My Colorado grandkids

My grandkids in Colo posted these photos on FB this morning.  I cannot resist reposting them here. They took their little boys out to see the changing of the leaves recently.  This is my grandson and his wife and their 2 children, 34 months and 9 months old.

What a truly beautiful family Jan...

the pics are fantastic...what a backdrop for them...the mountains, the sky, the autumn color...

Carol said...

Very nice pics of the fly and autumn Jan. I haven't noticed any color changes here yet. We did finally have a little cool front come through. It's down to 70 now.

I watched the poor Saints this afternoon. The ref made at least 3 bad calls...in our favor. I was wondering if the real refs were actually back. They gave us several chances and we still lost but by only 1 point. Still 0-4 for the season. Drew did better today but I still think someone made some bad decisions. He certainly doesn't have the eye he used to have. He threw the ball away once when there was a receiver wide open. They really need a coach.

Thanks Carol and Coreen. My Granddaughter In law posted the pics this morning on FB and I almost cried. I think I am going to have to make a trip there soon.

Carol, glad you are getting some cool weather. Our hi temps are in mid to lo 80's and mornings are 50's. I love this weather.

Carol said...

This is what I so love about the advance in technology and the Internet. I love the ease in which we can access knowledge. Did you know this?

"The largest factor in why leaves change color in the autumn is photoperiodism-the length of day and night. As the nights get longer in Autumn, the process of senescence becomes apparent through color change and the falling of leaves, leading the tree into it's winter dormancy."

But..."And, not all trees respond to photoperiodism at all - some respond more to temperature or rainfall. In the forests of eastern North America though, of the trees that change color in the autumn, most are responding to photoperiodism."

..."Most notable in the process is the destruction of the chlorophyll which has been responsible for the green color of the leaves throughout the spring and summer and plant growth. As the photoperiod decreases, the plants ability to synthesize chlorophyll becomes reduced, and yellow and orange carotinoids and xanthophylls, always present within the leaf, begin to show. Water and nutrients are being drawn into the stems and away from the leaves. Additionally, senescing cells also produce other chemicals, particularly anthocyanins, responsible for red and purple colors. Some species, particularly the Oaks, contain high quantities of tannins in the leaves which are responsible for brown colors."

The Scientific Basis For Autumn

One of the prettiest trees for color changes in our area is a tree that is considered a nuisance. It's the Chinese tallow tree. It's really a pain in the arse in pasture land. It grows fast.

Carol said...

I think that the Long Island medium will be on Dr Oz today or next Monday. Just heard the ad for it. Said Monday.

Carol said...

It's today.

jan said...

We taped it. Watching it now.

Carol said...

Jan, your GS's face in that pic of your GS and his son shows pure bliss. It's such a neat pic. All the pics are great. I love the tree colors. This morning I was trying to figure where the red color comes in with the color changes of the trees. I think it follows the yellow. Anyone ever pay attention to that?

I was looking at the trees on my way to the camp today and all I noticed was green and some dead leaves. Seems I've remembered where they have gone from green to dead.

I also looked up which trees have the best color changes and I have two in my camp yard that are included in the group. I'll have to watch both of them.

Carol said...

Jan, are you watching DWTS tonight? If so, I'll wait for you to start watching and watch the beginning of the Voice first.

jan said...

I am pleased you noticed that pic of Gary and the look on his face when his son was hugging him. I thought that was priceless. He is such a good dad. He was a funny little kid. He was so ADHD. He took medication for it when in jr hi and it helped a lot. He was the sweetest boy. He visited us several summers in LR when he was in his 11-15. sometimes he would "jangle my last nerve" with his hyperness and I would get irritated. Sometimes I would fuss at him, and he would apologize and never was angry with my fussiness. Of all my grandsons, I am closest to him. I think it was because I spent a lot of time with him and his sister when they were growing up.

jan said...

We are watching DWTS. So far it is good. I feel sorry for Bristol. She is just not a dancer - but she has improved. I think she has lost some weight too.

jan said...

Kirstie did very well. I almost did not recognize her. She looks good in that little short dark hair cut. `

jan said...

I did watch the Long Island Medium today on Oz. very interesting. I don't know how she does it. If she has a trick - its a good one.

jan said...

Loved DWTS tonight. The competition was heavy. My favorite dance was Gilles. He is a great dancer - and he danced with an injury to his leg. Hope he doesn't pay for that!

Coreen said...

DWTS competition is tops this season...The guys so far have been all so close hard to pick among them...but tonite...Apolo, Giles,
Drew, Helio...

The girls...Kelly(my sentimental fav, she plays Sam on General Hospita) & Shawn (she has a big advantage, since Derek is by far the best choreographer & really the best dance partner...but so far the guys have it...

Hate to see any of them go...

The bottom for me...Bristol who I agree is much improved but just should not be in this group...Kirstie love her,(though I wonder about that scientology schtick, don't get that at all) give her lots of credit for her efforts, she does a great job, enjoy watching her, but again
just outclassed by the above group...Likewise Joey Fatone, entertaining, but just not good enough...

For me, this week it would be Bristol then Joey...Keep Kirstie in there for a little longer...

Honestly I have no idea who should be the winner in the end, really like them all...

Coreen said...

Theresa Caputo was just on Letterman...he was not only skeptical but dismissive in a funny haha way...not buying it...though he was not mean...

I have seen her show a few times...tlc sunday nights, & while I don't disbelieve, I'd have to be
the person she read to be convinced...

One of my friends has gone to mediums, she is a believer...keep talking about going to see one with her, maybe we will...

Theresa Caputo has a 2 year wait to get a reading with her...she is about an hour or so away from here...

Carol said...

I like the fast dances but I feel a little SOB just watching. Can't really say who I thought was best. Yes, I do think Bristol was on the bottom. She's sooo outclassed with talent. She had to have guts just to compete this season.

I also wasn't crazy about Kirstie but I have to give her credit for not croaking on the dance floor. She's 61 and overweight.

Emmitt was disappointing this week and I have trouble believing that Gilles really strained a muscle. He really couldn't do what he did with a real muscle strain. He may have had a sore muscle.

Carol said...

Coreen, I did see Letterman last night because TW called to tell me that Colbert was going to be on. I don't watch him often but something seemed a little strange about Dave, for the entire show. His affect was very strange. I was wondering if he was on something or just not feeling good.

Unless it's a set up, I am impressed with the LIM...Long Island medium. Maybe more impressed than some of those who preceded her. She must be making a killing in money but I wouldn't want to have to deal with dead people all day. It's bad enough just dealing with the live ones.

I was waiting for her to tell Dave something that one of his dead relatives was saying but maybe Dave wasn't into knowing. I kinda think the dead relatives may show up only if one is open to having that happen.

I am glad I saw the show last night because I found out Colbert was interviewed by Oprah. It repeats on Oct 7 at 8p et.

Coreen said...

