Lots of turkeys with babies running around here. Took these photos the other day through a window. The babies are cute as hell… they look like little walking balls of fuzz.
Talked to my sis who lives in a town close to Dallas. Encouraged her to come visit me. I think she will be here in a few days. The weather here will be cooler the next few days - in the 80s today and lower 90's next few days. It is time for monsoon season.
We will be impacted by Arthur tomorrow. It will not make landfall here in New England…. but it will dump lots of rain. We traditionally go to Rick's family camp on the 4th. But we've all decided to party on Saturday (which will be a beautiful day) instead.
Not sure how much rain we will get from the slowly approaching Arthur storm, it is causing most of the local towns to re-schedule fireworks, but looks like it misses the eastern seaboard...

Thanks for the pics of the ever-so-cute turkey family.
We used the have families of ducks lurking around our neighborhood every summer, because the people down the road have a smallish man-made lake... but haven't seen the in about 3 years.
Also, our bird population, which was really heavy in the spring has gone way down, and bothers me. I can only think the weather is so good up north, that they traveled that way for the summer. I really miss the song birds especially (although there are still a few, just not enough).
Lots of rain, hot, and so the insect population is here to stay. The crickets at night are almost deafening, the loudest and most dense I've ever heard. And the mosquitoes have never been so happy.
I glanced back and noticed I didn't direct my thank you at you (in writing), but it was meant for you. I guess you know that.
Thanks, Renee!... for sharing your turkey family with us. I don't seem to be seeing enough babies this year.
ps Is there any species where the babies aren't beautiful and sweet? Even the wildest animals babies are normally safe to be around (as long as mama doesn't see you getting to close).
My sister just got a new grand baby. There's a pic on my face book. She was due on the 1st of July but didn't come so they induced her yesterday. She had the baby shortly after 10 pm last night.
We're having a thunder bomber right one. . It hit so close a minute ago that Lisa and I both jumped. Maggie is tucked up between us. But I don't think she feels too safe since we jumped higher thn she did
I went to your Facebook page and found a pic of cute little Maggie (I think Greta put it up) but couldn't find one of your sisters new grand baby (I was going to copy it... along with Maggie's pic, and head up a new post with it).
Please let me know if it's there and I'm just not finding it.
... and! Congrats to you, Aunt Carol, and to your sister, on her new grand baby... and also to the happy parents!
Happy Independence Day to all. We too have had some rain - about a 1/2 inch here in the valley.
I just gave John his 4th of July haircut. I have cut his hair since we married. I also trim his beard and his eyebrows. Has anyone noticed that as we age, we get hair in some places and lose hair in some places. Also our eyebrows, nose hairs and ear hairs grow longer - at least on some people. I now have longer little hairs on my chinny chinn chin. I don't have the longer nose or ear hairs and I don't get my chin and upper lip waxed, but maybe I should.
Jan, the few pubs I have left get caught on my poise pads and ripped out. That's a real treat.
We are going cheap this holiday and just doing hot dogs hamburgers some home made chilli for the dog and. All other toppings. Greta is making a watermelon, cantaloupe fruit salad and I made my spinach artichoke dip. For dessert ...guess. Moollineum crunch ice cream.
Well the 4th may have been a washout along the east coast, today is starting out with a blast of Canadian air, sunny, brisk breeze & fresh air...not at all like so many past hot & humid 4th of July weekends around here...
We had a lovely 4th. Had early dinner at son and family's home - hamburgers grilled outside, watermelon and fresh peach cobbler. I made the cobbler. 25 year old grandson gave it the seal of approval. It was good. Got the recipe online and was from Southern Living, 1972. That was a good year.
Monsoon season is here. We have woken to the earth cleansed by rain the last 3 mornings. Everything has been washed clean.
We sit outside on the swing most mornings and watch the hummingbirds feed on the 3 feeders we put out, and the flowering plants. Sitting outside watching the birds sure does feed my soul.
Well, the heat came back with fury yesterday Th seems to always be one nicer day in July so we can get thing done that we say.. I'll do that on a cold day in July. I didn't get anything done that day but eat which I do need to do.
Jan, We went to Chile's for ribs, and then relaxed a large part of the afternoon watching Elementary (a version of Sherlock Holmes)... (after taking Emma to the park for a little play time, where they also have one of those concrete pads that shoots of different areas of water for the kids... our local version of a water park).
It's been a good weekend.
Glad to hear everyone had a good 4th.
