Travels in NM

Well, time to leave memory lane and see some more current pictures.

Actually, the last 2 pics were taken in OK & TX

jan said...

2nd and 4th in OK. I picked out some other pics and then got them confused

jan said...

The first pic is the mountain that Georgia O'Keefe painted several times. She said in one of the bios I read that God told her if she painted it often enough, he would give it to her.

jan said...

Many people rave about the sunsets in NM but the ones in Ok are amazing too.

jan said...

Nothing can compete with God when it comes to beauty.

jan said...

That is it for me folks. I must get some stuff done. My Sunday will be over soon and time to go back to work.

Carol said...

Did I touch off a little manic episode with my going down memory lane Jan? OK by me.

Great pics. I wish I could see them after I start commenting. I can on my iPhone but don't use it unless I have to.

Carol said...

I'm watching the Excorist. It doesn't scare me this time. I did the last time I saw it, right after it came out. I read the book when I was working in CCU so that had to be between 72-74. That scared me so much that I slept with a night light on for years. I saw the movie when I was visiting big sis in Little Rock. That night I slept in a tundle bed with my little neice. In the middle of the night, she sat up straight in her bed and scared me.She must have had a bad dream. No, see didn't see the movie. I don't think even my big sis did. I went with her husband.

Carol said...

We had a Catholic chaplain who worked in ICU and we used to discuss exorcism. He certainly believed in it. I enjoyed all the chaplains who I've worked with over the years.

Carol said...

I had a special relationship with all of them and they knew that I wasn't "religious". We did discuss life.

RebelliousRenee said...

Jan... really beautiful pictures.

Coreen... sorry to hear about Curtis... it sucks to lose one of your top players on your team. Here's to sports greatest rivalry having a good one this upcoming season.

oh yeah... my beloved Bruins won 4-1... yeah.

Carol said...

How do things look for the Red Socks this upcoming season Renee?

Carol said...

Jane Fonda looked fab tonight. She's 75.

RebelliousRenee said...

I'm really not sure about the Red Sox, Carol. They finished last in their division last year. It was the worst season since sometime in the early 60s.

But hey.... they have no where else to look but up. And they do have some new players and a new manager. Hope springs eternal and I will watch them.

Carol said...

I need to go make my a salad. Maggie is in my lap because she heard thunder.

Carol said...

Didn't recognize Don Johnson.

jan said...

A lot of things can touch of a manic episode Carol. Usually it is work or knowing I need to get ready to go to work. Just staying home on sunday and talking on here does not do it.

I enjoyed the little trip we took. I posted it on FB. John had never seen the pic and did not recognize me without the ID I gave.

jan said...

We have leftover spaghetti. Does not really appeal to me tonight, but do not want to make the effort to do anything else.

jan said...

Carol, you asked earlier about my putting the artichoke hearts in the sauce. I had a can of them and thought I would try it out. They were marinated ones. I thought it was pretty good. So did John.

Carol said...

Piers is interviewing stars on CNN.

jan said...

I took those 2 pics of the sunset in Weatherford OK. It is in the panhandle of OK. It is an appropriate name for the town. Every time we have stayed there, we have had some kind of bad weather. Mayne I should not call it bad. It is always interesting. The sky is always amazing there.

Carol said...

He's done now. I guess it moves to ABC now.

Carol said...

Those were great pics.

Carol said...

I think I only saw one pic that's up tonight and that was Southern Wild. Wish I hadn't seen that one. I do want to see most of the others.

Carol said...

Who is that squeaky woman on ABC. Haven't seen her face close yet.

Carol said...

Craig is doing his chat room. I find that when he does that, I can't do anything else but try to read it. It's too busy. I wish he would just do the regular blogging comments.

Carol said...

Nice dress Stacy Keibler.

Carol said...

I'm not that crazy about Seth.

Carol said...

Yet...

jan said...

The cast from Les Mis is singing. Got goose bumps. Loved the music. Must get the CD.

Carol said...

You must be getting this the same time we are Jan.

jan said...

Musicals have always been my favorite. So glad they are back after so many years. After seeing a musical I always leave the theatre singing - for days.

jan said...

