florida jury will find someone guilty of something...which at the present time is not a statement that is realistic, since the only reports are what the media has been pushing for several weeks....that is why I pointed out specific things said & so far have been found not credible, one such being the wild claim that Zimmerman said coon when the tapes now apparently reveal it was punk...& the so-called no injury video that when enhanced again may show an injury...my point is that what you have said to date is based on media spin...since there is no credible evidence for anyone to study at this point...
Yes..there is no evidence to study yet re: Zimmerman. I couldn't make anything out on those 911 calls.
And I agree that the State didn't prove their case re: Anthony as was shown by the jury decison. They also didn't present all the evidence. They had to make a decision on what to present and what not to present. They did what they thought was best and they lost.
That prosecutor probably did make some good money on the case..with his book and interviews. Now he can enjoy his retirement. Don't think Casey will enjoy hers.
And I don't see much of the news anymore..haven't in quite a while. No opinion shows either..which is what most of those cable news shows are. I only have 30 minutes of NBC news and usually I'm too busy then.
I wasn't even watching it when I did have the news channels at the camp. My sis was there. She was only interested in movies.
OK Carol, where are you? I wonder how the other contestants thought about the judges dismissing most of the usual routines in this show. I too believe Jessica is excellent - but it was sort of a "sorry, but you don't measure up to this girl" A sort of why go on with this show. I am concerned and disappointed in the judges. I don't think Simon Cowell would have done that or allowed it.
I was running in and out of the house to put water in my pool. And washing dishes. I missed some of Idol. I'm uncomfortable with these elimination shows. It's weird what makes each of uncomfortable. They are all so good that it's sad to see one have to leave..and I feel their pain.
I was glad they saved that girl. Yes..each week one will have to leave. I feel that they will all have a career..if they want one.
I went to Wiki and read what they wrote about the Hunger Games. It's not something I could read or watch but I know what you mean about something being written so well that you keep reading or watching.
I found the same thing with the foreign version of the Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. I would have never watched that movie if I had read what it was about. I started it and was compelled to keep watching it. It was brutal.
Today was a wild day. Work was OK but very busy and then every minute that I wasn't dealing with that..I was on the phone or texting someone re: Pa's estate business. I was even busy while I ate.
If I wasn't doing something else..I was typing on here. It's almost like I just can't take time to relax and just settle down. I may be afraid if I take the time to crash..I may not come up again.
There are two owls chatting away outside and they're close. It's not the same kind of owls I have at the camp. They have a different accent.
My owls did not return to the big Cypress tree again this year. I guess there is too much activity there now. This is the second year that they weren't there. I do hear them but at a distance.
My neighbor on the north side of me took down their last tree yesterday. I don't understand it. It was a huge old oak tree. It wasn't doing any harm. Just a home for critters. They're seldom at their camp but they have to get rid of what other critters use for a home. Does color my opinion of those people.
My yard is full of trees..that is.. what Rita left me. I'm not going to get rid of any of them. If they fall on the camp..so be it. I have insurance. Those critters don't.
And I saw my first hummer today. I went to the camp to check it.. the hummer feeder and put out bird seed.
I was watering the few plants I have left and when I shot water up to a chive plant..I ran off a male Ruby throated hummer from the feeder hanging close by. The first hummer I've seen. I said I was sorry. He came back.

Since its clown night at DWTS, can you tell me who these 'people' are...
My friend Pete (in my car pics)gets
these old tv videos & keeps reminding us how old we are....
Donald danced well, but I didn't like the rag on Donald's head, or the bare chest
routine...he looked like either a pirate or a slave...take your pic...
Well I missed Gladys totally...what did they dance & what was the music....
Gladys had Bohemian rhapsody. Not a good dance song.
Cute post Coreen. That takes me back.
Not having a pause on this TV is tough.
The kid ain't too shabby.
I caught that little stumble but he was great.
But do you know who the characters are...