Looks like the weather guys are stumped again...is there an El Nino
on the way or not...will it be just a baby el nino or one that ends the drought...

But Carol, looks like if it pans out as the experts are saying we will both get wet...& in my case that could mean snow...

Do you think the LI Medium could help them out....

Just think that Letteman was just being Letterman...
El Nino or not

Carol said...

I recently looked up the winter predictions for our areas. I remember that your area and mine would be cooler and wetter which means more snow for you Coreen. All I remember was Jan's would be wetter.

Carol said...

Have you guys seen or heard any of the interviews with Arnold S? I've seen just a few minutes of a couple of them. Just enough for me to determine that he's a dick wad. I'm quite sure that Maria knew what she was getting. He was the same before she married him. I can't believe the people of Cal-e-fornia actually elected him the governator. Give people a recognizable name and they'll push that lever.

Carol said...

And this business of trying to lower our expectations for the big debate...They think we'll think if they don't poop their pants it's a win. A few of us aren't that dumb.

Carol said...

I'm still painting but have to take frequent breaks. Should have hired someone to do it.

Carol said...

BB question Coreen. Do the Yankees and Baltimore have to have a playoff to determine who wins their division? They have both clinched playoff berths in their division. If so, how many games are played to determine the winner?

Carol said...

I just saw a headline where Arnold says he will get back with Maria. If she goes back to that turd, then she needs some mental help. He humiliated her.

Coreen said...

Too soon to know yet Carol...If the Yankees win tonite & tomorrow
they are division winners...

But at this moment they are behind the red sox 2-0 in the bottom of 2nd...it rained today until dark, but they still started the game on time...

too many scenarios could affect...if yanks win tonite & orioles lose that makes them champs, but if yanks lose & orioles
win, the last game remains for both & depending on that outcome would decide the winner or a 1 game playoff between them on thursday...toooooo much to think about...only know the yankees have it all in their own hands...THEY NEED TO WIN TONITE & TOMORROW!!!...

Coreen said...

Can't be to quick to jump on arnold/maria...remember that hill stayed with bill & what he did was astoundingly humiliating...never know what/why women do what they do when it comes to 'their' guy...

Yankees just scored a run...

Carol said...

Let's see Coreen...Did Bill pork the maid and have his kid from the woman right there under his wife's and child's noses? Did he include any of his crap in his memoirs without considering how this would humiliate his wife and child? I think Arnold is a much bigger cad. I guess it is just a matter of opinion.

Coreen said...

Well let's see Carol...I don't care what their sluggish behavior was, they both were pigs...bill humiliated hill before the world & she elected to stay & deal with it, for whatever her reasons...that was her choice...

Obviously to you there are degrees of piggish behavior & you consider arnold's worse than bills....your choice...I simply don't agree with your comment that if maria went back to him, she would need mental help because he humiliated her... a bit to judgmental for my money...you just never know why a woman would stay with a guy who screws her over, but not up to anyone other than them to make that call...

Carol said...

I reserve the right to be judgmental.

Coreen said...

Tonite's game is why it is so much fun to be a Yankee fan....it just never gets old...

Ties it in the 9th...& in the 12th
the #3 catcher(who was just brought up in Sept, hadn't even been at bat for over a month) manages to work a walk with 2 outs & Ibanez who tied it in the 9th with a 2 run homer, gets another hit & Cervelli goes home for the win...

And they have to go out & do it again tomorrow...

Carol said...

Occasionally BB is entertaining. The playoffs is one time. Most of the time it is sooooo slow. I need more activity to keep my interest. I have to sit through a lot of boring to catch those few moments of high excitement.

Carol said...

Are y'all planning to watch the debate?

Carol said...

Coreen, infidelity is a reality in many marriages and maybe it can even save some marriages. And I assume many married people accept that. To me, it's more how it is done which separate the creeps from the really big creeps.

Carol said...

I didn't waste any of my time watching DWTS last night and I'm soo glad I didn't. It's not a dancing competition.

Carol said...

What's crazy is that Bristol was even invited to an all star program. Maybe they should have stuck with just the winners of the past programs. Even having Kirstie was a stretch. Maybe they should have called the program..people who can't dance that well but are popular with the viewers. Or they could have had both kinds of dance offs but they shouldn't have mixed them.

Carol said...

I see that McQueary is filing a whistle blower suit Penn State. Good for him. I think he may be the one most responsible for Sandusky finally going down. He had to lose a lot to see to it. People still criticize him for not doing more at the time it happened. That is sooo ridiculous. People with so much more power than him did nothing. If he would have done more at the time, he would have gone down much harder and sooner. That kid he saw in the shower never even came forward when it was safe to come forward.

Carol said...

And again..for DWTS..I guess they had to fit in a little "Honey Boo Boo" into the program because that seems to be what sells these days. I guess watching people compete with those who are way out of their league and fall flat makes us feel a little better about ourselves. We can feel superior to them..even if we aren't.

And speaking of Honey Boo Boo, the family is finally getting a raise and with their popularity, they deserve one. I Googled it a while back and they were not making much money. One source said about 2-4 thou an episode and it listed having about 10 episodes. That's chump change when it comes to how popular the show is. And really what is kinda neat about the Boo Boo clan is..they are totally comfortable in their skins and don't give a hoot what others think. That is such a contrast to most celebrities. We all need to learn to be more comfortable in our skins. We can't all fit into the "perfect" category. We may not have much..but it's all we got.

jan said...

I suspect the reason DWTS had Kirstie and Bristol is because they draw a certain audience. I am sure the producers are looking at those stars who bring in the bigger audiences.

I like Kirstie for the same reason you gave about the Honey Boo Boo show. These people are comfortable in with themselves. They are not trying to put on a persona that is not who they are.

Carol said...

And that brings up something in the news. Some idiot named Kenneth Krouse wrote on a Facebook new's channel website a very insulting letter to one of the female anchors about her being fat and a poor role model. Check out her response.

The Best Thing You’ll See All Day: Local News Anchor Has On-Air Message for Viewer Who Called Her Fat

Fat is not always the fault of the person wearing it. I happen to have a lot of experience with that. For years I was grossly thin. That was also not my fault even though it was more acceptable. Even being very thin, I had a number of people tell me I was too thin..like I was doing that on purpose. At the time I didn't know why. It took years to finally find out that my thyroid was screaming high. I ate like a pig and couldn't gain an ounce.

Now, that I found and finally fixed the problem, I have the opposite problem.

I'm glad to see that this anchor turned it around into what is actually was...a bullying issue! Shame on that idiot.

Carol said...

Jan, I'd rather see and think it would be more fair for DWTS to have those dancers who weren't winners but really demonstrated that with lots of effort, most people can learn to dance. Just separate the shows.

I think that I enjoyed watching those who really started bad, two left feet, turning into good dancers. I think more of us can relate to them.

Debate watch...probably, depends on how the yankee game is going...right now it is foggy, misty, drizzly evening here & in NY

This short interactive of body language of Obama & Romney is interesting, if not conclusive...

wha romney & obama body language says

Carol said...

