Carol, love your river pictures. Really takes me back to LA. A beautiful place. I have been trying to keep up with comments. Enjoying reading them. Sorry to not be participating so much lately.
I worked all day yesterday and will be working most of day today. Son has been coming over for dinner. I think I am feeling better. I have a fever blister on my upper lip. Never had these until about 2 years ago. It is better now. Had some med for a stye on eye and it works well for fever blister too.
I think there are some good repubs. I especially like Christy. Have you guys seen that Pat Robertson says that problems in marriage are caused by women. SOB.
I had a problem with FB the other day. I have a FB friend who is agnostic and she put up a cartoon about the Bible - was one of God who was looking at the Bible and he said "Who wrote this s***. I responded "like" and it came up on my FB page. Made me a little nervous since John is a clergy and we share a lot of FB friends. Could not get it to go away. Well, so be it. That is how I feel anyway. I do believe in God and prayer but the Bible was written by men and there is lots of stuff in it that I strongly object to.
If Christie wants to get anywhere he better take off a few pounds. That's one thing that is still pretty acceptable, fat prejudice. I'm working hard on becoming a victim of it myself. Another thing about Christie, he's all for something when it benefits him but again it when it doesn't. I don't like two faced people.
I really don't see a lick of difference between the two parties except when it comes to social issues or how many of them sound like idiots. Do you really think the Dems want to mess with your money. Haven't you noticed who Obama has running financial things, now and in the past?
Carol, They need a technical advisor on DA. For one thing, they were talking about putting honey in baby's formula and honey is poison to baby's under a year old.
Yes, they have been using mag sulfate for prevention of seizures for many years. I did not know that it went back so far. When all that was going on - on DA I was yelling at my TV for The Earl to shut up and let them take her to the hosp. Not sure if they could have saved her life by the time they realized how bad she was, but would have had a better chance. Many people do not realize that the danger of Eclampsia is there even after the baby is born. When everyone left her that night I was yelling at the TV again, "Don't leave her alone. "
Its a show.
John's daughter had HELP Syndrome which is severe pre eclampsia. She did not have seizures but her liver was swollen and was tender for a month after her baby was born. They delivered her baby a month early because her preeclampsia was so severe. Baby was in NICU for 4 weeks. She did ok but still has problems with colds. Just does not recover quickly.
They still do not know what causes pre eclampsia. They have more new terms for it now - Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. It is basically same thing. HELP Syndrome is most dangerous.
And what are you refering to as 2-faced Carol, as far as Chris Christie?...if it is that he wants $$ to benefit NJ as a result of Sandy...careful, since as far as those of us up here where our collective $$$ have subsidized a huge segment of this country for years with little reimbursement...it's about time some of it comes back where it originated...
You are way overpaying your fair share of taxes Coreen and it's given to the rich banks, oil companies, CEOs etc. That's certainly not the Dems fault. Let's have a flat tax and everyone pay, no loopholes.
Jan about that FB 'like'...I think that you can 'hide' items that come up on your page...to the right of the item it usually says 'sort' or there is just an arrow if you hover near arrow & then it says 'hide' or report as spam, & you can press hide & it removes the item from your page...
Coreen, it ain't the Dems that think that the government shouldn't help out when it's really needed. It's your boys. They also voted against help for the area for a while.
So is that what it is with Christie? If so, that is exactly what he should be doing for his constituents...Get back some of their $$$...
You think the residents of NJ, NY, CT, (mostly taxpayers...lots of taxes) should not be reimbursed now when their $$$ have supported you & the rest of the 'poor' states for years...
And no Carol, since many of those CEOs corps, banks, etc pay the taxes up here that then go to support various states, heavily in your area, to support your neighbors, your environment, your way of life...
And Carol, residents in NJ, NY & some of CT are still waiting..so forget about NO & Bush...obama showed up before the election took credit & today there are still many w/o any help, so don't give me that bush bull...
And the key in your comment is "when really needed"...the problem is separating what is needed...& who decides what is needed..fema was set up to do what it is needed in NJ, Christie is not expecting more than the laws allow, so do give me 2-faced...doesn't fly with me...
Not interested in going over ancient history or your anecdotal history of the woes you endured then...likely the $$$ that were sent came from those same people that you now call Christie 2-faced for requesting...
Your comment was that Christie is 2-faced & as far as I am concerned that is not the case...he is doing exactly what he should...
And whether GE or others do or do not pay income taxes is irrelevant to your comment about Christie...
Why do we bother discussing politics Coreen? We will never agree. At least you are willing to investigate the paranormal. We are more compatible there. I'm somewhat paranormal.
Jan, I was real surprised that mag sulfate went back that far also. I think by the time the family doc got involved In Sybil's case, it was too late. I guess they werent into malpractice back then or they could have sued Lord what's his name. I still think that if Lady Crawley would have been around, she would have caught it.
Y'all remember lil Vertigo? Last pic. Soon it will be owl breeding season. I don't think my tree supports a nest anymore. Didn't have one the last two years.
A 20 something year old guy carried his AR 15 into a grocery store because he could. Perfectly legal. He didn't have a concealed carry license but didn't need one because it wasn't concealed. Who is to know what his mental status was. I certainly wouldn't shop there and I'd be moving out of that town. That's totally ridiculous that doing that is OK. Just the gesture is nuts. These pro gun folks are crazy.
Not a problem for me Carol...didn't really intend it to be a political discussion but rather an observation as to why I no longer have an affinity for the goings on at TM...
Here's the story about the guy who brought his LOADED AR 15 into a Kroger's grocery store. The AR-15 is a lightweight, 5.56 mm, magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifle. This happened in Charlottesville, Va. Would you want to hang around to see if he might be pissed at someone?
Who needs that kind of gun in the grocery store? What possible purpose could there be for doing something like that? The guy was 22 y/o. I don't much trust many of them anyway. I bet he cleared the check out line. Just doing something like that would indicate that he has some mental instability, IMO.
The problem is that the law there allowed it. What kind of country do we have that allows people to grocery shop with a loaded semi automatic rifle? Could he also haul that rifle into the movie theater or the library? I guess he could haul it anywhere.
The police didn't even know why he brought that guy into the store. They made a guess. The police must be pretty sharp in that town. I wonder if his parents are proud of him? Probably.
Chloe, do you see a pic with yellow flowers? I didn't put one up. I think you may have a cataract. The fifth pic is the sun shining on the trees across the river from my camp. There is also a rainbow, if you look real close. Blow up the pic.
That pic is facing east. The sun sets in the west and at a certain level as it is setting, it shines on those trees and gives them an interesting look and I guess color.
Carol, The same thing happened with your kitty pictures. I was seeing them lighter colored than you said. Pic number 5 looks like a bed of yellow flowers.
The color on my laptop must be WAY OFF. I'll probably just keep it that way. I really do love the yellow (I'm imagining I see).