Meantime, forgot to mention over at TM you were talking about new people...there is someone going by
movingon...My instinct is that he/she is not your usual lib/prog
that hangs out at TM...I have noticed the links provided are to
well much less than prog/lib links & not articles that are lib friendly...tonight is a perfect example & Craig picked up on it...
will be interesting to see who the
in crowd reacts or ignores he/she...
So far..it's between him and the lean black machine.
Highest scores of the night.
didn't William?do a very similar
dance last week...
again he did ok, no big shakes for me...& there seemed to be some bobbles as well...
Oh..I sympathize with broken feet. And they say stress fractures are hard to heal.
And high heels...yuk.
I do best with no shoes now except that it's dangerous.
That song was a little easier to dance to.
I liked Maria & Derek...but Derek
always delivers...I think I like that they are well matched in height....I don't like when the woman is much shorter than the guy...
Broken feet gets the top scores.
Haven't seen TM tonight. Well check it out later. I'm going as fast as I can just to keep up with this and doing some things around the house.
You must feel safe with the Yank's game tonight. Haven't mentioned them.
Paint it Black..I was 16 when that came out. Kinda missed most of the dance.
Gavin did an ok whatever...but again hate the hat...
missed the young disney kid...was wondering why there seemed to be a disney kid every season, then it came to me...disney owns abc...what a dummy....
the game is not over yet...
Phew..I need a rest after that show.
I just don't feel any passion for voting this year. I'll just go with whoever others like.
Coreen..I recognize the faces but not the names in your Howdy Doody post. I've never been good with names.
Tell me.
The kid was good.
Well..you got your first win!
I guess y'all didn't really need the Swamp potion tonight.
Ball game over...Yankees win their
first of the year!!!....
Howdy, Flub a dub (my fav), Buffalo Bob with Howdy & Flub,
Flub with Dilly Dally, Mr. Bluster
& then there was Claribelle the Clown...who never spoke accept on the very last show when he said
'goodbye kids'...Bob Keeshan who
became Captain Kangaroo was the first Claribelle...and oh, I really don't like clowns...
I do like Craftsman products though.
Boy these credit cards are a racket..to keep people imprisoned in their debt.
Banks are paying like 1/10 of 1 percent interest on savings. And those credit cards are charging that kind of interest??
They try to push ya into putting your money into some risky investment so they can steal it all playing Russian roulette with it.
How does Baltimore rank?
Is A-Rod going to be the DH hitter this season?
Thought I mentioned that my mother
worked at GE so we were one of the
few families with a TV...It was
like a 7" screen with a glass bubble thing in front to make the
picture bigger...
All the kids in the neighborhood came there to watch what I think was the first kid's show....
So I have always had a TV...today there is one in just about every room...For me, TV is like a radio
its on, background, even if I don't actually watch it...
Girardi says he is going to rest
the guys like Alex & Derek during the season, but no Alex is not just the DH, will play at 3rd as well....
Yes Coreen... you did tell us that.
I also keep the TV on for company.
First half of the day was good..hope the second half is the same.
Also Zimmerman has flown the coup. TM also said that he ought to find Casey Anthony and link up. They can be the most hated couple in the world.
I saw on Pure dancing that Tom tweeted that we would be surprised who got the boot tonight
Phew Coreen... I was worrying about your boys tonight.
I thought that Melissa would have been a good one to go tonight. She needs the rest. But she's safe.
The suspense builds.
Out of those left..who are all pretty good..I would not feel bad to see William go. Hope it's not Katherine or Donald.
So the best male dancer..according to Len.. is in the bottom two.
I think it's going to be Roshon. He doesn't deserve it.
Well..that was a better result than the other way.
Well..I guess I better start voting because it seems that little Roshon will need my vote. He is a good dancer but it seems he's not popular.
It's sad because Sheri was probably the happiest to be there. And this will hurt her more than any of them. Sorry Sheri.
Coreen..your Yanks need to get on the stick and put that game to bed.
Did you hear..that Sean Peyton is definitely out and still no coach for the Saints . They might have to get someone off their armchair to do it.
Ball game over...Yankees win...good night!....
