Leaving NM

I promised some pictures of our mountains. These are taken through the car window which thankfully was clean for a change. Two of the pics have some white images that are interesting. They are the only 2 of about 20 pics I took with the white images. All pics were taken looking west through the same window as the sun was strong in the east. We are heading east to OK for another road trip.

Correction: The 3rd and middle pic was taken through the back car window. The 1st pic is the last one I took. The 1st pic is a scene around Tucumcari. The other 4 are leaving Alb and up to 30 miles east of Alb.

The temp outside is now in low 40's. I am so glad I brought sweats.

jan said...

Coreen, where are you. Here are pictures of our mountains. And you are not here to see them. Come back!

jan said...

Very interesting taking pictures out of a moving car with a digital camera. There is a lag time from when I pressed the button until the picture snapped and John is driving 75 miles an hour - so I never knew what I was going to get. So I took a bunch.

jan said...

Over Here Carol. Hi Maggie. Was she happy to see you Carol.

Carol said...

Love the pics Jan. I think that white stuff is the image of something in your vehicle.

I see ya Jan. You look a little damp.

Maggie was happy to see me but I bet she'll miss Dawn. She's such a nice person. We now feel very comfortable about going out of town and having a nice place for Maggie to stay and I survived it.

I converted my pool to salt water last year. I like it so much better. Your skin will feel better compared to that chlorine.

jan said...

I know it must feel good to find a nice person/place for Maggie. We always enjoyed our trips more when we knew Lobie was happy.

I think the salt water is easier on allergies too.

jan said...

Carol, I am in same time zone as you now.

Carol said...

Unfortunately, you won't be there for long.

jan said...

Carol, you are probably right about the white images. They are the only 2 with these though. None of the others have the images.

jan said...

Good night.

Carol said...

Still won't be able to real time live blog DWTS and Idol.

Carol said...

It's a reflection of something in the car or a ghost.

Carol said...

Night. I'm wired now but Maggie is pooped.

After staying in the Hilton, my place, by comparison looks a little filthy. Got lots of chores tomorrow.

Carol said...

I'm taking off Monday also. I need two days to catch up with all my chores. Then when I get back to work I'll have patients and charts piled up to the ceiling. Believe me, I'll still be working on my days off just like I did the entire time I was at the conference. I didn't even get a rest on my breaks.

Carol said...

Tax stuff is another chore I need to work on. I think my accountant wants my stuff by Mar 18. Oops, I'm late. I guess I'll have to ask Timmy boy for an extension.

Geraldine Ferraro Dies Aged 75. RIP. I really liked her. The media gave her a lot of flack when she made the comment that Obama had an advantage during the Dem primary because he was black. I totally agreed with her.

Obama's camp could yell racism when anyone picked on him and they did. When we claimed sexism when they picked on Hillary. the media just laughed. It was actually those who were the most sexist who were yelling racism when anyone picked on Obama. (remember. no commas on Lappy 1)

Chloe. I went to bed with C2C, put me right to sleep but I woke up in the wee hours listening to this guy who caught my attention. He's kinda a global conspiracy theorist. Never heard of him before. His name is David Icke.

Some may think he's a total kook but the dude makes a lot of sense, that is when you are open to that kind of material and not many people are. Some are definitely not ready to hear that kind of stuff.

We were talking about how the last few presidents don't seem to really be so very different and they both took lots of vacations and both at times when there were crises going on. It makes total sense. That is in their job discription. Those dudes aren't really in charge of anything. They just happen to be the current PIP. puppet in charge. who we were manipulated into voting for. Ponder that.

I have thought for a while that all these issues like abortion and gay rights are just red herrings to keep us from realizing that whoever controls both parties really have the same agenda.

And they do want to get rid of those awful unions. where people can get together to protect their rights. Don't want people to have that option.

And there is not much we can do about any of it but just keep it in mind as we watch how things unfold. It will be up to the youngsters to figure it all out but I'm afraid they have a lot more to distract them. They do also have Facebook. which could helpful if they are not too busy playing Farmville.

Now to return programming to our regularly scheduled denial....

"They just happen to be the current PIP. puppet in charge. who we were manipulated into voting for."

That's 'exactly' what I started thinking (out loud at TM) during the last presidential election. I was repeatedly saying (and thinking, of course) that the whole election was pre-determined, and that Obama was no more than a front man for the powers that be.

