December 27, 2010 East Coast Blizzard CT style

Enjoy the East Coast Blizzard from the comfort of your home....

Looking out my front door this morning... The snow is pushed up against the front storm door, can not push it open to clean it...will have to walk across the front yard in 10" of snow to clean it off...

The snow directly outside the garage measured 11", this is after it was plowed last night when there was about 6" and looking out past the holly bush is where I feed the birds....measures 10" in the grass...had to throw bird seed on top of the snow & the birds are managing to get it without sinking in to the snow...

Here's the path I made across the 3 garage doors to get the snow from against the doors....& the path I shoveled to get across the back of the driveway to throw bird seed to the other
area where the birds eat....and this is looking out my driveway to my two neighbors' homes...I won't be out the driveway until tomorrow....

Out on the back porch the wind blew some snow inside & Cassie wanted to investigate, but came right back inside...
This is the backyard looking at the back porch where the real Christmas tree stands...the pile of snow is what was plowed last night, but the driveway is full again....

Well guys, for your entertainment, our blizzard...the wind is still blowing, but the sun is out...

the snow is heavy, so I can not shovel much at all, the paths I made were just the width of the shovel, enough to walk across the driveway...the plow will clean it again later today...

I'm guess there was anywhere between 12" to 18" depending on the drifting...

They say there were winds gusting at 60-70 mph
but the blizzard has been downgraded to a winter storm warning with high winds..still gusting 40-50 mph...

Believe it or not they say by New Year's Eve
we may get into the 40s & even possible to reach 50, but it will have to be pretty warm
to melt all this snow...

Beautiful Pictures Coreen.

Only time I've seen that much snow is when we flew into Reno one winter for a couple days. We used to take off on a minutes notice (very impulsive, we were) - flying was so easy back then. Had to be over 20 years ago. We stopped on the road we were taking up to the casino, and the wall of snow on both sides was well above our heads. I don't know what happened the the pics we took, but I can remember it well. It was pretty exciting for us.

.. the important thing is that you didn't lose power.

Loved seeing those little birds getting fed, in spite of the hardship it must have caused you getting out there.

Very cool Coreen. Actually very cold Coreen. Thanks for sharing your blizzard without the pain.

The sun is shining bright and it's warmed up here and I still have a chill. Well, it's still in the 40s and that's not warm enough for me. I don't think my kitchen here has broken out of the 50s. It's between my two warmer rooms with my AC/heaters. It has no real source of heat unless I'm cooking. I could put a space heater in there, have plenty of those, but I don't want to run up the electric bill. I just move fast when I go in there.

I managed to get into work, catch up on all my charts, not see too many, and get away again.

Chloe, I also worry about all the critters outside when it's cold or when it's very hot. Maybe they know when rough weather is coming and have time to prepare. They seemed to know about the tsunamis ahead of time. God knows we have enough the worry about, that we also can't do much about.

The Republicans are such hypocrites. They don't want to do things that might help kids learn to eat healthy or encourage busnesses to offer healthier options. Childhood obesity is contributing to some serious health care costs, diabetes and hypertension, and it is more of a problem in the poor. Start looking in the grocery baskets of people using food stamps. Look at the amount of junk food. I dare ya.

They don't want old people to understand that they don't have to be attached to a ventilator until they start to rot. It's already that more of Medicare costs come in the last days/months of life when quality is way past gone. The statistics are fightening.

Even though they fight what needs to be done to decrease health care costs, they certainly don't want to pay to cover those expenses either.

I could never understand how many Republicans can be call themselves conservative. To me, the term conservative has become an oxymoron? I know that many do act like morons, oxy, I'm not sure.

They would be perfectly happy to terminate both Medicare and Medicaid and breaking the bank might be part of the plan. Both of the costs of those programs are skyrocketing due to what the Republicans complain about doing. Again, what they whine about are just red herrings to keep people thinking that they actually care. They don't. We aren't fooled. Well some of us aren't.

Got a little riled because I've been hearing about those death panels again today. Advanced directives has been around for years only now they plan to reimburse Docs for discussing them.

Well, I guess we can ask those Republicans to cough up those their taxes they wanted to cut to pay for those extra wasteful health care costs.

And Sarah Palin, why are you such a dumb ass? These things are no brainers!