I'm glad I tried to connect that cord tonight. The port on my laptop was not a HDMI, it was some eSATA or something. I need to return that cord. It was very expensive. I guess I'll just keep on using my laptop to watch Netflix.
Jan, I love what you posted on your Facebook about ADCD. I finally found my diagnosis. You ought to share some of that stuff here also. I've had that disorder all my life. For those who may not be familiar with it, but also suffer it, I'll share it with you.
ADCD is attention deficit cleaning disorder. You start to clean one thing, get distracted by other things that need cleaning, which causes you to bounce around to different jobs only to end up doing a lot of work with nothing to show for it. That's why I've pretty much quit doing a lot of cleaning. I have to keep the kitchen clean because I like to eat and I need clean dishes to cook with. But that doesn't last either.
I'm haunted by clutter. It's almost supernatural. I can clean off a table and within minutes everything has crawled back. It's a phenomena. I'm not kiddin. I live alone, don't have company. I asked Maggie if it bothered her. Since she said nothing, I assumed by her response that it didn't.
Coreen, I was pondering a significant reason, besides ideology, why I can't even consider being on the "right". Have you ever noticed those who are the mouthpieces of the "right"? I'm talking about Rush L, Ann Coulter, Glen Beck, et al. I could go on and on. Let's not forget those like Pat Robertson. I'd have a real problem supporting a party that any of them spoke for. Now tell me someone from my side who even comes close to sounding like any of those clowns. And I'm talking about someone who most people have heard of.
Yep, I'm up in the wee hours of the AM again. It's become my routine. I do some good pondering at this time of day. I even make myself a cup of coffee. It doesn't seem to bother my falling asleep again.
I guess that coffee did bother me because I just finished making and eating some bacon and waffles. I can sleep later..if I want. I do know that they say that screwing with my sleep can alter my health. It's way too late to worry about that now.
Carol, you keep saying you can't be on the 'right'...yet you of all people foster views that are so-called right/conservative views...most recently, your call for a'flat tax'...just like your love for Buddy...all of his positions that you agreed with are standard right talking points...
he was & likely remains a republican, especially in his view of the reach of govt...
Nope Coreen, he's now an Independent. They left him before he left them. I always said that I do like some conservative ideas but most on the "right" have ruined them with their crazy talk. I think a lower flat tax would be fair as long as everyone has to pay it, no excuses. I bet it would bring in tons more revenue.
It's only us honest, work hard for our money peeps, who are paying taxes.
Question for you, prior to your interest in Hillary, were you 'political' in your views ?...
and yes I know that you have said you have never been comfortable with your neighbors' views, and those of your entire state govt, that you find fox to be the devil incarnate.. as well as talk radio which has been the home for right/conservative views for I think something like 20 years...that was their first forum & yes the most popular talkers as evidenced by 'talker' are rush & hannity, but that's because they consistently continue to command an audience...it's always about the money remember...
For years there has not been a successful left leaning radio station...air america tried went bellyup, but it did lead to good old al franken, jumping into politics...& fyi, that was where rachel maddow was first heard...I actually listened to AA...sad that it just couldn't cut it...
as far as left leaning personalities (not falling for your attempt to preempt any names by saying "someone who people heard of")...start with the entire cast of characters at msnbc from maddow, schultz, (who also was on air america before it filed bankruptcy)o'donnell, the fired olberman (who's ego continually gets him dumped everywhere), to the failed current zeros including your buddy cenk, a big loser...and for a radio mainstays stephanie miller & thom hartman...(& yes their views are equally offensive to those on the right as the rush & his progeny are to you & other libs)...Just saying...
there may come a time when left leaning talk is as successful as right talk has been so that it is heard nationwide, who knows, they need an audience to support them so far, not so much...maybe the generation that everyone is saying is the future of the dems will acquire a longer attention span...& a loyal audience...
Do you really believe that only you & not even sure who else you consider 'honest hard working peeps' are paying taxes...
you do know that regardless of what you have chosen to believe, talking points from the side you happen to agree with (just as the left attacks the right talking points, remember both sides are guilty of spin)...the so-called 'rich' still pay the majority of all taxes...why do you think that this adm. is hell-bent on continuing 'class warfare'...
Just remember clowns operate on both sides...for whatever reason you happen to like those on the left, your core beliefs(as stated often enough) are much closer to those other clowns...sorry about that...
I think the reason why those right wing turkeys have survived is because they have a lot of financial backing from big business. They are the spokes people for their agenda.
Buddy was a little more reasonable on the social issues. He didn't feel like it was his role to push them on others. Buddy rails against the corrupting influence of money in politics. Your boys on the right don't because they are bought off by it.
Like I mentioned on TM last night..where is Dyan Ratigan. I think he leans right but he hated and screamed against the same thing. Now he's pretty much disappeared.
I include you, and the rest of us here, in those who pay more than their fair share of taxes. I assume we are all honest when filing our returns. Believe me, I feel the pain. It wouldn't be sooo bad if I got to pick and chose where the money went. Not to war, not for oil subsidies, not for CEOs salaries...I might have bailed out some businesses but there would have been some tough rules, that would have been enforced. If you screwed up, you should suffer the consequences.
Dylan Rattigan...on theright? I don't think so...he started out at cnbc doing financial news...& had an epiphany! & wanted to talk truth to power I guess!...but in the end he wound up burning out...a failed populist...he may still turn up somewhere, but so far no sign of him....
Last night HW said she heard something about where he was but couldn't remember. I hate it when someone tells me that. Better not to say than to say you might know but can't remember.
Maggie musta had her pain return. She was yelping again and won't eat. This time it's not me. I'm feeling better, at least so far. I tried to offer her some cheese with an NSAID in it but she won't touch it. She's hiding. Maggie has a low threshold for pain also.
It's been unseasonably warm for days but it rained last night and the temp dropped some, not that much.
Not sure I can give you credit for knowing that, if you did, there was no need to ask about left leaning clowns that come close to those on the right...gave you a bunch of them, they are the mirror image of those you dislike, even though you may not agree...
Those who you mention on the left don't even come close to being the clowns that those I mentioned on the right Coreen. Yes, they do lean way over to the left. I don't call them clowns just because I don't agree with them. If they were on my side, they'd still be clowns. I don't consider O'Reilly to be a clown even though I seldom agree with him.
As for bill oreilly, in the past I would hazard a a guess that those on the left called him a right wing wacko, though he likely would claim to be middle of the road, call it like it is, indie...
Ok, guys. Couldn't help but think of this song (hope you'll forgive me. :)
Stuck in the middle with you "Trying to make some sense of it all, But I can see that it makes no sense at all, Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor, 'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, Here I am, stuck in the middle with you." Stuck in the middle with you
Carol, I've mentioned this before and think maybe you don't agree with me.... but I have so many animals: and when one goes off their feed (dogs, cats, horses) it's almost always cured with a wormer.