Hubby and I have often said we think Bill Clinton was a big surprise for them all when he won -- the high-ups never thought he'd make it. They underestimated him, and he became so popular that they couldn't stop the landslide.

They were prepared for Hillary, and even though she won the popular vote, they were able to override her popularity, by carefully manipulation the caucus states. Like Bill, Hillary would never have been the 'puppet' they wanted. Bill Clinton may have made some mistakes, but he was the best thing that happened to this country in a long time. I still love the man, and Hillary too. I wish Hillary had never taken that job for Obama now. At the time I was glad, but now I think it's been so hard on her (although she claims to like it, at the same time she swears she won't take another term if Obama wins). She's great at her job, but has little more flexibility than an employee.

I don't know if it's so much denial, as systematic brain washing. Garbage in - garbage out.

Jan, Great picture of your beautiful New Mexico. It was the favorite part of our drive when we drove from Ca. to Houston. I assumed the white on the two pics where clouds, but then when I enlarged them, I saw what an odd shape they had. I was also wondering about the lines in the one pic, and figure that must be the one you took through the back window.

It's surprising to hear it's in the low 40's there - it's been downright hot here. The heats been off for weeks now, but we do have to use the air conditioning in the afternoons (or earlier).

ps I didn't know you could take pics at that speed. Johns a fast driver!

.. oh, and Jan, those warm chocolate chips cookies. I remember in the old days, I used to love making them, and we'd eat them right out of the oven. Nothing better. (I haven't done that in many years though).

I've been on a sherbet kick (although I'm making sure I keep an eye on my weight - taken up weighing everyday again - keeps me real.

Anonymous said...

Pineapple and orange are my favorites - and it has to be Blue Bell!

How I ever got along without Blue Bell, I'll never know. In Ca. we had Knudsen, which was good, but Blue Bell is much better.

Carol , Glad to see you made it home safely, and in time to get your little baby home last night too. How's she doing? Did she stay on her regular diet in Camp. If so, I guess you pre-cooked it, huh?

I agree with you about this place being a good diary. It was fun reading exactly what was happening at your house last Thanksgiving, Jan. I really love the idea that we can look back through the years to see what was going on.

Carol, I guess when Craig moves TM, we'll lose that archive over there. That one goes 'way' back. I haven't been over there in a while. Has he mentioned when the move will be (or where)?

Jan and John, Stay safe.
(... will you be seeing sis?)

Great day everyone!!

Carol said...

I didn't see you slip in earlier Chloe. No I don't like this new laptop. And right now, I'm not crazy about Windows 7. Having some problem downloading updates. They keep failing. I go to control panel and nothing is like it was before and I can't find what I need.

The speakers are so bad that I have to put my ear up to them to hear anything. I have 14 days and I'm thinking of bringing it back tomorrow.

Carol said...

Chloe, I seem to remember that Craig mentioned having to find a new place by May.

Carol said...

Chloe, I also love the Clintons but can't be totally sure if they are different. Some of our current problems that lead up to the financial crisis were started under his administration.

But, as a plus to both of them, the powers that be, whoever they are, did not want them at the helm. Maybe they wouldn't have been so easy to control like Obama is.

I still felt very uncomfortable when Bill worked as a lobbiest for Dubai Ports. That was a red flag IMO. Sell our port security????

I'm not sure if the unrest in the Middle East is part of the big plan for those "in charge" or if it is an obstacle they have to deal with. That may have been covered in that program last night but I kept falling asleep. I would wake up again and reset it back and then fall asleep again.

Carol, You are so right about me liking that guys philosophy. Every thing he says is what I wholeheartedly believe to be true: We create our own reality. He put it so well when he says we're walking, talking movie projectors. I also like the way he called it part of our evolution, which is something we should be working on 'every' day.

Taking person responsibility is so important, and the finger pointing does drive us into a hole (but is often so much easier to do than looking into ourselves (as he put it) to see what's attracting these things we don't want into our life. Like he says, '...we looking at the reflection trying to change it, instead of changing what's inside us'. I think he called it 'externalizing responsibility', and I agree, when we do that, we lose control of our lives. The only answer is to take responsibility back, and to look within.

I noticed he has one on ''Manipulation Techniques', which I haven't listened to yet, but would seem to tie into your thought on politics here lately. I'm going to bookmark this guy, and maybe I can download a book of his too - I'll check it out a little later.