When I was a kid and teenager, I sang in churh and school in choras and at events in the towns where I lived. . Now I sing to myself. I even have dreams of singing.

jan said...

Love the gowns.

jan said...

Who is Seth? I don't remember him from anything.

jan said...

How did they do this Ted?

jan said...

I missed what Les Mis is getting this award for.

jan said...

OK , sound mixing.

Carol said...

He did Family Guy and Ted. He's a screenwriter, animator, voice actor.

jan said...

Have you ever seen so much long hair on men?

jan said...

interesting. Thanks Carol.

jan said...

I just looked up Seth M. on Google. I am impressed. He did the voice and motion for Ted. My son, Steve, loves Family Guy and all those animated shows. I never watch them. I am very impressed with all that Seth has done.

jan said...

Is there anything this Seth cannot do? He sings (well), dances, writes, directs, etc.

Carol said...

Seth seemed to start a little slow but it got much better. He seemed a little nervous at first.

Carol said...

I love Adele.

Carol said...

I also love her attitude.

Carol said...

Check out Jane Fonda. I saw her earlier and she looked hot. Really liked her dress also.

Coreen said...

Looks like the women are saving the show...

Adele was great...

Jennifer Hudson was outstanding...

And still to come Barbra scheduled to sing the way we were
after the in memoriam...

Coreen said...

Looks like the women are saving the show...

Adele was great...

Jennifer Hudson was outstanding...

And still to come Barbra scheduled to sing the way we were
after the in memoriam...

jan said...

I too love Adelle. She has an amazing voice and I love to watch her when she sings. A unique style and a real beauty. She is the closest to looking like Marilyn Monroe that I have seen.

jan said...

I have not seen Jane Fonda yet.

Carol said...

Coreen, we could save the world if they just let us.

jan said...

Love Jennifer Hudson too.

jan said...

Hi Coreen. Looking forward to Barbra. No other voice like hers.

jan said...

Carol. As I am listening to Barbra sing, I am thinking that -this is what we were talking about today - The way we were.

Coreen said...

That does it for me...that woman is an immortal...

Coreen said...

Here's the Rex Reed comment about Adele that Macfarlane just made a joke at, though not sure who would know (saw it on the NYPost twitter feed)..."Adele, the brontosaurus-sized songstress from a country mainly noted for disgusting organ-meat pies"--Rex Reed's review"

jan said...

Adelle got the award for best original song.

Good for her!

I have to say, the one in Life of Pi was gorgeous. This was a beautiful movie.

jan said...

Men always have these disgusting things to say about large women. Hope they all have tiny penises that shrink up to nothing.

jan said...

Well that got me riled up, didn't it? LOL

jan said...

I loved Moonrise Kingdom.

jan said...

Here is Jane Fonda. Wow! she does look great.

jan said...

OMG - Best picture went to Life of Pi. I think that is an upset.

jan said...

Am happy about it. What a beautiful movie.

Coreen said...

Wasn't looking to get you going...just that the 'humor' of these shows is so 'insider' at times...

Reed also called Melissa Mccarthy (Molly) a hippo (among other slams) reviewing her movie identity thief

Coreen said...

I think it was for best director Jan...

jan said...

so wrong. Last was for best director. My bad.

Coreen said...

And Jane Fonda...wow...if only I could look that good now!!!....

jan said...

Why in this culture do we have to be concerned with appearance, especially size.

jan said...

Jennifer Lawrence won for best actress. Whoops she fell. Not a surprise. She has won almost every award recently for her role in SLP.

jan said...

Her dress could hold a small town under there.

jan said...

Daniel Day Lewis - yes!

Coreen said...

Good for Ben Afleck...they snubbed him for best director nomination...

jan said...

Want to see Argo. It was one we missed seeing. Good for Ben Affleck.

jan said...

Most of the nominated movies got something.

jan said...

I enjoyed it.

Coreen said...

And that was a most heartfelt acceptance....good way to say goodnight...

but there is still the e channel after show...

& cute kristin chenewith gets to close w/seth...

Carol, she is a broadway actress & I remember her from when she was on fraiser...

Carol said...

Her speaking voice is a little irritating.

Carol said...