You're so careful in keeping Maggie clean and healthy, that it may sound silly, but they can pick them up (certain types) off the ground walking around outside (from even wild little critters?). There are some very safe wormer's on the market that seem to cause no side effects.
I finished DA season 2 last night (annoyed by Hulu's slow downloads, with blips ever so often). I was so happy to happy such a (temporary) happy ending. I've got a feeling I'm going to be stressed again when I start season 3 (the DVD arrived). Tonight I need to watch a Netflix DVD that's been sitting on my desk for days (along with the rest of the clutter) so I can send it back. Then hopefully tomorrow I can start season 3.
Mary has really grown on me. And Jan, once you mentioned what a nice voice she has, I paid better attention and yes, it is so beautiful.
I was trying to remember what Anna said to Bates when she was visiting him in prison. I scribbled it down somewhere because it reminded me of what we were talking about: worry (just found it).
Bates was telling Ana to prepare for the worst, and Anna said 'I know it could happen, I do'. But she then went on to say 'But the time to face it is after, 'not' before.'
It seems there is so much to learn from many of these characters because they have such a high level of civility (?), for lack f a better word.
I still don't remember every thing about the first season, but I'd never go back to watch it again. I finally did remember them dragging that guy out of Mary's bed. I'd just seen so many movies and series after seeing that (during those months I stayed off line) that it all blends in together.
I really feel like that time off changed me a lot.
ps Have you noticed that in DA, that their dresses have that 'flapper' look that was popular here in the U.S. in the early '20s? They were usually shorter here though. I really love that flapper look. Hair and dress and all.
Chloe, it is some kind of pain. I think it may involve those anal glands. Both times when I brought her to the Doc they poked all over her and nada. Then when they squeezed her anal glands because they were full, that set her off. Also, when I asked them to shave around her anus, that set her off. I think she has a problem there. I can even see her holding her tail close to her body and she's walking different. When she feels bad, physically or mentally, she won't eat a thing.
I hid a doggy NSAID in some cheese but she won't eat the cheese. She was OK yesterday. She's been OK for a while now. This just started today.
Chloe, I hope Maggie hasn't sensed that I'm going out and she's pulling this to stop me. She is pretty intuitive and manipulative. She'll be OK because I'm going out!
She doesn't yelp until I move her. I've taken her out a few times to make her move some. She doesn't yelp when she is slowly walking outside but there's no pep in her step. She did both number 1 and 2.
I won't watch the whole DVD at once. I just wanted it available to watch when I had the time (but if I get too curious, who knows....I may not be able to resist getting ahead). I don't know. I'd like to catch up on a few other releases of things too. I'm due for a good foreign movie. Plus we've been going to the theater for movies on Friday mornings again (at least until things get too busy).
Tonight I'm watching the movie I got from Netflix. Haven't even opened the DA DVD yet.
Again -- have fun tonight! Greek/Lebanese food sounds interesting.
Regarding Maggie: the fact that she pooed and peed aright is a very good sign. That's an important thing, because if she did have worms, she'd probably have diarrhea.
I was just hoping it would be that simple, I guess.
I'm home. Had a good dinner and a great visit. It was nice. The biggest problem I have going out to eat is that what I cook is so much better than pretty much anything I can find out. Most everything I had tonight, I could have made much better.
I left Maggie on the couch with that piece of cheese with the doggiprofen in it. When I got home it was gone and she was back to normal. I put her out and she came back in and ate all her food. She was even high steppin.
Chloe, do you ever start a movie or show on Netflix, get 10 minutes in to it and say, this is not for me? I can go through several things before I find something I can tolerate. I know there are many things that I would like but it's hard to find them.
Coreen, we might not agree on politics but I reserve the right to whine if I want to. You can do the same. What started my whine today was instigated by something I was watching on the Daily Show. Jon doesn't have to write much of his scripts these days, he just puts up clips, of some of these people, and lets them provide their own comedy..or tragedy. Last night he let Glen Beck make a fool of himself.
IMO, if anyone could listen to Glen Beck and think he made a lick of sense, it would qualify for a diagnosis of insanity. It's just my opinion. I've had many off the wall psychotics in the joint who made more sense than he did.
Chloe, I still cook for Maggie. I cook her chicken, ground chuck, whole grain pasta and squash. I do that at least once a week but freeze in in three portions so it stays fresh. She gets fed a small portion twice a day. After each meal she gets two large nuggets of Science Diet, dental diet. I call them her cookies. Mid day she gets two of the same nuggets if she wants them. She's a very healthy weight.
Yesterday, she came with me to the camp and we took a nice walk down the road. She was good yesterday.
She takes those, once a month, heart worm chews and they have worm med in them. She just had over $300 of tests/xrays, was examined thoroughly by two different Vets and everything was normal except that her anal glands were full.
Maggie is not much trouble considering I have no one else to take care of. We all need someone or something to take care of. Chloe, you have the real prize with little Emma. I bow down to you.
Coreen, I think you asked when did I start getting interesting in politics. I think I've mentioned that a hundred times but maybe just thought about it most of those times. People around here aren't interested in politics or at least they don't think of it as being interested in politics. I think they are interested in what politics ends up doing to their lives though.
I didn't get hooked until baby Bush came around and my intuition screamed at me to start paying attention. It's not like there was anyone else around to share that interest with. I can clear a room if I start talking about it. I often clear this blog when I do it here but it's still is a passion and I started this blog to have a place to go when no one else is interested in what I feel like talking about.
I'm not sure what will set off my intellectual curiosity but something will and it's off to the races. After the reading the Da Vinci Code, and discussing that with big sis, I started yearning to know more about who wrote the Bible. I couldn't get enough info on that. I guess I assumed it just fell outta the sky written. How many people actually wonder about that?? They just accept it, no questions. It's sometimes dangerous to start questioning things. Our politicians certainly don't want us to question anything, and for the most part, they have it their way.
Now I think..why don't more people wonder about that kind of stuff? We just accept shit because it's there and many people just don't want to know why? I was born with that question stuck in my head...WHY?
When I was young, I preferred hanging with older people. I could learn from them. People may age seemed so silly and immature. Older people seemed to have their shit together. Now that I'm older I realize that isn't always true and I'm having trouble finding older people now that I'm one.
And those older people don't have to be educated in the traditional sense, they just have to be wise. I loved sitting with my Pa or with my neighbor friend from down the road and listen to them. They knew stuff because they lived it and studied it. I could learn from their life experiences, many that I would never have the opportunity to have. Same thing at Trailmix. I can learn from some of the life experiences they had that I will never have and those people do care. They are also driven to care.
