Thought it was time to move forward, so here's some of the
crew that has been visiting this summer...thankfully, no ant or other bug invasion so far...

A real Bambi and Flower...

Mother & fawn are still here & another female usually grazes with them, and there are still 8 turkeys, the 6 kids are growing & the mother still chases the other female, who tags along with the rest of the family...

Hoping for the best, since it seems
hunting season starts this week for both turkey & deer...I can't stand hunters...only wish my crowd
would stay around my property to be safe...

Carol said...

Good luck to your friends Coreen. Neat pics.

Carol said...

If your friends were here they wouldn't have TW fro take a pix. They would be dodging bullets.

jan said...

Great pictures Coreen. I too hope your wild friends stay put and do not get into harm's way (the hunters).

jan said...

Carol - from previous posts.

Hope your ant problem is over.

I have never seen rain like this in NM. We have a Tin-covered patio outside our bedroom. The rain now wakes me up because of the noise on the tin/metal roof. It rained a good bit of the night and early morning. I was awake off and on. So wound up sleeping until 8:30. Could not believe I was in bed that long. I have been sleeping so well lately. That property lawsuit is over. I cannot help but wonder if that is why I am sleeping so well now.

Yes, Colo is getting lots of rain too. My grandson and his wife and kids live in Colo. close to the wyoming border. He is in the USAF in Cheyenne Wyoming. They have had lots of flooding and roads closed in that area.

jan said...

Coreen, I have family who are hunters. But personally I don't know how anyone can kill those animals.

Coreen said...

About that housecleaning, started
cleaning windows, thought to get a jump on it before it gets cold...& it gets harder every season even with the tilt in windows that I have, harder to reach up, pull them in, now if only they could come up with something to really stop the aging process, where is that fountain of youth...if only...

jan said...

Coreen, love those tilt-in windows. We had them in the house we owned in AR. I wish I had them now.

jan said...

Had a downpour about 10:30 last night. For the 2nd time this summer, we had to move furniture out of one of the basement rooms and yank up the carpet. We got to it before the carpet got wet, just the backing was damp. Have fan going now to dry back of carpet. Have to find out why this is happening. They are saying this is record rainfall.

Tomorrow afternoon is my Cv doc Appointment. Say a prayer for me. Hope they can fix my plugged artery.

My Saints won even though they gave me

Carol said...

Did Renee et al run away from home. All this talk of housework and cleaning windows may have scared them. I doubt that is on their bucket list. My sitter service may have provided me with some neat potential companions ro do stuff with. I guess even bad stuff can have a
Silver lIining. Moat of

Can invite them our and cook
And wait on them.

jan said...

Carol, saying prayers for you for your CV appointment today.

jan said...

I think Renee and Rick are on vacation.

RebelliousRenee said...

Yes... we were on vacation... but now I'm home. Got home late yesterday afternoon. Glad to know everyone is alright. When I saw the stuff about all the rain in CO and NM, I thought of you, Jan.

It rained a couple days during our vacation... had fun anyways. Ate lots of rich food. Really enjoyed the beach. Read a good book (B. Kingslover's Flignt Behavior). West Side Story was awesome! Also saw the movie Blue Jasmine... loved it... very interesting as most of Woody's stuff is.

Now it's catch-up time with laundry, groceries, and that goddamn housecleaning. Not sure I'll totally catch up with TrailMix... too many comments.

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen....
great pictures. We have 3 families of turkeys visiting us... and yes, the adult females chase each other off of any food. The little ones are getting bigger by the day.
You seem to have more deer visiting you than I do. There's probably lots more woods up here for them to romp around.

Both of Rick's brothers hunt. I couldn't shoot an animal unless I was starving. But I know lots of hunters and they don't bother me as long as they follow the rules.

It was nice to see my Red Sox honor Mariano Rivera last night. I'm glad he's getting that at each ball park. He deserves it.

jan said...

Carol, waiting to hear how your appointment with the CV doc went.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
Hope all went well yesterday. I've still got my fingers crossed.

Carol said...

CV doc said he couldn't operate. The artery is plugged and the end of the artery is too narrow. HE said he will cdondult with the radiologist about something and get bak with me. He waws also oncerned about pushing clogts info my brain. Nor sure what leaving that artery blocked means. Maybe I'm a time bomb.

