Chloe, thank you for the new post. I love it. John Lennon was amazing. I did not appreciate him or his music until just a few years ago. Also love the 2nd picture.
Sorry for not being around much lately. I have been working on a quilt, trying to get it finished and been helping my sister get her quilt ready for hand quilting. She will do the hand quilting on hers. We had to put it together in a quilt sandwich this morning. That means laying out the backing, putting the batting over the backing and then laying the quilt top on top of the other two. Then laying "the sandwich" on the dining table for basting the "sandwich". It took us a couple of hours to do this. Thank heaven we have wood floors and a long table.
I have had 4 days off. It has been wonderful. This statement makes me think it might be time to retire but then I know after a couple of months I will want to work again. I am just going to appreciate the long weekends.
Your life sounds wonderful, and it's obvious that your sister being with you has been such a good thing. I admire your passion for the the things you do, and envy your having an artistic outlet that you love so much... your quilting.
One of these days you'll be ready to retire. When that day happens, you'll be ready.
I will ask my doc to give me an appetite stimulant. I started the cymbalta again. Concerned with abrupt. Withdrawal. Still can't eat any healthy foods. Still no appetite. My weight loss scares me. With the loss of weight, I have no energy. My houdebmatebisbconcerned and asks me if therevisvanything he can get for me. He did get me a case of insure plus. I sip ok that but its not easy to drink either.
Will be happy if I can get my eating beck to normal.
Like I mentioned on the last thread, the Cymbalta is also a noraepephrine re-uptake inhibitor. She may want to change that, because some of the anti-depressants cause weight gain.
Hi Carol, I agree with Chloe. Please see your doctor about the Cymbalta. I too am concerned about your weight loss and lack of appetite. Your roommate is concerned too.
Hey Coreen, what the hell is up with your Jets. They've put a ton of money on getting Decker, Harvin, and now it's reported that they've traded for Brandon Marshall. I keep hearing that the owner, Woody Johnson, has told the new GM to go aggressively after Darrelle Revis if he hits the open market. That will leave little if any money left for a quarterback… WTF??!!
Seriously, I'd love to see the Jets give my Patriots a run for their money in their division once again. But it's not gonna happen if Woody keeps spending money on everything BUT a quarterback… putz.
I heard that the Saints dropped jimmy Graham, piers Tomas and Colton. Don't know why. I think they should have dropped the QB first. I'm going to be looking fort a new fav team.
Hey guys happy to report that it looks like winter has finally 'left the building'...
The sun is so much stronger & spring officially begins this weekend, so whatever happens it has to get better...Renee, I would suspect the same for you Renee...
There is still much to much snow all around, but around here we have managed to survive it...But you know I won't be happy until it all melts away...
Renee, yes it appears the NYJ are all back on revis island...& yes it would be nice for them to have a QB...around here the sports talkers were even pushing the idea that Drew Brees could be the one...but I suspect that was just idle chitchat & wishful thinking...
You know it is now time for the only sport that really matters to me...& no surprise but it seems that most of CT is Yankee country, not part of Red Sox nation...recent Q poll...& Renee that is proving a little touchy since I am close to a die-hard Red Sox fan & he really doesn't like the Yankees!...
Carol, no idea who you could become a fan of, but for me I am a 'homer' all the way, considering CT(Fairfield County) is really a suburb of NY, those are always my first choice in sports teams...
Hope you keep us current with what is happening, in the meantime please know you are always in my thoughts...
Jan, Chloe, & Solar if you are still hovering anywhere nearby, I still like to check in to know how you all are doing...
Coreen… yeah spring has finally sprung here… but it's been the winter from hell in more ways than one for me. There's still about 2 1/2 feet of snow on the ground here…. but that's a lot better than the 5-4 feet we had a few weeks ago.
Rick of course… has loved it. We never got the usual mini thaws we get throughout the winter. It was brutally cold… but it made the skiing conditions fantastic. Rick just bundled up and had one of the best skiing seasons he's ever had.
I'm looking forward to our new and improved (hopefully) Red Sox this upcoming season.
Other than a cold or two, Rick and I have been fine health wise. But we had death and sickness surrounding us this winter.
It started with Rick's best friend losing his mother. Then a good friend of ours lost his battle with cancer shortly after the first of the year. Then another friend lost her life with having a stroke in the middle of the night. Then a good friend's husband succumbed to a rare lung disease. Then I found out another long time good friend has inoperable brain cancer. Finally I went to the funeral of an uncle this past Thursday that had Alzheimer.
I hope I don't have to go to another funeral for awhile now.
Jan… I have managed to weave this winter. I developed new scarves made out of hand painted rayons, novelty yarns, and bamboo. I LOVE them… making them is what's been keeping me sane the last few months.
Renee, What a winter you and Rick have had. A great one for Rick and skiing. Good for Rick. And you have made lemonade out of this lemon of a winter for you in your weaving. Your scarves sound beautiful. Would love to see pictures of your scarves.
So sorry to hear of all the losses you and Rick have had.
We have had more snow falls in ABQ this winter since we have lived here. Most have been small and melted fast. The last one was 6 inches and stayed around for 2 days. We are so fortunate to have amazing weather. We have a neighbor who moved here from Massachusetts last year. He was quite happy to be here this winter. He and his wife are about our age and retired.
Sorry I haven't been communicating on the blog. I have nothing interesting to share. I have trouble using my tablets and it is frustrating. That's might be what happened to Ivy. I'm tired of watching TV. I have no appetite so cooking you up is pretty much out of the. I can't find anything productive to do that I want to do, that I want yo do. Room mate is still working out.
