Carol's new Puppy... Too cute for words
Yorkshire Terrier No matter how many people or animals in the house, Yorkies will assert themselves, involving themselves in lots of hi-jinks that are mostly amusing and fun. This assertiveness usually comes across as self-confidence, not aggressiveness. They get along very well with other dogs and easily adapt to family life. Thanks for sharing her with us, Carol.

Picture 3 is my favorite, but she is such a perfect pup, it doesn't really matter which pic you look at.

How's Maggie doing around her? Is she jealous or put out?

Unknown said...

Regardless, everyone will adapt... with time.

Can't get the link where the info. about Yorkie's came from to post, so I'm putting it here.

Half the time I feel like in the Twilight Zone when I'm on the internet. My computer and I are usually of two different minds... and it's always baffling.

Carol,

Did you ever finish seasons 1 and 2 of House of Cards?

I watched both seasons and loved that series! Cannot wait for it to go to season 3.

Only saw a couple of episodes of season 2 so far. Kinda forgot season 1

Thanks for posting the pics of little girl. Greta is coming to get her tomorrow. We will be sad but I'll get to see her often. I think Greta plans to name her Joan Jet Black. All her dogs have a color in their name.

Maggie responds to little girl by 1/2 the time growling ,the other Hal ignoring her. Her vote was for little girl to find a indifferent home.

Chloe, you did a great job with the pics and post. She is such a cute little doggie.

Carol, so glad you found a good home for her. She is a sweet looking little girl.

I had a terrible time last night. I am reading this book about a woman who fell in love with Frank Lloyd Wright and lived with him for about 5-6 years. It is sort of a cross between a novel and non-fiction but based on a true story. I was really into the book. I loved the woman, central character. Usually I stop reading about 10:30-11 pm and go to sleep. I have not been able to do that with this book. I have read until midnight some nights. Really good book. Just my kind of reading. Well, I was finishing the book last night - about 11:30 and totally shocked when she was murdered - and her 2 young children- in the book. I did not see that coming. It was like someone who was a good friend had been murdered. This was a true story. I was shaking all over. ( I get really involved in a book I like). I tried to go to sleep and could not. After about 30 minutes, I began to itch all over. I guess it was a reaction to stress. I have had that happen before with a real life event. John woke up and he rubbed my back for about 30 minutes until I calmed down. Bless his heart! I finally did go to sleep but am really tired today.

jan said...

The name of the book is "Loving Frank." I wish I had know that the book would end this way and I still would have read it but at least would have been prepared for that ending. I went online and looked up Frank Lloyd Wright and Wikopedia told confirmed this. He was truly an artist but an SOB in some ways.

Unknown said...

I'm sorry you've had a rough couple of days, Jan. I have a physical reaction to stress too. What made your situation so tough was surely the fact that you knew it was true. You're lucky to have John to help you cope... you're lucky to have each other (all though I'm sure it is less luck, and more good decision making on both your parts).

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

You know, Carol... those are some interesting looking leaves in your picture. Much smaller than I'm used to seeing and a little different shades also.

What a cute dog. Glad it's found a home.

Jan… I read Loving Frank about 2 years ago. Excellent book, IMO. I too was shocked when Mamah and her 2 children were murdered. It's well known that Wright was a bastard.
Most of his houses are in the midwest… only a few out east. One of them is in the largest city in NH… Manchester. Because Rick and I are members of the art museum in Manchester, we can have a free tour of this house. You can only see it on certain days and you must make an appointment with the museum as they take only small groups. We haven't done it yet… maybe later this spring.

No surprise that a lost pup would find it's way to your home Carol...

Good to have a happy ending for the little girl...she does look like a cutie, sounds like Maggie was not thrilled so lucky you found a new family for her...

Coreen said...

Interesting revelations about Wright...pretty sure there still is one of his homes in Fairfield County (in one of the more upscale towns closer to NYC)...

For some reason I often mixed up Frank Lloyd Wright with Stanford White another famous architect with a scandalous life...

Truth certainly can be stranger than fiction....& just goes to show that any current celebrity scandal has nothing on these old rich guys...

Little girl is very poopy, one of the disadvantages of a new pup. Greta needs that like she needs a hole in her head. She already raising a preteen with Asberger's. She adopted him when he was just a tot .he had a history of abuse by his family. She already has 4 dogs.

It seems like many of us need some sort of challenge in our lives. .i often did. Any time my life started to settle down, I'd find a way to make it more of a challenge. Anyone else notice a similar tendency. Growth requires a certain amount ogf strain. Maybe thT is why we choose difficult patchs, to grow

jan said...

