Here's Abigail
This is Abigail. She is 5 1/2 months old. She is so much fun. She loves to roll over. Her parents had her ears pierced Sunday. It is a custom in the Hispanic culture here in NM to pierce baby's girls ears. Her mom, Amie, and my granddaughter makes her food. I fed her peas yesterday and she loved them.

I took this pic of Abigail about 2 weeks ago. It is my favorite one. So she was 5 mo's old in that pic.
Wow, that's one darling baby girl Jan!
Jan, I am so glad that I decided to check back in before shutting down.
Abigail is a beautiful baby, and so happy! Thank you so much for posting the pic. I still can't believe she's 5 1/2 months already. Time really does fly.
You're a very lucky woman Jan. What a doll!
You know Jan, this is perfect timing for a happy baby posting. Every time I get on the computer, I see more disheartening news.
Who can look at that beautiful baby girl, and not feel great!
See you all tomorrow.
Jan, is she Bill's GD?
Abigail is such a happy looking baby girl, Jan...you & your family are blessed...she is a cutie...
Jan,
A great looking baby, congrats.......but can't we start having some "barons" around the swamp.......anyway...yipeeeee another Pink.!!!
Baron in spanich= male.....
Hello Coreen, is your power continuing to hold out? And how was your concert the other night?
Yep Solar, you are drowning in the ladies.
Thank you all for the complements that I will pass on to Abigail's parents.
Carol, she is Terry's granddaughter.
Solar, soon, I will post a pic of my great grandson. I am just learning to post pictures.
So far so good, Carol...and though it has been
unpleasantly hot & humid, supposed to break
the humidity overnight at least for a few days
til the weekend...
And I never got to go see Kenny Vance, (he was in the original Jay & the Americans) it was
on Friday when my electricity was still out...so I sent my friends w/o me...they called
from the concert when he was seeing 'cara mia'(one of my favs)so I could hear it...they said it was really good, place was filled with 'old' people....like our age!!! & when they sang in the still of the nite, he invited whoever wanted to...to dance in the aisles...hopefully next time they come
to CT we can go again....
Larry King is retiring. Oh rats, I guess his wife will have to give up the pool man or whatever he was.
Sorry, it was the baseball coach.
Mamma used to say, "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all." Yeah, she really did say that. It's kinda amusing because she never actually followed that advice herself and if I followed her advice, I wouldn't have anything to say lately.
It seems the Universe is trying to tell me that I have to do something about this job. Most of my friends and family have told me that over and over for the last 5 years now. Ask Mary. Being tormented over my entire vacation, when I really didn't need any other stressors to deal with, was one thing. One evening big sis came into my room and woke me up to give me a big hug. She was expressing her sympathy over what I have to do with my job, not what we were doing for SF. She said she didn't know how I could deal with being constantly interrupted all day long with such intense medical situations. I told her I don't have any choice. I don't think SF problem would be so overwhelming if I had a normal job.
Last night security called me all night about new inmates coming in. Some with diabetes on insulin and one with chest pain. It started getting really bad about 7p and continued all night. I was awakened every two hours from midnight until 5a The last call was past time for me to get up.
My hospital tried to get me a tiny little bit of help recently but it actually made me more work, undoing the orders the other NP wrote, that won't work within a correctional facility. One order almost killed one of my inmates. It wasn't because it would have been an unreasonable order under normal circumstances but it was dangerous considering we are operating in a correctional facility. That is something that only years of experience, working in corrections, can teach.
Jan, Abigail is a real cutie. Like Chloe said, I can't believe she is already 5 1/2 mos. old. I'm getting really excited about going to see my grandchild next week.
Looking forward to seeing a pic of your g-grandson Jan - also more of little Abigail.
You know, this russian spy story is going to make one heck of a great movie. I'm sure the work on the script will get started soon.
The innocence of the so-called 'femme fatale' in the image that's going around is striking. I sometimes forget that these things take place anywhere else 'except' in the movies. I guess America has it's own undercover spies over there too. It's mind boggling that people can live their lives like that. NY suspect dubbed femme fatale of Russian spy case
There's a link to childhood (and others) pics of Elena Kagan above this article. I had to take a double take of the pic of her when she was 9 - the one with her mother. She looks almost identical to her mom (in that pic) today.
.. Of course I didn't mean the femme fatale innocence - but instead, I meant to say 'how innocent (and normal) she looks in the picture. It's deceiving (like so many other things in this world).