Didn't know that Seth could sing so well.

jan said...

Snowing here. I 40 is closed both directions for most of Northestern and Central NM. Glad we are home.

jan said...

Taping Jimmy Kimmel show. Several of the stars will be there.

jan said...

Bad night in NM. All drivers warned to stay off roads in Santa Fe and other parts of state too.

Carol said...

I'm glad you are home too.

Carol said...

Jan, I did so enjoy the summer of 71 and reminiscing about it yesterday. It was our St Elmo's Fire summer. It was a good escape from home where daddy was dying. It took him 8 long years to die and he did that inch by inch. That was brutal to endure. It was just me and mom at home. Twin had moved up to live with big sis and left me there, not like she'd have been a big help. I was working and going to college and coming home to a nightmare.

You could have been with us with everything we did that summer and I forgot that you weren't in on some of that stuff and trust me, that underwear thing did happen. You kept yourself apart from us. I wasn't interested in either of the guys we had there except as friends. Arthur, married and not my type and Leslie, too religious and Baptist at that. I think of Baptist and too religious as redundant. And the religious was mainly when someone else from their church was watching, like lock the liquer cabinet, someone from the church is coming over.

Catholic, around these parts was a very compatable religion. Probably most of the priests were alcoholics. Methodist, it could go either way. Baptist, they put on an air of being goody two shoes but it didn't fool me.

Leslie was a cool Baptist. He didn't judge us but then we were taught in nursing school not to judge others. Church should have taught us that but so many were hypocritical there so nursing school had to do it. I really think that you can't teach that. We all have to come to that on our own. Sometimes life experiences teach it to us, sometimes that doesn't even work.

I've seen several families, that are really prejudice, end up with a black baby in the family. Interesting development. Most often that smacks them into changing their ways. Sadly, sometimes it doesn't. It's like old Cheney and his gay daughter. It did change him there. Only good thing that I can think of about him is that he loves and accepts his daughter. You know there has got to be some good in that old codger.

Carol said...

You guys are all welcome to share your St Elmo's Fire summer here also. I know you all had them. I can see Coreen, riding in her period auto, having a more than few of them.

Carol said...

How much snow did ya get Jan? Can you still get out to go to work? Maybe it's too slippery out to go.
That would be nice.

Carol said...

Your town may be better prepared for that. Here, even a hint of the white stuff would close down everything.

Carol said...

The other night, I woke up to a special on AC360 about that Pistoris guy. It was interesting. I learned that his girlfriend was in a little toilet room within his bathroom, with the door locked when he shot through it. He had to break down that door to get to her to try and resuscitate her. That's kinda telling. Why would she feel the need to lock that door unless she feared him??

Carol said...

Something just doesn't sit well with me about that car race yesterday. Danica was 3rd when the final lap started and she ended up finishing 8th. I'd be grilling her about that. Why??? Did she chicken out? Was she trapped out? I believe she had the car to do it. It's a good ole boy sport. Did she think it just wasn't her time? Did someone else think it that. Sports certainly aren't above being manipulated.

Carol said...

Renee, I have a feeling that your Sox will have a better showing this year...just a feeling.

Carol said...

I thought it was neat that Michelle O presented the last award last night. I really like her.

Carol said...

Oh, I didn't care for Anne Hathaway's dress last night. It just had the appearance of something I could have made in home ec years ago.

Carol said...

I really like Seth and I was very impressed with ALL his talents but I think that his part was a little too long and then that cut off time for those winners to give their proper thank yous. This award show is really is all about those who win those awards, not a variety show.

Carol said...

They could have called it the Seth McFarlane Variety Show.

Coreen said...

So is the consensus post-Oscars that Seth Macfarlane wasn't a good choice to host it?...

Was surprised he was a good song/dance guy...as for his idea of humor...for the most part it seemed to fall flat to his audience...from the first boob song when the women in the audience were visibly annoyed...seemed as the show progressed & his humor stung those
in front of him, there were fewer
shots of the audience...there was a sense of squirming from them...guess you can't be 'meanspirited' to your audience
face to face...

Honestly know little about Seth M, don't watch any animated shows, but would think that the powers that be should have known what they were getting when they asked him...