Saw the end of that race on our local news tonight Coreen.

What network are you watching the debate on? Fox?

Coreen said...

The Yankees are ahead 7-1 bottom of the 5th...so not tense like last night...

the debate...well it sure won't be msnbc or nbc...its on every network channel here & cable as well...

Carol said...

I was trying to watch the live chat at Craig's place and I can't make it work.

Carol said...

So far with the debate...yuk for both. They both seem very nervous.

Carol said...

Is Honey Boo Boo on tonight?

jan said...

The debate is more of the same pandering. I like what Bill Maher says about Romney. "Mitt says healthcare works at state level but not federal - do people get sick differently by state? NO!!!"

Mitt also wants to do away with the subsidy to PBS. Now I am pissed off. That is really going to help the budget. Douchbag!

Carol said...

I don't think either pooped their pants so it's a tie.

Interesting that what Romney said tonight is very different than what he says in his private donor meetings. I wonder who is the real Romney?? He's whoever he thinks you want him to be.

I do think that Obama care was modeled after what Romney did in his state yet Romney hates it. Got to get rid of waste and abuse in health care. That's the only answer.

They do need some agency to monitor Medicare/Medicaid. Too many docs milking the system, many of them are those foreign docs, and too many old people using health care for their entertainment. The cost of both are killing the program.

That debate bored and confused me. I wasn't kidding, I'd have rather watched Honey Boo Boo.

Carol said...

Obama is getting whacked by the media. They said that he'll do better when the fact checkers analyze it. Yeah, like the people out there watching are going to tune into for that.

People who haven't paid attention to what has been going on but tuned in tonight might be impressed by Romney. I don't think any of it, from either of them, was very clear but I do think Romney looked better..more relaxed.

Coreen said...

Know you don't want to hear it...but obama looked flat, annoyed, didn't want to be there...while romney like it or not
was engaged & actually showed he had something to say...whether you like his views or not...he was specific & was on offense the entire night, while obama was just about always on defense..

Jumped over to see the msnbc crews
response (but never fear only long enough to see that they were pissed) & that was the tell...matthews was livid...furious with obama...so that tells me romney was better
informed & delivered...while obama
just phoned it in...& really looked annoyed...that said have no idea that it makes a difference in the end..

will be interesting to see if the
so-called ind. polling shows any
changes in the next few days...

Coreen said...

Carville begrudingly says romney had a good night...but not sure that it changes & if the polls don't change...romney's really in trouble...but still thinks team obama will straighten it out by the next debate...

Personally I do beleive the media wanted so bad for romney to fall flat big time & since he didn't and actually had command of the entire night...they are deflated...
you can hear it in their voices...& see it in their look...

Carol said...

If you think Romney was specific..please enlighten the rest of us. I've never heard any specifics from him but I'm open to hearing them.

Carol said...

Obama doesn't come off well in debates. He was the same way for the last election. He makes goofy faces. Romney looked better. Then I heard that Romney had been in Co for a little while and Obama just few in 2 hours before the debate. Probably had some oxygen deficit issues. You need a couple of days to adjust to the altitude.

But...I really don't care for either of them. Wish I had another choice. There is one Romney that I think I could like but I don't think he would be the one who will show up. As far as the Republican party...no way in hell do I support them.

Carol said...

Congrats to your team Coreen. I'm talking about the Yankees not the Republicans.

Carol said...

After pondering that debate last night I came up with a few conclusions.

One, Romney is better looking than Obama. He smiles much better and he is less defensive looking. He has had lots of practice dealing with attacks and has learned how to smile through them. Obama went back and forth from this looking down in disgust to this smile that made me think he wanted to punch Romney's lights out. It reminded me of how he looked when he debated Hillary. Some of the looks on Obama's face said to me that Obama was thinking...who in the hell is this guy? He did mention that when he told Romney that 5 weeks before the election he seems to have changed his ideas.

I still don't have a clue who Romney is. I did come up with one big revelation...Romney is a CHAMELEON. He's good at fitting in to what he thinks will win people over and he's totally OK with lying to anyone/everyone to get what he wants. He's never given any details but he doesn't have to. He has his guy Ryan tell us that it's just too complicated for any of us to understand but don't worry they will fix it.

Interesting that no one brought up Romney's 47% comment.

And last night reminded me of why I now hate politics. I've come to a place in my life where I'm doing everything I can to avoid BS and politics is nothing but BS. I don't want to waste anymore of my life dealing with it.

Carol said...

Another little comment regarding the debate last night is... I was disappointed that Obama didn't call Romney out on some of his BS. It got so odious that I had to hold my breath.

Obama just let things that Romney said slide. A big thing Obama should have jumped on him for was when Romney was talking about how well he worked with his legislature in the state when he was governor. Sure he did. Romney governed as a liberal democrat when he was governor and he had a democratic legislature that was happy to work with him because of it. Obama had a legislature that would oppose him even if what he tried to do was originally a Republican idea. Their plan was to oppose everything he tried to do and keep him from accomplishing anything. He got absolutely NO cooperation. They announced that that was their strategy from the get go.

Romney was way more liberal, when he was a governor, than Obama ever thought of being as president. And Obama was way more conservative than most of us liked but that didn't help him get any cooperation at all. I think that Obama was definitely off his game last night. Next time he has to deal with an altitude change, he needs to go early. He also may have let his nice lead go to his head. Big mistake.

Carol said...

Yep..Romney is a chameleon. If he's sitting on brown, he turns brown and if he's sitting on green, he turns green. But if he gets this president gig..I think he'll definitely lock in the green.

Carol said...

Why didn't Obama call Romney out on his plan for poor people to go to emergency rooms for health care??? That was a brilliant idea.

As a basketball player Obama could have jammed that 47% comment right down his throat. So many missed opportunities!

Carol said...

If you didn't see the boys on Comedy Central last night you might want to check them out on the reruns during the day today. It think both shows are rerun at least twice during the day. It's on again here at 9/9:30 am CT.

Jon came down really hard on Obama.

jan said...

Been really busy with 2 little dogs. Ryley is doing fine and we have #2 son's little dog for a few days. We bathed Ryley last night. It took both John and I to do it. I held her in the shower and shampooed her and john used the flexible shower head to rinse her off. I kept on a t-shirt as she would dig her little paws into my chest. This seemed the best way to do it - thanks Carol for the suggestion. She looks really pretty. When I have her groomed I am going to have them trim the hair under her chin and hair on her ears short.

jan said...

Watched the debate the other night. Very disappointed that Obama did not call out Romney on his lies. Waiting for next debate.

Carol said...

Well, it looks like whatever team that TW and I like, they break our hearts. I guess that is just what we can expect in sports..and/or politics.