Renee and Coreen, good to hear your comments about book and FLW. I do enjoy books about strong women. My other favorite books have been bios of Georgia O'Keefe and Julia Child.

I am very interested now in seeing some of FLW's buildings/houses. He was a most interesting man and I totally agree Renee - he was a bastard. I was not as upset with him for leaving a woman he did not love any longer but rather I think he was a scoundrel and dishonest for not paying the people who worked for him and other bills - this came out in the book.

I did look him up online to learn more about him. His birthdate June 8 is same as my dad's. Interestingly my dad was a scoundrel too. Of course on a much less grand scale. Lol.

jan said...

I do recommend the book. It is well written and most interesting despite the outcome. The book is more about the woman who loved FLW and told from her perspective. The author did her research but yet she discloses it as a work of fiction. Much of the factual parts are based on letters the central character wrote to a woman-friend in Switzerland.

Unknown said...

Any time my life started to settle down, I'd find a way to make it more of a challenge.

Maybe we just don't learn from our mistakes. One things for sure, we're getting something out of the things we choose. But for the life of me, I don't undertand what half time.

Maybe Greta saw the puppy's picture, and realized she could love her... maybe needed that in her life right now. Maybe she felt like helping you and puppy both out, and feels good when she can go good for others. Maybe she wants to make the world a better place.

All that said, it does seem that we complicate our lives. Our subconscious never give's up. Don't like it when I realize I keep making the same mistakes over and over. Don't like it when I feel driven. But can't help but think, driven we are. I guess the trick is to finally be completely, consciously, in control.

A battle between the conscious and subconscious. A power play.

... now my biggest challenge is to get off this computer for a while and stay off.

jan said...

Carol, I too find your statement about finding more challenges in your life-- most interesting. I think many of us do that when we are younger. I think I did much the same thing. However, now I prefer routine and stability. At a younger age, routine and stability were like stagnation and rot. LOL.

Carol,

Your IPad is just dead. Maybe your charger stopped working.

If it won't take a charge, take it to the IPad store where you bought it, and tell them your problem. They can tell if it's taking a charge or not.

They won't charge you for checking, but they may need to sell you a new charging cord if yours is bad.

I'm positive that is the problem. When you first plug one in to charge, it takes a while for them to respond at all if they're really, really dead... usually just a few minutes. The phones are the same way.

Carol,
I betcha there's a setting problem.

I can't imagine that hacker are interested in stealing our benign post.

You might want to check out Webroot antivirus for ipod (I'll check to see if they make one). I don't have and antivirus on my ipod either, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Someone must make one for it.

Hackers normally go for big groups of people. Whatever your problem is, it can undoubtedly be solved.

Do you have the problem on your AT&T internet or on your portable Wifi (Mifi)? (House or camp?). If it's AT&T, then they should be able to help you. Same with your other one.

Narrow the problem down to where to where it starts, then it can be fixed.

Unknown said...

These problem seem insurmountable sometimes, but with help they can be solved.

Do you have a password set up on your internet? If you don't, neighbors and passer-byes can connect to the internet through your connection.

AT&T can walk you through that (if that's where the problem is).

Break it up into little, tiny parts... and you'll be able to solve the problem.

I have 2 questions that I would like your input on

1do any of you know anyone who had tour chase the Obamacare insurance. If so, how is it working ot?

#2. Do you agree with giving college athletes a salary?

Not necessarily good Sunday ponders but I'm curious as to what you think about the above.

jan said...

Carol, hmmmm - 2 questions.
We are on Medicare so cannot answer 1st question.

I don't know enough about the issue of college athletes to answer the 2nd question.

Personally, I think there is too much money spent on College football and basketball. The salaries they pay coaches is way too much.

We still have our healthcare insurance via HP until the end of the year. Don't know anyone personally who needs the exchanges from Obamacare.

Sports programs in colleges brings in BIG money… which is used to benefit programs throughout the schools. I can only imagine how high the already exorbitant tuitions would be at some places without those sports dollars pouring in. Good coaches get paid good money because the better the team, the more money the college makes.

But no… I don't think the athletes should get paid.
They are given an opportunity to become professional athletes. They are given an opportunity to get a good education cheaply. Even those that don't make the pros can have a leg up in whatever career they choose because of their reputation as a college athlete. I think they should strive to make the most of these opportunities. They are advantages that the other students don't get.