Well..we went from thousands of visitors..visiting the holy post Coreen put up a couple a years ago to just little old me. I'd say that was a big drop. But I can't say that I'm not used to being alone. I am. Just alone with my ponders.
You know I've been worried about the hummingbirds this year. I figured they would have started their migration early because of the warmer weather.
There is this interactive map..
http://www.learner.org/jnorth/maps/humm_ruby_spring2012.html
This has been a rough week at work. The feds are here to audit the program. I had my interview yesterday and it went well.
Idol is on tonight. I like DWTS but Idol is my fav.
Awful..awful..awful day!
I have no poisons around my yard!
Carol, so sorry for your traumatic
day...I know you did the best you could to try to help your feral cat
big red...
Feral cats are so difficult to help...I know we have tried...most
of the time, it does not turn out
well...they just will not let you
get close to them...
Jan, sounds like you have been very concerned about the evaluation and happy to hear it went well...
Did you finish reading hunger games..& did you get to see the movie yet...you do know there are 2more books & likely movies to come as well..
I was hoping that now that I'm living here I could tame Big Red. I'd watch her and Fiddler licking each other. They were close friends.
Jan..I'm gonna watch Idol but skip over to watch Modern Family. Need a laugh today. I can catch what I miss later online.
And what do you think about Alicia Silverstone chewing her 11 month old child's food and spitting it into his mouth? Gag.
I think she musta been a bird in her last life.
See Zimmerman was finally charged. Now let's see if Floridians can find anyone guilty of anything.
News was full of interesting things today.
Carol, you have already formed an
opinion that Zimmerman is guilty of
some crime?!...
I would not have thought you would
jump to a conclusion until all the evidence is presented...
have you allowed yourself to fall for the media trial of this person without all the facts surrounding the incident?...
I have no idea what happened other than he killed another man... whether he will be found guilty of any crime remains
to be determined...
Wouldn't it be prudent to wait til
the evidence is presented to form
an opinion...
I don't know if he's guilty yet Coreen. He just needs to be charged and tried. I'll wait to hear the evidence.
I think he should have been arrested from the get go. There's still a lot of evidence to be heard. I haven't found him guilty yet.
Did I say he was guilty?
You love to play the devil's advocate.
And you can't listen to the media. They always get it wrong.
I would like to hear the evidence and in Florida they have the Sunshine law or something like that. All the evidence will be available to the public. I like that.
I'll let you know when all the evidence is in what my verdict is.
I've have come up with my verdict for the Idol singers...they are all great.
Hit me with your best shot..little C.
The right/left red/blue divide just keeps getting wider & deeper...I see little hope for
any comprosmise...& without that
nothing constructive gets done...
I also was friends with several
public defenders (they have an awful job...huge caseloads, with
def. who are more often then not
guilty, little time for prep or discovery) they were much more laid back, accepting of personal foibles....& the one I was close too (he died of a heart attack) thought I was a repub. at heart!!!...
I'm probably as much conservative as I am liberal. If you don't remember..Obama wasn't exactly my choice.
I like one of the Romney's but I'm not sure which one would show up if he became president. The Obama that I felt obligated to vote for certainly didn't show up..did he?
I couldn't defend someone who I knew was guilty. Couldn't do it.
As a prosecutor would I have to try someone who I felt sure was innocent? If not..I'd probably have to choose to be a prosecutor.
Hope you recorded Modern Family. Make sure to empty your bladder before watching. It's a prerequisite.
Have you read the book?
Have you heard about the premature baby born in Argentina. that was declared dead. The mother wanted to take a picture with the baby. She had been in a coffin in a refrigerator for 12 hours. they had to open the coffin with a crowbar. The mother touched the baby's hand and she cried. They renamed her Luz Milagros which means light and miracle. I hope she survives. She is so small she still might not make it but you go little Luz Milagros. I am rootin for you.
I'll work on figuring out what the Universe is trying to tell me Jan.
I saw another cat in the yard this evening. I'm pretty sure it's a neighbor's cat but I yelled that there was an opening over here.
And I ain't taking in another stray human.