Carol said...

Tonight the Saints play the Falcons. I think it's our last chance to get a wildcard, if they win. If they look like they did last week that won't happen. It might even take a miracle if they play well.

Anonymous said...

Carol, I needed to catch up on what you were talking about, and this guy completely agree's with you (and thoroughly talked me through it):

"One of the most irritating lies to me is that of the “death panels” that are called for in the administration and congressional health reform bills. Despite the fact that no such panel was ever called for in the bill, a point explicitly made by senior Republican Senator Charles Grassley when he noted that the end-of-life discussions provision had been dropped by the negotiators because of the misinterpretation of it, the liars and demagogues continue to press the point, led by former vice-presidential candidate and now-former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin: “Palin stands by ‘death panel’ claim..... Why I am particularly irritated about this is that it misrepresents a really important health care issue, one that we all need to think about: end-of-life care. It also misrepresents how decisions on limiting access to unproven treatments would be made. I have previously addressed the latter at some length (May 12, 2009, July 5, 2009), and probably will again, but today want to talk about the former." Advance Directives, not "Death Panels"

.... he also has indexed a section on 'Medicine and Social Justice Index' about a third of the way down on his main blog page, I don't know if you'll find any of it interesting, but I'm going to go back to take another look tomorrow. http://medicinesocialjustice.blogspot.com/

And I've seen those shopping carts you're talking about. There's such a thing as being overweight and malnutritious at the same time.

Have you noticed that nice little half moon shape of stars on our chart (over toward the west coast)? I like it.

jan said...

Wow Coreen, that is one heck of a bunch of snow. Hope you are doing ok.

Carol said...

Nice half moom Chloe.

Chloe the Republicans are hoping we get tired and depressed with this and tune out, which many of us have done. That worries me because we are the smart, reasonable people.

The angry poor have not tuned out. They can't afford to and the Republicans are feeding that group. Feeding them misinformation that is. Even though they haven't tuned out, they aren't exactly paying close attention. The Republicans talk in scary sound bites of misinformation. A report recently cited that Fox News viewers are some of the most misinformed viewers. I'm sure Fox is proud of that.

Actually, these days it is the Democrats that have become more conservative. They try to be helpful, fair, but thrifty also. Well some of them. Many have decided if they can't fight them, it's better to join them so they can get all that fast money to run for re-election.

Carol said...

The only thing that does amuse me is that there is such a cast of clowns in the Republican party that they might end up imploding. I think some of the older Repubs are also worried about that.

I've always been a conservative Democrat. I want to provide assistance without all the fraud and waste. Get rid of that fraud and waste and we can do it.

Carol said...

Oh, BTW, we won the game last night! The Falcons are good but last night, we were better. A few scary moments but the Saints can come thru when their butts are on the line. We assured ourselves of a wildcard position.

Carol said...

Thanks for those links Chloe.

Carol said...

Interesting research finding recently. They studied the effectiveness of the use of no medication vs the use of a placebo. The placebo, even when people knew that is what they were getting, ended up being as efficacious as some of the expensive powerful drugs used to treat the condition.

It not only has implications for medicine but for many other things. The Repubs are passing out lots of placebos and they are working.

Yaaay Saints - way to go!

... and yes, the power of suggestion is very strong. Makes you wonder how much more our minds are capable of.

(Also, how capable we are of deceiving ourselves, and seeing and believing whatever fits into what we want to believe).

February 28th. I'm a Pisces.

The only thing I like about it, is that it marks the end of these god awful gray winters. March and April are my favorite months.

Carol said...

Hmmmm. Chloe, Pisces is one of my real compatable signs. We are both water signs. Did ya know that?

Ms Mary got home without incident today. I just talked to her.

Chloe, we are very capable of dealing with many things. Working in corrections has taught me that.

It thought it was so dumb for Obama to praise the Eagles for giving Michael Vick a second chance. This Mo Kelly writing on Huff Post agrees. He says:

"President Obama's phone call (and subsequent spotlight) would have been better served highlighting individuals and entities truly about the business of helping everyday African-American men reintegrate themselves into society after prison; not offering more inappropriate idolatry of athletes."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/morris-w-okelly/mr-president-youre-wrong-_b_801965.html

Vick may have served his time for his crime but he is still a man who could torture and kill innocent animals because they didn't perform to his liking. That's evil that goes to the bone, IMO. He's a man who had it all, threw it away and then got it all back. Whoopee. I think Obama's picking this guy to praise was really a mistake. Obama keeps giving us some insight into his heart and it ain't pretty.