We are home. It was a quick trip to Las Cruces. Have you all heard of a little town called Truth or Consequences NM. Funny thing is it was originally named Hot Springs. They changed the name because of the show T or C. We drove through the little town on the way home - looking for something to eat. Very interesting little buildings in the downtown area. Should have taken some pictures. Apparently there are some hot springs there. There is another town and lake where people go for boating and camping called Elephant Butte. We are going back to explore this area sometime. Again, not much green - mostly brown.

I suppose you all know about the oil spill on the gulf. John's brother and his 2 married daughters and his grandchildren, (and his ex wife and her husband) were going on a cruise, leaving from Galveston yesterday. They won't be going. The cruise line is returning their money.

Chloe, have not heard about the Malaysian flight yet. I have been in a meeting all day. Nothing worse than sitting in a meeting 8 hrs and then sitting in a car another 3 1/2 hrs. So glad to be home.

Jan… that oil spill sounds ghastly.

Chloe… you must be hearing about the spill on your local news stations. Galveston has a huge bird sanctuary. I hate hearing about these types of things as so many species of birds are now in a population decline.

Renee,

It's actually painful for me to even think about the damage the latest spill (all of them, for that matter) is doing to those birds. The destruction of wildlife, because of the oil industry, is so unforgivable and unnecessary.

What they've done to the gulf is disgusting. It's not someplace anyone even wants to visit.

I don't follow local news specifically (never watch news on TV), but here's coverage by Audubon. Large Oil Spill in Galveston Bay Threatens Tens of Thousands of Birds

Carol, I asked the wrong question. I just want to hear from you. What is happening in your life.

Unknown said...

All the things that go wrong on these computers usually have some logical (although unknown to us) reason, Carol.

Are you sure your cap lock isn't on when you type the password... things like that.

If you try a password too many times, then they lock you out. You can then simply change it by clicking on 'change password' (on most sites).

Why not take your computer/phone to a professional, so they can check it out to see if it's running correctly. If there is a virus, they can find it. If not, they can most likely solve all (most of) your problems for you.

These computers can really confuse us, but when that happens it's best to step back and then tackle it one thing at a time. However, there may be times we need that professional to look at it.

One thing I have to do to mine sometimes is to restore it to an earlier time. That sometimes solves the problems I may have.

Passwords are so infuriating, but you can always change it. Don't let it get you down.

Unknown said...

Actually, it's not 'change password' you click on (unless you know the old one)...

... Forgot my password. Then they email or text a new temporary password to you, which you can immediately sign in with.

Once you get into your account, you can change it to a password you want. Just make sure you write down the temporary password, as you will need to use it to change to the new password you want.

Coreen said...

Computers...always a mystery...I have a list of passwords stored, since more often then not sites refuse to recognize them...I really hate the ones that you need to put letters, symbols, numbers or whatever to make a totally impossible to remember

And as far as problems, just this
week my work computer refused to
recognize the scanner I use to
send documents, mind you the scanner has been the same one for 3 years on this computer...& if a backup that I found at home won't adapt I will have to get a new version, which may or may not prove compatible to the windows system on the computer!...we shall see later...& oh every few days I have to enter the password

And this decision from CT Supreme Court may lead to one of the very few times I find myself in agreement with our Governor...

In a case where a child was bitten by a horse at a farm, the CT courts have found that the horse was a 'vicious' animal & upheld the verdict awarding damages to the family...

There is a pending bill before our legislature to address this
issue, which the gov. says he will sign, hopefully the legislature will pass this now...

Scuppy the horse was vicious

Unknown said...

Horses are dangerous animals (any animal that large and heavy is unpredictable).

Vicious and mean, no... not usually. Malleable, very. They're often mistreated, probably because of that malleability.

They're easily spooked. They have three choices on how to react. The first is to run away. Since they're often tied down, their only other choices are to bite or to kick.

No one should be around a horse unless they completely understand how to keep themselves safe from one.

The owner probably should be liable for allowing an inexperienced person within reach.

I don't think 'viciousness' is the right term though. But I guess it worked within the law, to accomplish what the judge wanted to accomplish.

Just so they don't harm the horse for doing what horses do.

Unknown said...

Hi, Coreen.

Coreen… that story about Jerry Remy and his son Jared is all over the news here. It's a huge topic on the local sports radio stations (which I've taken to listening to a couple hrs a day). Jerry is a long time Red Sox color man on tv. The consensus on radio is that he should walk away from broadcasting. But it's actually a minority of fans that listen to that stuff. I'd bet good money that the majority of fans are glad he's back and look forward to seeing and hearing him when the regular season starts….. OMG!… that's only 4 days away…. YES!