One thing I didn't mention is that fireworks are legal in our small area, and it sounded like a war zone... the fireworks have gotten even more unimaginably loud. But it still didn't interrupt our sleep, so that's that.
Where we live you can burn trash (if there's not a drought), fire guns (any kind) and there are no property restrictions. That's Magnolia for you, like it leave it. Everything goes, but luckily there is more than enough law enforcement, so crime isn't a problem... don't even need to lock our doors (as long as we don't tell the bad guys!)
Just got home fom my long camp weekend. I slept in the recliner for two days and could barely gt up this morning. Greased up with aspercream and I'll sleep in my bed tonight. I have to admit that I'm not terribly impressed with my tempurpedic ego bed. I often wake up in pain after sleeping in it. But I do often keep the head elevate. I need to sleep totally flat
We can burn trash or yard stuff here unless there is a burn ban on and that doesn't happen often.
Carol, I am reading the book. The author says this line "Orange is the new black" early in the book. She is waiting to serve her sentence and she hears that all her friends are wearing orange for some holiday - in support of her having to go to prison.
Lisa told me tat that she may be leaving this coming wk. Maggie and I aren't ready for her to go. My pool even likes her company. did you know that a pool can get lonely too.
I did have a great weekend at the camp with my friends. Camp also loves the company.
Jan… Our 4th started out with a power outage. We grabbed Rick's father and went to a neighboring town's restaurant and had a big hot breakfast. When we got home the power was back on. But it also started to rain. By noontime it was raining cats and dogs because of that hurricane. Rick spent the rest of the day working on financial stuff and reading. I wove.
Our celebration happened on the 5th. We went to Rick's family camp. We had grilled rib-eye steaks, macaroni salad, toss salad, and lots of watermelon. There's a sauna at the camp. We took saunas and jumped in the lake. Had good conversation with family. We had a good day.
Chloe… Fireworks are legal here in NH. Because we live on the border of Massachusetts(where they're illegal), we see lots of Mass cars up here a couple of days before the 4th buying them.
We can't burn trash here. We can burn brush… but only with a fire dept. permit.
Jan… I've not read that book, but I have seen the author interviewed on television. From my understanding the line "Orange is the new Black" is in reference to the fact that our country's prisons are largely populated by blacks.
I LOVE orange… not the bright color… but I love the color of pumpkins and rusts. It's the color of fall. I sell lots of orange and rust scarves.
Wow, what a great Independence Day (long) weekend everyone had.
Yesterday we made a big batch of spaghetti and meat sauce, and it was sÅÅÅ good. The best part is that I'll be able to keep eating it for lunch all week. That's a great benefit for someone who (almost) hates to cook (wasn't always like that though).
... I really am enjoying the serenity of being alone today. Mondays are no longer a drag now that I don't have a regular job I have to go off to for the week.
Carol, I don't know much about 'Orange is the new Black'... mostly what I've heard you guys say about it. But Jan's and Renee's explanation sounds right. It's probably not something I'd ever watch. (?)
I finish Elementary (until there's a new season in the distant future), and am now happily settled down to watching that 'Mentalist' series I've mentioned before. Season 2 seems more intricate than season one did. I like the series a lot.
Renee, Until you mentioned it, I never thought much about liking the color orange. But when you said you like the color of pumpkins and rust (them being natural colors of nature), I realized what nice colors they are, when you think of it that way.
I like drab colors (bright ones too, though), especially in oranges and greens. My favorite green is what I call 'Army green'. Not always easy to find.
... Carol, glad you mentioned that we do have fire bans during droughts. Also, of course when I mentioned burning trash, I meant mostly leaves; tree's (and other wood, as from left over construction); card board boxes, and anything else that is bio-degradable. People are expected to be safety conscious.
Renee, Our surrounding communities (greater Houston) does not allow fireworks. So like you, we have a lot of people come into town that night, just to set off fireworks with friends of theirs who live here. That's probably why it sounded like a 'war-zone' this year. (I would actually like it more if they were illegal here... some day, I'm sure).
Also, if someone burns down a complete lot here, they do have to have a permit, and a firetruck is required to be present.
But we can burn smaller controlled fires, partly because we're county and not city. That may change later too... along with our well rights, who knows.
Carol, Glad sleeping flat has helped your back feel better.
