Memories from the past

I've put together a few memories from the past to hold us over until a new post is ready.

Weeds in the yards.  Took that the other day.
Pool uncovered.  Nope not this year.
Mag and I riding in a pontoon
Cows out on our farm.  Took that when sis and I visited out there the other day.

Coreen asked me to get that snake pic off. I told her that she had to put up some pics she had to get rid of it.

This is only temporary..until someone had something ready. I just didn't want to get to 200.

COREEN put your pics up now!

Carol said...

I have my ways of strong arming. You do know that I've learned how to do that from the very best.

Carol said...

Coreen..the woman without the makeup is pretty scary too.

Carol said...

Took the snake pic down.

Carol said...

Blogger was down for a period but it's back.

Coreen said...

Fantastic...there's enough reptiles
around the web, we don't need any
here!!!...

I like the cows...can't make the pic large enough to get a good look, but it looks like they were all looking at you when you took the pic...

Who's cows are they...Are they at
your mom's or pa's land...

Can you get a closeup!!!....

Is that sis looking towards the camera?...

Carol said...

Can't make the cow pics bigger. That the land that belongs to me and sisters. They're Pa's cows. He doesn't have enough of his own property to support all his cows. I didn't look thru all of them but there could be some of my cows. They were supposed to sell all of mine but I saw some that might have been mine after that was done.

That is Tomato Woman looking at ya. She would be pissed if she knew that pic was up. She has long hair and it's under that cap. The pic doesn't do her justice. But she doesn't get online very often. If she does..I'll hear about it.

Hey..I put up a pic of me without makeup. Maggie didn't have hers on either.

Sis has her back to you in that pic. I had a pic of both of them but they were in the shadows.

Carol said...

Coreen..cows are very curious. They were watching to see what I was up to. They had one hoof pointed away..ready to run..the other way. They are also very dumb. They did end up running off.

Carol said...

I'm fixing to head out for my mission. Pray for me. This mission does involve violence and race. I don't want a Trayvon situation here. I'm trying to prevent one. The unstable white guy.. in the situation.. does own guns.

Carol said...

Craig did it again. I posted something on TM and pop goes a new thread. I'm sure it's just coincidence. Is it??

jan said...

Back in the motel room for a few minutes before going on to the next business appt.

Love your stories on the other post Carol. You are great at telling adventures about you and your peeps.

Coreen said...

Is this karma....

Keith Olberman fired from Current...

Here's his statment about the firing...Ouch...

Now tell me...who does the left side with Olbermann or Gore!!...
Olberman to file against Current TV

Carol said...

Without even knowing the details yet..I'm siding with Gore!

Carol said...

O man has delusions of grandeur.

Coreen said...

And Eliot Spitzer will be replacing him...

Coreen said...

Did the journey go ok....

Carol said...

Well Coreen..it wasn't a walk in the park. I'll be sending an email later..when I get the energy to talk about it.

Carol said...

Did you appreciate me removing the
S----? That's the second time I had to remove that S----.

Coreen said...

Yes, I said fantastic way back...
And lets just please leave all
s....s anywhere else, but here...

Glad to know you are back w/o any
damage....

Carol said...

Coreen..the snake is a phallic symbol. Do you have problems with phallic symbols? Maybe Jan can help you.

Carol said...

Drove out to the camp. Only one place with water still across the road. I'm back at the house. Have too much to do here and I'm having fun here.

Coreen said...

well only to those who give credence to psych stuff...and you know i'm sure not one who does...

to some a snake is just a snake....hate them...end of story

Carol said...

Coreen..I was going to try to get closer to the cows to take my pic but then I thought...I can't run. I'm still crippled. Just in case there was some psychotic cow out there..not likely..I'd be a sitting duck.

Cows usually are way more afraid of humans than we are of them. That's not the case when they're penned up. They can be quite dangerous then. I've done my fair share of running and jumping the fence when a cow came after me in a pen. I used to be real good at doing both.

I'm sure I've told you a few cow chasing me stories.

Carol said...

As Tony likes to say...you funny Coreen.

Carol said...

You know how I love to tell my stories. I usually like it the most when I wake up in the middle of the night. Next time I'm up then..I repeat one of my cow chasing me stories. You can always page down if you remember it.

Carol said...

Coreen..I give a lot of credence to psych stuff..probably more than to anything else. I bet Jan does also.

