Stephen on Colbert Report is trying to humorously point out how money corrupts politics.
He started out trying to form a Colbert Pac. He was told by his program owner that he couldn't for some reason, don't remember the exact reason. He had a lawyer on who told him he could get around that rule, if he added a cover letter on the application saying it was a super pac. That bypassed the law. He was in Washington and I think his show will be covering that this week.
I know you don't care for them Coreen, but Jon and Stephen do try to humorously point out just how corrupt our political system is. You have to use humor to get people's attention.
Jan, more nice pictures. I love the architecture there. Ca. had a lot of the Spanish style architecture, but you rarely see it here. It's normally in a dryer climate -- too much humidity and rain here so it's not as practical.

Quick news update...Hines & his partner will dance tonite...injury or not...
surprise, surprise...The Donald won't run for President...
the IMF perv is not granted bail...apparently has to spend the night at Rikers...now that is a tough place...his past exploits start to show a pattern of abuse that he got away with...& yet some french are upset about how he is being treated!!!...

Not a good time to screw with me..after that threat and hearing that scary info on gangs today. That guy who threatened me looked like he met some of the characteristics of the gang type. He was covered with tattoos.
Today I sat next to my secretary/security who escorted the dude out the other day, while he was making his threat. I asked her what he said since I didn't hear it all. She said he just said...I know what I can do to you. She did write up the incident and put some new charges on him. I'm sure that won't please him.
Had to go back and catch Chelsae's dance also. Yes it was very nice. I think the fact that she has such a perfect dancer's body gives her an edge. Overall, I do think she is best but I don't think she will get the mirror ball.
That IMF guy was also going to be a candidate for president of France I heard. Given that it is France, maybe that wouldn't matter. Our French star could report on that.
Ok, I just finished watching DWTS. I think Chelsea is the best of the 4, Hines and Kirstie tie for 2nd place for me. with Ralph coming in 3rd. I had to take a walk at sundown so was late watching the entire show. I hope Kym is going to be ok. She may not dance next season. I thought it was very sweet of Hines to be so emotional. I like him better after hearing his story of his life.
Had a tough time at work today. The other nurse and I did a tag team of doing the health screen on a mom and her 2 young kids. It took us 2 hours to complete it but got it done. There are so many things to do in a screen and with 2 kids too. We are now doing lead screens at 12 & 24 months and anemia screens at 9 months. The other nurse is an NP and she did a lead screen on one child. She had me assisting her which was fine. Its a finger prick and drawing the blood up in a tiny tube. Well the child was fine through the prick but hard to get that much blood up into the little tube before it coagulates. The little girl was crying. I realize now that I am not cut out to be a primary care nurse. I cannot handle making the kids cry. I was ready to quit. The NP held out and got the blood. I felt so stressed later that I felt sick. Fortunately the things I do are not painful to the kids. I cannot tolerate hurting them.
Carol, you are right about me being a NP. It is not for me. I think I did the best thing to stay in teaching and research. I like the work I do now though as long as I do not have to do anything that causes pain.
On that DWTS blog, I'm glad to see they saw a lot of what I saw. Whew. They agreed that the judges unfairly tore Ralph a new one. He got the Haley treatment. No I don't think he is the best but the attack from those judges went overboard. They wanted to make sure they got him out of there. Hope it doesn't backfire on them. And I didn't like that winner take all thing at all. I think Hines and Kym pretty much tied Chelsae and Mark in that Cha Cha contest. Maybe his story got to me also.
It's interesting to see how much manipulation goes on with the media. See it in the news all the time. Fox News is the leader in using it but the others do also.
It reminded me of something else I saw last night. Jon Ronson was on the Daily Show last night. He wrote this new book..The Psychopath Test. Pschopaths like to manipulate and they are everywhere. He said that 4% of corporate CEOs are psychopaths.
He said that some predict that 1 in 100 in society is a psychopath. 40% of those in jail are psychopaths.
Now, I don't want you to think that I'm calling any of those judges psychopaths, but, of course, you never really know. My flight of ideas was because of the manipulation part. Psychopaths use manipulation.
I've been the victim of it at work. I've had those nice looking charming inmates that had me convinced they were innocent and later I learned the truth.
And Jan, I never said that being an NP was not for you. I just thought that you have so much good education, experience and skills that it would be a waste of your time to go backwards to get that certificate. You have all you need to do the things you would like to do.