The Braves got in the playoffs just to screw it away. Terrible game yesterday. I was going to mention that we were watching it Coreen but I just had this bad feeling. That game kinda helps me prepare for the next Saint's game or the next debate, whichever comes first. Sheesh. I'm not sure how that word is spelled but I guess... anyway I want to spell it.

The Braves were doing fairly well yesterday until retirement boy, Chipper Jones, decides to leave something for us to remember him by...a big error. He's makes this crazy throw that allows the Cardinals to catch up. That set a downhill spiral in motion.

Then a couple of Chipper's team mates decided they didn't want him to feel bad so they tried to out error him. That left us three behind and running out of time. Just when we thought that maybe we had a chance to pull our asses out of the crapper...the refs finished us off with this infield fly rule that they called. It didn't make a lick of sense to me. Evidently the purpose of the rule is to keep the opposing team from pulling a trick to unfairly affect an outcome. Well...I guess it is better that the refs unfairly effect the outcome of a game than the competition doing it.

This certainly hasn't been the year for any referees..huh. Even old Jim Lehrer found that out. Ole Romney shot him the bird the other night...a Big Bird.

Carol said...

Didn't see you slip in Jan.

It's been entertaining to see the pundits go nuts over Obama's performance the other night. No one seemed to understand it and we all wanted Obama to call Romney out for being a liar liar, pants on fire.

I did hear this one explanation yesterday, on Current TV, that I thought had some merit. The explanation came from this female professor. It would take someone who is really into psychology to ponder it..and even then you have to do some serious pondering. I don't even think the others on Current TV understood what she was trying to say.

The evil powers that be in politics do not leave anything to chance. Everything is plotted out ahead of time and they are very crafty. Very often, evil is brilliant.

Evidently we as a society don't like black men to show anger. It scares us. We don't like women to either. I guess only white men can do that and get by with it.

If you noticed..just prior to the debate..Fox News, Hannity I think, dragged out this old video of Obama in New Orleans giving this speech. He came across as very "black" and angry in that speech. No one understood the significance of dragging out that old video but evidently some did. The video was from 2007. Maybe it was to help remind people of how much we don't like black men to come off angry. More likely..to remind Obama's team how much people don't like angry black men because the rest of us probably weren't paying that much attention.

Then, at the debate the other night, that was well prepared for by Romney and his team, he plays this bait and switch. The guy practically morphed into Obama. He was nobody the rest of us recognized..except when he fired Big Bird. That Romney we were familiar with.

Well..you can imagine what Obama must have been thinking...who is this guy and where did he come from? The possible responses for Obama to what Romney was saying were confusion and anger. Obama's confusion was very apparent. The anger, he tried very hard to hide even though coming off angry is what most of us wanted him to do. Obama was probably cautioned not to show anger. Not just now, but throughout his life..especially if he's NOT in front of a predominantly black crowd where it would be more acceptable.

After pondering what happened the other night, using that info..it made a little more sense to me. In politics, black men have more rules to follow. Women have to follow as many rules if not more. We can't show anger or pull the race card or accuse anyone of sexism. It's still a very white man world.

Carol said...

And it's not hard to understand why the right wants to do away with PBS. It's the only "free" educational channel that is available. The right isn't particularly comfortable with an educated America.

Coreen said...

TW & Carol...Sorry about the braves loss...didn't watch it, but understand that it all fell apart
between the errors & the umpire's call...

Coreen said...

As for your take on the debates...
I see you bought into the immediate spin from axelrod, when
he directted the media contingent of obama's campaign, that would be all the usual suspects to call romney a liar...which they obediently have done...

I know this will not sit well with you but the so-called lie spin cycle that was spun is the real lie...do your own checking & you will find that the lies are really the rants by the angry hurt media types whose hero was so ineffective...they were crushed & can't imagine how the dufus from massachusetts managed to outclass
their guy...this just was not supposed to happen...

And yes I have heard all the liar, liar pants on fire shtick...& it just doesn't hold up under actual scrutiny...

About that angry black guy nonsense...when all else fails just pull out the race card...one of the msnbc guests, a black guy with 2 last names (one who used to be a regular there) made that same bogus argument..old, tired & nonsense...

Coreen said...

The silliest take away (which Romney foolishly brought on himself) the Big Bird flap...hell BB & his buddies are part of the dreaded 1%....sesame workshop entity makes millions, many millions profit for a non-profit..so again the hand wringing attempts to say that BB & company will disappear is
bogus...& since corp for public broadcasting gets the vast majority of funding from private sources (isn't it only about 15% from govt) they aren't going away so another bogus, blind the public with smoke & mirrors oh gee what shall I call it....lie...

Coreen said...

Just so you know that Team Obama
is not above a little prevarication, or even lie...they can be exposed, if the media takes the time to call them out...

The untrue obama claim about the so-called $5 trillion tax cut...

CNN host Erin Burnett
calls out Obama's Stephanie Cutter on the 5 Trillion tax cut

Coreen said...

Try this on the $5 trillion rant...
it comes from AP which has for the most part been team obama, it does state some of the disengenuousness of the attack...

FYI it does continue the spin that TPC is non-partison, which is spin when looking deeper into the study itself...& in the end the TPC admitted that it was 'their' conclusion/opinion w/o any actual facts that they use to support it...

team obama enlarges upon the findings & assumes facts not in evidence...

To ask for specifics on romney's plan for tax cuts is reasonable to make bogus conclusions w/o facts...is well a lie...

in the end its all in the eye of the beholder....everyone beleives what they want to support their
vision, but it doesn't mean that ever opposing view is a lie...

Obama ad continues the $5 trillion attack

Coreen said...

There are more examples of why what you are calling romney's lies are just not the case, just because team obama's guys say they are...but you certainly have every right to buy their spin...

take the time to check out various
sources of the so-called lies & you may just find lots of nuance in the presentation....from both sides...

It's Jersey Boys day...so gotta go
get ready to go to New Haven...

Coreen, I avoided most all of the MS media. Couldn't handle it. I saw my boys..Jon and Stevie. They were hysterical. I saw a couple of Cenk's shows..that's all. Do you think I wanted to see Tweety or any of the rest of them have a meltdown??? I watch those who don't always give the left a free pass. Yeah..they may lean left but c'mom..the other side it way too nuts these days.

Carol said...

And Coreen...Obama doesn't even lean left anymore except for a few social issues. I'm not even sure how he really feels there.

jan said...

Coreen, I found out a few days ago that the pretty brown cat that hangs around does have a home. She lives across the street and down about 5 houses. The cat's family moved in just a few days before she started showing up on our front porch. She does not come around as much since we got the dog. It is interesting how cats and dogs just simply have an inbred animosity toward each other. The first time we heard Ryley bark was at the little brown cat. Ryley was inside but looking out the glass front storm door and the brown can walked by.

jan said...

The funny thing is that the brown can is about 3 times Ryley's size.

Carol said...

Jan, besides my two wide kitties and Fiddler who live here, I have a couple of neighbor cats who drop by to see what's on the menu. I figured that your visitor had a local family.

