Balloon Fiesta Albuquerque 2013

The weather this morning was perfect for the Balloon Fiesta. It was cold but little wind. The skies were blue. The crowd was as big as I have seen in past years. It is changed much over the years. When I lived here in the early 1980's it was only a field for the balloons. Now, there are a large number of vendors and they have an arts and crafts tent. Ahhh progress!

Saints won today. First 5=0 since2009. Sorry about the Patriots today Renee.

Jan... thanks for the pictures!
Rick and I took a hot air ballon ride over the Arizona desert for our 25th wedding anniversary. LOVED IT!

Carol... congrats on your Saints! Hey our Red Sox and Bruins won last night. You know sports... take pleasure in your wins cuz there's always loses as well.

Coreen.... I guess Obermann does sports the same way he did politics... as a hyperbolic drama queen.

jan said...

Glad you all like em.

Renee, Most people I hear that take the balloon rides love it. Just never wanted to get that high up without lots of metal around me.

Carol said...

Jan, what would the metal be for, no sharks up there?

KLast night I cooked foe my two fav sitters. I' still trying to get back to more normal functioning. Everything turned out ok except the bakeded potatos. they were still hard. the salad, steaks, and bread turned out ok. i THINK THEY ENJOYED the dinner.

I tried to mow today but i'm afraid o that mower since the stroke. It's a powerful machine.

I bet the Red Sock's sucess is very sweet after last year Renee. We are enjoying the Brave's good year and the Saints. We all need our turn. Yankee's had lots of turns.

jan said...

Carol, I meant I am ok in an airplane but a basket hanging from a big hot air balloon is not enough for me.

jan said...

Carol, Sounds like a lovely dinner you fixed for your sitters.

Carol, I was wondering when was the last time we went to the ABQ balloon fiesta. I knew I posted pics here so I went backwards. It was in Oct 2009. I found the post but the pics were gone. Don't know why?

Carol said...

Jan, where is that post? Did you puf it up yourself? I fhink fhat only fhe person who puts up the post can alter it

Carol....
the Red Sox are the first team in baseball history to go from last place one season to first place the next season. All I wanted for this year was for them to improve... they've done it in spades!

Next week in football.... your Saints vs my Patriots. Your Saints are a very good team.... but... Go Patriots! :)

Jan...
I forgot to mention yesterday that I know someone who does the arts and crafts part of the balloon festival.

Rick and Beth Elkin are both jewelers. They're both from NH and belong to the professional guild I belong to... The League of NH Craftsmen. If one has participated in the LNHC's fair for 15 yrs, you get grandfathered and can still do the fair no matter where you live.

Rick and Beth moved to a little town on the Mexican border close to Las Cruces about 5 yrs ago. They come up every yr to do the NH League's fair in August and visit with their families. They've also been doing the balloon festival fair since their move.
They've told us it's a very good show.

There's a possibility that two of our teams could be competing , Braves/Ted socks and PTriots/Saints. Not feeling too good about the. Braves right now. Maybe the Saints.

Carol said...

Red Socks. And Patriots.

Renee, We went into the A&C tent while at the balloon fiesta. Wish I had known about the Elkins yesterday - boo hoo- I did visit the booths but do not remember specific names. There is also a big A&C tent on the road to the balloon field. This tent is up for fri or sat thru sun both weekends of the fair. I won't be here this coming weekend or would look them up. Hope they have a succussful trip.

Book sounds interesting Carol. You will have to share more of it with us as you read it.

Lovely that you have 2 new friends.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
I googled that book by Dispenza. Looks interesting.

I think one of the big lessons to be learned about living a happy life is taking stock of what is "really" happening around you. Don't let things distract you. Don't get caught up in what is happening in the news... which you can't control... and getting all emotionally wrapped up in it.

It's ok to be informed... but if you're freaking out over the government shutdown.... or getting all emotional over the verdict of George Zimmerman... you need to think why you let these things matter so much to you. IMO, letting the tv control your feelings is kinda insane.

I LOVE sports.... but if my teams lose, the sun still comes up in the morning. I'm still laying beside a man I love and can pat my cats and they purr. I still have plenty to eat.

just my 2 cents....

Carol said...

Renee , I stopped letting things out of f my control get ro me finally. Will be a little disappointed if your Patriots beat my Saints.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... good for you!
And I'm glad you've made some friends too.

It's funny.... when one is a kid, it seems to be easy to make friends. Hell, you're in school with all these other kids. But as adults, it seems to be a harder thing.