And I don't care much for hurting people either and can't think of much I do that does. I never have to give injections or draw blood anymore. I let the nurses do that. Of course if they can't, the buck stops here.
I also hated doing anything to children that hurt. I was also a nervous wreck when I worked with students taking care of peds, when they had to do something painful.
Carol, thanks for the post on psychopaths. The guy that did the presentation sort of turned me off. I have read many books on the subject trying to figure out why I was so duped by one sociopath I had a year long relationship with. I have known at least one psychopath or I call them sociopaths) in my lifetime. I don't think he ever told me the truth. And he was so smooth and charming. I have thought I was naive and too trusting. But psychopaths can fool almost anyone for a time. They spend their lives trying to con people.
I fear that the man I am talking about in the above comment could have been a serial killer. His first wife died during pregnancy and I suspect he might have beaten her to death. He lied to me about how she died. I found out the real truth about her death from his mother. Of course, she did not tell me he beat her. But I am sure he did.
"I've been the victim of it at work. I've had those nice looking charming inmates that had me convinced they were innocent and later I learned the truth."
I am sure you see these all the time. The scary thing is that many of these people are able to avoid jail and prison because of their charm and manipulation.
When the man I was talking about came after me with a gun in a clinic full of pregnant women the police took him to jail, but he managed to get out the next day. I wish someone would explain to me how that happened.
OK before the show, here's the blogger who analyzes DWTS...Seems he is with everyone having difficulty picking a favorite to win... Like his take on it all...just sit back & enjoy all of them until one of them takes the mirrorball... DWTS analysis
Coreen, I still feel like the judges were unnecesarily harsh on Ralph. He worked so hard, has made a lot of progress and doesn't deserve that kind of treatment. I was ashamed of those judges. And I take it back, they may be sociopaths, abolutely no empathy. They could have critiqued without all that crap. I hope future potential contestants are taking notice.
I read one source that thought that they decide who's going to win before the season starts. Maybe that is so and that's why they found a way to give Chelsae a boost with that winner take all cha cha. Hines and Kirsty are so popular that they could beat her out. And why they blasted Ralph so bad, they definitely want him out.
I really don't care who wins but I'll continue my critque because I enjoy doing it.
Jan I looked to see what the actual difference was between the sociopath and psychopath because the behavior characteristics are the same. I read: "Both personality disorders are the result of an interaction between genetic predispositions and environmental factors, but psychopathy leans towards the hereditary whereas sociopathy leans towards the environmental" Wiki
Now I'm not sure how they figure that out when labeling. Probably just a guess.
Don't know about 'paths' or such...but Arnold is just another guy who does what they do...I've said it forever...99% of guys will cheat given the chance...& yes I know that I should not generalize but I have been in a guy's world for a long time...& trust me you can count on one hand the guys that won't cheat given the chance...if you think I have little respect for most guys...you would be correct...
Have no idea what Maria knew should have known or what...personally I have a hard time believing that the spouse who is being cheated on doesn't know...but I just don't know...
And reading your comments about pscho/socio paths....seems you both have had run-ins with some really creepy guys...honestly can't say as I have had any such incidents to relate...so you guys have the lead in this...
DWTS is reprising past winner's freestyles...Just now Donnie Osmond...
I guess they need to drag this show for a couple of hours...And boy, I don't even remember this dance... the only one I remember was the Drew leshay/Cheryl cowboy one...which was probably the best I ever saw...they said they were going to show it tonite, but don't know if they did or not...
No Carol, did not date any, but grew up with a few that were connected...but have to say, we did not see the sordid side of those guys...
one of my closest friends to this day, dated/lived with a guy who was an 'enforcer'... unfortunately he wound up just like you see in the movies...a bullet to his head...the killer never caught...
Here is a 20 item checklist of characteristic of the Antisocial Personality, Sociopathy, and Psychopathy. My lazy link. And I think you've known a few.
Any number of those characteristics can be attributed to an individual at any one time...doesn't necessarily add up to an antisocial personality in my book, but just various human traits...
remember I am not a fan of the entire field known as psychology...I found the concepts to be completely subjective, and subject to just about any interpretation one wanted to make...