Hubby noticed on an ad from Costco that they had an adjustable King for under 2 grand. But when I pull up a page from there, I don't see it. Maybe it was a special buy, but it actually sounds good (for reading in bed, or) for those nights when something hurts. Costco adjustable beds
Looks like this 4th of July weekend was a success for everyone, after a washout on Friday, the rest of the weekend was beautiful, one of the best in a long while...usually its in the 90s, hot & humid, but not this year, as close to perfect as you can wish for...
Catch up reading of the NYT...this may be of interest to those of you who spend a lot of time with smartphones... 'cramming' has found its way to smartphone billing...
Finally hard to imagine but 25 years ago this weekend, Seinfeld premiered on nbc, wow how times does fly by...& looks like in NY it hasn't been forgotten.. Never understood how it became so popular outside the NY metropolitan area, since it was soooo very NY...yada, yada, yada!!!
Coreen… What you talkin' bout….. everyone loved Seinfeld. New Yawkers are funny!
Yup… social media and outrage are like 2 peas in a pod. I've already had enough outrage to last the rest of my life. That's why I don't bother with twitter or Facebook. I've even slowed way down on my blogging. Not sure how much I'll stick around TrailMix with the next presidential election…. especially if Hillary gets the Democratic nod.
I started watching Seinfeld again awhile back. I enjoyed it moe than when it originally aired. I also watched friends again and enjoyed it more than when it originaly aired. Didn't really like it much back then.
Now I watch mostly natgeo and nat geo wild, my fav shows are lockup, Alaska State zTroopers, and life below zero. lockup, reminds me of work, Alaska State Troopers and Life below Zero are tough to watch. Have to wear a jacket when I do. So much cold and snow. Think so you yanks when I watch them alson Also like . dog whisperer. Life below zero Watching that one makes me feel that my life is easy. Have any of you ever watched theses program's. Greta, Karen and Shay share my like for those shows which works out well. I get cold watching thos shows. They are all about Alaska and life up there.
Lisa will be leaving to stay with her sister for the next few days and then heads to Texas this weekend. It's time for the next leg of my journey. It's time for Lisa to move on with her life. It's closing in on a year since my stroke. Time to get back to pre- stroke routine.
Greta, Karen Shay and our dos have kinda formed a family unit. We are all comparable, like the same things. They love the camp and feel at home there as much as I do. We plan to check out a new lake up north of here this weekend. We are looking for some crappy fishing.
I had a fantasy when I was younger about joining with other older people , cose to my age, for a sort of communal living situation. This is what our situation is kinda turning into. Lisa still needs to get back to her life. She's not ready for the older Folkestone group. I'm donating the camp to our group. Anything happens to me and it fop goes to Greta and Karen. They also have to help with the physical upkeep. It's all paid off so all it needs is just taking care of. We don't have any men in our group but my neighbours Kevinn, Randall and a couple of other hired help provide our guy help. They are on the payroll so they don't have shared ownership.
I'm cool with sharing what I have with my family unit. I'm currently looking for a small self contained camper so we cam travel around. I like those small r-pods. Have you seen one of those. Sleep about 4 people. We also have 5 dogs to include between us.
Well, Lisa moved her stuff out and went to her sisters. Karen, Greta and I are staying at the camp we are having boiled corn and shrimp and the moo ice cream for dessert. Indont think my friends will find it much of a Burden. Well eat well. Greta is a vegetarian so when Karen is here we will grill up some steaks. we can grill some salmon when Greta is here or other seafood again.
I bought a small,24 ft camper today . Karen and I went shopping thirds morn. We tried to go Saturday but they closed early. It has an indoor and outdoor kitchen. It also come with a small outdoor gas grill. It will be ready to roll this Saturday, we have to decide where we wll go . It won't take the place of the big camp but we can't pull it. It also has an outdoor shower and the indoor one is as big as the one in my camp. I have some pics on Facebook
shay went to find some material to show me how to make a fire the survivalist way. I want to be prepared in case I'm invited on thaT program q"naked and afraid". Only thing is ..if I were naked, every one else would be Anyone seen that show.ita on Discovery.
Will try again tomorrow . Too tired now. Working out lots of kinks in camper and our organisation. Had a bad storm here today. Greta and I were gone too my house thatt had a major water heater leak.. Good thing we went home. Got my little plumber out to turn off the water. Will get it fixed next week.
Sounds like your hot water heater must have rusted out, Carol. Good thing is, once you replace it, you won't have to worry about it again. The new ones are really energy efficient too.