I'm analyzing you all the time. Worried?

Coreen said...

Knock you socks off....

Remember, my rules to live by...

what you see is what you get &

only the strong survive...

Carol said...

That part was easy Coreen. I'm going for the deeper stuff. Care to tell us about your dreams? Jan will work on that.

jan said...

Hi , back from the lawyers and accountants and Lamar sign people. It has been a busy 2 days. Also took dinner to my sis tonight. Will not see her again for a few months too. I get a little "blue" when I leave her and know won't see her for a while.

It was a good day.

jan said...

some are not into the psych stuff and that is fine.

Psyc has always fascinated me. I like to delve into the psyche- usually my own. I like to understand why people do what they do. My dad thought it was hocus pocus.

Carol said...

Jan..I like to delve into my own psyche also but it's like a maze and I get lost.

Carol said...

What ya got on snakes and dreams Jan?

I don't think I told you this...didn't want to even acknowledge it myself. Several nights before sis left..I stepped out onto my highest deck..outside my living room and saw a shadow of something moving on the deck.

In my older age it seems that I see things in my peripheral vision at times. Things that really aren't there. Just some quick movement so at first I wasn't concerned. Then I realized that it WAS something moving..it was a nice size snake. It was hauling ass..if they have one..away from me. I jumped..screamed and quickly went back into the house.

It was a very windy day and I assume it was a snake that was up in the tree above the deck. Probably looking for bird eggs. The wind probably blew it down. It was too dark to identify it. I haven't been out on that deck again after dark. That deck is not very well lite at night..actually not lite at all.

I very rarely see a snake but it seems that every time sis is here..some weird snake thing..a once in a lifetime kind of thing..occurs. Do you think there is any meaning to that?

You must remember the snake that jumped on my sis in my pool that time. In all the years I've had the pool..I might have had two snakes in the pool.

jan said...

Carol, I have no idea why snakes keep showing up when your sis is there or has been there.

Dreams about snakes OK could be phallic symbols. Snakes are thought of as healing images. Moses took a snake - he put it on top of a staff - It is the medical symbol - the bite of the snake heals or the wound from the bite of the snake heals you.

jan said...

snakes in nature have positive rather than negative value. They kill rodents. They provide a balance in nature.

jan said...

Carol, you are a healer, maybe that is why they are showing up around you.

jan said...

Carl Jung says dreams about snakes mean healing some kind of healing is going

jan said...

I am uneasy around snakes too.

jan said...

My granddaughter's husband had a boa constrictor for years. It got to be about 8 feet long. They had a huge cage for it and had to keep belts around the cage to keep it inside (had holes on top for oxygen). I had a hard time going there to visit although it was kept in cage most of time. they had their baby and that scared me to death. Finally, they gave the snake away. I breathed a sigh of relief.

jan said...

Hope you can understand my last comments. I am too tired to try and correct. You get the drift I am sure.

Carol said...

But Jan..when is it that we are actually dreaming? Maybe we have parallel lives. Maybe the meaning of the dream is also the meaning of what we consider our wakefulness.

I do think there was a lot of healing going on with my sister's visit.

jan said...

Coreen, we saw an atty today and we are having him create each of us a trust. I will control my trust and john will control his trust. In the event of either of our deaths, the other will be in charge of both trusts until the last one's death and then his children will get his trust and my children will get mine. He gave us paperwork to collect the necessary information. He is a young guy who has taken care of several issues related to some property my dad left me and has done a good job and in a timely manner each time. I have come to trust him. While talking with him today, he told me his sister just finished her masters in nursing and is going to teach - and is planning on getting her doctorate in nursing.

Carol said...

Did your attorney explain the benefit of creating a trust instead of just having a will?

jan said...

Carol, there is a lot to what you just. There is a thing called "lucid" dreaming in which a person is actually awake but there is dreaming or some kind of information coming from the unconscious.

You must be watching that new show -called Awake - which is about what you are saying about "parallel lives."

It is very special when we have those "healing" visits with people we care about.

jan said...

No he did not really explain the difference. But, John and I feel this is what works the best for our situation. It does cost more "up front" but will save the surviving spouse and our children some problems.

Carol said...

Never heard of that show Jan. I have just pondered that before. And your dream interpretation did seem to meet with the reality of our visit.