Anonymous said...

Carol, I agree. Obama continues to offend people and he doesn't have a clue.

If Vick had been abusing humans (which I don't know if he does or doesn't), it would have been a completely different story.

This was more about how he plays ball than forgiveness anyway. It's always about profit with the big boys.

Anonymous said...

... I did note we were both water signs a while back. I always have thought we are more alike, than meets the eye.

Glad to hear you made it home OK Mary. Hope to hear about your visit and little Lauren.

You must have experienced some seriously cold weather while you were there.

Carol said...

Chloe, I could understand if Obama would be congratulating those who offer a second chance for those young AA man and women who have served their time. I'd be all with him then but someone like Vick who had what he had and did what he did, no way. The Eagle may have gotten their karma last night. They lost against the Vikings who were using some new QB. Hmmmm.

Recently the good Rev., Pat Robertson, Mr God talks to him guy, said he thought there needs to be less consequences for possession of marijuana. I think that this time God may have just talked to him. I'm serious.

I see first hand the cost and psychcological trauma that results from kids being arrested for marijuana possession. Pat was right on with what he said this time. Out of the mouths of idiots occasionally comes something that makes sense.

I wish someone would do a cost analysis of the burdens to the states for arresting these kids for a little marijuana possession. We would all be very surprised.

Carol said...

Chloe and Coreen, did you see that Flatus lost his youngest daughter. He said she had Bipolor Disorder and they found her hanged on Christmas Eve. How very sad for he and his family.

Until I worked in corrections I hadn't seen just how devastating Bipolar Disorder is for the individual suffering with it and the family. And for everyone else who has to deal with that individual.

I think that many, if not most, of our inmates with mental disorders have Bipolar Disorder. The manifestations of that mental illness often does lead to incarceration and these people aren't criminals prior to their disease.

With no mental institutions, and the fact that many won't take the medications that control the manic phase of the illness, they usually have some run in with the law and end up in jail. Families can't handle them at home because their behavior can be so disruptive and even dangerous.

One particular inmate hit me very hard. I knew her growing up. She came from a very well to do and nice family. Prior to the full blown manifestation of her illness, she was married to the brother of one of my childhood friends. I hadn't seen her for years before she ended up in our joint. She spent quite a bit of time with us, even in isolation because of her behavior. We got her stabilized on medications and she got out but was back again after a short while. She's now living in a group home. It's so sad.

Carol said...

Well, we are having a frog strangler right now. Since noon we have had over 3 inches of rain. We were 23 inches behind but I don't want to catch up today.

Carol said...

Looks like Jan will get snow tomorrow. I wonder how long the kids are staying.

Coreen, has any of your snow melted. Are you getting around OK?

I leaned up to type on my laptop and felt something wedge behind my back. It was Maggie. A short time later the thunder hit. She's a little weather girl. I always know ahead of time when thunder is coming.

Carol, that story about your friend that was bipolar was really eye opening to me. All I've ever known a about it is that they're get extreme highs and dump down into extreme lows. Never really thought of the extent repercussions leading them to jail, etc.

I've also heard they don't want to take their meds, because they enjoy the 'highs' so much, they don't want to lose them. I read what you wrote about the placebo effect the other day, and still can't believe that most medications are not only needed, but also very effective (including mood stabilizers). I have no doubt that many people have chemical imbalances, and that there are often ways to 'chemically' level them out to some extent. I sure don't think therapy alone can solve all problems.

I mean, even the foods we eat affect our moods. I've been eating way too much junk food again lately, and I know I do it more when I'm stressed out. Sugar actually relaxes me, where with some people it makes them hyper. I guess it's the same with drugs - we all react differently to the same medication.

You certainly have gotten to look at life from a totally different perspective, by working at that prison. I think that's a good thing - but can clearly understand how stressful and disillusioning it must be. No way to bury your head in that place.

We had rain here today too. Not too heavy out where we live, but heavier when we went southeast. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know about Flatus's daughter. Thanks for letting us know. They must be devastated.