Vaguely remember that he was a fav
of olberman way back when...before
olberman self destructed (for the umpteenth time)...

Does he get another invite?...

Said it last night...the women saved the show...

jan said...

If they ever watched some of those racy cartoons he has created, the people who asked him to host last night should have known what they were getting.

I thought the boob song was inappropriate. I saw several faces when he was doing that and they were not happy. I think it went downhill from there.

jan said...

Not that much snow this morning. One day last week, we had about 2-3 inches but last night was less - probably about an inch. I went walking this morning. The streets in my neighborhood were almost completely dry.

jan said...

Well, time to get ready for work.

RebelliousRenee said...

The Oscars has always been a variety show. Not your cup of tea.... no problem... that's what a remote is for... change the channel or turn off the tv.

As for the actresses being upset with the boob song.... ROFL! They do everything they can to show them off... who the hell are they kidding. And for all we know... their reaction was staged... after all, it is Hollywood.

With that said... I am a HUGE Seth McFarlane fan... he has no sacred cows... he makes fun of everything. IMO, his appearance in such a staid environment didn't work.

Carol said...

Funny thing Renee, I loved Tina and Any when they were hosts of the Golden Globes. I liked most of the others who did it before. Seth kinda hogged all the attention. He made it seem like it was all about him. IMO, he overdid it, and I still did want to see who got the awards so I didn't want to change the channel. If he wants his own show, he ought to go for that and you can watch that until the cows come home.

I also enjoyed when the stars were preforming, that was more related to the movies. It shouldn't be all about the host.

Carol said...

And like I said, I like Seth and some of his work that I have seen. I recently rented Ted and it was funny. I might watch him in his own variety show.

Carol said...

Seems like I wasn't alone in my opinion.

"Oscars fans have seen a lot over the years, but this may be the first time they've ever seen a host use the awards to audition for his own variety show."

http://www.freep.com/article/20130225/ENT01/130225003/Oscar-host-Seth-MacFarlane-worst-host

Carol said...

The other day I watched the Dr. Oz show. I'm cautious what I take from what he says. I check it all out to see if it is consistant with other info I've read.

He had on a dietition and they were discusing what vitamins we need and which supplements we should avoid. The info was consistant with other things I've heard and read. It is preferable to find your vitamins and minerals from foods. They said that too many people overdose on supplements. Some supplements have the opposite effect from what we take them for. We've discussed that here before.

They also covered just what and how much of certain foods that were needed to get your daily requirements of vitamins. With some vitamins, it's not as much as you may think.

Something they mentioned was that there was one supplement that we can't get enough of in food and it has been found to have significant health benefits. It's ubiquinol also known as Co-Q10. I had some in the past but can't remember when. Years ago I went to a pharm update. I was really impressed with the the PhD pharm guy and he talked about that supplement.

"Coenzyme Q10 is beneficial for heart health in many ways. It assists in maintaining the normal oxidative state of LDL cholesterol, helps assure circulatory health, and supports optimal functioning of the heart muscle. CoQ10 may also help support the health of vessel walls".

Dr Weil

I got some today.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... I'm not surprised that my opinion is different on anything to do with Hollywood. I don't watch the Golden Globes. I rarely watch the Oscars. I only tuned in this year because of Seth. And, yes, I agree he was a disappointment.

As I said over on TM, I really don't care who wins what.... but for those that do... go for it... enjoy it.

It's just my 2 cents and it's worth the same as anyone else's....

Carol said...

Thanks for adding your 2 cents. I hope you don't think I'm discouraging your opinions. I often don't really want to see many of the movies that get the awards. Seems that I remember that I didn't like that movie Chicago when many others did. I loved that little girl who was nominated but the movies was terribly depressing.

Carol said...

I'm talking about Beasts of the Southern Wild.

We frequently don't agree here about things. That's what makes it interesting for me.

Carol said...

I recently just started watching movies again. It's pretty new for me.

Carol said...

It would be a pretty dull world if we all agreed. Just wait for baseball season.

RebelliousRenee said...

Carol... I know you aren't discouraging my opinion. And I too love all the differences that are here.

