Carol... we have lots of hunters up here too. I've been told by family members that hunt that the deer are larger in northern climes and smaller from Pennsylvania on southward. They said it was because harsh winters kill off many deer, so there's fewer of them. Those that survive will have plenty to eat in spring, summer, and fall because there's less competition for food.... hence, they get bigger.
In more southern climes, the deer have no problem surviving winter. But their population numbers means there's more competition for food.... hence, they don't grow as much.
It makes sense to me. But it's nice to see your sense of humor shining through, Carol.
Renee, i'm trying hard to get back to my old wsys. I've zsked my companion to stop doing so much for me. they are enabling my uselessness. I need to resume my old routines, do for myself.
I did watch Robbin Williams and The Crazy Ones last night. It's been a long time since I've watched a half hour sitcom. It was ok. But it's hard to judge a tv show by only one viewing. I'm sure it will improve with time.... think I'll give it a chance.
Carol... I want to applaud you for seeing you have to try to do things on your own. Methinks it's just too easy for some caregivers to do stuff instead of patiently waiting for the one that needs help to do it. Rick has been struggling with this concept where it concerns his dad. He's getting better at seeing this fine line.
Hi Carol, did not mean to stay away. Several things going on and just neglected to check in here. I have been checking in.
I think it is great that you are wanting your helpers to do less and you want to do more for yourself. Take it easy. That is amazing and a great sign that you are getting better.
Do you know how tough it is to order people not to pick up after you, do your dishes and wash and fold you clothews? It's not easy. I just don't want to create more pathology to keep it coming. You realize there is secondary gain to medical issues.
Carol, we are watching 60 minutes. They are doing a program on severe mental illness. They are saying that the jails and the prisons are the new mental asylums. Something you have been saying.
jAN, TAKING CARE O THOSE INMATES IS NOT CHEAP. tHEY NEED MORE RESOURCES, PROPER PSYCHIC CARE AND THE DRUGS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. sTOP PUTTING ERVEY POT HEAD IN JAIL AND FHEY COUDL PAY FOR IT.
sEVEFRE MENTAL ILLNESS IS DIFFICULT TO CARE FOR AT HOME AND IN SOME INSTITUTIONS. They alreadey have those resources in jails and prisions. IT's often crime that brings the menally ill to the attention of the system.
Prisons in exchange for mental asylums.... we have Ronnie Reagan to thank for that.
Can't believe I'm up this early. We stayed up til midnight to watch our NE Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons. But we are having a new roof put on our house today. The crew said they'd be here bright and early.... and they are.
It's just a regular asphalt shingle roof. We bought 30 yr black shingles. We had our shed re-shingled last year... so this should be the last time we need to have anything done to a roof.
I have fairly new rooves on voth of my places. HOuse was chanaed after Rita, 2005. Half rhe camp also then and fthe ofhed half abvout a year afo. Feels good to know they are fairly new.
Carol.... had a fun time last night watching your NO Saints pound the crap outta the Miami Dolphins. Thanks Saints.... now my NE Patriots are in first place all alone this morning.
I'm thinking about starting the 'Breaking Bad' series that everyone has been talking about. They've got every season (except the last one, so far) on Netflix streaming. I've gone back to streaming only, because the DVDs aren't worth the money or trouble (mailing and returning) imo. Streaming is so cheap.
Contrary to the narrative that is being pushed non-stop by the media & their minions throughout the web world...honestly no one around here is kvetching about the govt shutdown...
I know they are trying to convince everyone that the world is about to end if those dastardly repubs don't give the dems what they want, but not seeing that sense of doom the media insist is happening anywhere around here (other than the media hand wringing stories) everyone seems to be going about their lives regardless of the antics of these politicians (both sides share the responsibility as does the president, all equally)...
But oh, in the meantime, it has been super beautiful weather (except yesterday was a bit humid & 80..a tad too warm to be considered spectacular) but for the most part absolutely delightful here...
Probably more a NY story, but now comes Mia Farrow with a hint that her son may be Frank Sinatra's son, not that loathsome creature Woody Allen's...(& yes even this is more entertaining then the whining about shutdown)..
Have to say the pics do seem to show a strong Sinatra resemblance, & absolutely nothing of ugly allen... Possible Sinatra/Farrow love child"
I've been following that Mia Farrow story myself. It even convinces me moreso that Allen is a manipulative creep.
What Mia Farrow has done with all those kids she brought up is a very uplifting story. Her family says she was nurturing from a very young age -- I just know I could never be as strong as she is (nor as rich, damn it!).
Agree with your take on the 'sense of doom', Coreen. Political drama and meant to manipulate (Allen isn't the only manipulative person in the world!). Life goes on.
More from the entertainment world...but only about those I like...Cher's new CD enters billboard chart at #3, great job for an 'old broad'!!...& just in case you don't know already...Cher is one of my fav performers... right up there with Diana Ross...
and saw her the other day on tv & she looks well fantastic...cosmetic surgery or not, who cares...if I wasn't such a big chicken, I'd try it myself...
Chloe, but what do you think of the resemblance?...I know Mia Farrow doesn't say he is Sinatra's, she just suggests it could have been...already the Allen supporters are suggesting that it absolutely can not be for various reasons (the time line supposedly would have been when allen/farrow were 'together' w/o any opportunity for her to be with Sinatra) & that Mia has an agenda of sheer hate for Allen...
I was taken aback by the resemblence in the eyes, Coreen. He looks very similar to Sinatra, but I'm sure there will never be any proof. Most importantly, it seems as though the son doesn't want it to be. He came out saying it wasn't true... last I read.
I never said anything, but the movie Blue Jasmine (although very well acted)seemed to me to be another real put-down on women. He made the character (played by the always perfect Cate Blanchett... in my opinion) looked like a back stabbing, unable-to-cope complete neurotic. I left the theater slight pissed because I was sure it was just another put-down on women in general... keeping in mind his history with Mia Farrow. Another slur by him against Mia Farrow in particular.
Cher does look unbelievable. Tony loves her and links her occasionally over at TM. Gives me a chance to hear her new music and to see her act. She looks so young... defies reality.
Just went back and looked again at the picture you linked, Coreen. The nose and mouth are the same too.
... ha, I figure he may have had his ears pinned back when he was young (?)... otherwise they're the same too. His mothers complexion and hair were evidently dominant, regardless of who the father was.
I thought Blue Jasmine was more a movie about putting down the rich. Jasmine's husband, dentist boss, and newly acquired boyfriend didn't exactly make men look good. The sister, Ginger, IMO, was portrayed as a "salt of the earth" good person.
Today is Rick and I's 38th anniversary. We will be going out to a swanky Italian restaurant for lunch to celebrate. Nothing says I love you quite like a good glass of wine, good bread with olive oil, and great pasta!
When we get home.... our beloved Red Sox will start their series against the Tampa Bay Rays.... GO RED SOX!!
Renee, happy anniversary to you & Rick...married 38 years is a big accomplishment these days... so congratulations to both of you for making it work...enjoy your Italian celebration...
Renee, Congratulations to you and your husband, Rick on your 38th anniversary. Italian sounds great. I too love a glass of wine and bread with olive oil and seasonings. My favorite is chicken marsala with a good pasta. Have fun.
Carol, I will find a pic of Ryley here. and put it up on a new post. I keep meaning to go out and get some pics. Balloon fiesta is starting so look for pics in a few days.