So, little Ryley thinks she's a bad ass. When I bring Maggie outside, Fiddler is friendly with her. Maggie doesn't pay her much attention. Fiddler is heavier than Maggie but not quite as tall. If they did decide to fight..I think Fiddler would win.

Carol said...

Sounds like there will be a neat show on Discovery...Feathered Planet. I think they attached a camera to a goose and we will get a bird's eye view. Sounds neat.

Also, 48 hours is covering this murder case we had here where two women/friends were convicted of killing one of the women's husband. I have treated both women but I really wasn't that familiar with the case. I did know that they both got a life sentence.

Carol said...

That was supposed to read wild kitties not wide kitties but the female has gotten wide so I think that she's probably pregnant. Dang..she's wild and I can't catch her to get her fixed. I might be a grandma any day.

jan said...

Yes, Ryley does think she is a badass. She will go up to the biggest dogs and bark her little head off. The other dogs just sit and watch her. She has a funny little bark. It does not sound scary at all.

Carol said...

The name of that Discovery program is Winged Planet, not feathered planet. Close.

Coreen said...

Jan, glad to hear that the kitty has a home...

Ryley sounds like she is adjusting very well...

Coreen said...

Jersey Boys was everything that has been said about it and even more....Terrific, would see it again anytime...the touring show was only in NH for 2 weeks, but if you guys get the chance to see it in your area, go...

I would even consider a trip to NYC to see it again...

The actors did a great job of singing the 4 seasons songs...the kid that played frankie valli was convincing both as the singer & acting...

Coreen said...

Just checked...Jersey Boys will be in New Orleans in January, Houston in March & Albequerque in May...

Carol said...

Sounds neat Coreen.

Tonight on Lifetime they are airing a remake of Steel Magnolias with a AA cast.

"On October 10, 2011, Lifetime Television Network announced a remake of the film is planned featuring African-American actors in the lead roles. Kenny Leon, the director of the 2008 ABC movie A Raisin in the Sun, will be directing this version. The film will be set in Louisiana.[9] The TV movie is set to star Queen Latifah as M'Lynn Eatenton and Jill Scott as Truvy Jones.[10] Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashād, Adepero Oduye and Condola Rashād are also set to star in the film, as Ouiser Boudreaux, Clairee Belcher, Annelle Dupuy, and Shelby Eatenton Latcherie respectively.[11] Lifetime is scheduled to air the African-American version on Sunday, October 7, 2012."

I loved the original movie. I found out later that the guy who created my last job and talked me into taking it was the husband of the woman who the movie was about. The play was written by his wife's brother.

The doc who I'm talking about was sent packing right before I quit. He was the CEO of the hospital. I had never even met the guy who ran the agency that paid my salary. The doc really cared about the position he had created. The guy who ran the agency who I actually worked for didn't give a poop.

The quote in the previous post was from Wikipedia.

Carol said...

I found it a bit on the nippy side yesterday and it will be again today but I see summer will return on Thursday. It was also windy on the river which made it feel even cooler.

Carol said...

Actually..if it gets up to 77, it will be perfect.

Carol said...

Well...finally...the Saints win a game. I couldn't even watch some of it. We have no offense...no defense..and Drew hasn't been his usual accurate passer but they did pull off the win.

For the second half I watched the BB game with the sound off and listened to the football game on the radio that is at least a play ahead of the TV. If I liked what I heard on the radio, I switched it over to the FB game to watch.

Carol said...

I watched that 48 hours program the other night about the two local women who were convicted of murdering one of the women's husband. I didn't follow the case here. I learned something watching that show that I didn't know about the law in La..that is that they can convict someone of murder without a unanimous decision of all jurors. All they need is 10 of 12 to say guilty. I'm kinda ambivalent about that. I think there may be only one other state that doesn't require all the jurors to agree. The show mentioned Oregon.

The most damning thing they had was some cell phone pings.
There was a possibility that those pings could have come from other towers if the closest tower was busy. Law enforcement didn't even investigate/interview the husband of a woman who the dead husband was having an affair with and they lost some important evidence. Even that husband was surprised by that. I hope they do have a good chance for appeal.

Carol said...

I'm watching the Voice. I really like that show..better than the other music shows. I like the judges which is different than the other competition programs. I'm recording DWTS. I can speed through it later. I've gotten disgusted with that competition even though I do enjoy many of the dancers/dances.

Carol said...

Just recieved this in my email from my NP certification board....

"Congratulations! Your certification was successfully renewed." I'm good until Nov 30, 2017. Whoppee do do.

jan said...

Congratulations Carol! That is quite an accomplishment.

Am not watching the Voice. I have been watching X Factor. I got started with it and will stay through the season. I think that is all the singing shows I can manage.

DWTS is pretty good tonight. Gilles dance was so sexy.

jan said...

The Balloon Fiesta is going on. I think we might go this year - probably later in the week. They have a bunch of new balloons.

Carol said...

It was another cool day today. Pretty cool for my neck of the woods. I had to turn on my heat this morning..for Maggie. Couldn't find her warm up pants. I had mine on.

Got to the camp to do some work and it was 55 out there..inside and outside. Had to turn on the heaters there also...for Maggie. Just to take a little of the chill outta the air. I hate the first time I turn on the heaters, anywhere. It smells like roasted rat turds..that's both at the camp and the house. I've never seen a rat so they must just hang out in my heaters. Fortunately the smell goes away after it runs for a few minutes. Oh..I've never roasted a rat turd if you're wondering Coreen. It's not something we typically do down here in the south. It's just how I imagine one would smell if one was being roasted.

And..I just remembered that yesterday, when I was leaving the camp, I glanced over at the river, it runs along the road over there, and there was a gator swimming toward the bank. I slammed on my breaks to get a better look and threw the poor Magster right off her seat. She forgot to put on her seat belt. She looked at me as if to say..WTF? I told her I saw a gator but she wasn't amused.

The camps are on the river side of the road and our property does extend across the street for a little ways then there are thick woods and swamp. I wonder if that gator wanted to go across the road to hibernate in that area. It's not the first time we've seen gators cross the road. One of my river rat neighbors took pics of one and I posted it somewhere. I don't think it was on the blog, maybe I left a link for the pic on photobucket.

Carol said...

Jan, I saw some pics of your balloon festival on one of the morning shows or maybe it was the Weather Channel. If you go, please take some pics. I woulda snapped a pic of the gator but when he saw me..he turned tail and went the other way.

Carol said...

I'll tell y'all that it's a good thing I don't paint for a living because I would be making the same salary that I'm making right now...nada. I'm pretty dang slow at it, not the hyperthyroid self I used to be. I guess you could say that I'm dabbling at it but...it gives me something to do..a purpose for being. I do hope that God is satisfied with not having much of a purpose these days. I did put in many years of meaningful purpose. I do think I deserve a break.

Carol said...

