Coreen, A perfect halloween post. Thank you so much. We are ready for some little trick or treaters here in Alb. We have 3 houses on the block with young children. John has his Darth Vadar mask and his black cape so we are ready.
Thanks Coreen for the wonderful Halloween post. I'm not dead. I've just been overwhelmed by stress, much of it due the all the tasks I haven't been able to get around to. The job has finally taken it toll on me. It's affected me both mentally and physically.
And I've had absolutely nothing to say, just ask Maggie. She's laying on the couch with her head stuffed deep in a blanket. She doesn't like it when I'm stressed.
I don't get any trick or treaters out here. Too dark and no easy access to a door here. If someone does come to my door, I'm gonna run for my gun.
Last night when I went to take Maggie out, I turned on the light outside and something heavy jumped off the wharf or off the boat next door. Scared both of us. Whatever it was hit the water with a very loud splash. It must be my mystery monster again. It wasn't human even though the sound it made would be consistant with a human doing a canonball into the water. Not a gator either, it wouldn't be jumping off something and they are off hibernating by now.
We don't get trick or treaters either, with no lights, sidewalks, & driveways so long from the road....
Jan, did you & John get many trick or treaters...
Carol, it's not a bad thing to just kick back relax & not have much to say sometimes...But those splash in the dark happenings still bother me...I know you are very careful of you & Maggie's welfare...
By the way, though I did not go there, yesterday Pres. Obama was in Bridgeport for a free rally....at the Bluefish Arena (a minor league baseball teams)... & if the polls mean anything, CT will not be sending a wrestler woman to the Senate...
And tonight there is a 'freeze' warning from midnight to 10 a.m....the season has changed...
We got few t or t's tonight. We had 2 huge bags of candy- one with a variety of choc candy and one with a variety of the candies that kids like. We will have to give it away somewhere. John and I can't keep the choc stuff. We will eat it. Any ideas?? As for the stuff kids like - we don't like that.
I got word tonight that my dad's widow died tonight. We were sorry to hear that.
Carol, Hope things are better for you soon. Work can be a b**** especially when you can't get away from it. Wish you could get a few days off to get some R & R.
I taped a movie several weeks ago that I finally watched today, Mona Lisa Smile- about an art teacher who taught one year at Wellesley in 1952. So interesting how life has changed for women. We actually have come a long way - but still have a long way to go - in terms of economics. I know someone on here does not care for Julia Roberts, but it is worth watching. Some other young actresses who did a great job.
Well, it is Nov. 1st. Tomorrow is election day. It was fun having the little "treaters" here last night. The last ones were a couple of dads and their little bitty girls -they could not have been more than 18 months - I guessed that by the fact that both were walking. Neither one talked but their eyes were as big as saucers. They were sooo cute.
I am taking our candy up to some friends at the College of Nursing. They always have chocolate for students (and faculty) who stop by.
John and I did not sleep too well last night. Talked a lot about my dad's widow, Bea (my stepmother). She and I had an ambivalent relationship. She was a neat woman. She was full of vim and vigor one minute and full of s*** the next. She was crazy about John and she liked me most of the time. Most women love John. He can be full of s*** sometimes too.
Speaking of Bea, one of my granddaughters was 5 when my dad and Bea married. My granddaughter asked her - "if you are grandma Bea, where is grandma "A". My granddaughter still has that interesting sense of humor. She will be 18 in January.
Seems all my friends agree they had a lot less trick or treaters last night...
Jan, just added the Elvis impersonator for Halloween (costumes & all)...we went to see his performance last weekend here... He has a big local following, was surprised that the hall was full, it made some money for St. Theresa's where one of my friends works...He was quite good...
The Mona Lisa Smile movie was a good watch...a chick flick for sure...& the character was oh so scandalous for the time....
Also in the chick flick group...Under the Tuscan Sun (Diane Lane) & Something's Gotta Give (Jack Nicholson & Diane Keeton)....both very enjoyable...
Coreen, it was not kicking back or relaxing that I was doing. I was in a full blown panic. There are so many things on my panic list that I really need to write them all down so I don't miss figuring a way to take care of all of them. My job is what is most responsible for not getting to many of the things I need to do.
I had been trying not to think about it but my denial recently dissolved and the panic set in. It has taken a physical and mental toll on me. I think I have a plan so I might be able to settle down for a little while. I hope the panic does also.
To start with, I will settle down for a little DWTS.
Thanks again for the Halloween pics. I really enjoyed them.

Coreen, Love the picture of your black cat and the Jack-o-lantern. Perfect halloween picture. What is the Elvis thing? Tell us what that pic is about.

If there are no new posts by anyone, later I will change the scenery, since Halloween has been put away for another year....
This was on facebook posted by a NYC former
radio talksshow guy Lionel, he does commentary on a NYC TV news nightly now....
It is so clever, just brilliant...talk about dancing with the stars....& I even recognize some of the movies...
Dancing at the Movies

Don't think the second team did better than the first team.
Coreen, I enjoyed the dancing video. I too recognized some of the movies. Thanks for posting the link.
I loved the dance by Brandy and Macks. She is doing great. I thought Jennifer did much better this week.
New post is ready...