Unknown said...

Hi Carol, I ran across this discussion last night... where people have gone many years with blocked arteries and were fine. You said you had peripheral arteries growing and these people had very specific success stories with those.

I also saw a discussion a few days ago by a doctor who said 100% blocked is better than 80 or 90% because no blood clots can get through. He said it's safer. Please let me know if you want help finding online discussion groups. There is so much help on line regarding just about everything.

I think about you daily, and have been happy to see your progress. You seem to be doing better than you realize. I'm going to leave the link on the next comment box, because I don't think I can put too long a comment on here.

Here's the quote on the following link:

September 21, 2011 at 1:07 pm Kittyboy
I have FMD of the carotid arteries and just found out in June 2010. I am 66 yrs old. Both arteries are 100% blocked but after a brain angiogram I was told my body has "made" bypass arteries around the carotid and because I took aspirin since I was 17, every day because of headaches, the blood kept flowing. I only found out because I was dizzy and went in for an inner ear infection MRI. With that they discovered FMD. 4 Neurosurgeons later, I have been told I was probably born with this but my body has, over the years, taken it's own action. My doctors are amazed. Most had never seen this condition, only heard about it. The one doctor, that did the angiogram, and is 35 (which means he studied in it med school) said I could live 40 more years !! My other doctors in their 60's and 70's didn't study this and knew very little about it. I was lucky to go to a doctor that knew to also test my renal arteries to make sure they are okay.
All I do is take my aspirin every day which is my only medication and pray I don't have a stroke. I feel great with the exception of being dizzy some and having headaches on occassion.
I still take a big aspirin every day because they all agreed that is probably why I'm alive today. I was taking care of myself and not knowing it. Annually, I will have a brain MRI, which I just had, to make sure I have no aneurysms or dissections, which I have none.
Blocked artery discussion

If you get a popup on the link, reload the page with the reload button on your top tool bar and it will disappear. Even if pop up is there you can still read beyond it.

Carol said...

Thanks for that info Chloe.

Carol said...

I cant take Aspirin so I take Plavix and dipyridamole, both do the same thing that Aspirin does, inhibit platlets/clotting.

Unknown said...

Yes, Carol. I've read that the aspirin (or what you take) needs to attach itself to the platelet. This is all second nature to you from a lifetime of experience, but I'm learning as I go.

Wiki clarified it for me: "If the number of platelets is too low, excessive bleeding can occur. However, if the number of platelets is too high, blood clots can form (thrombosis), which may obstruct blood vessels and result in such events as a stroke, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism or the blockage of blood vessels to other parts of the body, such as the extremities of the arms or legs."

jan said...

Chloe, this sounds like great information. I think I will start taking aspirin.

Carol, thanks for getting back to us. This is all brand new information to me. Have never heard about this.

Unknown said...

Jan, My doctor said to only take a baby aspirin a day (about 80mg). A bottle of about a 100 was only a buck or two at Walmart. It's really made a difference for me.

Carol, I agree with Jan. I hope you continue to keep us up with how you are doing. I still learn so much from you.

jan said...

Chloe, I actually will have to check with my gastroenterologist before I take aspirin (baby) or anything else. I am taking 2 Omeprezole a day as I have esophagitis because of chronic reflux.

Unknown said...

Sorry to hear that, Jan. We worriers always have stomach/digestive problems.

After I had a Colonoscopy (the only one I ever had), my doctor put me on ranitidine(Zantac) for the rest of my life (now I don't even see him anymore). No side effects I've noticed and no more reflux. I'm sure the ulcer is gone too.

I looked them up and see they do work differently: Zantac is known as a H2 blocker, a class of drug that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the work of receptors that trigger acid production. Prisolec interrupts acid production later in the process by blocking already-produced acid from being secreted. Prilosec vs. Zantac.

You're right to check with your doctor.

jan said...

Chloe, thanks for that interesting discussion about the differences between the 2 drugs. I will continue to follow my GI doc's recommendations. Sometimes I forget to take the 2nd daily Omeprezole. It is working well though. I don't know how much longer I will be on this. I think I will talk to the doc about it when I see her in Dec.

jan said...

Good morning Carol. Would love to see something from you this morning.

My husband, John, had a dream early this morning that someone, in a deep voice, called out his name. He thinks it was God. That was all there was to the dream.