Carol...
the accent... ROFL!
Your deer are beautiful... but they look like they're smaller than the deer around here.
Coreen , I was talking about Girardi going to chicago
Coreen would swear that her deer don't have an accent.
Renee, the deer can't carry around much weight in this heat.
And they want to be a smaller target. Lots of hunters.
What...of course we have no accent here!...
And glad you finally admit you guys do!...
Modern Family tonight Jan.

I think my peeps are just trying to make all that I am paying for the service worth while. It is very expensive, almost as
Much as a NH costs.

Couple of new
Friends.

I meant to say I have been looking in but not writing anything.
I wanted to watch The crazy ones, but had 2 other shows at same time, one John wanted and the other I wanted, so Robin Williams lost out.
Big bang Theory has new shows. they were very funny. Modern Family also funny. Nothing else too great. We are watching The Voice and X Factor.
Do you know how tough it is to order people not to pick up after you, do your dishes and wash and fold you clothews? It's not easy. I just don't want to create more pathology to keep it coming. You realize there is secondary gain to medical issues.
Thanks for checking in Jan.
My great godchild was born this morning. Her name is Audrey Marie. Leaving in few minutes to go see her at the hospital.... yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaw!
Congrats on godcild Renee.
Renee, Congratulations on your great Godchild. How lovely. Enjoy her!
I had a goal of finishing a t-shirt quilt for grandson this weekend. Am not going to make it. Oh well!
Hope you all are doing ok.
Awfully tired. Off to bed.
John has been watching football all day.

Carol, I read in yesterday's paper about a guy shooting a minister during church yesterday in Lake Charles. It was not a large church.
Carol, are you watching The Voice this season?
I heard that on the newws ALSO Jan. MAY have been A NAUGHTY WIFE INVOLVED.
ONLY WATCHED THE VOIVE once. miss Shakira and USHER.
I liked Shakira and the other guy too. I like the Voice.
The government is shut down.... blah, blah, blah...
It's your fault.... no, it's your fault.... blah, blah, blah.
what the media says.... BLAH,BLAH,BLAH...
it's like watching a bunch of 5 yr olds reporting on a battle between a bunch of 3 yr olds. It might be time for me to take a new break.
"... it's like watching a bunch of 5 yr olds reporting on a battle between a bunch of 3 yr olds"
Hilarious, Renee!!
Your entire comment says it all!!
Carol, Hope to hear how things are going.

You too, Jan. I hope everyone is doing well!

I've always loved his movie, but always kept in mind that his neuroticism is what made them so funny. It's hard now to enjoy his work.
Carol,Have you seen the movie? I know Renee saw it and liked it. I have to admit, it's well done... just didn't like the premise.
I'm glad Mia brought this out in the media again.