It's so neat to find someone else who is driven like that. That's why I was attracted to Jan. You were driven Jan. I don't think that you even recognize that in yourself or don't want to admit it. You'd get something in your head that you wanted to know and go after it and if the subject interested me also, I could follow behind and pick up the bread crumbs. I was often too busy and that was a lot less work.
Jan, you seemed to have chosen two husbands who were intellectually curious. Do you agree? Both were into the whys. I found Bob to be that way. I don't know much about John but as a religious leader, he must have been. Do you also find that attractive?
I find that quality in papa construction guy. He's very smart and intuitive in building houses. I'm very attracted to that.
You know that I was fretting over what to do about that floor. I prayed about it. I talked with you guys about it. I was dreading it. I got a call from papa smurf while I was out buying that cable that I now need to return. He wanted me to come to the camp to show me something extra he was doing for me, no charge.
He found some things on my front porch stoop that needed redoing and he was doing that. He said it was a Christmas present. Kinda a hard time to bring up a little uneven place in the floor but I did mention it on the phone. I said I wasn't sure what could be done. He hadn't seen it.
We did look at it and he said that will happen with this kind of floor and the floor guys did also. The more I looked at it, the less significant it got. I know that to remove that little flaw would most likely create many more and the whole area is so pretty.
These guys were definitely meant to come across my path in this life. I feel that. They also share my love for the outdoors and nature. They love birds and told me about coming across Harry heron while out there working. They got closer to him than I ever have. One of the sons said he could have almost grabbed him while Harry was standing on my wharf, they were that close. He had a pic on his cell phone of Harry. They appreciated that experience. And they saw an owl up in one of my trees. Maybe one of the kids has come back to find a place to make a nest. I seriously don't want to lose my connection with these guys because you just don't come across too many people who share those kinds of appreciations.
It would be neat if I could find a room mate, with a little muscle left, who also shared those kind of appreciations. My neighbor guy does also. My RR nurse friend does also. I haven't really found any other friends who do.
".... do you ever start a movie or show on Netflix, get 10 minutes in to it and say, this is not for me?"
All the time, Carol. That's why I que up a huge amount of stuff on my menu. It takes some time though, but if you find one thing you know you like, then their menu will make recommendations for other things that are similar (although they aren't always right).
When I begin to view them I delete the ones I know right away I'm not going to like. Sometimes I stick with one and it turns out I do.
All the work is worth it though, just to find that jewel every so often.
So is Emma, Carol. For Emma, I just know there's a pretty good reason. Her mother wasn't around until toward the end of her pregnancy. We then built an apartment for her and her baby (I say her baby, because M wasn't born yet). But I have no idea what went on during her pregnancy because of the kind of people she hangs out with (at least that will change with the Army).
Has her mom ever wanted to take her back? Yes. But she never had a permanent residence, and didn't want to stay in the apartment we built her long after the birth. She had no mothering skills, and wasn't interested in learning any. The people she hangs out with made it impossible to trust her Emma. She would also have left her with these low-lifes. Sorry, but that's exactly what they are. Emma's already doing better emotionally, with Amy not popping in (it's been daily lately, until she left). Emma doesn't really understand the concept of 'mommy' yet -- to her, I think it's just a name. She's called her young teacher mommy before.
I'm sure Amy loves Emma and is proud of her, but it takes a lot more than love to raise a baby. The problem is Amy loves 'herself' more than she is capable of loving anyone else. She may be a narcissist. I'm not even sure she's not a bit of a sociopath. I never know what's going on in her head.
My main concern became making sure Emma is safe and well cared for -- then (gram)Pa and I fell in love with her.
"We just accept shit because it's there and many people just don't want to know why?"
I think because it's easier, Carol. It takes a lot of courage to question things. And it's even harder to admit we've been wrong. Our world doesn't change unless we do.
Chloe, it wasn't when I came home from my dinner, it was after my short nightly nap. Look at the time. I most always wake up with a full ponder going. I guess the Universe talks to me in my sleep. Maybe in the dreams that I don't remember.
Carol, I guess I am attracted to people who are curious about the world which of course includes you.
You credit me with too much thinking. Bob rescued me. I don't know how much thinking there was about it. I was attracted to him because he was kind and he liked me and I could tell he would be a good dad. The men I have fallen in love with turned out to be bad boys.
I was attracted to John because he had a beard and reminded me of Bob. Took me a long time to get over my grief for the end of my marriage to Bob. John knows that. We don't have any secrets. John has helped me deal with the grief. Now I would not have my life any other way.
Intellectual curiosity has nothing to do with it. I think a lot of attraction has to do with gut feeling and/or intuition.
I remember all the interesting books you read when you were in grad school. You shared much of what you learned with me. I've quoted much of it over the years.
I am laughing Carol. I am not putting myself down. I just know who I am now and do not try to kid myself. I do think I am reasonably intelligent. I am a survivor and I have used my head/intelligence to survive. I don't think I have anything special in the intelligence department. You are as intellectually curious as anyone I know. You are the one that needs to recognize what you have.
The years I was married to Bob were great years. I felt more secure and cared for than at any time in my life and I think that freed me to be able to pursue intellectual pursuits. Also, I have read that the late teens, twenties and early thirties are the time for the most intense learning as adult. I had to work so much harder in my 40s to learn.
The lady I went to dinner with last night has the same problem of being attracted to bad boys. She is a tall, intelligent, beautiful woman who picks some real losers. Her first husband was a real loser. I told her that I need to interview her dates first.
I give some credit to God. I think she knew what I needed when I met Bob and steered me in that direction. How else could I have escaped from a nut job who more than anything in life, wanted me dead. Two months after I met Bob, he was offered the position at the oil Co. in Argentina. We were on our way in 30 days.
My problem was that the only guys interested in me were losers and I just wouldn't settle for that. Now, in my older years, I've had some who weren't. Unfortunately, they were already married, and I wouldn't settle for that either.
Some of us are just attracted to bad boys. I did figure that out pretty early. When you think you might die, you learn to be a little more cautious in your selection of people.
I've had more women interested in me. I guess they weren't threatened by intelligent, ambitious women like men were. I've had several stalkers over the years, who were women.
I have just always known that I liked having a close relationship with a partner. I am willing to work at it if the other person is too. My dad was that way too. I guess I have some of his characteristics - I think the good ones.
How about the species Jan? Does that matter? Will Maggie's love do, and the kitties? It's a lot less complicated. Well, maybe not. Maggie is pretty complicated.
Jan, what I would most like is just a friend who appreciates nature and likes to fish. Nothing more intimate than that. I'm too fragile for anything that requires body contact. Maggie can't even jump on me too hard. I break! Do they have a website to find that?
hmmm Someone should create a website called "match friend. com"
Wish I knew Carol.
At my age now, don't know if I would want to go through the issue of finding a partner again. I think a good friend to do things with me that I like to do would be good.
