'What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright...'

Thanks Chloe! Love the pics. She sure has grown up since we last saw her!
Having som trouble seeing today. We were picking sat sumacs from my bushes that re loaded down. Karen is allergic to ed ants and I kept warning hr to watch fo them. They can sometimes be up to your butt crck before yo kno you're standing in a pile. Well, sh as alright but while cuttin som of th fruit, I stuck my head in the bush, reaching for a fruit when my cornea impaled itself on the tip of a tree branch. Yeoow. I had some old eye antibiotic drops my friend instilled in my eye. I already had pain meds so I had everything I needed. It feels better today. If it is bothering me to mow, I go s my y doc.
I had such a hard time getting the pics and the video right (and they're just aren't in the order i was going for), but are more or less right.
All but one was Emma's most recent school picture, but the one in the hat was taken in front of her trampoline when it was very cold the other day.
... as you can tell by the outside pic, she is really a Tomboy. Don't let the school pics fool you. :)
Sorry I haven't been around for a while, Carol.
Have been sorta stressed lately... life has a way of doing that to me. I'm fairly sure that M isn't the only HDAD in the house.
That aside, things are going well, and challenges are being overcome.
Hope to hear more how everyone here is doing.
Hey, Carol.
When I was here this morning I didn't notice you were here (before rushing out the door).
Ouch!... hope your eye is doing better. Let us know what the doc says tomorrow.
I've been watching the 'Scandal' series on Netflix for the last week or so... so back to that.
Chloe, Em has grown so much. A beautiful little girl.
Carol, so sorry about your eye accident. That would scare me. Hope all is well with your eye and the rest of you.
Chloe…
what a cutie pie! thanks for posting Emma's pics.
Nothing wrong with a tomboy… they grow up to be self assured around men and don't take any of their crap.
Thanks, Jan and Renee.
Love what you pointed out about tomboy's Renee. We actually have always encouraged her to be free spirited (maybe a little too much?)... especially during play.
Carol, please let us know your eye is OK (and everything else, too).
It's been cold, but it isn't bothering me as much as usual. We spent a big chunk of the summer preparing our home for a more comfortable winter (upgrading our insulation, plenty of areas for our animals to keep warm, etc., etc.).
I thinks that's the big difference here from those in the north... up north they're set up for cold weather when it arrives. It's about life style.
I have on lot of clothes and a heating blanket
My eye seems ok. I used an old ryr antibiotic.
Our doc tripped getting off the bus to the LSU game and broke bothe ankles. She texted that she joine d the Autumn sisters. That's what she calls Greta and I s ine w e. Fall all the time.
Love the Emms pics Chloe. She has really grown up. I guess that is a little sad for you.
I've been getting a lof sleep lately. Go to bed by 9p now and sleep thru the night. No TV in my room here but I have my IPad With netflix on it . Just a good as TV.
What els is good on Netflix Chloe? I've seen lof most of the serie I like. Finished th Glades. Hop they make moe. It finished on climax.
Right now I'm watching 'Scandal', Carol, but I know we usually like difference series. I really like it, and it's still running so there will be more to come. It's an intricate political story, from the view of insiders who are always maneuvering... crisis management (and always above the law).
I'll look back and make a list of others I've watch. The choices seem be never ending.
Have you tried 'Fringe'?
There are also many good freebies on Amazon (with your Prime) if you look around on TV streaming there.
Keep warm!
She's a little ham Chloe.
It is cold nights here. Warms a little during the day. Need another car. My car is about worn out. It is a Merc Villager van - 1999. Almost 200,000 miles on it. I have really loved it but have had lots of problems with it in past year. I just hate shopping for another car.
Chloe, Good to see you back here. Hard to believe how little Em has grown since I saw first pic of her. She is a beautiful little girl.
She's always been a ham, Carol. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up in drama class when she get that choice in school later on. A true drama queen in all ways.
Jan, many of the new cars practically drive themselves. Look at the bright side of it, you'll have dependability (and probably more ease) and better gas mileage (most likely).
I think you can get 0 percent financing too... and an extended warranty (if you make them a condition of the buy).
... ha, like I've said in the past, I always end up sounding (unmeaningly) like a sales person.
Sorry about that.
Have a good day everyone!
Snow
It's nice to see beautiful pic of little Emma. Thanks Chloe foe posting thn Chloe, how old was your daughter when she became a pain in the ass to discipline?
Ha, Carol. Amy was never as hard to discipline as Emma has been. Of course we've found out now (first hand) that grand parents back off from much discipline. I now wonder/believe... that can be a problem.
The doctor put her on a low dose of Ritalin, after her ADHD diagnosis came in, and it's already making a huge difference. It hasn't changed anything (she's still hyper) except her ability to focus long enough to stay calmer and think more about what she's doing. (No noticeable side effects either.)