Looking forward to hearing your story. Try to save it before publishing, just in case.
Hope everyone has a great, relaxing (or fun) Sunday. Us? We have some projects around the house to complete. But there will be good food and rest also.
Yesterday afternoogreta took me home to get some clean clothes nCant believe I didn't bring any but this was our maiden voyage we also left a box with some of our stuff in it. While we were gone they had a terrible thunder storm at the campsite .some other campers said it was the worst storm they had ever experienced at a campground. Karen had to put up all the stuff we had outside all by herself.
This morning we had too drain our grey water tank. It was fully and the shower wouldn't drain. karn was trying to hook up our sever drain pipe. Dint know how. There was another campsite near with veteran campers. I told Karen to ask the man how to do it and ,like a man she didn't want to ask for help. She is too proud. I asked. I'm not to proud to ask for help. We did finally. He said that we dint have all the necessary parts an he used his drain and fixed us up. Karen is the leader of our group. She does all the hard work Her only flaw is being too proud to ask for help. The guy we asked for help is an old Cajun from Abbeyville, close to wher Karen gre up 'I told her since he was almost family,it was ok to ask for help. Isaid,...now if he was from New York City we would just say goodbye and thanks.
We are now sitting outside. Had McDonald coffee and breakfast. I do have breakfast stuff but it would have been more work and taken longer. Next trip I do breakfast outside
We are at the campground. Greta took me home to get some clean clothes. We aren't quite organised for camping yet. It will com. While we were gone they had a rough electrical storm at the campground. When we got to my house, I d what we spraying on the back porch. My hot water pipe coming from my hot water heater sprung a huge leak. Back porch was soaked. I called my young plumber aand he was out in a few minutes to get the water off good thing I went home and good thing my hot water tank is on the back porch. And good thing I have spoke where else to stay. Blots of good things. W
Carol, sounds like you are having some adventures and some misadventures. So glad you have Karen and Greta there to help deal with some of the misadventures. I hate plumbing problems. When we first moved into our house we had all kinds of plumbing problems. We thought they would never end. The problem was simply old plumbing in a house built in 1950's plus some roots from an old tree. We had it all changed out. cost some $$$ but now everything works well. The problems stopped. I probably should "knock on wood" when I say that.
Anyway, I hope you get a new hot water heater and you all get to do some more fun camping.
John thinks camping out is staying in a holiday inn.
Lol, Jan! That's as close to camping I ever want to get also!
I feel like I'm practically living on a campground as it is. I agree with what you said about being OK with everything always being a work in progress. I'm OK with it too... what other choice is there. There's always more to do. Life's a messy business.
The only time we get into the 80 throughout the entire summer is at night, Jan (well, actually it's been in the lower 70s at night so far).
Enjoy the cooler weather you're getting.
I have more or less the same attitude toward the weather (except when it's cold!) as you mentioned having toward the constant demand of things that need to be done. Just a fact of life, and what is, is. I always find a way to be comfortable.
... actually, since we make our living keeping people 'cool' (and sometimes warm), extreme weather is a benefit to us. Without it, we wouldn't have a business.
My pipes are fixed and y electricity is fixed and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, only an arm.
I'm over at Greta's today spent the night here. I wonder when I'll graduate to staying alone. It's been over a year since my stroke. Maggie thinks she's a traveling dog. She never knows where she will be from one night to the next. She's adapting well to this. Better than me. I'm up early. My bones can't take laying down for more than a few hours, then every old injury starts screaming at me to get up. Good thing I can nap during the day.
Maybe it's time to put out your antenna's for a new roomie. Someone who's willing to help out in exchange for the comfort and security of your home. There are so many people in need right now, with the cost of living being so high.
Remember, all you have to do to get what you want is to think about it for a while. The ways and means will take care of themselves.
... yep, visualization is the most powerful too we have to control our lives. The challenge is to focus on good things we want and try to block out the bad things we sometimes expect (fear).
It's a constant challenge for me, trying to control my thoughts, herding them in the right direction. The older I get, the better I get at it... although it takes constant awareness, an slip now and then is inevitable.
Did you find it yet? Moms name is Katilin Noone. Pronounced noon.
Woke up to a cool and breezymorning. Perfect for July.
My siste, twin, said she couldn't read anything I wrote to her because of all my typos. I told her that you guys could because we are all better in cink than she and I are. She's pissed about my buying a camper because she locked up her money in an annuity that will pentilize her if she tries to use it. I told her that I saved up that money. I think she's trying to accuse me of stealing from my SFs money. I don't even have access to that money. My sister has a loose screw.
