A Place To Ponder
The first picture was taken early in Dec. 2011 before Kian was born. The rest of the pics were taken the day they got home from the hospital. Landon, the oldest little boy was 2 on Dec. 2, 2011
I cannot sleep so thought I would put a post together.
I wake up to a wonderful surprise! Love the pics Jan. Thanks so much. What is so neat is that the father of the baby is a male..tall..version of you. Looks more like you than your boys do. I guess you know that??Precious baby. What does big brother think?
Of your kids and grandkids and great grandkids..what is the male-female ratio?
Sorry..you couldn't sleep. Did the doc give you any cough syrup? Hope so. Must not have worked though.
The problem you are having with the double posts is..that when we hit publish..we can't really tell if it was hit. I'm starting to look at my tab to see if it indicates something is happening. But being the administrator of this blog..all I have to do is hit the little garbage can below the post and it removes it. I think you may have that option but it will say..that you did it. I can do it without having that written below.
CBS morning show will talk about the working conditions in those Iphone factories. I just love that show.
Actually..what I saw on the Daily Show was more detailed than the report on CBS. This is the problem with outsourcing to a country that doesn't give a s---. They'll kill your pets and your kids..with dangerous stuff in food or toys.Yeap..we get cheaper shit..lot of it doesn't last very long either. Most of it comes with little or no instructions. Even when it does..have you tried to read them? Something is lost in translation. With electronics..you can't find much that is made in the USA. I don't have kids but when I'm looking for any pet products..I look for made in the USA. Dog toys..I had a hard time finding anything at the big box pet stores that was made in the USA. Don't think I ever did. Dogs..like babies..chew on their toys so I wouldn't buy anything from China.
Well..I just tried something new and it worked..thanks to Iphony. They called me about a man with some chest pain. We have an EKG machine but when they do one..I don't have any way to get it faxed to me. I had someone takes some pics of it and send the pic in a message to me. I could blow it up and look at it. Worked like a charm. Very cool.
What I'm curious about with our electronics is...who is making the most of the profit considering the human cost of making the products?
Jan..the grease in our food that goes into the sink clogs up those pipes. I had to change many up under the camp last year. It looked like soap was hardened in the pipes with very little room for water to flow. I did think about my arteries when I saw it. Yuk. Fortunately..here at the camp..on stilts..it's easy to get to the pipes to change them. When your pipes are buried..it's a problem. I try not to put any grease down the sink. I save used baggies and pour everything in them(recycle) and throw it out in the garbage but some still gets into the pipes.
Carol, we have a disposal but I am starting to put leftover food in the garbage rather than the disposal. I hope this may help our problem. So far, plumbing is fine this morning.
Carol, did not realize that Gary resembled me - but now I have other friends I knew years ago who are saying same thing. Bob (ex) says Steve's youngest daughter looks just like his mother when she was younger. I have a niece (my brother's daughter) who looks like my mother (when she was younger). Very interesting. I have 4 bio granddaughters and 4 bio grandsons. Now 2 great grandsons and 1 great grandgirl. Bill has 2 boys, Steve has 2 girls and Terry has 2 of each (4).
Both of our cars are US made.
Thanks Jan..you made me do the math. If I did it right..there's 9 males to 4 females.
The middle pic - the one of Gary holding his son is my favorite. I will print this one and share with students as an example of a parent and child bonding. Even though you cannot see the baby's face - you can tell by Gary's expression that they are definitely interacting with each other. I am so proud of Gary. He is such a good husband and father. He was the sweetest kid when he was little too - always very caring. He and his sister would visit us in Little Rock when they were preteens and teens. Once when they were there for a week, we made them each a quilt to take home (They did a lot of work on the quilts too). Years later when I visited Gary and his wife, he had it hanging on a wall. He was so proud of it. That really touched my heart.
6 males & 5 females.
Jan..I'm also counting your kids. Member them? Add them in and you get the 9-5
I'm guilty..I own a Tundra..Toyota. When I bought it.. I did a lot of research on trucks. I was looking at longevity..and safety. Both were hands down for the Toyota pickup. I think it was the ONLY truck that passed a crash test. I also had a friend who had a very old little Toyota pickup with over 300000 miles on it. Most of my previous vehicles barely survived the car notes. I think things have changed now but my truck is 10 years old and still runs like a top..and I'm not that good at maintenance. I did just spend over $2600 on it's 140000 mile check up/maintenance. I think they did rip me off. I think that all I really needed was some new brakes. I did notice a difference there.
Jan..until just recently I didn't know that Bill Moyers was back on PBS. He is one of my heros and I was sad when he left. I'm happy to see that he's back. I'm also glad I do contribute to PBS every year. Best money I've ever spent. Remember I lived out here at the camp for a while before I moved my satellite here. Before I did..all I had was a couple of networks that came in on antenna and PBS. PBS had three different channels..the regular one..a kids channel and Create TV. I probably watched more PBS than anything else. Now it's just lost in the other crap I have to choose from. I'm still trying to find when it regularly airs.
We don't have to take it..no we don't have to take it. We don't have to take it anymore! How can ordinary people fight Citizens United?
Ya know..watching that Bill Moyers piece last night about how Washington and Wall Street have colluded to screw the 99% of us..it got me to doing some web surfing to look back at who and what and why re our near financial collapse. Well I learned that some of the guys who I thought were good guys really weren't..ie Bill Clinton. Kinda had an intuition that that was the case. It hit me when he was lobbying for Dubai to run our ports. Sounded like a really dreadful idea. Glad that didn't work. I'm a little glad that Hillary didn't make it. I would have hated to have been disappointed in her also.And..it was equal in Republicans and Democrats and pretty much all the guys that Obama selected to advise him were rotten to the core. One hero..who I didn't know was one is Byron Dorgon..a former D senator from North Dakota. He warned of what was to come. So did Ralph Nader. No one listened. Getting rid of Glass-Steagall sealed the deal. It stopped the regulations that protected us from the practices that just about took us all down. There is pretty much is no hope for us unless we get rid of all of the bums and start over.
yup - it is 9 and 5 if I count my sons. Considering the rate of auto immune disorders in my family, how fortunate the boys outnumber the girls. Its a good thing!