I took a break, one of many, to watch Katie Kouric's show today. She had on some very interesting guests. The first was the LI medium. She was followed by a female ortho surgeon who was trapped underwater in a kayak and died but came back. She's written the book, To Heaven and Back. I do want to read it.

Then there was this young boy who had a near death experience and had a very interesting story..and this young girl who started painting these beautiful spiritual paintings. Never seen such beautiful work. I couldn't tear myself away from that show. I went to her website to see if I could find that show there but couldn't. I wanted to link it for y'all to see.

Katie does have a little video of each of her guests on her website..

http://www.katiecouric.com/on-the-show/2012/10/08/to-heaven-and-back/

Many of the commenters to her website also wanted to know where they could find a video of the program. Maybe that will come later.

Carol said...

Well..I'd better get back to the show I was watching..on pause. I have so much recorded to watch there's not enough time to watch it all. But, when recorded, FF does allow one to move through each very quickly.

Carol said...

We've become a mean country/world and I'm not sure people even realize it. It does amaze me when people have no insight into the mean or cruel things they do.

I'm sure you might have caught a glimpse of that interview with Eric Winston?? He plays football for Kansas City. I wouldn't have known who he was but he was all over the tube yesterday so I Googled to see exactly who he was.

Winston, is an offensive tackle for the KC Chiefs. He was chewing the fans out for cheering when their own quarterback was injured and had to be carried off the field. They cheered. Can you believe that? I guess he wasn't playing up to their standards so they were happy when he became too injured to play for a while.

It used to be that everyone cheered when a player got up to walk off after an injury...it didn't matter what team he/she was on. Now..your own team will cheer when you can't get up.

I'm sure some people used to secretly be happy about those kind of things but they wouldn't dare let anyone see them do it. They may have that thought and would go to church after to ask for forgiveness and if Catholic..say a few Hail Marys and Our Fathers to be absolved of that guilt. Now..there is no guilt.

Carol said...

DWTS is a joke. Bristol is safe?? I'm glad I haven't wasted much time on that show this season and from now on won't waste another minute. I'm really enjoying the Voice. It's the best singing competition I've seen. So far it really is a serious singing competition and they have some serious talent on the show.

jan said...

I too am disgusted that Bristol is still a contestant and some good dancers have gone home. However, I will continue watching.

It is obvious that her mother has something to do with her getting more votes than others. Bristol is such a "baby." I feel sorry for her dancing partner.

jan said...

I will check out the Voice.

jan said...

Well, our nurse practitioner is gone. She took another job. She left 2 weeks ago. It has left a huge gap. I hope her position is filled soon.

jan said...

Where is every one? I keep going on here to see what you guys are doing and I am the last one to comment. Please come out to play.

I have been so busy with work lately since our Nurse Practioner left that I have not been on as much. It has cut down on my TV watching too.

I did not watch the debate last night. Just could not handle it right now. I don't know if the VP debates have that much influence???? What do you all thinK? Did you watch the VP debate.

John and I sat out on the proch and relaxed. I needed that more than to get stirred up by the debate.

Coreen said...

Not much happening this way Jan...
a chilly week here...

Just have been watching the Yankees win & now they get ready for the ALCS tomorrow...

Carol, hope you are ok, you posted at TM the beginning of the week & since then you vanished...what's up?!...

Carol said...

I haven't been on the computer today. I've been a little on the lazy side. I did a little sanding on my cabinets but then I sat out on the wharf for a little while and dropped in a line. The water was moving the wrong way. When it moves up stream, there's never any bites and it was moving that way. I did catch a little sun perch and the poor little thing swallowed the hook. I tried to get it out without hurting the little fellow. I threw him back in and I didn't see him floating so he might be OK.

Carol said...

I did watch the debate and it bored me. Biden looked like the winner but I don't know enough about what they said to know who's telling the truth. I, like millions of other idiots, have to wait for the fact checkers to tell us what's the truth and it depends on which fact checkers you listen to.

I don't like Ryan. Don't trust him at all. Even I could see though some of his BS.

I just hope Obama does a better job in his next debate with Mr Potato Head. Romney reminds me of that old children's game. He has a box full of positions and you can make any head you desire by just plugging in the positions you agree with. I'm sure I could even build one who I would like but I'm darn sure it wouldn't be the one who would take the office if he won the election.

And since children's characters seem to be popular with this campaign...Obama is welcome to borrow my Mr Potato Head analogy. It's one thing that even most of us idiots would understand.

Carol said...

Jan, yesterday I went to lunch with some of the old retired faculty from the U. You would have even known some of them. There was Ruby D and Jane J. You knew both of them. Ruby D is 90 and I swear she doesn't look any different than we she taught us. Jane looks pretty good also and she must be close to the same age.

Did you know Janet P? I'm not sure if she was there when you were here. The rest you wouldn't know. There were about 8 of us. I seldom was able to meet with them when I was working.

Carol said...

I did watch some of the BB game Coreen. I see they put A-Rod on the bench. I kinda thought they would. Ole Ibanez saved the game the other day. If I were A-Rod, I wouldn't mind setting on the bench collecting his salary. I'd clap real hard.

jan said...

Hi Coreen, Good to hear your yankees are winning.

Carol, Wish I could have been there with you and the faculty. Of course I remember Ruby and Jane. Good to hear they are both looking well. I don't remember a Janet P.

Good for you that you did some fishing, even if the water was moving in the wrong way.

We took Ryley to our 1st training session at the pet store. We are doing most of the right things toward potty training. She is doing pretty well. They taught us tonight some beginning things like 1) getting her attention and 2) starting to learn to sit. We have some practice to do for 2 weeks. The teacher will be out of town next fri evening.

Carol said...

Sorry Coreen, you got a double whammy last night. I saw the game up until they were tied up. Albanez has been a MVP for you guys for these playoffs. Weird that some of your good sticks have been pretty silent. A-Rod was not that big of a surprise to me but Cano and Granderson are??

I'm very sorry about Jeter. I think that was an injury that was just waiting to happen. With the report of his bone bruises in his left foot and ankle..I'm wondering if he had stress fractures just waiting. I watched that play, in slow motion, where his ankle went and it didn't appear to me to be a play that would break anything.

I even wonder if he might have been warned and just ignored it because he wanted to play. He is certainly a team member who will be seriously missed. Maybe his being absent will spark something in those silent sticks.

Carol said...

I have extra sympathy for Jeter because I'm still suffering from my broken foot/ankle. It will be a year in November and I'm still crippled. I have most of my pain in the good ankle from favoring the bad foot.

Carol said...

I spent yesterday running to the big box hardware stores looking for stuff to repaint my kitchen cabinets. I did some research on the Net to learn the best way to repaint them. I almost got too much info which makes me have to make too many decisions. I'm not good with too many decisions.

Coreen said...

Yes Carol it was a tough night all around...from annoyed to elated than disaster when Derek got hurt...flashed back to Mo getting hurt to start the season & now this with Derek...