Today I heard on the radio about a woman having twins with two different fathers. That was a first for me. I'd heard that cats and dogs can have litters with different fathers but I had never heard about that in people. Looked it up and it happens. Of course it has to be faternal twins. It even has a term, heteropaternal superfecundation.

People willing to splurge on New Year's Eve parties again

"Liquor retailers. More than 40% of all sparkling wine is consumed between Thanksgiving and New Year's, according to the 2010 Wine Market report from beverage publication Impact. Those sales fizzled a bit during the recession but have made a comeback this year. For the 52 weeks ended Nov. 28, sparkling wine sales were up 7% to $459 million, according to market research firm SymphonyIRI Group." http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/2010-12-30-splurge30_ST_N.htm?csp=obnetwork

Something we might want to consider in our New Year practices:

.Turmeric Health Benefits: Have a Happy New Year With Turmeric

"The bottom line that the therapeutic advantages of turmeric and curcumin are almost too numerous to list. An overview published in Advanced Experimental Medical Biology in 2007 states that, "Curcumin has been shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer activities and thus has a potential against various malignant diseases, diabetes, allergies, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and other chronic illnesses.""

All things considered our recovery from the blizzard is going remarkably well...

Everything is getting better daily...the
road crews did a really good job with the amount of snow...

there is supposed to be a warm up to 40 through Sunday then rain, then
dropping down to 30 again...the problem we would need a week of 50 degrees to get rid of
the snow...not just a couple of days...I am hoping that it gets foggy, since fog eats snow
very quickly...

The Flatus family loss is very sad, seems that
such occurences are all to frequent, especially
at this time of year...

I had a close friend while in law school, he was a Rabbi & while we were in class
one day he went home & found his wife dead, hanging in a closet...it was just by sheer luck that he had gone home before his kids came from school & found her, not them...he had what appeared to be a perfect family, a well-respected Rabbi at a large synagogue, you just never know what is really going on in people's lives...

Here's one of those great stories of human love

in contrast to the loathsome Vick...no rehab can ever change my opinion of him...but now that he's a 'winner' there are
those that ignore his hateful actions...as for
Obama...well, he's not unlike lots of football
fans that are prepared to overlook Vick's acts in the pursuit of winning(consider the source, remember his loathsome attitude toward Hillary during the primary)...I can assure you that if Vick turned out to be a bust in his 'comeback' there would be no words of recognition...

I have to bring my Tundra to the doctor this morning. My check engine light came on last week. She only has about 138,000 miles on her but I'm hoping to get 300,000. I bet they will find a lot that needs to be done to her.

Carol said...

Truck was huffing and puffing coming to the
Toyota place. I thought ut oh something
serious must be wrong with her. Then I noticed I
had her in drive 2. Whew! I've never been able to keep a vehicle
going with this many miles on it.

Anonymous said...

Carol, Hope you Tundra is going to be with you for a while. Let us know what they say.

I finally got to go back and read your links from this morning, and all I could think about first one was 'WOW'. That rich guy made so much sense, but it sure doesn't make our future look too bright.

After I read the one by Dr. Weil about turmeric, I went rummaging through my vitamin drawer and founds some I had ordered from Swanson's, but never opened. I must have seen how high in antioxidants it was and then forgot again. I'm thinking of trying Curcumin though, because it's the most potent part of it.

It's harder to find good fruits and vegetables in the winter, plus I don't seem to crave them as much. I seem to go for the more consolidated calories when it's cold.

Anonymous said...

BTW, those Toyota trucks back in the 80s used to make it too 200,000 miles fairly regularly.

Carol said...

Chloe, it was an oxygen sensor. I was figuring it might need a kidney or liver transplant. It was driving great but I'm not used to anything lasting. I figure everything is programmed to self destruct.

The lady at the fix it counter at the Toyota place said she seen some of their vehicles that 4-500,000 miles on them. I guess I'll move my expectations up.

I've never been one who wants a new vehicle every 4-5 years. I liked not having a vehicle note. Unfortunately, I needed a new one because they didn't last.

Carol said...

I went over to a friends to bring her a BD gift. I never know what to get her but she just loved this smoked brisket I brought to her, left over from our Christmas party. She also loves my BBQ sauce so I got her a big smoked brisket and made her some BBQ sauce to use with it. She can divide it up and freeze it for later. She loved my gift.