I tried to warn my sister about that annuity. I do have a couple of them but my advisor fixed mine up so I'd be safe. One is just a investment. The other generates a salary each month. The principle never drops.
They just reported losing another Malaysian airplane. Horrible!

I saved most of the salary I made when I worked at the jail. Didn't have any bills s I could save it. twin rarely worked even when she was employed. Then she spent every penny she made. I think twin thinks I should share my money with her. I loaned her money before we sold our farm and she just about wouldn't pay me back. I just recently loaned her another 1000 bucks so she could go see her son. She did not even go
Hillary was on the Daily Show last night. It will rerun early this evening. I will try to catch it then. I'm usually busy at that time of the evening. Do you notice that evenings fly by now. It's midnight before I blink my eyes. Time is moving too fast.
I got in the shower with my little 5 star device and broke it. It's one of those life alert devices. They will send me another one by tomorrow. I don't feel safe alone without it.
Carol… It sounds like your sister and my sister are similar when it comes to money. I think I've told you that she is a diagnosed borderline personality disorder. She's always managed to have a full time job… but like your sister, she spends every penny she makes. Whenever she's feeling broke, she calls me and will tell me down to the last dime what bill she needs to pay. She never directly asks me to pay the bill… but I get the message… it would be nice if I did.
She used to hit my parents up for money all the time when they were alive. My father would oblige because as he would say… "but she's the baby of the family". I don't look at her as a baby… I look at her as my equal. So no money comes from me…. I'm not going to start to go down that road.
Funny, seems we all have sisters who have difficulty taking care of themselves. I paid my sister for her part of a piece of property our dad left us in his will. She immediately turned it over to her youngest daughter and son in law with whom she was living. She called me the other day and was crying because the SIL is being a jerk to her. I knew this would happen because her SIL is a jerk.
Pouring this morning. Yesterday, it was a beautiful morning, cool with a nice river breeze. Karen and I went for a 2 mile walk. Laying in bed hurts like hell so I have to get up to get relief. Maybe this weather is partially responsible. Since it's so early , I took another ambien to go back to sleep. I can do that as long as I have 5 hrs left to sleep. I do.
Yep guys, our sisters are providing us with some sort of lif lesson haven't gotten the syllabus so idounderstand the less. Twin keep throwing God at me like sod wants me to take car of her. Their Hr are others who need my help hoar ether tI needing also. Ill gladly help them out.
Lis hadn't left town yesteray o she came over to a shor vino say goo bye o I enjoyed helping Lisa out she return the favor, many times over
Lisa spoiled both mag and me. She wanted to feel that she was returning the favor for having lived with me. I told her that if thing didn't work out where she was going, she was welcome backmhomehere
I'm gonna try to settle down with a netflix movie now rainsould help out. Nite nite Have a nice weekend. Our boy is going on a Boy Scout camping weekend. It will just be us girls to play and 3 dogs2 yorkies and Maggie who is hidding from the weather under my blanket
I still can't find your nieces pic on your Facebook page. I saw the other new pics you posted, the one with the dog and chicks.
I was going to ask you to email me your nieces pic to chloe@doubt.com, but then I noticed that I'm not coming up on the bar of your page to be able to contribute... am unable to sign in to do a post.
Meanwhile, I'll email you to see if you can set me up as a contributor again. If you send me the baby pic (or add it to your Facebook), I'll then be able set up a new post for you.
It's been raining cats and dogs here. nasty. I mover it. Needed to walk but there's a wTerfall coming off my roof here.
I got up at 2' then again at 5. Stayed yo then. Karens gone to work. Greta and the boy are fast asleep. . I would be also but my body pain gets me up in the morning.
Thanks Chloe for putting up the post hope that pic returns. My Facebook is acting crazy.
We went fishing this morning no luck. Just the opposite. Wen when we were unloading the boat I leaned over and fell forward. Hit my head on the wharf on put an egg on my forehead. Greta ca Pled my doc and she insisted I go get a ct scan. I didn't want to go it was ok. Karen was aggravated at Greta for some reason and went home. Greta wanted me to go over to there house but I was comfortable her so I insistd on staying. My neighbour Keven will come over to stay with me. That's fine because I'm not leaving. My head is ok.just have a nice bruiser on it. I'm comfortable here and I got my 5star Bach. One that can get wet. I It will be better to have my meighbor over here though.