Anonymous said...

... thanks for linking it. He says it so much better than I ever could. And he makes me realize how much I've been pointing fingers, instead of investigating within myself what I am doing to attract unwanted events.

Anonymous said...

"I'm not sure if the unrest in the Middle East is part of the big plan for those "in charge" or if it is an obstacle they have to deal with."

It's got to be both, Carol. And it's got to involve oil, and/or deals that have been made with others. It's always about money and power, and we're never privy to the details.

Anonymous said...

CBob over at TM linked Bob Herbert's last column at the New York Times, and it's worth a read. I'm pasting some of the things that most stood out to me.

"So here we are pouring shiploads of cash into yet another war, this time in Libya, while simultaneously demolishing school budgets, closing libraries, laying off teachers and police officers, and generally letting the bottom fall out of the quality of life here at home. ...........................

G.E. is the nation’s largest corporation. Its chief executive, Jeffrey Immelt, is the leader of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. You can understand how ordinary workers might look at this cozy corporate-government arrangement and conclude that it is not fully committed to the best interests of working people.

Overwhelming imbalances in wealth and income inevitably result in enormous imbalances of political power. So the corporations and the very wealthy continue to do well. The employment crisis never gets addressed. The wars never end. And nation-building never gets a foothold here at home.

New ideas and new leadership have seldom been more urgently needed." Losing Our Way

Carol said...

Thanks for sharing that Chloe.

That dude I linked said that each of those missiles we're lobbing over in Libya costs $600,000 while we have families here living in tent cities because they have no work, and thru no fault of their own.

He mentioned that the banks caused much of this financial crisis, gambling, cost those same people their jobs, those people bailed them out with their prior tax dollars and the same bank foreclosed on their homes. Great country we live in. Hooray for the USA. And Obama got his vacation.

Carol said...

And did any of those crooks go to jail??? No, but there are plenty of men and women in jail for stealing food and diapers from Walmart.

Carol said...

On a much more pleasant note, I just made the best meal. I cooked up some organic leaf spinach, some angel hair pasta, and sauted some shrimp in I can't believe it's not butter with olive oil, lemon juice and Tony's Cajun seasoning. Need enough of that sauce to use as a gravy.

I put the pasta down first, covered it with the spinach, then put the sauted shrimp on top and poured some of that spicy lemon butter juice over it all. I then sprinkled some crumpled feta cheese on top. I toasted up some Como specialty bread from Wally World.

It was absolutely mavelous darling!

And I weighed earlier today and I've lost about 5 lbs in the last week. I think I left most of that on those long hikes at my meeting.

Carol said...

OK Chloe, where did you find the one on "manipulation techniques"?

jan said...

Carol, your meal sounds wonderful. all my favorite foods too. I am glad I had already eaten when I read what you cooked. I just had a salad with chicken, strawberries, cashews, & spinach with a blueberry dressing (sweet). Delicious.

Chloe, will be seeing my sister tomorrow. Tonight my star is in Springdale AR. Tomorrow night it will be in Catoosa OK.

jan said...

Chloe, I think it was you who has remarked in the past about how blue the sky was in my pics of NM. It made me watch the sky for its color. Yesterday while driving through Texas and OK. I realized that the sky is much bluer in NM. I wonder why.

Carol said...

OK Jan, I just looked that up. Both dust particles and humidity can make the sky paler blue. Your bluer sky must be cleaner and/or drier.

Carol said...

I've always noticed that our winter skies are so much bluer. It's because it is usually drier in the winter here.

jan said...

Carol, thanks for looking up that info. Isn't it interesting what you can find with a click of a button. Or did you get out the old encyclopedia LOL?

jan said...

The wind was really blowing yesterday in western OK and the TX panhandle and very dry so there was probably a lot of dust in the air.

Carol said...

Just googled it Jan. We had a set of World Book encylopedias growing up. That was a pain to look things up in but better than nada.

Now adays, I love having a question so I can click it up. And they say all this multimedia makes us dumber??

I was talking to someone at work the other day and we were wondering when they would start putting textbooks on something like Kindle so students don't have to carry around all those books.

Carol said...

It would not only save the trees but save all that garbage piling up.

Carol said...

And put a lot of people out of work also. Oh well.

Carol said...

Guess we could pay people to hug trees.