Carol said...

That old doc I worked for kept snakes in a glass cage in his office. I was grossed out. It was a king snake. His sleazy secretary would bring it mice.

Those little mice were so cute. I had mice when I was a kid. Once..I saw a little mouse in the snake cage..looking very fearful. I could just imagine how it felt. When no one was looking..I rescued the mouse and set it free outside.

Another time...the mouse tore into the snake. Karma. Doc had to suture it up. I had to help. He asked which I preferred..suturing or holding. Of course I said suturing.

Carol said...

If I had been a little braver..I would have also set the snake free. King snakes are good snakes. They eat bad snakes.

I guess we won't hear from Coreen for a while now. Sorry Coreen.

Carol said...

It's all out of my system Coreen. I'll shut up about them now. But remember what Jan said..they represent healing..and I'm a healer. I can even look at them in a better light now.

Carol said...

Coreen..what do you think about Keith O? He is a sharp as a tack. When I agreed with him..I loved him but when I didn't..I disliked him. I only rarely watched him on Current.

He was a little on the misogynist side.

Maybe he ought to go back to sports..not as much controversy. These days..maybe there is.

Carol said...

I'm working on my taxes this weekend. Late but I just rescued them from the camp. Sis had everything in file folders and that file that I brought with me. Only thing is that she kept all my tax stuff in this plastic container that I was throwing them in. I forgot to bring that with me when I evacuated.

Carol said...

I have a long list of stuff I have to do this weekend. That's why I'm sitting here. Crazy.

jan said...

Carol, you need to watch, at least once, that new series called "Awake" It i about a man who had an auto accident and his wife and young son were in the car with him. During the day, when he is awake his wife survived and she is with him and during the night -in his dreams, it was his son who survived and is with him _ or maybe its the other way around. He does not know which one is real. He is a police detective. An interesting show. I have only watched it once - just too much going on to watch much TV. It does sound a lot like what you were describing as parallel universes.

jan said...

We have stopped in Amarillo for the night. In the morning, only 4 hours and we will be home. You might think - why don't you just drive 4 more hours tonight. It is John. He will only drive 7-8 hours each day - no more. That is his limit. Even if I drive some of that.

Carol said...

Hmmm..the comment box has moved to the bottom of the page. That does make more sense since I always had to page down to see if my comment made it or if any other comments came thru.

Carol said...

I got quite a bit done today. Bank..Wally World but still forgot some things. Well..that gives me an excuse to go back tomorrow.

I worked out in the yard. I created this yard over many years..years when I was much younger..had more energy..and had hyperthyroidism. Now it's way too much for me.

I never wanted to use Roundup..the herbicide. Didn't think it was safe but now it's a must. Without it..I would have miles of weedeating. It's almost too much to walk around and put out the Roundup.

One year I hired a friend of a friend to come weedeat. It took him a week..he charged me over 300 bucks and he left stuff all over the yard and didn't finish the job.

After the Roundup kicks in..I can almost do everything with just the mower.

Carol said...

Oh..and I let that friend of a friend..who charged me 3oo bucks.. use my weedwhacker..the one that cuts down small trees. He made quite a few holes in the siding on my house. Never asked him to come back.

Carol said...

There's nada on the 4 Networks I get here at the house..without a satellite.. tonight.

jan said...

Carol, sorry you don't have any networks - I guess that means no TV. Just got back from the movie. We saw "mirror, Mirror" with all the moms and their kids. It was entertaining. Did not have to think too much. Looking forward to being home tomorrow. We should be home by noon. Then unpack, do some laundry, etc.

jan said...

Ok, just read your last comment - nada on the 4 networks - I get it. That is why we went to a movie. There is nada on sat nights that we like. We walked to the movie and walked home. About a mile in all so we got a little exercise too.

Carol said...

The temp on my outside thermometer said 88. It is still March..isn't it?

Carol said...

I'm watching 20/20 on ABC. There's a story about this 11 year old with Schizophrenia..and dangerous. That must be devastating for a family.

Carol said...

Wishing you a nice trip home Jan.

There's no place like home.

There's no place like home.

Carol said...

I've decided to forego my trip to you know where this morning. I'm worried that there may be a war going on and I don't want to be in the middle of it. I have a long weekend next week. Whoopee.

jan said...