Great pictures Renee. The little turkeys are so cute.

Thanks, Renee!... for sharing your turkey family with us. I don't seem to be seeing enough babies this year.

Top Ten Cities for Fireworks
... this is the latest news I can find on the hurricane, although I'm sure there's a lot better coverage out there. Arthur Strengthens to Become First Atlantic Hurricane
Hope you on the east coast will keep us informed. Be safe!

Hey, Carol.
Can't wait to see the pic.
Didn't realize you were posting so much on Facebook. I very rarely go there, but will have to start checking out your page more often. Good stuff.
Hey everyone… it's raining cats and dogs here. But tomorrow will be beautiful. We will do our celebration then with some grilled rib-eyes.
Happy 4th!
Happy Independence Day to all. We too have had some rain - about a 1/2 inch here in the valley.

We only had an inch and a half rain. May have been more. The camp rain gauge has a lot of interference
It was a perfect day today. Mild and comfortable temps. Great day.
Well the 4th may have been a washout along the east coast, today is starting out with a blast of Canadian air, sunny, brisk breeze & fresh air...not at all like so many past hot & humid
4th of July weekends around here...
Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend...
Carol, your 4th menu sounds delicious. Glad you had such nice weather.
Coreen, sounds like you had some nice weather - not too sure from what you say.
Chloe and Renee, how was your 4th of July?
Well, the heat came back with fury yesterday
Th seems to always be one nicer day in July so we can get thing done that we say.. I'll do that on a cold day in July. I didn't get anything done that day but eat which I do need to do.
jan, did your sister get there to visit?
Get, Karen, shay nd I have pent 2 dayss at the camp. first time I've been out here that long since the big "S".
I slept in my recliner and have a bad crick in my neck now. I could have slept in my bed but no tv in there.
Jan,
We went to Chile's for ribs, and then relaxed a large part of the afternoon watching Elementary (a version of Sherlock Holmes)...
I've been watching some of the second season season of orange is the new black. Chloe, do you know the significance if the title of this series.
Carol, I am reading the book. The author says this line "Orange is the new black" early in the book. She is waiting to serve her sentence and she hears that all her friends are wearing orange for some holiday - in support of her having to go to prison.
Carol, my sister is planning on coming for a visit later in July - she thinks about July 22.
Sorry to hear about your neck pain. Hope you can sleep in a bed soon.
Chloe, sounds like you had a good holiday.
Orange is not a good color for me or for many others. I recommend that most people avoid having to wear that color.
jan, I slept flat last night and feel better today.
Lisa told me tat that she may be leaving this coming wk. Maggie and I aren't ready for her to go. My pool even likes her company. did you know that a pool can get lonely too.
I did have a great weekend at the camp with my friends. Camp also loves the company.
Jan…
Our 4th started out with a power outage.
Chloe…
Fireworks are legal here in NH. Because we live on the border of Massachusetts(where they're illegal), we see lots of Mass cars up here a couple of days before the 4th buying them.
We can't burn trash here. We can burn brush… but only with a fire dept. permit.
Jan…
I've not read that book, but I have seen the author interviewed on television.
Renee,
Until you mentioned it, I never thought much about liking the color orange.
Renee,
Our surrounding communities (greater Houston) does not allow fireworks.
Carol,
Glad sleeping flat has helped your back feel better.
Hubby noticed on an ad from Costco that they had an adjustable King for under 2 grand. But when I pull up a page from there, I don't see it. Maybe it was a special buy, but it actually sounds good (for reading in bed, or) for those nights when something hurts. Costco adjustable beds
Looks like this 4th of July weekend was a success for everyone, after a washout on Friday, the rest of the weekend was beautiful, one of the best
in a long while...usually its in the 90s, hot & humid, but not this year, as close to perfect as you can wish for...
Catch up reading of the NYT...this may be of interest to those of you who spend a lot of time with smartphones...
'cramming' has found its way to smartphone billing...
Unauthorized charges on cellphone bills are a growing problem
And this NYT piece nails it about the use of social media...Hmmm...
Clicking their way to outrage
Finally hard to imagine but 25 years ago this weekend, Seinfeld
premiered on nbc, wow how times does fly by...& looks like
in NY it hasn't been forgotten..
Never understood how it became so popular outside the NY metropolitan area, since it was soooo very NY...yada, yada, yada!!!