Carol said...

Jan, what does he think it means?

jan said...

Carol, These are John's words "I think the dream means that the voice is calling me back to myself. I have been wrestling with a lot of expectations that are not me."

Carol said...

"I have been wrestling with a lot of expectations that are not me."
Jan, I was having a similar feelings and it left me with a half less brain. I didn't have that much to spare.

Carol said...

"I have been wrestling with a lot of expectations that are not me."
Jan, I was having a similar feelings and it left me with a half less brain. I didn't have that much to spare.

Unknown said...

Carol, Half your brain is worth ten of most others. Please try to stay optimistic. So many people love you.

jan said...

Carol, I think we all wrestle with the expectations of others and ourselves. It is when we get to the age we are now that we begin to see that. Sometimes it comes from our dreams. Sometimes the realization comes when we are beating ourselves up for not doing something we think we should have done but did not. The message for me is that I am who I am and I am God's child. If there is something left undone, it was not supposed to be.

Carol, You have all your brain. You have simply had an insult to your brain. I can see through your writings here that your brain is recovering very well.

I agree with Chloe.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol....
IMO, Jan is right... we all deal with expectations. Hopefully, by maturing, one can learn to just let things be and be themselves. Of course... that's the easy part. The hard part is allowing others the same. I know I fail at that sometimes.

I've always enjoyed the personal interplay that goes on here. And YOU are what's made that possible.

Stay yourself, my friend.

Coreen said...

Carol, I have no insight or advice to offer...however, I do know that you will overcome whatever life has thrown your way...

And I see both insight & wisdom in what both Renee and Jan said...

Coreen said...

Hey Renee, congrats to you & your team clinching...don't think many would have believed in April that
the Red Sox would lead the division virtually the entire season, so a job well done...

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen.... thanks!
All I hoped for out of this team was to improve over last year. And considering they came in last, that wasn't hoping for much. I love these guys... they're a fun team to watch.

I see that Andy Pettitte is retiring after this year. He's another class act from your team. I wish him and Mo the best.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol....
Solar has written today's column for TrailMix. It's all about Tai Chi and what it has done for him. I thought of you after reading it.

Coreen said...

Carol, Renee, looks like Solar was thinking about you too Carol...

I know you already know it Carol, but there are lots of us all around you thinking about you...

Coreen said...

Renee, as far as my guys, none of the developments are a surprise, Andy, Mo, Derek? (hope not but just not sure if he comes back) & even Alex,(getting old stinks!) the uncertainty is there but as yogi says 'it ain't over til it's over!'...

Carol said...

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. We finally got
Some rain ans if was too much , just
As I feared. River is rising. Neighbor is watching my place. I gaave him m my boat key in case je needs it. He doesn't have his boat in the water.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol...
hope all stays well with the river. Seems to be a lot of that going around the globe lately.

But.... we all know climate change is a hoax... right...

My fingers are crossed for your boat and camp.

jan said...

Carol, we were watching the LSU Tigers play in the rain and I thought to myself, "I bet Carol is getting some rain." I wish I could say that we sent some your way. Why Not? Hope you are having a good Sunday.

I have been working hard on a grandson's t-shirt quilt. Should finish it this week sometime. when I do, I will take pics and post them here.

jan said...

I have thought about taking some Yoga or Tai Chi classes. People I know who do Yoga are the healthiest people I know.

Carol said...

Yes Jan, we caught a good rain. The river is down off the road now. Nice temp this morning, 67. HAPPY Autumn.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... it'd be nice to see some pictures here from you.... it's been a long time. I'd also love to see another pic of your little doggy.... he's so cute. I know people who do Yoga and I agree... they are the healthiest people I know too.

Carol... glad to see the river is receding. The trees in swamps and bogs are the first to change color up here. Yesterday morning on my way to a grocery store I went by a swamp... it was ablaze with fabulous color! This portends for a really beautiful fall this year. Last year was dull.

jan said...

I love this time of year. Really cool morning temps and warms into 70's and low 80's during the day. Perfect weather.

Carol said...

What do you fhink of DWTS this season girls?

jan said...

I am not too excited about it.

RebelliousRenee said...

I don't watch DWTS... but I do hope that those of you who do really enjoy it.

