Well, well, well. I
think I’m happy. My flavor, not exactly
my favorite, won. Man, can he give a speech
and we’re praying that this time the hope and change will show up a lot sooner
than it did last time. Since things are
starting to stabilize and he’s not starting his term standing on the edge of a
cliff, I’m expecting some really good change this time or I promise....I’ll never
vote for him again, for president. Oh…I
can’t anyway, huh.
I woke up to some change I CAN believe in. MORE women in the senate. Is it now 20 or 21? Not
anywhere close to gender parity but I really do think that women did wake up
for this election and start realizing that we do have the power. It’s a start. Those
candidates who felt that there’s such a thing as a “legitimate rape” or one
that God endorsed, LOST. Thank God. More
states approve of marriage equality. And now we see how the conservatives
really stand on family values and abortion, that dude won. I knew it. The issue of abortion is just a red herring. It's one of the ways they try to suck in the religious right.
What makes me the most excited is…. that Elizabeth Warren
won! The senate now has a
conscience!

I fell asleep before it was over but did wake up just before 1 am to see that Obama had won re-election. Glad I didn't wake up with the (?) in charge. He might have been a good choice for president but who could know? He was the multiple choice candidate. I liked some of his ideas but they just changed too often.
What did I miss? Anything else exciting?

Wow....way to go Colorado and Washington....!!!! Finally someone is starting to see the light.....and now we can begin our "Hillary 2016" campaign.
And Michelle wore a dress she's worn a couple of times before. Just goes to show ya that the Obama's are also conservative. Do ya think Ann would have worn a recycled dress???

I'm still in shock over my home state of Georgia. 70 percent for Romney....just cannot believe the south is mostly Republicans , or so they "think" they are. Even my poor brother has been brain washed by his Republican father in law, still says Obama was born in Kenya and is a Muslim.
Ann and Mitt now can drive off into the sunset in their "couple of Cadillacs"...and a big yahoo to Elizabeth Warren, just love that lady.
Wonder how Ann Coulter is feeling this morning...I'm sure we'll hear from her soon and poor Donald Trump, he made a fool of himself and for what? He's still just as rich as he was yesterday, now he can go back to counting his money instead of acting stupid.
What just makes no sense to me is that the uber rich don't want to put one penny more in the collection plate but they'll pour tons into trying to buy an election to save a few cents.

I do agreee with Matt Dowd about how much the country has changed in the last 25 years but the repub party has not changed with it...they need to get with the times....cause as Bob Dylan sang " The Times they are a changin"
I feel for Ann Romney sincerely. Saw her on Inside Edition today and this election has really taken a toll on her. I hope Mitt takes her on a well deserved vacay.

That just tells me that they have WAY too much money to know what to do with it. Why is paying a little more in taxes sooo bad? If someone has that kind of money, they are blessed. They aren't any smarter and they don't work any harder than many of those at the other end of the continuum.
And what's with Linda E. McMahon, the woman who spent 100 million of her own money on two senate runs?? Someone needs to explain that to me. Is that an investment?
I promise I could find ways to have more fun with 100 million dollars.
I really don't understand why the Republicans are sooo surprised with the results of this election. Not many of them even liked Romney from the get go.
Romney losing the election doesn't bother me at all, Carol.
What bothers me is that once again we have 'rewarded' the people on top for bad behavior.
I'll just leave it at that, because I want nothing to do with politics any more. We all know that special interest groups are running this country, and they'll continue to do whatever it takes to keep that power. End of story.
On a more personal note, daughter (Emma's) mom has enlisted in the army (she's 24). She won't be leaving for basic training until late January though.
I'm really hoping this will turn her life around, and from what hubby says about what it's like being in the military, there's no doubt she'll change.
Emma won't remember that during these early years, her mother wasn't involved in her life in any meaningful way, because by the time her long term memory of childhood kicks in (which is around 7, I think, which is how long they live in a very egocentric world) she will just be proud that her mother was serving her country, and that's the reason she hasn't seen her often.
By then (4 years from now) who knows what will happen. But that gives us 4 more years to make sure that Emma gets the love and security she needs to build the rest of her life on.
I can tell you one thing, there's not a more love child in the world than her.

I watched some videos of people standing in the cold in long lines, some for up to 7-8 hours. Some of them were very old. Many were tired, thirsty and hungry. No..this wasn't up in the northeast, in the area hit by Sandy, it was in lines to vote. That's a sin IMO. Seems that this was more common in areas where many minorities go to vote. Some in power may have bet that no one would tolerate those conditions just to vote. Thank God they were wrong. I'm really proud of the American people.
I certainly think that Emma's mom will learn some discipline. She's brave to do what she's doing and it's great that she knows that is what she needs.
No doubt in my mind that little Emma is loved.

Chloe, I'm seeing some signs that indicate to me that... times, they are a changing. My heart feels lighter today.
Emma's mom may be trying to make you all proud of her. I don't know much about Emma's mom but for some reason, I feel like maybe I do.

I'm glad you're in a place where you have faith in the future... that you really feel things are going to turn around.
I can't say that I necessarily feel the same way about the country as a whole (haven't decided if even more will continue to suffer), but I can say that this election doesn't affect my personal life one way or the other.
I'm not and never have been a political person.
But all that aside, your good feelings make me feel better too. I hate to think that I may actually feel more at home in a state of disillusionment than I like to admit.
.... but even with all that said, I still know for a fact that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
So on an intellectual (or emotional) level, I am not able to connect to your optimism for the future of our country without something drastically changing.
... but hell, why not.
I'll follow your lead and expect nothing less than a rosy future for 'all' Americans.

Well, I've gone 24 hours now without having to go find missing crying kitties in the cluttered pool house. Mama kitty doesn't know how to pick them up and put them back on the seat. I put two large plastic garden pots, laying down, openings facing one another, one at each end of the love seat. That's to keep them from falling out the opening at each end. I bought them a nice new blanket to go in between. I have a table and some pool noodles across the front of the seat. That may keep them for a little while.
Mama doesn't seem to be too bothered with me helping her out. She sits quietly under the love seat. Babies hiss at me.
Coreen, I'm trying to monitor your snow fall. I'm using Wunderground and your weather guy, Geoff's blog. I figure you are probably OK since you've got Gennie. I feel for those who not only don't have a Gennie, but don't even have a house left. Life ain't fair.