Sams has a great smoked brisket and it's better than I can do myself and a lot less work.

Carol said...

When I was visiting with my friend, I shared that article I linked about New Year's resolution for the rich. She shared with me an article in Vanity Fair that Cher wrote.

Cher says she has lots of money and she should pay more taxes. There are many others in the rich category who agree, all except those rich greedy guys in our government. Look at Bill Gates and his rich friends, they are certainly generous. Even the Facebook guy.

One thing they all agree on is that they aren't comfortable handing that money to our government. Our government isn't even comfortable managing that money. I think almost everyone would be more comfortable paying more taxes if that money wasn't being quandered away by those idiots in our government.

Certainly enjoyed temps in the 70s today. I don't care if it is winter.

One of my 2011 New Year's goals is to learn how to become more organized. That talent is incorporated in some people's DNA. Some of us, unfortunately, were born with CF wedged in ours. (That means cluster F.) I was one of those unfortunates.

My son and his family left about noon today. It was fun to have them here for several days but glad to get back to our routine too. I put them up at Embassy Suites for 5 nights. My DIL has MS and is in a wheelchair full time. ES's has roll in showers which she needs. The 3 teens spent the nights with us. We have 2 rooms and bath down in finished basement and that was their little efficiency. They went to ES's for full breakfast every morning. That way, I got out of cooking breakfast for the crew. My son wanted to ski and take the kids skiing so bad. I strongly encouraged him to get ski lessons for the kids first. He ignored my suggestion and the first day they went skiining, the youngest girl's ski boots didn't fit. She wound up crying in pain and they all came home - did not ski. 13 y/o did not want to try again, but the others went back up on the mountain the next day and tried again. Son and 18 y/o's boyfriend did find. 18 y/o turned her knee and did not get to ski for long.

Yesterday, I took the 3 teens on the commuter train to Santa Fe. My son drove he and his wife there. It was a fun day. About 2 pm started snowing really hard. Had to cut our day short and come home early. Still, they all got to visit SF and they loved the train ride and the snow too.

I had all 3 sons and families for dinner last night to celebrate DIL's b'day.

Now, got to get ready for the trip. Will be glad to get away and just relax and fix no meals.

Carol, I work so hard to get organized too. It seems that the more I work at becoming organized the more things seem unorganized.

I taped a TV show the other day called "ADD and loving it" about adults who are ADD. I am definitely ADD. I have every characteristic. My youngest son who was here is also ADD. He takes medication for it. I don't take meds for it but I already do all the things they say to do to work with the disorder. I have always felt "out of step" with the world and now I know why.

Chloe, I had one of those Toyota trucks that made it to 350 plus miles. We kept passing it around in the family. My middle son finally sold it for about $500. It was a great truck. Its only problem was the transmission. I had to replace it 3 times. It was a 1981 and we all drove it until about 1995.

My son and family are on the road tonight. They just closed I40 going east to Santa Rosa NM. Fortunately the kids were already through that part. I just talked to my son and it took them 5 hours to go 200 miles- very slick. They have a dodge ram with 4 W drive. Dear friends, keep them in your prayers. They are spending night in OK City tonight. I hope they get there before midnight.

Carol said...

We'll do that Jan. I know there is some bad weather going thru the mid section of the country tomorrow. We are suppose to get it. I hope they get home before that storm hits.

Yep Jan, I think most of my problem with organization is ADD. It used to be ADHD but when I knocked out the hyperthyroid, it dropped down to just ADD, no more H. I do miss that H because when you speed up ADD, it's a little more tolerable. You're moving too fast to notice what you are forgetting to do.

Carol said...

Did that program you recorded have any good suggestions on how to deal with the ADD problem? How to start loving it?

I borrowed a copy of Eat, Love, Pray this afternoon. I got close to the end and went out to walk Maggie. When I came back in to start my paused show, I had the remote upside down and stopped it. I tried for a good while to get it back to where I left off but it kept going nuts on me. I finally gave up. I'll try again tomorrow. I found the movie fairly interesting.

Happy Aniversary Mr. and Ms. Chloe!

OK this is a little quiz? Answering it is optional.

How did Mr. catch your eye?

How many years have you been happily married?