Yeah! Ryley won't pull her wt around here either. Sometimes hard to get John too LOL. He does do things for me that are neat. I do most of housework, but when we go on a trip, he prefers to do the driving. He will get me a cup of tea and will get a cover for my legs when we are watching TV. It all "comes out in the end." I don't worry about who does more or less. Although I do sputter around a little when I have to do all the dishes in the evening. However, I don't like the way he does it. So it is best not to complain.
Big sis and I had fun when she was visiting as long as I let her be the boss of me. It was a good trade off. I don't need the control as much as some others do. She wasn't into fishing but she would go along for bird watching if we would have had more time when she was here. She could also bring along a book.
She was always here when I was working and didn't have much time to really have fun. I told her yesterday to send her x husband down. We were compatible but just because she didn't want to stay married to him, didn't mean she wanted to give up having his friendship.
Her x loves to fix up things, mow grass and fish. He was pretty perfect in my book. He'd go nut over my new lawnmower.
I went to my my routine check up this afternoon. My doc reviewed my report from the colonoscopy and endoscopy. DX - a reaction to the golightly. He said apparently I had an esophagitis and gastritis and apparently the inner lining of the colon was pretty irritated to - as I was "too uncomfortable for them to finish procedure." No problem with lesion. I did get a blood test for h pylori and it was neg. He said there were a lot of eosinophils which can indicate a severe allergic reaction.
DIL is still not responding. She still is draining a little CSF but they are taking drain out tonight. She is not getting any pain meds. She looks 90% better. She is still getting antibiotics. Not walking much because she is sleeping so much. Eating some but not a lot.
Your DIL is not responding to what Jan? She probably needs a lot of down time to get a rest from everything she's had to deal with with her kids.
One of the things I most liked about having students in clinical is that I had the time, when they were busy, to talk with their patients. I've always been interested in the mind body relationship. I learned that life change events and stressors play such an important role in acute and chronic illnesses. I liked to delve into those patient's past lives, this one, to see what kinds of things might be providing that stress.
I learned that a significant etiological factors involved with acute and chronic disease are KIDS. It's not in the medical textbooks but trust me, it's a major factor. They can kill ya.
I'd also see people who had a history of giving and giving to everyone in their family, never getting much in return. Next thing you know is they develop cancer. Now they get to have others taking care of them for a change. Tough trade off.
The moral of that story is...you better take time to take care of number one. It might just save your life.
Maggie is a different breed. She does have a tendency to practice conditional love. She even holds me responsible for what others might do to her. When the Vet was squeezing her anal glands, she was giving me the evil eye and was pissed at me for a very long time.
I talked for a while with DIL's nurse tonight. He was one of my fav students several years ago. Good guy. He said everyone reacts different to brain surgery. He said it may be some time before she is responding like she did before - if ever. Her vital signs are good and stable - no oxygen now and they are not giving her anything for pain and she does not seem to be in pain other than some pressure in her head. They did move her to a "step-down" part of ICU. I think we just have to give her some time to respond. Everyone has been pushing her to wake up and talk.
DIL had what is called a meningioma. They took out a lot of the bone in her skull in the right temporal area and replaced it with a wire mesh that they shaped and put there and it hardened. The tumor or meningioma was pressing on her right optic nerve and on her brain. The nurse tonight said they are not sure if she will regain sight in her right eye.
Chloe, I was reading what you said about Amy and Emma earlier. I see so many young mothers like Amy. You were wise to adopt Emma. She has a much better life in your care. I feel so sad for some of the little children we have in the program I work with. It is easy for me to pick out the moms who are more concerned with who their next boyfriend is going to be rather than how their little child is doing. Makes me want to cry sometimes.
"Everyone has been pushing her to wake up and talk."
Jan, your DIL is not talking or awake? I am having a hard time following exactly how she is doing. I got the impression that she just wasn't up running around yet but not that she was in a coma. That kinda sounds like a coma.
Chloe, you have Emma in what I consider some of a kid's cutest ages, at least that's my opinion. I'm not crazy about infants, they scare me, but toddlers and little kids are so darn cute you just want to squeeze them. Now, they get less cute in that preteen age. That's one of my least favorite ages. I think I like that even less that the teenage years. I know that teenager are very challenging but sometimes more interesting. I seem to relate to teenagers. That's probably why I did well working with inmates. They are all fixated in that stage.
If Amy grows up, gets responsible, she might be ready to take over her duty just about at the time when Emma gets to that less cute age. Then you would have more time to enjoy retirement.
I was out at the camp yesterday and we had another little set back. The hot water heater decided to act up. It was hot feeling, the water lines coming out of the tank were hot, but no hot water would come out of the hot water at the faucets. It was almost like there's a poltergeist at that place. They couldn't even figure it out. The tank was there when I bought the place so it's at least 7 years old.
They decided instead of trying to force it to work, since it is scummed up with lots of rust, they would just get a new one. I totally agree. I told my guys that the camp just doesn't want to say goodbye to them. Hey, I don't either. I want to adopt those guys.
I may not be saying goodbye. The inside is really nice now but the outside of that camp is really still kinda ratty. The roof is great but the rest is not. I found some siding, just painted plywood, that is literally flapping in the breeze. It will take some money to fix the outside but I think that I'm going to invest in it. I think that I really have no choice.
Would any of you want to go to a super bowl game? I think I know the answer to that. My one time experience of attending a live game was not that good even though I'm glad I had it.
Attending games is for younger people or sport's fanatics. I was up in one of the higher seats and that scared me. I felt like I could have fallen to my death even at my seat.
Now, with such nice TVs, it's so much nicer to be at home to watch. A nice comfortable couch or chair, a bathroom close by and any food you want at a reasonable price. You couldn't pay me to go to another game and I heard it can cost up to 20 thou to just attend a super bowl game.
Carol I think you're smart to change out that hot water heater, especially if you have hard water like we do hear. The life range of one is short with our water.
Also, doing the outside of your house will insulate it better. So imho, great choices!
Four years old is a great age for kids, Carol. I can remember way back when I had my son (the only biological baby I ever had) that I enjoyed him so much more around 4, because that's when they really start communicating.
Emma has a virus (doctor doesn't know what) but doesn't seem too horribly ill yet (still asleep) so I'm hoping it won't get worse. It's didn't show up as the flu, so isn't a lot they can prescribe.
Teenagers (at least by 16) are a real pain to raise (usually, and imo) but that's just my personal experience. I'm sure many others have had different experiences with that age group. Mine have bee rebellious.
I do like teenager's though, and enjoyed their friends and taking them places.
" It is easy for me to pick out the moms who are more concerned with who their next boyfriend is going to be rather than how their little child is doing."
Jan, you could be directly talking about Amy in that sentence above. So good to know you understand.
We have legal custody, with all the rights of adoption but I didn't want to make it an adoption because of our age. The difference is she can dispute it later, but she never would. Still holding out hope that she'll learn something in the Army.