Greta here. Carol's sorry she hasn't been on here in a while. She's had a lot to deal with, lately. She doesn't want to lose contact with anyone. Please keep in touch. My house-boy is still working. He helps me with unhappy habits. I, Greta try to spend time with her, as much as life allows. My left eye is very blurred, making walking & reading difficult. Please don't give up on her nor the blog. She is going to be better one day soon. Eye dr appointment is Thursday. Trying to schedule cataract surgery soon. Please keep her in your prayers. Still waiting to settle farm business, a major stressor. Be well. We will try to post soon.
Doc ordered a new antidepressant that increase sleep aids in appetite, and is a moanor antidepressant. Hope it works. Pill is remeron. Have a good day and continue with the prayers.
Hi Carol and Greta. Thanks so much for writing. It is good to hear from both of you. We just got back from Arkansas. This time to see our accountant there. We also saw family. John's brother has been ill and is in a rehab unit. I saw son, DIL and granddaughters.
My DIL is finishing an online masters program in creative writing. She has lived with multiple sclerosis for over 30 years and is in a wheelchair full time. She is writing a book about her experience with MS. She is doing it for her thesis and plans to publish it. Hard to believe she had a serious infection a few months ago and the doctors did not expect her to live through it.
Carol, I believe in miracles and I believe one can happen for you too. Love you so much.
I'm still dealing with depression. The new pill hasn't done much yet. Its remeron, an nnothe antidepressant. I am eating bette but still very depressed because I just can't do what I used to do.
Dylan and I walked sat and Sunday down the camp road, not a long distance.
I seem to like sweets because they are easier to eat. Roomy not eating a good diet, I like sweets. Dylan is cooking some meat patties that are going down better, but I have problems with other meats.I still drink about 2-3 ensure pluses. That gives me 1000 calories a day I gained 4 pounds at my last dr visit. My truck has been involved in 2 wrecks recently. One, was when roomy was driving. A guy on a bicycle ran into him. Did a good bit of damage, strange. It was his fault. He ran a red light and a car in front and to the left of roomy kept him from seeing the guy. A week or so later I backed into someone at a quick stop. I looked in all directions but they pulled up in my blind spot. Getting it repaired next week. The bike did the most damage. I did damage to the van I backed into. That doesn't help my depression.
Sorry about the mistakes. Hard to edit. My cataract in my left eye is worse and seriously affects my vision. Have an eye dr apt Thursday. Greta will bring me. I'm now afraid to drive except for short distances. Difficult to blog but will try.
Love you guys. Wish I could communicate better. Also depresses me.
Sorry about all your friend's losses this year. It's been the same in my friend group. I was so fortunate with my stroke and I am still depressed and whining because I'm not the girl I used to be. So much I need to do but can't that depresses me. During the day I'm tired, not tired enough to sleep like inwould like to do and too tired to do anything.
My truck has been in 2 auto accidents in the let mo. One was when my roomy was driving. A bicycle ran a red light and hit him. There was a vehicle on his right front so he didn't see the bike. The bike got the ticket. Then a week later I backed into a van at a qas station/quick stop. I looked all around before I backed out but that van was in a blind spot.
The bicycle did the most damage. No damage on my truck from the van but I put a dent on it. I hop I will be able to get insurance without goin broke.
Carol, sorry to hear about the accidents in your truck. I can imagine the depression must be awful. I am glad you gained some weight. I went through a depression when had some deaths and a divorce. It was a terrible time. I did get some serious counseling and I feel it saved my life.
Carol, just so you know...you have more inner strength than just about anyone I have ever known...Remember we are all close by if & when you need to reach out...
Miss hearing your 'southern accent' in an unexpected phone call...anytime you want to talk, you know how to reach me...
All is well in the northern realm, finally winter is over, even though there is plenty of snow piles...& no flooding, the snow melt is gradual & does not cause flooding...
Spring is still struggling to make an appearance, but it has to get better soon...
Carol, How to respond? So good to see you are writing something. Bad news from you is better than no news from you. I do remember the unending rain and soggy yards.
Dear friends, just want to let you know that Carol is in the hospital. She is having a lot of pain but I think from reports from her friends she is stable. Prayers are appreciated.
I hope you guys are still on here sometimes. Carol is in the hospital. She is recovering but in a lot of pain. She had a bad fall and broke some ribs and her scapula (shoulder bone). Actually, she is now in the rehab unit of the hosp. She has about 3 hours of PT daily. She would love to hear from you if you can call. My e-mail address is janwayland@comcast.net
Hi Jan, saw Carol's pic on FB...I would be happy to speak with Carol...tried to email you with my phone numbers, but it can back as undeliverable...my email is coreenesq@sbcglobal.net, if you want to contact me...
Jan, please feel free to get in touch and in the meantime...
Carol phoned me this past Sunday...Was happy to hear from her...She is still in the hospital after her recent setback, she fell at home, & injured her shoulder, ribs again...she is getting pt daily in an effort to regain her balance, strength, & is in a lot of pain...may be released the end of this week...
It sounds like a long hard road to recovering again, but we all know that Carol is one of the strongest people one could ever meet...
Carol, you continue to be in my thoughts & prayers... And any of you who check in, I know Carol would like to hear from you as she continues with her recovery efforts...
Coreen, I talked with Carol yesterday and she said she has talked with you. So happy you two made contact. I left a couple of comments on the previous thread, Carol.
Hope everyone of you is doing well!
I haven't been keeping up with much on the net., so current event are kind of foreign to me right now.