We saw the Moyers program this afternoon. I too am gravely disappointed in Clinton.
I remember everyone made fun of Ralph Nader. Guess who the laugh is on.
Jan..watching that Moyers program last night and the one that was on today lead me to Google more info on the subject. Both Rs and Ds were in on it..many who I thought were good guys...huh. What I don't understand is WHY?? What's in it for our politicians to screw us like they have??? How do they profit? There must be a payday. I wonder how much of the money they got/get out of it. I tried to Google if there was any info on financial worth of politicians before and after holding office. Nothing came up. Many of the politicians do leave office and join those lobbying firms or become CEOs of corps where they make some really big bucks. Many..for companies..who their votes helped. Many are already rich so making laws that favor the rich is self serving. When congress voted to help the pharm cos with that big Medicare drug bill..several politicians dropped out to work for big pharma. I guess they wanted to cash in early.Elizabeth Warren had the nerve to say that members of congress should not be able to even own stock in cos that they have any involvement in making laws for. How dare she. Buddy has some neat rules for lobbyist. And I've decided that if there is a candidate that the powers that be..whoever they are..try to squash..that's who we need to pay attention to. Hillary was one..makes me feel better about her..so was Howard Dean..so is Buddy Roemer. Actually Newt is one also but we all know why..he's as crazy as a betsy bug...no doubt about it. Over his moon colony crazy.
Anyone watching the pro bowl. It's been pretty entertaining. A couple of times it looked more like a basketball game. Brees just tried to kick a point after but he flubbed it pretty bad. They said he always wanted to try. I guess it's not as easy as it looks.I think I might have done about as good as Brees..if I could balance on my bad left leg long enough to get my right one in the air.
Jan..I'm still really enjoying your pics. I particularly love the one of dad looking at his son. I think I even recognize that expression as being one of yours also.
Jan, you are blessed...you have a lovely family...Am I correct in you have all sons...not sure I remember any mention of a daughter...just daughters in law...but several granddaughters...
Interesing that I have tried to post several positive comments about Roemer on a few Huff Post articles and my comments disappear. I think Huff Post is also in on the conspiracy to suppress Roemer. It's no joke.
Has anyone been following that case where that group of young women in New York are having those twitching like symptoms. I'm voting for a form of mass hysteria. I was reading in Wiki about several cases over the years and it seems it is most common for this to happen to young women. They are looking into some environmental spill that occurred in the late 70s. It just doesn't make sense that is from some old environmental contamination. Why just a group of young girls and why so long after the contamination?? Could be that one of the girls has a legitimate seizure disorder but then spread into a mass hysteria.Erin Brockovich is on the case. I doubt she'll make a mint on this case but you never know.
I had the electrician come over to the house to check out my HWH problem. My intuition kept telling me it was a wiring problem but no one seemed to think it was. The plumber doubted it and the electrician he called doubted it also. When I went to buy a new HWH..I just couldn't do it. I got this electrician to come out today and look. He checked out everything with the HWH and couldn't find anything wrong. I told him to check out the wiring that goes under the house. We had the breaker on..it was staying on longer than it had. He was looking at the wiring coming from under the house right below the HWH when the breaker snapped off. He noticed some smoke and sure enough..there was a good section of that wiring with no insulation. My intuition comes thru again. It's spooky how accurate it is but I often doubt it. The electrician is coming out tomorrow to run a new wire. Dang glad I didn't buy a new HWH..have it put in and then find out it was the wiring. And I'm glad this time..I followed my intuition instead of what all the experts told me. I'd actually be a very rich girl and wouldn't have lost all that money if I had followed my intuition over the years.
Good job Carol. Glad your intuition paid off.
Coreen, I feel blessed. I do have 3 sons and no daughters. Do have 4 granddaughters and one gr GD.
I seriously doubt there is a physiological basis for the teenage girls symptoms. Teen girls are super suggestible. They are getting a lot of attention for this. In nursing and medicine they call that secondary gain.
I had a fun surprise tonight. I rec'd a letter from a home town girl I went through grade and jr hi school with. She made copies of pics from yearbooks for our 1st and 3rd grade group photos and copies from some photos from our 9th grade field trips. I have never seen these pics. So much fun to reminisce.
I agree Jan. All the media attention will make it worse.
I am recovering well from my "resfrio" that is "cold" in spanish. I just learned that the other day. I have had coughing at night though. Last night I bought some vicks vaporub, put it on my throat and chest, and heated a cloth in the microwave and put warm on same. I coughed much less and slept better. Sometimes, the old home remedies work really good.
You ought to share those pics. I'd enjoy seeing them.
Another spanish word for cold or flu is "gripa" or "gripe"
Mom used to rub Vicks on our chest and neck and wrap our necks with one of dad's long hunting socks. It always worked. I think it was mom's touch that was most effective.
I will try.
Coreen...are you ready for some football? I'll probably watch but won't have my heart in the game...which is probably better for my heart anyway. It was always stressful watching my Saints. Also I like to watch the commercials. Hope there's a good new E-trade baby commercial. And I'll buy into a football pool..that always adds to the fun. I'll pull for the Giants..at least we have a New Orleans boy in it and his dad was a Saint.