It's so much easier to help her make sense of things now. She's such a happy little girl and I don't need to tell you how much we love her.
If anyone (having trouble putting a post up) wants pictures (or anything) put up here, email it to me and I'll try. (chloe@doubt.com)
I can usually pick up pictures off of Facebook, so if you post it there, I can (probably) also bring it over here (if requested).
Thanksgiving is coming fast! Then Christmas... time flies.
... to answer your question regarding what age disciplining kids gets more difficult, it's when they become teenagers. For one thing, it's almost impossible to know what they're up to.
No matter what age, humans 'always' have a mind of their own. And if they're bound and determined to get away with something, they eventually will.
Forward and beyond!
... have a good day, everyone!
Chloe. You watched the Glades also ,didn't you? What do you think about how they ends that series. If you don't remember. He was getting married .h nt to th hous thy were going to live in and he was shot couple of tins. H couldn't get to his cellphone. Do you remember that?
Carol, it seems like so long ago that I saw that scene in Glades. I think they were trying for a cliff hanger, but it wasn't renewed.
You know I like happy endings, and this show didn't give us any ending at all. So I'd have to say it was a cop-0ut.
I've seen so many shows since, that I have more of an emotional investment in... and I have moved on. But at the time I was surprised and disappointed. It negated everything they were building up to, and left us with nothing.
... there are so many good shows on Netflix (and Amazon), Carol. If you type 'shows like Glades' (or some variation of that) in your search bar, lots of suggestions will pop up (pages and pages).
Sometimes, do your searching on the internet first, before you go to Netlix.
Have you watched 'White Collar'? It's on Nerflix, and there are several seasons.
What's that series about Chloe?
White Collar
Carol,
I looked up something to tell you more about the series. The Facebook page above was the first thing to pop up, so I brought it over.
It's a light, entertaining series, IMO. There are 5 seasons, so it lasts a long time... and you can see it on Netflix (which makes it stream for free... if you've already paid your monthly fee).
Renee, what is your Facebook name?
I'm going to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone now. We're supposed to get about a foot of snow tonight. I have a ton of things to do tomorrow to get ready for the craft show I'm doing on Friday and Saturday. Everyone eat lots of turkey and fixings… enjoy!
Carol… I don't do facebook.
Renee, Happy Thanksgiving to you. Hope the craft show is a great one for you.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
happy Thanks Giving. I'm thankful for my blog friends. Thy have kept mr grounded for years nod entertained nod educated.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I was thankful that twin joined us over at Greta's for lunch I really haven't seen much of her in a ling time. We need to start spending more time together. It just that we make each other anxious when we get together. Didn't have that problem yesterday. Thank you God!
I have a little quiz. Don't get anxious. It not for a grade.
What is your fav thanksgiving dish. What do you make best?what dish do you think is the most diverse when other people make it?
My fav dish is corn bread dsg. I also think it is the most diverse when others make it. Can't think of anything I do better.
I've lost my taste for turkey, Carol, but enjoyed the ham.
As usual, dessert is always most memorable to me... which was pumpkin pie bake with a pecans topping. Best pumpkin pie I've ever had.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Another month, plus, of holidays, then I'm looking forward to starting a New Year. I always love leaving the holidays behind (and the closer we get to Spring, the better). :)
I agree about Pring Chloe! It lifts the meloncololy.
I like Pring colors better also
Spring colors are beautiful, Carol. Add to that, the change in light, and you can't help but feel better. Not to mention it's warmer. Love Spring.
Good to hear you and your sis got along well at Thanksgiving.
I was thinking about what you said about stressing each other when you're together too long. I've noticed that when two people are alike in many ways, they sometimes tend to annoy each other (or maybe the same 'things' annoy them)... at least that's been my experience.
I think maybe that's why a marriage that is going to work, works best when each person has traits that balance the other persons traits. With us, ones calm and takes 'things' as they come (obviously not me!) and the other is more high strung (what I used to call perpetually stressed an worried). :)
Renee,
Hope you let us know how sales are this weekend... have fun!
We were out locally on Friday, and the stores here weren't that crowded. Weird.
Can't think of anything I want right now Chloe except maybe several thousand dollars. Or just enough to be comfortable and help out friends. I don't think they have a Black Friday sale for that
I too hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. My sis and I made several dishes and took to my son and his wife's home. We had a lovely time but it was a lot for my sister and she was not feeling too well afterwards. I think it was the stress of too many people rather than the food. She is better now. I bet she is missing her own children as well. She does not say that, but I feel she probably is.
My favorite dish is sweet potatoes with melted marshmallows. A close second is home made cornbread dressing.