She's actually talking about staying in a long time... but I assume after 3.whatever years it is, she may want out. She seems to disagree.
I can't even begin to tell you the hardships Amy has caused us... and cost too.
In order to make her eligible to get in the Army, we had to pay endless tickets and penalties (plus many other things), and the custody attorney charges have be horrific too. Can't do anything without an attorney in this state.
She's in South Carolina for Basic Training, then will go to Missouri for job training before she ships out. Someone mentioned to her she may go to Germany? But from what hubby tells me, you can't believe all they say until you get their orders.Jackson, South Caroline
We will all keep our fingers crossed that this works out Chloe. Is there still a way that she could say, at some point, this is not for me? If she makes it through basic, there's hope.
Carol, If TM is not back up by Monday, I would put a stop on that check you sent him (if I were you). You might see it differently.
I donated a $100 a week or 2 ago on the site. I'm not really sure why WordPress would be that expensive to keep up. Thought it was free, but he probably has a lot of support (a support team). I think Jamie is on Word Press too. (?)
Chloe, I had a ponder that I wrote this morning, responding to a couple of other comments that were posted. One comment was by Tony. He linked an op ed by Gail Collins.
It was also in response to Billy Bova saying that LaPierre makes a million dollars to speak for the NRA. Instead of wasting a ponder, I will post it here.
That was an interesting article that you linked Tony. It gave me a lot to ponder this morning when I read it. I'm talking about the one by Gail Collins.
It made me uncomfortable what Ms Collins reported about Paul Ryan…."He then went on to say that if only the country were under a "Clinton presidency," the fiscal crisis would be fixed."
Yes, I’d agree with what Ryan said but it just doesn't make me comfortable when Paul Ryan gives one of my peeps a compliment. Is he suggesting he'd like to see her as president? We know the other side can't tell the truth to save their souls, cuz many don't have a soul. Why would he say something nice? I wasn't comfortable reading that they were even chatting like friends. When the enemy likes someone, I’m not sure I still do.
I’m not really sure that I actually trust any politicians. I loved Bill C but he did things that made me wonder..and I’m not talking about his doing that woman even though it wasn't his finest hour, dumbass. I do trust Hillary more than I would ever trust Bill. A few who I also feel real comfortable with are Bernie Sanders and until she lets me down, Liz Warren. Please don’t let me down Liz. I’m sorry but I've never really trusted Obama, but there is still time for him to fix that.
It’s just that money is so corrupting. Have you ever pondered whether money corrupts everyone? Have you ever pondered whether it would corrupt you? If you were Wayne L, would you be singing the praises of the NRA for a million bucks a year salary? I’m not bragging, but I really don't think that money would corrupt me. It has never been that important to me. Hey, I just quit a high paying job because they wanted to add to my work and it would require me to have to do a half ass job. I could have gotten away with doing that before, because most of those I worked for really didn't give a poop if I did. I’m the one who insisted I do a full ass job.
I've really gotten that same feeling about Craig, I don't think that he would sell out.
You may wonder why I feel the way I do about Craig. I wasn't sucking up. In the past he has quit being on certain new's shows because he didn't like how they treated him. He makes his living being a pundit so when he walks on one of those shows, he loses money.
Carol, I haven't lost the site, I just was being in too big of a hurry and messed up.
I'm so glad you left that link from Tony. It's a great article.
I don't think Ryan said nice things (even if they may be true) 'to be nice' but probably partly to split up the Democratic party a little bit. I do agree with him, but don't trust his motives.
The Clinton's are friendly with everyone, so that coziness probably wasn't unusual. I don't think they're always partisan during non-partisan meetings or get togethers.
I guess you're telling me some of the comments disappeared before I got to Craig's this morning.
When I got there, the last comment was one Flatus made before midnight about Cats. I guess everything must have stopped at midnight, Feb. 1. Unless it's just temporary.
If it's not temporary, it would be nice if Tony and anyone else that wants to would drop by here. Tony always has the best links, and I sure will miss going through my days without him sharing them if not.
It would be nice to be able to link things that we find interesting here. I know you, Jan, don't like politics... and I won't do that if it makes you uncomfortable.
It's hard to tell what's going to happen at this point.
Carol, What did you mean 'if' Amy makes it through Boot Camp? Hubby said years ago (many, many years ago) that everyone went through again until they go through it. I thought it was a done deal once they were sworn in (and she was).
She's been texting and calling occasionally, but today they took away her cell phone until boot camp is over (they had 90 seconds to make a call).
Chloe, I like Tony's links also. I'd never read that Gail Collins before. TM was up this morning when I got up and Flatus was the last one to post a comment, about the cats. Usually Craig puts a new post up around 6 or so. I figured something was wrong since there were no comments late and no new post up.
I recorded Dr Phil, who I usually don't much care for. He did a 2 day interview with that young man who had that online relationship with Manti Teo, the football player. He pretended to be a woman. That's really a strange and sad story. I'm afraid for that guy. I just hope Dr Phil's program doesn't push that guy into suicide.
I never thought you were 'sucking up' to Craig, Carol. What would you have to gain from it?
I don't see being nice to anyone as 'sucking up', unless it's phony and done for selfish reasons to get something from someone.
It's all about motive. I think being kinds to others (for no reason) is an end in itself. Not to make them like you, not for anything selfish, but because it makes the giver feel just as good as the receiver.
I'm going to finish this lousy Italian language DVD I've had sitting here from Netflix for about a week now. I'm too stubborn to not finish it before I send it back. I need to order some more.
Tomorrow I'll open my DA Dvd that I bought online, and start it. At some point I'll catch up with you guys, and then I'll watch them on Sundays like you do.
I really, really loved that fairytale ending of the last one. As you know, I'm a sucker for happy endings and a hopeless romantic.
Add that to my being a frustrated idealist, and you'll realize why I'm such a mess.
You can't even find fiction these days that comes close to being as weird as non-fiction. If they tried to pass some of this stuff off as a fiction TV show we'd think that it was sci-fi.
Also, very strange, is this trial they are covering on Tru TV. This young, very pretty, innocent looking woman brutally killed her boyfriend. Because she is so pretty and innocent looking, she may get off. It's a death penalty case. A big mistake in my opinion.
If you wonder why I say she is guilty, it's because.. after saying she wasn't there, she changed her story to armed assailants did it, then changed it to it was self defense. She shot him in the face, almost cut his head off clean off and stabbed him close to 30 times. Kinda rough for self defense. He was trying to dump her but was still enjoying having a kinky sexual relationship with her. It is a seedy sordid story. X rated.
Chloe, I would appreciate any discussion you would like to offer on DA up to where Jan and I are. I'm not sure what episode we're on..maybe the third one?? We just saw Sybil having her baby. That was the last episode and very depressing. Get tissues.