So happy to be home. An uneventful last 300 miles except the wind is really blowing on NM/TX border. Wind not so bad here.

Carol said...

Welcome home Jan. I've been over at TM... irritating them. That is..when I'm resting up from yard work. I'm enjoying my yard work.

Carol said...

Well..it's back to work for 3 whole days then 4 days off. That's how I like it. You can do anything for three days. Well..most anything.

I got a lot done yesterday. I finished up my taxes. I'll bring them in today..late. Maybe my CPA can still get them in before the deadline even though he wants them at least a month ahead of time. I couldn't do it earlier since some of the important stuff didn't evacuate with me.

They really aren't very complicated this year..not much in the way of deductions..darn it. Can't write off my cow business anymore. Still can write off pennies of my huge capital losses.

Carol said...

Beautiful farm land might have a new owner soon. Some independent contractor called me and wants an option to buy it. He will give us a sizable down payment and we need to give him 6 months to come up with the rest. He'selling some other property and wants our property to replace it.

If he walks away in 6 months.. we keep the down payment.

Carol said...

Do you have your dancing shoes out. I think we will be doing the rumba and the samba and the jive and the foxtrot and the salsa. I think that's it. Are you up to it?

Had a down pour today..just when I left work to bring my taxes in. I got stuck on the Interstate for almost an hour. A big 18 wheeler was blown over on it's side from the wind.

It's like my taxes don't want to go to the CPA for some reason. Something keeps getting in the way.

Oh..#2 poolman is out of jail. He will start getting everything back in order with the pool. He needs money bad so I'm making a deal for other stuff I need done..like blowing off the roof and cleaning out the little pool house.

I've been doing a lot of work but some things I can't do anymore. I was doing some tree pruning when poolman walked up.

I'm also going to let the guy do my mowing here when it gets really hot. I'll have to walk him all around the yard so he knows where the obstacles are. He'll be using my lawnmower.

Carol said...

You like that last song Coreen?

The dancer are good tonight.

Carol said...

Katherine has everyone crying.

Carol said...

Sheri's dance seemed like it was more Val's dance. He did most of the dancing.

Carol said...

It will be tough to bump someone off tonight.

Coreen said...

Catherine is just a fabulous dancer..& she is a beautiful woman
don't understand what she says...oh those accents!!!...but in 3 weeks she is just fantastic...

And then there is Maria Menounos?
who is dancing with Derek...she did
an absolutely haunting rumba, only saw her dance twice but she has all the right moves too...

The others so far have all danced
well, but those 2 stand out supremely...

Coreen said...

Don't know which song you mentioned, if it was the one Catherine danced too, don't know what it was...

Carol said...

New York state of mind.

Carol said...

Now I can't remember who danced to it.

Carol said...

We still have the Cuban hunk to go..

Coreen said...

Yes, it was Gavin?

Jaleel White is just so smooth...loved the way he did that
rumba...

Contrary to what Len says...

Carol said...

Those judges have their favorites.

Carol said...

I think over the last several days I've tried to use every yard tool I have and I have a lot.

When I had my pelvic fractures..I was outside with crutches trying to trim trees. I just don't have enough strength in my arms anymore to saw for long. I bought a battery operated reciprocating saw to trim branches. I had that baby buzzing this afternoon.

Carol said...

He's so hot I don't think anyone cares if he makes any mistakes.

I saw a few misses but who cares.

I just love Latin music.

Coreen said...

Your nuts...get the x-con to do the work...sure he could use the $$ & you could use the help...

Carol said...

I think all three of the judges are in love with him.

Carol said...

I had to turn down the AC.

Coreen said...

And William is definitely a latin
heart throb...

as I said they are all doing really
good dances...

Carol said...

Coreen..I kinda like playing with my tools. As soon as it gets hot..I'm over it.

Carol said...

The con is really a poor young guy struggling. He was in jail for being behind on his child support. He's working as hard as he can but doesn't make much money. Judges don't accept any excuses around here. You can be in a coma..too bad.

Carol said...

That was a great dance also. Can't believe he's a football player.

Coreen said...

In your travels to TM did you listen to Mudcat...

they don't sound like d.c. dems or those currently in control...

Interesting that there was a quick pushback from mudcat
to the not so unsurprising comment made by wj...

Coreen said...

Yes, he was very good...