Carol said...

Think of how many jobs we could pay people to do with what it costs to lob one of those bombs. But then there would probably be some rich person that wouldn't be making all that money to make those expensive bombs.

Carol said...

Massachusetts and Nevada are both detecting radiation but don't worry. it's probably not more than what you would get with 10 xrays. Just skip your next 10 xrays.

jan said...

I too have wondered when students can get their textbooks on the e-readers. Will save back problems when they get older.

jan said...

We met John's niece and her family for dinner last night. They have 2 boys - 9 y/o and 14 months. The baby is so cute. He had a cough. The weather has turned very cold here. It did not get above 45 degrees and with wind.

Got a text from middle son in Alb. DIL had to have emergency appendectomy last night. She is doing well now.

jan said...

We head to Tulsa today (100 miles) will stay there tonight. Have some business there and will see my sister tonight.

jan said...

Hope you all have a good day today. We see our accountant this morn.

Anonymous said...

Jan, Yes, I remember noticing how blue the sky was in your pictures of NM. Sometimes it's like that here, but NM does seem to be even more so. I think it may have to do with a lower population, and that you probably have a lot more wind there.

Houston is the least windy city I've ever lived in, but I did notice when we moved here, I noticed how much bluer the sky was than California - and usually still is (I thought that was why they called it the 'big sky'). The last couple of days have been overcast, and it's supposed to stay like that the rest of the week. Ca. had more smog there than we ever noticed her, but it's gotten worse here too now. I was surprised to hear Carol say that the smog in Houston wasn't as bad as it used to be, because since we've lived here, we think it has gotten a lot worse because of more over population, and therefore more automobiles, etc.. Not bad up north where we live- not yet anyway.

But I definitely think that places with more wind and colder weather seem to look a lot clearer, and therefore the sky a lot bluer. Another thing that makes New Mexico so beautiful - that, along with the mountain lines, etc. When we drove through, it looked like a movie scene, just gorgeous.

Anonymous said...

... duh, I see that Carol had already answered your question. It makes sense that humidity would make a difference. But one thing, Ca. was very dry, but on the whole the sky is much bluer here.

And the cold probably is a factor too, as Carol said. We did move here in the winter.

Anonymous said...

Carol, I just noticed that video in a list on the side when I looked up David Icke on YouTube (after you linked him there).

Here it is, but I haven't listened to it yet. Manipulation Techniques

Carol said...

On Lappy 1 I have no commas and I have a comma habit. I overuse commas because of it. When I'm on Lappy 1 I will use two periods in the place of where I want a comma. OK.

I woke up pondering about how technology has put a lot of people out of work. And think about it.. what all those people.. who don't have a job anymore used to make.. ends up going to just a few people.. making them disgustingly rich. I don't want to give up the technology but I wish we could come up with an answer to that problem. And what is even sadder is that those people who are now making all that money and taking food out of all those mouths..don't want to pay a penny more in taxes. Actually some of them would but they are not asked to.

Also..besides new technology..I think that one of most significant causes of the loss of jobs in this country was when we started outsourcing jobs. I remember when I first heard that word..I thought this is not going to be a good thing. That was one thing I really liked about Lou Dobbs. He hated outsourcing and called out those big companies that did it.

I just did a little google search and it was also new technology that made outsourcing possible.

Glad to hear your trip is going well, Jan. Be safe, and keep us informed on how you're doing.

Another ponder I have is how much do our lawmakers profit from the decisions they make while in office? I wonder if anyone has ever done a study of the financial worth of each of our lawmakers before and after they got into office.

Doesn't it make you wonder why some of those who run for office are willing to put so much of their personal money into running for office?? It ain't for humanitarian reasons people!

Carol said...

Oh..good morning..didn't see you guys slip in..thought I was up alone. Not going to work today. I need two days off to do all my chores. Now I will catch up.

Carol said...

Chloe..back in the 60s and 70s Houston was horrible. You couldn't even see the tall buildings because they were in a cloud of smog. Like I said..you could smell your way there. Air control regulations made a big difference. I would lose my voice within hours of getting to Houston.

If it's getting worse again maybe it's because they are starting to relax those regulations.

How long have you been in Texas?

We have lots of industry in our area. Most of it is on all the water we have in this area. If you fly into my city..all you see is water. The water quality when I was a kid was awful. I'm surprised I don't have an extra appendage from swimming/skiing in it. It's much better now.