I also see that The Voice is starting up soon again. Hope y'all enjoy that as well.

jan said...

The TV star on DWTS who told about her break with the Church of Scientology is an interesting aside. It is in the news this morning.

I felt frightened for Valerie Harper on DWTS. I kept worrying that this was too much for her - with her cancer and age. Her partner became very emotional during their practice.

I hated to see the football player go home, but someone has to leave

jan said...

After saying "not too excited...DWTS" I had a lot to say. Hmmmm.

jan said...

The Voice is on at same time as DWTS and forgot to record Voice. We will watch tonight.

jan said...

At 9 pm we watched the new show with James Spader - the name of the show is escaping me- ha ha. It was so violent that I think we won't watch it again. Just cannot handle that level of violence any longer. James Spader plays a criminal who helps the FBI.

jan said...

If you guys watch anything that is interesting and funny, let us know here.

Carol said...

our taste of Fall didn't last long. It's 93+, feels like 111.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan....
that new program with James Spader is called Blacklist.
I like Spader and was thinking about watching it...
but like you, I'm really not into violent shows. Thanks for the warning... guess I'll pass on it now.

Carol.... too bad about the warmer temps. I'll try to send some of our fall weather your way.

Carol said...

Blacklist was too rough for me.

Carol said...

I ould be pleased to accept any cool weather sent my way.

Coreen, what do you think of the yank manager who is jumping ship?

Carol said...

The Gojdgbergs,a new sitcom on ABC tonight, looks like it will be funny .

jan said...

Yeh, Blacklist is off my list.

I too like James Spader. He was great in the lawyer show a couple of years ago with the star trek guy.

Thanks for the heads up on the Goldbergs Carol. I will check it out.

I found I sleep better when I watch something funny before bed.

Carol said...

Some of what I wrote is noto posting

Carol said...

I've been watching sENFELD AND Big Bang on TbS, SOME OLD MODERN fAMILIES ON usA AND gOLFBERG ON abc. tHAT SHOULD HAVE SOME HEALING INFLUNCE ON ME BUT IT'S NOT HELPING MY TYPING.

RebelliousRenee said...

Tomorrow night The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams starts... think I'll watch that. I read that he's being let loose to improvise as he goes along... should be interesting.
I'd also like to watch Junior Masterchef which starts this Friday. Ramsey & co. will obviously have to handle the kids a little bit differently than they do the adults.

Carol... I can always tell what you're trying to say.

RebelliousRenee said...

Oh yeah....
we just got back from going out to breakfast. When we turned to go down our driveway, there was a large cow moose standing there. Haven't seen one in couple of years. It's amazing how quickly this big animal vanishes into the woods.

Coreen said...

TV...forgot to watch DWTS the other night, & not sure who I liked the 1st night...

Did see the Blacklist...& yes it was pretty intense & violent...would not be surprised to
learn that they have to tone down the bloody scenes, actually surprised that they included those scenes, but since I like James Spader will hopefully remember to watch it again...another thing, it really made the fbi look incompetent, which also surprised me...but hey it's a tv show...

Coreen said...

Carol, don't know what your comment about a Yankee manager meant...as it is, I will likely not be watching BB after this weekend...

Coreen said...

Robin William's new comedy...keep wondering how they are getting away with the title...isn't some
group out there protesting that it is insensitive to crazies!...

Renee, forgot to mention that I was glad that Luca won the Master Chef...not sure about a kid version
though...

Coreen said...

And it has been another really good weather week...

Renee, in this morning's paper there is a pic of a moose that was
strolling around New Milford the other day...that's about 20 miles north...

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... that lawyer show was called Boston Legal. That Star Trek guy was William Shatner... also known as the Priceline guy. I loved Shatner's portrayal of Capt. Kirk... but I think his portrayal of bigshot lawyer Denny Crane was even better.

Coreen... protesting that it is insensitive to crazies... now that is PCism run amok! And me too... I love Luca... and he manages a restaurant in the same area of NYC where my sister lives.

jan said...

Loved Boston Legal. We were sorry when the show ended. It was one of best on TV at that time. Our favorite part was when Spader and Shatner had their cigars and booze at the end of the episodes. We liked the issues the show dealt with and both Spader's and Shatner's weaknesses with women and booze.

Carol said...

new Post.

MASy likely run adcross a mouse here but no moose.
