Late summer visitors to Louisiana

From the rough seas of TS Lee to smooth flying of my visiting hummers and a resident anole who dropped in for a drink.

Tonight is the big game! NFL opener. The Saints play the Packers. The Packers are picked -4.5. We'll just see about that.

If that doesn't excite you then maybe you can get excited about Obama's jobs speech...Humf.

You have to blow up the last pic to see the anole. It kinda blends in with the background.

Speech not too bad, now I'm ready for some football.

Glad your rain is over Coreen. Our overnight temps have been almost as nice as yours, maybe a little cooler. 54 yesterday and close to that today.

Geaux Saints!

We are having cool temps too. So nice.

Oh boy. Not a good start.

Carol said...

Jan, I had to throw the post together in a hurry.

I'm not sure I'll make it thru this game. I'm not much into watching my team get creamed.

The big MO ain't going our way.

Looking up. Saints just scored.

jan said...

gotta leave the game. Have to do some work in the bedrooms. John will keep me informed as to how they are doing.

Carol said...

Packers are on fire. Is it half time yet?

Carol said...

Looking better!

Carol, sorry the Saints lost. I lost interest. Wish I enjoyed watching sports. I have been moving furniture and cleaning and could not stay away from it last night. John kept me informed as to how the game was going.

Woke up at 1:30 am with an allergic reaction. I think it was all the dust I was exposed to while cleaning bedrooms. I have my house cleaned every 2 weeks and it is nice but I tend to let things go. When I cleaned my own house, I kept it in better shape. People who clean for you don't clean "out" stuff and keep the clutter out. I am a big clutterer and every so often really need to clear out the clutter.

It is so nice to have cooler weather. I have increased my morning walk from 2 miles to 3 miles. I am trying to increase my pace too. It is not easy. I have really slowed down these past 20 years. I may not walk in the morning. When I wake up like this and can't go back to sleep, I wind up going back to sleep about 5 am and sleeping until 8-9.

Tough opener, Carol, but there's lots of games
left...

Jan, I have lots of clutter, I do the cleaning & still can't seem to eliminate stuff!!...I think about it, but for some reason find it hard to throw stuff away...

I was disappointed in the outcome of the game. I didn't make until the end. The Packers were 8 pts ahead when I fell asleep and won by 8 points even though not the same score as when I fell asleep.

We were outplayed and I think there were a few bad coaching decisions but thats sports.

I have a lot of clutter also. I just can't throw things away. I have stopped buying junk though.

Actually the Saints didn't look bad last night. Brees threw for 419 yards with 3 touchdown passes and Rogers for 312 and 3 touchdown passes.

That Sproles guy looked pretty good.

I don't know if either of you will watch tonight, but the Arkansas Razorbacks play the New Mexico Lobos. John is ambivalent - well not really, he has said on Facebook that he is still an Arkansas boy. I knew that. Go HOGS! woo pig sooie!- woof woof! I am pretty sure Arkansas will win. They are playing on ESPN-U

Son Bill and family are coming over to watch the game. Son Terry is hunting this weekend - but wife and kiddo are coming.

I have been busy for several days now moving my clutter around. I did get rid of a bunch of student papers. Why the heck I kept them I don't know. I got rid of bunch of books too. Many more to go.

It is a beeutiful day here. I have all windows open. Temp is 70 in house and perfect and a little breeze blowing.

Arkansas won by a huge margin last night.

We had 9 of the family for dinner last night. I am paying for it. I feel every one of my 70 years this morning. I think 1/2 my joints hurt. Did not sleep too well. I bought roasted chickens at Costco and made mashed potatos and gravy, carrots, baked beans and salad. I bought a frozen apple pie- baked it and had ice cream with it. They say if you bake it- its home made LOL.

I don't think it is just the dinner last night that is causing my aching body. I did a lot of housework in the past week and probably overdid it yesterday.

Carol, I am in awe of all you do - the mowing and stuff.

and Coreen, you do all of your own housework. You are amazing too.

Well, it is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 -

This is one of those days where you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing that morning.

I was working in Miami (small town) in Northeast OKlahoma. I had just arrived at work. I had driven 75 miles from our home in Arkansas. I don't listen to the radio when I drive. The drive that morning is on rural 2 lane roads - very hilly. I loved the drive because it is all farm land. When I arrived at work, everyone was in the big front room watching a little television. That was the first I knew of what had happened. By that time both planes had hit the twin towers. We had bought a small house in Miami and were closing on it that day. I was going to stay there 5 days a week. It was too much to drive every day. It was only 75 miles but took 1 1/2 hours to get there from our home in Ark.

When I look back over 10 years, it feels like a lifetime.

After 2 years, I did not like having to maintain 2 homes and John was ready to retire. We decided to move to NM. It was a good decision.