When I was a kid my best friend and I used to camp out at my grandfather's place. He had a home on 11 beautiful acres on a bayou. That bayou came off a lake close to where many of those industries were located.

We would float that bayou in a little boat shooting alligator gar. It was the only fish that could survive the toxins in that water. I figured I was putting them out of their misery. I wouldn't put a toe in that water.

Carol said...

Jan..yesterday I started gathering my tax stuff. I put my W2s in a safe place but forgot where that safe place was. I started to panic but then I used that prayer to St Anthony..the patron saint of lost items. It always works and did again. I barely got the prayer out of my mouth when my hands hit those W2s.

Carol said...

I feel good, do, do do, do do, do do. Like I knew that I would, do, do do, do do, do do. So good, so good, I got my taxes in! And only 11 days late. Accountant wanted them by the 18th.

Sung to James Brown..I feel good.

Carol said...

And the sun is out and bright today and it's even a little cool. So good, so good....

Carol said...

And sorry about your DIL's appendectomy Jan.

And I've always wanted to know why some skies are bluer than others. I have noticed that summer skies are always less blue here than winter skies, especially when it is colder and sunny out on those winter days. Now I know that it is because those winter days are usually less humid. Glad you asked the guestion Jan. I never think of that guestion when I'm just a click away.

Carol said...

If you are feeling bad about my shooting those alligator gar when I was a youngster, (I kinda do now)...it was only with BBs and I don't think they even felt it. I actually think they were laughing at me.

Here's a pic of an alligator gar: (Chloe, don't have that hyperlink link on this computer, it's in my favs on Lappy 1. Could you send it to me again?)

I'm looking for my dancing shoes. I think DWTS is on tonight. Coreen, those really good dancers need your support. Ya know I'll be pulling for the underdogs. Like Jan, I think I'm gonna pull for Kirsty. She and I are the same age.

Jan, even though you are in my time zone, you sound like you'll be busy tonight unless sis also likes dancing.

Coreen said...

Did you really think I would let you go through
DWTS alone....

Catch you later, when its on...

For me, gotta go with Kirsty Alley & the Karate
Kid...maybe someone will jump out front of the
'younger' dancers, but none really stood apart
other than these 2....

Coreen said...

And Jan, nice pics...mountains all around...a view not seen in these parts...are these the
'watermelon' mountains...

Carol said...

Oh, happy days! Our Coreen is back!

We can't agree on this...can we??

Carol said...

I like Kirsty and KK also.

Carol said...

Sugar Ray put his heart into it but I do have to agree with the judges even though Len could have been a little nicer about it.

Carol said...

Coreen, I hope you know what time DWTS is on. Grab your salad and get in here.

Carol said...

OMG, more cry babies!

Carol said...

No, I don't expect much out of a PB bunny.

Coreen said...

What a memory kid...still eating my big salad
right now...

While its early, I don't think any of these
celebs are 'dancers' as were some of the past
celebs...so the winner is really going to have
to work hard to master the dances...

Coreen said...

By the way, winter is not letting go here...only in the 40s should be 50s at least
the snow is gone thankfully...but really cold
& windy...did see some crocus blooms today though...& a few buds on trees...

Carol said...

All that snow is gone??? Did you have any problems with flooding? Did your creek fill up?

Coreen said...

For me, no flooding, & yes the wetlands are
full of water, but believe it or not, today there was a red flag fire warning for the entire state, seems that it is very dry..go figure...

Carol said...

That was a tough routine. I agree with judges.

Coreen said...

I think the actual dance routines have morphed
into more entertainment then doing the dance
steps associated with a particular dance, so
we don't get to see the real 2-step, foxtrot,
but a very loose interpretation of each dance,
entertaining but no representative of the
dance itself...

So far no one jumps out as the 'frontrunner'...

Carol said...

It's been very dry here also and some moron north of here has a fire going outside. It's also very windy, out of the north and for a moment, I thought I was on fire.

Carol said...

Yep Coreen, no one has impressed me so far.

Carol said...

I bet you like this next guy. He has the look that I would guess you would like. Not talking about dancing either.

Carol said...

The best so far!

Coreen said...

Is he the wrestler...actually he did a good job
with that quickstep...I better look at him closer though...remember Don Johnson (sonny crocket)my kinda guy....