You make me laugh Chloe. You often think so much like me. I went to post my comment to TM this morning and thought that either Craig was tired of my comments or that my comment crashed the entire site. We do have a tendency to be a tad on the paranoid side. LOL
"Maybe it WAS the combination of both of us. We might have killed TM."
I came back to respond to your money corrupts comments, and saw what you wrote about our paranoia.
Now you got me laughing out loud too. I'm always telling you to not carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, but now I realize we are sharing the load.
BTW, what I was going to remind you of, reg. your does money corrupt question is to not forget, there may be some truth behind the saying: MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
... just not for us. Maybe we just don't have enough of it to know. (?)
I watch so much of Investigative Discovery or HLN or Tru TV about all these murders that I'm glad I don't keep an assault rifle in the house. I'd be worried that one day my switch might snap and I'll go off on some innocent unsuspecting possum.
Well, has everyone decided who they will be pulling for in the Super Bowl Sunday? After much consideration...I've decided to pull for the E-trade baby. He's my fav.
I guess you may have heard that George Bush's Barney died. His little Scottie. That makes me sad. Every year, around Christmas, I would Google to find the latest Barney Christmas video. I just loved them and I loved that aspect of George. I loved the little boy George. He was cool and funny. George would have made a great comedian. He missed his calling. He had a great sense of humor.
I never ever saw George as being in control of anything. They just gave him the big boy toys to play with, Air Force One, the White House, etc, while evil people ran the show. Those evil people included Chaney and Rove. I can look at them and actually see the horns coming out of their heads.
John taped that interview Dr. Phil had with the guy who pretended to be a woman talking to the Mateo Ti guy. It was very sad. Just shows how devastating sexual abuse is for people when it happens when they are kids. I fully believe the guy.
I believe if he were going to commit suicide, he would have done it now. A lot will depend on how his family "really" reacts to his confessions. I sincerely hope Dr. Phil sees that he gets plenty of therapy.

Jan, I want your input on that stuff I put up yesterday on Eclampsia. It did that for you since it's in your area of expertise, not mine. I know nada.
I thought the stuff was pretty interesting and funny.
I agree with you there Jan, re the Bible but then, I haven't read it all.
And what are you refering to as
2-faced Carol, as far as Chris Christie?...if it is that he wants
$$ to benefit NJ as a result of Sandy...careful, since as far as those of us up here where our collective $$$ have subsidized a huge segment of this country for years with little reimbursement...it's about time some of it comes back where it originated...
You are way overpaying your fair share of taxes Coreen and it's given to the rich banks, oil companies, CEOs etc. That's certainly not the Dems fault. Let's have a flat tax and everyone pay, no loopholes.
Big sis and I were also discussing the honey issue yesterday but did they know then what we know now? I don't think so.
Jan about that FB 'like'...I think that you can 'hide' items that come up on your page...to the right of the item it usually says
'sort' or there is just an arrow if you hover near arrow & then it says 'hide' or report as spam, & you can press hide & it removes the item from your page...
I certainly don't regret helping yous people up there Coreen. But Christie has made comments one day that he had to eat a couple of days later.
Under Republican leadership, the people in NO waited a good while just to be rescued while Bush was saying..you are doing a heck of a job Brownie.
Coreen, it ain't the Dems that think that the government shouldn't help out when it's really needed. It's your boys. They also voted against help for the area for a while.
So is that what it is with Christie? If so, that is exactly what he should be doing for his
constituents...Get back some of their $$$...
And Carol, residents in NJ, NY
& some of CT are still waiting..so forget about NO & Bush...obama showed up before the election took credit & today there are still many w/o any help, so don't give me that bush bull...
And the key in your comment is "when really needed"...the problem is separating what is needed...& who decides what is needed..fema was set up to do what it is needed in NJ, Christie is not
expecting more than the laws allow, so do give me 2-faced...doesn't fly with me...
Well, I've read that some of those big corps don't pay crap in taxes Coreen.
GE for one:
"G.E.’s Strategies Let It Avoid Taxes Altogether"
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/25/business/economy/25tax.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
Look at this article. These are Obama's peeps.
"Treasury Disregarded Own Guidelines, Allowed Executive Raises At Bailed-Out GM, AIG: Report"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/28/treasury-raises-bailed-out-firms_n_2568235.html
I stand by my comments.
Why do we bother discussing politics Coreen? We will never agree. At least you are willing to investigate the paranormal. We are more compatible there. I'm somewhat paranormal.
Jan, I was real surprised that mag sulfate went back that far also. I think by the time the family doc got involved
In Sybil's case, it was too late.
Probably.

I don't remember seeing that fifth picture with all the yellow flowers. My favorite color of flowers. They're really beautiful.
Weird, I just made two comments, but only the second one showed up.
Basically it was telling you, Carol how much I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful pictures of your river.
Also, yes... I do remember Vertigo very well. Hope you have another owl show up this Spring.
Now pic 10 has some red flowers.
Carol,
The same thing happened with your kitty pictures. I was seeing them lighter colored than you said. Pic number 5 looks like a bed of yellow flowers.
The color on my laptop must be WAY OFF. I'll probably just keep it that way. I really do love the yellow (I'm imagining I see).
I just blew it up and I can make out the trees as probably (probably, meaning my color is off) being green with a yellow sun tone.
I knew the colors faded, etc. on this computer, but I didn't realize how much. Apparently they not only fade, but change completely.
... just in case you're wondering: no, I'm not color blind. :)
BTW,
I LOVE all those pictures, except the one of the dead fish.
I'm not a fisherman and I don't eat fish. I even worry when I go to WM or PetSmart and see fish dead in the tank. I avoid them.
Weird, I know.
But I have quickly skip over that picture when viewing the rest.
Actually both fish were still alive at that time. I do get them very cold before I clean them.
Those trees did have a yellow green color because of the affect of the setting sun on them.
Carol, you keep saying you can't be on the 'right'...yet you of all people foster views that are so-called right/conservative views...most recently, your call for a'flat tax'...just like your
love for Buddy...all of his positions that you agreed with are
standard right talking points...
he was & likely remains a republican, especially in his view of the reach of govt...
Question for you, prior to your
interest in Hillary, were you 'political' in your views ?...
and yes I know that you have said you have never been comfortable with your neighbors' views, and those of your entire state govt, that you find fox to be the devil incarnate.. as well as talk radio
which has been the home for right/conservative views for I think something like 20 years...that was their first forum
& yes the most popular talkers as
evidenced by 'talker' are rush & hannity, but that's because they
consistently continue to command an audience...it's always about the money remember...