Pure DWTS net calculates how many more votes a contestant has to get to beat another contestant out, considering the judges scores. Ralph would have had to get a truck load more votes to make up the difference.
My theory is...that the winner take all was designed to assure Chelsae had a big head start and the low scores and heavy critcism to Ralph was designed so that his fan base couldn't possibly make up the gap.
I think even though Chelsae is considered by many to be the best dancer, she doesn't have the fan base the others have. Many who like her are people who don't vote.
Just my theory, can't prove it. If the judges wouldn't have done the above, it is very possible Chelsae may have gone down tonight.
And neighbor from down the road did fess up to rearranging my plants yesterday. He wanted to see how long it would take me to notice. It didn't take long. Usually I wouldn't have noticed until I went to water them the next day. I told him it wasn't a good day to screw with me.
Coreen, I had a restraining order on the guy when he came after me with a gun - so the RO did not help much. I guess he must have bailed out of jail. My attorney advised me to leave the state and/or leave the country or I might not live to get another chance. I moved to South America for 3 years.
I think Chelsea is the best dancer, but she is young. Hines is an athlete. Kirstie is 60 and overweight and not an athlete. I have to hope she wins. I don't think she has a snowballs chance in H*** but she sure has kahones. Is that the right word????
It is hard to believe that Maria Shriver did not know anything about Arnold's daliance with household help. Maria is a smart lady. I bet she chose to ignore it. I have never liked him.
Sorry I missed you Jan. I'm trying to get a time line here. I do remember bits and pieces of that 'path story from years back. You must have been married to Bob when that happened?? Is that why he took a transfer to Argentina? That move turned out to be a great experience. Weird how things turn out.
Yes people and their behavior is fascinating. I love looking into someones eye's and trying to see thru them.
Now Coreen, I can't say I have much respect for Psychiatry. It's just that all they seem to do is stuff drugs in people's mouths. A couple of minutes of evaluation and a prescription. Drugs aren't the answer to everything but for some they work miracles. And that goes for all of medicine.
And people are over labeled and over diagnosed in that area and it can have a lasting and debilitating effect. That Bipolar label is far too often used.
The diagnosis of depression is too often used when it is more likely grief many people are experiencing and that is normal with all the losses that people are trying to deal with these days.
I have lot of inmates come in saying they are depressed. After listening to their stories, I tell them they would be nuts if they weren't sad. It's normal to be sad when you experience loss. Gee.
I do offer antidepressants but they want something to knock them out so they don't feel any pain. That's often what got them in jail in the first place.
Has anyone been following some of the Republican presidential candidate roll outs?? It's a combination of comedy and tragedy. Can't make that stuff up. Makes for a great reality show.
Seems Trump did what he needed to do and he's out?? Now the Newt comedy is up. Whew.
I think Newt is the one who came up with the rationalization for screwing around. He said something like....he was so busy serving his country that he didn't have time to adhere to any of these family values their party preaches. I guess that was also Arnold's excuse.
I can understand that. Why go home to take care of your family when there is a female standing just feet away that can take care of your needs. Makes perfect sense.
That's why I like psychology Coreen. I'm trying to figure this crap out. The real 20 million dollar question is...why will people support and vote for some of these morons?? They certainly don't give a s--- about any of our needs, well, that is, unless we have a big donation to give.
Good luck on figuring out the psychology of these guys, Carol. Every single person is different. Like you mentioned earlier about diagnosing people, no one fits neatly into one slot or another.
Jan, you're leaving tomorrow, aren't you? Are you taking your computer? And are you looking forward to it?
Jan, an enforcer intimidates people, whether verbally, physically or worse...My friend lived with a guy for years who was reputed to have done such...personally I do not know what he did...but he met a violent end...
Mob/organized crime/mafia...whatever you want to call it....think the Sopranos, the Godfather, Good Fellas...not so far from reality...many of us here can identify with characters in those movies...
Funny this a.m. I had Good Morning America on & it seems there is now a reality show called you guessed it....Mob Wives....
There are some videos on line, I will have to pull them up & see what its about...
I do know the GMA piece certainly brought back memories of women/girls I knew a long time ago...
The interviewer made me laugh, she showed a closet full of women's clothes from one of the mob wives...& remarked that there were lots of animal prints & red shoes...infering that some how that was the type of fashion unique to the 'mob' women...