Rick and I don't go to many movies. Living rurally, it's a bit of a drive to the nearest theater. Next week when were at our timeshare, there's a theater down the street. I googled what was playing there this morning.
If they're still there next week, we'll go see Silver Linings Playbook and Lincoln. We did see Chicago there when it was out. I thought it was ok... I really love Queen Latifah.

Carol said...

I do better being able to start and stop a movie, rewind if my mind wondered and it often does. I can get up for food or to use the bathroom. Sometimes, when a movie is really good, I want it to last forever. I want to savor it. I'll even pause it just to ponder it for a while. I'm not someone who most people would want to watch a movie with.

Carol said...

Those stars got a swag bag with $47,000+ contents in them. Most of them don't even need that stuff, they can easily afford any of it they want. The rest of us, who can't afford that stuff, just have to drool. Life ain't fair.

jan said...

I do like the Oscars. I think it is fun to see the gowns and hairdos and all that jazz.

I like to see the movies before Oscar's night so I can see if I agree with the decisions.

It seemed to me that there were not any movies who got so much as in past years. I like it that way.

I love the movies.

jan said...

I enjoyed Seth M. but did not like the boob song. I thought it was too much. I honestly wish they would not show so much skin. That is probably due to my older age. At one time I probably thought it was ok.

Carol said...

I was reading an article on Huff Post about Carl Jung. I'll borrow from the beginning and end of the article:

"More than anyone else in the 20th century, the psychologist Carl Gustav Jung is responsible for our wide, grassroots interest in what we can call "inner directed spirituality"

"We may not agree with everything he says, but that isn't important, and Jung himself always encouraged people to think for themselves. But by showing us how to look within, Jung introduced us to the most mysterious thing in the universe: ourselves."

Well, I'll add a little of the middle of the article also:

"Jung saw the unconscious mind as a kind of hidden treasure, not a basement or cellar where we hide away everything about ourselves we'd rather not face. For Jung, the unconscious was a positive, life-giving part of our psyche and we ignored it at our peril."

Now our Jan is exploring it from the dream standpoint. I just get quiet and try to give it room to ponder. I do most of my dreaming while awake.

Chloe, this might be right up your alley. You may want to make a pass this way.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gary-lachman/why-jung-is-important_b_2664409.html?utm_hp_ref=religion

Carol said...

And as for Coreen, she will say "Bah Humbug." Well, that's my guess.

Carol said...

Oh, and BTW, the Boob song is what defines Seth MacFarlane. Kinda hard not to like the boob song and like Seth. That's what makes his humor popular, that kind of stuff.

Carol said...

Now Coreen, you are falling down on your job here sister. There was an interesting article in one of the papers you represent to us here, NYT, about Seth's hosting the Oscars.

Seems that people only noticed what offended them. Older women, the boob song. Some of the younger women, it didn't bother. Evidently there were things that insulted the Jews, the Gays and things that were racially inappropriate but we really didn't notice that or maybe thought they were funny. We're only sensitive when it's personal.

Viewership was up this year but that could be because of the movies that were involved. It did seem like there were more amazing movies included this year but I just don't have the experience with movie watching to make that judgment. Some of you guys here, do.

Maybe some of the viewers, weren't into the movies but were into Seth, like Renee. Who will ever know. Of course they will tell us what to think anyway, whether they know or not.

And for people to continue to talk about it....is a good thing for them.

Carol said...

What I wrote above wasn't quotes from the article but my ideas inspired by what I read in the article. If you want to know what the article said, go to my link above and read it. You may have a different opinion.

Carol said...

MAKERS: Women Who Make America primeres tonight on PBS. If you ever had any estrogen on board, it's required viewing. I'll leave that up to your conscience. Maybe, you're a closet subservient. I doubt it though.

"tells the remarkable story of the most sweeping social revolution in American history, as women have asserted their rights to a full and fair share of political power, economic opportunity, and personal autonomy".

It's a 3 hour show but like so much on PBS, it can be watched online, at your leisure.

RebelliousRenee said...

Hey Chloe....
If you and Glen go to the Woodlands this week, you might see a bunch people there who are having a conference. It's the networking specialists from around the world who work for HP. Rick took an early retirement package and has been retired since Sept.
But if he was still working, he'd be there this week too.