For years there has not been a successful left leaning radio station...air america tried went bellyup, but it did lead to good old al franken, jumping into politics...& fyi, that was where rachel maddow was first heard...I actually listened to AA...sad that it just couldn't cut it...
as far as left leaning personalities (not falling for your attempt to preempt any names by saying "someone who people heard of")...start with the entire cast of characters at msnbc
from maddow, schultz, (who also was on air america before it filed bankruptcy)o'donnell, the fired olberman (who's ego continually gets him dumped everywhere), to the failed current zeros including your buddy cenk, a big loser...and for a radio
mainstays stephanie miller & thom hartman...(& yes their views are equally offensive to those on the right as the rush & his progeny are to you & other libs)...Just saying...
there may come a time when left leaning talk is as successful as right talk has been so that it is heard nationwide, who knows, they need an audience to support them so far, not so much...maybe the generation that everyone is saying is the future of the dems will acquire a longer attention span...& a loyal audience...
He became a so-called 'indie' because he couldn't get party backing...still held all repub
views...
You know that I know that clowns work on both sides! You must give me credit there.
Last night HW said she heard something about where he was but couldn't remember. I hate it when someone tells me that. Better not to say than to say you might know but can't remember.
You are not an equal opportunity basher, by any means...
Sorry that Maggie is again exhibiting signs of a problem, the not eating depending on how long would be a big concern...
In your opinion (& to those who are veer left) those lefties aren't clowns...to the other side,
they are equal or maybe more clownish...
As for bill oreilly, in the past I would hazard a a guess that those on the left called him a right wing wacko, though he likely would claim to be middle of the road, call it like it is, indie...
its all in the eyes of the beholder...
We need to give up and just agree to disagree.
Ok, guys. Couldn't help but think of this song (hope you'll forgive me. :)
Stuck in the middle with you
"Trying to make some sense of it all,
But I can see that it makes no sense at all,
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you."
Stuck in the middle with you
There's a song out there for everything Chloe.
And Jan, once you mentioned what a nice voice she has, I paid better attention and yes, it is so beautiful.
.. sorry for the 3 happy's.
I do remember when Anna said that to Bates. You already got season 3? Neat. I think I'd rather just wait to see it each week. That way I can savor it.
I'm looking forward to meeting my friend for dinner tonight. I haven't seen her since I left the joint. We're going to a Greek/Lebanese restaurant.
Carol, I hope you really enjoy your dinner out tonight with your friend.
I'm worried about Maggie. The tail between the legs always worries me. Have you changed her diet? Does the vet know what she eats?
Sorry... just curious.
Please God, I don't need any more challenges.
She IS a major drama queen. Always has been.
Maggie is not much trouble considering I have no one else to take care of. We all need someone or something to take care of. Chloe, you have the real prize with little Emma. I bow down to you.
Has her mom ever wanted to take her back?
After the reading the Da Vinci Code, and discussing that with big sis, I started yearning to know more about who wrote the
Bible.
I should have known that you would have all of Maggie's preventative parasite problems covered.
I don't know what I was thinking.
"We just accept shit because it's there and many people just don't want to know why?"
I think because it's easier, Carol. It takes a lot of courage to question things. And it's even harder to admit we've been wrong. Our world doesn't change unless we do.
Jeez,
You came home from that dinner with so much to think about!
In doing so, you've given me a lot to think about too. But no more time to do that now. I've got to get this show on the road.
Thanks for sharing all that Chloe!
You did make some very good selections also Jan. Dang it, give yourself some credit sister. You spend too much time putting yourself down.
My motto is "never give up." A right person is out there - notice I did not say "the right person."
Women can be "bad boys" too.
I have just always known that I liked having a close relationship with a partner. I am willing to work at it if the other person is too. My dad was that way too. I guess I have some of his characteristics - I think the good ones.
Everyone needs to be loved - by someone. It is a basic human need.
When it comes to love or the kind of love, gender does not matter.
How about the species Jan? Does that matter? Will Maggie's love do, and the kitties? It's a lot less complicated. Well, maybe not. Maggie is pretty complicated.
And she's pretty conditional with her love.
If I could just get those critters to pull their share of the weight around here.
Even when I go to quilting classes, most women bring a friend and are not usually looking for more.
Harder to find compatible friends at our age.
I don't like the way he does it. So it is best not to complain"
That's their strategy Jan. You should have figured that out by now.
Sis' ex sounds would be great for a friend. When he has time, Terry does these things for me. He is my fav son.
My BP is 113/69; HbAqC is 5.7%. Total Chol is l84; HDL is 47; LDL is 118 (too high); trig is 93; Vit D is 43.
Not telling my wt - it is too much but not obese.
So I am fine.
Not ever doing the golightly again. He said I can do clear liquids for 3 days next time.
Carol, maybe you could trade X for sis. LOL. just kidding.
DIL is still not responding. She still is draining a little CSF but they are taking drain out tonight. She is not getting any pain meds. She looks 90% better. She is still getting antibiotics. Not walking much because she is sleeping so much. Eating some but not a lot.
" How about the species Jan? Does that matter? Will Maggie's love do, and the kitties? It's a lot less complicated"
yep, I tell anyone, if you want unconditional love, get a dog.
Loved reading your conversation, Carol and Jan, It was perfect, so I won't add a thing, or ask a thing.
ps (Jan, you couldn't be more right about a doggie companion being the only one that gives unconditional love. Glad your health is under control)
Can't wait to watch the super bowl....commercials. Could care less about the game.
Chloe, I read earlier that your daughter has joined a branch of the service. Does sound like that might be good for her.
Did you guys have a favorite age with your kids?
Carol
I think you're smart to change out that hot water heater, especially if you have hard water like we do hear.
Jeez, I can't get that link right... one more try:

Looks like TM is acting up this morning.
Carol,
If TM is not back up by Monday, I would put a stop on that check you sent him (if I were you).
Take a Bow, H.C.
Chloe, if you lost that site that shows us how to make a blue link, here it is again. You are the one who found it and gave it to us.
Creating a hyperlink in the comments box
Often, I'm just too lazy to use it.
If this doesn't straighten her out, nothing will.
Both benefit from kindness.
I tried to comment around 7am and thought maybe I was blocked for something I'd said. I'd push submit, and nada (to use your word) :)
LOL
Maybe it WAS the combination of both of us. We might have killed TM.
If that is the case, we'll need a quick alibi. I was with you the entire time. OK?
ROTFLMAO
"Maybe it WAS the combination of both of us. We might have killed TM."
I came back to respond to your money corrupts comments, and saw what you wrote about our paranoia.
Now you got me laughing out loud too. I'm always telling you to not carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, but now I realize we are sharing the load.
BTW, what I was going to remind you of, reg. your does money corrupt question is to not forget, there may be some truth behind the saying: MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
... just not for us. Maybe we just don't have enough of it to know. (?)
Oh god, I've got to leave here.
I can't stop laughing.
We were getting close to running out of room. I put up a quick new post but anyone is welcome to put up another one.