Well...guess what, I hsve several leopard print items...love them...& yes I also have red shoess..so does that make me a 'mob' type...
Well Coreen, as you know I didn't vote for Obama in the primary and I was kinda stuck with him in the general. The alternative was unacceptable and we did need some libs on the Supremes. Except for the Supremes, we ended up getting same old, same old.
I still don't see any alternative and maybe if Obama makes it thru again, and doesn't need to suck up to the big boys for campaign financing again, things may go different.
Jan, I'm with Carol about your cross-country trip, enjoy it & hope you will share a little bit with us stay-at-homes...You & John are true road warriors...
And that spiritual retreat in NC...I too am curious about what it is all about...
I'm back Carol...I did watch some of the mob wives clips...
I could see me checking out how these women wind up...I never watched any of the housewives of LA,NY,Atlanta, etc...but the 4 mob wives are way out there...the dialogue is peppered with F-bombs...& there is ever-present turmoil & confrontation...
You will love their 'accent'!!!...remember I don't have any accent Carol...
As for Scotty...for me just another country singer, nothing special or unique...again country music not on my playlist ever...so I am probably not the best to judge...
Mob Wives is a new VH-1 production, original episode airs Sundays at 8 pm...looks like it has just had 4 episodes...and they are being repeated often....
Sunday, 8p, I can't think of anything else I watch. I'll check it out even though I'm not big on those "wives" shows. I do find gangstas interesting even though I wouldn't want to run into or hang out with one.
Sh--, they may have well given Haley the Flight of the Bumble Bee to sing. That was a tough song to do. Never heard that song before and they had the nerve to criticize her for picking unknown songs.
I was just voting for AI 50 times, which is no easy take in itself, listening to AC 360 and pondering the Maria and Arnold's situation. I dare you to try doing all three at the same time.
We know Arnold had a reputation for being a womanizer, even accusations of assaulting women in the past. Maria, when dating him, says we just don't know her Arnold like she knows him. Yeah, sure. Now everything most of us thought is just about how it was.
It came to me that I think Maria was just used for show so he could run for political office. Like a, rent a Kennedy. Now that he's kinda out of political options, she out of there.
I really can't see how she could be so naive as to not realize what was going on and not be somehow in on it. Hope she gets a big payday.
Maggie just came in here to check out why I haven't taken her out yet. She's been into hiding under the bed lately. I don't have a clue why. No bad weather, no loud noises, no swarming termites. I think that maybe it is because I was coaxing her out with an offer of a cookie. She might be manipulting me to get a cookie.
Ivy gave me that advice to use cookies to break Maggie of her fear of thunder. Maggie's turned that cookie thing around on me and she finds ways to get me to offer her cookies to stop doing something I don't want her to do.
It's crazy when your dog is smarter and more manipulative than you are.
I taped Idol and listened to it as I got things ready and packed for the trip tonight.
I love all 3 of these kids. They are each so likable. Yes, I also think Scotty gets his voice from his dad. That was a funny moment. I am voting for Haley. She won the last night for me. Of course, I know that means she will probably not win as that is what happens for my "pick." of the season.
We are leaving in the morning. We will stay tomorrow night in the town with all the weather - hint, hint at the name of the town. Friday night we will be in Arkadelphia, AR. It is not far from Texarkana. It is a town in which one part of town is in TX and the other in AR. Arka... is where my son and family live - and my GD is graduating.
I absolutely am taking my computer. So I will check in with you all tomorrow night. I will be in the same time zone as you so can "talk" together about Idol - yaaay!
You are right about the Argentina thing Carol. It is too funny how things work out. Bob was offered that assignment in Argentina at just the right time.
Watching the news and the stuff about Arnold. How in the world did Arnold get away with this for so many years- 2 children by different women at the same time - and in the same household? OMG.
I dunno Jan. We could go to the checklist to see if Arnold meets the criteria for psychopath/sociopath but that's too much trouble this morning. Let's just say if he isn't, he missed a good chance to be.
Hey Jan, I'd love to be the one who got to interview Maria, of course, after a short designated grief period. I wouldn't cut her any slack. There were lots of red flags there.
It seems that Arnold wasn't satisfied with just cheating, he had to have two women, pregnant with his kid, under the same roof.