Hard to make a choice...but if pushed, I'd say Sheri...

Carol said...

That Mudcat is an interesting fellow. I first heard him on Colbert..I think. It was not too long ago.

Carol said...

Are you saying Sheri to get bumped off?

Coreen said...

Yes Sheri would be my choice for the next to go...

Carol said...

There's somebody that comes on
TM and insults people there. I think it's the same guy each time..using a different handle. His MO seems to be the same.

That jaslf who gave me such a hard time hasn't been back. I even tried to re-invite him since I felt a little responsible for his leaving.

He did try and control the discussion like he was the group leader. That doesn't usually go over too well over there. They all have strong personalities. I was really moved by the support I got from the guys over there. Wasn't expecting it. Some real gentlemen there.

Carol said...

Kentucky still winning. I can't get CBS. Dang it.

Carol said...

I made a comment on Buddy Roemer's Facebook page and got an email from him saying he liked my comment.

Coreen said...

zero interest in college basketball...

as for the Cbob dustup...honestly have no idea what he says 99% of the time, but as i have said, if you are part of the in crowd, its ok...

I would think that Craig would know
whoever is posting randomly if its the same person or its from a different address...

as far as jack defending you, very unlike his usual mo, a gentleman, hardly... but each to his own...harborwoman called him out recently when he made his usual ornery comments to what she had said & she dressed him down pretty good...

Carol said...

Jack can handle getting flak from people. He doesn't mind an occasional dust up. Nothing fun about always agreeing. Boring.

Coreen said...

boring v. boorish v. belligerent...

Honestly do you really know what cbob is saying most of the time....

and as far as dwts...do you like any in particular...

gotta go now...

Carol said...

Hope Jan's OK. Haven't heard from her.

Carol said...

I like them all in DWTS so I'm not voting.

C-Bob is a lot deeper than some realize. I find him interesting. There's some deep shit included in his ramblings. Sometimes he really cracks me up. He did last night. He's also got a good heart.

We are getting this amazing spring snowfall. It is snowing so hard and the temperature is in the hi 30's. It is supposed to get up to 60 this afternoon. Work is cancelled so I am sitting home enjoying this beautiful snow fall and having a second cup of tea. It does not get any better than this.

jan said...

I enjoyed DWTS last night. I too would not know who to vote for as they all did fairly well last night.

Coreen, I agree with you. I thought Sheri did not do as well as the rest.

The opera singer from England and Derek's partner did the best - 2 gorgeous women and they can dance. I also like the guy from Cuba. He is so cute and love to watch him dance. I agree, I too think at least 2 of the judges are in love with him.

Gladys did great. She was really feeling that music. One of my favorite songs too. If I had voted she would have been one I would have voted for.

Coreen said...

Jan, seems you are having the snow we missed all season...

Yes, there is a quiet beauty as snow silently falls creating that calming mantel of white...if it is
sunny right after the snowfall, it
glistens like diamonds set against a backdrop of blue sky...(but that lasts only a few minutes, then reality sets in...cleanup, which
as you know I dislike)....

but if it has to snow, with temps
going up 30 degrees right after, that is the best way to enjoy mother nature's magic...

Coreen said...

Not to worry Jan, I voted for Gladys(but I forgot what song she danced to)...along with Catherine,
Maria & Jaleel...

Those are my favs for sure...though
it has been really difficult, since everyone has really danced so well...

Sorry that anyone has to leave...

jan said...

Hi Coreen,
It is hard to believe but our high today is projected to be 60.

jan said...

just watched on utube a "recap of DWTS" It was interesting. I did not know that the guy who played Erkel (or whoever) was accused by a former girlfriend just before the show- of abuse.

Also, this Diane who did the recap said that the Cuban guy made 2 big boo-boos during his dance yet got the highest score.

Also, she talked about how the judges were really not judging last night.

jan said...

So, it is really up to the TV audience as to who goes home.

Carol said...

Jan..have you ever checked out that Pure DWTS?

http://www.puredwts.com/

They give ya all the poop on the show.

I went back to look at both Gladys and Sheri online and I think Gladys had the more difficult routine. Sheri's partner..Val.. seemed to do all the work. He prissed his body around and then drug her around a couple of times.

On Pure DWTS they were surprised that the Cuban hunk got as good a score as he did. And Sheri also.

Check them out.