For myself… he can stay or go… since he's under contract for 4 more yrs and it was his son, not him that murdered anyone… the choice (even legally) is his. But if he goes, I will miss him and wish him well.

I believe any animal has the potential to act viciously.

My 21 y/o granddaughter works with a horse rescue group in AR. She dearly loves those horses. When visiting her recently she took me to the farm where the rescued horses live. She approaches them so gently. She asked me to stay back since the horses do not know me. I think there are so many keys here when it comes to any animal.

Young children are not good when it comes to animals. They tend to react to animals in ways that might be construed by the animal as aggressive. Parents and others who work with animals should know that and be ever mindful when introducing young children to animals.

If I remember correctly, though, Madonna is self made, but Gwyneth was born into the lap of luxury. That's all she knows.

Oh, well, as Jack (TM) always says... perception is reality. And actors are all about drama and being the center of attention, so what else can you expect.

Thanks for linking the article, Coreen.

Weather's improved here too. Yesterday was 87 degree's. This morning it's 60 and overcast (a rain came through quickly last night).

The tree's are mostly bloomed and I am so happy for all the green. Again, I LOVE Spring!

... hope everyone else is enjoying it too.

Unknown said...

Carol,

Wish I could answer your question, but as you know, I know zero, zip, nil about sports.

Hope you all have a great day!

Unknown said...

Oh, and Carol.

If you or Greta can email a pic of that cute little girl Greta adopted, we could put her at the top of the post, along with a post about her accomplishments.

... just a thought. (?)

Spring has finally sprung here in NH as well. We've turned off the heat and opened up some windows just a crack to let in some fresh air.

Hope you guys really like The Goldfinch… it's not a happy story, but I had hard time putting the book down.

Jan, the nFL wants to stop the football players from doing the little ass shaking boogie they do in the end zone after they make a touch down, They want to take the fun outta football for us women's.

Spent the day yesterday with family. It would have been Rick's mom's 85th birthday. Several of my nieces came up with their kids to see grandpa (Rick's father). We ended the day by going out to one of Rick's parents favorite restaurants. It felt good celebrating as a family even though my mother in law wasn't with us.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol…
haven't heard anything about the NFL taking the boogie dancing out. I do know they will now penalize a team for dunking the ball over the goalposts after a touchdown.

Carol said...

Chloe, I tried to get a new pic of little girl yesterday but she wouldn't hold still.

Coreen said...

Not quite ready to shut the heat, but there is a marked difference in the feel outside...

Renee, I did buy the "Wicked" ebundle of the 3 books in the collection...Now the trick will be to read them and then go see the play...

I bought a yard leaf sweeper yesterday. Problem is that there are a hundred pieces that need to be put together. If you look at the doggie pics, yo will see why I need a leaf sweeper. Roomie is good at house work but she said yard work is out of her expertise. I usually have that in my expertise but I have too many unhealed injuries.

Had roomie bring me to the casino last night. She doesn't gamble but she brought me luck. I won about 400 bucks and gave her 100 for the luck and for being a good sport to bring me. I hadn't been since before my stroke. I had won then but someone who worked at the hospital cleaned out all my money while I was having a ct scan. Pissed me off.

Carol said...

coreen, sounds like a series jan would like.

Carol said...

Chloe, you got mail. Greta sent me a new pic and I forwarded to you

I am looking forward to the 3rd season of Call the Midwife. I saw the 1st season. Missed the 2nd season. I thought they were reruns so didn't watch. I think it is good even if you are not interested in nursing or midwifery. The time period is after WWII.

jan said...

Carol, congrats on the casino win. We have so many casinos here. Never been. John keeps wanting to go try their restaurants.

jan said...

We have a huge yard and have hired a landscaper to redo it. It is costing us a bunch, but I think it will be worth it. We are doing xeriscape - no lawn, some rock, some additional patio area and lots of new southwestern plants and trees that require little water.

I am going to take before and after pictures. This is the back yard. We had the front done several years ago but going to do a little more on it too.

jan said...

Coreen/Renee, what is the Wicked series? I have looked but cannot find it in comments.

jan said...

Carol, I don't watch much football but I too enjoy the little shows the players do when they make a touchdown. Why would anyone want to take away that entertainment???

jan said...

Renee, I bought the Goldfinch too. I have not started it yet. Most books I read any more are sad. Once in a while I like a John Grisham novel or one like his because they are not so sad, just fun.

jan said...