Yeah... I was a bit disappointed that my Red Sox didn't finish off the Rays last night. They try again tonight. Don't know if I'll stay up to see the whole game. Last night they played for 4 1/2 hours. It doesn't start until 8:30 tonight. No way I'll be up til 1 in the morning just for a baseball game.

Carol said...

I've been watching the bb games and my team is out of it now. I'm over these games preepting my Big
Bsng shows on TBS now. now watch Modern Family reruns on USA. Need my comedies.

Yes Jan, it's tough to make new friends as an adult. Have to have a stroke an hire some friends and it; not cheap. Af leasf there is that option. With a spouce some of you hace live in friends

Carol said...

Well Remee sid you stay up ro watch? Id not you probably missed some exciting action.

Carol said...

Glad ro see that the Yanks refuses to offer another long expensive Contract. I think that's why they are in the condition that they are in. Too many expensive seniors who are vulnerable to injury.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... sorry about your Braves.

But.... how bout them Red Sox!
I went to bed shortly after 11:00... it was 2-1 with the Sox in the lead. If I'd of stayed up to watch the end and celebration, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep with all the adrenalin flowing. Rick and I are going to make a delivery of my scarves today to a gallery in one of NH's biggest cities, Nashua. I'm glad my Sox won... but I'm also glad I got a good night's sleep. Now I can meet with the gallery owner and have a good lunch at a great restaurant without falling asleep.

I posted this commenf on fh wrong posf

Saw my regular doc we discussed the Cv Doc's eeendatioms for no surgery. She agreed
And said
Since all three of us agree, including, me she thinks it's the right
Decision. She said
The
CV doc thinks the blockage
Is
Strictly blood clot and not plaque. My reg
Doc
Thinks that my own body may eventually clear it out. That can happen.

Carol said...

Renee, I'll deal wirh he Braves loss but now I hace to have a Saint's win.

Carol said...

only fair

jan said...

Carol, good to hear the news from your docs. Sounds good. The body is amazing.

jan said...

I fly away in the morning. I will not be on here until I return. I am not taking my computer. Taking phone but don't access this from phone. Have not figured out how to do it.
Will return sat night and check in.

Carol said...

Did you ever tell us where you are going jan?

jan said...

Carol, going to Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, and the waving wheat can sure smell sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain...

Carol said...

I can now type better on my phone with my thumbs rhan on my computer. If's my leff hand fha hits all fhe wrong keys whih makes sense with right brain trauma.

Carol said...

Have a good trip Jan. IS if fun or business?

Carol said...

Where are Ought thou Coreen? Are you having a post season depression? It is unusual not ro be watching your boys at this Time of the year. So I can i understand some isappointment not being able to.

Coreen said...

Now Carol, you of all should know
that is not likely to be the case...

I have not much interest in the baseball series but it would be
really good if the Dodgers win the NL championship & the World Series, so that Don Mattingly could win as a manager, since when he was a Yankee hero, the team did not win a series in the 1980's...& he above all deserves to have a world series ring...

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol....
Coreen called me the a couple days ago cuz she's interested in buying some of my scarves. She's fine. We did have a nice discussion on baseball. Yup it's true... a Yankee and Red Sox fan can have a civil conversation about the sport. Well.... at least 2 women can... :)

I think Jan told us the trip was both business and fun. She's going to some kind of reunion that happens to be going on while she's also doing business in OK.

Although if I was a betting type of person, I'd bet on your Saints this Sunday.... I still say.... GO PATRIOTS!!!

Coreen said...

And what does an Atlanta Braves fan have to say about the recent
dustup from those whining that the Washington Redskins change their
name (this comes up every few years)....Absolutely certain you already know my opinion..

From the NYT, useful idiot Maureen
spouts off with her lame opinion
Call an audible Dan

Coreen said...

Renee, don't let it get out that I may actually talk with a Red Sox
fan after they have won my team's division & are still playing in October, when my guys are not, not good for the image you know!...

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen.... of course I won't let anyone know... I have my own reputation to think about there, girl...

The sports people over at ESPN made a big deal about a couple of Cleveland Indians fans that painted their faces red with a little white about a week ago. I saw them while watching the game.... and all I thought was it was a couple of dudes painting their faces with the team's colors. Lots of sports fans do this.

Carol said...

I don'at have a problem with the Indian names or the chants for sport's teams.