Carol said...

He's close Coreen.

Carol said...

He was slicked up tonight. Did you catch a look at that bum? I'm a bum girl.

Carol said...

The high score so far.

Coreen said...

Len was right long legs, short skirt, bad technique...she was too awkward for me...

Carol said...

Not so good IMO. She's pretty but her footwork I thought was not that sharp.

Carol said...

Yes, having that much leg exposed made it more visible.

Coreen said...

Off track, I have become obsessed with the
Kindle...I had thought my mom would like it
since she has more time home now (but she's
not interested yet) & now I just love it...probably won't give it up!!!

Carol said...

Now, can Kirsty move fast???

Coreen said...

Go for it Kirstie....

Carol said...

I think she had a few stumbles??

Coreen said...

Kirsti's a natural...entertainer, etc...but maybe the extra weight took a bit out of her stamina....but she's still one of my favs...

She had a reality show, not sure if it is still
on somewhere on cable...

Carol said...

It's a tough dance early in the competition for someone who is 60 and not is great shape! I got short of breath just watching.

Carol said...

She's still my fav also.

Carol said...

I do think that this is a more fair competition this season. No one has a real head start.

Carol said...

except for age and physical agility.

Coreen said...

Gotta give him points just for doing the steps...don't think he will be around for long though...& I have no idea who he is....a radio
guy...

Carol said...

That guy dances like a white cowboy.

Carol said...

A straight white cowboy at that. It might help if he were black or gay.

Carol said...

So far, he'd be the one I'd vote off.

Carol said...

I like Romeo, Romeo....

Coreen said...

This kid just may be the one...

Carol said...

We still havent seen KK. He did great last week.

Carol said...

Romeo is a rapper. I'm not familiar with his music, at least I don't think I am. I'm also not a fan of rap.

Carol said...

There's a lot of poundage in the pumpkin department this season.

Carol said...

If ya catch my drift.

Carol said...

What kind of radio shows do these people do??

Coreen said...

Again she did a nice job...& as she said
she's a big girl...Wendy Williams a pretty outspoken tv talk show host & author...she may
be an East Coast girl, hear her on local talk
radio occasionally,,,

Carol said...

Here comes the KK.

Coreen said...

I like him...I like him!!!

Carol said...

He still looks like a kid!

Carol said...

Not as great as last week but still good and he'll get better.

Carol said...

And he didn't embarrass his teenagers.

Coreen said...

This Pittsburgh Steeler is really smooth...

Carol said...

He did surprisingly well.

Carol said...

I just finished voting.

Coreen said...

Outside of Kirstie, the best so far are all guy celebs...

Coreen said...

Catch you later, still working on my tax info
for the accountant...must get it to him
before the week is over...

Hello to all...Jan, Chloe, Solar wherever you are...still the same old gang...love you all...

Carol said...

Love you too Coreen and it was nice live blogging with ya! Nite. Get to those taxes. It's such a relief to have them done! Perked me right up.

Carol said...

Signing off Lappy 2, I better decide fast if I like her. I'll be signing on to Lappy 1, the curse of the commas. I still like her much better even if she does have a seizure disorder.

Carol said...

Here are some slides of Fox News fails. Some are really funny. Worth taking a minute to look at them. Whoever does there graphics must be smoking something.

Carol said...

Coreen..two things I want you to know from my puruse of the news tonight... #1 is that GE paid no taxes this year and is even getting a huge tax benefit. I'd try to find their tax guys if I were you. #2. there's a deadly poisonous s---- that escaped from the Bronx Zoo. Keep a look out!

Carol said...

Well who will go home tonight?? I'm kinda thinking it will be between the two radio people.

Carol said...

I bet we watch Kirsty drop the pounds..teaching us all the benefits of exercise and how dancing is a great way to get it. I liked some of the music so well that I was up juking and jiving myself.

Carol said...

KK..Karate Kid.. still looks like a K. I think he's 50?? Standing with his kids it would be difficult to know who is dad.

Carol said...

Well.. it's off to the races. Hi ho..hi ho...

Welcome back Coreen!
We've missed you. Hope you're doing well.

Carol, Congrats on getting your taxes in. Uplifting to see you feeling so good.