My dish that everyone asks for is a cranberry relish my mother used to make. No one else likes to make it because the cranberries have to be ground with an old fashioned grinder that you grind/turn by hand. A bag of fresh raw cranberries plus one orange/with rind and an apple with peel are ground together. I am the only person in the family who will do this. It is hard work and messy. I make several batches when I make it as it is such a chore. It was very good however and a hit with folks who had never eaten it before.
My sis and I made and took cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish and a pecan pie with home made crust.
Carol, so good that Mary came and had thanksgiving dinner with you all and that the two of you did well together.
Chloe, I don't care for turkey or chicken. In fact, I did not eat any turkey Thanksgiving. I wanted just the fixings.
Carol, I also think that dressing/stuffing is the most diverse dish at Thanksgiving. My 2 DILs make different Dressing than I make and theirs is different from each other. My sis an I made cornbread dressing from our mother's recipe which is pretty southeastern.
Belated happy thanksgiving wishes to everyone...
Had unexpected company this weekend which was great...
This thanksgiving my cousin decided to entertain & had 20+ at her home, mostly our family...actually it went very smoothly...& yes she cooked traditional turkey 21#, ham, ravioli, sweet potatoes, turnips, stuffed mushrooms, several apps & deserts...
looks like everyone here had a good holiday weekend, which is always a good thing...now on to
Christmas!!...which is coming up very quickly since thanksgiving was so late...
My Christmas tree is decorated...need to do the front door wreath & the
driveway poles today, since this is the warmest it will be this week...
And Renee, we only got 2" snow the other day at my house, but just down the road south of the Merritt parkway, nothing, not a speck, it just rained all day...
Jan, sounds like your efforts to
prepare your mom's cranberry relish was successful...keeping at least one family tradition going is always worth it...
Chloe, you are brave to go 'shopping' on black Friday, regardless...apparently there were less crowds because so many stores opened on thanksgiving...
And Carol, always in my thoughts & prayers, & ever thankful that you & this place are here for us to gather...
Best wishes to everyone...
Hi, Coreen.
Sounds like your holidays got a good kickoff. It is so good to hear from you... you've always provided a good chunk of our holiday joy here. We need you.
Everyone, this is it. The countdown to 2015 begins early. Hope to ear how everyone is doing.
Emma was off school all last week, but goes back today (even though it's only half day in the Kindergarten she's in now).
... looking forward to first grade next September. If time keeps flying the way it has been, it won't feel like long. No way to slow down aging (at least for me).
Does Time Fly When You're Getting Old?
The craft fair was a bust for everyone. Not enough customers. The town we were in… which was 10 miles northwest of me… lost power from that snowstorm from Wednesday night to about an hour before we set up at 7am on Friday. Then it got bitterly cold. We all speculated that the weather kept a lot of people away. It's ok. It's all part of the game. I have galleries that will take what I have left over from the fair… so all is not lost.
I LOVE turkey… I LOVE stuffing… put a little gravy on each and I'm in heaven. And of course the next day while at the fair… having a turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce sandwich… YUM!
Coreen, great to hear from you. Look forward to pictures of your beautiful home with Christmas decorations. Your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful.
Renee, sorry to hear your fair did not go as planned. I would guess the cold weather had some influence on the turnout. I don't get out in bad/cold weather unless I have to. Hooray for the galleries.
Chloe, I would swear that time goes faster as we age. Sure seems that way to me.
Carol, you can see how much we all depend on you to keep the swamp going. We all love you.
I agree with you, Jan.
I think you can share some of your Facebook posts here, Carol. There may be a 'share' option (like the one they have on Youtube that lets you share with blogger automatically (?)).
... will look.
Everyone, if you haven't tried sharing a video from Youtube, it's fun to see it work.
Underneath the video's, there is a share button under the video; once you click on that it gives you the option of sharing with 'blogger'. If you click on that, it will automatically put the video at the top of this site, which will head up a new post.
... a lot less work than downloading by hand.
Hi all. Sorry to have stayed away. I have been waiting for Carol.
Carol, where are you? I miss you.
Jan…
if Carol hasn't been on Facebook for awhile also, I'm thinking that she might have some technology issues.
If you have her phone number… maybe giving her a call to let us know what's up would be nice.
I know everyone is busy elsewhere, & its pretty hectic here, but wanted to drop by to wish everyone a Merry Christmas...
Take care all...hope that everyone
is ok...
Renee, Carol is still linking items on FB off & on, other than that I don't know anything current...
Having tech problems again and dont know where to get help
This is not a typical pc
Christmas was nice but things are now goin haywire
Carol, so sorry you are having problems with your computer.
Ghe's a real cutie Chloe
I guess Coreen and Renee enjoyed that supebowlfinale.