Jan, I have not read hunger games...as with the girl who books
the graphic, explicit violence was not my idea of entertainment, so it diminishes my opinion of a book, so I have held off getting the hunger games, at this point, likely not to bother...which is why I read books or watch movies...
I don't mind the 'bad guy dying' or getting revenge on them, but I don't need to see/read the gruesome
details to get the point...
I do love action movies with a heavy body count....but don't like
slasher type movies with all the gore/blood...
Carol, not likely a closet anything...just a realist, pragmatist...remember 'don't tread
on me'....
I tend to observe both words/actions...& often those
that one would think should be looking out for your interests turns out to be
a fraud...case in point the current dem. party & this administration...by the way, remember JFK would likely not be welcome in today's dem. party...
Carol, if you think a 'revolution' is imminent...ows & all that...think again...as long
as they have their iphones, ipads & starbucks...not a chance....lots of complaining but no real action...that would take actually 'work'....
I don't know Coreen..camping out at those "occupy" places didn't look too comfortable and they were also willing to line up for pepper spray to the face.
May want to start re-pondering that.
And I won't professionally cover anything done during my absence.
Carol, we are going to see "The Hunger Games" movie this weekend. All my family likes it from age 14-53. So I have to see it.
did it again. I have an impatient index finger.
Video games...did you forget the
nightly news....remember 'if it bleeds, it leads'...
Jan, just how graphic is the violence in the book...I can not
understand how this was primarily
a tween/teen/young adult whatever
they are categorized as...market...
And what about the book made you not want to put it down...is it an
easy, quick read...I am tempted since I like scifi/ vampire/witch/werewolf stories....
James
50 Shades of Gray Why Mommy Porn is Hot
Since I have no medical background
any thoughts from you two on these
products being pushed by Dr.Oz this p.m.
I already take a slew of vitamins/supplemnts...
AlgaeCal for bone strengh
Hawthorne Extract for heart health
Vinpocetine for brain function anti-alzheimer protection
sesame seeds sprinkled on cereal
and/or salads, (
I missed what the
benefits were though as I only saw the last bit of the show...I don't watch Dr.
I think you do have to be discriminating with Dr. Oz. Just check out with other sources.
Dr Weil is a good source.
http://www.drweil.com/
What Hillary Rosen said is the perfect example of how vicious women are against their own species. It's exactly what I was talking about. Is she a man in drag???
Was just going to mention the Hillary Rosen foot in mouth comment...
You would think that all these
high powered talking heads would
use their head before they spout off....& she was a PR consultant...
No not a man in drag but I believe an openly gay single mom raising 2 kids after separating from her partner...pure politics...she wanted to demonize Ann Romney because of the Romney's wealth....class warfare
on display for all to see....
I too heard what H. Rosen said when she first said it, and thought OMG, she is going to have to eat her words.
I like what Obama just said on TV which was that the media people should stay away from the wives of the candidates because they have a tough job.
As for the supplements, you have not heard of any of those and
their effectiveness or not?...
The writer of the book is a good writer. She kept my attention. Sometimes, if a book is not written in a style I like, I stop reading it.
I watch some of Oz. I agree with Carol, I think it is better to eat a well balanced diet than to take supplements. Some new research shows that taking supplements over the long term is associated with higher risks of long term problems.
I too just heard about the "mommy porn" porn books. Have not read any of them.
Sorry..Ann only had 5 kids..boys..still tons of work!
Carol, can't believe you said that Ann Romney "only" had 5 kids. That is a bunch of kids. I had 3 and that was plenty for me.
I had 3 boys - and after having granddaughters, I will honestly say that, I think boys are easier- once they get past 3-4 years old. They are more straight-forward, don't play psychological games.
Well Jan..I first said she had 7. I was just correcting that statement. I still said that was tons of work. One is tons of work.
Y'all need to read what I say before jumping my ass.
Coreen, My doc - who is a university faculty in the med school says the only supplement that he believes to be effective -based on research- is Vit D.
Carol, sorry, I did not see your first comment about Ann Romney's number of kids.