Renee, sounds like a good day with family.

A good friend from Santa Fe visited me Thurs night and friday. She spent the night. We taught at the Univ together and have remained friends. She is probably the only girl friend I have here in NM. We do not see each other often because she does live in SF. It was fun to catch up.

I am battling another cold. My sore throat began thurs evening so I hope friend does not get this. It is a little better today but have had 2 rough nights. Thurs nite was awful sore throat and last night was very runny and sore nose. I am taking tylenol, ibuprofen and some homeopathic stuff I found. I drink fluids constantly. Warm fluids are doing the most good.

Carol, I keep vaseline on my nose, eyes and lips all the time. It does help.

Winning at a casino, not bad Carol...when you go do you ever
see the shows...at the 2 indian
casino's in CT they do have some good entertainment, but the arenas are pretty big & as far as
I'm concerned too big to really enjoy it...have not been there in
several years...

Jan, Wicked Collection is a series of 4 books surrounding the wizard of oz story that the musical is based on...In a conversation recently with Renee, I told her I read fiction, romance, fantasy, mysteries nothing that is sad, heavy or with a moral..& liked some of those about witches, demons, vamps, she mentioned she enjoyed the Wicked series...
& we both would like to see the musical, Wicked...I for one have no excuse other than laziness for not getting my act together & just going to NYC to see it & a couple of others...its about an 1-1/2 hour drive with traffic all the way to Manhattan...

Coreen said...

Do you like Nora Roberts?

Just added the 2nd in a Nora Roberts trilogy that just came out this week "Shadow Spell"...the first was "Dark Witch"...about a woman
who goes back to Ireland searching for her roots & meets her cousins & together they battle an ancient evil...easy reading, entertaining...no
morals, no deep thinking, don't want to be depressed...why bother reading just to feel bad, but hey that's just me...

Coreen said...

Another recent easy & enjoyable read...

"the Gods of Guilt" another of Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer series..one of Mickey Heller's former clients is murdered & he feels guilty about it...enough said...quick moving, easy read, & foremost entertaining...

jan said...

Coreen, thanks for the the book tips. I am looking for some books that are fun and not so heavy for in between the ones that are sad. Balance is the key.

The Invention of Wings was excellent but very heavy and at times so sad and intense - the treatment of the slaves - that I had to put it down every so often.

jan said...

I did read the Shades of Grey trilogy and thoroughly enjoyed it - I saw it mostly as fantasy.

Carol said...

No Coren, I don't go to see any sows at the casino

... glad you 'and roomie' hit the jackpot, Carol! An omen? (a good one, at that. Everything is an omen to me... as long as it's good.) Good times are coming!

Maybe you should get some bids on having someone come in to do yard work once a week (or every 2). Some of them are pretty cheap, especially if you can find a kid in the neighborhood that wants to make a little extra money.

You need to concentrate on healing.

I'm with you on the shows at Casinos, Carol. When we used to go to Vegas a lot (it was a short, easy flight from S.C.), we went to some shows, but there were very few I really enjoyed.

Never made as big a win as you did either, but didn't lose much either (not much of a gambler).

Mainly liked Vegas for the luxury. Way back then you could get a lot for so little.

It's changed,from what I understand.

Unknown said...

Jan,

That 'Xeriscape' sounds perfect and I imagine the upkeep will be a lot easier too. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

It's always good to landscape close the the natural environment you live in. The dessert is so beautiful (especially N.M.) and why not work with it.

Please keep us informed!

Unknown said...

Jan, You lived in the climate we live in here, so you'll know what I mean when I say we enjoy our landscape mostly looking out a window from the temperature controlled environment of the indoors.

That's why I like wall to wall windows. I can sit inside, and have the feel of being outside. As well as hearing all the irresistible sounds of the outdoors. The birds and any other wildlife.

It's so important to make the most of what we've got. This morning, once again I was pondering how important it is to feel gratitude for whatever it is we have. I think gratitude is the secret to happiness.

... I guess the other side of that is that 'discontent' may be signally us that we need to change something.

Unknown said...

Thanks, Coreen, for all the great recommendations you've made. My book arrived and I plan on order the other one you mentioned too, The Gods of Guilt.

... also going to check out 'Call the Midwife'.

The hardest part is always 'finding' good books and series. I appreciate any help I can get.