Every time he flew off to one of his conferences there, I always thought of you.

Unknown said...

"And maybe we can’t leave it up to what each individual thinks is convenient. Too many people live by the philosophy that…shit happens."

I just copied this over at TM. I didn't feel well over the weekend, so I missed your sermon.

I remember that is exactly what you accused me of thinking: shit happens.

I can't do this anymore. So please don't even say my name here. I can't take it.

Carol said...

I wasn't even thinking of you,----. It's a common thought, that is shared by millions of people. It wasn't directed to you, believe it or not. But your actions here don't surprise me, it was just a matter of time.

Carol said...

I will continue to express my thoughts and opinions about gun control. It's a very important issue to me. It's an important issue for the safety and well being of our children. I won't be intimidated by anyone to shut up.

Coreen said...

Hey, That's what happens when you are up all night!...You run across little bits & pieces...I don't get the papers til the morning...

Still think the unease was the audience response to
the digs by Macfarlane...like I said, meanspirited banter doesn't play so well when you are the target...but's it is ok when it is
'the other guy'...

All that matters as appears to be the case is the viewing audience was bigger than the year before!...

Will be curious to see if he gets invited back...

Carol said...

Coreen, I think that could also be because the movies up were sooo good this year. There was some tough competition this year. Seth may have drawn some of his fans also.

Coreen said...

Hey guys, time out, what just happened here...

Chloe, I don't speak for Carol ever, (& its pretty clear from our 'discussions' that more often than not, we do not agree) but honestly don't think that the comment at TM was directed at anyone specifically & you in particular...

Coreen said...

And so you don't get to full of yourself this a.m., here's what I did see that I thought would be of interest to you...

You missed it!...
The Owl comes into its own

Coreen said...

And more since you are now into PBS offerings...& to fill in til Downton comes back, maybe this brit series "Parade's End" will hold your interest (though it sounds like this is the total opposite of DA)
Not the same old British cup of tea

Carol said...

You're just trying to suck up because you missed that other story. It worked. I love my owls and that's a neat article.

"The scientists also discovered that barn owls express their needs and desires to each other through a complex, rule-based series of calls, trills, barks and hoots, a language the researchers are now seeking to decipher."

When they do decipher some of the owl language, I want to know about it. They chatter out here all night. I'd like to know what they are saying. They may have a warning or some good advice for me.

Carol said...

You should also link that article on TM. Jamie seems to be a big fan also. It's her avatar.

Carol said...

As for the other cable drama, I don't have HBO. I have enough that I don't watch.

Coreen said...

Forgot you don't have hbo...

Did you watch the owl video? (next to the article) there was a beautiful white one, but then my computer froze, will try it again later...

One of the reasons I find the passing of the 'newspaper' to be sad...there is no way to get all the offerings print has from trying to 'read' a newspaper on the net...same with reading books...while I love my kindles, a book is still a unique commodity...

Carol said...

Coreen, even though I don't often read newspapers because they stack up here and then I'm stuck with stuff I feel I should recycle and I don't have easy access to the neat ones that you do, I think there is more investigative journalism in them. The loss of those newspapers is a loss for all of us.

Carol said...

I really do appreciate your sharing what you find in NYT. I've gone to their website many time before but there's so much to go through.

Coreen said...

And before I forget, back to Seth M...

Renee, I thought he had a good voice...& was smooth in the little dance routine...like a Fred Astaire or Gene Barry (now who would know those guys but some of us here!)...
read that he put out an album...have you by chance heard any of it...

RebelliousRenee said...

Whoa... Chloe... unless you are specifically addressed, I think Carol should be able to express her opinions without you or anyone else taking it personally. Once again.... I hope you feel better soon.

We hear owls all the time here. But the woods are too thick... and the owls blend in... we rarely see them.

Coreen... no, I haven't heard that Seth put out an album. I was surprised at how good his voice sounds. And I haven't seen his movie, Ted, yet. Gotta correct that soon.

Carol said...