I think it may have been Santorium's wife that had 7. I got confused.
Carol, you are so right, any number of kids is a lot of work. I have families I follow who have "special needs" kids. Talk about a lot of work. I don't know how some of these women do it.
and Santorum has a special needs kid that he "used" in a some of his advertisements.
Carol, I did not mean to "jump your ass" As you have said before, we are all just expressing an opinion on here.
Boy, this whole think about what Hilary Rosen said is BIG news tonight. It is everywhere.
One needs to be very careful about what we say about women and their kids and how much work it is to be a mommy. I would not want to be Hilary Rosen right now.
But I do agree with you Jan. Raising kids is the hardest job any woman can have. It's like having a job 24/7...
Don't know which is bigger news - Zimmerman or Hilary Rosen's remarks.
I do remember that you had three and did a dang good job with them.
I think that Hillary's boo boo is bigger news.
And she's a classic example of what I find so horrible about some women.
They eat their own.
And I never mind anyone jumping on me. Like I told Coreen..hit me with your best shot.
I just want it done for something you don't agree with me on not something we are agreeing on.
This is why I seldom get into disagreements about politics or anything else here.
Carol, I don't understand what you are saying in your last statement.
Jan..it's time for you to finally get over that. You can practice it here. You are among friends.
When you hold in certain hostilities..they can grow out of control. At least I find that to be the case with me.
I will hold in something and when it finally blows..it way overblown.
I was referring to the discussion that Coreen and I were having last night. She loves to push my buttons. She pretends not to.. but I'm on to her.
Well, you can be sure I did not play that game with you.
You obviously know Coreen better than I do.
Who's getting the boot tonight? I don't have a clue. I respect your opinion on this show.
And they are just little old opinions..not life or death. No big deal. Like AHs everyone had one and no body thinks there's stinks. I like that saying.
Of course..knowing anatomy and physiology like I do...I'm sure mine does stink.
And I like debate..it's like mental aerobics.
I'm just guessing about Coreen. I'm pretty sure she'll disagree. LOL
I texted back..that's a good start.
Guys I do not play games...
Carol you have strong opinions that you voice & many times I simply don't find those opinions mine...
Has nothing to do with pushing anyone's button...not my style...simply pointing out there are other equally valid opinions
is not pushing your buttons...
I found your Zimmerman conclusions
to be based on the media spin, which as I said is totally inconclusive...
I said.."no calls at home"
And.. of course Coreen...I don't agree.
As far as the Zimmerman situation,
I was responding to you saying
maybe this time a Florida jury will find someone guilty of something...which at the present
time is not a statement that is realistic, since the only reports are what the media has been pushing for several weeks....that is why I pointed out specific things said & so far have been found not credible, one such
being the wild claim that Zimmerman
said coon when the tapes now
apparently reveal it was punk...& the so-called no injury video that
when enhanced again may show an injury...my point is that what
you have said to date is based on
media spin...since there is no
credible evidence for anyone to study at this point...
I actually don't have any opinions as to who is best with the singer.
I do have an opinion on how they are doing their elimination tonight. It stinks.
You get the results before we do here. Is there something new going on?
And I don't see much of the news anymore..haven't in quite a while. No opinion shows either..which is what most of those cable news shows are. I only have 30 minutes of NBC news and usually I'm too busy then.
I wasn't even watching it when I did have the news channels at the camp. My sis was there. She was only interested in movies.
Carol, what did you think of Idol tonight?
OK Carol, where are you? I wonder how the other contestants thought about the judges dismissing most of the usual routines in this show. I too believe Jessica is excellent - but it was sort of a "sorry, but you don't measure up to this girl" A sort of why go on with this show. I am concerned and disappointed in the judges. I don't think Simon Cowell would have done that or allowed it.
Well, that is the only save the judges have. Next week is a whole new "ball of wax. "
I went on a gummy worm mission. I have a craving. I had some off brand gummy worms but they didn't measure up. I had to hit two different stores.
I felt like the "spare" tonight. That's OK. I'm a big girl.