And maybe it was just a ménage à trois. Definition: "Ménage à trois is a French term which originally described a domestic arrangement in which three people having sexual relations occupy the same household – the phrase literally translates as "household of three".".
Others also thought, like me, that the judges and that Jimmy guy were trying to sabatage Haley by choosing two incrediably difficult song choices. IMO, it backfired, she kicked it.
I wish all those things for you and John too, Jan.
Try to fit in some rest also. That's a lot of driving, but it's nice that you have several days to spend in each place throughout you trip.
ps We have been to Texarkana once to meet up with friends. It's been a while, but as I remember it, it was a nice, pleasant place. It was a long drive though -- and the closest I've ever been to Arkansas (which I think was just across the street from where we stayed).

OK, here it is.
The first pic is in Santa Fe. while I was taking pictures, this contraption pulled into my viewfinder. I don't know what it is.
The other 4 pictures are more of what I see on my walk in the 'hood.
Again Jan, some very nice photos. You have the eye.
That first contraption is interesting. I wonder what they license it as?? No helmet and I bet no seat belts. Doesn't look safe.
I do recognize the flowers in that last pic, bearded irises. We have lots of those around here. I thought they needed lots of water but I just went to read and they need well drained soil. I'm sure they do have to water them though.

I just heard on MJ that we, the taxpayers were paying $3000/night for the IMF perv's room.
Here's the story about Colbert:
Colbert Sets Up Presidency Run with Fed Testimony to Get Cash
Carol, Iris here are very hardy. We had lots of Iris in the yard of the house we had here in early 1980's. Watered them very little and they thrived.
Jan, more nice pictures. I love the architecture there. Ca. had a lot of the Spanish style architecture, but you rarely see it here. It's normally in a dryer climate -- too much humidity and rain here so it's not as practical.
The 'contraption' - I first thought might have started from a motorcycle, but the more I looked at it, the more it looked like he may have started from scratch. Betcha it gets some good gas mileage. Is there a helmet law in N.M.?
Nice going Jan...the flowering cactus is definitely a plant we don't see here...iris
though do grow almost wildly once you start some...
Do you by chance know why the roofs are mostly
flat in the adobe type homes...
Also what type of heating systems are used in the SW...Is central ac common...
Evening folkes, I think I can settle down now...finally. Interesting conference today. They had this FBI guy talking about gangs. Interesting and scary.
Oh, but I can't relax, we have to dance now.
Sounds like they have some good evidence on that IMF guy. I don't think they would be going after him like they are if they didn't. Yes, I'm tired of all those entitlements...those where these powerful guys think they are entitled to whatever they want.
Coreen, I wonder if they cut out that lift??
Chloe, if we had an adobe house around here, crawfish would make a mounds out of it. That is, after it melted.
Tonight, I really don't have a dog in the race. Takes the pressure off.
Ralph was amazing.
Anyone home?
Dang those judges! If Hines or Kirsty fall out onto the dance floor they'll be giddy.
I thought Ralph did a really good job...
Coreen, I do not know why the flat roof is so popular here. They do fine because we have little rainfall. Ours is not flat. I just do not trust them. Most people here have "swamp coolers" rather than refrigerated air. We have refrig air. More upscale homes tend to have refrig. air. The watercoolers are cheaper to run.
I checked with my other half, Mary, and she agreed.
And Carol, its another night, another game...Yankees in Tampa Bay....after 5 innings
Yanks ahead 5 - 1...
The flat roofed adope house is the older traditional structure in NM. A true adobe structure is energy efficient (the walls are very thick) and more expensive. There are not many of those around. The adobe bricks many years ago were made by hand out of clay, straw and water.
Hi Jan, so the 'true' adobe bricks insulated the homes from excessive heat/cold?...
And I think Kirstie was just beautiful...she is
really coming together with this dance thing...
Kirsty didn't impress me at all. And Bruno creams in his jeans.
Those judges are full of sh..!
I think the house in the last picture is a real adobe structure. You can see the vigas (wooden posts shown coming out of the uppermost wall) sticking out. The vigas are the supports for the roof, ceiling and the basic structure of the house.
There are some psyops going on here, but I'm not under the influence.
Coreen, yes - the adobe bricks provide insulation. It is amazing how well hey work too.
Jan, do adobe house stay cooler?
Carol, yes - they do stay cooler.