It looks like you already figured out the hyperlink formula again, but I'm still leaving a site here that explains it (just in case). I couldn't find the old one, but this one seems easier to understand anyway:
How to leave a hyperlink with your comment

BTW , do you know you can bring all your favorites over from your old computer by using the import/export options on the bookmarks/favorites.

I don't use Internet Explorer, but assume you do, since you call them favorites instead of bookmarks. I just went over to Internet Explorer and noticed that if you click on favorites, then click on the downward arrow for 'add to favorites' there's an import/export link. Hit that, then follow instructions.

On Firfox, I export them to my desktop, then either email them or save the link from my desktop on a usb flash drive (memory stick), then put the flashdrive on my new computer and load it on the it's desktop. After that, you'll be able to go to the import/export option on your new computers Internet Explorer and go the 'add to favorites' option and import them from your new desktop. Do you have a usb flashdrive? They cheap and very handy to save things on.

Hope this makes sense. It really just takes a while to make your new computer work just like your old one (minus the problems) if you work on the kinks for a while. I'd be glad to help you with any questions, 'if' I happen to know the answer.

Jan, Hope you let us know how dinner with your sister went. Is she feeling better?

I can't get over what busy people you and John are. It must be fun doing all the traveling around you do.

Hope John is feeling better about his friend from church going to the assisted living place.

Be safe on your road trip and sending love to you both. You'll probably be as happy as Carol to get your taxes turned in. We've yet to do ours - always waiting until the last minute.

Solar, now that Coreen's back, sure would be nice to hear from you.

Like I said a while back, I very much miss hearing your views about what's going on in the world -- there seems to be plenty going on right now.

jan said...

Yeaay McDonalds. We found free wifi here. Our motel's internet access was not working yesterday and last night. Won't stay there again.

jan said...

Will catch up on reading later tonight. The motel we will be staying in Weatherford has wifi.

Coreen, Hi there! good to see ya.

Talk later.

We will travel 7 hours tonight and then Weatherford. The weather in OK has been cold and is wet now. I sort of enjoy the dampness for a change. Very dry in NM. My skin loves it here.

I guess with the travel time, Jan won't be live blogging tonight. And when she's back home, we're back to that hour time difference.

This is a test:

Pur Dancing With the Stars

Carol said...

OK I now got it Chloe. That site you linked wouldn't let me copy that formula like the old one would, so I had to type it to my notepad myself.

Coreen said...

Looks like Pres. Obama did one thing right
with his speech...no comment on the content of the speech....
White House
negotiates with ABC to air speech before
DWTS

Carol said...

And Coreen, I do appreciate his efforts there.

Coreen said...

By the way can you view the NYT through the link, since they are now supposedly a pay for
some views site...but am told linking may be
a way around the paywall....but I am a print
subscriber so I still can read the online NYT...

Coreen said...

As for who gets booted from dwts, any of the bottom 6, no preference at this point...

Carol said...

I think I saw a Jan star flashing. Has the eagle landed?? Maybe the eagle went out for feed.

Carol said...

Coreen, pur dancing seems to think that it will be one of the radio stars that leave tonight.

Carol said...

It will be sad. Oh well, life's a bitch.

Carol said...

They did also say that Wendy has a following so maybe that will help her. The radio guy is kinda cute so that may help him.

Carol said...

I did like the music they had. I was even up dancing.

Carol said...

I can't believe we were dancing and no Solar showed up. He can usually smell when there's dancing going on.

jan said...

Yes, we are back in Weatherford - I checked in for a minute to see what you guys have been up to and then went out for a bite. Its a small town, so not much choice. We like small towns. Mazzios had a buffet that was pretty good. It was good to have salad.

I was up with heartburn until 2 this morning. Forgot my zantac at home so took a prilosec of John's but didn't work well. Just walked the floor - couldn't lie down. I think it has been the stress of the past few days. Sometimes I am not even aware that I feel the stress.

jan said...

I like Petra - sad story for her - was in the tsunami and her fiancee killed = she broke her pelvis in 4 places. I think she should have left her skiort on in her 2nd dance. Without her skirt, you can see she is pretty stiff in her movements.

jan said...

I am afraid to read the previous comments as I don't want to know who has been kicked off.

Carol said...

Jan, the proton pump inhibitors, ie.prilosec, prevacid, take a little while to work. Not as fast an onset as the H2 inhibitors, ie pepcid, zantac. Even faster is a slug of antacid. You ought to keep some of that with ya.