Don't wait, Carol. Go see your doctor instead of calling. Once you start eating a little, you'll start eating more... but you need help starting.
Don't wait until you lose more. Turn this thing around.
Like I mentioned on the last thread, the Cymbalta is also a noraepephrine re-uptake inhibitor. She may want to change that, because some of the anti-depressants cause weight gain.

Coreen…
Congrats on the Jets landing Revis. I have much respect for him and will have fond memories of his year with the Patriots.
but… and you knew this was coming :)
the Jets still need a quarterback...
I heard that the Saints dropped jimmy Graham, piers Tomas and Colton. Don't know why. I think they should have dropped the QB first. I'm going to be looking fort a new fav team.
Carol….
LOL… I heard the entire Saints teams was up for auction.
Seriously… I like Drew Brees. Hopefully your team… the Saints or whomever you wish to root for… will do good this upcoming season.

Chloe, are you out there somewhere.
Coreen, hope your snow all melts soon.
Renee, are you busy with your weaving?
Carol, I see Greta on FB and recently Corky friended me. It is good to see what is going on with her.
I am still hanging out here with my sis, John and Ryley. Planning a trip to AR soon to pay a visit to our accountant. It is tax season.

Just wrote a long post and lost it my typical luck lately. Too much work to rewrite.
I'm going to write short posts and send them beforevi lose them. Skill can only type with my right index finger.
Renée, I am sorry about the Saint's roster. I'll try to stay a fan to see how they fare. Hate to pick a new team.
Will really miss they guys the Saints got rid of.
My truck has been in 2 auto accidents in the let mo. One was when my roomy was driving. A bicycle ran a red light and hit him. There was a vehicle on his right front so he didn't see the bike. I don't have collision on my truck. Its too expensive and my truck is 12 years old.
Think God most of your heavy snows have ceased Careen and Renée. Are you in danger of any flooding from the meltdown?
Please check in Chloe.
Carol, sorry to hear about the accidents in your truck. I can imagine the depression must be awful. I am glad you gained some weight. I went through a depression when had some deaths and a divorce. It was a terrible time. I did get some serious counseling and I feel it saved my life.
Carol, have you scheduled your cataract surgery?
Ok, I see where you have an appointment with your eye doc. on thurs. That is good.
Carol, I think short posts are a good idea. I get very frustrated when I write a long one and it gets lost.
Carol, just so you know...you have more inner strength than just about anyone I have ever known...Remember we are all close

And that you have such good friends there to support you is an added blessing...to each of you, thank you...
Anyone here know of a good vegetarian cookbook?
Happy Eastern to everyone here.
Sorry for no communication, I have nothing pleasant to add, I feel like crap,
I am tired of all this rain. Yard is a swamp, too wet to mow,
Carol, How to respond? So good to see you are writing something. Bad news from you is better than no news from you. I do remember the unending rain and soggy yards.