I see it Jan...interesting & effective building technique...there most be a reason
why the roofs are flat, I know here that would
be a problem because of winter/snowload...
I am so glad they got to that french perv who sexually assaulted the housekeeping staff of the hotel. What a creep. I saw on the news he is married to an american journalist.
Got to the guy before he left the country.
Carol, are you being the contrarian now that
Romeo is gone?...
I have never heard of a reason for flat roofs - I do suspect they are cheaper - not as much materials.
Now that was a superb argentine tango...lots of
emotion...Chelsea is obviously the best dancer of them all...
I did like Ralph better than Chelsae.
That was not Chelsea's best.
Jan,the IMF perv's wife is an heiress & the news said she is like a French Barbara Walters...what is amazing is how the french
are annoyed with 'his' treatment by our system...handcuffed & all...
The news said she stood by him on the previous sex scandal. Wonder if she will continue to do that.
The comments by some French officials are in this NYT piece...
French shocked by imf chiefs perp walk
Jan, now I can be less biased. I usually love Chelsae and have not been particularly crazy about Ralph. I just call them as I see them. Just my opinion.
I've never thought that Kirsty was that great. Yes she does amazing for all she has going against her but that's not how we should judge.
And yes I thought HInes did a great argentine
tango too...
Not a whole lot to Hine's dance.
My rating so far is....Ralph, Chelsae, and Kirsty and Hines were a toss up.
And the Rays just took the lead 6 - 5 in the 6th...the nightmare continues...5 runs in 1 inning....
10 for surviving. Really????
Can't please them Ralph!
Judges want him out this week!
Well, at least Mary and I agree.
Weird. I just stepped out on my back deck and noticed that two of my caladiums that were sitting in a little group by my steps when I just watered them, are now sitting on a little table. Someone was out there. It's right outside, below my windows, but I can't see down there from my couch.
Hope it was my crazy friend from down the road.
I can see any of them being in the final 3...
Ralph's salsa was quite entertaining & a little wild...
Kirstie is giving it her best now...& she is
delivering very enjoyable dance routines...
Now, I did like that dance Kirsty did. She looked really good in that outfit also.
That was a very romantic rhumba by Chelsea & Mark...again she is clearly the best dancer
of all...
I got behind, trying to figure out who was lurking in my yard.
Not a good time to screw with me..after that threat and hearing that scary info on gangs today. That guy who threatened me looked like he met some of the characteristics of the gang type. He was covered with tattoos.

Had to go back and catch Chelsae's dance also. Yes it was very nice. I think the fact that she has such a perfect dancer's body gives her an edge. Overall, I do think she is best but I don't think she will get the mirror ball.
That was a fun salsa...Like it or not Hines
is just so likable...
I have a feeling that Hines or even Kirsty might. They have such a big fan base.
On the NY news...they found an alligator on the Long Island Expressway...one of the very
busiest highways in NY...
Angry gator on the LIE
Now Hine's last dance was outstanding.
I just caught up with the dancing.
Coreen, I thought there was a gator missing out here. Send him home.
No...I think he looks like a yankee gator.
Yeah...angry & well-fed!...
Actually Coreen, I thought he looked a little puny.
And a little pale. Probably been hanging out in the sewers.
I thought that Hines definitely won the cha cha duel with Ralph. I was kinda torn between Kirsty and Chelsae. Haven't seen the final duel yet.
See, I'm not totally biased.
Chelsea is the best dancer...however, Hines
is just too smooth & easy...& Kirstie has just
so much charisma now..she is rockin it every time out...
That said no quarrel with the cha-cha winner...
I tell you, I had a hard time choosing between Chelsae and Hines.
Gotta go...5-0 time...
This is interesting:
THE PSYCHOPATH TEST by Jon Ronson
I bet some of you with an interest in psychology might enjoy that read.
Gotta go! catch up later.
Carol, be careful out there.
OK before the show, here's the blogger who
analyzes DWTS...Seems he is with everyone having difficulty picking a favorite to win...
Like his take on it all...just sit back & enjoy
all of them until one of them takes the mirrorball...
DWTS
analysis
Speaking of whatever-o-paths, what do you guys think of Arnold?? I think Maria should have had a clue before she married the cad.
Have no idea what Maria knew should have known
or what...personally I have a hard time believing that the spouse who is being cheated on doesn't know...but I just don't know...