Yep, Coreen and I don't agree on much but I love her anyway. She's my alter ego. LOL. We don't even agree on what stocks we like. She's an Apple kind of girl and I'm a Bristol-Myers Squibb kind of girl. Apple is too rich for my blood(439.50) and pocketbook. Bristol is 36.40, just my good.

Trust me, I wasn't referring to _____. I was having a little discussion with Flatus. You can go to TM and see for yourselves. I made a little suggestion about making people responsible for any destruction caused by their firearms and he responded that it wouldn't fly with him. He said that in order for a home weapon to be of any value to him, it must be readily available. I suggested that that would be dangerous if there were kids in the house or some visiting. Then I said that we might not be able to come up with a law that everyone would sign on to. The shit happens comment was directed to many people in our society. Maybe more people than not.

Carol said...

"Shit happens" is a fairly common expression, probably even on many T-shirts. No one owns that one.

Carol said...

I'm watching that storm move across the country. Renee, I put your neck of the woods on my Weather Underground that I monitor. I try to keep up with everyone's weather. Kinda helps me appreciate mine.

Carol said...

Coreen, that owl video won't play on my laptop. Maybe it will on my iPhone.

Carol said...

Nope, it wouldn't play there either.

I just looked over at Maggie and she was staring back at me with this...let's do something..look on her face. I have been doing something, she's the one that's just laying there. I think that she had something in the mind of maybe me taking her for a walk. Doesn't she realize that mama's joints don't operate when it's chilly outside.

Well, it's not that chilly, 58, but there's a wind chill and that's still chilly in my book. You guys would have on your shorts and flip flops. I have on a jacket.

When I went to Seattle every summer I wore a jacket the entire time. In the summer. Everyone else was in shorts. And that was before I got my hyperthyroidism fixed. My metobolism was in high gear the last time I went.

Carol... it's being forecasted that there will be another 6-7 inches of heavy wet snow in my neck of the woods tomorrow. We are supposed to be going out with friends to see a free re-enactment of Henry David Thoreau at a library about 20 miles away. It doesn't look like we'll make it.

And I want to say something else about the Oscars. I'm really glad I watched it. I forgot to put the performance of Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger on my list on TM yesterday.

Between Bassey's, Adele's, and Streisand's performances... it was well worth watching, IMO.

Hey girl, I know what your weather is doing. You're on my list. Let me know how it goes. I worry more about Coreen's weather than she does.

I'm sorry you're going to miss that talk. It sounds neat.

I did take the Magster for a short walk. If I'm outta the wind, with the sun shining down, it's not too bad but the joints are still creaky. It's this switching from hot to cold and hot again that really gets me. Yesterday, I needed to turn on the AC but wouldn't.

There's a lot of stairs out here and I go up and down them alot. I do take them slow and hang on to the rails because they have already taken out three vertebrae, one foot bone, one ankle bone and one hand bone. I don't have any more bones that I can give them.

Carol said...

I loved that music also.

I used to always be in a hurry, even when I didn't have to be. It took it's toll on me. Now, I've slowed down, no choice. I used to have a theme song..

I used to be a Type AAA personality. I tried to be late for a meeting once and was still there 20 minutes early.

Now I've moved into a Type S personality...slow!

Carol, you know I stay aware of the weather here...try to prepare...remember once a flake falls I'm on my way home, til it stops & is plowed....

The next weather front is supposed to be just rain for us starting tonite, with maybe some flakes/sleet, but changing to rain all day Wed. Hope they are right, I don't want anymore snow...

It's 40, damp, overcast...

Renee, I know you are in southern NH, & still cold enough for snow...

I have family in Keene NH...

RebelliousRenee said...

Coreen....
Keene is the western edge of what's called "The Monadnock Area"... I live in New Ipswich, which is the eastern edge of the same area.

It's about an hours drive .... if you come up here to see family... I'd love to meet you half way. Tell them you want to go to the famous ice cream stand called "Kimballs".... it'd be a blast to meet you.

ROFLMAO!!!

good one, Carol...

Did y'all remember that youtube I linked? Anyone here an Alabama fan? The group, not the state or the football team.

Hey Coreen, Apple was around 600 three months ago and is now 450. I bought my BSY at 34 and it's now 36.39. It's good to be too poor for the big stuff.