Brooklyn Cyclones Seinfed night pays tribute to a show about nothing
And FYI, I remember all the references to the different Seinfeld episodes mentioned...not sure if any of you were fans...
Great links, Coreen. Good stuff, thanks.
I'm going to leave them open on my browser and finish reading them when I get back this morning.
... have a good day, everyone!
Coreen…
What you talkin' bout….. everyone loved Seinfeld.
Seinfeld was one of our favorites. The dialogue was great - no matter where one lived. We still occasionally watch reruns.
Carol, your communal life sounds great. Your friends are good people.I have read of others doing this kind of thing too.
I have not watched the TV shows you are talking about. They sound interesting.
Renee, I have always liked the color orange. Fall is my favorite season. I love the cool/cold mornings and warmer afternoons.
I hope you guys who love orange wont ever have to wear it all the time except by choice.
Nice camper, Carol!
Let us know where you take it first.
Your camper look fine Carol. You all will have such fun in it.
shay went to find some material to show me how to make a fire the survivalist way.
I want to be prepared in case I'm invited on thaT program q"naked and afraid". Only thing is ..if I were naked, every one else would be
Anyone seen that show.ita on Discovery.
That was suppose to read.. If I were naked, everyone else would be afraid.
Wrote a story twice and lost it bothtimes
Enjoy, all!
... actually, there are 'always' unfinished projects to complete (and start) around here. No rest for the wicked.
The camper is col. Cold enough to hang meat.
John and I don't camp. John thinks camping out is staying in a holiday inn. He has no desire to "rough it" and frankly at my age, neither do I.
Chloe, We too have so many unfinished projects. Our house and yard will always be a "work in progress." And I am ok with that.
We have some great weather now and coming up. Our temps will be in 80's for a few days with some probabilities of thunder boomers.
No shortage of extreme weather in Houston!
Summer is upon us in Houston
My pipes are fixed and y electricity is fixed and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, only an arm.
I'm over at Greta's today spent the night here. I wonder when I'll graduate to staying alone. It's been over a year since my stroke. Maggie thinks she's a traveling dog. She never knows where she will be from one night to the next. She's adapting well to this. Better than me. I'm up early. My bones can't take laying down for more than a few hours, then every old injury starts screaming at me to get up. Good thing I can nap during the day.
Carol, happy you have friends to spend the night with.
Hey, Carol
Maybe it's time to put out your antenna's for a new roomie. Someone who's willing to help out in exchange for the comfort and security of your home. There are so many people in need right now, with the cost of living being so high.
Remember, all you have to do to get what you want is to think about it for a while. The ways and means will take care of themselves.
I need a favor. Would one of you girls go to my Facebook page a get the pic of my niece and her new baby to put up as a blog post. thanks.
Amen to that comment Chloe about getting what you want. I've been doing that for years.
Carol,
I just went to your Facebook page again, and still can't find a picture of your baby niece. I see lots of picture's there, but none of hers.
If you put one on there, I'll be more than glad to post it on the site here for you. Let me know.
That's how I got this camp.
... yep, visualization is the most powerful too we have to control our lives. The challenge is to focus on good things we want and try to block out the bad things we sometimes expect (fear).
It's a constant challenge for me, trying to control my thoughts, herding them in the right direction. The older I get, the better I get at it... although it takes constant awareness, an slip now and then is inevitable.
It's apical of mom and baby Chloe.

Chloe, I can't find the pic on my Facebook page anymore. Don't know where it went.
Chloe, that picture is back on my Facebook.
Carol…
It sounds like your sister and my sister are similar when it comes to money.
Lis hadn't left town yesteray o she came over to a shor vino say goo bye o
I enjoyed helping Lisa out she return the favor, many times over
Lisa spoiled both mag and me. She wanted to feel that she was returning the favor for having lived with me.
I told her that if thing didn't work out where she was going, she was welcome backmhomehere
Well, it's time to get comfotb
I'm gonna try to settle down with a netflix movie now rainsould help out.
Nite nite
Have a nice weekend. Our boy is going on a Boy Scout camping weekend. It will just be us girls to play and 3 dogs2 yorkies and Maggie who is hidding from the weather under my blanket
Hey, Carol,
I still can't find your nieces pic on your Facebook page.
If you send me the baby pic (or add it to your Facebook), I'll then be able set up a new post for you.
... noticed your list of followers seems to be missing too, at least on my computer screen.