And reading your comments about pscho/socio paths....seems you both have had run-ins with
some really creepy guys...honestly can't say
as I have had any such incidents to relate...so
you guys have the lead in this...
Jan, did your sociopath bail out of jail?? And did you put a restraining order against him after he did?
Now if you want to talk about gangster/mobster/mafia types...I could probably
describe a few...
DWTS is reprising past winner's freestyles...Just now Donnie Osmond...
I guess they need to drag this show for a couple of hours...And boy, I don't even remember this
dance...
the only one I remember was the Drew
leshay/Cheryl cowboy one...which was probably
the best I ever saw...they said they were going
to show it tonite, but don't know if they did or not...
Didn't see you sneak in Coreen. Now, how do you know so much about gangster/mobster, et al?? Did you date a few?
I'll bet you've had plenty of run ins with sociopaths/psychopaths. They aren't all in jail Coreen. Some are successful business people.
Just watched Drew leshay do the dance live again...that was my favorite...& that was a few seasons ago....
No Carol, did not date any, but grew up with a few that were connected...but have to say, we did not see the sordid side of those guys...
one of my closest friends to this day, dated/lived with a guy who was an 'enforcer'...
unfortunately he wound up just like you see in the movies...a bullet to his head...the killer
never caught...
FBI watching her house...even searching her house...she had to appear before a grand jury investigating a rash of mob hits at the time...
Here is a 20 item checklist of characteristic of the Antisocial Personality, Sociopathy, and Psychopathy. My lazy link. And I think you've known a few.
http://www.angelfire.com/zine2/narcissism/psychopathy_checklist.html
Wow do they have to exhibit all those traits?...or just a few...
I would think that all those behaviors define the antisocial personality. They are pretty much related traits.
See that's the problem for me Carol..
Any number of those characteristics can be attributed to an individual at any one time...doesn't necessarily add up to an antisocial personality in my book, but just
various human traits...
remember I am not a fan of the entire field known as psychology...I found the concepts to be completely subjective, and
subject to just about any interpretation one
wanted to make...
I was always interested in psychology. I'm really fascinated with the subject, both normal and abnormal.
Amen...after 6 bad losses...Yankees win...
Big surprise results huh?
I would really like Kirstie to win...& give all us oldies a boost...other than Kirstie, I want Hines to win...but if Chelsea wins that's
ok too...
Gotta go...isn't it walk time?...be careful out there Carol...
Oh great Coreen, on your boys winning. I was afraid to keep up with any more of their games. Too depressing and their not even my boys.
Now, if I were a sociopath...probably wouldn't bother me at all.
And neighbor from down the road did fess up to rearranging my plants yesterday. He wanted to see how long it would take me to notice. It didn't take long. Usually I wouldn't have noticed until I went to water them the next day. I told him it wasn't a good day to screw with me.
Carol, glad your plant mystery is solved.
Like you Carol, I too have been interested in why people do what they do-and psychology has seemed to provide some of those answers.
Coreen, was the guy your friend dated in the mob? I don't know what an enforcer is. OK has lots of outlaws but no mobs.
John taped DWTS tonight but I think he did not tape part of it so I missed all but the results section.
It is hard to believe that Maria Shriver did not know anything about Arnold's daliance with household help. Maria is a smart lady. I bet she chose to ignore it. I have never liked him.
I was not surprised that Ralph left tonight. I too think the judges manipulated the results.
OK, I am talking to myself again.
And speaking of 'paths, it seems politics is full of them. Seems to me like many couldn't do what they do and have a conscience.
Hope it turns out to be a great trip for you.
Jan, an enforcer intimidates people, whether verbally, physically or worse...My friend lived
with a guy for years who was reputed to have done such...personally I do not know what he did...but he met a violent end...
Mob/organized crime/mafia...whatever you want to call it....think the Sopranos, the Godfather, Good Fellas...not so far from reality...many of us here can
identify with characters in those movies...
Funny this a.m. I had Good Morning America on
& it seems there is now a reality show called
you guessed it....Mob Wives....
There are some videos on line, I will have to
pull them up & see what its about...
I do know the GMA piece certainly brought back memories of women/girls I knew
a long time ago...
The interviewer made me laugh, she showed a
closet full of women's clothes from one of the
mob wives...& remarked that there were lots of
animal prints & red shoes...infering that
some how that was the type of fashion unique
to the 'mob' women...