Jan… as Coreen said, we were talking on the phone a few weeks ago and talking about the types of books we both like. We do share some likes, but mostly have different tastes. I have a degree in English and I really LOVE literature. I'm not into what I call "chick lit. light". All reading for me is fun... even if it is a heavy and serious book. I do occasionally read what is called "just for fun", but it must be at least moderately well written… if not I give the damn thing away. You can call me a book snob if you like… as Coreen says… hey that's just me! :)

The Wicked series is by Gregory Maguire. I've read the first 2 books. I do have the last 2, but haven't gotten to them yet. They are fun and well written, IMO.

RebelliousRenee said...

Chloe…
Rick and I went to Vegas for my 50th birthday (I will hit my 60th this year). We tried the slot machines and got bored… it was just not for us. I have friends that love it though. I say if you love it… go for it.

We went to 3 shows… Blue Man Group, one of the Cirque du Soleils, and Mama Mia…. loved all of them! We keep saying if we ever go back to Vegas it will be only for the shows.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan… I hope you feel better soon. I know there is a push for people living in the desert to do natural landscaping that requires little water. Considering the water problems out there, IMO that's good thing.
I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Unknown said...

Oh, lordy, Carol. That snake is ridiculously long. It's obviously had way too long a life.

Renee, good to hear from you this morning. I wasn't surprised to hear you have a degree in English. May I say I've enjoyed every book you've ever mentioned to me (except here lately, since I'm way behind...and probably will be for a while longer).

I've been horrible at organizing my time (I'd say 'trying' to organize it, but haven't put enough effort into it to call it trying).

I have some serious soul searching to do. Ha... I just haven't had to time for it in a long while.

Unknown said...

I missed somewhere along the line that you weren't feeling well, Jan. Sorry about that.

Unknown said...

... know they have some wonderful shows in Vegas, Renee. I've just never been as much into live entertainment as I am into the big screen (which now takes in my huge TV too!). I guess that because I live close to Hollywood so long. :))

Been to lot of plays, etc. but still enjoy the big screen more. I have no culture!

Come to think of it, just the fact that I'm choosing to communicate on a blog, shows that I prefer to be one removed. Maybe I just like the control it gives me.

Did I ever mention I prefer photography over actual art. See, I told ya... no culture.

(although photography is an art)

Oops, I just received the pic on my phone, but I'm not sure I can get it from there to my computer.

I couldn't even email it to myself last time, and my phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my computer. Not sure whether the problem is my computer or phone, but all the same... there's a problem.

Renee, I too love good literature. My son's wife has multiple sclerosis and has been wheelchair bound for 12 plus years is getting her masters in literature - all on line. I don't remember what university it is. This program has changed her mental attitude 100%. She has taken about 8 of her courses. She takes one at a time and they last about 8-9 weeks. She and I have always had the same taste in books. She has recommended The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. That is the next one I am ordering. One of her courses was creative writing and since that course she has decided to write a book about her experience living with multiple sclerosis. My son (her husband) is finishing course work for his doctorate in higher education. I think its an EdD. They have their living room set up with wall to wall desks on 2 walls and 3 computers for all of their school work.

jan said...

I have been to Vegas for 2 conferences on young children. I don't care for either gambling or the bright lights. Have not been to a show either - they are so expensive and I too would rather watch the big screen.

jan said...

Thanks Chloe, am feeling a little better today. Most of throat pain about gone and nose no longer runny. I do have some pain in bronchi when I cough. that worries me because it feels like I may have some secondary (bacterial) infection now. Hope not! So hard to get antibiotics. If it goes on for longer than a week, I will go to urgent care.

jan said...

Renee, John and I do try to conserve water. We have only plants that are native to this part of the country now. We only wash cars when we take a trip. Some of the Navajos and other Native peoples here do not have running water. When I go to the laundromat on Sundays I often see Native peoples there. I am going to look for some large barrels to collect water. We can connect hoses to them and then use them for watering plants after rainfall.

I haven't check my email, or anything else, for that matter, this morning. My hands are full until Emma is on her way to school, unless I get up way before her (which I didn't).

If I didn't get that email, how about asking Greta to send that pic directly to my email, Carol?

Regardless, good to hear that she loves her so much and that she is happily settled into a loving home.

One more thing you done well, for the world, Carol. You and Greta, both.

Off to check out Yahoo, etc., to see what's going on in the world.

One last thing, Carol.

Did you every continue watching 'White Collar'?

I finished seasons 1-4 (which were free), and just bought season 5 (which is the last season) for only $21 on Amazon.

I really hate to finish it. I always feel like I've lost my best friends when I end a series. That's what happens when you watch so many in a row... they become a part of you for a short time.