We will just have to see how it plays out for the team later today & more important the wonder if Derek & Mo come back next year...
They have given us so much greatness over the years, hope there is more to come...

Coreen said...

What is the cabinet project?...are you going to stain them or paint them...years ago I had old wood
kitchen cabinets painted...they did it with a high gloss paint that was easy to wipe clean...actually some of them are mounted in my garage for storage space here...

Carol said...

I'm trying to save my kitchen cabinets Coreen. I like the layout and don't want to get new ones. I even read on one of the sites I looked at an article of how to distress cabinets on purpose. I don't have to do that. Mine are already a little distressed.

I'm getting a new counter top and that's costing over a thousand dollars.

Carol said...

Sorry about the Yankee's loss today Coreen. I hope they can pull it out. It doesn't look good.

When I heard about Derek's fracture, I was wondering if they were injecting his ankle with cortisone. They often do that to reduce pain. I'm sooo opposed to doing that. Docs love the stuff and I hate it unless it's only used in cases where the benefits outweigh the risks. Patients do love it but are often sorry later.

I was reading this article on the Yankee's website and it reported..."When asked if Jeter had been having cortisone shots administered to treat pain in his ankle, Girardi flashed a knowing smile and declined to answer."
That's exactly what I expected. I doubt they even told him the risks.

Home repairs and improvements are so expensive.

I imagine that is why so many young people today are renting instead of buying.

Carol said...

Coreen, they were talking about that controversial call where the Yankees tagged that guy at 2nd base and the umps called him safe. I did see it when it happened. That certainly could have effected the outcome of the game.

I think that the call in the Brave's game was just as controversial...ie., that infield fly call where the ball was significantly outfield.

All those complaints about the replacements refs in FB but I've seen as many crazy calls from the regular refs...and the regular umps. Unfortunately, BB doesn't have instant replay. Maybe that will change. Why should we have to deal with human error when the technology is available to avoid it?

Coreen said...

Yes, a bad call Carol, not a happy camper...but if my guys had scored some runs!!....it would have just been a lousy call...

no explanation why all of them are not hitting at the same time...

Just have to go back out there again tomorrow & try to get it done...against like one of the best pitchers in the game...

Carol said...

Well, I can say that I do know how it feels to watch a usually good team play like crap. LSU has been really lucky so far but the Saints haven't been. I guess both of my teams have a few good excuses. The Saints have all those sanctions and LSU lost our Honey Badger.

jan said...

DWTS is great tonight. One of best nights I have seen for the show.

Carol said...

After watching The Voice which was, as usual, very good, I FFed thru DWTS to see the dances. I don't look for the scores and I won't watch tomorrow for that BS, I just wanted to enjoy the dances. And I did after the first two. My favs were Gille's Bollywood, Derek and Shawn, and Val and Kelly. That last dance was soooo sensual that even my post menopausal self was turned on and I need a defibrillator just to get out of bed in the morning.

Carol said...

What I like about The Voice is that they pair two people on each coach's teams for a singing battle. They have to sound good alone and as a duo. The coaches usually select a song out of each of the couple's comfort zone and the coaches really are able to bring out extra talent in each of the singers. Most of the songs I've never even heard before but they are beautiful and very challenging songs. There are some pretty amazing voices in this group. And it doesn't seem to matter what the singer looks like...it's the Voice.

So far...I have not seen any of the BS that I've seen in all the other talent competitions. No one is mean or rude to anyone. They all seem to be focused on the talent and skills of the singers.

jan said...

Carol, glad you watched the dances in DWTS. I too liked the dances you noted.

I watched some of the voice the other night and enjoyed it.

It actually looks like Val and Kelly might be having something going on - off the dance floor.

jan said...

Did you watch the debate tonight. I think the Pres did much better tonight. It is counterproductive to watch these however, when you have your mind made up.

Carol said...

Well well well...both Bristol and Romney lose tonight. Not a good night for under performing conservatives. He he he.

Didn't watch DWTS but just checked on the PurDWTS website to see the results.

I am watching the BB game. I taped the debate and checked in off and on. There's really not anything new either of the debaters can tell me but I did want to see who came off better, see if Obama found his gonads.

I watched the chat on TM's new little chat room Craig set up. They did a good job of describing what was happening. Much more interesting to monitor their response to the debate than to watch the debate. Watching the debate stresses me and I'm not into that.

Carol said...

Jan, if I was dancing with Val, I'd have something going on or would be trying hard to.

Carol said...

It's tense Coreen...the game. Ibanez has a chance to do it again.

jan said...

woo hoo, Bristol is going home!

jan said...

So glad that Bristol went home before Kirstie.

jan said...

Nice Zinger Carol about lower performing conservatives losing tonight.

jan said...

While taking Ryley for a little walk this evening, one of our next door neighbors came out to meet her. She said she has knitted some little doggie sweaters. She brought some over before Ryley and I got home. I tried some on Ryley. So cute. I must buy one from her. She also has taken dog grooming lessons for 3 months and has all the equipment and agreed to teach me how to do it. I just paid $60. to get her groomed and I don't like the way they did it.

Coreen said...

About time dwts got rid of bristol...

At this point I like Kelly & Shawn
& still am partial to Derek...he is
the best at creating the routines of all of them...

As far as the debate...I know you can't wait Carol(& surely do not agree)...not truly attentive to it, but saw enough to know that regardless of the glee
among the obama true believers(& you too)...it was/is in the eye of the beholder who was more effective...

It surely was not in any way as decisive as the first debate when
romney so effectively refuted the
image that team obama had spent millions trying to convince voters that he was an evil robber baron, clown baffoon stupid yada yada yada...add any of your favorite negative jabs...

all that said still have no idea
who will win in the end...but until
a couple of weeks ago, would not have thought romney had a snowballs
chance in hell...

Carol said...

Coreen, I really enjoyed monitoring Craig's chat room to read their opinions about the debate last night. I love most all the people on the Trail. I am familiar with how they think. I know who leans right, who leans left and who teeters in the middle. I appreciate the diversity over there. I certainly wouldn't want to just hear from one side even if it is my side..never. I appreciate your point of view Coreen.

I left a comment over at TM about my feelings about Romney's 47% remark....

I’m glad Obama waited until the end to bring up the 47% comment. Good strategy. That comment chaps me pretty good. Some of us will depend on our entitlements but not because we didn't work our duffy’s off. Some of us just chose to man or woman the lower paying jobs in our professions because we felt they were more important jobs. I worked at least a job and a half for most of my nursing career and continued to go to school. I easily could have selected better paying careers in my profession and made a hell of a lot more money but I didn't. Even when I did, at the end, move into a better paying career option, the crap that was going on in the economy took a good bit of what I managed to sock away.