I was listening to someone the other day. I think it was on Colbert. This financial lady. She was saying that these stock market guys on TV recommend these stocks, people buy them and they go way up and then there's people out there shorting them and they drop like a rock. There's so many manipulating that little racket.

I once bought a stock that was recommended by one of those guys on a finance program. He said it was his IPO of the year. I got 100 shares for about 8 bucks a share. It was e-machines. They eventually ended up buying out all the shock at about a penny on the dollar. Tough lesson.

Coreen said...

Yes Carol, but my Apple was bought around $100, so its all good...

Coreen said...

Renee, will keep that in my memory bank...

Maybe when the brother (my cousin)
goes to visit his mom/sister when the weather changes I'll take a ride with him...pretty sure where they live is about 3 hr drive...

I'm kinda half ass listening to the Jodi Arias trial. She's guilty as sin but she's as smart if not smarter than the prosecutor. It's sadly amusing at times. She's cool and he's often a train wreck. I'm sure he's not seeing it that way.

Coreen said...

Don't know the group Alabama...the only song I remember is 'sweet home alabama' & don't remember who sings it...

Carol said...

It hit over 700 a while back. Shoulda sold and then bought back later.

Carol said...

Can you listen to that youtube?

Carol said...

It's country music.

I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.

Coreen said...

Why...then I'd have to pay more taxes!...

Yes, listened but in case you don't remember, not a fan of country music!...

I know country is big all over, but with few exceptions, around here, it just never catches on...country radio stations have always failed, they just brought another back into NYC after more than 15 years NASH94.7 fm

I had the same problem once. I bought 100 shares of this little pharm stock for 3 bucks a share. It went up to 200 and split. I was making a little more money in my job than I had been previously. I didn't want to sell out and have all those taxes to pay. I watched it drop to a little over a buck a share. Dumb ass me.

Bristol bought up that company so I guess I have it again.

Someone didn't like Michelle Obama's dress the other night, didn't catch who and didn't really care. Said it was too racy. I thought it was Wow.

Carol said...

Honey Boo is a hit in eastern Europe. Headed to Australia.

jan said...

Cannot believe someone thought Michelle Obama's dress was racy on Oscar night. It was sleeveless but if I remember correctly it did not show anything of her boobs.

Some of my super repub friends from OK have commented about her wearing sleeveless dresses. Good Grief!

Carol said...

If you have nice arms, show them off. What Century are we in??

Trying to catch up on my reading here.

Coreen, the series on HBO you mention sounds interesting. I don't get HBO either.

Chloe, if you are watching - sorry to hear you won't be back. I know you said not to mention your name - but did want to say this. I really don't know what the issue is but I hate to see people leave here.

Carol said...

And before I sign off with you Chloe, have a great birthday tomorrow!

jan said...

I love the group Alabama. I come from Oklahoma where country music is king but did not like country music much growing up. Many years ago happened to move to Montana. I worked for the State Dept of Health... (long name). I drove across the state several times. This was in 1970's and only had the radio for distraction on those lonesome drives. I could drive for 50 miles and never pass a car of gas station. Anyway, the only radio stations I could get played country music. I began to like it and now some of my favorite singers are country - like Willie Nelson.

jan said...

Chloe, hope it is a good birthday.

Carol said...

Did you listen to my x theme song Jan? I left the link to it.

jan said...

Carol, you mentioned Anne Hathaway's dress. When we saw her on the red carpet, I kept thinking that the top of her dress was see-through as I thought I could distinctly see her nipples. I remarked about that to John.

On a morning show, someone else mentioned the same thing.

Apparently, it is ok to show one's breasts on TV as long as the nipples do not show. I think that is so interesting because guys have nipples too and nobody cares if their nipples show. Some things just don't make sense.

By the way, I prefer the word "breasts" to "boobs."

jan said...

One's breasts = women's breasts.

jan said...

However if women's nipples show through their clothing, that is ok.

jan said...

Carol, where is your x theme song?

jan said...

I have some investments but in mutual funds. Years ago I invested in some specific stocks and lost a bit of money.

Carol said...

Here's the song again Jan: cut and paste