What is the most significant thing you've learned about how to live successfully with a spouse?

Anonymous said...

Thanks Carol. (I forgot I'd posted all these dates on a comment I made.)

We'e been married 36 years and still going strong (his words)!
Aside from where we met, which was at work, I don't really have any answer to your important question of learning to live successfully in a long term relationship with another person. But if I had to put it in one word, it would simply be 'compatibility'. I know that doesn't sound very romantic, but it is - and he still treats me the same way he did when we first met (maybe even better).

The best part of being married for a long time is that you share the same memories, and you still see each other the same way you were when you first met.

You said you're leaving? Where are you two love birds headed for now? The resting and no cooking part sounds great, wherever it is.

Is John back to normal?

I've done that upside down (in the dark) remote thing too, Carol. It is so annoying. Hope you can find where you left off.

Anonymous said...

Jan, I was surprised when you said you often feel out of step with the world. Me too - except I usually put it a different way: I feel like a square peg that others try to fit into a round circle.

I'm going to look up the ADD program you watched, to see if I can find anything on it. I'm sure there's no lack of information on the web though.

Carol, I used to be really hyper too, but no thyroid problem. Just slowed down some as I've gotten older. I also need to make an organization pledge for New Years - have been thinking about it a lot. I need to stop thinking ad start doing (another problem I need to work on - that and throwing away a bunch of things).

Yum! That sounds like a great meal.

We're staying home with all the little ones tonight also. I won't start cooking until morning though, and I'm hoping that the fireworks are not too loud tonight. Em can sleep through the loudest thunderstorms (although one of my pups is terrified of them - and fireworks), but I'm not sure about what she'll do when the fireworks start. Last year she was fine though.

I agree Carol, with what you said about fate, luck, and dedication being important.

Happy New Years Eve to all.

We have been busy getting ready and packing. I made a list and just now checked the last thing off the list. Whew! If I don't have a list I forget something.

It is 10 pm here. I will probably be asleep at midnight. We had a quiet evening in and having soup. I cleaned out the fridge and made soup last night and we are having it again. We are having the coldest temp today and tonight for Dec. It is supposed to get down to 7 degrees F tonight. The high today was 25 degrees. Soup is good on a night like this.

A very happy anniversary Chloe and hubby.

We will probably have some black eyed peas in New Orleans tomorrow.

Here in NM, people eat posole (hominy) and green chili stew for New Years - for good luck. We try to eat both to cover all bases.

Yes, we all did make it through the year.

Chloe, you are lucky that Em is such a good sleeper.

Your meal sounds great Carol.

BTW, my son and his family made it home safely. They were on the road a long time yesterday. They had ice and snow on the road all through NM.

Did you all hear about the tornado in Cincinatti this morning. That tornado happened about 20-30 miles from where we lived just before moving to NM.

that is Cincinatti, Arkansas. It is a little town of about 400.

I won't be taking my computer with me this time, so I won't be around here for a while. I will miss all of you, but have decided to be disconnected on the trip.

Good night and another Happy New Year!

I read about that tornado, Jan. It was horrible.

You and John have a great trip and New Year too.
We'll miss you.

ps Em 'did' sleep through the fireworks.

New Day

I enter this new year with enthusiasm!
This is a new day at the start of a new year, and I choose a new way of being. I choose to be free of the limiting thoughts of the past and to not allow outworn habits or beliefs to control my life.

Perhaps I am guided to try something I have not tried before or go somewhere I've never been. If so, I open my mind to divine direction and guidance, and I accept these new experiences as loving gifts. I look for and find the blessings they bring--blessings of new relationships, hidden talents and the fullness of success.

I am excited about this new beginning. Through the presence of God in me, my life is brimming with unlimited possibilities for good.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.--Psalm 40:3

Thanks Carol.
Perfect for New years.
A tough order, but a good one to strive for.

Hope you all had a good day!

Now Chloe, if we can only accomplish that??

I ate plenty of blackeyed peas and cabbage and besides the good luck and good health their suppose to bring, I'm afraid there are other less desirable side effects, and Maggie is trying to hide under the covers to escape the fireworks.

A neighbor, a couple of places down from here, came out to shot their fireworks. Poor Maggie. We had to retreat to the safe room. She feels safer in the bedroom under the covers.
