Here "is" Ryley and friends. Duh. I should have edited my post. Oh well. I meant to put a pic of Ryley first. 1st 3 pics are in Cloudcroft NM a year ago. The last 2 pics are of Ryley and Ryley and John.

John is going to Cloudcroft next weekend to do a service there. I will be in OK so I will miss his trip. I love going there. So peaceful. It is up in the mountains so it is very green and cool in the summer.

I am going to Ok to take care of some business and go to an Owasso girls reunion. These were girls I went through grade school with and have kept in touch with.

The house in the background is where we stay when we go to Cloudcroft.

Jan... what a nice surprise! We just got back from our celebration and how great to see pictures of Ryley, John, and you. Thanks so much for posting them.

I had my favorite Italian meal... chicken piccata. I LOVE anything with lemon... and garlic.

I've heard that Cloudcroft is considered one of the most beautiful spots in your state. My favorite spot that we visited was a resort called Angel Fire. We keep saying we want to go back to NM. We'll get there someday.

Renee, I love chic piccata too. Love the garlic and lemon. Makes me hungry just thinkng about it. Cloudcroft is lovely. The little downtown area is quaint. Lots of little shops to wander through. We took our 20 y/o granddaughter there with us last year and took a drive to white sands NM. I had never been there. She loves to visit the Nat'l parks. I was amazed at the stuff they call "sand". It is actually another substance called gypsum. It is very fine.

Another visit we had in Cloudcroft we went to an outdoor theatre. All local people were the actors. It was great fun.

The picture of me was out on the back patio of the home we stayed in. There were all kinds of birds and wildlife back there. I could sit out on that patio for hours just watching and listening to the birds.

I have never been to Angel Fire. It is not that far. We need to go.

Yes, Renee, you would love Carol's cooking. She is an excellent cook. I have enjoyed many of her dishes.

Hey Carol, I am not going to OK until next Thursday. Just staying 2 nights. I have some business on Friday and the girls reunion is on Sat. and then will fly home late Sat afternoon. It was lucky that the 2 things came at the same time.

This Sunday is the feast of Saint Francis and our church does the Blessing of the animals in the 10 am service. We had Ryley bathed and a little grooming today. She looks like a white, fluffy little bear. She will be nice and clean for her Blessing.

Carol, how is Maggie?

Carol said...

Maggie is great. She still thinks. Home instead e is specifically for her. She loves the people. They treat her like she's their client. She's waiting at the front window early. I've cut the time down to 8 hrs a day.

Hope none of you are in this bad weather. MAg and I are good.

Carol....
I have not seen Obermann's show... but I've been reading plenty about it.l He lives in NYC and is an avid Yankees fan. Nothing wrong with that.... except he seems to be pissed that the Yankees have missed the playoffs and the Red Sox have the best record in BB. From what I've read, he's taking every opportunity to tear the Red Sox down. So at the moment... every good Red Sox fan thinks the O-man can go Eff himself.

I hope that Karen doesn't affect you too much. We are expected to get the remnants on Tuesday. We really need the rain.

Jan...
I just went to look up White Sands National Park on google. The first thing I clicked on was the official government site. All I got was a message saying that all parks are closed due to the shut down. Yeah... so... why should it mean I can't look at the website... sheesh.

I LOVE St. Francis. Enjoy the service tomorrow.

Changed our minds about the weekend. Decided to go to balloon fiesta tomorrow morning. So going to church tonight. They have a hispanic/college group service and take Ryley for her Blessing.

So tomorrow, up at 4 am. We will catch the shuttle at the mall and head to see mass assencion of the balloons. I will take pictures.

Hope my knee holds out.

jan said...

Carol, you are doing great with your typing.

jan said...

Don't know how to spell assencion. I tried several spellings and still get the red line under the word. So WHO cares about spelling.

Carol said...

Jan, Im sure it is bedause of this sfroke rhar I' hacing troule typing. I need to keep practicing so bare wirh me

Carol said...

i used to be good typist

jan said...

Carol, you know we are all with you. Keep writing.

Took Ryley to church this evening. first time I have been to this service. They only have it once a month. Part was in English and part in Spanish. The musician was a woman with a guitar and her 3 children. They are Hispanic and the music was all in spanish although she speaks English. I loved the service.

We got there early and every time a new dog came into the sanctuary, Ryley had to bark. John and I took turns holding her. It is easier to quiet her when one of us is holding her. She actually did very well. Didn't bark that much.

Carol, my writing is like yours when I text on my phone and I do my one finger writing. I am just so happy you are writing here again.

Yes, you certainly are a good typist.

We watched a movie on TV last night that I found interesting. John fell asleep. He said it didn't move fast enough for him. The movie was Moneyball. I am generally not that interested in sports and this was about baseball.

Has anyone here seen the movie. It was about a general manager of the Oakland Athletics, Billy Beane. Brad Pitt played Billy.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... I have not seen Moneyball. I do know about Billy Beane, who is the Oakland Athletics GM. He picks baseball players for the team based on statistics. Because it's worked out for his team.... now baseball keeps statistics on everything.

I think it's spelled ascension.... but I agree... who really cares on a blog. Hope you had a good time and the sight of all those balloons rising was beautiful.

Regardless of the typing, you are
getting your thoughts out there Carol..& they are pure Carol as
always...

Don't watch espn or listen to their
radio shows, so no to keith o, lost interest in his antics way back when...

As for baseball & football, Renee I'm sure you are on cloud 9 so far,
I guess we shall see if the gods are fans of Boston teams this year...you know I'm hoping not!!...

Around here, can't recall any balloon festivals, would suspect the terrain is just not agreeable...so hope you get to see some interesting balloons Jan & show them to us...getting up that early would also prove a no-no for me!!...

jan said...

Renee, Moneyball was about Billy Beane and building a baseball team based on stats. Since I don't follow sports, I learned something new about baseball. Brad Pitt is a good actor. I would watch anything he is in.

jan said...

Renee, toward the end of the movie, Boston Red Sox offered him 12 million to be GM of the RS and he turned them down to stay in Oakland. The movie hinted that it was because of his daughter who lived with her mother there in CA. The movie got lots of Oscar Noms in 2011 but no wins there but got lots of other awards. There was much footage of actual BB games.

We got up at 5 am this morn, caught a shuttle at the mall to go to the Balloon fiesta. It was so cold - John says about 39 and low 40s. I did not dress warm enough and nearly froze, but the balloons were great. Got some great pics. Will start a new post. We got back on the shuttle at 8 am. Home by 8:30 and I got in a hot bath to warm up.

Carol,
Coreen is right on- your comments are classic Carol no matter how you spell anything, we will get it. We all love what you write.