Well...guess what, I hsve several leopard print
items...love them...& yes I also have red shoess..so does that make me a 'mob' type...
Carol, why do people vote for certain people...good luck with that one...
I'm still trying to figure out what possessed people to vote for Barack Obama...Didn't get it then, still don't get it...
Sitting in my Doc's office waiting. Just routine.
Hope we get go with you guys. You won't get to slow down until you're on the road. Curious about your spiritual retreat in NC.
Slipped in again Coreen. I guess you were writing at the same time I was and when I finished, my Doc came in.
Being just a wife can be challenging but being a mob wife would be plain scary.
Are you all packed Jan?
And a couple a more questions Jan, where are we stopping on day one and did John ever get his laptop fixed after her dropped it?
Anybody home?
Jan, I'm with Carol about your cross-country trip, enjoy it & hope you will share a little bit with us stay-at-homes...You & John are true road warriors...
And that spiritual retreat in NC...I too am
curious about what it is all about...
Enjoy & be safe...
I'm back Carol...I did watch some of the mob wives clips...
I could see me checking out how these
women wind up...I never watched any of the
housewives of LA,NY,Atlanta, etc...but the
4 mob wives are way out there...the dialogue
is peppered with F-bombs...& there is ever-present turmoil & confrontation...
You will love their 'accent'!!!...remember I don't have any accent Carol...
Haley's daddy played with her tonight. She, again, took another big chance doing a song that people aren't familiar with.
Well, Tomato Woman corrected me. That song Haley did was an old Led Zepplin song and she recognized it right away. She said..."that's your winner".
Well the youngsters, and me, probably arent that familiar with the song. You ever heard it Coreen.
When will that show air Coreen and on what Network?
Well, Scotty is a great little country singer. Sorry but he's not my Idol.
I heard Haley sing...had no idea what it was...lead zepplin was not on my playlist ever...
That said the girl sang it with great style...her raspy voice conveys a lot of soul
& heart...I could see her winning...
So far, for me, Haley is still leading the pack.
As for Scotty...for me just another country singer, nothing special or unique...again country music not on my playlist ever...so I am probably not the best to judge...
Reading the blogs Coreen, people either love her or hate her. No inbetween. The ones who hate her say she is arrogant, cocky. I never saw that in her.
All of these kids know what they want to do and aren't easily manipulated. I respect that about them.
I can do just about everything but rap and opera. I guess I could do opera in the right place and time.
Lauren is my second favorite.
Lauren is so sweet and innocent.
As far as I'm concerned...you have to have some attitude....not necessarily a bad thing...
That's Lauren singing...she has a nice voice, but it is not really that much different than a lot of other singers...
Mob Wives is a new VH-1 production, original episode airs Sundays at 8 pm...looks like
it has just had 4 episodes...and they are
being repeated often....
There are all so good, it's down to just who you like the most.
Sunday, 8p, I can't think of anything else I watch. I'll check it out even though I'm not big on those "wives" shows. I do find gangstas interesting even though I wouldn't want to run into or hang out with one.
Haley is muli-talented.
Again, the judge diss Haley. Screw them.
I'm a little worried about what the judges will pick for Haley.
That pick for Scotty is a little high for his range.
He has to stretch for that one.
But he did it.
And we see where Scotty got his voice....pappa.
I like Lauren's selection.
"I hope you dance". Love that song.
I do like country music.
I like Lee Ann Womack.
Here comes Haley assignment...holding my breath.
Well, I'm late with my bedtime chores again.
I've decided I'm going to just ignore Maggie when she hides under the bed. She can just stay there until she turns into a dust kitty.
Have a great trip Jan. Hope you can keep in touch.
Caron, I am sitting her LOL about your Maggie and she is manipulating you for cookies. Tooo funny.
Poor me, I had to work all day. I had many children to see and assess for development before I can leave town. It all went well, but am pooped.
Carol, John did not get his laptop fixed. it is working fine except it plays this funny tune when it starts up.
OMG.
Chloe, I do agree with you that each person is different.
So what do you all think. Is Arnold a sociopath?
Jan, hope you and John have a safe, fun and enlightening trip.
We were almost out of room so I put up a quick place for our American Idol live blog tonight.