Carol, Hope you have a long Fourth of July weekend coming up, so you have a chance to catch up on some rest. (If that's possible, with them calling you from work all the time)
" I was awakened every two hours from midnight until 5a The last call was past time for me to get up. "
Carol, this is terrible. You have to have a good night's sleep to be functional and safe. Your supervisors are taking advantage of the situation. Is there anyone at the top you can talk with about this. You might want to check your job description.
"they called
from the concert when he was seeing 'cara mia'(one of my favs)so I could hear it.."
Coreen, You have some good friends. You are rich!
Chloe,
Interesting about the woman Russian spy. I think some of the most famous spies have been women. I think women probably make good spies as they sort of "fly under the radar" in terms of the suspician factor. People probably tend to trust women more - like you said Chloe that Femme fatale thing.
Thanks Chloe for noting that that link about the spy had pics of Elena Kegan. She sure looks like her mother.
"Mamma used to say, "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."
Carol, my mother had the same saying.
You can see why it is hard for me to stay away from Abigail. She is really a mama's girl. If I am holding her and she is looking at my face and I talk to her, she will look at me. If I quit talking to her she looks for and at her mother.
Elizabeth Edwards is going to be on Larry King tonight. I saw her interview on a morning show. I would like to know what you all think.
I don't know what to say about what Elizabeth Edwards has been through Jan. It's just to sad to even imagine.
"As life goes on, Elizabeth continues to fight the breast cancer she battled during John's affair, though she says it's gotten worse.
She now has tumors growing in her legs, spine and skull, but continues to remain positive, telling People, "It's less frightening than you think; it can't migrate to your brain." Elizabeth Edwards, speaking out for first time since split, talks cancer, John's affair and Rielle
Those childhood pics that were part of my earlier link seem to have disappeared, but this article shows one of the whole family.
The Kagan Family: Left-Leaning and Outspoken
Jan, It's good to hear that little Abigail is so close to her mom. When does she have to go back to work? And then, who'll be taking care of Abby (does anyone call her that yet?)
Chloe, she went back to work when Abigail was 6 weeks old. Amie's husb is an EMT and works 3 days on and 3 days off (or something like that) so he is home with Abigal some days. Abigail is in day care about 3 days a week. They have made it clear to family that she is to be called Abigail. When they go to school, that may change.
I like everything I read and hear about Elena Kagan. She has the potential for a great impact on the Supreme Court and on the country because of her age.
Chloe thanks for link on Eliz E. That is what she said on the morning show. Some people are trying to make her out to be a "monster." but she countered that this morning by saying that she realizes people are going to say what they will say. She has certainly kept her cool in all this. Now she just wants to spend time with her children and live each day. I liked that she said she does not live her life thinking about how much time she has left - and that is no way to live a life. She said she is friendly with John and she wants her children to love him and see the good things about him. She could be bitter but that certainly was not evident in her interview this morning.
Wow Jan, that must have been hard for Amie to go back when she was so young. Looks like it hasn't bothered Abigail at all though. Maybe it's good for them to be in social environment like they're going to be in throughout their school years - actually probably their entire life.
I want Emma to go mornings, a few days a week, to pre-school (after she's potty trained), for that very same reason. But she is a very attached to me (and grampa) right now, and I know it's going to be difficult for us.
I've become even more aware of how different these babies (and kids) all are. Each one of them has their own special little personality. Emma has such a clever sense of humor (her and I spend a lot of time laughing), and I get such a kick out of her.
It won't be long now, before she's completely outsmarting me - what am I saying, she already is! She's got all the personality characteristics that I most love. She's funny, sensitive, kind and quick to learn. Of course, she's also stubborn and single minded (but will compromise) - that will get her what she needs later on in life.
Carol, hope you check in soon to let us know how you're doing.
You too, Ivy and Coreen - and Solar and Mary.
Chloe, It is wonderful that you are home with Emma. I think babies and children do better when a parent can be at home with them, at least that 1st year. It just is not possible for some parents. When Abigail was 2 months old, her dad had an emerg appendectomy and so was home with her for about 4 weeks. The 1st 2 weeks she had to be in day care as he was recovering and could not care for her. He is very involved with her and with her care. She is in daycare about 26 hrs a week b/c he is able to be home with her.
Emma sounds like a wonderful little girl. I would love to see her. I am a nut for babies and little kids. I also love just watching little kids. they are so spontaneous and real.