One of the antacids, Galviscon, not only neutralizes the acid but foams up to help reduce reflux.

jan said...

I did read comments before we went out to eat and Chloe, we had dinner with my sis and her hubby last night. I also invited a childhood friend. We had a great time talking about old times. Our parents were good friends too. My sister is doing very well - her weight is up to 97 lbs and she even has a butt on her. I don't know if I have told you all before but she has a disease called Crohns and has to do IV's regularly that have fats and proteins to keep her weight up. You all would like her - she is a wild thing. She can tell a story better than anyone I know. We all had fun telling stories of our parents.

jan said...

Hi Carol, I have never tried Galviscon - I will get some. The zantac has worked well for me. I don't have reflux too often lately but last night was one of the worst I have ever had.

Carol said...

If you are watching right now, they are replaying the dances and you will be up with the rest of us.

Carol said...

And Jan, when you are suffering those symptoms, the only thing that will work fast is an antacid. The others only help to prevent the symptoms.

jan said...

Wow, just checked out the stars and there are a bunch.

I think it will be either Wendy or Mike who will go tonight.

The videos of Bruno were fun. I would like to see him dance. I would like to see all 3 judges dance. Wonder why they have not done that.

jan said...

Carol, I forgot - I am up with you guys - we are still in same time zone. It is when we get into NM that our time zone changes.

jan said...

whoopee, I get to chat with you while the dancing is going on. I like Chelsea. She has a neat personality and some potential to be a good dancer.

Carol said...

Last chance to live blog together.

jan said...

Romeo is one of my favorites also.

Carol said...

I like him too Jan even though I don't care for rap.

jan said...

I do miss Derek, but he was so good, he outshone the other dancers.

jan said...

I don't like Rap either,

Carol said...

Chris has also grown on me.

Carol said...

He made a world of improvement.

jan said...

Chris and Cheryl are a good fit to dance togeher too.

Carol said...

Who is John's fav? Do he watch? If he like jugs, this is a good season for them.

jan said...

Chris also is fun to watch. He is having a good time.

jan said...

Kirstie and Sugar Ray. But he says he does not think Sugar Ray has a "shot at it."

jan said...

John is not a "boob's" man - he is more of a booty guy. Remember, he married me - LOL.

jan said...

Hope we don't run out of comments before the show is over.

Carol said...

Chris has a nice bum. Probably not John's fav though.

Carol said...

Been there, done that.

Carol said...

If we run outta space we just set up a PS.

Carol said...

I think Max is a great dancer. He may have a weird personality but I love to watch him move.

Carol said...

His personality is even starting to grow on me.

jan said...

Max is a lot different this season. He is smiling more and he and Kirstie seem to have some good chemistry.

Carol said...

It's good to see the dances back to back. Can see the improvement.

Carol said...

Hines is light on his feet for a football player. Sorry that he's a Steeler.

jan said...

I like that too.

Hines has a good chance. He is a good dancer. I think the football players do well if they are good dancers.

His dance partner, Kim is one of my favorite dancers.

Carol said...

Chris Brown, the bad boy, is suppose to be on the results show.

jan said...

I think Max is the best looking of the male dancers. He just seemed to not have good chemistry with the sports writer a couple of seasons ago and I didn't like the way he smacked her on the butt and talked to her.

jan said...

Oh how interesting. Is his wife Whitney?

Carol said...

Who's wife? I got up to do some dishes.

jan said...

I think Ralph might win this season. He is GOOD!

jan said...

Chris Brown's wife

jan said...

I can't place who Chris Brown is.

Carol said...

I didn't think he was married. He's the one who whipped up on Rihanna, his x girlfriend. I think?

jan said...

I keep up with the female singers more than the male singers.

Carol said...

It was all over the celeb news a while back. I don't know anything about him either, except that.

jan said...

OK, that is who Chris Brown is. I didn't remember the name of Rihanna's boyfriend. I hope he did some rehab.

Coreen said...

OK, we are now live...

Catch up a bit...Jan, Whitney Houston was or maybe still is but I think not married to Bobby
Brown...

This guy is an abuser of women, his ex girlfriend I think was Rhianna?? don't know wha
she sings, but she was/is popular to a different generation...

Apparently Cheryl is a victim of abuse & is not
thrilled that Chris Brown is on the show...at least I read that somewhere earlier...