We can’t all have the breaks that people like Romney had but it’s not because we weren't as smart or didn't work as hard. I know teachers down here who left that profession to get jobs in industry where they made way more money but not because they were smarter or worked any harder than those who chose to continue to teach. There are just some of us who worked harder to be poorer because we felt what we were doing was more important and we were willing to make that sacrifice. We will need our hard earned entitlements.

Carol said...

Sorry Coreen. I know how much your team means to you and how much love you put into them. You even had me watching and rooting for them and like I said before, BB is not my sport. I'm a little like Jan with sports..I can take them or leave them. I can get caught up in the excitement if it is a local team or a team someone else I like is really passionate about.

Do you have a clue what happened to your guys? It was almost like someone put a hex on them. The best of the team either shut down or got injured.

Carol said...

But I'll tell you one thing...I'd rather watch sports than watch anything that is political. I feel really sorry for those battle ground states.

The first thing I heard when I turned on my TV this morning was someone saying that people were turned off because in the last debate the candidates were too aggressive. Gosh! Obama tried to keep it calm and was bitched out for doing it. They just can't win. Maybe for the next debate they should put the candidates in two different rooms and let them text the debate on their smart phones. I'm sure Obama would win that one. Somehow..I don't think that Romney would be good at texting.

Carol said...

These guys really insult the intelligence of the American people. Ryan soooo demonstrated THAT with his little soup kitchen photo op. I really can't believe that he thought he could get away with that stunt. It just demonstrated how dishonest his team can be. It's the ultimate FU to the poor. Anyone who would stoop to doing something like that has no soul.

Carol said...

I'm still trying to find someone to do some of the work at my camp, someone who will do a decent job without ripping me off.

Someone gave me the name of someone who I'm suppose to meet sometime today. I hope that person will work out.

I'm not looking to take advantage of anyone. I've had workers do things for way less than I thought the job would normally cost and I gave them a good bit more than they asked for.

Coreen said...

No question that the guys didn't hit...not just alex, robbie, grandie, mark, nick...all of them
inexplicably failed to get hits...so the outcome was pretty
unpleasant...

losing derek to end the season after losing mo at the start bothered me, but hopefully after derek's surgery he will be back for the start of 2013 season, as
will mo...do not look forward to a team w/o those guys...

Carol said...

Well, I met the guy who will do the work on my camp. He can do the things I need done but it's going to be quite a job. He won't be able to start for 3-4 weeks but that's with just about anyone who's worth it.

Not only did this guy come with a good recommendation from a friend who owns her own hardware store but I had a good feeling about him. He gave me accurate info. That's a big plus.

We had a houseguest for a few days. Nice fellow who provided a house for us to stay in when John did some services in the mountain town. He left yesterday to spend some time with his dad in Kansas. He lives in Austin in winter and in mountain town in summer. A good idea.

I don't think I would want to take any pics out there right now. My kitchen is full of all the tools I'm using to paint, etc. I have piles of paint, primers, sanding stuff, brushes, power tools, and assorted other things.

I'm kinda afraid to keep working on all the painting of the cabinets in case I won't be able to keep them. It will depend on what they find when they take up the floor. If they find any termite damage, they will have to rip out my cabinets.

I'm glad that lil Ryley is doing well. Has she warmed up to John yet? She may sense how he really feels about her. Dogs do have a six sense. I know that John probably wants to like her but...

A couple of weeks ago I was visiting over at TWs and we went to this Krogers in her small town. The manager of that store upgraded it to a more interesting store..for our area. It has more of a selection of many things. It has quite a selection of organic fruits and veggies. I do like to buy some things organic. Walmart has organic Spring greens and spinach but that's about it.

I like strawberries but have always heard that they use lots of pesticides and fungicides on them. I found some organic ones there. They should have been more expensive but the same size container was actually 2 bucks cheaper and the fruit was really pretty. I think they made a mistake but I took advantage of it.

I wouldn't usually drive all the way over there for a few organic things but when I went to the store with TW a couple of weeks ago, I found this desert in their bakery that was divine. It was a little 4 by 4 inch cake called a Tuxedo mousse cake. It has a couple of layers of cake with a layer of a white mousse and a layer of a choc mousse. It's topped with a choc frosting It was soooo good.

Monday I drove over there to get another one of those little cakes and they were out. I was really disappointed. I went again yesterday and got two. I put one in the freezer. I felt a little guilty driving all the way over there for that little cake but TW reminded me that we only live once. She's right.

TW is right. We need to enjoy every minute of life.

BTW, Ryley and John and good friends now. The only thing is she wants me to take her out to the potty. I think I am the Alpha to her now. Probably because I feed her and walk her. She will sit in John's lap and will get close to him on the couch. John and I sit on opposite ends of the couch to watch TV and she sits between us much of the time.

She spends most of her time now out of the pet taxi. In fact, at night she sometimes resists going into the pet taxi at bedtime. I still want her to be in there at night because I don't want her going potty in the house. I have had to put up all rugs except the small one under dining room table (she sometimes sleeps under there) and the one she lays on in the living room. I used to keep a throw rug in front of the sink. I had to put it away as she kept peeing on it.

Hook em Horns! come on Texas - whoop up on Baylor.

Well Jan...I see that the horns did hook um. First time in three years. I guess it was a rivalry. Did they have some prize that they get to have for the year? There were many rival matches this weekend from what I heard on ESPN.

There is soooo much trauma involved in the sport of football but there's something I see every week watching football that really bothers me. It's the trauma that I see with their celebration. A teammate will jump on another teammate from the back when the guy doesn't even see him coming..or the entire team will pile on one as a celebration or they will slam one on the helmet saying good job. That just seems like extra unnecessary trauma. Anyone every noticed those things and pondered whether any of them are ever injured with their celebrations?

Travis, the Yahoo sport's guy I occasionally listen to in my vehicle, was talking about all the drugs that those guys must have to take to continue to endure all the trauma they sustain playing football. I guess that is why they make the big bucks. I'm just too empathetic to watch sports.

Coreen, from what I hear on sport's radio and TV, your Yankees are going to continue to suffer from having a high paid older team. Many were great players but age has taken it's toll just like it has on us. I know you are very loyal to the older team members, they are like family to you.

Tuxedo mousse cake!!...not a bad
reason to jump in the car & drive miles to find it!!...

And strawberries, guess you get local berries year round, I switched to apples for my salads
since the berries were just not that tasty the past month around here...but I do really like strawberries..

And heres a question...greek yogurt
anyone try it?..never tried it, but
for some reason I think I am missing a good lunch/snack...

Good to hear that Ryley is blending
into the family, Jan...you guys made the right choice bringing her home...

The aging of my fav Yankees has been a topic of concern for awhile...since we all know you can't defy reality forever...

Nice to see you Coreen.

I feel same way about all the trauma that football players experience. when the girl jumped on GS's back about 1 1/2 years ago he was knocked to the ground on cement and was out for a short time - wound up with many stitches. Docs don't think it has anything to do with his seizures now - but how do they really know? They think the lesions in his brain may have been there since birth.
